We miss you guys.

It's Thursday, and it's like we just got done hanging out with you guys last night.

And then it's sad when we come into Thursday and it's like, man.

No bueno.

No bueno.

Like we have so many days before we get to see them again.

So, anyways, we're all kind of just sitting here with Thursday blues.

But hey, we hope you have a great weekend.

Um, one of our podcast listeners actually gave us the suggestion um that we should kind of share our story and how we got involved in student ministry.

So that's how we're gonna open up today, which actually ties in pretty beautifully because part of what we talked about at Converge um on Wednesday night was uh the importance of sharing your story.

And so, anyways, um just another kind of plug if you have podcast intro ideas that you would like to share with myself or Mila or Jesus, we absolutely want to know what those are.

But for right now, what has been suggested to us is how you have gotten involved in student ministry.

So we'll kind of make that like a three, three-week podcast intro today.

Jesus, why don't you tell us how you got started in student ministry?

All right, that's a that's an excellent question.

Well, listen, if you didn't know, um, I got saved as a graduate student.

So, I mean, there was like in my teens, there was there was no church, there were there was none of that.

And even at the beginning of my college years, right?

Because undergrad is your first four years, I got introduced and I got saved as a graduate student.

So student ministry for me didn't begin until I think it was Mila and Naomi kind of got involved in student ministry, right?

We were in Miami, we were predominantly in churches where everybody did everything together, more of a family-centered, uh, no necessarily uh children's ministry existed, but not like a student ministry or anything like that.

So we come to Tallahassee, we plug into Celebration Baptist Church because we're homeschoolers and this is the church that hosted our homeschool community.

So we plug in, all of a sudden they have student ministry, and uh Naomi's off and running, Mila's often running, uh Johan's soon after that, and all of a sudden we're involved because our kids are involved, right?

So we kind of first kind of dig in, and all we're doing is opening up doors, right?

We decided to begin by volunteering.

We volunteered opening up doors, and then all of a sudden I went through like a professional change, right?

I came to Tallahassee for some other reasons tied to work, and there was a need for a youth pastor.

And I am sitting in the group that meets on Sunday, and we were talking about the need to pray and ask for a youth pastor for weeks.

And I'm sitting there completely clueless, like a yeah, okay, that's that sounds like a great idea.

Let's keep praying for that.

And then one day, Pastor David kind of pulled me off to the side.

He wanted to have lunch.

We had lunch, and following that lunch, he got the vibe that the Lord was telling him ask this guy, would he consider?

Is he called?

Is he called to be uh a pastor?

Is he called to pastor this particular ministry?

And uh I kind of got involved as an adult.

So when you see me running around shooting baskets, hey, I'm making up for all that student ministry time I never had.

How about that?

I love that.

There you go.

That's good.

Okay, well, there's two takeaways.

This is not obviously not the entirety of what we're talking about in the podcast today, but there's two very obvious takeaways from that story.

First of all, that the Lord can call you to ministry at any point, anytime, and your yes always needs to be on the table.

So it's just really cool and sweet that uh yeah, that your yes was on the table.

And even as a as an adult who was developing a career in something secular and just wanting to be a godly, faithful man.

Um, but my second takeaway from that story is that I think, I mean, I can say this from my own experience, but I think that all of our students listening would also say, Thank you, Lord, that Jesus Abilas is the student pastor, the student guy.

You are very kind.

A celebration.

So uh, anyways, it's just really a joy and uh uh an evidence of God's grace in my life that I get to work with you and and do student ministry with you.

So, anyways, enough of the savvy stuff.

I'm just kidding.

Excellent.

Um, okay, so we continued in our study in Acts yesterday.

Uh Nola, let me interrupt you just for a little bit.

Yeah, yeah.

Uh do we want everybody to kind of share how they came into student ministry?

Was that caller asking each of us?

Or yes, it it will be in each of us things.

Oh, okay, okay, okay.

But I feel like that will take up a lot of time for sure.

