  49. living Word. So in the name of Jesus, I asked

  50. Lord that you were open our ears so that we

  51. will listen. And then Lord, we asked that you'll prick

  52. our hearts to be in tune with you as well. Lord,

  53. we asked that you bless your manservant as he prepares

  54. to share from your holy word, thus said the Lord.

  55. Then Lord, we asked that when it's all said and done,

  56. that will look back on tonight and know that you

  57. have been with us and it was good to have

  58. been here. In Jesus' name, that all God's children say together, aymen, at.

  59. Least be seated. We've got a group that will be

  75. He touched me, He touched me and the.

  76. Joy that loves my soul.

  77. Something will happen, and he touched me and.

  78. Me hey man, thank you beautiful song. Well, friends, it's

  79. time for your Bible questions. And you know how this works.

  80. If you'd like to give us a Bible question, seezy,

  81. just scan the QR code again. We're putting it up

  82. on the screen. Those here and also those who are

  83. watching at home, just scan that with your phone. It'll

  84. take you to the app where you can post your

  85. Bible question. Thank you for the more than a thousand

  86. questions that have been posted, and we've tried to collect

  87. them in different categories and pass it up tonight. We've

  88. got some great questions that are coming.

  89. Okay, pastor us, all right.

  90. Question number one. The Catholic Church believes that Peter was

  91. the first pope because of Matthew sixteen eighteen. Can you

  92. please explain matt I will sixteen verse eighteen.

  93. I'll do my best. Let's read this together. So Jesus

  94. is talking to the apostles and he says, who do

  95. men say that I am? And they said, well, some

  96. say this is Matthew fourteen. Some say you're John the Baptist,

  97. some Elijah, others Jeremiah or one of the prophets. I

  98. think that one of them had come back, and he said,

  99. but who do you say that I am? Simon. Peter

  100. answered and said, you are the Christ, the son of

  101. the Living God. And Jesus answered and said to him,

  102. blessed are you Simon Barjona, For flesh and blood has

  103. not revealed this to you, but my Father who is

  104. in heaven. And I also say to you that you

  105. are Peter. And on this rock I will build my church,

  106. and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.

  107. And so some interpret that to mean that Jesus was

  108. saying I'm going to build my church on Peter. That's

  109. not what he's saying. Christ is saying, you're Peter. And

  110. the word Peter there is petros. Petro says a rolling

  111. stone that gets moved around in the waves of the creek.

  112. He said, on this petra, I will build my church.

  113. What is the petra? The statement of Peter that thou

  114. art the Christ, the son of the Living God. Now

  115. was Jesus saying he was going to build the church

  116. on Peter. Keep reading here, it says that Jesus says,

  117. I'm going to go now, same chapter, I'm going down

  118. to verse twenty two or twenty one. Jesus said, I'm

  119. going to go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from

  120. the scribes and elders. I'm going to be killed al

  121. rise the third day, and Peter took him aside and said.

  122. Peter began to rebuke. Jesus said, Lord, far be it

  123. from you. This is not going to happen to you.

  124. But he turned and said to Peter, get behind me, Satan.

  125. So which is it? Is he the first popers? He satan?

  126. Jesus was not saying the church is built on Peter.

  127. Later Paul had to rebuke Peter for hypocrisy, because when

  128. the Jews were there, he acted like a Jew, and

  129. when they left, he acted like a gentile. So the

  130. gospel the church is built on Jesus Christ is the cornerstone.

  131. This is what Peter said Peter. No one else ever

  132. said the church is built on Peter's one of twelve apostles.

  133. All right, very good. Next question that we have is

  134. Mary Magdalene the same as Mary the sister of Lazarus.

  135. You cannot prove it definitively, but we have a lot

  136. of good reasons to believe. So. For one thing, both

  137. Mary the sister of Lazarus is also called Mary of

  138. Bethany because Lazarus and Martha lived in Bethany. Magdalene or

  139. Magdala was a seacoast town up by Galilee where the

  140. Romans with vacation the Roman soldiers, and it was like

  141. saying Mary of Vegas and Martha and Lazarus had a

  142. younger sister named Mary who got off track. She moved

  143. to Magdala. She had a bad reputation. The Bible says

  144. regarding both of them that they were considered women who

  145. were sinners. Simon said, if he knew, if Jesus knew

  146. who it was that's touching him, he wouldn't let that happen,

  147. for she is a great sinner. You never hear their

  148. names mentioned together. They both appear to be women of substance,

  149. and so we believe it's just Mary of Bethany, Mary

  150. Magdalen are the same Mary.

  151. Okay, next question that we have, what is the best

  152. way that I can pray for physical healing.

  153. Well, pray first of all for God's will. When you

  154. when you're a believer and you pray for healing, you're

  155. going to be healed. Now that healing might come with

  156. the glorified body, but you will be healed now. We'd

  157. like to be healed in this life. You realize that

  158. everybody that Jesus healed in this life eventually got old

  159. and died. So pray for healing and then cooperate. Sometimes

  160. our sickness is because of sin. Some people are sick

  161. not because of what they're eating, but what's eating them.

  162. It could be your attitude. Some people are unforgiving. Paul says,

  163. some of you are sick because when they have the

  164. Lord's Supper, they're not forgiving others, and they're eating the

  165. bread and drinking the grape cheese with an unworthy heart.

  166. So have a forgiving spirit, forgive others. In the Book

  167. of James is to pray for your sins to be forgiven.

  168. It might be a sickness that has laid you low,

  169. and you may want to call for the church elders

  170. to come and pray over you. Ask others to join

  171. you in prayer. Anointing you with oil. You might have

  172. a serious sickness, and that's not for a toothache. It

  173. talks about if any of you is stricken, that means

  174. you're laid out with sickness. You might call for the

  175. elders to come pray for you and anoint you with

  176. oil and so and pray in faith. Believe God has

  177. healed me many times through prayer, and I've seen many miracles.

  178. Taster Ross and I have participated in anointing some praying

  179. for people that literally had stage four cancer and they're

  180. still alive today is miraculous healing. So pray in faith

  181. and God does still heal.

  182. Amen.

  183. All right.

  184. Another practical question, Can we ask of God a sign

  185. like Gideon to know what we need to do?

  186. Well? Yes, you don't want to make it a habit

  187. of every time you're trying to make a decision casting

  188. a fleece or flipping a coin. There are times when

  189. you must choose between two good options before you get

  190. to asking for a sign. Do these things. See if

  191. there's any guidance in the Word of God that would

  192. give you direction and follow that. You might want to

  193. ask Christian counsel. The Bible says, in the multitude of counsel,

  194. there's safety. So find believers that you have a relationship

  195. with God that have wisdom and good judgment, ask for

  196. counsel from them. And finally, if you get to the

  197. place where you've got two good options and you just

  198. really don't know what to do, and you want to

  199. make sure you're doing the will of God, then you

  200. might say, Lord, give me some providential sign. And God

  201. will then often open a door, he will close the door,

  202. something happens. I'll tell you an interesting story. The first

  203. official call I had to be a pastor. I felt

  204. God was calling me to ministry. I had finished raising

  205. up a church in LaVita Mission in Waterflow, New Mexico.

