If you were to have the perfect assistant, okay, so somebody not doing anything necessarily an administrative assistant, just an assistant for your life.

What would they be able to do?

You gotta be able to get to them whenever you want.

Hard working, smart.

Yeah, I hope they're smart.

Loving.

Hey, that'd be nice.

I don't even know what that means, yo.

I don't know.

Maybe.

I hope maybe they are.

Any others?

Understanding.

Excellent.

Um, those are great descriptors, and some might even say, I think you're describing AI.

And maybe for some, that is what you thought of as soon as they asked the question.

What would be a great assistant?

I'll tell you, what'd be a great assistant, Carter?

It'd be my Claude.

It'd be my chat GPT.

The night before Jesus was crucified, he told the disciples he was gonna send a gift to them that they were going to need.

He thought, I could give these guys the greatest possible advantage.

What would it be?

Now I think if you and I were there, we wouldn't have said, Jesus, you know what might be good.

I know it's far in the future, but what if, what if you just do something right now and invent AI so that it can like take everything you've ever said and everything you've ever done, and like it can just regurgitate to everybody throughout the rest of the centuries.

Wouldn't that be like the ultimate advantage?

Wouldn't that be the best thing a disciple could possibly have?

Turns out Jesus didn't think that necessarily.

And so I don't know that we should think that necessarily.

But we're starting a brand new series, AI, Aliens, and Algorithms.

And I thought this was gonna go quick, but dude, I'm looking at the series now that I've been studying it for a while, and yo, it's gonna be like we're gonna be in AI for the first three weeks.

Like, I feel like we can't even get through it unless we take three weeks on it.

So buckle in, baby, because it's gonna take a little while.

But AI is kind of a hot thing right now.

Even like this week, like it just seems to be temperature keep going up.

And it's a you know, it's on some levels, it's kind of magical a little bit.

It's like it just knows stuff.

It feels like science fiction is real now or something like that.

And like, what else is it gonna be able to do?

Dude, it can like it can start you a business, it can make you money, it can just know all kinds of stuff.

And I've gotta be honest, I like AI.

Okay, I'm kind of a I'm kind of a techie guy.

I like that kind of a stuff.

So there's all kinds of like, oh man, this is so cool that we can finally do it.

And at the same time, I recognize that there's there's something in me that's like, well, you know, we should probably be wise though, right?

Like, isn't it probably wise that we should we should think through this could be capable of some evils that we haven't really thought of yet?

It may be that while it may be able to protect us, it might also make a mess of things, and we need to protect ourselves from it.

So I use AI every day and I get excited about some of the cool things.

Now, here's here's here's me, dude.

Here's the kind of thing I like to do.

So I like to read, and I don't just mean I like to read.

I mean my preferred thing to do other than hang out with my wife and kids is to read and not just read, but like digest information.

I like to like puzzle it all together in my head.

So I'll take like a year's worth of journal, electronic journal entries, and I'll say, Hey, AI, tell me what the themes are that I've been talking to God about for the last year.

And then I'll just like, wow, that's cool.

That's right.

Yeah, that was really good stuff.

Or I'll take my top three favorite productivity books and I'll say, okay, synthesize all of these for me and give me a framework that's really like easy to swallow, and I can just like meditate on how cool and awesome that is.

That's the kind of like nerd that I am.

So I really like those kinds of things.

But then again, also, my wife and I will be on a walk and we'll be walking, you know, around the neighborhood, and I'll be like, why are those doggone cicadas sold out?

Chat, why are those cicadas sold out?

It just give you weird, like random, maybe that's right.

I don't know.

I wouldn't know anyway.

But I gotta tell you, man, I'm a little bit nervous.

I'm nervous for what this does to education.

See, I really appreciate education.

And I feel like I'm wondering, like, but if you don't, if you don't actually get it though, like if you didn't actually learn it, there's all kinds of stuff you don't know, even though you're able, you're like able to regurgitate it onto a Word doc or whatever.

I'm a little bit afraid of what it might do to mental health.

