Welcome to the City Place Church podcast.
-
My name is Josiah Williams, and here is my challenge for you.
-
As you're listening to the message, I challenge you to remove as many distractions as possible, to write out a few notes and things that stand out to you, and afterwards, share what you've learned on one of your social media outlets.
-
We level up by giving a level 10.
-
Thanks again, and enjoy the message If you're ready for the Word, say let's go.
-
Let's go.
-
Hey, there's so many things happening in the life of the church.
-
Next Sunday is gonna be a big party.
-
We gonna...
-
We, we have our Courageous Sunday, where we're gonna be giving unto the Lord towards our Courageous Project, which is, which is a two y- year initiative to us, for us to move into our permanent location.
-
We've got some updates.
-
It's gonna be cool, and we get to celebrate to see what God's doing.
-
But we're also kicking off City Groups.
-
Do I have any Man Cave people in the house? Any Sisterhood people in the house? And just so y'all know, we got two fresh groups starting.
-
We've got a Football Sunday group.
-
Come on.
-
The Lord is in the house.
-
We are gonna leave servi- This, this is how you know service is gonna end on time.
-
We're gonna leave...
-
Come on.
-
That's when you know God is here.
-
You know, you know service is gonna le- leave on time because we gotta get to the 1:00 kickoff for s- for Football Sunday.
-
That's, that's...
-
Look, and I'm hosting that group.
-
You got a guarantee And so there's some other groups.
-
We got Stride Club for those that want to remain, uh, in fitness and walking and running and things like that.
-
So many things.
-
But next Sunday, plan to stay after.
-
We've got food, fellowship.
-
It's gonna be a life-giving Sunday as we not only give towards, uh, the Lor- unto the Lord, but also jump into small group together in community.
-
Amen? All right, on your seat, you're gonna find some message notes today.
-
Uh, I am so honored to have, uh, a really good friend, uh, Pastor Demetric and Tish, pastor Bridge Church in Winter Haven.
-
And they have been so life-giving to not only my family, but to our church.
-
During the pandemic, we connected, and we had just transitioned Jorge and Frindy, who are our worship leaders, into the next season of their church.
-
And we were talking.
-
He was like, "Yeah, uh, I, I was, I was leading worship in Hawaii."
-
You know that's where the Lord wants you called, right? And so, and so, uh, he was like, "I was leading worship in Hawaii."
-
That alone, I was like, man, you definitely love the Lord, right? And so, uh, I was like, "Well, hey, would you mind coming and just helping us, you know, solidify the season?" And at the same time, he shared that they were planting a church in Winter Haven.
-
And so it was cool because he could've been like, "This is my thing," but he was building God's house.
-
And I want to just say thank you publicly for you all's investment in us.
-
Because what God is doing currently in our church and in our worship wasn't like it was when you when you sowed.
-
And so they pastor a healthy church.
-
God is doing so many amazing things in their church.
-
You know how we're believing the Lord for a permanent location? They're walking in that right now.
-
About to turn five years old.
-
And, and, and a while ago, when they were planting their church, you sowed into their church plant.
-
We always talk about how we're kingdom builders, and it is a high honor today to have one of my small group guys, 'cause we're in the same brotherhood small group as pastors, be able to deliver the word of the Lord to you today.
-
He is family, and he's here today to pour into us.
-
Would you please do him the high honor and stand to your feet and welcome Pastor Demetric Phillips as he comes to preach to us today? Right on.
-
Well, hey, you guys can be seated this morning.
-
And, uh, man, one, I, I do wanna say thank you again.
-
I mean, you, you, you did more for us than we could ever imagine.
-
We just thank you for that.
-
And thank y'all for your irrational generosity in helping us start.
-
And so can we just bless Pastor Damon and Taisha? Come on, 'cause we got some, some amazing leaders Come on, some amazing leaders.
-
And I just, again, thank you, man, for, for, for what you did for us and, and they probably will never know, um, how much it meant for us and how much it, it did help us, uh, during that time.
-
And just to come over here and be a part of what God is doing, uh, i-in, in the midst of, uh, CityPlace.
