Psalm 103 - Pastor Kyle Weeks - August 30th, 2026

Amen.

If you have a Bible, go ahead and grab it and turn to Psalm 103.

We are going to continue in our series of the book of Psalms, but this is the last praise psalm that we will look at, a psalm that is strictly a psalm of praise to the Lord, and we'll move throughout the rest of the different types of psalms that we see in the book of Psalms.

And so this morning we're going to look at Psalm 103.

Psalm 103 is where we're going to be this morning.

If you're able and willing, would you stand with me in honor of reading God's word?

We are going to start in verse 1 and go down to verse 19, but we'll cover all 22 verses today.

This is the word of the Lord.

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, and who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good, so that your youth is renewed like the eagles.

The Lord works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed.

He has made known his ways, or he made known his ways to Moses, his acts to the people of Israel.

The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever.

He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.

For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love towards those who fear him.

As far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.

As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him, for he knows our frame.

He remembers that we are dust.

As for man, his days are like grass.

He flourishes like a flower of the field, for the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and its place knows it no more.

But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting, who ha on those who fear him and his righteousness to his ch to children's children, to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments.

The Lord has established his throne in the heavens and his kingdom rules over all.

Indestructible.

But God, would you remind us this morning that we are nothing without you?

And would you remind us of all the benefits that we have in you?

May we take our eyes off of our current circumstances, and Father, may we fix our eyes on you who is over every circumstance that we find ourselves in.

Father, as David prays in this psalm, I pray, Father, that you would stir our hearts and affections for you.

As David reminds himself this morning, I pray that you would remind us in your word how great you are and how greatly you are to be praised.

May we leave here today with a greater a greater reminder of your goodness, your faithfulness, your love and mercy, and may that fuel a heart of praise that will continue for throughout the rest of our days.

God be with me, give me the words to say, let it be your words and not mine.

Speak to your church this morning.

I pray in Jesus' name.

You may be seated.

Oftentimes, um we we are people uh that that forget.

Um either we're people that forget or we're people that don't have enough to remember to call upon uh when it comes to certain things.

I remember um as a kid growing up, um the the biggest family issue that we had whenever I was a young kid was that my grandfather had Parkinson's disease.

And um that disease um had taken over all of his body and uh he was starting to get dementia, but back then they did not recognize that it was Lewy body dementia.

They just thought it was just regular dementia.

And so my grandfather goes in for an exploratory surgery back in 1999 uh to try to um help curb his Parkinson's a little bit with a device that would start in the brain, work its way to the heart.

You would cross over it, uh, it would cause the Parkinson's to stop so he could stop shaking um enough to drink a drink or sign his name on a on a check.

I would always remember um whenever I talk about my grandfather, the sound that I remember is his plastic cup that he had, you know, like the uncle's side teacup.

Uh he had one of those tall plastic cups, it was blue.

Uh there would be crushed ice in it and a coke.

And that was his drink.

And I can remember the sound of that ice shaking around in that cup.

And that's what I remember from my grandfather.

That's about it, though.

He got he went to the surgery when I was six years old.

Uh, the surgery was not successful.

Um, that area of the brain that they worked on was the area of the brain where that Louis body dementia was setting in.

And a year later, my grandfather had lost his mind.

He had lost his ability to communicate, to do anything for himself, to feed himself, to clothe himself, to get up.

And he stayed in a hospital bed like that for 12 years until he passed away when I was 19.

And when he died, or even before then, but really when he died, um, everybody was going around telling stories of what they remember about him and how he was and all of these things, and everybody kind of looks at me, and I just kind of sat there and was like, I don't have, I don't have many memories.

You guys do.

And I and so I would say, tell me about Papa.

What was he like?

Tell me about his character, what was he like, what was his mannerisms, and then tell me about uh what he did.

Oftentimes when we when we have those moments of remembering someone we love, we remember who they are and we remember what they have done.

Um when David is finds himself in a moment where uh he has forgotten um all the benefits of the Lord and and he's trying to stir his affections back up for the Lord, he doesn't go anywhere further than remembering who God is and what God has done.

That is the the main element of worship of the Lord is we worship the Lord based on who he is and what he has done.

That's the main idea that I want you to see from this passage.

The worship of the Lord is based on who he is and what he has done.

If you remember two weeks ago we looked at this storm that was coming up over the Mediterranean and how this storm was showing the majesty and power and splendor of God, it was speaking to his character and his nature and how majestic he is.

