  16. Now, let's hear the message. I thank you for

  17. each and every person here, Lord, and I ask that

  18. they would leave change today. In Jesus' name

  19. we pray. Amen. Amen. Well, good morning, everyone.

  20. Hey, how are we doing today? All right, do me

  21. a favor. High five your neighbor and say, I love

  22. Jesus. If you're joining us from home, I love

  23. you. Thank you for welcoming us into your space.

  24. All right, listen, I do want to highlight, you

  25. heard my wife Jessica talk about the tie -dye

  26. run in Ruck. It is coming up in a couple weeks,

  27. but I have some bad news. Can I share bad news

  28. with you? Well, I'm going to anyway. We only

  29. have 39 runners currently signed up, okay? Last

  30. year, we had 140 runners. The year before, we

  31. had almost 180 runners. So let me remind you,

  32. okay? All this, the reason we're doing this run

  33. is for Micah's Backpack. We serve over 100 children

  34. every single week food. through the public education

  35. system, and provide them meals for the weekend

  36. when they go home. So all the money from this

  37. run and ruck, from the race that we're doing,

  38. and the harvest party, or whatever they're calling

  39. it afterwards, is all going to the kids. It's

  40. all going to Micah's backpack. So if you haven't

  41. signed up to run, sign up. If you haven't signed

  42. up to walk, sign up. If you want to really compete,

  43. sign up. Or you know someone that runs, invite

  44. them to come and participate in the event. And

  45. we also need many, many volunteers. So please

  46. stop by the Welcome Hub, grab some flyers, sign

  47. up to run, be a part of that. Listen, we are

  48. changing lives through Micah's backpack. I mean,

  49. Steve, go talk to Steve. Steve delivers all the

  50. meals to the different elementary schools. And

  51. he literally knows children by name. They run

  52. up and they say, oh, Mr. Steve, thank you so

  53. much for giving us food and allowing us to eat

  54. for the weekend. And that is real. And the reason

  55. we're doing the run is to support that food so

  56. it can continue to happen. Amen? All right. So

  57. have you ever noticed? How easy it is to take

  58. credit for things when life is going well. Right?

  59. When the business is successful, yeah, I worked

  60. hard for this. When the family's doing well,

  61. I must be doing something right. Right? When

  62. we reach a goal, overcome an obstacle, when we

  63. accomplish something significant, we naturally

  64. want to celebrate. And listen, there's nothing

  65. wrong with celebrating. what God has allowed

  66. us to accomplish. But there is a danger when

  67. we begin to celebrate what God has done without

  68. remembering who made it possible. See, pride,

  69. pride has a way of shifting our focus off of

  70. God and putting it on ourselves. It turns, look

  71. what God has done into look what I have accomplished.

  72. And the problem with pride is that it rarely

  73. announces itself. See, pride doesn't always look

  74. like arrogance, as most people think. Sometimes

  75. it's self -sufficiency. Sometimes it sounds like

  76. I don't need anyone's help. Sometimes it comes

  77. down to just forgetting to thank God for a meal

  78. that he provided for us. See, we are currently

  79. in a series called Chameleon, choosing conviction

  80. over conformity, a journey through the book of

  81. Daniel. And these events that we've been discussing

  82. in this book took place about 600 years before

  83. the life of Jesus. And the major theme that is

  84. weaved throughout the book is that there are

  85. two competing kingdoms, the kingdom of God and

  86. the kingdom of darkness. We learned in week one

  87. that Israel was conquered by King Nebuchadnezzar

  88. of Babylon. He destroyed the city, the temple,

  89. the land, and he took all the influential leaders

  90. back to Babylon as captives, where they would

  91. be brainwashed into Babylonian culture, and they

  92. would become leaders for the king and his kingdom.

  93. Daniel, of course, was one of those influential

  94. young people, and through a number of different

  95. circumstances, he proved to the king that he

  96. was a natural leader. He had integrity and courage,

  97. and he had this spiritual gift of hearing from

  98. God, interpreting dreams, and foretelling the

  99. future. Daniel was actually elevated the second

  100. in command in the entire empire, and through

  101. this process, Daniel begins to build this deep

  102. friendship with the king. So much so, that King

  103. Nebuchadnezzar began to find a reverence and

  104. respect for his God, for the God that we follow

  105. today. Now, when we first met Daniel, he was

  106. a teenager being taken into captivity. Fast forward

  107. to today's discussion, and Daniel is now 50 years

  108. old. And once again, he's needed by the king.