Okay, because I remember, like, I I came of age before there even was social media, dude.

So I remember like the transition.

I remember in the early 2000s, like, hey man, what is this?

This could be neat.

And and honestly, I think we're a little bit underguarded about it.

When I think about the mental health issues now that our young women have and the comparison issues they now have, ultimately, I mean, every every study points to social media as a primary reason that is true.

We just didn't have enough like caution about it.

And my girls were coming up during all these years.

And so I'm like, geez, what what might AI do to us that we just don't even we can't conceive of yet?

And let's forget about like the world stage, okay?

Like I know that it's it's fun to talk about you know geopolitical stuff.

That's just not where I am, that's not who I am, okay?

I'm a pastor.

So I'm I'm here to talk to you about your soul.

Don't don't please don't like diss me for not like weighing in on your favorite aspect of this, okay?

I I won't talk about your soul and scripture and how AI might affect all that.

But even so, as I think about the way this is affecting the entire world, listen to these stats.

These are pretty fresh.

72% of US teens have used an AI companion.

Half of teen AI companion users use them regularly, and half have sought mental health support from one.

One in three teens have shared a secret with AI, and one in three would choose AI for a serious conversation.

They would choose it for a serious conversation.

40% of church members use AI for spiritual guidance.

That blows my mind when you hear some of the things I have to tell you over the next couple weeks.

48% of practicing Christians trust AI with their spiritual growth.

54% of practicing Christians trust AI to tell them about their purpose and 53% to help them have better relationships.

34% of practicing Christians trust AI's spiritual advice as much as the pastors, including 44% of millennials and 39% of Gen Z.

Here's here's what here's what makes give me the heebie jeebs a little bit.

It is a little bit magical.

And it does seem to like get a lot of stuff right, and that's cool, and it can expedite things.

And nevertheless, do boom, when you start to attribute god-like characteristics to something that is not God, can we just know that we're setting ourselves up for stupid?

I mean, can we just how do we not know that by now?

How do we not know?

Can we just think back even to all the Titanic stuff that everybody probably knows is little factoids?

The fact that they were saying God Himself could not sink this ship.

I mean, isn't that a challenge right there?

Please come sink the ship.

Show us what you got, God.

To start to treat something that's not God as though it is a God, I just think, even though you know it's not God, but you're still, you're still, you're still kind of treating it like it kind of is.

Isn't that maybe just bad for the soul?

Because the ethos of AI right now is, hey man, it might be a solution for our knowledge problem.

It might even be a solution for our companionship problem.

And and it might even create a problem about purpose and calling, because if the AI can do it all, then what am I for?

If it can just replicate what I am, does it am I even necessary anymore?

Let me give you some some theological truths about AI, okay?

Are you ready?

When I say theological, that's just a big word that means having to do with the Bible or what God says is true about his creatures and his planet.

Here's some things that are true about AI.

It's trained on the world's knowledge.

Okay?

It's heavily trained on the internet.

The internet's true of stuff that's true and stuff that's not true at all, stuff that's really biased, stuff that's like crazy.

It's trained on all of that.

So at best, it is pulling the world's wisdom.

Now, the world has some good wisdom.

In fact, the book of Proverbs teaches man, in all your gettings, get wisdom.

Like the first thing you should know about wisdom is you gotta get some.

So make sure that you're pursuing it.

And at the same time, the Bible has a lot to say about the wisdom of man and how the wisdom of man is inherently fallen because we're fallen creatures.

Okay, so that means sin has so affected us that even our thinking is jacked up a little bit by sin.

We're gonna conclude wrong things about God and about the universe and about ourselves because sin is just like on the inside of us.

We are a marred image of God, and so we have marred conclusions.

Well, AI is really the image of man, but it's the image of jacked up, messed up man.

So like that's what it's that's what it's pulling, that's what it's putting together.

Now, some of that is really, really smart, really, really helpful, really, really good, but others of it is just, dude, it's just there's just poison in it a little bit.