Or all three of us go today.

So we'll do your story today.

Oh, nice.

And then we'll hit up Mila next week.

Let me lead us off.

Great.

Um, so anyways, so we we hopped into Acts two last night, um, and we're continuing in talking about the coming of the Holy Spirit, what that looks like for the early church, what that now means for the not so early church, right?

Um so uh I think what would be helpful is maybe if we just recap the verses that we um talked about last night.

So you started in verse one and then you ended where?

I went all the way to 13, I believe.

All the way to 13.

Okay.

Can I just read that for us really quickly?

Sure.

We're gonna read all that.

Let's rock it.

I'll I'll read it quickly, but I think it might be just helpful as a refresher, especially if somebody didn't come and has no idea what we're talking about.

So uh Acts two, one, and then we'll end in 13.

It says, When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place, and suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting, and divided tongues as a fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven, and at this sound the multitude came together and they were bewildered, because each one was hearing them speak in his own language, and they were amazed and astonished, saying, Are not all these who are speaking Galileans?

And how is it that we hear each of us in his own native language?

Parthians and Medes and Elamites and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontius, and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, Cretans, Arabians.

We hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God.

And they were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, What does this mean?

But others mocking said, They are filled with new wine.

So love it.

Um last night's message was really good and tremendously encouraging to me, even down to the story of how you kind of framed who the disciples were by telling us that they were a bunch of rednecks and then sharing with us that your dad didn't even wear underwear until he was nine years old.

So he said it's not rocking.

He didn't need that.

Well, just to put that in context, but we talked about, so we talked about the Holy Spirit entering someone's life, and all of a sudden people are what being confused, perplexed, they're like befuddled.

And some of them begin to mock.

And so when we talked about all the different responses, one was, aren't these guys Galileans?

And that was meant in a very mocking tone.

Unsophisticated, redneck, and I kind of mentioned there, man, redneck, jíbaro, guajido, these are all terms just for country folk.

And my dad was born and raised in the countries of Puerto Rico.

And then I just simply made the comment for our audience that might have missed it, you know, hey, my dad's super country, like so country, like no underwear until like the age of eight or nine.

And then some people cracked up, and but that's how it was.

You know, just sugarcane and baseball and running through grass, and that was that was pretty much it.

So there you go.

If you are sitting listening to this podcast, feeling like, what do I bring to the table for the purposes of seeing the gospel spread?

It's probably best that you don't bring anything to the table.

Because uh you're a blank that means you're a blank slate for the Lord to be able to use you and He loves to use things that are broken and nothing.

And so anyway, um okay, so I have a couple of questions from last night's message.

Um and one of them was so not the point of the lesson at all.

And honestly, if we need to like Nah, we're not gonna we're not gonna cut it, we're gonna roll with it.

Listen to it.

I just like I was hearing the message and I was like, I know, I know there's a student who has this question.

So I'm just gonna ask it.

Okay.

So is speaking in tongues still something that the church should engage in today?

That's a good question.

That is an excellent question.

Can we ask that question?

Can we go there?

Uh well, you know, hey, we're here.

We're here.

And then what I what I'll say is is, you know, it it depends, you know, some denominations believe that some gifts have ceased, right?

So the whole concept of apostleship, right?

This new entry of God's word freshly entering the world, right?

Um is there a need for tongues?

Right.

In this particular place, we're not talking about tongues in terms of speaking in like a heavenly language that only heaven or someone who has the gift of tongues can interpret, right?

So it in this context, the different tongues that they're talking about there are just different languages, right?

So it's a little different than the question you asked.

But I will go back and I will say, hey, you know, there are some denominations, some understanding of the spirit that says, hey, there are some gifts that are no longer needed and no longer exist.

I'll leave it at that.

Some other folks, hey, that's part of it.

I've been at both sets of churches.

I've been at churches where folks have this gift, they've come up to the front, and there's someone that interprets this gift, and it's decided by the senior pastor at that time whether to hear it or not.