  109. And this is a reminder that this is kind of how

  110. life works. Right? This book is a picture of

  111. Daniel's life. And this book spans many, many

  112. years. And the reality is the miraculous doesn't

  113. always happen in our life. There are going to

  114. be days when you go to work and you serve at

  115. work and you come home and you take care of your

  116. children and you serve your children and you

  117. go to bed at night exhausted and you thank God

  118. for that day and you thank God for his blessings

  119. and that may be all that happened. And that's

  120. okay. Because you know why? God is still working

  121. in your life. Just because miracles aren't happening

  122. doesn't mean God isn't around. And we learn that

  123. in the life of Daniel. Remember, King Nebuchadnezzar

  124. had everything the world could offer. He had

  125. power, wealth, influence, and a kingdom that

  126. seemed unstoppable. But see, somewhere along

  127. the way, he began to confuse the blessings of

  128. God with the greatness of himself. Listen to

  129. how he describes his kingdom in Daniel chapter

  130. 430. As he looked out across the city, he said,

  131. Look at this great city of Babylon. By my own

  132. mighty power, I have built this beautiful city

  133. as my royal residence to display my majestic

  134. splendor. Did everyone hear that? I have built

  135. it. It was my power. It was my glory. See, Nebuchadnezzar

  136. had become so impressed with himself that he

  137. had forgotten the God who had allowed him to

  138. rise to power. We're going to learn today that

  139. God's about to remind him of something every

  140. one of us needs to remember. When pride takes

  141. the throne, when pride is in our life, then praise

  142. takes a back seat. But see, God never intended

  143. for us to live consumed with ourselves. He created

  144. us to be in relationship with him, to celebrate

  145. his faithfulness and his goodness, and to give

  146. him glory, which he deserves. See, Nebuchadnezzar's

  147. story isn't just about a proud king who needed

  148. to be humbled. It's all of our stories. It's

  149. about what happens when we forget who is really

  150. in control and how God lovingly brings us back

  151. to a place where our lives will bring him the

  152. glory, which leads us to our first thought. See,

  153. God doesn't give up on people. He pursues them.

  154. God doesn't give up on people. He pursues them.

  155. And when you look back through King Nebuchadnezzar's

  156. spiritual journey, through the first four chapters

  157. of the book of Daniel, right, God has been revealing

  158. himself to the king. He's heard the testimonies.

  159. He's seen the fruit of following God. He's had

  160. dreams. He's had interpretations. He's even acknowledged

  161. that Daniel's God is above every other God. And

  162. this first section of the book covers nearly

  163. 30 or 40 years. God has been pursuing this man

  164. for over 30 years. Aren't we glad that God pursues

  165. us? See, God is pursuing you. He's pursuing me.

  166. And why does he do this? Because he loves us.

  167. See, God sees where our choices are taking us.

  168. He sees the pride we don't see. He sees the compromises

  169. we've justified, the wounds that we carry through

  170. our life and the direction our lives are heading.

  171. And because he loves us, he refuses to simply

  172. stand by and watch us destroy ourselves. God

  173. doesn't pursue us because he needs something

  174. from us. He pursues us because he knows we need

  175. him. See, church, he didn't want us to spend

  176. our lives chasing after success or possessions

  177. or recognition or relationships or temporary

  178. pleasures, only to discover that we've gained

  179. the whole world and are still completely empty.

