BOLD Daily Devotional- Touch Not My Anointed

All right, folks.

Well, this evening we're gonna go to 1 Samuel chapter 26.

Now, if I were to have to give a title to this, I would say, Touch not my anointed.

Now, the scripture references for this particular chapter is actually going to be Psalms 105, 15, and 1 Chronicles 16 to 22, which actually states, the Lord says, Touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm.

Now the overview of this chapter is actually once again, David has the opportunity to uh to kill Saul, but he chooses not to.

Instead of clipping his robe like he did before, he actually took his spear and a water jug while Saul and his while Saul and his men were actually sleeping while they slept.

Now, most others would actually would actually uh would actually do something to their nemesis.

Um however, but David didn't David didn't do that.

I believe that David showed grace, mercy, respect, and reverence to God, as well as he has showed a side of himself as you know as being a man after God's own heart.

Now there are some core lessons in this chapter that I'll discuss with you right now.

The first one is be the reverence for authority.

Now, Saul was in authority over David, so and he still, so he still had to, so David still had to respect and to revere the authority, no matter how he was, no matter how he was being treated.

Saul was the king, and David knew that vengeance and vindicate vindication was God's, not his.

As you know, as we know that in the word God says vengeance is mine.

So we should need to we actually need to trust God's timing over human shortcuts, over the things of that way.

Now, the second second core lesson in this one would be integrity in action.

Now, David's actions or lack or lack thereof uh highlight the moral moral ground, proving his loyalty and giving Saul uh excuse me, and giving Saul in the face of his it in the face of his enemy, and well, excuse me, lack of loyalty and you know giving Saul the the grace in the face of and being in the face of his enemy.

Now, also it shows that it shows the undeniable evidence that he is not trying to usurp uh the throne that he will eventually be put on.

And now, thirdly, though, third the third core lesson that we actually learned in this is you know return evil with good.

Now in Proverbs 17 17, 13, it states that if we repay evil for good, a curse is upon our home.

And those who return evil for good will meet will meet their own evil returning.

And why why is that and why does why it works is that you know, first of all, it'll it breaks us.

Why we need to return that, return evil for good, is that it breaks the cycle.

Retaliation only escalates conflict.

An unexpected act of kindness forces the other person to reevaluate their actions.

Secondly, it preserves the peace.

Now holding to holding on to anger and seeking revenge consumes your mental energy.

Uh choosing to respond to respond well protects your emotional well-being, and thirdly, it demonstrates strength why it works, because it takes far more courage and self-control to respond with grace than it does to lash out.

Now, the second part or another part of this can actually be seen, especially in this returning good for returning evil with good, in Romans 12, 17, it states that we are not to repay repay evil for evil, not to give but to give thought.

Thought duty is honorable inside of all.

Now, how how do how do we do this?

You want to say we actually do it by prioritizing peace, respond with kindness, and overcome negativity.

Now, in this particular section, we see that David does all of these things in terms so that he can, as he said, he is a God's after he is a man after God's own heart.

So therefore, he does, and he's at it is actually good that he does all of the things that he did there.

One other thing, and the final core lesson in this particular from this particular chapter that I received is like Saul's flawed repentance.

Now, we all know that repentance means to change and go in completely in the opposite direction.

Now, Saul was relieved that he that he was given another chance, that he was given another chance that David didn't kill him.

And you know, he admits that he was he admits this he admits that he was wrong and that he acted foolishly.

Yet this realization is not paired with true repentance, and he parts ways with David, illustrating that faith, that faith word, that faith words, excuse me, fair words, doesn't always equal a changed heart.

Now, in closing though, I would like to present to you, let us reflect on our own lives.

Have you ever been have you ever been put in such a situation and how did you react or respond?

Now both of these both of these men are are great examples of different spectrums.

So are different from different perspectives from different ways, from different ways.
