  1. Bumper crop means. I heard it.

  2. Amen. Well, bumper crop, I looked it up and it

  3. says it's an unusually large harvest.

  4. That's what it means.

  5. And it's used mainly in an agricultural setting. So you

  6. have an abundant harvest.

  7. So guess what? What's the title of our topic today?

  8. Okay. Bountiful harvest. Living from shortage to.

  9. Surplus. Hallelujah. Okay. Hopefully we can show up the presentation.

  10. We're at church. We're not in school, actually.

  11. So I got this from, you know, just playing with

  12. what can we show Lord today? Make it more interesting

  13. for the people.

  14. So, bountiful harvest. Are you interested what it's about? Hallelujah.

  15. Okay, well, let's look at two verses.

  16. From the Old Testament and the New Testament.

  17. In Genesis 26, verses 12 to 13, and in Mark

    Genesis 26:12–13

  18. 4 to 8. Genesis 26, 12 to 13 says, Then

  19. Isaac sowed in the land and reaped in the same

  20. year a hundredfold.

  21. And the Lord blessed him. The man began to prosper and.

  22. Continued prospering and became very prosperous. Wow, three prosperous words

  23. all in one sentence. Can you imagine the kind of

  24. prosperity that means?

  25. Amen.

  26. And the other one says in Mark 4 verse 8,

    Mark 4:8

  27. But the other seed fell on the ground and yielded

  28. a crop that sprang up, increased and produced some thirtyfold,

  29. some sixty, and some a hundred. Amen. Amen.

  30. So these two verses are so powerful because they're connected.

  31. And it's good that we have one from the Old

  32. Testament and the New Testament.

  33. That sowing is connected with harvest. There is a very.

  34. Clear connection between sowing and harvesting. Now it's interesting that

  35. in this passage in Genesis 26, it started with, Actually,

  36. the first line was, it says there, the man, there

  37. was a famine in the land.

  38. There was a famine in the land. So if there's

  39. a famine in.

  40. The land, what is normally our reaction? When there's a shortage,

  41. what is normally our reaction? How do we proceed with

  42. whatever we have? We try to keep it, right? We

  43. try to conserve it. We try to save it. Because

  44. who knows what's going to happen? Who knows how long

  45. the famine or the shortage will last?

  46. So, you know, I'm going to keep it. I'm going

  47. to protect it. I'm going to keep it away.

  48. But Isaac did something quite different. It's actually the opposite

  49. what he did.

  50. He planted. He sowed. In the time of famine. Isn't

  51. that interesting?

  52. That he would do the opposite of what a natural

  53. man would do.

  54. It was an act of faith. Because he knew the

  55. kind of God he was serving.

  56. He knew that God will protect him and take care

  57. of him.

  58. It was an act of faith. He did not wait

  59. until the famine was over, nor the shortage was over.

  60. He did not wait for that. He planted anyway. Wow,

  61. that's amazing. And you know, he reaped a hundredfold the

  62. same year. And then the Lord said, oh, I'm sorry.

  63. And it said, the Lord reaped. blessed him. Well, it's

  64. interesting that the Lord blessed him, not before, but after.

  65. Right?

  66. He said, he sowed, then he harvested a hundredfold, and

  67. then the Lord blessed him. You know, it wasn't the opposite.

  68. It wasn't like, the Lord blessed him, and then he planted,

  69. and then he harvested. That's normally how we would think.

  70. Lord, bless me. And then when we get the blessing,

  71. we start to plant or to sow.

  72. The Lord blessed him because he sowed at a time

  73. of famine that's what the blessing of the Lord means.

  74. It was an act of faith.

  75. And this is important because sometimes we can only sow

  76. when things are going well we think we need to

  77. have enough money enough resources enough savings enough confidence enough certainty.

  78. Before we can start sowing.

  79. But Isaac's story tells us something different. Sometimes the very

  80. season that looks unproductive can become the season in which

  81. God will demonstrate his power to provide. It's exactly that

  82. season where he will show up. And show to us that, yeah,

  83. I can take care of you even in this shortage,

  84. even in this famine, even in this difficulty.

  85. But you need to start sowing first. Do you get it, church?

  86. We need to start planting first in spite of the situation.

  87. I remember when I was a newborn Christian. And the

  88. church that I was going to then, they wanted to

  89. get a church van. And they came to me and said,

  90. would you like to take part in raising funds for

  91. the church, for the church van?

  92. I said, oh, but I just joined.

  93. You know, I don't really, I'm not really into that.

  94. But in my mind, I was like, why are they

  95. asking me? I'm just, you know, I'm just new in

  96. the church. Is this about money? This is about, you know,

  97. how people think like it's all about money in the church.