  180. He created you, he created me for so much more.

  181. He created us to know him, to walk with him,

  182. and to experience the life that he intended for

  183. us. And sometimes God's pursuit is a wake -up

  184. call. Look at Daniel 4, 13 to 14. Then I, as

  185. I lay there dreaming, I saw a messenger, a holy

  186. one, coming down from heaven. The messenger shouted,

  187. cut down the tree and lop off its branches. Shake

  188. off its leaves and scatter its fruit. Chase the

  189. wild animals from its shade and the birds from

  190. its branches. See, in his dream, King Nebuchadnezzar

  191. quickly learned, through Daniel's interpretation

  192. of this dream, that he may have been king of

  193. this land. of the territory which he controlled,

  194. but God is king of the world. And God was revealing

  195. to Nebuchadnezzar what was about to happen to

  196. him. And church, I am so grateful that God never

  197. gives up on us. He never gives up on us. And

  198. for more than 30 years, God has been pursuing

  199. this king. And think about it. Through all of

  200. his pride, his arrogance, his sin, his negativity,

  201. all the evil and all the people that were murdered

  202. and killed, God desired for him to experience

  203. abundant life. And I want you all to hear this.

  204. There's nothing we can do to keep God from pursuing

  205. us. There's no sin too great. And I've heard

  206. it so often. Oh, I messed up again. I did this,

  207. Chris. I did that. So what? Repent and go back

  208. to God. Because he's pursuing you. There's no

  209. valley too low that would discourage God from

  210. loving on us or pursuing us. And how do I know

  211. that? Well, Jeremiah 31 .3 tells us this. Long

  212. ago, the Lord said to Israel. Now, please understand,

  213. that's Old Testament. And Israel was God's chosen

  214. people. Fast forward to today. If you're in a

  215. relationship with Jesus, you are God's chosen

  216. people. I have loved you. My people, with an

  217. everlasting love, with unfailing love, I have

  218. drawn you to myself. See, from the moment you

  219. were born, God has been pursuing your heart because

  220. his greatest desire is for you and me to be in

  221. relationship with him. And not only does God

  222. pursue us, but he's patient with us as well.

  223. I mean, Nebuchadnezzar proclaimed in the opening,

  224. look at this great city. It's my power. It's

  225. my city. It's where I live. It's my majestic

  226. splendor. Right? In his arrogance, the king believed

  227. it was him who achieved all the success. And

  228. see, that is when God said, enough is enough.

  229. It is time for you to be humbled. And the crazy

  230. thing is, from the time he had his dream to the

  231. interpretation of the dream from Daniel to the

  232. point that he was humbled by God, it was another

  233. year. It's another year, an entire year. And

  234. again, God is trying to show us that he's patient

  235. with us. And he desires all of humanity to come

  236. into a loving relationship with him. Look at

  237. 2 Peter 3, 9. The Lord isn't really being slow

  238. about his promise, as some people think. No,

  239. he's being patient for your sake. He does not

  240. want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone

  241. to repent. God is pursuing us. Which leads us

  242. to our next thought. God humbles the proud. See,

  243. pride is humanity's biggest obstacle. I don't

  244. need God. That's for weak people. I don't need

  245. God. I'm doing just fine without him. And I always

  246. hear that in that confidence being spoken. That

  247. is, until there's a crisis or a struggle comes

  248. our way or temptation overtakes us. I mean, here's

  249. the reality. 98 % of all sin issues in our life

  250. is connected to some aspect of pride. And how

  251. do I know that? Well, the first sin ever recorded

  252. in the Bible was pride. Satan rebelled against

  253. God and allowed pride to fill his heart thinking

  254. he was as good as God. So let me remind you,

  255. pride is destructive. Look at Daniel chapter

    Daniel 4:4

  256. 4 verse 4 and 29 to 31. I, Nebuchadnezzar, was

  257. living in my palace in comfort and prosperity.

  258. I want to pause there just for a second. That's

  259. us. In our culture, we tend to live in comfort

  260. and prosperity. We're the wealthiest nation in

  261. the world. And notice what happens. Twelve months

  262. later, he was taking a walk on the flat roof

  263. of the royal palace in Babylon. And that's when

  264. he made that statement. It's all about me. And

  265. I want to challenge you, guard against becoming

  266. comfortable. Because the second we become comfortable

  267. in who we think we are, is the second that pride

  268. can enter into us and pull us away from God.

  269. And we can say things, by my own mighty power,

  270. I have built this city. I have built my life.

  271. I have built my business. While these words are

  272. still in his mouth, a voice called down from

  273. heaven. Oh, King Nebuchadnezzar, this message

  274. is for you. You are no longer ruler of this kingdom.