Um that that's referring to the Lord's, uh who the Lord is.

But when we look further into that and we look no further than his revealed word that we have in Scripture, we see both who he is, but also what he has done.

And both of those things are not meant to be met with just some kind of intellectual agreement.

It's not meant to be met with with some um just feelings of of feeling good inside.

That is meant to elicit within us and to prompt us by the stirring of our affections to worship the Lord.

So, quick question.

Psalm 103.

I'm reading it now.

If you notice while I was reading it, I started to, you know, I get ahead of myself.

I'm ADD and I'm and I'm dyslexic sometimes, and so that's just, I mean, that's the sinful nature, right?

Um, but as I'm reading it, you could tell that there's there's some inflection, there's some going.

Did you do that yourself?

Were you sitting there like, yeah, say it again, keep going.

That's what the word of God is supposed to do, because that is what the word of God does.

It reminds us of who the Lord is, it reminds us what the Lord has done, and it is supposed to elicit within us a response of worship of the Lord.

Because in Psalm 103, we see who the Lord is and what he has done.

Psalm 103 starts with, Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

Psalm 103 is a psalm of praise.

To bless, as one pastor would say, means to say good things about the Lord in a spirit of admiration and gratitude and wonder.

So David prods himself to bless the Lord.

He prods his soul, bless the Lord, and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

So he says to himself, self, soul, bless the Lord, speak of his wonders and tell of his greatness.

This is our job.

This is our response to his word as his children and as people created in his image.

This is what we were created to do, to worship the Lord.

So David is in prompting himself to do just that.

In this Psalm, David is cataloging, as one commentator said, the goodness of God, enumerating his blessings, least in a moment of depression or backsliding, he should forget the source of his prosperity and take God's grace for granted.

The first thing that I want you to see in the first two verses that we find, it is God's nature is enough to elicit praise from his people.

We go back to Psalm 29 and we see uh this this uh this storm that has come upon.

But look at the beginning of this Psalm.

Bless the Lord and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

If you're in student ministry this week, we talked about that word holy, right?

That word means what?

Set apart.

There we go.

Someone listen, all right?

That word means set apart.

Um, that God is so set apart, he is so vastly different than any of us.

And Isaiah realizes that when he stands before the Lord in his vision and sees the Lord in his holiness and splendor, the first thing Isaiah realizes is we are not like each other.

That the Lord is different, he is set apart, and he is so holy that the only time in Scripture that a characteristic of God is given the superlative degree that he is holy, holy, holy, is when it comes to the nature of God's holiness.

So David says, Bless the Lord and all my oh my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

He is so set apart, he is so different, and yet that makes him so worthy of worship that David says, All that is within me, I should bless the Lord.

Remember, bless the more Lord means to say good things, a spirit of admiration and a spirit of gratitude and wonder.

Bless the Lord for all that he's done, for who he is, for his work, remembering his benefits.

You and I are to bless the Lord.

In layman's terms.

Who God is is enough to make you sing songs of praise and shout glory.

Who God is.

Let's not even go to what God has done yet.

He David hasn't, so let's not.

Who God is alone is enough to should be enough to make you shout glory in honor to his name because of who he is.

David says, All that is within me then should be what le what should be praising the Lord.

All that is within me.

Jonathan Edwards would put it this way: he he does not see how there is any way that someone could worship the Lord without the affections being stirred.

All that is within us should praise the Lord.

Our heart, oh I said heart, our mind first, what we know about the Lord and his goodness should then lead to our heart and overwhelming emotion, and with all that we are and all of our beings should then lead to praise the Lord.

This is what David calls us to do.

What a rebuke.

What a rebuke to what passes in church today as far as praise.

To sing the good the good things of God with a scowl on your face.

To refuse to sing about the goodness of God because it's not the song that you like.

His nature is enough to elicit praise from his people, and it doesn't matter if it's set to a 4-4 time signature, a two-four time signature, a six-eight time signature, or it's in a minor key.

It doesn't matter if it's 144 beats a minute or it is 42.

Are we singing the goodness of God and the character and nature of who he is?

Then we all should, with one loud voice and all that we are, bless and praise his holy name.

Bless his holy name with all that we are.

Verse 2 bless the Lord, O my soul.

And then this is when David said, And forget not all his benefits.

Forget not all that God has done.