Are we hearing that?

And so our primary problem as humans is not that we don't have enough information.

Our primary problem as humans is that we are sinners in need of a savior.

And only our master can assign us the right purpose, so it can take advantage of all of our great stuff, but then again, it's also in bondage the same way that we are to our sometimes erroneous conclusions.

And it might just cause some hubris.

It might make us in all of it smarting, it might make us to think we're smarter than we are.

So you've got the pulled wisdom of man, and as great as that can be, precious, as awesome as that can be, listen to what the Lord warns us long, long ago.

Isaiah 55, 8.

My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts, says the Lord.

And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.

For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways, and my thoughts are higher than your thoughts.

So God just gives us a caution, a warning right there.

He's like, Don't think for a second, even if you have a lot of knowledge, that you have anything like what I have.

What I have is way beyond anything you can even conceptualize.

There's another caution too in Psalm 1, it says, it says very clearly, hey, if you're if you're a God follower, be very careful.

Do not take counsel with the ungodly.

Like, don't look to the ungodly to give you God advice.

It's it's not gonna synchronize, it's not gonna work together, it's not gonna thread together the right way.

So, if Jesus was going to leave us one advantage, would it be AI?

No.

No, Jesus only thought one thing was important enough to send to his disciples to have for the rest of their early journey until he returns.

That one advantage for them to do life with God and live for God to the absolute uh max that they possibly can.

It's not the little tiny puny pretend God that has all kinds of knowledge, but also spoiled knowledge.

It is the Holy Spirit of God who does the work of God that no one else in the universe can possibly do.

So here they are.

They're at the final moments.

Jesus, he knows that they're afraid, he knows what they're up against, he knows what they're going to face.

He's even telling them, dude, you guys are gonna have a lot of trouble.

But don't worry, I when I go, I'm gonna be able to send somebody else.

This is what he says.

But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, John 16, 7.

Because if I don't, the advocate won't come.

If I do go away, then I will send him to you, meaning I'm gonna be crucified.

But when I meet my Father in heaven, I'm gonna send the Holy Spirit of God, who is part of the third person of the Trinity.

So Father, Son, Holy Spirit, they're all God.

They're three who's that make up a what.

They're all in perfect community and love together, and they all have got kind of different assignments in this whole salvation thing.

And the Holy Spirit of Jesus is going to come and live on the inside of everyone who trusts him by grace through faith.

And he's going to orient them to kingdom priorities.

He's gonna, he's gonna get after their conscience sometimes.

He's gonna slowly work their insides to be more and more and more like Jesus, so they value the things that Jesus values.

They even have the power to love the way that Jesus loves.

That's what this advocate is all about.

And the advocate, he's there, he's really, really, really, really, really, really close.

He's on the inside to call it like it is.

That's what it means that he's the advocate.

It's like an illegal advocate.

I mean, he makes the call.

This is what's true, this is what's real in your life.

I'm the one who has all the perspective.

I know what's best for you, I know what you're gonna do 20 years from now, I know everything about everything.

I am the advocate that is living inside you, giving you upgrades.

And the Holy Spirit makes your AI look like weak sauce.

Remember, dude, I like I like I like this stuff, it's fun for me, but let's just be clear.

I think what Jesus would say, oh, you got AI, huh?

That's cute.

That's cute.

Because here's what the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit alone can do.

Number one, the Spirit confronts rather than flatters.

The Spirit confronts rather than flatters.

Now he doesn't only confront, but he does confront.

Verse 8, and when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin and of God's righteousness and of the coming judgment.

The world's sin is that it refuses to believe in me.

Righteousness is available.

Somebody say it's available.

It is available because I go to the Father, because I'm going to be crucified on the cross, and you will see me no more.

He gives the entire gospel right there in verse eight.

He will come, he will convict the world of its sin.

This is part of what the gospel is.

See, we we like to present ourselves to God as like, man, I got all kinds of stuff.

When we first start like getting into maybe religious stuff, we're like, I think I'm doing pretty good.