  98. So I spoke to the sister that invited me to

  99. the church.

  100. Why is it like that?

  101. Why are you always asking for money? And she said, oh, no,

  102. just do it because you will be blessed. I said, yeah,

  103. but it's a lot of money.

  104. Yeah, just do it. Just trust God.

  105. So.

  106. I was an obedient. I wanted to be obedient.

  107. And I gave in to the money. Gave in to

  108. the fun. And so they got the van. A really

  109. nice van.

  110. Wow. For the church. But in my mind I said.

  111. That's my money. It's part of that. Okay God. But

  112. I'm still here. And then many months later. After that.

  113. My father came from the Philippines. And I wanted to.

  114. I had a run-down car. And I wanted to just

  115. treat him because I know he's going to drive for me.

  116. So I said, oh, how can I get a new car?

  117. But you know what?

  118. God blessed me with a brand new Mercedes car.

  119. Praise God. And then I said, wow, Lord, how did

  120. this happen?

  121. And God reminded me, well, Didn't you sow in the

  122. church van? Didn't you give even though your heart was grumbling?

  123. Because you didn't understand, but you gave anyway. And I realized, wow,

  124. that is amazing, Lord. So I sowed and I harvested

  125. much more than I expected. Hallelujah.

  126. Okay, let's get back on track. All right, so what's

  127. the first ingredient in a harvest?

  128. The first ingredient in a harvest is the sower.

  129. Okay, the sower. There has to be a sower. There's

  130. a harvest that's going to happen. Who's the sower? Okay,

  131. I didn't see all the hands. Who's the sower? Amen.

  132. We are all sowers. We are all called to plant.

  133. We are the farmers because God has.

  134. Entrusted to each one of us something that can be planted.

  135. Something. It doesn't have to be big. It doesn't have

  136. to be small. God has entrusted to us something. And

  137. you know what?

  138. A farmer doesn't plant with an expectation that all he's

  139. going to plant is going to die. There is an

  140. expectation of harvest.

  141. Whenever you plant, you're always thinking. Oh, this is going

  142. to bloom. This is going to produce. This is going

  143. to happen. to be a lot.

  144. The expectation that the seed will eventually produce something.

  145. Right? Isn't that our expectation? Those who are gardening or planting. Julia. Julia.

  146. So if you plant a flower, you expect it to

  147. bloom in the right season, isn't it? If you plant vegetables,

  148. you're going to get your tomatoes, your beans, whatever.

  149. A harvest of vegetables.

  150. There is an expectation attached to planting. In the same

  151. way when we sow to God's kingdom, there should be

  152. an expectation of a harvest. Amen? Amen.

  153. So what does this mean? How do we sow? What

  154. are we sowing?

  155. For all practical purposes, sowing means giving. We sow into church.

  156. We sow into other people's lives. We sow into our families,

  157. our communities.

  158. We sow at work. We sow everywhere.

  159. And sometimes what we're doing, we don't even realize we're

  160. sowing because it seems so ordinary.

  161. It seems so normal. Right?

  162. It doesn't have to be a grand gesture, a spectacular

  163. display of something.

  164. We are sowing every day.

  165. When we encourage someone, when we pray for someone, we

  166. give our time, we help someone who needs help.

  167. We give financially. You know, money is a very important seed.

  168. Right?

  169. The Bible says that there are two rivals, God and Money, mama.

  170. So it's a very, very important seed in our hands. Okay.

  171. So all these things become seed in our hands. And

  172. the important thing is the sower has to actually plant seeds.

  173. You have to actually release the seed from your hands

  174. and put it in the ground because the seed in

  175. your hands is dead. It will never produce a harvest

  176. if you leave it in your hands. You need to

  177. plant it so that there will be a harvest at

  178. the right season. There has to be a moment When

  179. the farmer releases that seed and puts it in the ground.

  180. And that is where faith comes in. Because once the

  181. seed leaves your hand and goes into the ground, you

  182. cannot see it anymore. You can't see what's happening in

  183. the seed underneath the ground.

  184. That part belongs to God.

  185. Whatever you planted, it's gone. But it's working behind the scenes.

  186. Down where you've planted it, God is at work.

  187. Amen? Hallelujah. So we've got the sower.

  188. Next we need the seed.

  189. The next ingredient is the seed itself.

  190. And one of the most important things we need to

  191. remember is God is the one who supplies the seed.

  192. 2 Corinthians 9, verse 10 says, Now he who supplies, he,

    2 Corinthians 9:10

  193. meaning God, supplies the seed to the sower, to the sower,

  194. and bread for food will also supply and increase the

  195. store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.

  196. So, God provides the seed to the sower, to us.

  197. We don't have to look for the seed. He's already

  198. giving it to us.