  206. Once I raised the church up, I was not ordained.

  207. They said, we're bringing in a conference pastor from the

  208. Rocky Mountain Conference and I didn't know what to do.

  209. We had to move out for the pastor. And the

  210. day that we were moving, I just had no peace.

  211. We're moving back to California, and some of you have

  212. heard of the Heritage Singers. I had worked with him before.

  213. I was going back to work with the Heritage Singers,

  214. and I just the day the truck is loading and

  215. we are pulling away. I got a phone call from

  216. Cyril Miller, Doug, would you have any interest in coming

  217. to Texas and pastoring a church. It wasn't until the

  218. last minute. Sometimes you don't know what to do until

  219. the last minute. And so God opens doors and I

  220. knew right away. I said yes, And instead of going west,

  221. we went east. And God has opened a whole life

  222. of ministry from there on. So you know, God will

  223. guide you if you're willing to do his will, he

  224. will direct your paths.

  225. All right, Next question that we have. Some people use

  226. Luke seventeen, beginning verse thirty four to support the idea

  227. of a secret rapture. Can you please explain this passage

  228. Luke seventeen, verse thirty four.

  229. Yeah. I saw this coming, so I marked it in

  230. my Bible. Jesus is talking about signs of his coming,

  231. and he said, I tell you, and this is verse

  232. thirty four, that in that night they'll be let me see.

  233. In that night there'll be two men in one bed.

  234. One will be taken, the other will be left. Two

  235. women will be grinding together, one will be taken, the

  236. other left. Two men will be in the field one

  237. will be taken the other left. And they answered and

  238. said to him where Lord? He said, wherever the body

  239. is there the eagles and those are vultures will be

  240. gathered together. So they're saying, where are they taken? He says,

  241. where the dead body is. For the Jewish people to

  242. be taken was not always a good thing. He said,

  243. when you obey, I will let you stay in the

  244. Promised Land. When you disobey, you will be carried off.

  245. The speaking of Noah, it says the wicked the flood

  246. came and took them away. So sometimes we get the

  247. whole wrong idea and they build this whole secret rapture

  248. idea out of this. Now there's also a spiritual meaning

  249. to this. What does a woman represent? In Bible prophecy? Analogy?

  250. A church? Two women grinding the meal? They're grinding grain.

  251. What is the bread? Hint? Hint, Man doesn't live by

  252. bread alone, but by every word? Is the bread of life? Right,

  253. So you got two women they're working outwardly doing the

  254. same thing. One is lost, one is saved. Two men

  255. sleeping in a bed. How many people are what does

  256. sleep represent death? Our friend Lazarus is asleep. How many

  257. kinds of people are dead right now. Two the saved

  258. and the lost, Resurrection of life, resurrection of damnation. So

  259. you got he's just saying outwardly looking the same. One

  260. is saved, one is lost. It says, two men working

  261. in the field. What is the field in the parable

  262. of the sower, it's the world. They're out harvesting, doing

  263. mission work. You got the true and you got the false.

  264. That's all Jesus is saying there. So it has nothing

  265. to do with a secret rapture.

  266. All right, Next question, how does Islam playing to Bible prophecy?

  267. I really feel like I how to hand this over

  268. to you. But in Revelation chapters.

  269. Yeah, we talk about the fifth and the sixth company.

  270. Yeah, you see Islam, and I believe Islam may also

  271. play another role later in Last Day prophecy. I don't

  272. want to get too deep in this right now, but

  273. the principal religions in the world today is Christianity. Well,

  274. there's eight billion people in the world. Two point two

  275. billion approximately are Christians, meaning Protestants and Catholics. You've got

  276. one point seven billion Muslims. Those are the biggest religions.

  277. Then you've got Hindus and Animists and all the other

  278. religions fill in the rest. The two biggest religions have

  279. been at war four years, going back to the Crusades

  280. to the present day. I mean, what's going on in

  281. Israel right now. It's not a battle between just Israel

  282. and Gaza. There's a philosophy behind it that is religious based,

  283. and so I think it's going to play a role

  284. in the Last Day prophecy. But it certainly did in

  285. Revelation five and six in the trumpets.

  286. Crusae tem real of that. So, the fifth trumpet talks

  287. about the rise of Islam during the time of Mohammad.

  288. The sixth trumpet talks about the expansion of Islam under

  289. the Ottoman Empire, which came to an end in eighteen

  290. forty they surrender to the Protestant nations of Western Europe.

  291. There's actually a time prophecy in the sixth trumpet that

  292. points to eighteen forty to the exact date.

  293. If it gives the exact date when it would happen,

  294. and it happened.

  295. All right. Next question, this is a fun one passed

  296. ug Why did Jesus allow the demons to go into

  297. the pigs when he cast them out of the man.

  298. Yeah, that's a good question, you know. Uh, everywhere Jesus went,

  299. things lived, he healed, he gave life. But there's two

  300. occasions where he did something and something died. One is

  301. he cursed the fig tree, which seems really strange, but

  302. that's another question asked that later. The other time, he

  303. cast this legion of demons out of a man, and

  304. they say, don't cast us into the abusos. Then nothingness

  305. cast us into that herd of pigs on the hill,

  306. and he said go. And so this herd of pigs

  307. was filled with the demons. They went berserk. It was

  308. a high hill and a steep precipice, and they ran

  309. off the cliff like an avalanche of bacon, and they

  310. went crashing off into the water. This is the Sea

  311. of Galilee, that is not that big. And so if

  312. you get two thousand bloated pig carcasses floating around and

  313. washing up on the shore in a Jewish lake, that's

  314. called a toxic spill. And everybody around Israel was going

  315. what happened? And they all heard the story that Jesus

  316. cares more about people than pigs. And he casts the

  317. demon and by the way, they were not raising those

  318. pigs as pets. They're raising them as food. And God said,

  319. did you know they're unclean? All right?

  320. Another practical question, how can I keep my mind from

  321. drifting when I'm praying?

  322. Well, you're not alone. How many of you will confess

  323. that sometimes you're praying and your mind wanders. Sometimes it's

  324. the Holy Spirit guiding you to something while you're praying

  325. that he wants you to think about a lot of

  326. times it's not. Sometimes my mind is wandering and I'm

  327. thinking about things while I'm praying, and say, Lord, forgive me,

  328. why am I thinking of that? You know, when children

  329. are young, they have problems with concentration. As they get older,

  330. they become more disciplined. They learn how to study, they

  331. learn how to focus. It's a sign of maturity. It's

  332. the same in Christianity. When your mind wanders, bring it back,

  333. bring it back. You'll get better at staying focused in

  334. your prayers. Do not get discouraged. First of all, does

  335. the devil want you to pray? Can the devil put

  336. thoughts in your minds? Is he going to try to

  337. distract you when you pray? Yeah? So, when you pray

  338. and you see your mind wandering. The Lord is not

  339. going to say, well, I'm not going to listen to

  340. you anymore. Say Lord, forgive me and bring it back.

