Things That Are Disgusting - Pastor Matthew Stucky | Stedfast Baptist Church

All right, amen.

Once again, it's a great opportunity to be here

and I'm just really thankful for this church

and not just supporting me,

but just the friendship of this church.

Many of you have known for a long time,

a lot of you have gotten to know

over the last couple years.

One thing I'm thankful about over the last couple years

is I've really gotten to know Pastor Shelley

because honestly I just didn't really know him

that well a few years ago,

but you got a great church, a great pastor.

Obviously God is using this church in a great way.

And as he said this morning,

he doesn't have a lot of friends.

I don't really have a lot of friends anymore either.

So if you're willing to be my friend,

I'm happy to be friends with you.

And so anyways, but it's a great honor to be here.

And the sermon I'm gonna preach tonight

only fits at this church

because this is in a way a sequel to the sermon

preached a couple of years ago

at the Red Op preaching conference,

gross people or people that are gross.

And the name of the sermon is Things That Are Disgusting.

Things that are disgusting.

Now I had this sermon idea several months back

when I decided I was gonna come here

and got the opportunity to preach.

And I re-listened to that sermon and I asked myself,

are there enough disgusting things

that he didn't talk about that I could preach on?

So I want you to realize I'm not avoiding things

that he preached on that are gross and disgusting,

but I don't wanna re-preach the same sermon.

So kind of in a way it's kind of a sequel

because I'm gonna look at things that are disgusting

and what can we learn about this spiritually?

Notice what it says here in verse number 13.

Then said Haggai, if one that is unclean by a dead body

touch any of these, shall it be unclean?

And the priest answered and said it shall be unclean.

You know, obviously if you touch something

that's unclean, you'll be unclean.

And the Bible speaks about touching a dead body, right?

I remember when we were in the Philippines

at our old house, we had a real big problem

with mice at our house.

And mice are a lot smarter than they might seem.

They're actually pretty hard to kill.

And I tried every method that you read online

and eventually I resorted to poison,

but you don't really wanna use poison

because what will happen is a mouse will die

and you don't know where it is

and you can smell it and you can't get rid of it.

But I was just desperate.

You know, I was like, man,

we gotta get rid of this problem.

I'm sick of going in the fridge

and I just hear them scurrying around

underneath the fridge and the cabinets

and we couldn't get rid of them.

And so I just put out a bunch of poison

and I woke up a couple days later

and the first mouse that was dead

it died right in front of the garbage can.

But you know, for me personally,

the number one, this is not even part of the sermon,

you know, there's not one of the points,

but the number one thing that's disgusting to me

of animals is mice.

Mice and rats are just gross and disgusting to me.

And so it was dead, but I was like,

I wanted to make sure it was dead.

You know, I don't mind cockroaches,

you can have those in the Philippines,

but mice, it's a whole nother thing.

And so I was like poking it with like a long stick,

I was putting on gloves and everything

because you don't wanna touch a dead body,

you're gonna be unclean.

Of course, that's disgusting, that's gross, right?

And the Bible uses a physical example here

to explain the spiritual

because the Bible's speaking about a nation

that is just unclean and they're involved in uncleanness

and it's gonna pass on to them.

Now go into your Bible to James chapter four, James four.

And he says that everything they offer

and that which they offer there is unclean.

He says, you as a nation are the same way.

Throughout the Bible, God uses earthly examples

to explain the spiritual.

The Bible says, if I have told you of earthly things

and you believe not, how shall you believe

if I tell you of heavenly things?

So throughout the Bible, there's earthly examples

to drive home a spiritual point.

You know, when you think of examples

in this world of things that are physically unclean,

you see a connection between being spiritually unclean.

For example, the country of India is known

as the spiritual capital of the world.

They'll say, man, this is where Hinduism came from,

where Buddhism and Jainism and Sikhism

and then all the crazy religions

get kicked out of countries

and then they find a home in India.

It's the spiritual capital of the world.

But did you know it's also known

as the rape capital of the world?

One of the big monikers of India,

it's known as the rape capital of the world.

Now, when it comes to rape statistics,

they are not that accurate.

And the reason why is because depending

on what country it's in,

if you basically try to bring it to court,

it could be more or less likely to end up

that person getting in trouble.

Because of the caste system in India,

the vast majority of rapes

don't end up having anything happen

to the person that actually does it.

Because people that are of a higher caste

will often do that to a lower caste.

But read online to people that visit India

and you'll see women say, man, the temples were beautiful.

I was just in fear of my life every single second

because all these men are just coming at me

and just saying all these vulgar things.

I was like, man, I was afraid I was gonna be attacked.

And India is often known as the rape capital of the world.

And yet people will say it's the most spiritual place.

I mean, you see these weirdo Americans

that wanna get spiritual and they go to India, right?

But yet it's spiritual, but it's not godly.

Notice what it says here in James 4, verse seven.

Submit yourselves therefore to God,

resist the devil and he will flee from you,

draw night to God and he will draw night to you.

So what is the formula for drawing night to God?

God says you draw night to me, I'll draw night to you.

Draw night to God and he will draw night to you.

Cleanse your hands, these sinners

and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

The Bible says to cleanse your hands.

Now is the Bible saying wash your hands before you eat?

Obviously not.

Look, I washed my hands before I ate,

but once again, that's not the big thing

the Bible's talking about.

What the Bible's saying is using a physical example

to say, hey, get right with God.

Quit watching the garbage, quit listening to the garbage,

quit breaking the commandments, do what I say, read the Bible.

That is what the Bible is referring to,

but it's a physical example of cleansing your hands

to drive home a spiritual point.

Go on your Bible to Leviticus chapter 18, Leviticus 18.

And look, I'll just warn you,

this is not gonna be the most pleasant sermon.

