  8. us each and every Monday to Friday at 2 p.m.

  10. God richly bless you.

  11. And you say....

  12. Welcome to Logos Rima Hour with God's servant, Rev.

  13. Dr.

  14. Joseph Baalbin, Head Pastor of Harvest Chapel International Kumasi. And now,

  15. to today's message.

  16. Hallelujah. Amen. So you are all warmly welcome. Order in giving. Hallelujah.

  17. From Deuteronomy chapter 8. Concerning the pursuit of either the

    Deuteronomy 8 chapter mention

  18. spirit of Mammon or God. Hallelujah. Simple as that. Hallelujah.

  19. Verse 7. Let's do 7. He said for the Lord

  20. your God. So we'll do 7, 8, 9, 10. Let's

  21. love them. Now listen. For the Lord your God is

  22. bringing you into what? A good land. A land of

  23. brooks of water. of fountains and springs flowing out in

  24. the valleys and hills, a land of wheat and barley,

  25. of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of

  26. olive trees and honey, a land in which you will

  27. eat bread without scarcity, in which you will lack nothing,

  28. a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose

  29. hills you can dig copper. And you shall eat and

  30. be full, and you shall bless the Lord your God

  31. for the good land he has given you. What do

  32. you use the billions for? And the people who make

  33. their billions, how do they make it? Look at this.

  34. Now it's tech, tech, tech, tech. Over here, it sounds

  35. like agrarian. That's how they were making their money in

  36. those days. Covet. And God says that I'm taking you

  37. there and I'm going to bring you into wealth. Amen.

  38. So if we trust and obey God, he will bring

  39. us into a state and place of great wealth and reward.

  40. He owns it all. And Hebrews 11, 6 says that what?

  41. They that come must believe that he is and that

  42. he is a rewarder. Of them that diligently seek him,

  43. he is a rewarder. And he has told us where

  44. he's taking us. Not just in this life. This is

  45. a transit point. to what he has planned for us

  46. in the life hereafter. Hallelujah. So the blessings that God

  47. has planned for us, it will more than compensate, now

  48. listen to that, for any hardship we go through, if

  49. we just trust and follow on. God will compensate you.

  50. Turn to someone and say, God will compensate you. Amen. Hallelujah. Amen.

  51. Now let's go to 11. So we are picking the lessons.

  52. We won't finish. Now, listen now. It's a warning, isn't it?

  53. Take care lest you forget the Lord your God by

  54. not keeping his commandments and his rules and his statutes,

  55. which I command you today. You see the repetitiveness. We

  56. are back again to the word, the instructions that you give,

  57. the logos and the rhema, the Holy Spirit in us.

  58. Read your Bible every day. It will If you like,

  59. he will always remind us of the words that he

  60. has taught us in private. When we come into the open,

  61. he will edge us on to obey the truths, to

  62. put them into practice so we can profit. Hallelujah. The

  63. word again, hallelujah. And so the warning is to stay

  64. humble and focused. How? He says, forget everything. Don't forget

  65. the Lord, your God. Hallelujah. Amen. Why? Because he knows

  66. that we will get anxious. We get anxious. How are

  67. we able to forget him? Or when are we tempted

  68. most to forget the Lord? When we get anxious about

  69. the curse of this life, what we shall eat, drink, wear, sleep,

  70. and all the other comforts of life that make us

  71. forget about God and then go chasing after the spirit

  72. or the God of my mind. Amen. Hallelujah. So God

  73. tries to address it. He knows that when we go

  74. for the chasing after money, he knows just what we

  75. want to use the money for. But then once again,

  76. he keeps on hammering the word, my word, read my word.

  77. We'll come to that in a moment. Read my word.

  78. Never forget that you and I, we are owned by God. Hallelujah.

  79. We are his creation. We are his stewards. We are

  80. his sheep. And if we are his sheep, by default,

  81. we are supposed to be dependent on him. And he

  82. is our source and our provider. Which is exactly what

  83. David says in Psalm 23. The Lord is my shepherd.

  84. And that is why he says, I shall not want. Amen. Hallelujah.

  85. And the surest way to get that message is to

  86. walk in obedience. Hallelujah. And the surest way to get

  87. that message It's a walk in obedience. Hallelujah. Remember what

  88. Jesus said? He said, my sheep know my voice and

  89. they do what? They follow me. My sheep, they know

  90. my voice and they follow me. More like if you

  91. follow me and allow him to be our shepherd and

  92. our guide, he will bring us into wealth. Say amen.