  275. And God spoke directly to him. And here's the

  276. reality. Success can elevate us, right? Position

  277. can elevate us. Money can elevate us. And the

  278. more we climb the ladder of success, of the culture

  279. that we live in, the more we're doing it what?

  280. On our own. And unfortunately, when we get to

  281. the top of the ladder, if our focus is on us,

  282. and our focus is on look at me, look what I have

  283. done, then we're looking down at others. And

  284. not only are we looking down at others, but we

  285. have nothing around us to catch us or support

  286. us. It's dangerous when we think we have it all

  287. together. And the world tells us that's how we

  288. should live. But when we're on top and it's just

  289. about us, that's when things get shaky. And that's

  290. when it's difficult to stand. See, God is not

  291. impressed at how high we climb if we forget that

  292. he gives us the strength to climb up it. And

  293. we come to a point in life where we humble ourselves

  294. before God or he's going to do it for us. And

  295. how do I know that? Listen to Jesus' words in

  296. Matthew 23, but those who exalt themselves will

  297. be humbled. And those who humble themselves will

  298. be exalted. God lowers the proud and he lifts

  299. up the humble. And when we walk in humility,

  300. God will lift us up. He'll promote us. He'll

  301. use us. He'll give us opportunities to share

  302. the good news. But if it's all about you and

  303. you choose not to acknowledge that it all comes

  304. from God, then he's gonna be against you. See,

  305. God has a problem with pride. Look at James chapter

  306. four, verse six. And he gives grace generously,

  307. as the scriptures say, God opposes the proud,

  308. but gives grace to the humble. So this morning,

  309. is God opposing you? Because maybe he's trying

  310. to get your attention to wake you up to the reality

  311. of our third thought. See, a life of sin, leads

  312. to death. Unchecked sin can cause us to become

  313. a person we don't want to be. Continuing on in

  314. Daniel chapter 4 verse 33, that same hour the

    Daniel 4:33

  315. judgment was fulfilled and King Nebuchadnezzar

  316. was driven from human society. He ate grass like

  317. a cow and he was drenched with the dew of heaven.

  318. He lived this way until his hair was long as

  319. eagles feathers and his nails were like birds

  320. claws. And it's interesting, since we're now

  321. living in the AI era, I wanted to see this image

  322. of King Nebuchadnezzar come to life. So I took

  323. these exact verses that we just read, and I asked

  324. AI to create an image for me. Do you want to

  325. see it? All right, check this out. Now think

  326. about this. Look at that image. Think about this.

  327. The most powerful man in the world. His kingdom

  328. controlled the known world 600 years before Jesus.

  329. And God humbled him to the point that he lived

  330. like an animal. God humbled him to the point

  331. that he was no longer recognizable. And this

  332. is what can happen to us if we allow sin to control

  333. our life. See, we were created to live in relationship

  334. with God, following his ways. But when we choose

  335. to live a life of sin, we're moved by our own

  336. desires and impulses. We lose our humanity and

  337. we allow the world and the culture to dictate

  338. how we live. Paul says it this way in Romans

  339. 8, those who are dominated by the sinful nature

  340. think about sinful things, but those who are

  341. controlled by the spirit think about things that

  342. please the spirit. So letting your sinful nature

  343. control your mind leads to death. But letting

  344. the Spirit control your mind leads to life and

  345. peace. See, unchecked or hidden sin that we don't

  346. think anyone knows about leads us away from God.

  347. You know that prayer request? When you're in

  348. a group, growth groups have started, jump in

  349. a group, maybe you're in a group, and there's

  350. a prayer request, and someone says, unspoken,

  351. I want to look back and say, hidden sin. Like

  352. if we can't speak it, what is it? It's hidden

  353. sin. And here's the reality. God knows our hearts.

  354. He knows what we're struggling with. And he just

  355. simply desires that we give it back to him. Right?

  356. That we seek forgiveness, that we repent, that

  357. we turn from our selfish desires and we allow

  358. him to have control over every area of our lives.

