Sunday Message: Learning the Language of There

-
Last few weeks, we've been talking about a series called A Place Called There.
-
Admittedly, we've used this series to kind of weave in our story, to where you tell the story of my wife and I's journey to our place called There.
-
We believe um through our time of prayer that it has always been Carrollton.
-
Even once we moved out here as early as 2012, I say 2013, 2014, somewhere in there, we believe that our place called there was Carrollton.
-
And so even though we've had different experiences primarily in Cop County, Georgia, through a different ministry, uh Faith Christian, thank you so much for your investment into us.
-
We always knew we had an inheritance in Carrollton.
-
And so to be here, we just led to talk about a place called there.
-
And honestly, we feel our experiences have qualified because God qualifies the call, but allowed us to be able to do this.
-
So we're teaching on a place called there.
-
This is part three, okay?
-
Part one, we broke bread, we established the concept that God has a place called there for each and every one of us.
-
In Jeremiah chapter 29, verse 11.
-
To give you a hope in the future and an expected end.
-
So there's a place called there for each and every one of our lives.
-
As we continue on, let's back it up a little bit.
-
We have a lifetime there, that means we have a yearly there, a monthly there, and I was a daily there.
-
Then this past week, we introduced the idea that there's a place called there, even our place of prayer, right?
-
So in our place of prayer, there is a place that God wants us to get to.
-
So then we we went to Psalm 91.
-
We talk about Psalm 91, week one.
-
We continue in week two from Psalm 91, starting at verse 1, and roll another down.
-
There's um, as opposed to reading an entire passage to you, there's a few different scriptures, particularly in Psalm 91, verse 1 and 2, think of verse 7 and 8, or 8, 9, and 10, somewhere in there.
-
I want to read.
-
He that dwells in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
-
That person can say of the Lord, He is my God, He is my refuge, He is my fortress, in Him will I trust, right?
-
And then their conditional promise.
-
I say conditional, because this is an if-then statement for the person that dwells, not visits, dwells.
-
Dwells, right?
-
You get the promises, what God will do, what He can count on.
-
Verse 9.
-
Because thou have made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most high, thy habitation.
-
The habitation.
-
There shall no evil befall thee, neither should any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
-
Where?
-
There.
-
Because he is our refuge.
-
We run to him, he is our habitation, and we live from that place called there.
-
In that secret place, there is protection.
-
It's here.
-
We have the we can we can be sure we'll be protected.
-
So this past week we talked about how we go there in our place of prayer.
-
There is an expected end and a place God wants to take us to through that communion, that time we have together on His divine calendar.
-
But take a step further.
-
From that place called there, once we leave that place to tie in the Philippians 4, 7, with peace, then we go out and we walk and we talk, right?
-
We talked about renewing our mind there because as we renew our mind, we begin to behold and become like him.
-
Why?
-
Because we spend time with him.
-
Whenever you spend time with a person, some of their personalities, quirks rub off on you.
-
And sometimes you don't really know it until you're away from them, right?
-
And so something happens, you say, Oh, I responded like this person, like that person.
-
We should, as believers, should respond like Christ, like God in any and all situations, circumstances.
-
Why?
-
Because we spend so much time with him.
-
So we talk about as we are working to make that secret place our habitations.
-
There are a few different ways that this works, right?
-
We have to John 15 talk about abiding.
-
And as we abide in him, there's a promise of good success.
-
His problem, hey, I promise you you'll be successful.
-
Honestly, you cannot be successful without him.
-
That's more accurate.
-
We cannot be successful without Christ, without remaining.
-
Men of I remain, I abide in Christ.
-
And so the longer that we do that, then we recognize God's character, his voice, his word, his will, and his ways.
-
And then once again, it begins to rub off on us.
-
Honestly, this week we want to expand that with the conversation is if we're gonna get comfortable or make this place our habitation, we have to learn how to communicate there.
-
You have to learn how to communicate there.
-
We have to learn how this works because what happens is this you if you're gonna hang out around a person, spend time with them, enough time to know their word, their will, their ways, amongst other things, their character, you have to be able to communicate with them.
-
And communication with God is called prayer.
-
One simple definition: communication with God, we call it prayer.
-
So we're going to abide with him in that secret place with him.
-
We gotta know how to talk to him, right?
-
And so this week we we want to expand with that, with the concept or the idea of the language of there, learning the language of there, but we're gonna juxtapose this with the ideal of a human relationship.
