Jehovah Series: Part 3, Jehovah our Healer

Well welcome to these Jehovah Titles and the series thereof.

We are in the third Jehovah uh third of these parts uh which is number two of the Jehovah Titles, Jehovah Our Healer.

And all of you should have the paperwork in front of you, dated May 19th, 2008, on part three, Jehovah Our Healer.

We covered in the the first one, the introduction, that Jesus Christ is the way God caused the fulfillment of every one of these Jehovah titles, every one of the promises of God to come to pass.

Jesus Christ is the vehicle for this.

Out of this, God has made known who he is toward mankind.

Because Jesus Christ redeemed and saved mankind, now we are in covenant relation with God.

Because of that, God is Jehovah, and everything is he is as Jehovah toward us, his people.

In part one, we looked at Jehovah who sees and provides, or sees or provides.

Technically, saints, he sees.

He sees the need of man.

Therefore, he provides.

The provision is because he sees the need.

And as we talked about last week, him seeing our need is the reason for our salvation and redemption through Christ.

As Abraham did not know the greatness of asking God for a substitute sacrifice, either did we.

We didn't understand the greatness of what God would cause to be through Christ as the sacrificial lamb for the sins of the whole world.

God, as our provider, as the one who sees our need, is the foundation for every one of these Jehovah titles.

It's the foundation for what God is toward his people.

So at the top of your paperwork there, 2 Corinthians chapter 1, it reads, For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, by me, Sylvanus, and Timothy, was not yes and no, but in him was yes.

2 Corinthians 1 · chapter mention

For all the promises of God in him are yes, and in him amen to the glory of God through us.

So remember, the title Jehovah refers to God in covenant relation to his people.

God is Jehovah to us through the redemptive work of the Lord Jesus Christ.

This is the foundation for our study.

In our study of the Jehovah Titles, we are in the second as they appear in Scripture.

As is the case with the first of the Jehovah titles, this one occurs only once in Scripture also.

And also, as with the first of the Jehovah titles, this one appears throughout the Scriptures, displayed as God's character and his desire to bring his people into oneness with his wholeness.

So even though these titles, these first two and others are used only once, you can see the qualities of God, that same characteristic of God, all through the scriptures, toward God's people.

In other words, as God is shown to see and provide for his people, as we saw in the first Jehovah title, throughout the Scriptures, so he is shown to heal his people throughout the scriptures.

From Exodus 15, verse 26, the last part of it reads, For I am the Lord that healeth thee.

Exodus 15:26

This literally means I am Jehovah, your healing.

This is Jehovah Rapha from the Hebrew, and from this we get our second title.

This verb, as it is used here, means the unbroken continuity of action.

This is very important to understand because it's not God who healed us, past tense.

It's not God who is going to heal us, future tense.

It's God is our healing.

It's a continuity.

He continues to be the same all the way through.

See, God is trying to tell us that He is Jehovah, our continuous healing, continuous healing.

In 1 Peter 2.24, we have the the last end of that verse reads, By his wound we are healed.

Well, this is also a timeless verb, meaning it's emphasizing what occurred.

So this would better read, by his wound you have healing, or have wholeness.

Some other translations of the end of this verse are, for I am Yahweh, thy physician.

That's the Rotherham translation.

Or the Young's literal is I am Jehovah.

For I, Jehovah, am healing thee.

Isn't that interesting that the young's caught that continuous?

Continuous wholeness.

Again, for I, Jehovah, am healing thee.

This word heal means to stitch together, to mend or repair.

This refers to not just physical wholeness, but wholeness in every way.

Now, we've talked about wholeness many times in the past.

But in understanding wholeness from the scriptures, our wholeness is continuous.

It's continuous in that God stitches our lives together.

He mends us, he repairs us.

He also stitches together or mends or repairs the earth.

What is in our possession, our families, our marriages, our children, our barns, our responsibilities.

The wholeness of God is over everything, saints.

Ultimately, this is going to manifest in all of creation.

Nothing is going to be missed.

I am Jehovah who heals thee, or who is your wholeness, is going to be manifested in all, all of creation in every way.

We're going to look at that at the end of this session here today.

So I put three scriptures next on your paper, three quotes.

First one from Exodus 23, 25.

Now listen to this.

And you shall serve Jehovah your God, and he will bless thy bread and thy water, and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.

That's Exodus 23, 25.

He says that he will take sickness away from the midst of thee.

Take it away.

Just take it away.

Not that he's going to bring you into something special, that he's already caused it to be.

And because of that, he's going to take sickness away from the midst of thee.

The second one there says, and Jehovah will take away from thee all sickness, and none of the evil diseases of Egypt which thou knowest will be put upon thee.