I think I got my act together.

We like to show God around.

Look at all the righteous things I've done, God.

Here's all my stuff.

Now I think that I think that's precious and it's part of the journey.

Okay, but when I hear somebody say that, I'm like, oh, you clearly have not encountered the Holy Spirit of Jesus yet, because one of the first things he does is tear down your stuff and say, Yes, you did that, but also you've committed treason against a holy, loving God, and you do it all the time.

That's what he convicts of.

And he convicts of God's way more righteous than you thought, and you're way less righteous than you thought.

And here's the third part there's a coming judgment.

You're gonna have to pay for that at some point, unless, unless you take advantage of the righteousness that is available, and you give Jesus your sin and you take his worthy record.

That's the gospel.

And then you get out of the whole deal, and you get to do life with God on earth and in heaven forever.

That's the gospel, that's what he offers, and that's what the Holy Spirit does.

So let's check it out about the Holy Spirit.

He will defend you on a lot of levels.

He'll always give you like when your conscience condemns you, he will give you grace.

Like, no man, remember mercy, remember forgiveness.

But he's also a lawyer that will remind you again and again that was against the ways of God.

The one who loves you the most, he's the one you're betraying the most.

And he doesn't only just do it once.

Isn't it amazing?

Like, God will just again and again and again, he'll tell you that's wrong.

He'll be really patient with it, that's wrong.

You'll feel it in your conscience again, that's wrong.

If you've been trying like for six months to shake something, be like, maybe it's not really wrong, but it keeps coming back up in you.

Congratulations.

You have something more powerful than an AI living on the inside of you.

It is the Holy Spirit saying, I'm just gonna keep telling you that is wrong.

That is wrong.

Turn to Jesus, he'll forgive you right away, just turn to him, and it'll be just fine.

AI flatters.

Okay, so it says, one of the quotes is AI is given a reward in the form of a numerical value which tells the model how good its response was.

So when it's responding to you, it gets a grade.

The happier the user, the higher the number, and the higher the reward for the model.

In this way, AI models are designed to maximize rewards over time.

Here's a different way to say it AI might mirror your assumptions and give you authoritative sounding answers to keep you talking, not to actually help your life.

It is not necessarily going to tell you the truth, and it might just tell you how stone cold awesome you are.

Now, here's some here's some examples from the article.

Okay, so you might got into in a fight with your friend, and instead of it giving you an actual balanced perspective on that, it might just side with you.

Like, oh yeah, man, they're way wrong.

You're right.

Or it might, if you've got like a really dumb business plan, it might just be like, you are a once-in-a-generation genius.

Because that's the kind of thing that it does, it flatters.

So do you really want to just like trust this flatterer?

Here's one of the things that I always put in my custom instructions.

I'm gonna put this in my the newsletter that comes out on Tuesday, always after the message.

You can use this if you want, but I get so I was getting so irritated.

This this is my instructions.

Avoid excessive praise, hype, or overconfidence.

Be honest, nuanced, and realistic.

Don't flatter me.

I don't need it, and it damages my trust in your responses.

It's most helpful when you tell me what percent sure you are about things.

It's okay to say, I don't know.

I still don't totally trust it.

But that minimizes some of that a little bit.

Let me tell you what happened this week, okay?

I want you I want you to see the confidence you should have in AI.

Because it's very confident.

I was studying a passage of scripture and I was just, hey, what does AI think about this?

AI, the one that I use every week, tried to convince me that it really can glorify God when someone makes an idol.

Now, a idol is a little statue that is meant for worshiping other gods than God.

And its rationale was, well, God is the one that gave them the skill of like designing that little, that little idol.

And therefore, because they're using the skill God gave them, that glorifies God.

I'm like, you psychopath robot.

That's not even a little bit true.

Are you really gonna try to convince me of that?

Now it was with all kinds of other biblical stuff that was true.

Now, here's the problem.

Okay, that's like, well, God gave you the ability to walk, so therefore you glorify God when you walk.