So now we can go from who he is and his nature to what his nature then leads to, which is his works, and bless all of his works that he has done.

If you notice, that's this is where the all's start.

It starts with all that is within us to bless his holy name, and we should bless his holy name based on all of his benefits, all that God has done for us.

The second thing that I want you to see when we get to this passage, and you'll see this more clearly as we go on, but a satisfied heart is one who joyfully remembers the work the Lord has done on their behalf.

We talked about that, we talked about the word satisfied.

That's what that's what our world looks like.

We look for satisfaction in a lot of different things.

Uh, it's about to come up where your satisfaction is going to be based on if 11 guys can be on a field together and play a game the right way and win.

And Florida State fans in here, I'll tell you, you did it last night.

Didn't look pretty, but it happened.

But but but but the but that's what we look at for we look at things like that for satisfaction.

You look in relationships for satisfaction, you look at money for satisfaction, you look at jobs for satisfaction, you look at preferences for satisfaction.

All of us in here look for things that satisfy us in our life, but a satisfied heart, one that is truly satisfied, is one who joyfully remembers the work the Lord has done on their behalf.

Look at verse three.

Who forgives all your iniquity and who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, and who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with goods so that your youth is renewed like the eagles.

He alone satisfied.

Soul satisfaction in the Lord is the catalyst of worship unto the Lord.

And he who satisfies everything for us and has the authority to satisfy all that we are is God alone.

But if you remember, David is encouraging himself.

He's stirring himself up to worship the Lord, and he said, Worship the Lord and praise his holy name on his nature, but also forget not all his benefits.

David is trying to remind himself, as we read, there are moments and times and seasons of struggle, seasons of depression, things of seasons of anxiety, that seasons of want, that seasons of death, seasons of sickness, all of these things that we find ourselves.

And in those moments, our first response is not to worship.

What David is doing is saying, in these moments that I know my first response is not to, then I need to draw up from the well of the goodness of God the benefits that I have in him, so that it would lead me to not only forget his benefits, but it would lead me to worship him.

Basically, what David is doing here is what you and I still sometimes do.

And David's going back to the highlight reel to remember what God has done.

Don't you wish you could have a highlight reel of life?

Now, I didn't say a full recording because we know there's some chapters we'd like to skip.

But a highlight reel of life that would just be all the times that God has been faithful, that God has worked, all the times that God has blessed and God has been good and God has brought you out of different things.

The best chapter, the best highlight would be the moment that God uh was the most faithful to you and taking you from uh a person dead in trespasses and sin and making you alive together with him.

But don't you wish you could have a highlight reel of those things that you could just plug, turn on your phone, plug in the TV, and just watch?

Well, we don't have that.

It doesn't come that easy.

What David has to do is go within himself to encourage and prod himself through the work of the Spirit to remember those things.

And those moments of despair, and those moments of depression, and those moments of anxiety, that they don't then dictate the worship of the Lord, but God's faithfulness and character then dictates the worship of the Lord.

As Charles Purgeon would say, Come, my soul, wake up, bestir thyself.

You have a great work to do, such work as angels do forever and ever before the throne of God.

Let no power or faculty exempt itself from divine service.

Come, my memory, my will, my judgment, my intellect, my heart, all that is in me be stirred up by his holy name to magnify and bless him.

For the music must begin deep down in the center of my being, and it must be myself, my very self, that praises God.

Nobody can praise God for you.

Nobody can remind you of his goodness if you aren't willing to be reminded.

You and I, to worship the Lord, must dig down deep into our souls and come and bring our memory back to the truth when our feelings take our mind on a highway of lies, to bring our minds back to the truth and knowing that God has been faithful, He has been good, and there are there is great benefit in following and walking with Him.

Now, the greatest work that we can first start with is the one that should be the easiest, and that is the work of salvation.

The greatest blessing that the Lord has given you, and the greatest benefit that he has given you is he has given you the ability to be called children of God through the person and work of Jesus Christ.

If there is nothing else that God did for you and I, that is enough to lead us to praise him for the rest of our lives because the salvation that he has provided is the thing that has satisfied our souls the most.

Taking us from despair and sin to hope and salvation in Christ Jesus.

A heart that is satisfied in the Lord is stirred up by remembering the benefits of the Lord.

So he says, Verse 4, verse 3, who forgives all your iniquity.

Let's not pass over that one.