-
'Cause I tell you what, boy, if you were here during that pandemic, y'all was outside on that doggone...
-
Look, it was so hot, Satan was like, "I'm going back to hell.
-
I'll come back in November."
-
It was hot, boy.
-
But, uh, I loved it.
-
I loved every minute of it.
-
But, uh, hey, I do wanna just introduce my wife.
-
She's super fine.
-
She's smart She's amazing.
-
And, uh, Tish, go on and say hey to folk.
-
You can wave your hand or something.
-
We got four kids.
-
I couldn't get her to leave me alone.
-
She, she got...
-
We got four.
-
I was like, "Dang, girl.
-
Didn't you say rest? I need to r-」 No, no.
-
Lord, forgive me.
-
Oh, man.
-
But, uh, we got four kids, uh, three girls and one boy.
-
How many, how many y'all was on that train? You kept getting all them girls and you're just like, "Lord, we gotta keep it going till we get that boy," and finally got that boy.
-
And so we got a, uh, 18, 17, 16, 15, and 12.
-
Ooh.
-
Yeah.
-
And so we- we're blessed, and we thank God for that.
-
Um, but just let me pray real quick.
-
God, I just pray as we jump into this, um, that You would, um, You would help us, You would help me to communicate in a way, um, that will honor You and that will bless You.
-
Um, and we just thank You for it, God.
-
I pray You prepare every heart in this room, even as they're on this journey from cautious to courageous.
-
May it be so in every aspect of their lives.
-
And God, would you use me this morning to help further the kingdom and what you're doing in this house? And we all will be careful to give you the glory for that, in Jesus' name, amen.
-
And, and just to, just to encourage you guys, and even, even Pastor Damon, like, um, in what you guys are doing, um, sometimes, you know, like you guys are believing for God to, to bless you, um, with a facility where, where you can, you can do things throughout the week and continue to fulfill the vision that God is giving you.
-
And can I just encourage you, um, n- never, never, never make your decisions on where you are, yo.
-
Um, because sometimes we don't know what's on the other side of that yes, and when we're in the midst of it, sometimes we can't see it, but we know God is leading us to it.
-
And just a testimony for us, like, like Pastor Damon was talking, man, we, we've been like, "God, we, we, we would love a facility."
-
We got kicked out of the Ritz.
-
They was like, "We don't want a church in here," so they kicked us out.
-
But then the school opened up the door for us, and then we just kept praying, "God, you know what, you gonna do what only you can do."
-
And, uh, with that, we kept believing, kept trusting God to do what only He do.
-
And, and then some guy out of nowhere called me and was like, "Hey, is this Demetrick?" And I was like, "Yeah, it is."
-
And we started talking story.
-
We met at some place, and, and he's like, "Man, I've been looking for you for a year."
-
I was like, "Wait up, brother.
-
What, what you mean? You can't lead with that," you know? And, uh, he's like, "Yeah, I was looking for you for a year, and, um, I reached out to you and, and I think you were in Africa."
-
I was like, "Yeah, I was in Africa for a little bit, and then I got back and I end up in the hospital with some back stuff."
-
Some crazy stuff started happening.
-
And he goes, "Yeah, I, like, tried to call you."
-
And I was like, "Yeah, man, I had a new number."
-
I was like, "But what you need, bro? You've been looking for me for a year."
-
He's like, "I've been looking for you a year because we wanted to give you our building."
-
And I was like, "Hold up, chief.
-
Scoot over."
-
You know what I mean? Like It's like, "You still wanna do it?" He was like, "Yeah, but we gotta work..."
-
I was like, "Well, let's work out whatever we gotta work out."
-
But here's the thing, like there were some things that had to happen, like what Tish and I talked about.
-
I was like, um, "God, this, this, this, this, this needs to happen before we jump into this, but we trust you to do what only you can do."
-
And out of the blue, man, God is like, "Now today."
-
We got a church that's meeting in the facility that's a seven acres, no mortgage payment- Whoo But I say that because we stays faithful in every aspect.
-
In every aspect.
-
And next Sunday, you guys got the courageous offering.
-
And sometimes when things get tight, it's like, "God, the school is just fine."