  341. He understands what we're dealing with. But sometimes it's God

  342. that's speaking to you in those quiet moments.

  343. What did Jesus mean when he said the Kingdom of

  344. God is within you in Luke chapter seventeen, verse two.

  345. Yeah, when Jesus began preaching, he said, the Kingdom of

  346. Heaven is at hand, the Kingdom of God is at hand.

  347. And for the Kingdom of God is at hand. You

  348. have two aspects to God's kingdom. You have a spiritual

  349. kingdom that begins at the moment that you invite Jesus

  350. into your heart to be your Lord, savior and King.

  351. He reigns within us, he's our master. Then you have

  352. a literal kingdom. When we pray in the Lord's prayer,

  353. Thy Kingdom Come, Thy will be done on earth. Ultimately,

  354. Christ is going to come back and he will reign

  355. as king of kings. That's one of the central themes

  356. in the prophecies of Daniel is this world will ultimately

  357. be led by the Kingdom of God. So there's a

  358. spiritual kingdom. When you become a Christian, you become an

  359. ambassador of another government. Now, you know, we kind of

  360. have dual citizenship in this world. If you're a Christian,

  361. you want to be responsible citizens, but our primary allegiance

  362. is as citizens of His kingdom. Amen, we'll talk a

  363. quick one.

  364. Maybe maybe, yes, I think we do. Does the scriptures

  365. indicate that there are other worlds besides Earth?

  366. Yes, we don't believe that humans are the only other

  367. creatures in the universe. The Bible says in Hebrews Chapter

  368. one that the Father through Christ made the worlds. Then

  369. you read in Revelation about all these other creatures in

  370. the heavens that are glorifying God, and so space is infinite.

  371. It's I think strange to believe that, through limitless time,

  372. that the only creatures that God made were here on

  373. this planet. I think right now we are quarantined because

  374. of sin, and that after we are cleansed from sin,

  375. we'll be ambassadors going through the universe telling all of

  376. God's unfallen worlds of his goodness, love and redemption.

  377. All right, again, we want to thank you for all

  378. of your great Bible Christians. We're going to put up

  379. that QR code one more time. If you'd like to

  380. post the Bible question, scan that QR code and you

  381. can just type in your Bible question. You can actually

  382. read some of the other Bible questions that have already

  383. been posted. And as you mentioned past the Dog, we

  384. try to group the ques by different topics so we

  385. can answer as many of these questions as possible. Well,

  386. right now we're gonna have another beautiful musical item. Jackie

  387. and Shame is bringing us the song before the Throne

  388. of God above, Before the.

  389. Throne of God above.

  438. heaven that were shattered here on the earth, and how

  439. does that teach us about the Gospel even today? That's

  440. our study this evening.

  441. Welcome once again to Prophecy Countdown. Friends. We're so thankful

  442. for each of you that have been coming so faithfully

  443. every night here in Crowley, Texas. I know people that

  444. are watching and going Crowley, Texas just think the suburbs

  445. of Fort Worth, but just a wonderful community. And we're

  446. just really thankful for your faithfulness in coming. And I've

  447. got some exciting news, more exciting for me than you. Missus.

  448. Bachelor is coming tomorrow. She's going to join us. She

  449. didn't know she's going to be able to make it,

  450. and so she'll be with me at the door following

  454. for the big finale weekend. I hope you're not going

  455. to miss anything. Now we have a meeting tonight, We

  456. have a meeting tomorrow night talking about the longest time Prophecy.

  457. It's going to kind of narrow down where we are.

  458. You don't want to miss that. And then we're going

  459. to be hitting some of the biggest, hardest, most interesting

  460. subjects Friday and Sabbath morning, and we have a special

  461. presentation Sabbath afternoon called the Unsinkable Ship. So I hope

  462. that you're going to stay with us and endure to

  463. the end. Those will be saved through the rest of

  464. the program. Tonight's study is very important, dealing with the

  465. restoring the Temple, and you'll understand this we proceed why

  466. this is such an important subject in our day and age. Well,

  467. I like to always begin with an amazing fact. You've

  468. maybe heard the expression a clean room, a clean room

  469. is a meticulously controlled environment that filters out pollutants like

  470. dust and air borne microbes and aerosol particles to provide

  471. a space with some of the purest air on Earth.

  472. Many companies have clean rooms to protect the production of

  473. products like semiconductors and antobots, medicine and medical equipment. In

  474. these virtually particle free rooms, outside air passes through a

  475. powerful system that decontaminates the air sometimes even adjusts the

  476. ozone level in the rooms while also controlling the pressure, temperature,

  477. and humidity. This is a big job because a human

  478. body in motion generates about I don't know who measured this,

  479. five million particles per minute. You're leaving pieces of you

  480. all over the place as you go around. This is

  481. why workers in clean rooms must wear special lind free jumpsuits, booties,

  482. fate face masks, and goggles, and is becoming more and

  483. more common in the places where they're making these very

  484. sophisticated computer chips that are almost the transistors are so

  485. small they're almost on the atomic level, and so they

  486. need to keep everything and all the equipment super clean

  487. and particle free. Now you know the first idea of

  488. a clean room came from a doctor Joseph Lister from

  489. Scotland back in the eighteen sixties, building on the work

  490. and experiments and discoveries of Lewis Pasteur. He was one

  491. of the first ones that realized the reason so many

  492. people were dying in hospitals was not so much because

  493. of the surgery, but because of bacteria and infection. Do

  494. you realize that the people that died during the Civil War,

  495. the fatalities could have been cut in half if they

  496. had incorporated some of the principles of lister Infection was

  497. just a plague. But he started realizing that you need

  498. to sanitize things. By the way, yes, he's the one

  499. who invented listerine. Joseph Lister. Now, when the Lord brought

  500. the children of Israel out of Egypt, he took what

  501. was originally a family with seventy people, the Clan of Jacob.

  502. They grew. The Bible says they multiplied, They multiplied greatly,

  503. They multiplied exceedingly greatly. They turned into a nation during

  504. that two hundred year period of time they were there

  505. in Egypt, and he needed to prepare them to be

  506. his holy people. He said, I want you to be

  507. a nation of kings and priests. I want you to

  508. be a light to the world. I want all nations

  509. to come to Israel and learn about the true God,

  510. like when the Queen of Sheba came to learn from Solomon.

  511. That was God's plan. The reason Israel is in the

  512. place where they are as God picked that land because

  513. it's the intersection of three continents. It's the crossroads of

  514. the world, and he wanted them to let their lights shine.