-
I emphasize the juxtaposition because we know human relationships flow from the heart of God and how God relates to the Son, the Holy Spirit in heaven, right?
-
So in human relationships, there are some relationship, surface level relationship, let's say it's mostly transactional, right?
-
Bare minimum, bare minimum interaction.
-
You know, did you do this?
-
Yes, I did.
-
Thank you.
-
Let's move on, right?
-
Transactional.
-
But in our society, we're looking for or valuing more deeper, more mature relationships.
-
In say relationships, once you communicate, you have the ability to have a wide range of type of conversation, right?
-
In these conversations, you may laugh with a person, you may celebrate them, you may ask questions, you may thank them, you may offer apologies, you may confess, you may grieve with them, disagree, seek help, offer help, correct, encourage, listen, sit silently, and amongst other things, but in the comfort, in the safety and security of these relationships, we're able to have these different types of conversations with that person.
-
If this is how we are in human relationships, how much more does God desire or want or make available the opportunity for us to do that with Him?
-
Right?
-
So, once again, if communication with God is called prayer, that means through our communication with God in our place of prayer, we have the ability to have this wide range of communication types with God.
-
And honestly, he's inviting us to do just this, to have these types of conversations.
-
Why?
-
Because they come from our heart, they come from a place of emotional safety, mental security, physical stability.
-
Why?
-
Because we're there with him in that secret place, and from that place, that place of commitment, that place of trust, we're able to go literally there.
-
Go there.
-
Because think about it.
-
The best conversations are you do you have to hide and sugarcoat?
-
Not saying you don't get respect, because some of that's part of the problem.
-
We don't respectfully have the conversations, right?
-
We tend to, you know, and we'll talk about this as we continue.
-
But there is safety because you're able to go there.
-
You don't have to walk on eggshells there.
-
Honestly, you is welcome.
-
Hey, I think about uh Matthew chapter 11, 20, 29, 30.
Matthew 11 chapter mention
-
Come unto me or wearing heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
-
All I can think about is a person going to a place and they're comfortable, able to take off their shoes, able to sit down and relax to take a load off your feet.
-
Right?
-
All I can think about.
-
And so it's almost like we come into the presence of God, we come into that conversation with God, prayer carrying so many different things, but unfortunately, we don't always get there, which is why we don't get the Philippians 4 7 promise, which is that place of peace.
-
So sometimes we go to prayer carrying dead dial worship, you know me, but we leave there not in peace.
-
We may leave in peace, says we might have a piece of it, part of you, okay, but the totality of you, no.
-
Why?
-
Because we have not gone there in prayer.
-
So let's look at an example.
-
Matthew chapter 6.
Matthew 6 chapter mention
-
Matthew chapter 6.
Matthew 6 chapter mention
-
This is Jesus talking, my uncle would say, This is in in hot sauce.
-
Jesus teaching his disciples how to pray, and so he gives us this beautiful one that a lot of us know.
-
But for the recap, Matthew chapter 6, verse 9.
-
After this matter, therefore pray ye when you pray, our Father who art in heaven, how to be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as is in heaven.
-
Give us this day our daily bread, forgive us our debts, forgive us our trespasses, depending on what your relationship you read, as we forgive those who trespass against us, or as we forgive our detorers.
-
Lead us not to temptation, but deliver us from evil.
-
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.
-
Amen.
-
Amen.
-
So we see the first part of this is relational.
-
Parterimon, our father.
-
So that kind of sets the scene of who we're talking to.
-
We're not talking to police officer, we're not talking to people that we owe bills to, we're not talking to, you know, people out to get you.
-
We're talking to our father.
-
For some of us, that's a red flag right there.
-
Depending on relationships, your relationship with the earthly father or male figure.
-
For some of us, that stopped the conversation right there.
-
You may have had a contentious relationship with your father for whatever reason.
-
You may not have known your father.
-
You or if you did have one, you know he was a workaholic.
-
So he was there, but wasn't always there.
-
Whatever.
-
But God wants us to approach as we approach a good father, right?
-
And so Jesus came, and one of the ways that he introduced God was that father, which kind of softens the blow a little bit, even if it took a while to understand your dad, because you had to get older to see the word from his point of view, right?
-
Just saying.
-
But our father.
-
But God so loved the word that he gave his only begotten son.
-
He had nothing else to give, so he gave his son.