  93. The food that we need, the clothing that we need,

  94. the shelter, the shoes, the health and the vitality, they

  95. are provisions that God, if you like, has prepared them

  96. for us. Hallelujah. And has guaranteed us. Amen. Hallelujah. And

  97. we need to remember that God is a planner. Turn

  98. to somebody and say, God is a planner. Turn to

  99. somebody and say, God has planned your life for you. Amen. Hallelujah.

  100. So God has planned our lives and the journey for us,

  101. just as he did for Israel. Now in Exodus 13,

    Exodus 13:17

  102. verse 17, let's listen to what God said. The Bible says,

  103. He said, Hello? Hello? So what this verse is trying

  104. to let us do, and the point I want to

  105. bring forcefully is that God planned the wilderness journey for them. Hello?

  106. God planned the terrain to the promised land to be

  107. through the wilderness. Wow. Hallelujah. So whatever you are going

  108. through now, you want to agree that God has planned it?

  109. I'm not hearing anything. Hallelujah. Amen. Amen. So what is

  110. unfolding in your life is intentional. Rise up! Once you understand,

  111. like he said, it's a testing of our hearts. Whether

  112. we're going to give up on him and go chasing

  113. after the spirit of Mammon. And we will follow in

  114. obedience and in faith. Hallelujah. Amen. God said that the

  115. shorter route could make them panic at the sight of war.

  116. But then we are seeing that some of the lessons,

  117. critical lessons, that we need to know before we get

  118. to the other side. And these were all lessons that

  119. were learned in the wilderness before they go to the

  120. promised land. And it's the same thing. Critical lessons that

  121. we need to learn before we get to heaven. Discipline, humility, faith, trust, obedience, character, character.

  122. A Christian without character, charisma alone, no. Satan has no character. Amen.

  123. So if you go for charisma, no character, you want

  124. to follow Satan's pathway. We'll come to the lessons about

  125. the pride very soon. Hallelujah. Remember, it's character. The discipline

  126. is character. When we are fasting and it's all about character.

  127. When God leads us through the pathways, you know, of

  128. fasting and praying and all the things that we are

  129. crying out. And day one, we were hoping that God

  130. would do it. He didn't do it. And then day two,

  131. we come again. And by faith, we come again. And

  132. God will say, come again. And we come. He's training us.

  133. He's training us. He's disciplining us. How to be able

  134. to master faith. and obedience, and trust, and hope. Vital

  135. lessons before we get there. Hallelujah. Never ever forget that

  136. God is in full control of your life as a believer. Hallelujah.

  137. If only we will trust and obey and follow God. Hallelujah. Amen.

  138. But one of the things that will help us so

  139. that we'll never forget as we follow him It's the

  140. story of the Bible. Now, let me make this point.

  141. Many of us shy away from reading the Bible because

  142. maybe when we hear it, the Bible is God's commandments.

  143. And none of us, nobody here likes commandments. When we

  144. hear commandments, hey, I command you, then we cringe back.

  145. Commandment means that you are compelling me to do something

  146. against my will. So sometimes when we hear the word

  147. of God, like the commandments of the Lord, the statutes,

  148. the precepts, then it's like, no, no, no, no. So

  149. a lot of us, when I go into the Bible,

  150. I'm going to see do's and don'ts. And so we

  151. never are able to come to hear what God has

  152. to say in the Bible. Hallelujah. But the Bible is

  153. not just about commandments. It is about the great love

  154. story of God. Hallelujah. Hidden or embedded in In the

  155. commandments of God. I'm saying this because it's so easy.

  156. You realize that God keeps on repeating it again and

  157. again and again. Because immediately you start reading the word

  158. of God. You know, I've come to love the Bible

  159. because I think I've mentioned this before. One of my

  160. first Bibles that I bought for myself was a paperback Bible.