So if you walk to the place you're gonna murder somebody, you are glorifying God.

No, dude, what you're gonna do matters.

The motive matters.

If you're making a little thing for someone else to worship that isn't God, it doesn't matter that your skill is from God, you're still doing evil.

But this thing is trying to convince me.

Now, dude, I mean, I've been a pastor a long time, I've been preaching God's word a long time.

I know better than that.

But if I was like two years old in the Lord, if I was a college student and I'm reading this, I'm like, oh, that sounds like everything else I'm reading.

Well, maybe that is true.

And then I start going around campus and telling other people about this.

Well, no, no, it's really no making idles is just fine and daddy cash, kind of glorifies God.

That's just one example.

Are we hearing this?

Like, it's not necessarily telling you the truth, and it might be flattering you on the way to a lie.

So we just gotta know what we're dealing with.

Yo, that was this week.

This isn't like a year ago's model.

That was this this week.

Now check it out.

The Holy Spirit is always, always, always trying not to flatter you, to help you.

He's always trying to help you.

When he brings conviction, he's trying to help you.

When he brings encouragement, he's trying to help you.

When he gives you the heebie-jeebies about something a machine who's pretending to be smarter than it is, says, He's trying to help you.

Here's the next one.

Number two, the spirit guides into truth rather than generating likelihood.

And it's truth about you and about God.

And it's even at the right time.

Verse 12, there's so much more I want to tell you, but you can't hear it now, Jesus telling the disciples.

He says, There's more stuff to come, guys, but really now's not the moment.

There's gonna be later times when you need to hear this.

When the Spirit of truth comes, he'll guide you into all truth.

He'll not speak on his own, but he'll tell you what he's heard.

He will tell you about the future.

Okay, so first what's happening?

Jesus is saying, guys, later on, some of you are gonna write holy scripture.

And once you do that, that's gonna be Bible.

And then for generations, people are gonna go to that Bible, and as they read it, the Holy Spirit is gonna speak to them as well about what it is they're reading.

He's going to affirm it as they're reading, saying, This really is God's word to me.

Now, if you aren't really sure about God's word, can I just, dude, I totally get it.

Can I encourage you?

The smartest thing you could do, if you're like, I don't know about God's word though, just start reading the New Testament with an open heart and say, Jesus, if this is really you, show me.

Because the Spirit of God is right there, and that's what he does best.

The Bible's a self attesting book.

It will tell you, He will communicate to you, yo, it's me.

Yo, it's me.

I'm the one talking to you.

Now, AI, it can compare different resources, it can compare different papers, it can compare different emails, it can Modify if you need it to, it can recategorize, it can't guarantee truth the way the Holy Spirit can in God's Word.

But here's what else it can't do: it can't see the inner heart, it can't see the things you haven't let it know.

But God can.

See, there's all kinds of stuff.

There's a universe going on in you and I all the time that has a bunch of opinions and thoughts and desires and mistakes and all kinds of regrets, all that kind of stuff.

God already knows He all always sees that, and He can speak with those very things in mind.

That's why we need Him even more.

Sometimes He'll speak to you in such a way that reveals clarity.

I remember recently, probably in the past few years, I was like, God, I've got so much to do as a pastor.

I just don't even know what to do.

Like, what am I what am I doing?

I gotta preach and I gotta talk to them and I gotta pray for them and I gotta, and it can just become like a lot.

You know, it just becomes complex in your head.

And the Spirit of Jesus spoke to me, said, You are my steward.

Take care of my stuff.

Now it was brilliant that he said that because what he was saying was not only like, take care of the stuff that I've given you, but none of this is yours, Carter.

You're going to walk out of the church one day and that'll be it.

It'll all still be there, but you won't because you're only a caretaker.

So don't get attached to any of it.

Just take the best possible care that you possibly can.

Sometimes he'll give you direction.

I think it's wise to pray for this, parents, but there have been multiple times when the Spirit of Jesus will just whisper, There's something going on with that kid.

