  11. And you say....

  12. Welcome to Logos Rima R with God's servant, Rev.

  13. Dr.

  14. Joseph Baalbin, Head Pastor of Harvest Chapel International Kumasi. And now,

  15. to today's message.

  16. Let's take our confession, Joshua 1, verse 8. This book

    Joshua 1:8

  17. of the Lord shall not depart out of my mouth.

  18. but I shall meditate in it day and night, that

  19. I may observe to do according to all that is

  20. written in it. For then I will make my way prosperous,

  21. and then I will have good success. Amen. Why don't

  22. you take your seats in this presence as we welcome

  23. each other to the presence of God and continue with

  24. our discourses on how best We can bring order into

  25. our relationships. Hallelujah. Amen. And once again, anytime that we

  26. tackle a topic, we don't do abstract preaching. These themes,

  27. if you like, they are dear to God's heart. It's

  28. all part of the construction process of the new man

  29. or the deconstruction of the old man so we can

  30. put away the old and put on the new. Hallelujah.

  31. So that wherever we go, men and women who come

  32. close to us, they can recognize that we are the

  33. children of God. And remember our text for the month,

  34. our anchor scripture is taken from Colossians 3.13 that be

  35. gentle and ready to forgive. Never hold grudges. Remember, the

  36. Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. And we

  37. read last Sunday, we read or took a look at

  38. the message translation, which begins from 12 to 14. Very interesting.

  39. It says, so chosen by God for this new life

  40. of love, dressed in the wardrobe God picked out for you. Compassion, kindness, humility,

  41. quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick

  42. to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as

  43. the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you

  44. put on, wear love. It's your basic, all-purpose garment. Never

  45. be without it. Amen. Hallelujah. We say that we are

  46. trusting God to bring order into our relationships. A lot

  47. of us are very dysfunctional in our relationships, vertically and

  48. then horizontally. And we have made the point that if

  49. we are able to firm up the vertical relationship, where

  50. we walk in love and obedience. Amen. Love and obedience.

  51. You see, we know we are hearing a lot of

  52. the teaching, but we are not practicing it. And Jesus said,

  53. if you love me, you will obey my commandments. That

  54. is the only way that the new man is going

  55. to spring up That is the only way we can

  56. deconstruct the old man. You and I, we are all hurting.

  57. All humanity is hurting. Our relationships, they are not working well.

  58. Either the relationship vertically with God, heavenward, or that with man,

  59. horizontally or heavenward. Hallelujah. Amen. It's all simply because we

  60. always think we have an opinion. Amen. You're going to

  61. be able to follow God and follow Him afar, and

  62. get the needed transformation, so that we can once again

  63. be image bearers of God, then I'm afraid we don't

  64. have any choice but to obey. And the whole thing

  65. is that initially, whenever we are hesitant, and the more

  66. we are hesitant, the more difficult it becomes, or even

  67. as far as to kick start. But immediately the commandment,

  68. And the instruction comes, and then you obey. Or even

  69. at any time. Remember the parable Jesus said, I went

  70. and the dad sent two people, and then one said,

  71. I am going. And then he didn't go. He went

  72. on the way and said, And then he turned his back.

  73. And then the other one initially said, I'm not going.

  74. But then on reflection, he decided, no, it's wrong to

  75. disobey my dad. I will go. And then I went.

  76. He went. And then Jesus still asked the question, which

  77. of them did the fathers believe? And which one would

  78. be pleased? Or would be pleased into the dark? Is

  79. it the one who said, I'm going, but never went?

  80. Or the one who said, I won't go. But later on,

  81. after a change of heart, decided to go. Amen. So

  82. God knows that sometimes we sit on the fence. We hesitate.

  83. We want to process it in our hearts, in our minds. Hallelujah.

  84. But ultimately, be what it may If we say we

  85. won't go, later on he wants us to repent and go. Amen.

  86. And I keep on saying it. I want to say

  87. it again. The damage is substantial. The damage that has

  88. been done to our psyche and our souls and everything

  89. before coming to Jesus Christ. It's quite deep. So there's

  90. a lot of work to be done, a lot of

  91. Repair work to be done. A lot of drugs to

  92. be burnt out, to be burnt out in our lives.

  93. So that like Eugene Peterson says here in the message,

  94. so that we can put on the wardrobe that God

  95. has given us, the compassion, that we own the humility,

  96. the kindness, the quiet strength, the discipline, the even-temperedness, being

  97. content with second place, quick to forgive and offend, quick

  98. to forgive and offend. Forgive as quickly, like he said,

  99. as completely, just as Jesus has forgiven us. Hallelujah. Amen.

