The Daily Walk | 09.22.2026 | Isak Morehous | Galatians 1:10-12

Good morning and thank you for beginning your day with us.

Have you ever struggled with being a people pleaser?

I don't mean serving other people or using your gift of hospitality or looking out for the needs of others, but what I mean is if you second guess a decision based on what other people are going to say, or maybe you really struggle with envy from other people, or maybe you just really struggle with how people think about you.

All in all, the easy way to think about it is this are you living in the fear of man, or are you living in the fear of the Lord?

Paul in Galatians chapter 1, starting in verse 10, says this.

Galatians 1 · chapter mention

Or am I trying to please man?

If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.

For I would have you know, brothers, that the gospel that was preached by me is not man's gospel.

For I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ.

Here Paul is saying, Hey, I'm a servant of Christ, not man.

And as proof of that, I preach to you the true gospel.

If Paul was a servant of man, he would have preached a gospel that was more attractive, less offensive, easier to digest, but he's not.

He's a servant of Christ.

And the gospel is offensive because it calls us out for who we are, which is sinners in need of a savior.

But how often do we struggle with being a people pleaser?

How often do we find ourselves living in the fear of man instead of the fear of the Lord?

It affects our decisions and sometimes the ways that we behave around other people.

Sometimes we struggle with what are people going to think if I do this or if I say that.

But the reality is that that's not the freedom that we are called to live in.

Proverbs 1 tells us that we are to live in the fear of the Lord.

It says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.

Fools despise wisdom and instruction.

And so my encouragement to you this morning is to really examine your life and think about the decisions over the past day, the past week, the past month, even, and try to identify areas where you're not living in the fear of the Lord.

Another reality of living in the fear of the Lord is that we are boldly proclaiming the good news of who Jesus is.

But if we're being honest, a lot of times we allow fear of man to keep us from boldly proclaiming the gospel.

So that's my challenge to you today.

Examine your life and see are you living in the fear of the Lord or do you find yourself creeping into the fear of man?

Well, I hope that was encouraging to you.

Let's strive to magnify Christ and share the gospel in our homes, the Wimberley Valley, and beyond.