  359. So during our Sunday gatherings, I want to encourage

  360. you, church, stop ignoring the Holy Spirit. When

  361. he reveals areas of our lives that need to change,

  362. be obedient. James 5, 16, confess your sins to

  363. each other, pray for each other, so you may be

  364. healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person

  365. has great and powerful and wonderful results.

  366. See, there's grace and there's peace and there's

  367. hope. There is meaning for us when we stop hiding

  368. and we allow God to have control of our lives,

  369. which leads us to our forethought. See, when

  370. we cry out, God hears, forgives, and restores.

  371. Continue with Nebuchadnezzar's story, Daniel

    Daniel 4:34

  372. 4, verse 34. After this time had passed, I, Nebuchadnezzar,

  373. looked up to heaven. My sanity returned, and

  374. I praised and worshiped the Most High and honored

  375. the One who lives forever. His rule is everlasting

  376. and his kingdom is eternal. And notice the progression

  377. of the king's life. He looked around and was

  378. full of pride. Look what I did. He looked within

  379. and was completely broken, became an animal,

  380. if you will. He looked up and he found God. See,

  381. the breakthrough came when Nebuchadnezzar stopped

  382. looking at himself and started looking at God.

  383. See, his story didn't end with humiliation. It

  384. ended with restoration and worship. And God may

  385. humble us, but God's goal isn't to destroy us,

  386. it's to restore us. The prophet Jeremiah says

  387. it this way, in chapter 29, verse 12 to 14, in

  388. those days when you pray, I will listen. If you

  389. look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me

  390. and I will be found by you, says the Lord. I

  391. will end your captivity and restore your fortunes.

  392. I will gather you out of the nations where I

  393. sent you and bring you home again to your own

  394. land. God will find us when we seek him. When

  395. we humble ourselves and cry out in our brokenness,

  396. he hears us. Jesus promises us in Matthew 11,

  397. come to me, all of you who are weary and carry

  398. heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take

  399. my yoke upon you. Let me teach you because I

  400. am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find

  401. rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear

  402. and the burden is light. And see, I believe that

  403. King Nebuchadnezzar's story or journey into a

  404. relationship with God is one that we need to

  405. reflect on and connect with. Because God had

  406. to chase him down for over 30 years. And I don't

  407. want to see you walking for 30 years not in a

  408. relationship with Jesus. So this morning, ask

  409. yourself, Am I in a relationship with Jesus?

  410. Is God still pursuing me? You know, in every

  411. single gathering towards the end, I always pray

  412. a simple prayer every week because I say to you,

  413. there could be someone in this gathering that's

  414. distant, far from God or is walking away. And

  415. I pray this simple prayer, not just for myself,

  416. but for someone that could be distant or far

  417. from God and for you. Those of you that are in

  418. a relationship with Jesus. Because I believe

  419. the more you pray this prayer, the more desperate

  420. you come to want to pray it with someone else.

  421. That it's not intimidating to invite someone

  422. into a relationship with Jesus because you know

  423. it. That you can pray for them and meet their

  424. needs and then invite them. Would you like to

  425. meet Jesus? Because he is the way, the truth,

  426. and the life. He is the one that brings meaning

  427. and purpose to life. So I'm going to invite the

  428. Holy Spirit to come now to search our hearts.

  429. And remember, he already knows our hearts. And

  430. I'm going to invite the Holy Spirit to convict

  431. hearts. And if you're in a relationship with

  432. him, lay it down. Ask forgiveness and turn from

  433. that way. But if you're not in a relationship

  434. with him, this is your opportunity to pray yourself

  435. into a relationship with him, with all of us.

  436. And become a part of the family of God as he

  437. desires for all of us. Let's pray. Come Holy

  438. Spirit. Jesus, I'm broken. I'm full of doubt,

  439. shame, regret, sin. Change me. Forgive me. I

  440. believe you're God's son. I believe you died

  441. for me. I believe. You're alive today. Make me

  442. new. Set me free. Reveal yourself to me. Fill

  443. me with your spirit and help me to serve others.