  199. And this is important because we can easily look at

  200. ourselves as the one.

  201. Who's providing the seed. That it comes from us. That

  202. it comes from our abilities, our capacity.

  203. John 3, verse 27 says, A man can receive nothing

    John 3:27

  204. unless it has been given to him from heaven.

  205. Whatever we have, whatever we receive, they didn't come from us.

  206. They came from heaven. They came from God. Everything we

  207. have ultimately comes from God.

  208. Our money, our time, our gifts, our talents, everything that

  209. we have. And we need to recognize that. That God

  210. has already placed that in your hands.

  211. Of course we need to work hard. Of course we

  212. need to be responsible. Of course we need to do

  213. a lot of the things.

  214. These are all good things. But we shouldn't look at

  215. them as those things came from us. All these things

  216. came from God. And he asked us to be faithful

  217. with what he's already given to us.

  218. Everything that is given to us, we need to be faithful.

  219. We need to mind what the seed, the seed that

  220. are in our hands, need to be planted. All right,

  221. so we have the seed. We have the sower, that's us.

  222. What else do we need? Amen, the soil. Right?

  223. We need the soil. Now, the seed needs to go

  224. into us.

  225. A good soil, where you plant your seed makes a

  226. big difference.

  227. It makes a difference when you plant.

  228. You cannot plant in a rocky ground or, you know,

  229. the Bible speaks of a rocky ground.

  230. Some seed fell on the path, some among thorns.

  231. And some seed fell into good ground.

  232. And those are the ones that bear much fruit.

  233. So the seed was capable of producing a harvest, but

  234. it needs good soil. This is something we need to

  235. think about in our own lives. Where are we planting

  236. our seeds? Where are we investing our time? Where are

  237. we putting our money? Our resources are not unlimited, so

  238. we need to be thoughtful about where we sow them.

  239. There is only one investment. That will never be wasted.

  240. I worked in the financial services. I know about investment.

  241. But there is one investment. Where you could never lose.

  242. Where your money will never be. Where your money will

  243. be wasted. Whatever you do for the kingdom. 1 Corinthians 15.58 says.

  244. Whatever we do for the Lord. Is never wasted. Amen.

  245. This is a heavenly investment that returns.

  246. Over a hundredfold. Over. You know, we watched the.

  247. Conference, not the conference, the meeting on faith-driven entrepreneurs, right?

  248. And one thing that we took away from that was

  249. that we are called to live, to give, right? And

  250. we must raise our standard of giving, not our standard

  251. of living.

  252. Amen? We always think, oh, I got to do better.

  253. I got to, you know, I got to climb up

  254. the ladder.

  255. We're always thinking of raising our standard of living. But actually,

  256. we are called to raise our standard of giving.

  257. Amen?

  258. We must plant our seeds in good soils.

  259. All right. What else do we need for a bountiful harvest?

  260. We've got the seed. We've got the soil, a good soil.

  261. What else do we need?

  262. Clue. Starts with S again. S. Starts with S. We're

  263. in the S mode. We're the sowers. Then we have

  264. the seeds and we have the soil.

  265. The sun. We need the sun. Amen. You're catching up, guys.

  266. Thank you, Lord.

  267. So the sun gives us energy and light because that's

  268. what it needs to grow.

  269. Without sunlight, plant cannot survive.

  270. Even in places where there's no natural sunlight, you know,

  271. they put artificial light.

  272. That's what they put. Psalm 84 verse 11. For the Lord.

    Psalms 84:11

  273. God is a sun and shield. The Lord bestows favor

  274. and honor. John 8 verse 12 says.

    John 8:12

  275. I am the light of the world, Jesus is saying.

  276. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will

  277. have the light of life.

  278. Amen. Amen.

  279. There is a part where we are called to play

  280. we plant the seed we water it we nurture it

  281. but we cannot make it grow by our own strength

  282. amen we cannot.

  283. Tell plant plant grow you know plant be ready bear

  284. fruit Plant be bountiful. No, that part belongs to God.

  285. The growth, the increase, and the harvest are ultimately in

  286. God's hands. And this is such an important reminder because

  287. sometimes we can be so focused on.

  288. Our own work, right?

  289. That we actually think we're responsible for our increase. That

  290. we actually think that because of our hard work, because

  291. of our Intelligence, our abilities, our responsibility, you know, how

  292. responsible we are that we are actually producing the increase.

  293. It is God who provides the increase.

  294. He takes what we have planted and causes it to produce.

  295. Amen? So we do our part and God brings the increase.

  296. Just as the sun provides what the plant needs to grow,

  297. God provides what is necessary for the seed to grow.

  298. The seed is in our hands, but the increase is

  299. in God's hands.