-
And whosoever believed in him shall I perish, but have everlasting life.
-
Take a step further.
-
He pleased the father to bruise the son.
-
Why?
-
So we can come to know him.
-
So not only did he give it, he planted the son on our behalf.
-
So we can know him.
-
I could have went through him.
-
All the cows of a thousand hills.
-
He knows that we have needs.
-
Matthew 6.
-
Even before we act.
-
So, our father, the person that has the ability, the resources, the insight, the understanding to help positively impact the situation.
-
Who has experiences because he's has experience from there and he's looking back.
-
That's critical.
-
Experience.
-
Most parents are older, some a little closer to age than others, but they're older.
-
So they've been through things, they've seen stuff.
-
So they they they can talk to us from a different perspective of the same situation.
-
Some have been through the exact same.
-
He understands.
-
He genuinely understands.
-
Right?
-
So we talk somebody who understands.
-
We talk somebody who loves us, according to first 13, verses 4 through 6, 4, 6, 7, 8, I'm sorry.
-
We're talking to that person.
-
So put yourself in that mind, friend.
-
We're talking to a father who wants to be good to us, who loves us, who we're the apple of his eye.
-
It makes him glad.
-
You please the father.
-
So that's what you're talking about.
-
Somebody's pleased with us.
-
Let's just start, right?
-
And he continues with adoration.
-
Hallowed be thy name.
-
How great you are.
-
Then alignment.
-
Thy kingdom come, your kingdom come, your will be done.
-
Not so much our agenda.
-
His kingdom come, his will be done.
-
We see this um simple, we see this in Luke 22 when Jesus is praying before he goes to the cross.
-
Not my will, but thy will be done.
-
We see divine alignment, right?
-
To where we say, hey, this is where I am.
-
You can locate me right here, but honestly, I want to become where you are.
-
I want my desire to reflect yours, or how you want to word it.
-
Alignment.
-
Give us this day.
-
This is a petition, our daily bread.
-
We have needs.
-
Philippians 4.
-
Tell him what you need.
-
You can worry about it or tell him what you need.
-
And then thank him for what he's done, right?
-
Our daily bread.
-
And forgive us our debts.
-
As we forgive our debtors.
-
So you see a few things: confession, forgiveness, and repair.
-
So in this relationship, we can admit I fell, I've fallen short.
-
So sin means to miss the mark.
-
It's actually a hunting turn, like the archery.
-
So you're shooting toward a particular ball's eye.
-
So to sin, you missed that mark.
-
God, I missed it.
-
Particularly when you in that place called there, you're the place of rest.
-
So he can bring things to your remembrance.
-
Some of those are intrusive thoughts meant to distract you.
-
But some of them, even intrusive thoughts, you can take those and you can address it with him while you're there.
-
Then you realize, you know what?
-
I've missed it.
-
And I didn't I stopped at verse 13, we'll go to 14, 15, and a few other passages where Jesus teaches about prayer.
-
He's critical, like, hey, forgiveness is key.
-
As soon as this particular he said amen, the very next verse, forgive.
-
So meaning what you're asking God for, what you're looking for for God, be willing to extend it to other people.
-
Because it's almost a conditional statement.
-
If we refuse to forgive them, heaven probably cannot forgive us.
-
Can I, not will not, but can I throw it?
-
Reading this book is mind-blowing, right?
-
Mind blowing.
-
Okay.
-
Then lead us not into temptation.
-
Dependence.
-
Protection.
-
Different ways of approaching that.
-
You recognize there's opposition, which there is.
-
And we need God.
-
Let's go back to Psalm 91.
-
There's opposition out there.
-
But because we dwell in a secret place, we are divinely protected and provided for.
-
But deliver us from evil.
-
For thine to the kingdom, the power and the glory forever.
-
Amen.
-
So we see all this in how Jesus taught us to pray.
-
A range of different types of conversation that we can have with God.
-
And so now we see prayer.
-
I'm saying I said it wrong.
-
Proshi Q.
-
In the Greek, in the English translation of Greek, we say P-R-O-S-E-C-H.
-
One translation O M A I.
-
It's a variable O M A I.
-
But that's the most common word for prayer.
-
Right?
-
And so we have these things to do while we're there.
-
Because we have been granted the opportunity to go to prayer, to approach the Father by faith because of the blood.
-
So because of the price paid on cabbage tree, we can talk to the Father and we have permission to speak freely.