  444. In Jesus' name, amen. Now listen, if you prayed

  445. that prayer for the first time, see us, stop

  446. by the Welcome Hub, tell us you did it, text

  447. us, do something so we can give you some next

  448. steps on what it means to Pursue an abundant

  449. life. And that intro led us to our action steps.

  450. Giving God the glory. See, to eliminate pride

  451. in our life, we have to bring all glory back

  452. to God. And I want to challenge you this week.

  453. I want to challenge you to put these three steps

  454. into practice every single day. Don't just hear

  455. them. Don't just write them down. But make them

  456. a part of your life because I believe that if

  457. all of us begin to live out these three simple

  458. steps every single day, God will radically change

  459. the tri -state area. The people will hear the

  460. good news. The people will flock to our community

  461. of faith. Why? So Chris can get the glory? So

  462. Rhett can get the glory? No. So God can get the

  463. glory. So that people see a move of God like

  464. they've never seen before. You say, it can happen

  465. here in Hagerstown? Yeah. I mean, think about

  466. it. Then we read about Jesus. Can anything good

  467. come from Nazareth? And we've heard that said

  468. about our own town. And my answer is, yes. A

  469. lot of good can come from Hagerstown. But it's

  470. going to come from the church and the people

  471. that are passionate about God and desiring to

  472. see their city changed. Which leads us to step

  473. one. We need to live a life of love. Doesn't

  474. that sound easy? Be honest. Doesn't it sound

  475. easy? Let's all read it together. Live a life

  476. of love. Do you think you can do that? And it's

  477. easy, right? Heck no, it's not easy. It's impossible.

  478. It's like we can say it, but it's so hard to

  479. do. It's so hard to do. And when we look at Daniel's

  480. life, it's interesting. We see a genuine affection

  481. between Daniel and the king. Listen to Daniel

    Daniel 4:19

  482. chapter 4 verse 19. Upon hearing this, Daniel,

  483. also known as Belteshazzar, was overcome for

  484. a time. Overcome. He couldn't believe it. He

  485. was frightened by the meaning of the dream. Then

  486. the king said to him, Belteshazzar, don't be

  487. alarmed by the dream and what it means. So Belteshazzar

  488. replied. I wish the events foreshadowed in this

  489. dream would happen to your enemies, my Lord,

  490. and not to you. Now think about this. Think about

  491. this. This man was taken from his homeland as

  492. a teenager. His family was murdered. The temple

  493. destroyed. He was dragged off to Babylon where

  494. he was brainwashed, told what to think, how to

  495. live, had his manhood cut off. would never have

  496. a family, would never have children. And now

  497. we're at a point where Daniel has genuine love

  498. for this man. See, Daniel is an example that

  499. through his love for God, that allowed him to

  500. love the lost and to do it well. We can all learn

  501. from this man. As Jesus followers, this world

  502. is not our home. The Bible describes us as exiles

  503. waiting for Jesus' return. But listen, yes, we're

  504. waiting for his return, but Jesus told us we'll

  505. never know the day or hour. So stop trying to

  506. figure it out. I mean, there's paths. today that

  507. believe they have the right number scheme to

  508. say when Jesus is returning and Jesus said you're

  509. never gonna know. So why even try to figure it

  510. out? Like just serve others and love others and

  511. point them to Jesus. That's what we're supposed

  512. to do. And all of you know we're living in a

  513. divided society. It's like you can't be on social

  514. media for more than five minutes without getting

  515. sick on your stomach. But we, the church, We

  516. should not be known for what we hate. We should

  517. not be known for what we're against. We should

  518. be a place where people come and get built up.

  519. That's what it's all about. It's about building

  520. each other up. And listen, if you're not building

  521. others up, then stop being prideful. Get over

  522. yourself. Because it's not about you. It's about

  523. him. And it's about the kingdom. And we need

  524. to begin to see people how God sees them as sons

  525. and daughters of God. Created in his image that

  526. he desperately wants to love and be in relationship

  527. with. And that's why Jesus said in John 13, I'm

  528. giving you a new commandment. Love each other

  529. just as I have loved you. You should love each

  530. other. Your love for one another will prove to

  531. the world that you're my disciples. So if your

  532. friend who does not believe in Jesus, maybe even

  533. hates God, rolled into our community of faith,

  534. would they see us loving each other that way?