-
But maybe school ain't just fine.
-
Maybe it is God's...
-
It's, it's transporting you somewhere to reach some folks that need to be reached, that only City Place can reach.
-
Only people that you can reach.
-
And God has strategically placed you guys here in this moment, in this season, in this time to reach more people.
-
What you say? Reach the one.
-
And now is that time, man.
-
So don't let up.
-
Don't be discouraged.
-
Keep your hands to the plow and keep moving forward.
-
Keep moving forward, yeah? So God, would you do what only you can do, and we give you the glory for it in Jesus' name.
-
I'm about to jump into that message.
-
But, uh, this, this is so timely, like, in the season that you guys in, um, about moving from cautious to courageous.
-
And then just my message today, I wanna talk to you guys about being available because a lot of our prayers, a lot of our everything we pray for kinda is, is based on what we need, right? Like, "God, give us a good school.
-
Give us a house.
-
Get us out of debt.
-
Heal my grandmama.
-
Do this."
-
And all those prayers are great.
-
There's nothing wrong with those prayers.
-
Nothing at all.
-
But we shouldn't limit ourselves to just that.
-
I always ask people, if God answer, uh, right now, if God answered everybody's prayer in this room, would it just change your world, or would it change the world? That's good.
-
You know what I mean? If he answers your prayer this week, the very thing you've been praying for, will it only affect you? That's good.
-
Would it only benefit you? So let's not limit ourselves to what we're praying for and what we're believing God for.
-
And I believe this can be an anchor today.
-
This can be an anchor in your walk that can change the whole trajectory of your life And the lives of those that are around you.
-
Maybe God is calling you to step into something that you've been fearful of for some time.
-
Maybe God is calling you to get rid of, get, get out of that toxic relationship that you're in.
-
I don't know what it is.
-
Maybe God is calling you to start the business.
-
Maybe it's God's calling you to give more than you thought you was gonna give.
-
Or maybe God is calling you to stop being a cat person and get a dog That's funny right there, boy, I don't care what you say But what I know is God is calling you to do something.
-
He's trying to move you But I know there's three responses to God's call It's three responses.
-
A- and just keep this in mind, and we see it throughout scripture, and we see these same responses in our lives, in our everyday lives.
-
And so one dude I wanna talk to you about, his name Jonah.
-
And Jonah, one of his responses was, "Hey, here I am, but I'm not going."
-
Right? You know his story.
-
God called him.
-
Like, "Here I am, but I ain't going."
-
Let's, let's read it in Jonah 1.
-
He says this: "Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it because its wickedness has come up before me."
-
But Jonah did what? He ran away.
-
He ran away from the Lord.
-
I, I wonder how many of us, God is- He's calling us, and we sensing that He's calling us, but we're like, "God, I, I hear You, but I ain't going over there.
-
I ain't gonna do that."
-
You know, you know, I like playing basketball, and, uh, I'm not the best basketball player.
-
You, you know I'm a little vertically challenged, so I don't do well on basketball, but I like playing basketball.
-
And so I grew up, I grew up here in Orlando, but I grew up in the part Mickey Mouse don't go to, okay? All right, Mickey Mouse don't go to that side.
-
I grew up on Mercy Drive, and then we moved over to Pine Hills, and, and so, so I got...
-
I-- There, there's still a little hood in me that God is working on.
-
And so I don't do good when people start tongue wrestling.
-
Like, when, when we playing basketball and they start talking junk, and I don't do good with that.
-
I'm like: Look, bro, we either gonna play basketball or we gonna fight.
-
Make the decision right now.
-
You know what I mean? You either just keep talking, running off at the mouth at me, right? And this was a couple years ago, and I'm in there, I'm playing basketball, and, and, uh, you know, this guy, he just, he just call- he start calling me trash.
-
Right? And I can't stand when people call me trash.
-
You know what I mean? It just make me go harder.
-
And then, so he kept calling me trash, and I'm like: Bro, you got one more time, bro.
-
You got one more time to call me trash.
-
And, and my daughter was on the sideline.