That's from Deuteronomy 7.

Then from 2 Chronicles 30, so the Lord heard Hezekiah, Hezekiah prayed, says, and the Lord heard Hezekiah and healed the people.

This next section on your paperwork is a point that needs to be understood.

Listen, saints, sins are the reason for all ill health.

All ill health.

Now that again, that's not ill health of your body only.

It's ill health of your mind, ill health of your family life, your job, your land, what you own.

It's everything.

Okay, and we're going to look at this with these scriptures.

But sin is the reason for all ill health in every way.

That's why righteousness literally manifests as wholeness.

Righteousness manifests itself as wholeness, the way God would have a situation or a thing to be.

So to see the connection between sin and this ill health category, the first point in this section, number one, is Psalms 103, verse 3, talking about the Lord who forgives all thine iniquities, who heals all thy diseases.

So see the forgiveness of iniquities is tied in directly with healing diseases.

Get rid of the iniquities, diseases can't thrive.

The second one from John 5 says, Behold, thou art made whole.

Sin no more lest a worse thing come unto thee.

Sin no more lest the worst thing come unto thee.

So he had been sick for thirty-eight years with this infirmity.

And Jesus Christ tells him, Sin no more lest the worst thing come unto thee.

So how could a worse thing come unto him if he sins?

Now keep in mind, Jesus Christ already bore the sins of the whole world.

What we just read is previous to his death.

So once you're born again, Jesus Christ has already paid for all your sins personally, past, present, and future.

So just bear that in mind as we're going through all this.

Number three from Mark 2.

But that ye may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins, he says to the sick of the palsy, Arise, take up thy bed, and go home.

In other words, you're healed.

Why?

Your sins are forgiven you.

No sins, no ill health.

Number four, Psalm 31, 10 says, For my life is spent with sorrow and my years with sighing.

My strength has failed because of my iniquity.

See, his strength has failed.

Because of his iniquity.

And he says, and my body has wasted away.

So you come into weakness or your body wasting away because of sin.

Well, this is why Jesus Christ died for our sins.

But see the connection between sin and ill health?

It's so clear in the scripture, saints.

I'm sharing this because I believe if an individual's heart grabs onto the truth that all ill health, all lack is because of sins, then the logical trail is, okay, then everything is healed up, resolved in Christ, because he died for the sins of the whole world.

See the connection?

Number five from Psalm 38, 3.

There is no soundness in my flesh because of your indignation.

There is no health in my bones because of my sin.

See that?

No health in the bones because of the sin.

For mine iniquities are gone over my head as a heavy burden, they are too heavy for me.

My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness.

I am troubled, I am bowed down greatly.

I go mourning all the day long.

Look at these words because of the iniquity, saints.

I am bowed down greatly, I'm mourning all the day long, for my loins are filled with a loath loathsome disease, and there is no soundness in my flesh.

I am feeble, which means weak, and sore broken.

I have roared by reason of dis the disquietness of my heart.

Now, this disquietness of the heart is tied into ill health, and we've all known this disquietness of the heart to some degree.

But that disquietness of the heart is also tied into sins because of those iniquities.

You see that?

The next one from Psalm 41, 4, as for me, I said, O Lord, be gracious to me.

Heal my soul, for I have sinned against you.

So he's talking about the health of his soul, that he's downtrodden.

Why?

Why?

He says, Because I have sinned against you.

So God's wholeness is designed to do a takeover over our whole soul.

This is why Jesus Christ died for our sins.

Number 7 from Isaiah 33, 24, and the inhabitants shall not say, I am sick.

The people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity.

So not sick, because they're forgiven their iniquity.

Jeremiah 14, Hast thou utterly rejected Judah?

Hast thy soul loathed Zion?

Why hast thou smitten us, and there is no healing for us?

We looked for peace, but no good came.

And for a time of healing, and behold, dismay.

We acknowledge, O Jehovah, our wickedness and the iniquity of our fathers, for we have sinned against thee.

So again they looked for peace, but had no good, no good had come.

Peace.

Peace is part of our wholeness that's in Christ.

How about number nine?

Says, For thus saith Jehovah, thy heart is incurable and thy wound grievous.

There is none to plead thy cause, that thou mayest be bound up.

Thou hast no healing medicines.

All thy lovers have forgotten thee.

They seek thee not, for I have wounded thee with the wound of an enemy, and with the chastisement of a cruel one.

See, an enemy has come upon.

Why?

For the greatness of thy iniquity, because thy sins were increased.

Why criest thou for thy hurt?

Thy pain is incurable.

For the greatness of thine iniquity, because thy sins were increased, I have done these things unto thee.