  161. The New King James Version. It was paperback. Hallelujah. And

  162. I like reading the Bible like a storybook. It's very helpful.

  163. Just read it. Some of them, just like any storybook,

  164. when you find it, just leave it over. Go to

  165. the sweeter parts that you like. Hallelujah. Amen. So when

  166. you hear this, and he begot, and he begot, and

  167. he begot, you, for starters, just read. Go, go, go.

  168. And then when they are giving the genealogies, and then

  169. it's like, read it like a story. It's a love letter. Hallelujah.

  170. Because if you don't understand, it's very difficult to follow. Amen. Hallelujah.

  171. It's an amazing life story. If only in childlike trust

  172. and faith and in innocence, we'll just read the word

  173. for the story of the Bible for ourselves and listen

  174. to the voice of God and all the good plans

  175. he has in store for us. Say amen. You see,

  176. the Bible says that faith comes by hearing, hearing the

  177. word of God. And I'm saying that the word of

  178. God is not all commandment. Thou shalt do this, thou

  179. shalt do that, thou shalt do that. No, it's the

  180. story of what God planned to do. Like we said,

  181. what made him or made our world go off course.

  182. What he has done temporarily to bring it back on course.

  183. And what he will eventually do to bring total healing

  184. and the fixing of the problem of our world. Hallelujah.

  185. And the Bible is the first to make us understand

  186. that you and I find ourselves in a very tough world.

  187. God doesn't deny it. The Bible doesn't deny it. So

  188. God knows what we are going through. God knows that

  189. we want the wealth. But as I said, his argument

  190. is that what do you want the wealth for? Why

  191. do you want to go chasing after the spirit of

  192. my mom? Can you trust me? Can you allow me

  193. to guide you? Can you allow me to lead you

  194. through chapter number one of your lives and bring you

  195. to chapter two? Because ultimately the message to the New

  196. Testament believer or child of God, it is not about

  197. this life. Apostle Paul says, look, if all in all

  198. your life and in all your following and chasing after God,

  199. it is about this life. He says, then you are

  200. very miserable. It means that you have not understood the

  201. story of the Bible. Amen. That's why he says that.

  202. So he brings us back to the word, the word,

  203. the word, the word, the word. The understanding. Hallelujah. So

  204. the word, it is his last will and testament of

  205. Jesus Christ before going to the cross. Hallelujah. And over

  206. there you find him saying, What I like is John 17, 24.

  207. Can I read? It says, Father, I desire that they

  208. also whom you gave me may be with me where

  209. I am, that they may behold my glory which you

  210. have given me, for you love me before the foundation

  211. of the world. This is Jesus' last prayer for the church.

  212. Listen to him. That's why I say the whole story

  213. of the Bible. Read it so that you will know that.

  214. It says, Father, I desire that they also whom you

  215. gave me may be with me where I am, that

  216. they may behold my glory which you have given me,

  217. for you loved me before the foundation of the world. Hallelujah.

  218. Turn to somebody and ask that person, do you believe

  219. in all that the Bible says? Give that person an answer. Hallelujah. Amen.

  220. But my answer is absolutely hallelujah. Now get this. You

  221. will not be qualified as a child of God if

  222. you don't believe some portions of the Bible. That's hard.

  223. You will not be qualified as a child of God

  224. if you don't believe some portions of the Bible. That's

  225. why you must believe all. Amen. I mean, you simply believe.

  226. When you are a true child of God, you simply believe. Why?

  227. The Holy Spirit. The leading, the guidance, the truths. Because

  228. he's going to lead you into the truth. Jesus said what?