You and I aren't here, and we don't have the opportunity for soul satisfaction or overwhelming joy if there is no forgiveness of iniquity.

And the only way that iniquity could be forgiven is if there is a shedding of blood.

And someone had to shed their blood, and that was Christ Jesus on the cross, shed his blood so that you could have salvation in him, that he would pay the penalty for your sin that you owed.

So the greatest benefit, the first one that David uh reminds himself is who forgives you of your iniquity.

Uh, there's some iniquity that David needed forgiving of.

Do you remember that?

There's some iniquity.

You might sit back and go, Well, listen, I got A lot of iniquity.

Listen, yours isn't as documented as David's was.

And David is writing this post Bathsheba, and he's saying, Who forgives all your iniquity?

Who heals all your diseases?

Now, this is going back to remembering how the Lord worked within the people of Israel as they're leaving Exodus, because we know there are times where God does not always heal on this side of heaven.

But here's what we do know uh He is healing, He is in the healing business.

It's either going to be temporal or eternal, but it's gonna happen one or the other.

And so the Lord forgives our iniquities, who works within us and brings us to health either here or eternal health with him, who redeems your life from the pit because that was its destination apart from Christ Jesus.

If Psalm 23 tells us about the shepherd, Psalm 103 tells us what the shepherd does.

What the shepherd has done, what Jesus has done, who has redeemed your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy.

Steadfast love.

It is consistent, it perseveres, it is constant, right?

A steadfast love and mercy.

That is what you have received in Christ Jesus.

That is the work that God has done for you.

Verse 5 who satisfies you with good, so that your youth is renewed like the eagles.

This understanding of good is the same thing that we see in Romans chapter 8, verse 28.

Romans 8:28

That God works good for all of those who love him or called according to his purpose.

The good there is not a subjective good, it is an objective good.

And objectively, the good that you need in your life is more of the Lord.

More of his benefit, more of his love, more of his mercy, uh, more of his work in your life.

And so what this says is his work satisfies your heart.

If you're unsatisfied in the Lord, then you got amnesia and you have forgotten all that the Lord has done.

And you know what?

All of us have moments of spiritual amnesia from time to time, especially when we go from seasons where God is just blessing to seasons where now we've hit some struggle, we we've hit some unwanted territory, we've hit some hard places.

What do we do now?

What we do is we remind our soul, not listening to our thoughts and feelings and emotion, because the heart is deceptively wicked, who can understand it?

But allow the spirit to remind us of all of the benefits of God.

And the first thing that those benefits do is start to satisfy a heart that that is prone to wander.

Isn't that what the hymnrinder said?

Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, prone to leave the God I love.

That's a heart that doesn't want to wander, but just finds itself unhelpingly wandering.

So what David is saying here is all of these benefits satisfy me with good, and then it gives me strength like young eagles to keep moving forward, to persevere.

If you're tired, remember the Lord.

Remember his goodness and his faithfulness.

If you're weary, remember the benefits of God.

If you're struggling, remember the benefits of God.

It's like we say, if you feel like your toil is in vain, remind yourself of all that you have in Christ Jesus and watch the work of the Spirit satisfy your heart more than any temporal place, status, position, or person ever could.

We just saying, rejoice in the Lord now and always, tell of the good he has done.

Worship the Lord to remember all of the joy yet to come, the hope that burns within us, the dark cannot destroy, with praise that's never ending.

We say again, rejoice.

You know what else rejoicing in the Lord and worshiping the Lord as we remember all that he's done does?

It points us to the place where we will forever get to worship the Lord, where we will not forget all his benefits and his nature because we will be standing before him face to face.

Satisfaction in the Lord takes our eyes off the temporal and puts our eyes on the eternal.

And when our eyes are put on the eternal, our worship then transforms to being a worship that reminds us of all of God's goodness and his benefits, but then reminds us of the ultimate benefit of being a child of God and the salvation that we have received, which is what?

Eternal life.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is what?

Eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

Looking to that future glory with Him.

That's why Paul says in Romans 8, though we have all these struggles and there's things here that takes our mind away and that that cause this suffering that goes on, we wait for our hope with patience, knowing that there is one day that he will split the eastern sky or he will call us home, where we get to go be with him for all of eternity, where our worship will never cease, because we we get to stand as one of the beneficiaries of his salvation and look at our benefactor who has blessed us with every good blessing that we have received in Christ Jesus, as Ephesians chapter 1 tells us.