  515. So when he brought them out of the land of Egypt,

  516. they needed to learn some new things and they needed

  517. to unlearn. And it's still true of you when we

  518. become Christians, we need to learn some new things and

  519. we need to unlearn some things. After two hundred years

  520. of living as slaves in Egypt, surrounded by all the

  521. paganism and the weird ceremonies and the worship of the

  522. dead in Egypt, God did not bring them directly from

  523. Egypt to the Promised Land. Instead of going north, they

  524. went south to Mount Sinai. Moses went up the mountain

  525. there and he was up there for forty days and

  526. forty nights, not just getting the Ten Commandments, but he

  527. got a whole group of instructions on how they were

  528. to operate as a nation. There were health laws, there

  529. were civil laws, and they were given designs for building

  530. a sanctuary. And that's going to be the subject of

  531. our talk tonight. You might wonder, or how does this

  532. fit into prophecy? Stay with me, and I think you'll understand.

  533. After saving them from slavery, he needed to do something

  534. vital before he could take them into the Promised Land.

  535. Teach them how to be forgiven of their sins and

  536. how to maintain holy lives. Question number one, What did

  537. God ask Moses to build and why? Exodus twenty five,

  538. verse eight. God said, and you'll see it on the screen.

  539. You can say it with me. Let them make me

  540. a sanctuary that I may dwell among them. God wants

  541. to dwell among his people. We are going to dwell

  542. with the God through eternity in heaven, and this is

  543. a good practice place for that to start. And so

  544. the sanctuary. There are three temples in the Old Testament.

  545. In the Bible. You had one that was a portable sanctuary,

  546. sometimes called the tabernacle. Then you had the permanent one

  547. built by David. It was certainly the most glorious, No sorry.

  548. It was built by Solomon. David is the one who

  549. saved up the money and gave the design to his

  550. son Solomon. But it would have been classified as one

  551. of the wonders of the ancient world if Herodotus the

  552. historian had ever seen it. It was a magnificent facility.

  553. Queen of Sheba said it was breath taking. You ever

  554. use the expression breathtaking comes from the Queen of Sheba.

  555. There was no more breath in her when she saw

  556. what God had done with Israel. He wants to dwell

  557. with his people. Now, don't forget this verse Psalm seventy seven,

  558. verse thirteen. Your way, oh God, is in the sanctuary,

  559. the way of God, the way he saves us, the

  560. path of life is in the Sanctuary. In this simple

  561. building he illustrated the plan of salvation. And it is

  562. even a picture of Jesus. It's even a picture of

  563. the Church, in even the human body. I'll explain as

  564. we perceee the Bible, says one Peter one eighteen nineteen,

  565. knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things like

  566. silver or gold from your aimless conduct received by tradition

  567. from your fathers. But with the precious blood of Christ

  568. as a lamb without blemish and without spot. The sanctuary

  569. is where they brought their lands. It was the place

  570. of sacrifice, and through that whole system he taught the

  571. plan of salvation and the whole process of redemption. Now,

  572. Pastor Doug, this is a prophecy countdown program. Why are

  573. we talking about the sanctuary because many of the prophecies

  574. in the Bible took place in the context of the sanctuary.

  575. Jesus in Revelation chapter one, he appears among seven candlesticks.

  576. Where do you see that? That was in the holy

  577. place of the sanctuary. It talks about the altar of incense.

  578. In Revelation that was in the same pad, talks about

  579. the ark of Covenant. That's in the sanctuary. In Ezekiel,

  580. read the last three chapters, it's all about the sanctuary.

  581. Isaiah chapter six, he has a vision. He sees God

  582. on his throne in his temple. It's in the sanctuary.

  583. And I could go on and talk about Exodus and Leviticus,

  584. and I could talk about Zachariah and other prophets. So

  585. much happens in the teachings of Jesus in the context

  586. of the sanctuary, and it plays out in prophecy in

  587. the last days. Don't miss tomorrow night. There's a big

  588. time prophecy that has to do with the sanctuary. A

  589. lot of people misunderstand the role of the sanctuary. A

  590. lot of my evangelical friends, they're waiting for the Jews

  591. to rebuild the Temple Sanctuary. You realize it's called Temple Sanctuary, tabernacle,

  592. same thing. They're waiting for the Jews to rebuild it

  593. because the Antichrist is going to reign there for three

  594. and a half years. And that's what many believe. I

  595. respectfully disagree. I think that's that they misunderstand. Let's find

  596. out what the Bible says. But before we go to

  597. the Word of God, it's fun to go out on

  598. the street. See what do people know about what do

  599. they think about sanctuary. The worst sanctuary means to me

  600. is probably something very sacred in my life.

  601. Not something that is not I don't want to say

  602. like secret, but genuine.

  603. Your family could be a safe sanctuary, or your home

  604. could be a safe sanctuary from like the outside elements

  605. from the outside world.

  606. Sanctuary just means like a safe haven where people can

  607. go and be with other people who need support.

  608. Not much because I'm not really religious, but I know

  609. for some people it means a lot, so I'm fine

  610. with that. The word sanctuary to me means a special

  611. place where I can come in closeness with Jesus.

  612. I'm just gonna say, I don't know for right now.

  613. I don't know that one.

  614. If I remember correctly, the Levites to go before God

  615. do sacrifices for atonement for the Israelites.

  616. Well, actually I don't know.

  617. Yeah, I believe that's what the sanctuary is, is where

  618. the ark of the Covenant was kept, because that's what

  619. was where God physically manifested on the earth, or something

  620. along those lines. Personally, I believe that if you are

  621. in a sanctuary, well, first of all, if you have

  622. a specific place of worship, it kind of helps you

  623. enter that worshipful mode, if I can use that term.

  624. Personally, I find worship easier when there's not people around

  625. me trying to dictate or feeling like I have to perform.

  626. First of all, I think it's a community of people

  627. who believe in the same thing, and it's really important.

  628. It shouldn't know, I don't think it should, but some

  629. people probably believe that it does.

  630. I would say, no, I don't do so. I don't

  631. think so.

  632. I don't think it's not affect people's fate.

  633. I think it's going to increase it.

  634. Maybe. Well, I want you to know that I did

  635. not pick the people that our media people. They went

  636. out and they just went to a couple of campuses

  637. and asked random people that were willing to participate, what

  638. are your thoughts. The one thing we learned from this

  639. is that the ideas again are all over the place,

  640. and people really don't understand, which is sad because the

  641. subject of the sanctuary is in the Bible from Exodus,

  642. which is the second book to Revelation, and yet people

  643. know so little about this. Now, how many of you

  644. have heard the term in recent times in the news

  645. sanctuary city. You know where that came from the Bible,

  646. Because in Bible times they had what they called cities

  647. of refuge that if a person accidentally committed manslaughter unintentional killing,

  648. that rather than the family come and the avenger of blood,

  649. a family member would then say I'm going to get venge,

  650. they would go and they could flee to one of

  651. these six started out with six sanctuary cities ended up

  652. seven because Jerusalem became one, and they'd flee to one

  653. of these sanctuary cities, and the priests in the cities,

  654. the levines, would protect them until there was a fair trial.