I mean, when you preach a sermon

called things that are disgusting,

my goal and purpose is I can drive home

how disgusting these things are,

and she'll say, I don't wanna have anything to do

with whatever's gonna cause that.

I wanna have nothing to do with it whatsoever.

It's gross, it's disgusting,

especially young kids that are in this room

because many young kids are here

and they haven't done the things that many of us have.

And they don't realize the dangers

in doing some of these things.

It might seem normal.

I mean, people try to give them pure pressure to do it.

It's like, man, you're better off

staying completely away from these things.

You need to listen up to this sermon.

Leviticus 18, verse 22,

Leviticus 18:22

thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind.

It is abomination.

And once again, I'm not repreaching

what Pastor Shelley said,

but the LGBT or vile, wicked, reprobates pedophiles,

you name the list, they're garbage, right?

Verse 23, neither shalt thou lie with any beast

to defile thyself they're with,

neither shall any woman stand before a beast

to lie down there to.

It is confusion.

I mean, there the Bible's talking about bestiality,

taking it to another level.

Verse 24, defile not ye yourselves in any of these things

for in all these, the nations are defiled

which I cast out before you,

and the land is defiled,

therefore I do visit the iniquity there upon it,

and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.

The land is so repulsed

and there's such a cancer to the land

that the land the Bible says symbolically

is vomiting out the people

because they're like a poison to the land.

Bible says here in verse 26,

ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments

and shall not commit any of these abominations,

neither any of your own nation

nor any stranger that's to joineth among you.

For all these abominations have the men of the land

done which were before you

and the land is defiled,

that the land spew not you out also when ye defiled

as it spewed out the nations that were before you.

For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations,

even the souls that commit them shall be cut off

from among their people,

therefore shall ye keep my ordinance

that ye commit not any of these abominable customs

which were committed before you

and that ye defile not yourselves therein,

I am the Lord your God.

In verse 28, it talks about spewing out the people

which does not have to be in reference to vomit

but in the context that is what the Bible

is referring to.

And the first thing I can think of

that is truly disgusting

that was not covered in the sermon is vomit.

Vomit is disgusting.

Now what does it mean to be disgusting?

You're basically talking about

something that affects your senses.

So you could say, man, something tastes disgusting.

Something looks disgusting.

Something smells disgusting.

Something feels disgusting.

Or on occasion you could say something

even sounds disgusting.

It means something that affects your senses.

When it comes to vomit,

it fits pretty much all of those, doesn't it?

It smells disgusting.

It looks disgusting.

I mean, it is completely gross and disgusting.

Go to 2nd Peter chapter two.

2nd Peter two.

2nd Peter chapter two, verse 22.

And the Bible says,

but has happened unto them according to the true proverb,

the dog is turned to his own vomit again.

And the sow that was washed or wallowing in the mire.

Now here when the Bible refers to a dog and a sow,

I believe it's referring to a male homosexual

and a female homosexual,

but it's talking about a literal dog.

And the Bible says the dog is turned

to its own vomit again.

You know, one of the things that's just kind of crazy

about animals and dogs,

dogs will often eat their own vomit.

I remember having a dog as a kid

and you know, I was naive

because I watched Disney movies and they're cute.

And then all of a sudden, you know,

you see your dog outside

and it's eating its own vomit

and you're like, what in the world?

I mean, it's so gross.

It's disgusting.

It's like, what are you doing?

But yet the Bible says that dogs actually do this.

I've seen it with my own eyes

and dogs would just go to their own vomit.

It's crazy in this world today,

people are like so obsessed with animals and pets.

And look, I'm not against you

if you have a dog or a cat,

but it's like they get so obsessed with their animal

and it's like, look, this is what animals do.

Animals are gross.

They do a lot of gross and disgusting things.

Go in your Bible to Isaiah chapter 19.

So I researched for this,

what actually causes someone to vomit?

What says here,

your body has a built in alarm system in the brain

called the vomiting center.

When it gets enough warning signals,

it triggers vomiting to protect you.

And so when a person's actually vomiting,

it's actually a good thing

because your body's actually protecting you

from a real danger.

You know, when you're raising young kids,

you know, kids have a notoriously weak stomach.

They get sick often

and you know, to them,

it's like the worst thing in the world

because it's disgusting to them.

But you know, one thing I've seen with my kids

is it's so disgusting and gross to them

that they will try to prevent themselves from vomiting.

And so instead of rushing to the bathroom,

they try to hold it in, then it goes all over the bed.

It's just a disaster, right?

Or they don't make it, it just goes everywhere,

but it's so gross and disgusting to them.

But one thing kids don't understand

is that's actually a good thing

because it's protecting their body.

Many times you'll see when kids are sick

and then they vomit and then they're fine five minutes later.

They're doing pretty well.

And of course, all of us that are adults,

you know, we've had the same experience,

you're sick in your stomach

and sometimes that fixes it

because your body's actually protecting you

from something that's actually much more dangerous.

Well, in the Bible,

the big thing that you see

that actually causes someone to get sick and vomit

is alcohol.

Notice what it says here in Isaiah 19, verse 14.

Isaiah 19:14

The Lord hath mingled a perverse spirit in the midst thereof

and they have caused Egypt to err in every work thereof

as a drunken man staggered in his vomit.

I mean, that's disgusting.

That's gross.

I mean, look, I went to college.

I mean, you see just vomit on the ground at the colleges.

You know, where I went to church as a freshman,

man, you just see it as you're walking

because I didn't have a car my freshman year

so I kind of walked everywhere

and you just see it everywhere on the ground

and you're like, what is wrong with these people?

Like, why are you drinking alcohol?

And yet, people do it all the time.

They just drink and drink and drink.

You know, where I went to college,

the moniker is cheers, beers and Mountaineers.

It's like, man, I think West Virginia is an awesome state.

Why are you mixing in alcohol with it?