Now, you might be sitting here and going, What if I don't know all of his benefits?

What if I for what if I forget?

Well, David didn't just stop and said, Hey, remember all that he's done and named a few.

Let's go back and look really quickly at verse six.

The Lord works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed.

He has made no his ways to Moses and to the people of Israel.

The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

Stop.

We'll keep going.

Here's what he does He says, The Lord works righteousness and justice for all who's oppressed.

Don't believe me.

Go back to Moses and look what happened with the people of Israel and how God revealed himself to Moses.

But don't just think about how they wandered in the wilderness.

Think about how God uh wrote told them who he was in Deuteronomy uh verse 30, chapter 34, verse 6, that says, The Lord passed before Moses and proclaimed the Lord, the Lord, a merciful God and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.

Exodus 34, I'm sorry, verse 6.

This is the the benefits of God and all that he has done.

So the third point I want you to see this morning.

The word of God points us to God's goodness in all the benefits of being his children.

If you're sitting here and going, well, what if I don't remember the benefits of God?

How then do I do it?

What if I just can't stir it up within my own self?

Okay, then go to the revealed word of God where he tells you all of the benefits that he has blessed you with.

If your heart is struggling to find satisfaction in the Lord, then turn to his word.

Immerse yourself in the scriptures to see all that the Lord offers to his children and has done on behalf of his children.

The same way where I'm like, well, what if I don't have memories of Papa?

What if I don't have things I can go back to?

Well, then go to the accounts of who he is and what he's done to pull from there.

And the account of the Lord and the Lord Jesus Christ that we have for our lives is holy scripture.

Go there and find what his word says.

His word that again continues in verse 9, it says, He will not always chide, he will not always discipline.

His discipline is temporary for his children.

He teaches, but he does not overwhelm.

He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever.

In those moments, in those storms, you feel like that it is a storm of judgment.

This is happening because the Lord is teaching me something.

Know that that storm, just like every other storm you've ever gone through in life, has an endpoint.

And his anger is not forever.

Romans chapter 5, verse 9 tells us, Since therefore we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.

Romans 5:9

Verse 10, he does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.

Another great benefit of God is he does not keep score, and you do not have a running total of how much the Lord blesses you based on uh how much sin you have committed.

The duality uh of following after Jesus is seeking to be more like Jesus while also struggling with sin that makes you not like Jesus.

But the good news is that the grace of God is not based on your performance, it is based on His propitiation, his sacrifice.

That is enough to praise the Lord for because the Lord is not like a teacher that sits back and goes, Well, you just don't have enough credit to be able to benefit from all of these things.

The Lord says, No, your credit has been given to you.

Righteousness has been accredited to you because of the work of Jesus.

And so it is no longer your sin that is now uh what separates you from God.

It is his righteousness that has brought you close to God.

For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is the steadfast love of the Lord to those who fear him.

One of the greatest blessings of God is that we didn't receive from God what we deserve, but we rather receive something from God that we didn't deserve and didn't earn.

And it is based on his steadfast love that is greater than anything you can ever imagine.

Anything that you could possibly fathom, it is so great that the Lord can save any person.

And you and I are proof positive of that.

Verse 12, as far as the east is from the west, so far does the Lord remove our transgressions.

That's how, under this new covenant that Jeremiah tells us, where he will remember their sins no more, Paul can say, because of what Jesus has done in Romans chapter 8, verse 1, there is now therefore no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Romans 8:1

Amen.

Praise the Lord for that.

That's a work that the Lord has done on your behalf, that you can benefit, but also every single child of God gets to lay claim to and benefit from.

That is a benefit of the Lord that should elicit praise from his people.

Because as a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows to pat compassion to those who fear him, for he knows our frame and he remembers that we are dust.

While we were yet sinners, Christ died.

Christ knew every sin you would commit, past, present, and future, and still came and lived and died on your behalf.

Praise the Lord.

You know what David's trying to say?

Uh I have no control, and I have there's nothing that I can do with any of this.

None of this is because I'm awesome, none of this is because I deserve it, none of this is because I'm great.

You're not alive today because you've done the right things, and that's why you're alive today.

You can still do the right things and die in a car accident.

You're alive today because it's the grace of God.

You're alive today, you're in this room right now because God has so preordained it to be so.

What will your response be to that blessing that the Lord has you, even given breath in your lungs?