I've been in other churches where that is a gift that has ceased, that's no longer in need.

Um, but I go back, you know, if if I dig into the Bible just a little bit, it talked about the the ability to speak in tongues, right?

The ability to speak this heavenly language, whereas like you yourself don't even understand what's happening.

And it talked about it's best that when you're talking to others to speak clearly.

So that like the whole gift of tongues, as fantastic as that might be, because you know, we're like, oh man, this is like a superpower or something like that, right?

You're literally speaking heavenly language.

It really talked about if our intent is to bring people to the Lord, that specific gift isn't one that helps us at that moment.

Right.

And so that's I mean, I don't have my Bible in front of me to kind of dig that stuff out, but it really talked about how, hey, listen, our intent is to share the word clearly so that they can respond, they can make a decision.

That's a particular gift, whether you believe it's existing or not.

Hey, for the purposes of evangelism, that won't help you right now.

Right.

So, I mean, I'll leave it at that.

And I I I don't know uh who asked the question.

Good question.

It's something that we can definitely talk about, but I go back the context here in terms of the different tongues or the just the different languages that are present.

But that's hey, it's there.

Here we go.

I just knew, like, again, totally not the point of last night's message.

It was a completely different thing.

But I was like, I know this is falling on the ears of students who are like I tried at the moment.

I say, listen, what we're talking about here isn't just speaking weirdly and oddly.

We said two things.

Number one, they're speaking the languages of those present, and then it explains to us, even in this text, it talks to us about what they were saying.

They were all, uh let me see if I have it in front of me.

Let me just dig it back up.

Boop, boop, boop, boop, boop.

All speaking that whoever knows me knows that I go poop, boop, boop, boop, boop all the time.

That's how my mind works a little bit.

Right?

So if you go to Acts chapter 2, verse 11, it says Cretans and Arabs.

Acts 2:11

It says, we hear them declaring the magnificent acts of God in our own languages.

So in this particular context, it is very clear that people are hearing the magnificent works of the Lord.

So it isn't like a heavenly language, in terms of some people uh talk about tongues that way.

In this particular context, people are understanding, and what they're understanding is the greatness of God.

Yeah, that's good.

Thanks for addressing that.

Hey, no problem, no problem.

Um, okay, what was the point of the message last night?

Was I really loved how you tied in uh verse four, which talks about them being filled with the Holy Spirit and speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.

You tied that to Ephesians 2.10 and other uh scriptures as well, but Ephesians 2.10 is one of the ones that stuck out to me, yeah.

Uh, which says, we are created, hold on.

We are God's workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.

Um, and so just kind of touching on the whole idea of the end goal for the disciples was not that they were converted, right?

It was not just that they believe necessarily that Jesus Christ was their savior and their Lord, but then it we we have work to do, right?

Like that's that's a lot of what Axe is kind of communicating to us.

That's not the end of the story.

And we see that also at the end of Matthew 28.

I quote that often, like we have to get busy.

It's not enough to just sit in our churches and do good Christian things and sit under teaching and do absolutely nothing with it, right?

So my question to kind of follow all of that up is why do you think students sometimes think that the end goal is conversion and not the whole idea of good works which God prepared ahead of time for us to do?

Wow.

Wow, I wish I had a chance to think about that one just a little bit.

I mean, yeah, I mean, I mean, you have the Lord's word, right?

And that same word could be used to evangelize, right?

Bring someone who is completely disinterested or simply curious to becoming a believer.

But that same word for a believer is used to educate, right?

So you have to evangelize and educate both with the same word, and it depends where you're at in your discipleship pathway.

Um, yeah, that's an excellent question.

I I don't want to say that people are being lazy.

Uh I wanna I don't want to say that people maybe didn't finish reading the sentence.

Uh, but most of the time um yeah, I think I think if you get caught up with let's just say if you get caught up with with numbers in the room, it it's very hard to measure the depth of someone's growth.

