  1. It is only when you challenge your capacity that you

  2. discover your capacity. I don't want you to be content

  3. with your capacity. I want you to challenge your capacity.

  4. How could you be content with your capacity when you

  5. serve a God who is unlimited and says he's able

  6. to do immeasurably.

  7. More than you ask or imagine?

  8. You know who was content with his capacity? The man

  9. who sat at the gate called Beautiful. And every day

  10. he would beg for alms because he wasn't able to walk.

  11. And so he had convinced himself, I'll.

  12. Never be able to walk, but I could beg.

  13. So he learned to beg.

  14. He learned to survive off the scraps of what other

  15. people gave him. And he looked at Peter and John

  16. one day, and he had run into the wrong folks

  17. because Peter and John weren't willing to give him what

  18. he expected to be given. Peter and John were willing

  19. to reach down and show him what he could do

  20. that he never knew he had inside of them.

  21. You know, church is a place where you don't just

  22. come to be comforted.

  23. A lot of people come to church to be comforted

  24. in their dysfunction. But what if God doesn't want to

  25. comfort you in your dysfunction? What if he wants to

  26. challenge you beyond your dysfunction and make you new and

  27. give you the power to do what you never knew

  28. you could do? But how will you even know your

  29. capacity if you insist.

  30. On your comfort?

  31. You start with what you have. And see, the Macedonian

  32. church didn't have much. But when they gave within their capacity,

  33. God increased their capacity. And all of us come into

  34. church and come into faith with this little box of

  35. what God can do and what we can do, and

  36. we bring God our limitations.

  37. When we are met at the level of our own low.

  38. Expectations, we become disappointed and assume that God was limited,

  39. when in fact it was our lid that kept us from.

  40. Seeing what God could do through us. How good is

  41. this teaching today?

  42. Like 1 to 10, I'm thinking this is 11, 12, 12.5.

  43. It's time to challenge your capacity.

  44. It's time to challenge.

  45. Some of the things you've told yourself about yourself. We

  46. limit ourselves in all kinds of ways. We limit ourselves

  47. with our language. You label yourself with your language. Well,

  48. I'm just not a naturally happy person. I'm not predisposed

  49. to be an optimist.

  50. Okay, since when.

  51. Did the gospel consult your predisposition or your genetics before

  52. determining what kind of person.

  53. You could be? Some of you need to make room

  54. for joy in your life.

  55. You've convinced yourself that you can't be happy, and now

  56. you are living within the very limitation that.

  57. The lies created.

  58. But if you would ever challenge your capacity and say,

  59. my mom might not have been happy, but that doesn't

  60. mean I can't be.

  61. I'm a new creation in Christ.

  62. I have a new name and a new expectation, and

  63. I believe I'll see the goodness of the Lord.

  64. In the land of the living.

  65. And so we challenge our capacity.

  66. And I'm concerned.

  67. I'm concerned about what you might miss out on. I mean,

  68. what might you miss in your life if you never

  69. challenge your capacity? Listen to this, Ecclesiastes 11.4. It's not

  70. on the screen, but I'll read it to you. He

  71. who observes the wind will not sow, and he who

  72. regards the clouds will not reap.

  73. What does that mean?

  74. It means if you wait on all of the conditions.

  75. To align before you take a step of faith and

  76. commit yourself, you will never see, you will never experience it.

  77. And it amazes me how many people are conditional in

  78. their faith.

  79. I would if I could. I would if I could.

  80. I mean, I hear about the tithing thing. Sounds cool.

  81. I would if I could.

  82. That was dad's favorite line, wasn't it? I would if

  83. I could.

  84. He loved that line. He'd say it all the time,

  85. and he didn't want to do something for us. I

  86. would if I could. I promise you, man, I would

  87. if I could. Paul said the Macedonian church couldn't, and

  88. they did.

  89. And when they did, they could.

  90. So what faith does, faith flips the script. You say,

  91. I would if I could. Faith says you could if

  92. you would. That's my message today. Tell your neighbor you

  93. could if you would. You could if you would. You

  94. could forgive if you would forgive.

  95. But if you.

  96. Won't forgive, you can't forgive. You would have joy if

  97. you would rejoice. You could be free if you would

  98. be free. You could step out if you would step out.

  99. You could make it if you would endure. You could

  100. move forward if you would let go. you will when

  101. you do when you put it in his hands it'll

  102. multiply in your.

  103. Sight you will when you do will you do it.

  104. I believe god wants to increase your faith i believe

  105. god wants to increase your joy i believe god wants

  106. to increase your capacity The woman came to Elisha. She said,

  107. I don't have any oil. He said, go get some jars.

  108. She said, I don't need jars.

  109. I need oil.

  110. But he said, until you increase your capacity, God cannot

  111. release provision.

  112. You've got to get something to put it in. You've

  113. got to make room for God to move in your life.

  114. When we started the church, Chunks took me over to

  115. the senior center, and it seated 300 people, and I

  116. looked at him and said, we'll be in this building.

  117. I said, this building will accommodate us for our first

  118. five years. That's how big my faith was. Within five months,

  119. what God was doing in the church exceeded the capacity

  120. of that room. Now listen. Your ability to believe will

  121. never catch up with God's capability to perform.

  122. Can I say it again?

  123. If I say it again, will you put it on Pinterest?

  124. Your ability to believe will never catch up with God's

  125. ability to perform.

  126. Never.

  127. Now unto him who is able to do immeasurably more

  128. than we ask or imagine. The only cap on what

  129. God can do through you is your imagination.

  130. So I.

  131. Came to challenge your capacity. What you think you can be,

  132. what you think you can become, what you think you

  133. can do. And I suggest The current limitations in your

  134. life might not be a result of your capacity, but

  135. your conditioning, your mental conditioning, your spiritual conditioning. It wasn't

  136. that I could do one pull-up. It wasn't that one

  137. pull-up was the maximum of my ability and my future potentiality.

  138. As a pull-up doer. It wasn't my capacity. It was

  139. my conditioning.

  140. And I see so many people struggling because they've never

  141. conditioned their hearts. See, you can have a good heart

  142. but bad habits and never live the life God called

  143. you to live. And that's why I'm so glad my

  144. mom used to give me a dime every time I

  145. went to church. She was conditioning my mind that when

  146. God gives you a dollar, you give him a dime.

  147. She was teaching me about the tithe.

  148. That the first 10% comes back to God. And for

  149. some of you, even the thought of doing the math

  150. on bringing 10% of what God has given you back

  151. to him creates a wave of nausea in your heart.

  152. And here's what you're saying. I don't do cardio. I

  153. don't do the tithe thing.

  154. I had one guy tell me one time, do you

  155. know how much I make? He was under the impression

  156. that he made too much to tithe. Now, I've heard

  157. people say they made too little to tithe, but this

  158. was a new one. He said, I did the math,

  159. and my tithe would be more than my house payment.

  160. Do you know what I said?

  161. And I'm not always this bold, and I'm not always

  162. this witty, but the Lord gave me the answer.

  163. I said, well, let's pray. He said, pray about what?

  164. I said, let's pray that God will bring your salary down.

  165. Let's pray that God will adjust your income to the

  166. level where you'll have the faith to obey.

  167. I'm closing.

  168. Touch somebody and say, challenge it. I came to challenge

  169. all of the complacent people. Where you started does not

  170. have to be where you stay. God wants to do

  171. immeasurably more than you ask or imagine But it has
