Are you one who rushes through life and barely has time to look up and simply be present with others?

I hope not because eventually you might get burned out or experience feelings of loneliness.

Or you might begin to feel disconnected from friends and family.

Good morning to you, by the way, and I'm Dan Stevens.

And Psalm 16:3 says, as for the saints of the land, they are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.

You know, I think it's a beautiful thing how the psalmist expresses the importance of the community of the saints.

In the process of becoming a church member here at FBC Wemberly, one of the things we stress is that we were never meant to go through the Christian life alone.

What a blessing that we have a community of believers to do life with.

Of course, we have our Sunday morning worship experiences where we have our large gatherings, but we also have our small groups where deep Christian growth and spiritual intimacy can take place.

It's in these smaller settings that many of us thrive because we can learn together and speak up about our questions and hurts as well as rejoice with others.

The verse I read says that the psalmist delights in being with the saints.

And my testimony is the same.

I might be a little tired on Sunday mornings if I didn't sleep well the night before, but when I come to our worship gatherings or the small group I'm a part of, I'm charged up by simply being with my brothers and sisters in Christ.

Actress and comedian Amy Poehler, who you might know from the sitcom Parks and Recreation, once said, Find a group of people who challenge and inspire you, spend a lot of time with them, and it will change your life forever.

My friends, I hope we all find this to be true when we come together for worship or in one of our many small groups.