  655. You didn't get away with murder, but you would be

  656. protected until the priest could give a fair trial, and

  657. you might have to stay there until the death of

  658. the high priest. They also had a law that you

  659. could flee to the sanctuary in Jerusalem, and if you

  660. got into the courtyard and you got a hold of

  661. the horns of the altar, you were pleading for mercy.

  662. And it was like, and if you ever play you know,

  663. what do you call it? The hide and seek where

  664. you go to home base, And it was like, if

  665. you could get to homebase, you were safe. And you

  666. can see we're ada Niger. When he thought Solomon, his brother,

  667. was going to kill him, he fled to the sanctuary.

  668. He got a hold of the horns of the altar,

  669. and Solomon said, okay, we'll spare him if he proves

  670. himself a worthy man. So sanctuary cities the way they're

  671. using that now. It used to be that if you

  672. were in a church and you had not committed any

  673. federal crime that you had certain protection. The churches were

  674. to be places of sanctuary, and then they expanded it

  675. to cities of sanctuary. But they totally misunderstand what the

  676. Bible is talking about. When we study the subject of

  677. the sanctuary. Our question number two, let's get right into it.

  678. Where did Moses obtain the blueprints for the sanctuary? God

  679. told him there on Mount Sina. I see to it

  680. that you make them according to the pattern which was

  681. shown you on the mountain. The sanctuary, the tabernacle that

  682. Moses built there on earth was a pattern of a

  683. very real dwelling place of God in heaven. If you

  684. read the Book of Hebrews, it's very clear that Christ

  685. is our high priest that has entered into the presence

  686. of God. He has served in a heavenly sanctuary not

  687. made with man's hands. It's a miniature of picture of

  688. the dwelling place of God and the inner sanctum. On earth,

  689. the Holy of Holies had golden wallpaper, and there are

  690. angels all over the walls engraved. Now in heaven, does

  691. God have golden wallpaper or are they real angels? The

  692. earthly sanctuary you had the ark of the Covenant, which

  693. the mercy seat was like the throne of God. There

  694. were two cherubs there. They're called the covering cherubs. When

  695. Isaiah has a vision of God on his throne, are

  696. they golden or are they real angels? Real seraphim? And

  697. so it is a miniature picture. Any of you when

  698. you were kids, get one of these matchbox cars, you

  699. play with little matchbox cars. You know the company that

  700. makes those, They actually are very meticulous about making them.

  701. They are one fiftieth the size of the original. They

  702. scan the original car. Now they do it with lasers

  703. and they reduce it down to the size. So they

  704. are scale, but they're greatly reduced. So when you think

  705. about God's dwelling place in heaven, it's nothing like this

  706. building that you could fit on a football field. It

  707. is light years in size. It's much much bigger because

  708. God is much much bigger. The Bible says the earth

  709. is his footstool, So you got a thing big when

  710. you think about the creator of the cosmos. But this

  711. miniature was to teach them about the planet of salvation.

  712. The Bible says, which is a copy This is Hebrews

  713. eight five, which is a copy and a shadow of

  714. the heavenly things. As Moses was divinely instructed when he

  715. was about to make the tabernacle, for he said, see

  716. that you make it all things according to the pattern

  717. shown you on the mountain. So was the sanctuary moses

  718. idea or God's? Did Noah design the ark or did

  719. God give him the design? God designed it? The God

  720. designed the sanctuary. So we've got to pay careful attention.

  721. There's a lot of detail here that teaches us things.

  722. So this is here an artist's concept. It gives you

  723. an idea, sort of a three D view. You can

  724. look inside the sanctuary. You really had three parts. You

  725. had what you called the courtyard. There was one door

  726. in Jesus said, I am the door. How many ways

  727. to life are there one? How many entrances to the ark?

  728. One door? Chause that I am the way, the truth

  729. and the life. There was The first thing you saw

  730. then was the altar of sacrifice, where the lamb or

  731. the goat was sacrifice. Then there was a laver of water.

  732. Then you entered into the holy place where you had

  733. the candlestick and the bread and the altar of incense.

  734. Then you had the final room, the inner Sanctum, the

  735. Holy of Holies, which was where the ark of the

  736. Covenant was, that had the ten commandments. Now these three things,

  737. it's almost like a cell of life that contains these

  738. three parts. There there are three parts to salvation. Salvation

  739. is composed of three or big theological words we call justification, sanctification, glorification.

  740. Justification means you come to the Lord just like you are.

  741. You're not saying God, if I'm good enough, will you

  742. accept me? You come just like you are, okay. Justification

  743. means you come to him and He looks at you

  744. just as if you had not sin, just as effication

  745. if that helps you remember, So you come to Him

  746. through the blood of the Lamb. You are forgiven. Then

  747. you enter the second phase is the Holy Place, and

  748. that's called sanctification. There were three things in there. There

  749. are three rules if you want to be sanctified, if

  750. you want to grow as a Christian. It's not that complicated.

  751. There was the light, There was the bread. There was

  752. the altar of incense. The light be a witness. Let

  753. your light shine, the bread, read the Bible, the altar

  754. of incident us prayer, and I'll show you the scriptures

  755. that tells us what these things represent. If you want

  756. to know what are the secret weapons to growing as

  757. a Christian? Eat the bread of life. Pray, let your

  758. light shine. If you want a baby to grow, feed them,

  759. make sure they don't stop breathing. That's prayer, and they

  760. get exercise. That's sharing your faith. That's witnessing. Baby doesn't

  761. worry about growing. They need occasional cleansing, and so do we.

  762. They do those things, they will grow, right, you will

  763. grow as a Christian. So you've got the Christian disciplines

  764. in the first apartment, that's what you call the holy place.

  765. But then you get into the Holy of Holies. That

  766. would be this is your Holy of Holies. This is

  767. how God speaks to us. And that's where the presence

  768. of God was. That's where the law of God was.

  769. And ultimately we go into the third phase called glorification.

  770. So the children of Israel, they were justified by sacrificing

  771. a lamb in Egypt. God taught them how to be

  772. holy in the wilderness. Then they entered the promised land

  773. glorification in Israel. See, you got Egypt justification, sanctification, wilderness glorification.

  774. You've got the promised lamp. So you've got these three phases.

  775. It's all outlined here in the sanctuary. We're not done.

  776. Wait this more. Get your credit card out. We'll double

  777. your offer. Number three. What furniture was in the courtyard.