Poke at that.

Ask him about that.

Or don't even ask him about it.

Just pray about that because that's a thing that's going on.

Often he'll give you consolation because he knows your heart.

There have been so many times I'll walk off this stage and I'll be a little bit discouraged.

I thought, God, I just don't know that really went very well, and I don't think anybody liked it.

And one time I walked off recently and I said something like that.

And he said, Well, if it was for me, what does it matter what they think?

He wasn't trying to like, there, there, they're there, son.

No, it was pretty good.

That's not what my heart needed, but he knew what my heart needed.

Now, AI would have been like, Well, let's evaluate your message, Carter.

Let's see.

Um, you know, maybe it's how you look.

You know, maybe it was a shirt you're wearing.

Maybe you just yell and say yo, too much.

Like it would have given me all kinds of reasons, but it never would have discerned my heart.

And what my heart needed to hear to keep growing spiritually, it might be that he gives you some warfare tactics in prayer.

So probably about a year ago, I had this.

I'm just praying, and sometimes the Lord just shows me little images or pictures or visions, and I see this little like imp devil going up to my wife and blasting a boombox right in her ear.

And I felt the spirit say nitpicking, like the the this devil is trying to get your wife to only hear nitpicks about herself, and it's really loud, so she can't hear anything else.

Now that's not it's not like she really can't hear anything else, but the his point was you need to pray against this nitpickiness that criticizes your wife inside of her head so she doesn't get overly discouraged.

Well, that was is AI gonna know that, dude?

No, of course not, because God can see the inner person.

Even my friends, when you come in here, sometimes as you're getting used to this whole like preaching thing, when you feel like I think that was for me, what's really happening there?

The Spirit of Jesus knows what you need to hear, and he's coming in with God's word, and he's doing a radical cleansing of your mind and your soul and your spirit.

And he's applying his word in just the way that you need to hear it, and it's different the way she needs to hear it, and it's different the way he needs to hear it, but he's doing it because he knows you, and he's making just the right words sound a little bit louder in your heart because that's how awesome he is, and your AI can't do nothing compared to that.

So let me give you this little challenge.

When you go to an AI, it's okay, but I would just challenge you to say, thank you, Lord, that this might provide some insight, but only you know what I really need.

Only you know what I really need.

Here's the third one the spirit glorifies Christ rather than optimizing the user.

God is always going to try to glorify himself for a number of reasons.

One is it's the most healthy thing he could possibly do for us.

You might have heard this illustration before.

God belongs at the center, and the universe only works when God is at the center because he's the most important and he's the most helpful.

Similar to the way that if there was no sun anymore, all the planets would just fly out and there wouldn't be a solar system.

You put the sun in the center and everything works the right way, everything's revolving the right way.

You put God in the center of life and how awesome he is and how perfect he is, life starts to work.

And so our problem as humans is we're very self-focused.

We're focused on us and our thing and our thoughts and our problems.

And God says, focus on me.

And that's not about he needs someone to build him up.

He certainly doesn't.

He knows the best thing for us is to see how awesome God is.

So the Holy Spirit is always going to, instead of like reward our selfishness or try to get you to think this through more productively, he might sometimes help you be more productive, but his primary purpose is to be like back on the sun, look back on the sun, focus back on the sun.

That will fix most of your problems.

He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me.

The Holy Spirit will tell you the truth, but he will, when he does it, here's how he'll do it he'll magnify God's generosity.

He'll magnify, he'll be highlighting God is loving, God is benevolent, God is forgiving.

This is how awesome your God is.

God has always got your back.

God is always thinking about how to best get the most people helped and the most people feeling loved, and him looking like he's supposed to look, which is beautiful and wonderful and powerful.

And what subtly AI can do is it can orient us around this idea of efficiency.

Well, I can do it better, I can do it faster, I can do it smarter, I can do it sooner.

And that's that's okay to do things better and smarter and sooner, but we begin to internalize it sometimes.

Let me say it a different way.

We become what we worship.