Right?

And so all of a sudden you have the word being used to disciple, and that's hard to quantify.

But the word used to evangelize, yeah.

So I think I'm thinking the emphasis in terms of hey, conversion, conversion, conversion, there's little talk of what happens afterwards in in some circles, but that's definitely not the case here.

I think it might just might be tied to that can be quantified where the other ones can't, right?

I mean, unfortunately, you know, you want to think about um uh not growth, but but you know, how do you measure if what you're doing is effective?

It's hard.

You know, when you look at students and you realize, man, that that kid's now acting like a believer.

It's not difficult for us because we're in we're we're in the trenches, right?

We we we can tell kids believers, disciples, disciple makers.

We're we're in that.

Um but but if you don't take the time for that, uh the easy thing to do is just to count number of this and number of that, and then what happens?

You're you're basically only using the word to evangelize.

And I think I think that may answer your question.

That's my my thinking on that.

I think, you know, why why is it that there's just a lot talking about, hey, maybe conversion is the the goal.

Maybe only because, you know, maybe that's something that some people just ask for.

Um I'm gonna go back.

Uh, you know, it's it's a little it's a little lazy.

The Bible's super duper clear.

The goal is not conversion, the goal is disciple making.

So there's work to do.

And so, I mean, I think at least at Celebration Baptist, I mean, uh, you ladies do a great job with girls' discipleship.

We got an upcoming late girls retreat.

Man, hey, listen, hot take, you ready?

There's a shirt attached to this thing.

And that shirt is fire.

I will tell you that.

Ladies, you need to look into that.

But yeah, discipleship.

Discipleship's a real thing, and we just gotta finish the sentence.

That's all.

Just finish the sentence.

As a matter of fact, always finish the sentence.

You know, I mean, if I'm a believer, if I'm a believer and I'm gonna say, okay, well, listen, after not a believer, if I was just simply curious and someone comes and brings the gospel, I think I've mentioned this a couple different times.

Hey, you're asking me to buy these shoes, how do they feel?

So you better have your testimony ready, right?

That's what your testimony.

You want me to buy these sneakers?

Great.

How do they feel when you put them on?

Oh, you don't put them on, right?

So we have that issue.

So to avoid that, when you're saying, hey, this is something that's for you, it's followed by your testimony.

And I think the next question that if you're thinking critically, you would say, Okay, let's say I do this, then what?

Ah, now you can finish the sentence and say, Hey, that same Lord is is is is is who's gonna guide you, right?

Become the authority and the ruler in your life.

And so all of a sudden, now there is a maturing that takes place.

So what happens after conversion?

You grow, you become holy.

You don't know what that means yet, but hey, we're gonna cover that later.

That's my thought.

Yeah, yeah.

And I think you're touching on because my answer would have been a little bit different.

Doesn't make it wrong.

I just think maybe we might be tapping into uh a guy girl difference, maybe like uh uh I it's weird because I've been having this conversation multiple times this week.

So I don't know, the Lord's just like I guess sovereign.

But anyways, uh yeah, we're going deep this episode.

Um yeah, uh I think maybe for guys it might be that the holdup on uh the angle not being just that you surrender your life to Christ and kind of just show up to church and do what you need to absolutely do, being kind of res a a result of some passivity that we've been seeing since Adam, right?

So like maybe it's a little bit of laziness, but I think for well, I don't know.

I don't think this is just a girl thing.

I think maybe this is also just kind of across the board.

But uh for for me in my experience, I think it was ignorance.

Like I I think it was Okay, yeah, I like it.

I just didn't know.

I genuinely thought that I was just supposed to go to church and and not curse and not drink and not do drug.

Like it was about what you do and don't do instead of like uh fostering and continuing to grow in love for the Lord and then the overflow of that being, I just want to leverage every minute and every thought and every outfit.

I mean, just like literally leverage every single aspect of my life for the sake of the gospel.