  778. It says you shall burn the whole ram on the altar.

  779. It is a burnt offering to the Lord. So when

  780. someone came into the sanctuary, they would take their sacrificial victim,

  781. if a goat, it could be a lamb, the most expensive.

  782. We lack an oxen, but it had to be a

  783. clean animal. They placed their hands on the head of

  784. that animal. They would confess their sins, symbolically transferring their

  785. sins to the goat or the lamb or the sheep.

  786. Now do you realize this is a symbol. A goat

  787. can't take away your sin, or a lamb? What can

  788. wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

  789. They all knew it was a symbol of the Messiah

  790. that would come. That's why John the Baptist pointed to Jesus, said,

  791. this is the lamb of God that takes away the

  792. sin of the world. They all understood the sacrificial system

  793. was pointing forward to when God would send the Messiah. Okay,

  794. so first thing was the altar, and this is a

  795. symbol for the cross. The altar burnt offering was where

  796. animals were sacrificed just inside the courtyard. It represented the

  797. sacrifice of Christ where he went through his fiery trials

  798. for us. Then the next thing is they had a

  799. lab with water, and this symbolizes the cleansing baptism. You know,

  800. after Jesus died, they pierced his side and blood and

  801. water came out, and the children of Israel, after they

  802. had the pillar of fire that appeared. Then they went

  803. through the red sea. Jesus said, you must be born

  804. of the water and born of the fire. We're born

  805. of the spirit, and we're born through baptism. It's through

  806. a choice you make to come to God and a

  807. choice God makes to fill you with his spirit. So

  808. you need both baptisms. That was in the courtyard, that

  809. water the priest would cleanse there. You know. Josephus, the

  810. Jewish historian, he said, the most amazing thing that was

  811. a constant miracle. In spite of the fact they had

  812. sacrifices and blood and animals, there were never any flies

  813. in the sanctuary. I'm just telling you what he said

  814. that if it's true, it's quite a miracle. So they

  815. had a bronze labor with the water in it where

  816. the priest would wash. This is a symbol for baptism.

  817. And again as you come to the Lord, first you

  818. accept Jesus and you learn the teachings, and then it

  819. says you go teach all nations, baptizing them. You got

  820. the altar, the sacrifice, the labor symboling a washing from sin.

  821. Now you enter a new phase in the Christian life, sanctification.

  822. You're learning how to be a saint. You know. Paul

  823. calls the church members saints. You know in the Catholic Church,

  824. they say the saints or canonize, our special group of

  825. people that we pray to. That's not what the New

  826. Testament teaches. The New Testament says that when you are

  827. washed from your sin, you repent of your sins, you're cleanse,

  828. you become one of the saints of God. In spite

  829. of occasional failings, you are still referred to. Paul refers

  830. to the church members as the saints. That's because Christ

  831. has forgiven us. He's washed us. So you get the sanctification.

  832. What three items of furniture were in the Holy Place. Well,

  833. first you had this table of they call it showbread,

  834. twelve loaves, one for each of the twelve tribes. And

  835. on the table of showbread they shall spread a blue cloth,

  836. and the show bread will be on it. What does

  837. that bread represent. It represents Christ said, I am the

  838. bread that came down from Heaven. And it represents the

  839. word of God. Jesus said, man shall not live by

  840. bread alone, but by every word. And when we pray

  841. the Lord's prayer, give us this day our daily bread.

  842. We're not just talking about food. Most of you don't

  843. worry from day to day about food, but I hope

  844. you're getting your daily bread. We need the word of

  845. God every day. Amen. The Bible says Daniel morning, evening

  846. and at noon while I pray. I actually just quoted

  847. Psalm fifty five seventeen. But in Daniel chapter six, verse ten,

  848. three times a day he would pray, we should have

  849. regular times of communion with God. That's what it means

  850. to walk with God. Jesus is the bread of life.

  851. And then you have the lamb stand with seven candlesticks,

  852. and that's seven represent God gives you light every day

  853. of Amen? And who does it represent? The seven branch

  854. candlestick represented Jesus, who is the light of the world.

  855. But notice each one of these things not only represents Christ,

  856. it represents the Church. Jesus not only said I am

  857. the light of the world. But what does he say

  858. in Matthew chapter five, You are the light of the world. Now,

  859. you and I don't have any light of our own.

  860. But like the moon reflects the light of the sun,

  861. we in our lives should reflect the light of Jesus. Amen.

  862. We ought to be mirrors that are reflecting his light.

  863. I remember hearing a story one time about this boy

  864. that was on streets in one of the projects in

  865. New York City, and he had one of these little

  866. hand mirrors and he was taking the sun and he

  867. was shining up in the window. And the policeman went

  868. by and he said, that's cute, he says, but you

  869. really shouldn't be irritating people like that. He said, oh, sir,

  870. I'm not trying to irritate anybody. He says, I've got

  871. a brother that lives up there. He's crippled, and because

  872. there's buildings all around, he never sees the sun. So

  873. I come down every now and then and I shine

  874. the sun up into the window for him. Some people

  875. never see the Son of God, and the only way

  876. they're going to see him is in you. We need

  877. to reflect Jesus in our lives. You and I are

  878. the light of the world, reflecting Christ, or where I

  879. should say, we are reflecting the light of the world.

  880. And then you got oil that went through the lamp

  881. pipes that kept the candlestick burning. What is that oil?

  882. Now you notice there's scriptures for all of these. Pastor

  883. Doug is not just making these things up. Scriptures tell

  884. us what these things represent. Revelation chapter four, verse five,

  885. Zachariah four to one through six. The oil in the

  886. lamp symbolizes what the Holy Spirit. And when a pastor

  887. or elders anoint a person because they're sick, they anoint

  888. them with olive oil supposed to peak. Don't use lard.

  889. That totally misses the picture. There should be pure olive

  890. oil that they're anointed with, and it's a symbol for

  891. the Holy Spirit. That and Christ is called the anointed.

  892. That's what the word Christ christal. When you christen a ship,

  893. the needs the splash Champagne on it. But the word

  894. Christian means to annoint something. When you go to the

  895. beach as a kid and your parents slather you with sunscreen,

  896. they are anointing you. That's what that means, to annoint.

  897. The Hebrew word is Messiah messieur. The Greek word is Cristos.

  898. And so Jesus is the anointed. And when he was baptized,

  899. he came out of the water. What happened The Holy

  900. Spirit came down. But dinn't Jesus also say he promised

  901. the Holy Spirit to come upon us. John the Baptist said,

  902. I baptize you with water, But the one who's coming

  903. after me, he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit

  904. and with fire. We need that oil as well. Amen.