-
Like, she happened to be at the gym, and she's like, "Woo, you a pastor."
-
You know what I mean? I'm like, "Jesus, hold on one second while I go over here for a second."
-
You know what I mean? And, uh, so I, I, I get over there, and, and we just going back and forth, and then he sits down, and then I feel the Holy Spirit like, "Hey, you need to go talk to him."
-
I'm like, "God, Lord."
-
You know? I'm like, "What, You want me to condemn him? I'll do that right now.
-
Just tell me."
-
Like, "What you gonna do to him?" You know what I mean? "You gonna give him a limp? I'll go for it," you know? But it's like: Hey, you need to go talk to this guy.
-
And so I, I'm like: Man, God, this the same guy that called me trash.
-
You know what I mean? Now You want me to go minister to him.
-
And I didn't wanna do it.
-
And how many of us, we've gotten in situations where we don't wanna do something, but we know God is calling us to it, but it's like: But God, I hear You, but nah, I ain't going there.
-
And so I went over to the dude, and I'm expecting, I really don't have to shake his hand.
-
He's like, "Whatever."
-
I'm like, "Woo-hoo."
-
And so God just gave me a word for him, and I just started to minister to him and led that dude to Christ right there on the basketball court.
-
Yeah.
-
But I had to get out of my own way.
-
And I think about Jonah, and m- may- maybe you don't know this about Jonah, when God's calling Jonah to get to these people, to minister word to these people, uh, during that time in Nineveh, those are the same people that when they would take over a city or they would take over a nation, they would go and they would rip the skin off of some of them.
-
They would kill all the children.
-
They would rip the skin off them, and they would bury them in the sand as torture to squash a rebellion just in case someone want to.
-
And now God is telling this guy, some scholars believe that Jonah's family would have went through some of that stuff, some of that torture.
-
And now God is calling Jonah to go minister to these people, to save them and to forgive them.
-
And how many of us have been offended by somebody and won't move what God is asking us to do because we're offended about something? That's good.
-
So what's gonna be your response? Are you gonna say, "Here I am, but I ain't doing that"? We gotta answer that question.
-
But so that's a response.
-
But then the response number two is Moses.
-
We see Moses, right? Moses said the same thing, "Hey, here I am, but send somebody else.
-
Like, I got this going on, God.
-
You know I don't know how to speak.
-
I speak with a stutter, like, so, like, send Aaron."
-
That's what Moses said.
-
What, what, what God said to him, and, and, uh, we look at Exodus 3:10, he says this: "So now go," this is God talking to, uh, Moses.
-
"I'm sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people, the Israelites, out of Egypt."
-
But Moses said to God, "Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?" Send Aaron.
-
Send somebody else.
-
Like, like, how many times have you said in your own life, like, "God, I, like, I know you want me to do this, but I'm not even qualified"? And you've come up with so many excuses Send somebody else.
-
I don't have a college degree.
-
I don't have a AA.
-
I'm not married I've been divorced.
-
I've been hurt.
-
Seen somebody else.
-
You know, I love this saying, um, where, where they say God doesn't, he doesn't call to equip, but he equip those that he call, right? And it's the same thing for some of us in this room I wanna do it but...
-
Like it's time to get rid of that, yo, and say, "Here I am, God, send me.
-
Here I am.
-
No, no, no more excuses."
-
But then I love this third response from Isaiah.
-
Isaiah said, "Here I am."
-
Do what? "Send me Send me.
-
Here I am.
-
Notice what he didn't say.
-
He didn't say, "God, how much it's gonna cost?" Right? He, he didn't say, "God, is it a gated community? How much they gonna pay me?" He didn't say that.
-
He, he didn't say, "Will they have a Starbucks on every third corner?" You know what I mean? Or Scooter's or, or Dunkin' Don- He didn't say none of that.
-
He said, "God, send me."
-
And I think sometimes we gotta be careful because we can miss it because God is trying to do something, but it don't look like what we think it should look like And we can miss it.
-
Sometimes we get in situations and, and we like, we look at people and we be like, "That person can't do nothing for me," or, "There ain't no way God is using that very person."
-
And we miss it.
-
We miss it.
