  1. First Thessalonians, First Thessalonians One Paul, Sylvanus and Timothy to

  2. the Church of the Thessalonians. In God, the Father and

  3. the Lord Jesus Christ, Grace to you and peace. We

  4. give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly

  5. mentioning you in our prayers, remembering before our God and

  6. Father your work of faith and labor of love and

  7. steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

  8. For we know, brothers loved by God, that He has

  9. chosen you, because our Gospel came to you, not only

  10. in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit,

  11. and with full conviction. You know what kind of men

  12. we prove to be among you for your sake, and

  13. you become imitators of us and of the Lord. For

  14. you received the Word in much affliction, with the joy

  15. of the Holy spe so that you became an example

  16. to all the believers in Macedonia and in Akeaia.

  17. For not only has the Word of the Lord sounded

  18. forth from you in Macedonia and Akaia, but your faith

  19. in God has gone forth everywhere, so that we need

  20. not say anything, for they themselves report concerning us the

  21. kind of reception we had among you, and how you

  22. turned to God from idols to serve the Living and

  23. True God and to wait for his son from heaven,

  24. whom he raised from the dead, Jesus, who delivers us

  25. from the wrath, to come first Thessalonians two. For you

  26. yourselves know, brothers, that our coming to you is not

  27. in vain. But though we had already suffered and been

  28. shamefully treated at Philippi, as you know, we had boldness

  29. in our God to declare to you the Gospel of

  30. God in the midst of much conflict. For our appeal

  31. does not spring from error or impurity, or any attempt

  32. to deceive. But just as we have been approved by

  33. God to be entrusted with the Gospel, so we speak

  34. not to please man, but to please God, who tests

  35. our hearts.

  36. For we never came with words of flattery, as you know,

  37. nor with the pretext, for greed God is witness. Nor

  38. did we seek glory from people, whether from you or

  39. from others. Though we could have made demands as apostles

  40. of Christ. But we were gentle among you, like a

  41. nursing mother taking care of her own children. So, being

  42. affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with

  43. you not only the gospel of God, but also our

  44. own selves, because you have become very dear to us.

  45. For you remember, brothers, our labor and toil.

  46. We worked night and day that we might not be

  47. a burden to any of you. While we proclaim to

  48. you the gospel of God. You are witnesses and God also.

  49. How holy and righteous and blameless was our conduct towards you, believers,

  50. For you know how, like a father with his children,

  51. we exhorted each one of you and encouraged you and

  52. charged you to walk in a manner worthy of God,

  53. who calls you into his own kingdom and glory.

  54. And we also thank God constantly for this, that when

  55. you received the word of God which you heard from us,

  56. you accepted it not as the word of men, but

  57. as what it really is, the Word of God which

  58. is at work in you believers.

  59. For you, brothers, became imitators of the churches of God

  60. in Christ Jesus that are in Judea. For you suffered

  61. the same things from your own countrymen as they did

  62. from the Jews, who killed both the Lord Jesus and

  63. the prophets, and drove us out and displeased God and

  64. oppose all mankind by hindering us from speaking to the

  65. gentiles that they might be saved always to fill up

  66. the measure of their sins. But God's wrath has come

  67. upon them at last.

  68. But since we were torn away from you, brothers for

  69. a short time in person, not in heart, we endeavored

  70. them more eagerly and with great desire to see you face.

  71. To face, because we wanted to come to you, Aye Paul,

  72. again and again.

  73. But Satan hindered us.

  74. For what is our hope or joy or crown of

  75. boasting before our Lord Jesus at his comingly, is it

  76. not you? For you are our glory and joy first

  77. Thessalonians three.

  78. Therefore, when we could bear it no longer, we were

  79. willing to be left behind at Athens alone, and we

  80. sent Timothy, our brother and God's co worker in the

  81. Gospel Christ, to establish and exhort you in your faith

  82. that no one be moved by these afflictions. For you

  83. yourselves know that we are destined.

  84. For this, For when we were with you, we kept

  85. telling you beforehand that we were to suffer affliction, just

  86. as it has come to pass, and just as you

  87. know for this reason, when I could bear it no longer,

  88. I sent to learn about your faith, for fear that

  89. somehow the tempter had tempted you and our labor would

  90. be in vain.

  91. But now that Timothy has come to us from you

  92. and has brought us the good news of your faith

  93. and love, and reported that you always remember us kindly

  94. and longed to see us as we long to see you.