-
Yes, you're in.
-
Some people say you're in the court, in the courtroom.
-
And so it's like, may I speak?
-
You don't have to sit in the background.
-
No, no.
-
Permission to speak.
-
Permission you grant.
-
He wants to hear from you.
-
Honestly, we need him to hear from us.
-
Because a lot of times what we hold on to, those are the desires of the petitions of our heart that keep us from receiving from God.
-
You can't hold on to something, expect for him to share information, knowledge with you.
-
No, tell me what's on your mind.
-
Talking to your dad, and just not inside in the courthouse.
-
Just could be honestly at the house.
-
Pull up a chair, let's sit down.
-
Let's talk.
-
First of all, I love you.
-
I miss you.
-
Well, how are you doing?
-
What's going on with you?
-
First of all, alright.
-
Then we proceed.
-
Just a thought.
-
So different types of prayer, our understanding, based on the words, the different words that are there.
-
I'm probably gonna spell a lot more of these out than trying to pronounce them because I want to butcher the language.
-
So we see or you see an example of in the text, and I'm pulling also from Kenneth Hagen, the art of prayer, also.
-
So some overlap, but look at it through the lens of Matthew chapter 6.
Matthew 6 chapter mention
-
D C E S I D-E-E-S-I-S in English, which is the prayer of petition.
-
Uh, it could be uh entry, entreaty, an earnest request arriving from a place of need.
-
Then we got the prayer of petition, but a prayer of faith.
-
This is found in Matthew 7, verse 7 through 11, Mark chapter 11, verse 24, Philippians 4, 6, particularly the petition, right?
-
And so the petition is to actually make a request.
-
We can go in the second one.
-
The beauty of the confine or sitting on the couch with your dad, have a conversation, you can in faith make your request.
-
In faith, make your request.
-
So if we're talking.
-
About this, do we know?
-
So in the Bible, we can say, Father, and according to your father, your word says, the prayer of faith, your word says, right?
-
Your word says.
-
And so we go with our in faith with our petition.
-
Why?
-
Because we have his word.
-
We find it in text, we find it in scripture that we go to him with his word.
-
Father God, your word says, I'm healed.
-
Your word says, by your stripes, we are here.
-
Your word says, You need not give in the spirit of fear, but power, love, and sound thinking.
-
Your word says, right?
-
Your words, my God.
-
Pray the words, but prayer must change us because it makes us go to the text, right?
-
Prayer must change us before it changes the situation, right?
-
So this is responding to what God has revealed.
-
The logos beginning was one of the revelation or the rhema of that written word.
-
So you start off with the written word.
-
What does the word say about situation?
-
Then the prayer of faith takes hold of where grace is made available.
-
It's by grace through faith.
-
Confessing, confession and believing.
-
They collide.
-
So in our we're talking about the vertical lesson with God horizontally, can I communicate what I need instead of expecting somebody to discover?
-
You should have known.
-
No, no, no.
-
Say what you say.
-
Say what you need.
-
Even God, even Jesus talking about this Matthew.
-
We go down to Matthew chapter 6, Philippians 4.
Matthew 6 chapter mention
-
Tell him.
-
He knows my heart.
-
Yes, he does.
-
But he knows he cannot move on your behalf because your heart is prideful and selfish.
-
Because you're holding on to it.
-
Asking is a form of releasing.
-
Can you help?
-
Now I understand that for some of us we've been conditioned to not ask for help because help doesn't come.
-
Like that Whitney Houston song of Georgia Mass Choir, hold on, help is on the way.
-
He's coming.
-
He it's his pleasure.
-
It's probably the single most thing of the Holy Spirit is to help us.
-
So we got this situation set up where he's going to help us.
-
Now the help may not look or come from the source that we want because it's divine inspiring.
-
But it's it's coming to help you, right?
-
Then you got the prayer of consecration and dedication.
-
This is the proshame I talking about earlier.
-
Then um, you got proshome and thelema.
-
Once again, proshome, one of the one of the the big words, one of the most used words of a hundred times for prayer in the Greek language.
-
Then Thelema, will desire, and purpose, consecration and dedication.
-
Not my will, but yours.
-
Going back to Jesus in the garden, Luke chapter 22, where he's praying, he's so intensely focused.
Luke 22 chapter mention
-
Sweat is coming down, it's blood.
-
God, I'm under so much pressure, so much duress, I'm up against it.
-
But I want your will to be done, Father God.