Verse 17.

But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him and his righteousness to his to children's children, to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments, the Lord has established his thrones in the heaven, and his kingdom rules over all.

For his children who seek to obey him and follow after him, these blessings are given to.

And this salvation that he has received is forever.

Verse 17 it is from everlasting to everlasting.

It's been around for forever, and it'll be around for forever.

This is the benefits of God.

This is why we sing in Christ alone, my hope is found.

He is my light, my strength, my song.

So let me ask you this.

After all of this, is your heart satisfied in the Lord?

Is who he is and what he has done enough to satisfy your heart to elicit, to bring him praise?

If not, your problem is much bigger than satisfaction.

My question would simply be, what do you think you are saved by, and what do you think you were saved for?

You are saved by no good work of your own, but all of the work and the benefit that God has done on your behalf.

And you were not saved to just sit in a seat and scowl and do nothing.

You were saved to then respond and worship to the Lord because of what he has done for you in Christ Jesus.

A takeaway that I want you to take home.

Remember, this application for all of this is this a life that is lived to the glory of God is one that is satisfied in God, both in who he is and what he has done.

A life that is lived to the glory of God, which is how all of us are to live, right?

The chief end of man is to glorify God and to enjoy him forever.

That's what we that's the confession that we uh hold to, that is a confession of old.

This is what we know we are to do.

A life that is lived to glorify God is one that is satisfied in God.

Their satisfaction is found in him, in him, in his nature, and in him in his work.

Because for all of eternity, forever and ever, he will be praised and he will satisfy all.

Verse 20 says, Bless the Lord, oh you his angels, you mighty ones who do his word, obeying the voice uh voice of his word.

Bless the Lord, all his hosts, his ministers who do his will, bless the Lord, all his works, and all places of his dominion.

Bless the Lord, O my soul.

On earth, satisfied, bless the Lord.

In heaven, eternally satisfied, will bless the Lord.

A heart that finds satisfaction in God is one that intentionally chooses to find it there.

And they find it in his nature, his character, and his work.

So the question for you this morning is are you satisfied in the Lord?

And if not, would you allow the Spirit to stir your affection?

Now I know when I start talking about stir your affection, you're going, well, listen, I'm not one of those that stands up and raises my hand and does all I'm not asking about that.

But the same way you get excited for the things of life, you should be equally or more excited for the things of God.

So what I'm saying is, are you satisfied in the Lord to where just hearing the benefits of God leads you to want to worship in the Lord, to sing praise, to tell others about him, to talk about his good works with others, to stir up the affection of others with how good he has been in your life and as you have seen him in scripture.

Is that the cry of your heart?

And are you satisfied in the Lord?

Over the next few moments, we're gonna respond to the word of God, and we're gonna sing songs of praise.

We're gonna have a time of response to this word.

And I want you to ask yourself this question Is my soul satisfied in blessing the Lord?

And if not, would you then, in a cry of repentance and conviction, cry out to the Lord and say, Oh Lord, satisfy my soul with your good things so that I might bless you at all times.

If you're in here this morning, you're saying, uh, my whole, my soul's not satisfied.

I'm looking for satisfaction, but it's not found in the Lord.

Let me just give you a clear gospel message.

Um, it'll never be satisfied in anything else, and that's why the Lord sent his son to offer a free gift of salvation to sinners who desperately needed atonement for sin.

Your sin not only separates you from God, but it separates you from the benefits of God.

And there is no soul satisfaction for anyone that is seeking their own way, running in their own path in a direction of just sin.

But the Bible says that for all who believe, they get the privilege to be called children of God, to have access to a Father who intimately knows them and are blessed with those good gifts.

Joy, love, peace, all of those things that can be found in Christ Jesus.

Would you repent from your sin and trust in Jesus?

That is all the gospel requires, all the free gift of God requires is repentance and belief.

If you are in here this morning and you have never done that, would you do that this morning?

Would you repent and believe the gospel that you are a sinner in need of a savior?

If you are in here this morning and say, Well, I have repented and I have believed that Jesus is Lord and He did die and raise again so that I could have life, then let me ask you this: Is it leading to obedience?

Is it leading you to follow after the Lord?

And is it leading for your heart to be fully satisfied in him?

Over the next few moments, would you pray and ask the Lord, God, would you satisfy my heart?

God, would you work in my heart and would I bless your name at all times?