  535. Or would they see divided people arguing, bickering

  536. over issues that mean absolutely nothing and

  537. forgetting it's all about him? We need to learn

  538. to live a life of love, which needs us to step

  539. to. We need to share our Jesus stories. And listen,

  540. your Jesus story has power. And all of us, if

  541. you're in a relationship with God, has a story

  542. to tell. Every single one of us. Listen to Nebuchadnezzar's

  543. story, Daniel 4, 1 through 3. King Nebuchadnezzar

  544. sent this message to the people of every race

  545. and nation and language throughout the world.

  546. Peace and prosperity to you. I want you all to

  547. know about the miraculous signs and wonders the

  548. Most High God has performed for me. How great

  549. are His signs, how powerful His wonders. His

  550. kingdom will last forever. His rule through all

  551. generations. Now remember, those words are written

  552. at the beginning of the chapter. And then we

  553. get into Nebuchadnezzar's story. The point is,

  554. Nebuchadnezzar is sharing his story of life transformation.

  555. Same is true for us. Think about your life before

  556. you met Jesus. For me, there's despair, there's

  557. negativity, there's loneliness, there's lack

  558. of peace, there's insecurities, there's doubt,

  559. there's frustration. Now think about your life

  560. in a relationship with Jesus. You know, for me,

  561. everything's changed. For me, it's all about

  562. the story. It's all about being filled with the

  563. Spirit. It's being empowered by God. And if you

  564. don't have that story, then you have to ask,

  565. am I in a relationship with God? Because that's

  566. what He does to us. He transforms us. And then

  567. we read in Revelation chapter 12, and they have

    Revelation 12 chapter mention

  568. defeated Him by the blood of the Lamb. And that

  569. means we defeat the enemy. We defeat Satan. By

  570. repenting. When the Holy Spirit reveals a sin

  571. in our life, we say, God, forgive me. I want

  572. to no longer walk in that sin. I'm going to turn

  573. from it and go back to you. That's what repent

  574. means. It's not a bad word. That's what the blood

  575. of the Lamb did for us. And so we defeat the

  576. enemy by walking in grace and forgiveness and

  577. by our testimonies. And they did not love their

  578. lives so much that they were afraid to die. And

  579. the point is this. Don't allow the enemy to continue

  580. to keep you down. There's many of you here that

  581. are struggling with insecurities, whether you're

  582. looking in a mirror or how you see yourself or

  583. how you view yourself. You're not good enough.

  584. You're never going to be good. Then tell your

  585. Jesus story. Like you want to overcome sin. You

  586. want to overcome and become a different person.

  587. Tell your Jesus story. Because then you're allowing

  588. the Holy Spirit to empower you. And as you allow

  589. the Holy Spirit to empower you, then you're pointing

  590. others to experience the same new life. Your

  591. story needs to be told because it's your story.

  592. And your story brings glory to God. David says

  593. it this way in Psalm 51. Create in me a clean

  594. heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.

  595. Do not banish me from your presence. And don't

  596. take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me.

  597. the joy of your salvation and make me willing

  598. to obey you. For some of us, we've lost the joy

  599. of our salvation. How do I know that? Because

  600. I listen. And it's much easier to walk through

  601. life complaining, judging, looking at everyone

  602. else, making excuses, pointing fingers, playing

  603. the comparison game. than simply looking back

  604. and saying, God, I'm just so grateful for this

  605. life I'm living. And just like David, we need

  606. to ask God, God, restore in me the joy of your

  607. salvation. That we take the focus off of ourself

  608. and what I'm doing and what I should be doing

  609. and they should be doing, and we just are focused

  610. on him. Which leads us to our third and final

  611. step. That's when we choose praise over pride.

  612. Continuing in Daniel 4, 36, 37, when my sanity

  613. returned to me, so did my honor and glory and

  614. kingdom. Again, Nebuchadnezzar. My advisors and

  615. nobles sought me out and I was restored as head

  616. of my kingdom with even greater honor than before.