And so um, anyways, yeah, I I'm not saying that that's like everybody's issue.

Some people know, like some people do know.

I literally just had a conversation with a girl recently who was like, Yep, I I know that I'm supposed to grow.

I just don't really I don't want to.

It feels like working.

You know, yes.

So uh so anyways, any thoughts on that?

Mimi.

Hmm.

Why do you think students sometimes think the end goal is conversion and not discipleship?

I think that like we just come to our own conclusion of kind of like, well, I'm saved and then I go to heaven and I'm good.

I think for me also it was like the ignorance of just not knowing discipleship wasn't just for those who are in the Bible, right?

Like I didn't know that, and so I didn't need to grow in my mind.

Um, so I don't know.

Of course, I work with girl the girls a lot one-on-one, but also just talking with the kids in general.

I think the feedback that I've gotten is like I just didn't know this, like no one told me.

I think when it comes to uh things about the Bible, we're very willing to be told, but we're not necessarily willing to dive in for ourselves because we don't know how to.

And I think once you kind of get to that place of like, I don't know how to grow, and no one's kind of telling me, I don't know who to ask, you just give up.

And so I think that's just where I was.

I was like, I'm good, like I don't know what else to do.

And then uh y'all were like, lock in, Mila.

And I was like, Oh, I didn't know that was a thing.

And if I can say, while Mila was talking, I I really thought, because yesterday we're sitting in a small group, and it's like, okay, hey, listen, the first thing you have to do when obviously you come to the Lord and people begin to notice this change and people are perplexed, confused, or whatever maybe.

I said, the first thing you gotta do is you gotta be able to articulate what is the gospel.

Yeah, what is the good news?

So as Mila was talking, I really saw the word the good news with a period at the end.

And and and and I think and I think we probably those that are delivering this message, not necessarily those that are receiving it, but definitely us that are receiving it.

We need to say that the good news continues.

Absolutely.

It's already that, you know, what's that concept that the already but not yet?

Like, hey, listen, a good job responding to the call, but the good news.

News remains and it must be taken forward to the next one.

That's where you come in.

So I just really just got the whole image of uh the good news being a period, and I can see success.

Check that box.

Let's go.

You want me to what?

You want me to erase the period?

You want me to put a comma.

You want me to add some words to that?

Hey, listen, you should just be happy I'm here.

Right?

And so then what we could do, right?

Is it just just maybe when we when we communicate what is the good news, what is the gospel, just reminding them that it's a continual thing.

Maybe that's we can do that.

We can work on that.

Student ministry celebration, we'll do that.

Yeah.

And it is uh uh going back to uh Pastor David's sermon on uh Sunday, it it's work, right?

Like uh first Timothy, hold on, let me read it really quickly so I don't butcher it because I don't have it memorized.

It's first Timothy Ah my bad.

Y'all can't see me, but I'm trying to pull it up on my phone and my phone's acting crazy.

Anyways, first Timothy uh four ten says for to this end we toil and strive because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the savior of all people, especially of those who believe, right?

So, like there's this idea of walking with Christ requiring work.

Work is not a result of the fall.

It's a good thing that we work and toil and strive.

So it does require effort on our part.

But um, I know that both of the people that are sitting in front of me would absolutely agree with this statement that there is nothing else more worthwhile than to toil and strive for the sake of the gospel in every aspect of your life.

It's truly, and that's where I feel like kind of girls might be just a little bit different, is like when you say, hey, these are the things that you now need to be doing to foster your relationship with the Lord, girls are typically pretty go-getters, right?

And like almost sometimes to a fault, but maybe more or less for the good of just like being disciplined and getting things done.

Uh, if you give somebody a checklist, hey, these are the things that you need to be doing, girls tend to be a little bit more like, let's go.

Like, okay, I if you're even if it's just for the sake of like maybe even being a people pleaser and being like, I like Mila, and Mila's telling me I need to read my Bible, so I don't want to show up next week and not have like having read my Bible.