  229. I am the way, the truth, and the life. No

  230. one comes to the Father except through me. We must

  231. read the Bibles. When you read the Bible and you understand,

  232. you stop chasing after the spirit of mamon. Why? You

  233. have it. You are wealthy. You are a very, very

  234. wealthy person's child. Say amen. And you know that the

  235. riches are there for you. But when you play with them, yeah,

  236. you leave them. You leave them. Because where we are going,

  237. Obwasi gold, or Ghana galam say gold, We went again.

  238. He said, no way for you. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Now, the

  239. other thing that is going to do for you is

  240. that as you keep reading God's story or the Bible,

  241. it is going to drive out fear and unbelief and

  242. allow faith to spring up in your heart. Faith comes

  243. by hearing. Reading the Bible, getting familiar with the story

  244. of the Bible will drive away fear and unbelief from

  245. your heart. And you're going to rise up and say,

  246. I believe! I believe! I know my Redeemer lives. I

  247. know we are going to a better place. I believe!

  248. You won't even finish reading the Bible from Genesis to

  249. Revelation before you start making these pronunciations. and confessions. I

  250. assure you. Try it. When I asked a new believer,

  251. I said, when I got my paperback, new NKGB, and

  252. I started reading, I have to always tell you about

  253. my Exodus experience. And when I say, I believe! I believe!

  254. I believe! Because God will give you the signs and

  255. then the proofs that you need And all the truths,

  256. all the truths, all the Bible stories that you have

  257. heard in Sunday school and all that on the air

  258. and all that, they will all seemingly crystallize into your

  259. heart and say, I believe because of the supernatural encounters.

  260. It's not an ordinary storybook. It is the words I

  261. speak to you. They are spirit and they are life.

  262. Unbelief will go. Faith will spring up. Fear will go.

  263. hope will spring up in your heart. And you won't

  264. go chasing after. We are still talking about you cannot

  265. save God and my mom. And why you are going

  266. to give all your time, all your talents and all

  267. your treasures to God. Because of the understanding that will come. Hallelujah. Amen. Now,

  268. get this too, because if unbelief can't be kept out

  269. of our hearts, then worries, cares, anxieties will cause us

  270. to forget God and forsake Him in preference and pursuit

  271. of the Spirit of Mammon. Can I take that? If

  272. we don't read the Bible, unbelief can't be kept out

  273. of our hearts. And when unbelief comes in. He is

  274. the one who is going to bring worries. He's going

  275. to bring cares. He's going to bring anxieties. And then

  276. we begin to forget about God. And then all this

  277. wilderness experience, we don't like it. The spirit of Mammon

  278. is saying that come, come. There's a broader road here.

  279. Whilst God is saying it's a narrow way. And then

  280. once you follow this narrow way, you are going to

  281. find life everlasting. And then the spirit of my mom

  282. says that while I go through the narrow way, when

  283. there's a broader way here, you are going to enjoy

  284. all the goodness of life. You're going to have enough clothing.

  285. You're going to have enough food. You're going to have

  286. enough shelter. I'm going to fly you all over the

  287. world and all the things. And hey, very, very enticing. Why?

  288. Because unbelief has set in because of your neglect of

  289. the Word of God. The Word of God will choke

  290. out the cares and anxieties. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Let's do 12

  291. to 14. We'll finish soon. Because as I said, when

  292. we forget God, the resultant effect is less. When you

  293. have eaten and are full and have built good houses

  294. and live in them, and when your heads and floods

  295. multiply and your silver and gold is multiplied and all

  296. that you have is multiplied, then your heart will be

  297. lifted up And you forget the Lord your God who

  298. brought you out of the land of Egypt and out

  299. of the house of slavery. So what does God say? Amen.

  300. When our hearts are lifted up, what does it mean? Pride.

  301. The original sin of Satan. The cost is full. Pride

  302. helps us to resist and to fight God off our backs. Pride.

  303. It helps us to resist and to fight God off

  304. our backs. Leave me alone. I want to do what

  305. I want to do. Hallelujah. Amen. So when the Bible

  306. says we forget God, it is not as if to

  307. say that we forget that he exists, but that we

  308. just say we won't be bothered by him. We can't

  309. afford to trust him and worship him and lean on

  310. him or even be thankful to him. We care less

  311. about his existence. When pride comes in, we care less

  312. about God. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. We rather prefer the spirit of Mammon.

  313. And that's idolatry, as I said. Anytime you go chasing

  314. after the spirit of Mammon, that's idolatry. And you will die.