  905. It's the most important thing we should pray for. Jesus said,

  906. if you, being evil, know how to give good gifts

  907. to your children, And how much more will your Father

  908. in Heaven give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

  909. Every day? We should be asking for the Holy Spirit.

  910. Before I come out here and talk to you, I

  911. know I have no business talk to you unless God

  912. is speaking. I get on my knees and I say, Lord,

  913. speak to your people, give me the Holy Spirit. Then

  914. you have the altar of incense. Now, if you're a

  915. Bible student, you might wonder the altar of incense most

  916. of the year was inside the Holy Place on the

  917. day because and they would put incense on it, and

  918. this beautiful frank and sense or murrh, the smell would

  919. waft over into the presence of God, representing the prayers

  920. of the people going before God. And it's the death

  921. of Jesus that makes our prayers acceptable when we pray

  922. in his name, it's like this incense. But on the

  923. day of Atonement once a year, when the high priest

  924. went in, he also brought a censer with incense that

  925. he would take and some scholars say they would then

  926. move the altar into the Holy of Holies just during

  927. that time. So he was interceding with the prayers of

  928. God's people. If you've noticed that, that could be the

  929. explanation for that confusion. It represents the prayers of God's people.

  930. Exodus thirty one through eight, Revelation five, verse eight. Those

  931. are the Christian disciplines. Number five. Fasten your seat. Well,

  932. this is going to get interesting. I might even lose

  933. some of you before I'm done. That always gets people's attention.

  934. But it's true. What special article was in the most

  935. holy place he wrote on the tablets according to the

  936. first writing, the Ten Commandments, this is the contents of

  937. the Old Covenant, and it is the contents of the

  938. New Covenant. That contents of the old Covenant is a

  939. ten commandments written on stone. The new Covenant is he

  940. writes his law in our heart. The ten Commandments are

  941. summarized in love. First four commandments talk about our love

  942. for God. The last six commandments talk about our love

  943. for our fellow man. The two great commandments are love

  944. the Lord with all your heart, Love your neighbor as yourself.

  945. It's a cross. It's this love relationship, and it's this

  946. love relationship. And always have fun doing that because I

  947. feel like the pope talking about it's the vertical love

  948. relationship and it's the horizontal love relationship. So that was

  949. in the Holy of holies. This is the word of

  950. God written by the finger of God. Is the holiest

  951. of all. What is a foundation for all we believe.

  952. It's the word of God. And the ultimate expression of

  953. God's word is the Ten Commandments that he wrote. If

  954. you can't remember any of the Bible, but you remember

  955. to keep the law of love, then you've got it made.

  956. And you know what sin is. Sin is our problem

  957. breaking the law. Sin is the transgression of the law.

  958. So the fact that we could someday come back into

  959. the presence of God. You notice the whole sanctuary is

  960. it's a straight line. You go through the door, you

  961. got the altar, you've got the labor. You walk into

  962. the holy place, one door in, go through sanctification. Then

  963. you walk into the presence of God, and someday we

  964. will see him face to face. Amen, And Jesus is

  965. the Lamb. It is only the blood of the Lamb

  966. that they brought all the way in. It is through

  967. the blood of Christ that we go in. And the

  968. Bible says you shall put the mercy seat. This is

  969. the lid. This was a symbol for like the Throne

  970. of God, where those two angels, this chicina shining glory

  971. would appear. Moses would talk to God, he'd come out

  972. from the Holy of Holies. His face was shining so

  973. bright they had to put a veil over him because

  974. no one could even look at him. Can you imagine

  975. that talk about a movie star. He was shining so

  976. bright they couldn't even look at him us it were

  977. sunglasses or he veiled his face, and on top of

  978. the chest of the mercy seat was covering those two

  979. angels face each other, desiring to look within at the

  980. word of God. It symbolized the throne of God in heaven,

  981. the presence of God. You'll find that in Isaiah chapter six,

  982. in his vision number six. The Bible says God's sanctuary

  983. was holy Leviticus sixteen thirty three, And so was Jesus life.

  984. How should his followers live? All right, here's where it

  985. gets interesting. First, Peter, this is New Testament. First Peter,

  986. Chapter one, verse fifteen and sixteen. As he who called

  987. you is holy, you also be holy in all of

  988. your conduct, because it is written, be holy, for I

  989. am holy. Now you don't hear a lot of sermons

  990. on this, friends, but Jesus not only saves you from

  991. the sin v occasion. We need to go into the

  992. second phase and allow Him to make us holy in

  993. the wilderness. In this life. After you come to Christ,

  994. we need to learn to live a different kind of life.

  995. We need to forsake the old way, forsake the old heart,

  996. and it's a battle. Sometimes you need to unlearn the

  997. things of Egypt. I need to learn a new economy

  998. of what it means to live a holy life. You know,

  999. Jesus said, destroy this temple made with hands, and in

1000. three days I will make one without hands. What was

1001. he talking about? The Church? The body of Christ. The

1002. Bible says you and I are the temple today. Peter says,

1003. we are living stones in that temple. Actually, Paul says

1004. that in Ephesians, the Bible tells us that Jesus is

1005. the cornerstone that we build upon through the writings of

1006. the apostles and the prophets, and so God has a

1007. temple in the world today. The Church is that temple,

1008. and we are a nation of kings and priests. And

1009. He has called us to holiness, to living differently. And

1010. I'll tell you, friends, if ever we need it, we

1011. need it now because the world is the devil's been

1012. practicing wickedness for six thousand years. The good news is

1013. where sin abounds, grace abounds much more so. It is

1014. possible for us to live differently even in a wicked world. Amen.

1015. The Bible says you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood,

1016. a what all holy nation, his own special people. He

1017. has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

1018. We should not be living lives of darkness when Jesus

1019. calls us. Don't be discouraged. If you fall short and

1020. you sin, you get back up and you keep following

1021. the way. The children of Israel made it to the

1022. Promised Land. They made a lot of mistakes on the way.

1023. They had to keep following Number seven. What was to

1024. be the guiding principle for the clothing God's priests would wear. Now,

1025. since we're a nation of priests, was there something different

1026. about how the priest dressed? Notice what it says you

1027. shall not. It says you shall make for them linen

1028. trousers to cover their what nakedness. They shall reach from

1029. the waist to the thigh. Nor shall you go up

1030. by steps to my altar? You know, like in some

1031. of the ancient religions, the pyramids, and you look at

1032. the steps in the Inca Pyramids, they'd walk up these

1033. steps and people could kind of look up their skirts.

1034. And God said, that's not how you approach my altar.

1035. It was on level ground it's less their nakedness be

1036. exposed on it. Now, where did nakedness first become a problem.

1037. In the garden of Eden, Adam and Eve sinned. Now,

1038. they were not streaking around the garden blissfully naked and

1039. just oblivious. It says they were naked and unashamed because

1040. they had garments of light. They had robes of glory,

1041. just like Adam. When Moses talked to God, he was glowing.