Go in your Bible to Isaiah 28, Isaiah 28

and see what your body is actually doing

when it causes you to vomit, when you get drunk.

It's actually protecting you from poison

that you actually put inside your body.

The Bible refers to alcohol.

It says their wine is the poison of dragons

and the gruel venom of asps.

What the Bible is saying is when you drink alcohol,

you're actually putting poison inside your body.

And so what your body does, being well designed by God,

your body senses a problem

and your body will often discard it.

Why?

Because it's poison.

It's gonna destroy your body.

And yet, what happens?

People drink and drink and drink

and their body gets used to it.

Instead of discarding it, their body keeps the poison.

Now that doesn't mean that the poison is no longer dangerous

because their body's used to it.

What it means is that person becomes a drunkard

and instead of your body actually protecting you

since it's used to you, used to it,

it keeps the poison inside

and you're actually doing real harm to your body.

That's what actually takes place.

Isaiah chapter 28, verse number seven.

Isaiah 28 · chapter mention

The Bible says,

but they have also aired through wine

and through strong drink are out of the way.

The priests and the prophet have aired through strong drink.

They are swallowed up of wine.

They are out of the way through strong drink.

They air envision, they stumble in judgment.

For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness

so that there is no place clean.

Look, many young kids that are in this room right now,

when they get older, they might have other friends

or people that via peer pressure

try to get them to drink.

I'm sure that in this room there are a lot of adults

that have drank before

and probably because of peer pressure.

Not that you wanted to.

Not that you thought it was a good thing.

Not that you thought it was godly.

Not that you thought it was healthy

but peer pressure is a powerful thing.

Here's what you're missing out on kids

by not drinking alcohol.

You're gonna miss out on vomiting all over the place.

You're gonna miss out on poisoning your body.

You're gonna miss out on doing stupid things

like driving drunk,

getting people pregnant out of wedlock.

Look, alcohol destroys people's lives.

And the thing is people ought to realize

because vomit is so disgusting,

why would you want to do anything

that would cause you to do that?

It's physically disgusting

and God is trying to warn you

about how bad it is for you.

Go in your bout of Proverbs 25.

Proverbs 25.

As your attorney there, I'm gonna read you

one more verse here where it says,

Make ye him drunken

for he magnified himself against the Lord,

Moab also show wallow in his vomit.

Look, I get it.

Vomit is not something that's fun

to think about or talk about.

The Bible makes a connection

to alcohol quite a bit, doesn't it?

And often when people first drink,

they immediately get sick with a small amount

and their body discards it.

But you know what takes place?

They end up getting used to it.

They drink alcohol and their body

just becomes resistant to it

and you just get more and more alcohol

into your system

and that's how people die from blood poisoning.

That's how people long-term just destroy their bodies,

destroy their kidneys or livers

and everything inside of them

and then die at a really young age.

Why?

Because they drank themselves to death

because just drinking poison day after day

after day after day is like, man,

you should have got the warning

the first time you vomited all over the place.

And yet all throughout this nation,

all throughout this world,

people are just a bunch of boozers and drunkards

drinking all their sorrows away.

And they wake up, they're miserable,

their life sucks and then they go right back to it.

And I just remember being in college

and people would try to pressure you like,

man, why don't you drink?

What do you do for fun?

And it's like, man, I enjoy life.

So why would I wanna do something

that's gonna cost me to forget what happened?

It was crazy to me how people would go to college

and you'd just hear them talking about this.

I heard people say sometimes,

man, I got so drunk on Friday night,

I don't even remember what happened.

And then I woke up and there was someone in the bed with me.

I'm like, what in the world?

But yeah, that's just kind of common talk

often in college, like it's no big deal.

Cause when you're drunk,

it's kind of like a free pass to do whatever sin

according to these people.

But it's not just drinking alcohol

that the Bible makes a connection

that will cause you to vomit.

One of the other things the Bible mentions is overeating.

Notice what it says here in Proverbs 25 or 16.

Has thou found honey?

Eat so much as is sufficient for thee,

lest thou be filled therewith

and notice this and vomit it.

Now, when it comes to this verse,

I believe there's two connections you can make here.

One thing the Bible's saying is,

if you eat too much, it can cause you to be sick.

Many people have probably experienced that.

The other thing I would say is

that I think the Bible's saying

when you eat too much of honey or something high in sugar,

it can cause the same reaction.

I am not, look, I know that it's very sensitive.

Everybody has their opinions on diets,

but you know what, I'm the one preaching.

I'm not a keto person at all.

I am not a low carb person.

I eat a ton of carbs all the time.

I think honey's like a miracle food, to be honest.

But that doesn't mean you just take a cup full of honey

and just down it.

You eat too much of that sugar, it will make you sick.

If you eat a bunch of junk food, a bunch of sugar,

it will make you sick.

Now go on your Bible to Philippians chapter three,

Philippians three.

But once again, it's the same thing with alcohol.

Your body gets used to it.

Here's what it says, reduce sensitivity, adaptation.

The body can become less reactive over time.

The stomach may tolerate more stretching

before signaling distress.

Cause once again, when a person has to vomit,

it's actually a good thing for them

where your body's protecting you.

Where basically, if you stretch your stomach too far,

you'll get sick.

But what it's saying here is that if you regularly do this,

you will no longer have that reaction with your body.

Your body will allow you to just eat all kinds of junk food,

all kinds of food, and just eat and eat day after day

after day, and it never signals a warning

even though you're damaging and destroying your body.

I saw this just a couple of days ago on Facebook,

they had one of these ads pop up

where there's this fitness influencer

who was trying to lose 55 pounds really quickly.

So what he did is, he was in good shape,

he was trying to gain weight quickly,

and then he was gonna try to lose the weight quickly.

And he's trying to give his technique

to lose 55 pounds really, really fast,

and so he's eating 10,000 calories a day.