  300. Amen?

  301. So when the sower plants the seed, and the seed

  302. goes into a good soil, and.

  303. The soil has enough sun, guess what happens? You get that? Clue,

  304. it starts with an S again. So you get a

  305. bumper crop.

  306. What's the opposite of the shortage? There was a famine,

  307. but he planted. There's a surplus.

  308. Wonderful. Well done, students. Amen. Amen.

  309. So you've just crossed over from shortage to surplus because

  310. God will give you the surplus.

  311. And this is the principle of multiplication.

  312. The harvest is greater than the seed that was originally planted.

  313. Amen? Amen. Oh, okay. I thought you're not showing it

  314. because I cannot see it from the monitor. All right, so.

  315. We experience a surplus whenever we plant and whenever it

  316. goes to good soil. The harvest is greater than the

  317. seed that was originally planted.

  318. Luke 6, 38. I don't know if it's there. It says,

  319. give and it will be given to you. How much?

  320. Good measure. Good measure. Press down.

  321. Shaken together and running over more than you can hold.

  322. Wow, that's a lot. More than you can hold.

  323. So when we sow, we are trusting him with what

  324. happens next. The return may be financial or it could

  325. be any other form. It could be restoration of relationships, salvation,

  326. opportunity to be blessed in many ways.

  327. Transformation. This is something we cannot buy. Amen. Amen.

  328. So I just want to come back to Isaac when

  329. he started with the famine. Because this is particularly relevant

  330. to us. God blessed him. And the Bible says that

  331. he continued to prosper even then. So what it shows

  332. is that God is not limited by the conditions around us.

  333. Famine did not prevent God from blessing Isaac. Lack did

  334. not prevent God from multiplying Isaac. You know, we know

  335. about the story of the five loaves of bread and

  336. the fish, how God multiplied it. So he is not

  337. concerned with the condition. He is concerned about how, what

  338. we do with the seed that he has given to us.

  339. Are we sowing it or are we keeping it? One

  340. time we visited Julia's allotment. And she said, oh, my

  341. plants are dying. They're so limp. They're close to the ground.

  342. They haven't been watered. It's been hot very recently. So

  343. we helped her with watering the whole allotment.

  344. It's a big one. The water cans are big. It

  345. was heavy.

  346. We were there for a few hours watering each one.

  347. And she said, wow, look at them. There's a change.

  348. They're all now kind of lifted up. Is that the

  349. word for plants? So we watered the whole allotment. Heavy

  350. watering cans.

  351. By the end of it, we sat down and had tea.

  352. Did a little bit of conversation talking about it. And

  353. then we went back to the allotment. And then we

  354. picked the fruits of the They were lying there, right?

  355. Tomatoes, beans, garlic, whatever. All of them.

  356. And you know, we came away with a harvest.

  357. We had tomatoes big as this.

  358. We had beans big as that.

  359. I've never seen so many beans. But you know why?

  360. Why we came away with a harvest? Because we sowed

  361. in her garden. We would have never gotten that if

  362. we didn't go and planted and did what we did.

  363. And that's just a tiny thing, you know. But God

  364. can show you, whenever you sow, there's an expectation of

  365. harvest in whatever form. So what are the steps to

  366. a bountiful harvest? Okay, let's read it. Do we have

  367. the last page? So, in times of shortage, what do

  368. we do?

  369. The last one.

  370. So, don't worry about the condition where you're in. Just

  371. keep sowing, you know, even though the conditions are not right.

  372. Sow anyway.

  373. Actually, the best time to sow is when you need

  374. a lot or when you need something.

  375. That's the best time to plant. Amen. We are all

  376. called to sow. God already gives us the seed.

  377. It's in our hands. Whatever is in our hands. God

  378. is not looking for a seed that is not in

  379. our hands. Whatever is in your hand is a seed. Amen?

  380. The soil.

  381. It is very important to choose wisely where we sow.

  382. Make sure it's a good soil that it will sustain

  383. that seed once it's planted. Don't waste your seed to

  384. things that will not make it productive. Always be connected

  385. to God who gives the increase. And a bumper crop

  386. harvest is what we're going to expect once we start sowing. Amen?

  387. Amen?

  388. So I want us to remember that a harvest begins

  389. with a seed. And the seed that God has placed

  390. in our hands may not look like much today. But

  391. it will be in a few times, in the right season.

  392. Don't hold back the seed.

  393. Release it. Release the seed. Don't hold it back. If

  394. you don't, you will never see a harvest.

  395. And when the harvest comes, remember that the seed belongs

  396. to God. The soil belongs to God. The sun and

  397. the surplus comes from him. And this is why the

  398. harvest also belongs to him.

  399. Amen? In Jesus' name. Amen. Hallelujah.