-
Yo, Yahweh, your way or Yahweh.
-
We want Yahweh over our way.
-
Yahweh over our way.
-
Yahweh or our way.
-
So relationships.
-
Can I surrender my preferences for the good of relationships?
-
Just some thought.
-
My preferences abort relationships.
-
And it's not the type to where we're saying that you're giving up who you are, your identity, right?
-
But once again, so we're talking to Heavenly Father, who wants what was best for us, and he has a way.
-
If it's a situation where it's not as black or white, a lot of gray, go with him.
-
And from that place, we can discern human relationships.
-
The prayer of commitment.
-
We got two words.
-
Or mergna.
-
Which is care, exotic or concern.
-
This can be found in 1 Peter 5.7.
-
Once again, Philippians 4, 6.
-
Father God, I release.
-
Cast your cares upon him, for he cares for you.
-
So we come with our dead stops, words, stress, and fears.
-
The things that if we're not careful, the enemy can use to steal, kill, and destroy our confidence, hope, and obedience in the word of God.
-
Why?
-
Because these are the things that are important to us.
-
These are the things that honestly keep us up at night trying to figure out how to get it done.
-
But we choose Philippians 4, 6, tell him what we need, thinking what he's done.
-
We choose that.
-
Now the question is can I pray about something without continuing to carry it as if nothing happened when I pray?
-
This example of you took your concern to God, Philippians 4.6, you prayed about it.
-
You prayed so much so, you hit that place of prayer.
-
You did, you got there.
-
So now you're walking away with your peace.
-
Now you walk away in peace, Philippians 4.8.
-
Can you keep your thoughts fixed?
-
Can you cast that care?
-
Because too many times we we have a fishing rod type relationship with God.
-
I'm gonna cast because that's literally what it means to cast, but I'm gonna reel it back in when that thought comes up.
-
I haven't replaced it with what you told me to do.
-
That's critical because from that place of peace, you can receive from him.
-
You can receive your word.
-
And then in the spiritual warfare in Ephesians 6, the Rhema, the word of God, the rhema of God becomes your store.
-
So in your place of prayer, tell God what you need, be thankful for what he's done, you receive peace.
-
He speaks back.
-
He speaks back.
-
That word, that rhema, that revelation, is your store.
-
So anytime that that situation comes up, this is your response.
-
This is your response.
-
That word is your response.
-
Why?
-
Because now you can move forward and you can defeat, because you have to believe that the enemy has believed that he has such a case against you in this particular area, whatever that is, that if he keeps bringing it up, he can get you to go back.
-
It's not like for something like Mark chapter 4.
Mark 4 chapter mention
-
This is an example of it.
-
You have a situation in your place of prayer, you receive a word from God.
-
So the enemy wants you to let go of that word.
-
He doesn't want you to have faith that what he says will come to pass.
-
No, he wants you to get off your faith to release your faith in a negative way so that you won't see what God promised come to pass in your life.
-
He doesn't want to see that happen.
-
So as a result, he's gonna apply afflictions, persecution, you're gonna apply pressure.
-
Why can he want you to stop believing, to stop speaking?
-
But the more you put on the helmet of salvation, the more you take the shield of faith, the more you take your dagger and you wield it, every time thought comes up, you cast it down.
-
You cast it out with the word.
-
Your words are choosing to cast down thoughts.
-
Because too many of us, we're not mature enough yet to defeat a thought with another thought.
-
You ain't there yet.
-
You can get there, you're not there yet.
-
So you need to open up your mouth more.
-
Defeat those thoughts with words, what's importantly, his words.
-
Ephesians 6, spiritual warfare.
-
That is the sword of the spirit.
-
It's called Rhema, not logos.
-
It's a huge difference.
-
Logos historically has been described as what's inside of here.
-
This is logos.
-
Absolutely zero wrong with this.
-
You need to begin here because this helps you strain the revelation or the rhema word.
-
If it's not aligned with this, throw it away.
-
If it is, move forward with it.
-
So we have the logos to get to the rhema.
-
So the rhema is your sword.
-
That is what you need to see the victory.
-
So can you release it?
-
Not like a not like a fisherman, no.
-
This is like throw and it's gone.
-
We release that.
-
And if we do bring something back, let's say you want to use analogy, we ain't bringing back the same stuff we put out there.
-
No, we bring it back bigger.
-
We're bringing back his word, we bring it back his promises, and that's what we reel in.