If you've ever tracked calories before,

that is insane.

I don't know if I could eat 10,000 calories in a day,

and certainly after the first 4,000,

it's not even a taste good, right?

You eat too much, it ends up being gross,

it ends up being disgusting,

you're just like, man, I don't even want anymore.

But he's gonna eat 10,000 calories day after day.

The guy died after a couple of weeks.

30 years old.

By all measures, he seemed like he was in good shape.

A couple of weeks later, he was dead.

Look, I personally did not know

that you could eat yourself to death like that

in a couple of weeks.

It's kind of like, you know, there's that old-like documentary,

Super Size Me, and he's kind of doing the same sort of thing,

we're basically just eating a lot of food,

and to get a lot of calories, you need a lot of junk food,

right?

So he's eating a lot of junk food,

trying to gain weight super quickly,

and then all of a sudden, just like after a week,

he starts telling his friends,

man, I'm feeling really bad, I'm feeling sick,

but he kind of just stuck with it,

never thinking anything would happen,

a few weeks later, he's dead.

He didn't even gain all the weight because he died

after just overeating himself, day after day after day.

Now look, I'm not saying it's wrong to eat a lot of food

and have like nice brisket for lunch.

That's some great food earlier today,

but you know, we know the feeling of being

at Thanksgiving or Christmas

where you eat past what you really should,

and then you're just sitting on the couch,

you're tired, you're exhausted.

I mean, you feel sick, you're like, why did I do that?

And then next year, you're gonna seek it yet again, right?

But you feel miserable, you feel horrible,

and honestly, that's doing major harm to your body.

Now it's not a big deal, I do that sometimes.

You do it once a year, no big deal from time to time,

but this guy did it day after day after day,

and he died after a couple of weeks.

It's like, man, I did not realize

you're doing that much of damage to your body

by eating too much food at one event,

but he did it day after day after day,

and look, it's like eating that much food

after a while, it gets disgusting, doesn't it?

And it's like, anything that would cause you to vomit

should give you a real caution,

and this guy ended up dying because of it.

Here's what the Bible says in Philippians 3, verse 18.

Philippians 3:18

It says,

For many walk of whom I've told you often,

and I'll tell you even weeping,

that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ,

and notice this,

whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly,

and whose glory is in their shame,

whom mind earthly things.

Now when the Bible says whose God is their belly,

the Bible here is talking about bad people,

and he's using an example that we can all understand.

Every one of us has eaten too much junk food,

one too many cookies,

eating things that we shouldn't have,

and we know that we're trying to resist the temptation,

and yet we end up eating it and we regret it.

Every one of us has done that, right?

And look, I don't think that's a major issue,

it's like we all do that,

we're all trying our best or whatever,

but what the Bible's saying is these people,

these reprobates, they just give into every lust.

So us, we deal with that on a daily basis,

where basically we might want something

that's bad for us,

and we know we shouldn't do it,

and then we give into it,

and the Bible's saying these people,

their God is their belly,

every lust they have, they give into.

Everything their body wants, they give it to them.

But look, I don't want to be lumped in with a reprobate.

Now obviously the Bible's using an example

that every person in the world

can understand and relate to,

because all of us have eaten things

that we probably shouldn't, not the healthiest,

but it's like, you know,

we need to be able to control our habits.

Control our desires and realize,

hey, if it's not good for us, don't indulge in that.

Now go in your Bible to Matthew, chapter five, Matthew five.

Matthew five.

So one thing that's disgusting is vomit.

It's something the Bible brings up many times,

and alcohol is the primary thing the Bible speaks about

that will actually cause that.

Number two, something else that's really disgusting

is pornography.

Pornography is disgusting.

Now I would say that pornography

is probably one of the most under-preached things,

and it makes sense because it's a bit awkward to preach on.

I don't want to say something

to put something in your mind,

and it's just disgusting,

so you don't really like talking about it.

But here's the reason why you need to talk about it.

60% of men in the U.S. ages 18 to 49

are regularly watching pornography.

60%, three out of five men.

You say, wow, that's only men.

20 to 25% of women report the same.

Well, that's just single people.

35 to 55% of married men are watching pornography

monthly according to statistics.

Let's just take the low end.

35% of married guys over one out of three

is watching pornography on a very regular basis

according to statistics.

20 to 30% are watching weekly according to that.

Of married men, 20 to 30% are watching weekly.

You say, well, you're a pastor.

I mean, yeah, these are statistics,

but this is not the Christian population.

Look, you are naive if you think there's nobody

in this church that is struggling with pornography.

I wish that were the case,

and when I first started preaching,

I just kind of naively thought that,

that people aren't really guilty

of the things that I'm preaching on

because everybody's wearing a suit and a tie

or trying to look nice.

But the reality is,

many Christians are also struggling with this as well.

Many Christians are watching porn.

You say, well, what's your proof of that?

Because I've known great pastors that got addicted.

I mean, if great pastors or at one time great pastors

are addicted to porno and perhaps much worse or whatever,

it's like, well, obviously people could be members

of churches as well and just be addicted to porn.

Man, and if that's you tonight,

let me tell you something.

You've got a really disgusting and dirty vice.

And here's the thing about this.

If that's you tonight, you know it's true.

You know that what you're doing is disgusting

and wicked and weird and gross, and you already know that.

That's right.

Get it out of your life.

And look, if sins like that have destroyed great pastors,

do you really think that you can just do this all the time

and still be as ill as soul winner?

Five years from now, 10 years from now?

That's crazy.

Half of married men on a regular basis are watching porn.

Here's what the Bible says,

and you say, well, why is this disgusting?

Look, I don't want to say anything

to put any image in your head,

but you know what, if you're a guy here today

and you're watching another guy, that's disgusting.

