MGD: The Mind of Christ; His Humility

Shalom beloved and welcome to today's morning glory devotion here

at Harvest Chapel International Kumasi. We are glad that we

are able to share in fellowship in the word with

you today. Let us pray. Thank you our dear Lord

and Master. for the gift of life today. Please help

us walk with you and become more and more like

Jesus Christ. Thank you for always hearing us. In Jesus'

name we pray. Amen. Let's take our confession together from

Joshua chapter 1 the verse 8. This book of the

law shall not depart out of my mouth, but I

shall meditate in it day and night. that I may

observe to do according to all that is written in it.

For then I will make my way prosperous, and then

I will have good success. Amen. Beloved, the topic for

today's episode is the mind of Christ, His humility. The

mind of Christ, His humility. Today's episode is written by

Deacon and Deaconess Mensah. Let's take our scripture reference from

Philippians chapter 2, the verse 5. In your relationship with

Jesus Christ. Amen. The Mind of Christ His humility. Beloved,

have you ever worked extra hard on an assignment or

project and delivered it feeling fulfilled, only to be turned

down completely? How did you feel? What was your reaction?

Did you humbly go back to the drawing board? Did

you grumble and fret? Or did you rather choose to

do what you needed to do with a cheerful heart?

Earlier this year, some fellow executives and I were tasked

with drafting the 2026 year program outline. My team and

I set off to work and after three weeks of

hard work, we came out with a draft document. I

was convinced that what we had done was a great

job and that if any corrections were needed at all,

they would be minor to get the document approved. On

the appointed day, we confidently presented our work. Lo and behold,

the entire document was rejected. We were told, Go, and

come up with another one. My countenance fell like games.

Outwardly I smiled, but inside, I was sad and disappointed.

On my way home, I kept brooding over all that

had happened at the meeting and all the effort and

hard work we had put into producing that document. As

I kept reflecting and brooding about all this, one scripture

suddenly popped up in my mind and kept ringing over

and over like a gentle tap on my shoulder. Let

this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.

I knew instantly that that was the Holy Spirit. God

was not concerned about my rejected document. He was concerned

about my heart. And he was calling me to check

my humility barometer. Simply put, beloved, to have the mind

of Christ implies being Christ-like, having his attitude, and acting

and thinking the way he thought. To have the mind

of Christ means we constantly have to ask ourselves these

questions in every situation we find ourselves. Would Jesus have

said this? Would Jesus have thought or acted in this manner?

Philippians 2 spells out some of the key attributes of Christ.

which when practiced can help us to become like Him. Beloved,

the first attribute we must look at is Christ's humility.

Humility is explained as a state of being free from

pride and arrogance, and it is characterized by having an accurate,

modest assessment of our own importance and abilities. Philippians 2

Philippians 2:6–8

verse 6 to 8 says, Jesus, who being in the

form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal

with God, but made himself of no reputation, and took

upon him the form of a servant, and was made

in the likeness of men, and being found in fashion

as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death.

even the death of the cross. Jesus had every right

to remain glorious. He was equal with God. He had

angels at his command. Yet, he chose to lay it

all down. He did not cling to his title, his rights,

or his reputation. He humbled and obeyed the Father to

the very end. even to a shameful death on the

cross without grumbling or protesting. If Jesus, the Son of God,

could humble himself like this, then we have no option

but to imitate his humility. Peter, James and John were

professional fishermen who had fished all their lifetimes. They once

went out to fish and toiled all night on the

lake and caught nothing. While washing their nets with so

much frustration and disappointment, Jesus, the son of a professional carpenter,

came and said, Lunge out into the deep and let

down your net for a catch. Humanly speaking, Peter had

every reason to say, Master, With all due respect, you

don't know fishing like we do. We have tried all

our skills and used our experience. What you are saying

will not work. But humility taught him a better response.

He said, Master, we have toiled all night and have

taken nothing. Nevertheless, act thy word. I will let the

net down. All Peter was saying was, even though it

doesn't make sense to me, I will do it because

the master said so. And because Peter obeyed, he caught

an overflowing multitude of fish. Beloved, humility makes us teachable.

When we are humble, We do not see correction as

an attack or offense. We see it as a pruning

process which eventually yields good fruits. The Bible says God

resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. The

humble often find grace to start or to try again. Beloved,

perhaps God allowed a rejection a delay or go and

do it again in your life, not to embarrass or

to punish you, but to help you assess your level

of humility as a child of God and to bring

you to a stage where all your responses will become, yes, Lord,

at thy word, I will obey. Beloved, May the grace

of God come upon us as we decide to stay

humble always. Amen. Let's kindly take our memory verse for

name of Jesus, thank you for loving us enough to

correct us. Forgive us for all the times we allowed

pride and offense to take root when we were corrected. Lord,

we put on the mind of Christ today, a humble mind.

Give us grace to see. Nevertheless, at thy word, I

will go again. In Jesus' mighty name. Amen. Beloved, God