But um, you know, but the more you do dis spiritual disciplines, the more that you share the gospel, the more that you're in the word, the more that you see uh your prayers answered, the more that you realize, man, it's so much better to be an active part of what the Lord wants to do in Tallahassee, in my home, in my school, on my team.

And it's so much more fulfilling to live life that way than it was to just simply go to church, hear somebody teach, be like, love acts too, and move on with life completely unchanged.

And that and that goes back to the main point because I think you asked, hey, what was the main point?

We just read the whole thing.

You said the main point was sitting somewhere in verse four, and it was.

And it was it says there as the spirit enabled them, right?

Because very easily you can like go through all of Acts and you can see all these people doing all these things.

And so we go back recognizing that hey, we want to honor the creator, not the created.

We want to honor uh the one who prepared the work ahead of time instead of the one who actually did the work.

You know what I mean?

Not the actual the one who did the work, but we're actually, you know, the the the person themselves.

And so I I kind of centered yesterday's message on the spirit enabling, right?

And so all of a sudden, man, there is work to do.

There is no period, there's just a continual going, and that going, right, is done with the spirit.

You had mentioned Ephesians 2.10, but I also used Philippians 2.13, and it says here, for it is God who is working in both to will and to work according to his good purpose.

So the whole concept of both the inner desire and the outward strength to do what needs to be done for the kingdom.

He's provided both of those.

So, you know, hey man, come on in.

You're fully equipped to roll.

Mm-hmm.

Yeah.

And that doesn't mean like mila and I were just talking before we walked into the podcast studio.

That doesn't mean that, you know, even though there's constantly work to do and it's worth doing, it doesn't mean that your your weakness doesn't start to show a little bit every once in a while and your body starts to get tired.

Or for me, it's not even necessarily my body being tired, but my mind being distracted.

And it's like, so there are moments where it's just like you gotta remember it's not gonna be super easy to get God's work done, but you absolutely have been equipped with the spirit to help you get it done, right?

Um, and so that's a that's a good reminder too.

Thank you for reading uh Philippians 2 13, because that's also key, right?

Like he shows up in the midst of our weaknesses, he shows up on the scenes when it's like, I don't want to show up today, I don't want to do what God has called me to do.

So that's good.

Um well, we had a a special guest in our seventh and eighth grade girls group yesterday because Mila was not feeling super well, and then I was supposed to take over for Mila, but then I got caught up in a conversation with a student, a great conversation with a student.

Um, and so I show up in the gym and Jesus has these seventh and eighth grade girls circled up on the gym floor.

Uh so Jesus, you normally are heavily on the guy side of things.

Were there any like, I don't know, takeaways from small group last night, getting to hang out with some middle school girls?

Immediate takeaways.

So, first and foremost, and if you've ever been in any of my groups, uh, I'm not about high low buffalo, but we said we gotta do some high low buffalo.

Yeah, we're gonna be able to do that because I listen.

I just need to know Buffalo.

I just want to know something different.

I want to know something different and unique that occurred.

And you know what?

We went around an entire, an entire um um circle.

I don't know, maybe it was like 15, 20, I don't know how many we have.

And and this was what I found unique, very different than the boys' group.

Like, nobody talked about Florida State football, nobody talked about some sport, every like, okay, hey, okay, guys, what do you guys want to pray for?

So, these are the groups I run.

Hey guys, what do you want to pray for?

That Florida State wins.

That that that we crush this other team, or or you know, some of our kids that this other team loses.

They're not even voting for a team.

They want me to literally pray that some other team loses.

And and and we go around the entire circle and maybe one person.

It's either centered around uh school doing something related to some school sport and achieving it or making the team or some professional team, and we just go around the whole circle and you really didn't find anything necessarily out about the kid themselves, right?

We go around this particular circle.

People are talking about being in ballets and uh taking tests and uh and their nail broom and their nails breaking.

Definitely not that's not gonna happen in a boy group.