And the thing is, if you're watching two women,

it's an abomination before God, it's also disgusting.

There's no way you can say this where it's not disgusting.

It's, and you know what's crazy in today's world

is because of things like this,

people at a very young age,

teenagers are getting addicted to pornography.

At a young age are watching this sort of garbage.

Look, one thing we can say as parents,

we better make sure we're monitoring

what our kids are watching.

It's like, well, you know what, I'm just kind of busy,

I just let the cell phone and the TV

and the iPad and the computer raise my kid.

Well, good luck with that method,

because what you're gonna do is get some kid

that's gonna be addicted to porn at the age of 15,

you're gonna help destroy his marriage

10 years down the road because he's addicted to porn.

Here's what the Bible says in Matthew 5 verse 27.

Matthew 5:27

On a simple level, I mean, you're lusting after many times

people that are married that are on there,

you're committing adultery in your heart

even if you are single.

I mean, it's a wicked and an evil sin.

I go in your Bible to 1 Thessalonians chapter four.

1 Thessalonians four.

And one thing I heard over this last six months or so,

I heard a lot of people trying to say

that if a pastor is addicted to porn,

he does not need to step down from the ministry.

I mean, can you imagine if the person

who is preaching to you every week

is like secretly watching pornography every night,

that's the person that's gonna spiritually guide you.

The person that's addicted to porn

is gonna be your spiritual guide.

Is that really the person you want

teaching you the Word of God?

Do you really believe that person

can be spirit filled as in their personal life?

They're doing that?

But look folks, if pastors can commit sins,

the old pastor of this church with prostitutes

and whatever else kind of wicked stuff,

it's like you are naive if you think

there's nobody at this church that's addicted to porn.

I wish that were the case with Christians,

but it's not, it's just simply not.

I mean Christians are guilty

often of the same things that the world's doing.

The world gets divorced, Christians get divorced.

The world gets drunk, I mean many Christians get drunk.

The world watches porn, many Christians watch porn.

And what's sad about this is people are doing this

at a young age, they don't realize

they're damaging the rest of their life.

I mean it's kind of part of the next point of the sermon,

but the Bible shows you that there is a special sin

attached to sexual deviance and sexual sin,

something that sticks with you,

where it actually harms your own body.

It sticks with you.

And you might not realize that at the time

you are harming the rest of your life.

1 Thessalonians chapter four, verse two.

For you know what commandments

we gave you by the Lord Jesus,

for this is the will of God, even your sanctification,

that you should abstain from fornication,

that every one of you should know how to possess

his vessel and sanctification and honor,

not in the lust of concupiscence,

even as the Gentiles which know not God,

that no man go beyond and defraud his brother

in any matter because the Lord is the Avenger

of all such as we also have forewarned you and testified.

For God hath not called us on to uncleanness,

but on to holiness.

And look, if you want to draw an eye to God,

if you want to live a holy life,

if you want to honor God,

you need to get this massive sin out of your life.

And here's the thing about this.

It's disgusting.

And look, we need to explain.

It's disgusting because it's so common in today's world.

It's gross.

It's disgusting.

But it's everywhere.

It's all over the computers.

I mean, people are watching it all the time.

Half of married men.

And it's not just men

because about a quarter of married women.

It's gross.

It's disgusting.

What are you doing with your life?

Right.

Turn your body to Job 31, Job 31.

I'll tell you, I think a lot of kids get addicted to this

because they have friends

that decide, hey, let me show this to you.

And either due to peer pressure

or morbid curiosity or whatever,

people end up just being like, oh, you know,

okay, I'll check it out.

It's like, man, it's crazy.

But it's like, man, that's why you can't just trust,

hey, everything my kids watch,

whoever they hang out with, no big deal,

nothing's gonna happen.

I mean, you're crazy if that's what you think.

This is a dangerous and a crazy world.

But you know what?

There's actually people that defend pornography

and claim it's actually a good thing.

There's something known as the safety valve theory.

And this was proposed by a guy named Burr Kuchinsky.

And he said, which by the way is a Jew.

He kind of broke, you know, like the big moment.

It's like, all right, he's a Jew.

All right, you figured it out.

He's a Jew.

But what this guy basically said

is that by watching porn,

it will prevent you from fornicating.

Watching porn will prevent you from adultery,

prevent violent assaults and rape and all those things.

So pornography can actually be a good thing.

There's another guy I saw a few months ago

and it's like, we made a video about this.

There was this other Jew

and he was defending animated porn.

Animated child porn.

And he said, well, you know what?

At least they're not molesting a kid.

So basically it's not that it's a good thing,

but when they have that desire to do that,

it's like, well, they can safely do it

by watching animated child porn.

It's like, what is wrong with these people?

And that guy is supposedly a conservative Jew.

Well, you sound like a conservative reprobate to me.

Sound like a sick freak to me

when you're defending child porn,

whether animated or whatever.

But here's what it said at his funeral.

It said, at his funeral in 1995,

prominent Danish rabbi Bent Melchior

spoke at his graveside ceremony.

In his obituary, colleagues also remembered him fondly

by the traditional Yiddish expression

described him as,

right tiger mensch, a truly good, indecent person.

The guy who said, hey, you know what?

Pornography is actually a good thing.

It's the safety valve theory.

It will make it much safer for the world

because it's preventing major things.

But there's a critique of that known as

the learning theory.

Where the idea here is, by watching it,

it will increase these things.

By the way, I'll show you what the Bible says,

but common sense, we all realize if you're watching it,

it's gonna lead to more sin, not less.

Let me prove that to you.

Joke 31, verse one.

Joke 31, verse one.

I made a covenant with my eyes.

Why then should I think upon a maid?

Now notice what it says in verse seven.

If my step path turned out of the way,

and notice this, and my heart walked after my eyes,

and if any blot hath cleaved to my hands.