See, the problems came in because of the iniquity, saints.

It's so clear.

It's so clear.

Number 10 from 2 Chronicles 7, if my people who are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will he hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Heal their what?

Their land.

Well the land was not healed because of their sin.

So it had all kinds of problems.

But he's saying, You will call unto me and seek my face.

I will forgive your sin and heal your land.

Well, how about us today?

Same thing.

Number 11 from Exodus 12.

The blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you live, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you.

And no plague will befall you to destroy you.

When I strike the land of Egypt.

See the blood on the two sideposts and the upper doorpost, the Lord said, When I see it, I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you.

So when God sees the blood on the our hearts, he will cause no plague to come upon us.

None.

So if you were to go to Deuteronomy 28, in Deuteronomy 28, you have the blessings of God if they would keep the word.

The cursings if they didn't keep the word.

Now this is under the old covenant of the law of Moses.

But watch what it says here regarding these curses.

If they do not keep God's word, verse 16 says, Cursed shall you be in the city, cursed shall you be shall you be in the country, cursed shall be your basket, and your kneading bowl.

Cursed shall be the offspring of your body and the produce of your ground, and the increase of your herd, and the young of your flock.

Cursed shall you be when you come in, and cursed shall you be when you go out.

Man, saints, these curses, being apart from God, this lack of wholeness is covers everything because of sin.

Everything.

It affects everything.

Verse 20.

The Lord will send upon you curses, confusion, talk about mental curse, confusion and rebuke in all you undertake, until you are destroyed and until you perish quickly on account of the evil of your deeds, because you have forsaken me.

And it just goes on and on and on.

Verse 22 says, The Lord will smite you with consumption and with fever and with inflammation and with fiery heat and with the sword and with blight and with mildew.

Mildew.

We talk about that in our houses.

And they will pursue you until you perish.

And it just keeps going and going and going.

Look at verse 24.

The Lord will make the rain of your land powder and dust.

From heaven it shall come down on you until you are destroyed.

Wow.

Just keeps going, verse 28.

And the Lord will smite you with madness and with blindness and with bewilderment of heart.

And you will grope at noon as the blind man gropes in darkness, and you will not prosper in your ways, but you shall only be oppressed and robbed.

Continually, with none to save you.

Wow, that's just severe.

Yet all this is because of sin.

See, and Jesus Christ delivered us from the sin problem.

You don't need to turn there, but in Romans 8, verses 20 to 28, it says, the whole of creation suffers until now because of sin.

All of creation.

So what's the solution from God's point of view?

Well, sins and their consequences of every kind were put upon the Lord Jesus Christ.

He became the bearer of our sins and their due punishment.

We are placed in Christ Jesus, and in him is no sin or consequences thereof.

None, saints.

In Isaiah 53, it says that Jesus Christ bore the iniquity of us all.

The iniquity of us all.

He carried the whole load in our behalf.

So we are placed in Christ Jesus according to 1 Corinthians 1.30.

Well, in Christ there is no sin.

No sin, saints.

That verse on your paperwork from 1 John 3.5 says, and you know that he was manifested to take away our sins, and in him is no sin.

Well, if you are placed in Christ, and in him is no sin, then there is no sin attached to you.

None.

From God's point of view, you are cleansed.

Well, then why do we deal with problems?

Why do we deal with any lack in any way?

Some of these things that we read about in Deuteronomy 28 and other experiences of the results of sin.

Well, take the blood of Jesus Christ in your mind and put it on your two side posts and upper door posts, so to speak, of your heart.

Wait a minute.

This thing that I'm dealing with has no authority over the blood of Christ.

Jesus Christ already shed his blood toward this thing.

Therefore, thing, whatever you are, you have no authority over me in this situation, or you have no authority over this town or my child or my spouse.

Therefore, by the blood of Jesus Christ, I command you away.

Now don't try this by your own works, by your own authority, but by the blood of Jesus Christ only, and watch the power of God go up against this thing.

Saints, somehow this is easy to slip out of our fingertips.

In a practical way, that we let the blood of Christ be a nice message in the background.

Yet it is a daily, moment by moment reality in the lives of God's people who realize moment by moment that they are purchased by the blood of Christ, and that by the blood of Christ, everything was resolved in heaven and upon earth.

See, there is no record of ill happiness.

Or sin related to Christ, other than that he bore our sins and their due punishment in our behalf.

Well, as such, there is no record of ill health in the Garden of Eden before sin entered into the world.

Absolutely none recorded.

Where Jesus Christ walked, he left a trail of deliverance.

Saints, he has walked into our lives.

He leaves a trail of deliverance.