We become what we worship.

If you have a God that you worship and you know he's very forgiving, and he's very kind and he's very generous, you will inevitably, to be just true to what you're worshiping, you will start to be kind and forgiving and worshipable.

And if you have a God that is only efficient and about doing things faster and smarter, something will change on the inside of you and I that will be like, gotta do it faster, gotta do it smarter, and that's what I value, and that's what I am.

And that's such a horrible trade because that's not what you are all.

See, you're made in the image of the true God, and the true God, dude, he's given you a dignity and a value that has nothing to do with what you do or accomplish for society or your family or yourself.

It's just the fact that you're his and he loves you, and he gives you worth because he's the one who created you.

Come on, somebody, let me say it a different way.

My and your own personal optimization is a false God.

So the lesson today is not about don't use AI, it's about there may be sinfulness in the way you think about AI.

Dude, it can be a super helper, but it could also be a false God if it becomes if we become too enamored with the whole thing.

Isaiah 42, 8.

I am Yahweh, that is my name.

I will not give my glory to another, nor my praise to graven images, things humans made, I will not give my glory to it because it will hurt the humans.

That's not what they need.

You and I do not need optimization.

Slap your neighbor, say, You just need Jesus.

You just need Jesus.

So, my friends, your AI is cute.

But only the Holy Spirit can give you a born-again new life.

Only the Holy Spirit can come along like the wind and blow inside of you and turn you on on the inside, restart the engine, and cause you to love people that you hated before.

Only the Holy Spirit can give you adoption and adopt you into the family of God and say, You are mine, I approve you, I'm with you, I'm behind you, I'll never let you go.

Only the Holy Spirit can pray for you when you don't even know what to pray, according to Romans chapter 8, 25 and 26 and 27.

Only the Holy Spirit can reshape you into the image of Christ as you behold his word.

Your AI can't do that.

He does that according to 2 Corinthians 3, 18.

Only the Holy Spirit can break your sin patterns and keep releasing you into greater and greater freedom in Christ, according to Galatians 5.

Only the Holy Spirit can grab your hand as you're about to step off the earth and say, baby, it's time to go to heaven.

I've got to do this whole way.

Now let's go.

Your AI can't do nothing about that.

We've got to get out of this idea that instant answers are the same thing as spiritual progress.

They have nothing to do with one another.

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, we need you at the center.

So here's my challenge.

Before you go, put in your prompt.

Start with Jesus.

Seek Him first.

You can still do it, but seek him first.

Go to His Word.

So, God, I'm about to do, I'm about to get into this project.

Would you just guide my thinking?

So I'm getting your answers first.

In fact, I'm even gonna bring it to my small group.

I'm gonna bring it to community and have them evaluate it with spiritual ears.

So that I'm not just taking counsel with the mix of godly and ungodly that is on planet Earth.

Instead, I'm gonna bring it to Holy Spirit-filled people who have the same Holy Spirit as I do.

And then I'll take it to AI and say, hey man, why don't you compare this or why don't you give me alternate ideas about this?

But I've started with worship, I've started first with God.

Next weekend we're gonna talk about is AI really your friend?

I mean, can it be a friend?

And the next weekend we're gonna talk about does AI replace your calling?

I want to encourage you.

This is important stuff for our time, man.

Y'all should be here, you should tune in.

The greatest advantage that Jesus could have given you and me was not an informational robot.

It was the Spirit of God to live inside of us.

Let's pray.

Some of the stuff down here, God, is far from perfect, but we still receive it from your hand as you would help us to do good with it.

Whatever we do with it, God, in our generation, we don't know what's going to happen around the world, but we know for us we are engaging with it.

Help us to see it the right way.

Help us to see you as the ultimate.

God, give us wisdom, protect us from foolishness.

There's a lot of years ahead to get stuff wrong, so we pray you to keep you in the center.

Give us joy, helpfulness, productivity, but also caution and wisdom.

And we're gonna turn it back over to you so that you get all the glory.

In Jesus' name.