So the Bible's saying is, Joe made a decision,

I wanna make sure I don't lust after any woman.

And he says, one of the fears is,

if I allow myself to look,

my heart can walk after my eyes.

What he's saying is, if I allow something

to enter into my system, even if I don't want it,

I'm not interested, it can actually change my heart.

Let me give you another proof.

Go to your Bible to Ecclesiastes chapter one.

Ecclesiastes one.

And look, this is the way it works in all areas of life.

You start reading the Bible,

maybe you're not really interested,

but you do it because it's the right thing to do.

And you know what happens as you start learning things?

You start enjoying reading the Bible.

If you're like me,

when I first started going soul winning,

it was an obligation.

It was something I felt I needed to do.

It's not something where I wanted to do it,

something I was afraid to do.

But when I did it, all of a sudden it changed my heart.

I mean, it works this way in all areas.

Everybody's waiting for this feeling to come upon them.

No, you just do right and the feeling's gonna come.

And here's the thing,

if you let yourself watch pornography,

it will certainly increase your chances

because the desire will start forming

more and more inside your heart

and then you will commit fornication,

you will commit adultery.

Look, I would say that usually in today's world,

it probably starts at pornography

is what leads to sins like adultery.

Because it's like a stepping stone.

You might say, hey, I would never commit adultery

on my spouse,

but you allow yourself to look at certain things

and all of a sudden that desire

starts to form in your heart.

And then all of a sudden adultery doesn't seem as horrible

as it did two months earlier.

And then you commit adultery.

Look man, pornography is not gonna decrease fornication

and adultery and these major sins.

It is only going to increase

and all you have to do is look at this.

Pornography has increased in the world the last 50 years.

You know what you've also seen increase?

Children born out of wedlock,

adultery, fornication, everything.

Ecclesiastes chapter one, verse eight.

All things are full of labor, man cannot utter it.

The eye is not satisfied with seeing

nor the ear filled with hearing.

Now this can be used in a good way or a bad way.

I mean, when you're reading the Bible,

sometimes you have these times you're reading

and you're like, man, I want to see more.

Well, probably a lot of you

when you first started listening to online preaching,

you heard a sermon and you're like, I want more.

My ear is not filled yet, man, I want more.

I want to learn more doctrine.

I want to learn more things.

I mean, you go soul winning, it can be addiction.

You're getting people saved.

You're like, man, I want to see more people get saved.

I want to go on more mission strips.

I want to do more for God.

It's not necessarily a negative thing,

but it can be negative

because you can take this mindset, well, wait a minute,

I have this desire, if I just look,

my desire will be gone, I'll be fine.

But that's not gonna get rid of it.

It's gonna come back stronger and stronger and stronger

and the problem's gonna get worse and worse and worse.

And it goes from some 15 year old addicted to porn

to some 16 year old that's a father.

That's what happens.

It goes from a guy who's not having a good marriage

with his wife and he's watching this stuff

and then all of a sudden they're divorced a year later.

He's committing adultery a year later.

Why?

Because it's just gonna make the problem worse

and worse and worse and worse.

Look, if the Jews are promoting something,

it's probably wrong.

I know.

Go in your Bible to 1 Corinthians chapter six.

1 Corinthians chapter six.

Look, it's not just with pornography.

I mean, any sexual sin is disgusting and dirty and gross.

I'm not preaching on the LGBT tonight.

That was already preached by Pastor Shelley in part one,

you know, people that are gross.

But it's like, man, I was preparing for this sermon.

I was on Friday.

I was in Washington, DC and where my wife's parents live,

I was at the apartment complex

and I was just kind of going to an area

where there's weren't a lot of cars

and I was just kind of walking

and looking over my sermon notes.

And I love Washington, DC.

There's a lot of issues with it,

but I'm from that part of the country.

I think it's a beautiful place.

In that apartment complex,

you know what I saw on the ground,

this is outside in the parking lot,

a bunch of used condoms all over the ground.

I'm like, what is wrong with these people?

It's like, man, four occasions, bad enough,

adultery is worse,

but you know, just throw it in the trash.

What are you doing?

It's disgusting.

And yet these things are all over the place.

It's like, man, what is wrong with people?

But here's what you have to understand.

When people are physically just gross and disgusting

and unclean, you know what it shows you

that they're spiritually wicked as well.

These things go hand in hand.

But number one, one thing that's disgusting

is vomit, meaning never drink

and don't just gorge yourself all the time.

Number two, pornography and related sexual sense.

I mean, they're gross.

They're disgusting.

Number three, lastly, smoking cigarettes

in marijuana is disgusting.

Yeah, yeah, that's right.

You know, it's funny when my wife moved to the US

and you know, some things are different in the Philippines

and you know, people aren't smoking marijuana

in the Philippines.

And so I was trying to describe to her one day

what it smelled like

because marijuana is pretty nasty, isn't it?

I mean, the smell, I mean, it's disgusting.

And I was trying to describe it to my wife

and she's like, well, what does it smell like?

Well, what would you answer?

What does it smell like?

I mean, what comparison is there?

I mean, I was trying to think what to say to my wife

and I was like, I don't know how to describe it

but the first time you smell it, you'll never forget.

Yeah, yeah.

So we're going soul winning

in an apartment complex in Sacramento.

You know, we're knocking doors

and my wife's like, what is that smell?

I said, it's marijuana.

I was like, I told you once you smell it,

you're never gonna forget.

Say pastor, why is it you've never smoked marijuana?

Cause it smells disgusting.

Yeah.

Besides just being wrong and sinful,

why would I want to do it?

Why is it I've never smoked a cigarette?

It's disgusting.

Yeah.

And it's not just the smell.

It's the fact, have you ever seen those pictures

of people that are just addicted to drugs

or smoking cigarettes, the inside of their body?