  315. Because that's the... Idolatry is capital punishment. I mean, the punishment.

  316. You have to die. So immediately you start chasing after

  317. the spirit of Mammon. You realize that you don't enjoy

  318. church life again. You don't enjoy the presence of God again.

  319. You don't want to have anything to do. So pride

  320. lies along the wealth acquisition pathway. And wealth can, the

  321. same thing, wealth can easily induce pride in our hearts.

  322. And whenever pride sets in, we tend to resist God

  323. and his word. The other thing that pride does is

  324. that it chokes gratitude out. Pride, it will choke out

  325. gratitude for God. It never appreciates God. That's what he

  326. was saying. He said, then you will say that my hand,

  327. then your heart be lifted up. You forget the Lord

  328. of God who brought you out of the house of Egypt.

  329. Out of the house of God. Hallelujah. Pride of heart,

  330. it will induce amnesia in us and make us forget

  331. that we are born servants of God. We'll forget that

  332. he redeemed us. We'll forget about our humble beginnings. Let's

  333. read 15 and 16. Who led you through the great

  334. and terrifying wilderness. Still talking about what God did. With

  335. his fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty ground where there

  336. was no water. Who brought you out of the flinty rock.

  337. Who led you in the wilderness with manna that your

  338. fathers did not know. That he might humble you and

  339. test you. Once again, we are seeing the same thing.

  340. Now listen to 16 at the tail end. Now listen

  341. to it. He might humble you and test you and

  342. do what? To do you good in the end. To

  343. do you good in the end. Amen. So all these

  344. trying seasons here on earth, the lessons of discipline, faith, trust, obedience, humility,

  345. It's also that God, he says that he will do

  346. us good in the end. What is God? What is it?

  347. We want mamon. We want cash. We want to be

  348. below next. Then we know that God has done us good.

  349. God is good. He has done me well. Oh, my soul,

  350. rise up and praise him. Then you know that cash

  351. has come. God is good. He has done me well. Oh,

  352. my soul. Rise up and praise the Lord. He has

  353. done for me. He has done for me. And then we...

  354. What my sister could not do. Oh, praise the Lord.

  355. Have you seen those wagons parked in your car park?

  356. Oh God. Hallelujah. Then it means that God has done

  357. us good. No, no, no, no, no. No. To do

  358. us good and then to escape upcoming judgment. That's it.

  359. That's it. To escape upcoming judgment. That is the good

  360. that God wants you to do. Because we know where

  361. we are going. And we know all the lessons that

  362. he's trying to teach us. About discipline, obedience, faith. It

  363. all marks, year marks for the next life. The real life.

  364. All those vital lessons that we are going through here,

  365. including all the hardship, the suffering, the sickness, the death,

  366. that will usher us into chapter number two of our life,

  367. to do us good in the end. Never forget it,

  368. where we are going. He said, to do you good

  369. in the end. The reward of eternal life. That's it.

  370. That's why we don't go chasing after the spirit of God.

  371. Mamon cannot. He has no power. He has no ability

  372. to give us eternal life. Mamon doesn't. But God has it.

  373. So 17 will warn us. Listen to him. Yes, beware.

  374. That's a warning. Less in your heart. You say it

  375. in your heart. My power and the might of my

  376. hand have gotten me this wealth.

  377. 18.

  378. You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is

  379. He who gives you power to get wealth, that He

  380. may confirm His covenant that is sworn to your fathers,

  381. as it is to this day. Amen. Remember the New

  382. Testament covenant, what Jesus has promised us, and even if

  383. it's not forceful, in the New Testament covenant, God is

  384. quite forthright with it. Eternal life. Eternal life. Jesus said

  385. that so that where I am, you will also be there.

  386. It's a new dispensation. And like we always say, Jesus

  387. is coming through. We are in the end times. Very soon,

  388. the trumpet call of God will sound. And then this

  389. whole world, including all the world, the Bible says, it's

  390. very clear, the mountain peaks with all the silver, the gold,

  391. and then all that, all the galamse areas in all

  392. the world. The Bible says that the mountain peaks, they

  393. will melt like wax. The rivers and all too, they

  394. will dry up with the heat of God's fierce anger