  100. And we are trusting God that, you know, this year

  101. of order, a lot of all the disorderliness in our lives,

  102. the dysfunction, we can rectify them. As we look at

  103. these things, we can be like Jesus. God is not

  104. going to thrust upon us an impossible, you know, idea or,

  105. you know, When God says that you can do it,

  106. He knows. After all, He created us. He knows where

  107. the damage has been done. And He knows just where

  108. to tackle and apply the truth. Hallelujah. And for you

  109. and I, born again believers, true, sincere, genuine, The Holy Spirit,

  110. by its cause, if you like, advance, if you like,

  111. notice and commitment that we are going to do this

  112. deconstruction process, me and you. That's the Holy Spirit. That's

  113. why he serves us. His Holy Spirit. When we don't

  114. deserve it. Look, the Holy Spirit coming inside of us

  115. doesn't mean that we are fine. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. The fact

  116. that God consents, no, he knows there's a lot of damage.

  117. But then, as good will, he sends him. Because without

  118. the Holy Spirit coming on site, we can't do it.

  119. So all that he wants to see in us is

  120. that a certain level, measure, consistency, incorporating with the Holy Spirit.

  121. And the Holy Spirit will apply the truth of the

  122. Word of God He'll be our biggest fan base. He'll

  123. be our biggest cheerleader. And he'll urge us on, go, go, go, go. Forgive, forgive, forgive, forgive.

  124. Be kind, be kind, be kind. Hallelujah. And in as

  125. much as we yield to his persuasion, then we are

  126. becoming more and more and more like Jesus. Like 2

  127. Corinthians 3.18 says, as we behold his face day by

  128. day in the world. He says, all of us, we

  129. are being changed. We are being changed. It's a process. Daily,

  130. it's a process. We are being changed to look more

  131. and more like him. Hallelujah. But beginning, we must begin

  132. And we made the point that life is all about relationship. Good, healthy,

  133. orderly relationship between God, our creator, and ourselves. And amongst

  134. his creation, our creatures. Hallelujah. Amen. We mentioned the two-dimensional

  135. nature of relationship, which is what I've just said. Heaven work,

  136. earth work. Hallelujah. And God is the one who designed

  137. it so. He has created a world that can only

  138. operate in full functional capacity when the loving, caring, functional

  139. relationship between the Creator and the rest of His creation

  140. are working in perfect order or in harmony. That is

  141. why God is supreme. Our relationship with God is the

  142. supreme one. But he says that it won't work just

  143. with us. Even though God loves humanity. Say a big amen.

  144. John 3, 16. For God so loved the world that

  145. he gave. Whosoever believes should not perish, but have everlasting life.

  146. If you decide that me, I'll love God. But when

  147. it comes to men, difficult men, I'll hesitate. You won't

  148. get on well with God. God will say, you love me,

  149. love my creation. Hallelujah. Amen. And then we went through

  150. to still look at the damage. So we zoned in

  151. into Genesis 3 to tell us and read through the

  152. whole of Genesis 3 on Sunday and then passed a

  153. few comments here and there just so we can understand

  154. what happened to you and I. Hallelujah. Amen. What happened

  155. to you and I? What happened to our first spirits?

  156. Because we know that God created a very perfect being

  157. who was capable, qualified, and indeed was bearing the image

  158. and the likeness of God. I always like St. Luke's

  159. genealogy of Jesus Christ. He traces the lineage of Jesus

  160. Christ all the way to Adam. And then when it

  161. came to Adam, he said, Adam, the son of God. Adam,

  162. the son of God. Hallelujah. And you and I, we understand.

  163. When we say somebody is your son, it means that

  164. there is a certain part of you that has been transferred.

  165. If you like, some genetic material that has been transferred

  166. into that person. That's what makes that person your son.

  167. That is why when there is a dispute between paternity,

  168. they go and do the DNA test. The DNA test

  169. will establish it. Hallelujah. If we caught Adam now and

  170. we did a DNA test, we will find out that

  171. the genes of God is in you and I, the

  172. same thing. Hallelujah. So Luke writes, and Luke was a doctor,

  173. so he writes to Poseidon and he says, Adam, the

  174. son of God. And we know what happened in the

  175. Garden of Eden. Moses described before, he said, and God

  176. breathed into the man the breath of life and he

  177. became and living so. Before then, God had told the Father,

  178. had told God the Son, God the Holy Spirit, as

  179. they planned to execute the human project. He said, let

  180. us make man in our image and likeness. And then

  181. we will just deploy him to superintend the rest of

  182. the creation. And that is exactly what they did. Hallelujah.