-
Okay.
-
Faith, throwing out there, reeling on in the provision, reeling on in the protection, reeling on in your word.
-
And I'm not gonna stop reeling, speaking in faith that I receive your word until I have it in my hands.
-
Glory be to God.
-
Same conversation.
-
Number four praise and worship.
-
Praise and worship.
-
T-E-H-I-L-L-A-H Lila, I'm gonna say, which means it was Hebrew for praise and barak B A R A K.
-
Hebrew for bless, use the blessing, praises to God in Greek P-R-O-S-K-Y-N-E-O.
-
To worship, to bow down, to pay homage.
-
This gives Matthew 6,9 God your praise worship for who he is and what he's done.
-
Who he is and what he's done.
-
Relationships cannot affirm, speak life with somebody when I don't need anything from him.
-
Sometimes we should just go to God.
-
God, I don't need anything in this moment.
-
I just want to give you your praise.
-
Just want to worship you.
-
Who you are and what you've done.
-
Don't forget gratitude.
-
Please.
-
Which is number five.
-
Eucharista.
-
Thanksgiving to gratitude.
-
Keep that list.
-
Please keep that list.
-
Another Hebrew Yada, Y A D A H.
-
We can express acknowledgement, thanksgiving, and praise, depending on the context.
-
The Bible says, in everything, not for everything, give thanks.
-
So we should be thankful people.
-
Philippians 4, 6.
-
Tell them what you need, thank him for what he's done.
-
Never forget what God has done for you.
-
That's your testimony.
-
Not only that, that's your encouragement, but he will do it again.
-
It helps with your expectation.
-
And if you don't have it yet, you don't have that background with him.
-
What's he done for somebody close to you?
-
Somebody you respect.
-
Whether it's in it's in a text or in real life, somebody you respect.
-
Well, you did it for this person.
-
Bet come on.
-
Because it works in negative too.
-
Their experience of what hasn't happened, they share that with you.
-
So now it can affect you in the negative.
-
Why can't it affect you in the positive?
-
You did it for them, you can do it for me as well.
-
Hallelujah.
-
Thank you, Jesus.
-
And horizontal relationships, do I do the people I love actually know that we appreciate them?
-
Do they really know?
-
Or you know, they should based on you know whatever.
-
No, do they genuinely know?
-
Then we got the prayer supplication.
-
Press supplication, D-E-S-I-S.
-
We talked about it earlier as a petition.
-
It could also be supplicate and e-c hebrew I-E-N-A-H supplication, entreaty, plea for favor.
-
Also, Philippians 4 6, Hebrews 4.16, 1 Kings 8.28.
-
Supplication, how is earnest dependence and vulnerability?
-
God, I I need you.
-
Relationships, can we be vulnerable enough to admit to somebody that we genuinely need them?
-
Because the opposite.
-
I don't need nobody because if you have no expectations, you won't get hurt.
-
Yeah.
-
But the devil wants you just to believe and to stay there.
-
Because some of us, if we're being completely honest, we don't even need Jesus.
-
Just a thought.
-
Intercession and petition.
-
Prayer of intercession.
-
E-N E-N-T-E-U-X IS in two seas.
-
And Paga.
-
In Hebrew.
-
First Timothy 2, 1 and 2, Ephesians 6 18.
-
God, I'm bringing this person before you so now we're getting to beyond me, myself, and mine, to them and them and theirs.
-
Some point we have to spiritual maturity, right?
-
You got babes, young adults, and mature per people.
-
Difference between young and babies, typically.
-
Teenagers are selfish, typically.
-
Typically but as you get older, you should have the gain the capacity to think about somebody else.
-
Think beyond me, myself, and my especially in the face of prayer.
-
You also have what's called the prayer of agreement.
-
Symphonio.
-
S-y-m-p-h o-n-e-o in English, which means to agree or to be in the court, which find in Matthew chapter 18, verse 19.
-
We agree.
-
Symphony, you know.
-
Simply, different pieces.
-
All saying the same thing.
-
Unity without uniformity.
-
God have been given different graces or different gifts.
-
But it's the same giver the gifts.
-
Can we unify without diversity to be able to make a beautiful poem, beautiful masterpiece?
-
That's ultimately what he wants.
-
Prayer unity, corporate prayer, one accord and one voice, Acts chapter 4, verse 23 through 31.
-
They prayed with all boldness.