-
We feel drawn to something, but because we feel like it won't benefit us, we're like, "Ah, next one.
-
On to the next one."
-
That's why I can't stand...
-
Th- this isn't even in my notes.
-
When you talking to somebody, don't be looking for the next person to talk to.
-
That's good.
-
Yeah.
-
Yeah? That's good.
-
'Cause you never know who God has placed right in front of you.
-
Oh yeah.
-
That's right.
-
And man, 'cause I, boy I be, boy I be wanting to be like, "Child, you talking to somebody," and they're like, "Yeah, you know, yo, yo, yo, yo."
-
They're looking for the next per- okay, let me keep going.
-
But we gotta say, "Here I am, send me."
-
So if we're gonna say, "Send me," what do we need to do to fully surrender to God? If He's gonna send us and we're gonna say yes, what do we need to do? What needs to happen? Number one, you need a genuine experience in the presence of God.
-
That's good.
-
A genuine experience.
-
Let, look, look, look at Isaiah 6:1.
-
He says this: "In the year King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on the throne, and the train of his robe filled the temple."
-
And so while he's in this temple, he's, he's hearing the, the angels.
-
He's hearing them sing, "Holy, holy, holy," and the whole earth is full of His glory.
-
And what I'm noticing in this moment is Isaiah is making time to get in the presence of God.
-
And, and mind you, th- this is a powerful man of God, who God is using to prophesy to kings, right? To prophesy over people lives.
-
God is using Isaiah in a major way, but still yet you find this moment where, where Isaiah is alone with God.
-
Let me ask you, are you making time to be available for God? Like, are, are you intentionally making time? And don't say you don't have time, 'cause you have time, right? You just gotta be intentional about it.
-
You know, for, for me, like I, I got two dogs.
-
Um, I got a, I got a, a little XL bully, and then I got a dog that, that we, we praying for deliverance.
-
He's a little Chi-Poo.
-
That dog psycho, right? But I get him.
-
You know, and s- and part of my thing, I like to walk, 'cause I know if I sit down, I'm gonna fall asleep, right? I'm, I'm gonna be out.
-
I'm gonna be so love resting in the Lord, right? When I'm trying to pray.
-
So I don't sit down 'cause I fall asleep, so I like to get up, I like to walk around.
-
Or then I got this little scooter, and I'll ride my little scooter, and some of the most times that I felt God speak to me and give me direction has been times when I'm intentional, and I'll get out and I'll walk, and I'm like, "God, here I am.
-
Just speak."
-
And I talk to Him, ride my little scooter.
-
Bing bing.
-
Got a little bell on it, too.
-
I love that scooter.
-
That's a whole 'nother story.
-
One day I'll tell you about that scooter.
-
It brought me through some times.
-
But, um, but it's like, I, like I, I, I make times where I meet with God.
-
Like, are you making time to meet with God? Like, what does that look like in your life? May- maybe you say maybe you're a busy mom and you gotta get the kids ready, or a busy dad, gotta get the kids ready.
-
Well, hey, when you driving them to school, let them go psycho in the back seat and you just have a talk with God.
-
When you drop them off, turn off the radio and just talk to God.
-
Take time and pray.
-
He'll meet you in that moment.
-
We gotta draw near to Him.
-
The Bible says this, "If we draw near to Him, that He'll do what?" So go for it.
-
Number two, you gotta have a genuine awareness of your sinfulness You gotta have a genuine aware and of your sinfulness.
-
Listen, one of the biggest lies we tell ourselves that, "Man, I got a good heart Right? Like, like in our culture, that's the biggest thing.
-
I'm a good person.
-
The Bible says our righteousness is as filthy as rags.
-
Yeah.
-
Hey, welcome to church this morning where we make you feel good, right? You know what I mean? Well, that's what the Bible says.
-
It's like, it's like, hey, listen, our, our righteousness is, is, is as filthy as rags.
-
But this is what I know, man, like when we see how good God is, like we know how good we not.
-
Yeah.
-
That's good.
-
Like and, and, and I'm thinking about Isaiah when he's saying this.
-
He says, "Woe to me," in verse five, chapter six.