Claim that blood of Jesus Christ in your life.

His wholeness is your wholeness.

Is there any sickness upon Jesus Christ?

Well, you're placed in Christ.

There is no sickness, no disease, no authority of darkness whatsoever that should ever overpower God's people.

That's why it says we have been delivered from the authority of darkness and transferred into the kingdom of God's dear Son.

Very clearly in Colossians 1.13.

We have already been delivered from the authority of darkness.

See, sin and ill health are as related as righteousness and wholeness are related.

Jesus Christ's redemptive work produced our wholeness because it made us righteous.

That's why.

2 Corinthians 5.21 says that, well, if you go there real quick, that's one you've got to look at.

2 Corinthians in chapter 5.

This verse here is so crystal clear.

In verse 21, the last verse says, He, God, made Jesus Christ, who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, or literally a sin offering in our behalf.

He was the offering for every one of your sins, saints, therefore every one of the consequences of your sins.

So that we might become the righteousness of God in him, in him, and that we have.

We have become the righteousness of God in him.

So as much as sickness can be put upon God Himself, so it can be put upon you, saints.

And look at the converse of that.

As healthy as God is, so are you in Christ Jesus.

God has provided this complete wholeness, the complete soundness in Christ Jesus.

Praise God.

This truth is designed to be echoed throughout the world everywhere.

Well, in the end, there will be no ill health whatsoever when God restores all things.

And that last verse on your paperwork from Acts 3 says, And he may send Jesus, who has been appointed Messiah for you.

Heaven must welcome him until the times of the restoration of all things which God spoke about by the mouth of his holy prophets from the beginning.

And that he has.

You can find it in the scriptures.

He has spoken about the restoration of all things from the very beginning.

When is this going to take place?

Well, it's been brought through Christ.

It's going to be fully manifested when he comes.

So nothing will get around the wholeness that's in Christ in the end.

Things might seep through the cracks every once in a while in the here and now, but when Jesus Christ returns, he's going to make sure nothing seeps through the cracks.

That last paragraph, Saints, this point needs to be made.

Psalm 107, 20.

See, so many healings, so much wholeness has resulted from God's people just hearing his word.

See that the word of God enters and you know that the wholeness of God is yours.

See, if that hasn't happened yet, then this teaching hasn't done its work.

Because when the whole the word of God enters, then the wholeness of God enters.

See, I'm reminded of Psalm 119, 130.

The entrance of thy words giveth light.

It gives understanding to the simple.

Saints, when the entrance of light comes in, when it's welcomed in, when it's accepted, darkness is pressed out.

It's the same spiritually as it is physically.

All sickness, all disease, all lack is a result of the darkness.

All a result of sin.

Whichever way you look at it, all these scriptures we've looked at, everything that is contrary to the way God would have it to be is a result of sin.

Otherwise, we're still in the Garden of Eden.

And you know we're not.

Just take a look around you.

Jesus Christ now has purchased the price to get all of mankind, not just us, out of this category of sin that every sin would be paid for, therefore every consequence of sin.

As this word enters the heart, as it's received, then the wholeness of God is yours.

And many of us have seen this to a great degree.

See that next quote?

The word of the cross is to us the power of God.

So take the time, saints, to consider deeply that Christ's work on the cross provided your deliverance from sin and its consequences.

The power of the truth is designed by God to make us whole.

Therefore, it makes us whole.

And back to our original point and the foundation upon which all these Jehovah titles are going to be shown.

It says from 2 Corinthians 1 again, for all the promises of God in him, in Christ Jesus, are yes, and in him, amen, to the glory of God through us.

Jesus Christ is the manifestation of Jehovah toward us.

In other words, all that God is as Jehovah toward his covenant people at any time, he is to us through the redemptive work of Jesus Christ.

And what did we do to deserve it?

Absolutely nothing.

What did Jesus Christ do to purchase it for us?

Absolutely everything.

Nothing was left undone by his work.

Therefore, it's grace to you, saints.

Praise God for the wholeness that's in Christ.

That's some on Jehovah, our wholeness.

Father, I pray that this message will get out to your people wherever they need to hear it.

That you have provided wholeness in every way, even for all of creation, through the work of your Son, Jesus Christ.

And Father, again, I pray that as His wholeness gets realized by us, as we accept this truth more and more, and it gets manifested, that your church, the body of Christ, will be a living example of the way you would have things to be, Father.

That people that desire to know you would be drawn in by the word of yours that lives in our hearts.

That the church would be a living example of wholeness and deliverance in every way.

And I pray this over all of your people everywhere, through that powerful and delivering name of Jesus Christ, that name that everything is in submission to.