  183. That is Genesis 1. So God created a perfect being.

  184. And in Genesis chapter 2, When we come there, Moses

    Genesis 2 chapter mention

  185. picks the picture of a harmonious working relationship between creator

  186. and creature. Adam was God's son and Adam was being

  187. held by God and was doing everything. God was facilitating

  188. everything to make Adam a successful person. A successful person.

  189. And for you and I who are genuine, authentic, sincere,

  190. born-again people, we can testify the supernatural help that we

  191. receive from God. So that was the picture in its

  192. full capacity. That was what was unfolding in Genesis chapter 2.

    Genesis 2 chapter mention

  193. The Bible is very clear. God, it was that brought

  194. all the creation, the creation to Adam. And said, son,

  195. can you assign a name to the animal? Hallelujah. Amen. Amen. Hallelujah.

  196. And whenever I look at that story, I say it

  197. is good that, you know, some of the elements like

  198. the sun, the moon, God gave the name to it. Hallelujah.

  199. Hallelujah.

  200. Amen. God assigned the names, the sun, the moon, those

  201. names were assigned by God. It was the animals and

  202. then the birds and then that he gave Adam the privilege,

  203. the wonderful privilege to assign him to it. If he

  204. had given it all for Adam, you and I, we

  205. would say we created the world. Hallelujah. So God, in

  206. his own wisdom, just to remind us that it belongs

  207. to him. He's the one who assigned some names and

  208. then if you like, made him you and I partners

  209. and not the original makers of our world. Hallelujah. Amen.

  210. And then when he saw that God, when he saw

  211. that Adam was very lonely, you know, God decided that

  212. I'm going to make a suitable partner for him. And

  213. then God created Eve for Adam. Hallelujah. A suitable person

  214. so that he could also enjoy The fellowship. Because you

  215. realize that the context there was that, you know, it

  216. looked as if almost all creation were paired. It was

  217. only Adam who was alone. And God put him to sleep,

  218. anesthetized him, removed the rib cage, and then created somebody

  219. just like him. And he burst out in excitement. This

  220. is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh.

  221. He shall be called woman. Hallelujah. Amen. Hallelujah. So that

  222. was how chapter 2 ended. Adam and God partying in

  223. the Garden of Eden. They were having a reception. Post-marital

  224. reception to place in the Garden of Eden. God officiated

  225. the wedding ceremony alone. Hallelujah. Tells you how much God

  226. loves humankind. They were still in their honeymoon because there

  227. was no children. And then chapter 3. Boom. Everything got

  228. messed up. So how did this start? And that is

  229. where we went. I read through Genesis chapter 3. Hallelujah. Amen.

    Genesis 3 chapter mention

  230. The test of loyalty still remained. God had been very,

  231. very clear to Adam and Eve that you can have

  232. access to everything. All the fruit in the garden, they

  233. are yours for your enjoyment. But, but, This particular tree

  234. in the middle of the garden of Eden. Called the

  235. tree of the knowledge of good and evil. On the

  236. day you take of it, contrary to my instruction, you

  237. will die. God said you will surely die. And so

  238. in chapter 3, that test of loyalty plays out. When

  239. Eve goes around the garden and then He's confronted by

  240. another voice. God's arch enemy, Satan, another voice who casts

  241. doubts on the word of God and instruction and says,

  242. you won't die. Contrarily, you become a wiser person. You'll

  243. be wise. Your eyes will open. You'll be wise. God

  244. himself knows that you won't die. And the Bible says

  245. that when Eve looked at Satan and then You know,

  246. was convinced that it was a tree that was beautiful

  247. and its fruit looked delicious. And she wanted the wisdom

  248. it would give her. So she took some of the

  249. fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her

  250. husband who was with her. And he ate it too.

  251. And that moment, he said, their eyes were open and

  252. they suddenly felt shame. And they are naked then. Then

  253. they sealed the fig leaves together to cover themselves. Hallelujah.

  254. And so in verse 8 of chapter 3, that is

  255. where we see the first sign of a troubled relationship

  256. between God and us. Because the Bible says in verse 8,

  257. when the cool evening breezes were blowing, the man and

  258. his wife heard the Lord God walking about in the garden.