-
He said, "Woe to me! I cry.
-
I am ruined."
-
And this is when he's in the presence of God.
-
And, and that's meaning like he feels undone.
-
He's recognizing his own inadequacies He's aware of, of, of, of his sinfulness.
-
He's aware of that.
-
Man, yeah, I'm a powerful prophet, but man, in the presence of God, there's still some things that he's showing me that need to be dealt with.
-
And that only comes from the presence of God, the Holy Spirit.
-
He gets in there, we allow him in, and he comes in and he begins to identify stuff As he takes you on this journey, he says, "Woe is me, I'm ruined, for I'm a man of unclean lips, and I live among some people with unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty."
-
And when he's talking about unlips, his unclean lips, it's like a, it's a, it's a, it's like he's not talking about like a generated speech.
-
Like some of y'all probably still got the potty mouth, co- could drop a couple bombs or something like that, but that's not what he's talking about here.
-
He, he, he's talking about like, uh, uh, it's, it's an expression of our inner condition of our heart It's an expression of our heart like, hey, like I live around, like God, I, I'm so unclean.
-
My heart, being in your presence, it made, made me aware of how jacked up I am and how much I need your grace and your mercy that's made new every morning.
-
Unclean lips What I've noticed every time I am in the presence of God, I'm made aware of that, but His grace brings me to a full point of surrender Just knowing that what Christ did on that cross for us.
-
While we were still yet sinners, he died for us, for you, for me Love that.
-
And then number three A genuine understanding of God's grace You gotta have a genuine understanding of God's grace.
-
Because this is what I know, uh, like Pastor Damon said, as you guys move from cautious to courageous, there's gonna be some things that trip you up a little bit There's gonna be some things that may try to discourage you.
-
You may make a mistake, but you need to remember God has graced you for this very season.
-
Yeah? Yeah.
-
He's giving you grace for it, to help you through some things that you can't do in your own strength.
-
Amen.
-
I love verse six.
-
He says, "It's then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken the, with tongs from the altar, and with it, he touched my mouth and said, 'See, this has touched your lips, and your guilt,'" I love this, 'is taken away, and your sin is atoned for.'"
-
Where was he? In the presence of God.
-
In the presence of God.
-
Listen, I need you to understand this.
-
Your lying lips, some hatred you may have in your heart, your secret sins that nobody knows about but you and God Your sexual sin.
-
If you're a thief, if you've been cheating, the same way that this coal removed the guilt and the sin is the same way what Jesus did on the cross.
-
His blood has washed you clean as snow, yo.
-
Amen.
-
His blood has, has, has made you whole.
-
His blood has made us where we don't have to be s- slaves to sin We gotta understand his grace.
-
Because if you don't, as you're moving forward, as you're being courageous, every time you're gonna get down on yourself like, "God, I'm not worthy because I'm sinful, and I made another mistake, and I did this."
-
And the enemy's gonna use that to try to open up and get a foothold, a stronghold in there to keep you from what God is calling you to be because you done did something that you feel like you don't have the strength to overcome.
-
But what-- this is what I do know, and, and Peter, the Bible says this, that God has given you everything you need to live a godly life Gotta understand it's grace.
-
You gotta move forward 'Cause he's cast your sin as far as the east is from the west.
-
That's how far he's cast your sin, and the east and west don't touch So go after it.
-
So you gotta sense God's presence, embrace your sinfulness, and fall in His grace.
-
And I love it in verse eight, He says this, "Whom shall I send?" And Isaiah's response was, "Here I am.
-
Send me.
-
Send me with all my inadequacies.
-
I know I'm flawed, but God, everything in me, use it."
-
And if you need to bring the coal to clean some things and remove them, bring it.
-
Yeah.
-
Send me, God.
-
You notice he d- he didn't say, "God, let me get perfect," right? He didn't say, "God, let me get rid of this habit first."
-
Right.
-
Right? Send me The Holy Spirit does.
-
I always tell people, you, you don't get clean before you get in the shower, do you? You get in the shower to get clean Here's the thing, and when he's saying, "Send me," it's not, it's, it's not something that, that, that, that, it's, it isn't a reluctant like, "Well, all right, God, I guess I'll go."