-
And as a result, the building began to shape is a really, really interesting story.
-
So they were in agreement, and they were in unity.
-
Agreement and unity.
-
And together, God moved.
-
This was the corporate gathering, right?
-
And undergirding about this is a few different things.
-
Prayer of the Spirit.
-
We know the Bible talks about we ought we know not how we ought to pray, but the Holy Spirit prays for us in groanings and murmurings.
-
So you do have that, but you also have the heavenly language.
-
We know that in the Acts, the book of Acts, the day of Pentecost, heavenly languages.
-
So you can almost say that you used all tongue and interpretations at the same time, but you also have the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the Bible evidence of speaking in tongues.
-
That's the being the beginning, and as they went throughout their way in the book of Acts, then they say the Holy Spirit is here.
-
Why?
-
Because of what they heard.
-
So we have the prayer in the spirit as well.
-
Paul said, I pray in the spirit morning, and if you do combine.
-
So we should always pray in the spirit.
-
We pray in the spirit and with our understanding.
-
1 Corinthians chapter 14.
1 Corinthians 14 chapter mention
-
Pray in English, but also pray in the spirit as well.
-
He who speaks in an unknown tongue edifies himself.
-
Just saying, it's a tool.
-
Utilizing.
-
So we have these different types of prayers to where we're engaging in a relationship with our dad, with our heavenly father.
-
And as we do this, then what happens is we have to honestly challenge our preconceived notions that we bring.
-
We have to be honest.
-
Okay, what am I bringing into this conversation?
-
All right.
-
What has life taught me?
-
What's experience taught me about relationships in this way, that way?
-
What is going on here?
-
Has life taught you?
-
Don't ask, don't need anyone, don't admit weakness, don't tell anybody when they hurt you, don't disagree, people pleasing, get them or leave before they reject you, get them before they get you, always stay in control.
-
So now we have to be careful because if we will take this in our place of prayer, and these will be barriers that keep her from going there in prayer.
-
Our experience and relational histories can influence which dimension of relationship can feel safe.
-
Difficult for you.
-
If affection was conditional, worship without performance may be difficult.
-
If asking results in disappointment, petition may feel dangerous.
-
If hypervigilance helped protect me, commitment act actually casting the care and releasing control feels terrified.
-
Why?
-
Because I learned response may say, Don't let it go.
-
Hold on to it until you see, until you know that it's so now what we get back to the point.
-
Prayer must change us before it can change our situation.
-
In that place of prayer, God is inviting us to challenge the way that we learn to relate.
-
Not denying what happened, but respecting and acknowledging that the experience did teach me certain stuff.
-
Well, remembering what happened doesn't have to have the final say on my relationship with God, how I see myself, or how I view other people.
-
Boy, that was good if I talk for too long.
-
So in conclusion, the challenge is this what type of conversation do you need to have with God in this particular moment?
-
We need to have a conversation about faith, Father, and according to your what you've said, your word says this prayer of consecration, not my will, but your will.
-
Prayer of commitment, Father God, I'm casting this care to you.
-
Prayer of worship, God, you are prayer of thanksgiving.
-
God, I just grateful.
-
Thank you.
-
Prayer supplication.
-
God, I need your help.
-
Prayer of intercession, God, on behalf of them.
-
Prayer of agreement before you.
-
Two or three are gathered.
-
We agree.
-
United.
-
God, we come to always pray.
-
Pray in the spirit.
-
Then from that place, as you get settled, as you walk throughout your day with your instructions.
-
Because he will speak back.
-
Because you let him in.
-
Not because you quote unquote had the right combination, said the right code, but because you opened up the heart, poured out the treasures of your heart.
-
And from that place, now he can work because he has you.
-
You gave him you.
-
Good, bad, and different, and allowed him to come in and meet you there.
-
And he's like, now I can work.
-
Because now I'm talking to my son and to my daughter.
-
Not who the world tried to make you.
-
Not that defense mechanism, not that version of you, that facade, no, no, no, talking to the genuine you.
-
Weary beating battery and bruise.
-
Excited, whatever, however, the real you in this moment.
-
And that's who he wants to bless.
-
So as we depart, please remember in that place of safety, prayer has ranged different types of and God is emotionally, mentally, physically, to handle it.
-
Become as you are.
-
Let him meet you where you are, and he'll help you become as he is, right?
-
And as we do that, there's only one thing left to say Love God, live both.