I mean, it looks, it looks disgusting.

It looks gross, like it destroys their body.

It's like you don't realize that by smoking cigarettes

but it's actually destroying the inside

of your body and your health.

And look, it will put you into an early grave.

It's like there's many stories people have

of people that are addicted to cigarettes

and they cut 30 years off their life.

Now a lot of people don't know the origin of smoking though

because in our modern day, it's very common

but where did this actually come from?

So obviously in its modern form of smoking a cigarette

is not how it's always been.

So basically the practice of smoking tobacco

it originates in the Americas,

North America, Central America and South America.

But in its origin, it wasn't really something

you did for recreation.

It was actually done by natives that are worshiping the sun

and doing a rain dance

and it's part of their false religious services.

That is actually the history I've seen

from studying it of smoking tobacco

where it was first basically used in religious services.

So according to what I read,

the guy that helped bring it to Europe

is the guy that discovered America, Christopher Columbus.

Because he saw the practice and he brought it back to Europe.

What happened in Europe is it wasn't the normal person

that smoked tobacco at first, it was just the elites.

It was the rich.

Because number one, it was expensive.

It wasn't cheap.

And number two is consider something that fancy people do.

So rich people are actually just smoking tobacco.

Well, there's a guy

and actually let me just show this to you

in chapter six verse first.

First one in these, chapter six, verse 18.

Flea fornication, every sin that a man doeth

is without the body.

But he that committed fornication

sineth against his own body.

What?

Know ye not that your body is the temple

of the holy ghost which is in you

which ye have of God

and ye are not your own

for ye are bought with a price.

Therefore glorify God in your body

and in your spirit which are gods.

See the Bible says, our bodies belong to God.

You have these feminists and liberals

that will say, you know, my body, my choice.

Of course number one, it's not their body

they're talking about when they kill a baby.

But number two, your body's not your body.

Because the Bible says our bodies belong to God.

Meaning we don't just have the right

to trash our bodies and do whatever we want.

But I said no, we're bought with a price

and it says glorify God in your body.

Why?

Because it belongs to God.

And look, God gives us a lot of freedom in this life.

Look, there's plenty of foods that you can eat

plenty of vacations you can go on

plenty of things you can do for fun

but there's certain things

thus saith the Lord, no.

And then you got Christians

it's like they have all these things they can do

and it's like, no, but I want to do this one.

It's like, what in the world's wrong with you?

God gives us a lot of freedom.

I mean, don't you believe that God is a God of freedom

that gives us a lot of freedom?

We're able to do a lot of things.

God doesn't restrict every area of our lives

but then you have people that one thing God says no to

and they get really mad about it.

It's like, you know, what do you mean

that I have to wear a dress?

It's like, look, you can wear whatever dress you want.

Pink, red, orange, white.

I mean, there's a lot of freedom in it

but as a woman wear a dress, don't wear pants

that's what the Bible says.

God gives us a lot of freedom.

I mean, you're here today

people are wearing different colored shirts

different colored pants.

I mean, all these things we have freedom in these things

but then there's certain things

God would be like no to, right?

And people get so mad when they're told no.

See, I'm not the only person that thinks smoking.

I mean, who thinks smoking is disgusting?

Seems kind of unanimous.

I think it's great when there's companies

that say no smoking.

You know, one of the things I don't know about in Germany

but I really enjoyed my time in Poland.

You know, I'm planning to go back, you know

next year it's pretty receptive to the gospel.

You know, one thing that I wasn't really ready

for expecting is that people are smoking everywhere.

And there's sort of this like, you know

kind of attitude that oh if I'm smoking

and it's near someone I don't wanna like puff in their face

but it didn't really seem to be that was the attitude there.

It's kind of like just smoke and smoke and smoke

and it's like we're the majority

you gotta just get along with the program.

Just cigarettes everywhere on the ground.

I'm just thinking what in the world?

It's like and look the damage that people

are actually doing to their bodies.

So many stories I know of people dying

at a really, really young age

as a result of smoking tobacco.

You know, it's not something

that they just recently discovered is unhealthy

because let me read to you

something called a counter blast to tobacco.

And this was written by King James

where we get the name the King James Bible.

He said this in 1604.

So right when we're starting the King James Bible.

And here's a summary from AI of what he said.

And look, I did not tell AI what to say.

This is the summary of the book he wrote

or the booklet that he wrote.

Number one, tobacco is foul, disgusting

and offensive to the senses.

Sounds like a smart guy.

I agree with that.

He said, number two, smoking is harmful to health.

It sounds like they didn't need some medical company

to tell them 50 years ago.

He said, well, pastor, how could people realize

smoking is unhealthy?

Oh, maybe because the first time people smoke.

I can't believe it's unhealthy.

Like what in the world?

And you see people that have been smoking for a while

and you can tell their lungs are gone.

It's like they're destroyed.

I mean, you don't have to be a rocket scientist

to figure this out.

Number three, tobacco use is a waste of money.

Yep.

Number four, it is a useless and unnecessary habit.

Number five, people adopt it through imitation

and social pressure.

This guy sounds like a smart guy.

I think we should have him up here

preaching a sermon, right?

This guy knows what he's talking about.

Number six, it reflects moral weakness

and lack of self-control.

Yep.

Number eight, it is a socially degrading practice.

Number nine, it has no true medicinal value

despite claims.

And by the way, I would say the same thing

with marijuana.

Oh, it's got all these health benefits.

I don't buy it.

Number 10, it encourages idleness and indulgence.

And I would say, you know, absolutely,

I mean, this was written over 400 years ago.

In 1604, this is what King James said.

He said, man, this is so disgusting

that he wrote a book and say, man,

I'm tired of people smoking tobacco.

I don't want to be around it.

It's gross.

It's disgusting.

I don't want to see it.

It's nasty.

And it is.