  617. Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and glorify and

  618. honor the king of heaven. All his acts are just

  619. and true and he is able to humble the proud.

  620. Those who walk in pride, God humbles. That's

  621. what we learned. And the crazy thing about King

  622. Nebuchadnezzar is he disappears from the Bible

  623. now. You'll never hear him mentioned again. But

  624. for four chapters in the book of Daniel, we see

  625. a man who controlled the known world, was humbled

  626. by God, and now is bringing him glory. He's choosing

  627. praise over pride. And when you reflect on your

  628. life today and all the accomplishments that you

  629. have done or achieved in this life, what do you

  630. see? Do you see your success or do you see God's

  631. greatness? Is your response praise or is it pride

  632. and arrogance? And listen, there's nothing wrong

  633. with accomplishing great things. I believe God

  634. wants all of you to be great and you learned

  635. that three weeks ago. When I challenge you to

  636. be great, But don't take the glory. Be great,

  637. but choose praise over pride. So where are you

  638. today? Are you begrudgingly walking through life

  639. full of negativity and doubt? Are you on top?

  640. You're successful. You've earned the right to

  641. say you have. Because everything's going right.

  642. Or are you struggling? Are you facing difficulties?

  643. Like we learned last week in the fire. Well,

  644. notice what David says in Psalm 34. In fact,

  645. let's all read the first line together. I will

  646. praise the Lord at all times. What does that

  647. say? Sometime. All times. I will constantly speak

  648. his praises. I will boast only in the Lord. Let

  649. all who are helpless take heart. Come, let us

  650. tell the Lord's greatness. Let us exalt his name

  651. together. Amen? Will you stand with me? And listen,

  652. everybody focused up here. Don't look at your

  653. Bibles. Don't pick up your papers. Women, don't

  654. grab your purses. We're not done. Listen, I want

  655. to challenge you with two things. We're about

  656. to worship. So I want you to prepare your heart.

  657. But I want to challenge you to two things. And

  658. the first is this. I don't care who you are.

  659. I don't care how old you are. I don't care how

  660. long you've been coming here, even if this is

  661. your first time here. I want to challenge you

  662. with something. God's in this house. Let your

  663. walls down. Let your walls down today. Seriously.

  664. Let them down. Let your walls down. Right? If

  665. you feel prompted to lift your hands in worship,

  666. do it. Don't care about who's beside you because

  667. if you care about who's beside you or what they

  668. think about you, what is that? Pride. It's pride.

  669. If you're concerned about your voice and you

  670. can't sing and you're going to make a joyful

  671. noise, not song. And you don't sing because you're

  672. worried about what people think about your voice.

  673. What is that? Pride. If God is overcoming you

  674. and you begin to cry and weep, but then you're

  675. like, no, I can't do that. What is that? Pride.

  676. You see, we don't get honest in worship because

  677. we won't let our walls down because we're full

  678. of pride. God wants to change that today, I believe,

  679. in this worship. So I want to challenge you.

  680. Whatever God is revealing to you, allow your

  681. body to do it. If you're crying like a blabbering

  682. child, let it happen. If he wants you to get

  683. on your knees, get on your knees. If he wants

  684. you to lift your arms, lift your arms. If he

  685. wants you to dance, dance. Like it's okay. You'll

  686. do it at the football game at one o 'clock. Amen?

  687. All right. Now, listen. There were several words

  688. of knowledge before we worship. If these are

  689. you, get up here. The prayer team will be on

  690. both sides of the stage. Your right eye hurts.

  691. You have hip bone pain in your left hip. And

  692. listen, when Haron gave me that word last night,

  693. he goes, I've been getting this word for several

  694. weeks and the person won't come forward. That's

  695. pride. You have a bone fracture in your foot.

  696. You have a skin condition in the stomach area.

  697. Your name is Amy and you're worried about a job

  698. situation. So if any of those are you, get up

  699. here and get some prayer. And if you have any

  700. other need, get up here and get some prayer.

  701. Because when we were praying for this gathering,

  702. Randy was praying for us and he saw people flocking

  703. to the front and experiencing the miraculous

  704. in their lives. Amen? So will you sing with me

  705. this morning? Let's raise.