-
Right? It's, it's, it's not a one-time decision We're asking God, we're gonna serve you.
-
Send me.
-
Send me.
-
God, my life is yours.
-
And it, it's, it's not some, some one-time decision that you made back in 1982.
-
"You know, well, you know, when, when I used to walk to school uphill both ways, you know, I said, 'Lord, send me and I'll give a couple dollars to the homeless.'"
-
And you've been living off that for all these years When you're saying, "God send me," there's gonna be things he's, he's gonna send you.
-
And, and, and here's the thing.
-
It doesn't necessarily have to be something huge.
-
It, it can be something as simple as, as like, you know, um, "Hey, go sit down and talk to this person.
-
I know you're in a rush, but if you got your butt up on time, you wouldn't be in a rush."
-
You know what I mean? And this is why I know a lot of people, a lot of us in this room, and I've been there.
-
Like, like when God was l- like calling us to leave Hawaii, I love Hawaii.
-
Like I, I would go spearfishing like two, three times a week, and I-- we lived, what? Right down the street from the ocean.
-
Like, like from here to the front parking lot was the ocean.
-
And I'm like, "Hawaii five-0, braddah."
-
You know what I mean? Like, and then God said, "Move to Polk County, I'm like, I'm like, "We going, we going to Polk County."
-
You know what I mean? But a lot of us don't pray, "God, send me," because we scared of what He's gonna send us to.
-
You may be like, "Well, I'ma pray, but God, my, oh God, I don't wanna go to a, a fourth world country," you know what I mean? Let alone a third world, God, you gonna send me," you know what I mean? And, and, and, and we get scared.
-
We get scared.
-
We get scared because of what we feel like He's gonna say to us, 'cause we don't feel strong enough to, to fulfill what He's asking us to do.
-
So we never quite get to that point where it's like, "All right, God, all my cards on the table, send me where you want me to go."
-
Just like next week.
-
God's probably already talked to you about an amount that He wants you to give.
-
God, I don't know, you know, the new iPhone come out, you know what I mean? So what it is, put your cards on the table and say, "Send me."
-
And it doesn't have to be big.
-
You can slow down and listen to somebody.
-
You can slow down and pray for somebody.
-
Take them to lunch, talk to them.
-
Maybe you can serve in the two-year-old room.
-
You like, "Man, that's worse than a third world country," you know what I mean? He's like, "I just smile.
-
I don't understand what is...
-
You know, I was in Burundi in Africa and like, and, uh, they got to talking to me and I don't know what they be saying."
-
I was like, "Hey."
-
You know what I mean? Well, some of us like, like, maybe, maybe, maybe He will call you to be a missionary.
-
I don't know.
-
Maybe He will call you to serve in the 2-year-old room.
-
I don't know.
-
Somebody like, "The devil is a liar.
-
I know He ain't gave me that grace."
-
Yeah That's funny right there, boy.
-
Get a guy, you know what I mean? No, no, I'm joking But this is what I do know, that as you fully surrender to God As you, as you fully say, "God, here I am, send me."
-
No matter what it is, no matter what area of life, "God, here I am, send me.
-
I'm willing."
-
This what I know he's gonna prompt you.
-
Even this week, I believe as you pray that prayer, he's gonna prompt you.
-
He's gonna bring up some things that you probably have let die, that you've let lay dormant because you feel like you weren't ready.
-
May- may- maybe he's gonna tell you to go get that patent for the little creation that you've been dreaming up in your mind, but you just hadn't done it because you feel like people don't need it It's time for you to surrender that to Him and say, "Here I am, send me Here I am, send me.
-
What, what, what if, what if, what if that one business, that one thing you start can fund every vision, every dream that City Place has? From you making a decision What if I did Think about the souls People that yet haven't heard the gospel God is waiting for you to say, "Here I am.
-
Send me It's in me.
-
Man, it's such a thrill to be used by the God who created it all Think about that.
-
The God who, who set the stars in this place with His finger The God who has led people over centuries and generation from all creation is tugging at your heart.