  259. So they hid from the Lord God among the trees.

  260. This was the same people that in chapter 2, they

  261. were celebrating the wedding ceremony. And I'm sure God was

  262. coming to ask Adam how the whole honeymoon went. Hallelujah.

  263. And then Lo and behold, here they were running away. Hallelujah.

  264. The friendship was no more. And instead, fear, nervousness, uncomfortableness

  265. in the presence of the Lord became the norm. The

  266. same thing. When you and I, our relationship with the

  267. Lord gets broken. The reason why some people don't come

  268. to church, even though they say they are born again,

  269. And should become. It's the uncomfortableness. When you are living

  270. in sin. And it's so easy to drift into sin.

  271. Now let's get this. It's one of the people messages

  272. that God whispered to me. And throughout the day I've

  273. just been trying to wrap it up. None of us here.

  274. Nobody in this world. After Papa Adam was created. After

  275. the fall. And as I said it was during the honeymoon.

  276. That they messed up. And everything changed. In their DNA.

  277. And then we read it last Sunday, and they were

  278. driven out, outside the walls of the Garden of Eden.

  279. And then they started their family life. That's where we

  280. go today, hopefully. Amen. None of us was born a

  281. nice person. Say amen to that. The nicest people here,

  282. all of us, who say we think we are nice,

  283. Have you heard what God's verdict? It says, look, that niceness,

  284. the cuteness, and all that. It says it's like filthy

  285. rags before you. Because God knows you. I wonder how

  286. many of us here would like a 24-hour video surveillance

  287. from God upon our thoughts and minds. 24 hours. And

  288. then on Sunday, God will come and then will roll

  289. it out. And then the first slave will come. So

  290. I'll be the first slave. This was the thoughts that

  291. were ongoing 24 hours. Can you see? That's your nice pastor.

  292. I'll say, Papa, please, can you go to Mommy first?

  293. And then Mommy will look around. Where are the ex-bad

  294. boys and bad girls? Who bail us out. Hallelujah. Amen. Okay.

  295. Pastor Francis. Hallelujah. Amen. To ask for Pastor Francis. Everybody

  296. knows his story. So when we roll it out. Hallelujah. Amen. Amen.

  297. So sometimes the nice boy, nice girl move that. It's

  298. a facade before God. Until, until we come to Jesus.

  299. Now when we come to Jesus and the video is played,

  300. when it starts rolling, Jesus will be there and he

  301. will be spraying his blood on it. Spraying his blood

  302. on it. Say, COVID! They are COVID! They are mine.

  303. I have my DNA in them. They are accepted of God. Hallelujah. Amen.

  304. And that's why the Bible says we are not ashamed

  305. of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Hallelujah. We are not

  306. ashamed of who we were. We are not ashamed of

  307. our past. That's why we come and testify that we

  308. are ex-bad boys and ex-bad girls. We are not ashamed. Look,

  309. When you get sincerely born again, it will be disarmed.

  310. And you'll find out that you'll come out of hiding.

  311. That was me. But today, I am a brand new person. Amen.

  312. That was me. But today, I am brand new. God

  313. has forgiven me. There's no more shame. There's no more hiding.

  314. And that's why we are able to come and give

  315. Him praise. Meet the others, let them talk, let them

  316. say holier than thou. Look, before God, hey, when you

  317. understand the gospel, it brings so much liberation. It brings

  318. so much liberation. You are not concerned about common gossip.

  319. They are gossiping about, and so what are they saying?

  320. I'm a bad boy. I'm a bad boy. No protest

  321. until we get to the judge. Who is judge? Who

  322. is judging? Who is a bad boy? And who is

  323. a nice person? It's God. It's God. And God will say,

  324. when I look at him, all that I can see

  325. is the DNA of my son, Jesus Christ. I love him. Hallelujah.

  326. But then God is rooting for us. Doing all this,

  327. rooting for us. Let's see the desire change. Hallelujah. Amen. Amen.

  328. But then as we said in verse 8, the nervousness,

  329. the uncomfortableness in the presence of God, you know, because

  330. that relationship has to be mended. And for you and

  331. I in Christ, God does that for us so we

  332. can mend. And when that is mended, hallelujah. All said

  333. and done, the people in the kingdom of God, they

  334. are nicer people than the people in the world there.

  335. If you agree with me, say a big amen. Oh,

  336. your amen is too weak. Hallelujah. Because we want the

  337. people in the world to hear. Can you say a

  338. big amen? We are nicer than them because they are niceness.

  339. God says they are like filthy rags before him. But

  340. we are our own. It is covered by the blood. Hallelujah. Amen. Amen.