I just don't get it

because I've never smoked a cigarette.

It's like, why would I want to?

Look, I've had plenty of people offer me

and I'm like, no, it's like,

I don't want to smoke a cigarette.

Why would I want to do that?

You say, why is it that you've never done it?

Look, it's not like when I was a teenager,

it's because I thought, well, you know,

the Bible says this, no, I just thought it was disgusting.

My parents never smoked.

I thought it was disgusting.

Like, why would I do that?

And yet, due to peer pressure,

a lot of people are just kind of going along with the flow.

Here's what it says in 1 Corinthians chapter 6, verse 11,

1 Corinthians 6:11

Now look, is there a verse in the Bible

that says, thus saith the Lord,

do not smoke cigarettes.

No, there's not.

But I think we would all agree,

it's not good for your health.

God says, take care of your health.

And here's the thing about this,

it seems like everybody that smokes cigarettes,

they end up being underneath the control

or power of the cigarettes.

There's not really something about being like a casual smoke

or why I smoke one cigarette per week.

It seems like something,

either you smoke one pack a day,

two packs a day, or you don't at all.

And look, everything people tell me,

because I've known a lot of people that have quit smoking,

they said it was like the hardest thing they've ever done.

And here's what it says in verse number 13.

Needs for the belly, and the belly for meats,

but God shall destroy both it and them.

Now the body's not for fornication,

but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.

And the Bible says here, God shall destroy both it

and them, what the Bible's saying is this,

all of our lusts and all of our desires that we have,

here's what you need to understand,

these are things that we have right now,

but nobody's gonna be struggling with smoking in heaven.

Nobody's gonna be struggling with drinking in heaven.

What the Bible's trying to tell you is,

hey, you know what, instead of waiting until you get to heaven

to get rid of these dirty habits,

why not get rid of them now?

And here's what you gotta understand,

when you do things that are disgusting all the time

and you're around things that are disgusting,

you have to realize you are greatly,

number one, damaging your physical body.

And number two, man, you're so far from being close to God,

if you were just doing all these disgusting

and wicked things that the Bible speaks about,

go to your Bible, second Corinthians chapter seven,

second Corinthians chapter seven.

And look, you know, God is a God of cleanness

and with all these things you're seeing,

they're all what you'd say are dirty habits, right?

Why are they dirty?

I mean, they're all physically dirty,

such as an expression.

I mean, all these things are dirty.

Right.

Smoking's dirty.

Pornography is dirty and sick.

I mean, vomit's dirty.

As the Bible says, hey, cleanse your hands.

And yes, you know, the obvious application

is spiritually to get close to God,

but what you have to understand,

when things are physically unclean,

it's also telling you it's spiritually unclean as well.

No, I mean, think about all the sins that are out there.

Do you notice how they're all dirty and unclean?

Alcohol, just, you know, people just sleeping around.

I mean, all this stuff is dirty.

It's unhealthy.

And see the Bible says, hey, cleanse your hands.

Drawing out of God.

How are you gonna do that?

By cleansing your hands.

It's like, look, vomit is disgusting.

Never drink, ever.

Never do drugs, ever.

Get control of your body and your lust and your desires.

I mean, pornography, I mean, pornography's worse.

I mean, pornography is so dirty and disgusting.

I wish pornography was legal.

I wish it didn't exist.

I don't think it has a place in this world or this country.

Say, well, you know, aren't you for freedom?

It's like, you know, yeah, God gives us a lot of freedom,

but there's also things that

should not just be anything loud.

And it's destroying lives.

And look, you know, a lot of pornography

is also connected with human trafficking,

which you may or may not realize that.

A lot of those people are actually forced in

and then whether you realize it or not,

you are secondhand actually supporting human trafficking

when you're addicted to pornography.

And you know, smoking and drugs, it's dirty, it's disgusting.

I don't think any Christians should have

anything to do with it.

Here's what it says in 2 Corinthians, chapter seven,

verse one, having therefore these promises dearly beloved,

let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness

of the flesh in spirit, perfecting holiness

in the fear of God.

Look, I have a desire in my life to draw close to God,

to draw night of God.

I wanna read the Bible, I wanna go soul winning,

I wanna serve God.

You know what, you know, when people first start serving God,

they usually have a lot of issues and vices in their life

from their past life that they gotta get rid of.

So pastor, how do I get rid of these things?

How do I draw close to God?

Get rid of all the disgusting habits.

That's gonna help you draw close to God.

These things are disgusting, they're unclean.

I mean, there's something, it's like,

you know, even preaching on these things,

it's like, who wants to think about any of these things?

They're gross, they're disgusting.

And they're gonna keep you from drawing close to God.

And here's the thing, just because most of the world

is doing at least one, if not two or three of these things,

doesn't mean that you as a Christian should be doing it.

That's right.

We as Christians ought to be different than the world

and live in a godly life, and it's like,

you don't come, well, you know,

I'm better than the average person out there.

Do you realize that's not really that high of a standard?

Yeah.

It's not a high standard at all.

I mean, over half of married men supposedly commit adultery

on their wives from some statistics I've seen.

Wow, you're not committing adultery on your spouse.

Great job.

It's like, man, I mean, most people are watching porn.

Yeah, it's like, you know, you shouldn't be watching porn.

It's not a high standard when people are addicted to porn,

getting drunk, and doing all these things.

Look, we as God's people, if we're gonna draw night of God,

we need to leave clean and holy and godly lives before God.

Let's close in order prayer.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for allowing us

to be here today, and I ask you to help us

to apply this term to our lives, God.

Help us to just refrain from anything

that would be unclean and disgusting and gross, God.

Help us to draw night of you.

Help us to cleanse our hands from dirty habits

and also just draw close to you by reading the Bible,

by soul winning and obeying your commandments.

We pray this in Jesus' name.