Uh but but yeah, yeah, it was it was super cool, right?

Because there's just a level, uh, a different level of sharing that the girls are more comfortable with that seem a lot funner and more personal, right?

Would allow me to learn more about them than uh than my typical boy group.

Yeah, that was that was fun.

That's hilarious.

They're the best, they're funny.

Okay, well, so nothing particularly spiritual, it was just a completely different vibe.

Okay, that was that was fun.

That was fun.

Okay, sounds good.

Well, that's pretty much all of the questions that I had.

Was there anything that you didn't get to say last night that you would have liked to you were like, Man, I really wish I would have been able to say this, or yeah, no, I don't really have anything.

I mean, I mean, next week, um, next week we hit um Peter's first sermon.

Right?

Um, you know, Peter has now received the gift of the Holy Spirit, and just like when the gift of the Holy Spirit lands on somebody, you explode forward.

I mean, let's look at Jesus, right?

Jesus received the Spirit, his public ministry then launches.

The disciples, right?

We have right now the Holy Spirit just landed on them.

Now their public ministry is about to explode forward.

So we're gonna get a chance.

And so that's what's gonna happen next week.

It'll be the sermon, a sermon about a sermon.

Um, well, as we kind of close today's podcast episode, something that we forgot to do last week was give announcements.

So uh just like want to plug a couple of things that we have going on in student ministry.

Um, first of all, we have let's see, Girls' Bible study on Tuesdays.

So come hang out with us.

Um, Olivia Hendricks is teaching.

So super excited for her to share a word from Genesis.

That's what we've been doing.

So six to eight, my apartment.

If you need my address, hit me up.

Um, if you don't have my number, hit somebody else up.

Um do you want to talk about guys?

Let me just hit a boys' ministry, right?

So we got bull boys.

Boys' discipleship.

We have it Wednesdays.

It goes from 4:30 to 5:30.

We're going over just the different names in the Bible used for Jesus and the different names used for the Holy Spirit.

Uh, week number one, we covered Emmanuel, right?

God is with us, talks about the whole incarnation, right?

God becoming man.

So that's what the word Emmanuel kind of grasps.

Last week we covered the word lordship.

This week we covered the word king, right?

Because I'm gonna reverse Jesus King or Jesus Lord or Jesus Emmanuel.

So yeah, come find out all these names because every name tells you something just a little different about Jesus.

Nice.

That sounds fire.

I might have to pop into always discipleship sometime.

Um I think the last thing that we need to announce, is there anything in October?

I don't think so.

I don't think so either.

Anyways, uh the girls' retreat, yes.

The girls retreat is coming up the very first weekend in October.

And last time I checked, we only had 14 spots left.

So time to get after it.

Uh, we're gonna be addressing the two greatest commandments.

Um, if you know our lovely women's ministry director, Morty Walker, she's gonna be addressing what it looks like to love your neighbor.

And actually, one of my friends from back at home, uh, somebody that I knew from college, is gonna come teach on loving the Lord your God.

So uh her name is Madison Seidel.

She's one of my dear friends.

Um, she's also in the student ministry world.

Her husband is a student pastor.

So, um, anyways, so that's the girls' retreat.

You're gonna want to come.

It's yeah, for sure.

It's gonna be amazing.

I mean, how can we go wrong with the biggest thing?

You're not allowed to come.

Beach.

Yeah, no boys allowed.

So um, anyway, uh, well, I blessed us the first time, Mila blessed us last week.

You want to give us the blessing, Pastor Jesus?

What you got?

Let's do it.

Let's make it happen.

Lord, we love you, we need you, we thank you so much for the wonderful opportunity just to simply read your word yet again.

Anytime we get a chance to do that, Lord, we are blessed.

And Lord, also those ears that hear this are blessed.

Bless all the students in our ministry, bless all the students that are just in Tallahassee, Lord.

Allow them to go forward and bring light wherever they go.

We love them.

We love you in Jesus' name.