-
Think about that for a second.
-
The God of all creation is speaking to your heart 'cause He wants to use you.
-
He wants to send you So What's gonna be your answer? It's gonna be answered.
-
It's gonna be send me, or it's gonna be, "God, I hear you, but I ain't doing that."
-
Or is it go, "God, I hear you.
-
I, here I am, but send somebody else."
-
You make the choice.
-
Amen? Let me pray for you.
-
God, I just pray, um, for us in this room, including myself.
-
You're calling us to do something So God, I just pray that even now that your Holy Spirit begin to work on the hearts of your people God, I pray that you would begin to just do a beautiful work in our hearts, God, in the areas that we've been timid in, in the areas that we've, we've known that you're highlighting.
-
God, may we walk boldly because you say in your word that you haven't given us a spirit of fear or of timidity, but you've given us a spirit of power, love, a sound mind, which is self-discipline.
-
So help us in these areas God, and that we would say this week, here we are, send us.
-
We would surrender you, surrender to you as we continue to move forward in courageousness Help us in that, God.
-
And we'll be careful to give you all the glory for all the amazing things that you're doing in our hearts and in our minds In Jesus' name, amen.
-
There may be in this room and, and, and like, you're like, "Man, I wanna be courageous," and maybe you don't even know Jesus, and you're like, "Man, how do I get that strength?" It's pretty simple.
-
God sent Christ to come here and pay a price that we could never pay.
-
He sent His Son, and the Bible says it like this.
-
He said, "Whosoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."
-
And then He also says this in Roman 10:9-10, that, "If we would confess with our mouth and believe in our heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, that we shall be saved."
-
Man, it's just that simple.
-
A surrendered heart And this morning, yeah, we're talking about here we are, send us.
-
But let's get your soul right, yeah? It's very simple.
-
You don't gotta go out and feed 1,000 people.
-
All you gotta do is just accept Him into your heart.
-
Confess Him as your Lord, and then get baptized.
-
Y'all just had baptisms.
-
Man, that's amazing.
-
So let's take care of your soul right now, 'cause I...
-
Listen, I can't wait to get to heaven.
-
You know why? 'Cause I don't gotta worry about sugar no more.
-
My wife took all the sugar outta the house.
-
I'm gonna be like, "Jesus, you want some Lemonheads? They ain't have these in your time.
-
These things are amazing.
-
How about some Skittles?" You know? The thing about heaven is gonna be amazing.
-
There's no more sickness, there's no more worries, right? There's no pain.
-
There ain't no bills you gotta pay.
-
Come on It's amazing.
-
It's paradise.
-
Think about the most beautiful place here on this earth, right? You're like, "Man, that's beautiful," and it's still a broken world.
-
And we're gonna have a new earth, a new heaven where everything is perfect, and all we gotta do is ask Jesus to be Lord of our life And maybe you're like, "Man, I wanna give my heart to Christ, but man, I, you don't know, Pastor, I, I done done some goofy stuff."
-
But this is what I do know.
-
You don't get clean before you get in the shower.
-
Bring it all to Him.
-
Come as you are, and then the Holy Spirit will take care of the rest.
-
Amen? So I'd love for all of us to pray this together.
-
Would you say, God, thank you for sending your Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for my sins.
-
And I believe that Jesus died and rose again with all power in His hands, and I confess that I'm a sinner in need of a savior.
-
So, Jesus, I'm inviting you, not only to be my savior, but also Lord of my life.
-
So clean me and fill me with your Holy Spirit, that I may follow after you all the days of my life.
-
In Jesus' name, amen.
-
Come on, let's give it up for those that may have prayed that prayer.
-
Hey, and thank you for letting me come and hang out with y'all for a little bit.
-
Come on, can y'all show your appreciation for Pastor Demetri? That's good, ain't it? Good.
-
Thanks so much for tuning in.
-
We hope that you've been encouraged by today's episode, and we have one final challenge for you.
-
Take something that you've learned today or something that stuck out to you and share it with a friend or a loved one.
-
Spread a little of what I like to call that wisdom wealth with someone else.