  95. For this reason, brothers, in all our distress and affliction,

  96. we have been comforted about you through your faith. For

  97. now we live if you are standing fast in the Lord.

  98. For what thanksgiving can we return to God for you?

  99. For all the joy that we feel for your sake

  100. before our God, as we pray most earnestly night and day,

  101. that we may see you face to face and supply

  102. what is lacking in your faith.

  103. Now, may our God and Father himself and our Lord

  104. Jesus direct our way to you, and may the Lord

  105. make you increase and abound in love for one another

  106. and for all, as we do for you, so that

  107. He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our

  108. God and Father. At the coming of our Lord Jesus

  109. with all his saints. First Thessalonians four. Finally, then, brothers,

  110. we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that

  111. as you received from us how you ought to walk

  112. and to please God, just as you are doing that,

  113. you do so more and more. For you know what

  114. instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus. For this

  115. is the will of God your sanctification, that you abstain

  116. from sexual immorality. That each one of you know how

  117. to control his own body in holiness and honor, not

  118. in the passion of lust, like the gentiles who do

  119. not know God. That no one transgress and wrong his

  120. brother in this matter, because the Lord is an avenger

  121. in all these things, as we told you beforehand and

  122. solemnly warned you.

  123. For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness. Therefore,

  124. whoever disregards this disregards not man but God, who gives

  125. his Holy Spirit to you.

  126. Now, concerning brotherly love, you have no need for anyone

  127. to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught

  128. by God to love one another. For that, indeed is

  129. what you are doing to all the brothers throughout Macedonia.

  130. But we urge you, brothers, to do this.

  131. More and more, and to aspire to live quietly, and

  132. to mind your own affairs, and to work with your

  133. hands as we instructed you, so that you may walk

  134. properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one. But

  135. we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about

  136. those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as

  137. others do who have no hope. For since we believe

  138. that Jesus died and rose again, even so through Jesus,

  139. God will bring with him those.

  140. Who have fallen asleep.

  141. For this we declare to you by a word from

  142. the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left

  143. until the coming of the Lord, will not proceed those

  144. who have fallen asleep, For the Lord himself will descend

  145. from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice

  146. of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet

  147. of God.

  148. And the dead in Christ will rise first.

  149. Then we who are alive who are left, will be

  150. caught up together with them in the clouds to meet

  151. the Lord in the air, and so we will all

  152. always be with the Lord.

  153. Therefore, encourage one another with these words.

  154. First Thessalonians five Now concerning the times and the seasons, Brothers,

  155. you have no need to have anything written to you,

  156. for you yourselves are fully aware that the day of

  157. the Lord will come like a thief in the night.

  158. While people are saying there is peace and security, then

  159. sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come

  160. upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

  161. But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day

  162. to surprise you like a thief. For you are all

  163. children of light, children of the day.

  164. We are not of the night or of the darkness.

  165. So then let us not.

  166. Sleep as a do, but let us keep awake and

  167. be sober.

  168. For those who sleep sleep at night, and those who

  169. get drunk are drunk at night. But since we belong

  170. to the day, let us be sober, having put on

  171. the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the.

  172. Hope of salvation.

  173. For God has not destined us for wrath, but to

  174. obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us,

  175. so that whether we.

  176. Are awake or asleep, we.

  177. Might live with Him. Therefore, encourage one another and build

  178. one another up, just as you are doing.

  179. We ask you, brothers, to respect those who labor among you.

  180. And are over you in the Lord, and admonish you,

  181. and to esteem them very highly in love because of

  182. their work. Be at peace among yourselves.

  183. And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idly, encourage the fainthearted,

  184. help the weak, be patient with them all. See that

  185. no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek

  186. to do good to one another and to everyone. Rejoice,

  187. always pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances, for

  188. this is the will of God in Christ Jesus.

  189. For you do not quench the spirit.

  190. Do not despise prophecies, but test everything.

  191. Hold fast what is good, Abstain from every form of evil.

  192. Now, may the God of Peace himself sanctify you completely,

  193. and may your whole spirit and soul and body be

  194. kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

  195. He who calls you is faithful, he will surely do it.

  196. Brothers, pray for us, greet all the brothers with a

  197. holy kiss.

  198. I put you under oath before the Lord to have

  199. this letter read to all the brothers. The grace of

  200. our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