1042. And when Jesus talked with Moses and Elija in the mountain,

1043. they were glowing. And the Bible tells us that when

1044. they sinned, the light faded, and suddenly they felt the chill,

1045. and they became ashamed. They knew something was wrong, and

1046. they tried to cover their nakedness with what fig leaves,

1047. And the Bible says they made aprons. I made this

1048. picture in Ai. It's not accurate. I can't show you

1049. an accurate picture and a g rated audience. The Bible

1050. says they made aprons of fig leaves. They were wearing bikinis.

1051. God said, for one thing, you've got the wrong material,

1052. and you don't have nearly enough material. Says God then

1053. instituted the sacrificial system. He killed some innocent lambs, and

1054. that nothing had ever died before, even before Cain a

1055. lamb died. It says he covered them with skins, and

1056. it says he gave them tunics, and the word tunic

1057. there is a robe he cover their nakedness, and that's

1058. when the sacrificial system was begun. Now I'm comfortable. Now

1059. we've tried to control the temperature in here. How many

1060. of you comfortable? You're not too hot, not too cold.

1061. Not that we want you lukewarm. That's a whole different

1062. Bible sermon. Well, why don't you take off your clothes? Now?

1063. I'm not asking you to, but because of modesty, right,

1064. don't we all agree if someone should start walking around

1065. in your stark naked, would we call the authorities? We'd

1066. say they need help. There was this man running around naked,

1067. a demoniac, and after Jesus cast off the devils, he

1068. says he was sitting in a the feet of Jesus clothes.

1069. Before Jesus he was naked. The devil made him naked.

1070. The Bible tells us that Adam and Eve, after they

1071. encountered the devil, they were naked. You can read in

1072. the Bible about these this man that fell among thieves,

1073. the story of the Good Samaritan, and that's the devil

1074. robbed them, stripped them, beat him, and left him naked.

1075. You can read about these seven sons of one of

1076. the Jewish priests. They wanted to cast out devils in

1077. the name of Jesus. So they went to this demon

1078. possessed man. Seven young men. They went to one demon

1079. possessed man, and they said, in the name of Jesus,

1080. who Paul preaches. They didn't know Paul, They didn't know Jesus.

1081. They just wanted to be exorcists, and so they said,

1082. in the name of Jesus that Paul preaches, come out,

1083. and the demon laughed at him and said, I know Jesus,

1084. and I know Paul, but I don't know you. And

1085. the devil jumped on them, beat all seven of them,

1086. and they left wounded and naked. You ever catch that part.

1087. The devil wants to shame us. So many people don't

1088. come to church because they're a shame. Jesus wants to

1089. take away your guilt and shame because you become a

1090. new creature. Old things are passed away. But there's a

1091. reason that we wear clothes, and I don't want to

1092. make anyone self conscious. We want you to come to

1093. this meeting to come in your work clothes. You're welcome.

1094. But when we gather together before God to worship Him

1095. on the Sabbath day, we ought to remember we're worshiping

1096. a holy God, and we ought to make sure that

1097. whatever we're wearing is long enough and high enough and

1098. loose enough to cover business. Amen. And the church does

1099. not issue measurements. The Holy Spirit. You got it. Your

1100. mirror is going to tell you what to do. You

1101. realize that men and women, men probably more than women

1102. based on statistics, are attracted to the figures of the

1103. opposite sex. Do you know that? Don't act like you

1104. don't know what it means to dress sexy? I mean,

1105. you know, so all this advertising talks about dressing and

1106. being sexy. Should Christians try to dress sexy? Does Jesus

1107. say if a man looks on a woman to lust

1108. after her in his heart, he's committed adultery with her.

1109. So and especially young girls, they kind of know that

1110. all of a sudden something's happened to the boys around them,

1111. and they start to exploit that. And it might be

1112. one sin for them, But how many are they causing

1113. to sin through the day by the way they dress?

1114. And it works both ways. Men need to be careful too.

1115. But you don't hear this very often, do you. Christians

1116. should be modest, doesn't mean you need to dress in

1117. a burka, but use common sense. Amen number eight. Does

1118. the Bible discourage believers from wearing jewelry and fancy clothing?

1119. I told you I'm going to get specific. But if

1120. it's not in the Bible, don't listen to Pastor Doug. Okay,

1121. if it's in the Bible, pay attention first Timothy two

1122. verse nine, in like manner, also that the women and men,

1123. of course, adorn themselves in modest apparel, not with braided hair.

1124. And there's nothing wrong with braiding your hair. It's very practical.

1125. When they would braid their hair there and he's talking

1126. about they would braid gold chains in their hair, it

1127. was very exotic, says, not with broidered hair or gold

1128. or pearls or costly clothing. I don't know if you

1129. remember a few years ago a lot of televangelists got

1130. into trouble because of their attire and that everything was gilded.

1131. And someone wrote a song. Would Jesus wear ro Lix?

1132. And they used to make fun of the televangelists begging

1133. for everybody's money. And they're driving in fancy cars and

1134. flying jets here and there, and Christians should be modest.

1135. How did Jesus dress? They didn't even recognize him, because

1136. you look like a normal carpenter. Do not let your

1137. adorning be it a mere outward adorning, the arranging of

1138. the hair, the wearing of gold, or the putting on

1139. a fine apparel. Rather, let it be the hidden person

1140. of the heart, with an incorruptible beauty, of a gentle

1141. and a quiet spirit, which is very precious in the

1142. sight of God. The children of Israel they made a

1143. golden calf? What did they make it out of their jewelry?

1144. And they have the same problem then we have today.

1145. It says they broke off the ear rings from their

1146. sons and their daughters and they made a golden calf. Now,

1147. I'm not trying to condemn anybody here, but I play

1148. it safe. I just don't wear any and I know

1149. that in judgment, dey, Jesus is not going to say

1150. to me, Doug, I can't let you in. Why Lord

1151. you didn't wear nearly enough jewelry. Oh, but Lord, it

1152. was a cross. Did Jesus say to wear the cross

1153. or to bear the cross? All right, I'll stop right there.

1154. In that day Isaiah three eighteen. The Lord will take

1155. away the finery, the jingling anklets, the pendents, the bracelets.

1156. He's talking about the daughters of Israel that are proud,

1157. and the veils and the headdresses, and the leg ornaments,

1158. and the headbands, and the perfume boxes, and the charms,

1159. and the rings and the nose jewels. A lot of

1160. this ancient jewelry was associated with paganism, and did Adam

1161. and even the Garden of Eden. Do you think they

1162. were wearing that stuff? In heaven? The streets are made

1163. out of gold. Right now, the angels look down and

1164. wonder why people are wearing asphalt. Now, gold is beautiful.

1165. Jewels are beautiful, But do we want to advertise that

1166. by wearing it? Number nine? What, by the way, when

1167. Jacob went to meet before the Lord at Bethel, it

1168. says they buried the pagan gods and the jewelry that

1169. was in their tribe. It buried it. And so when

1170. God said to the Israelites, break off your ornaments that

1171. I can know what to do with you. God's people

1172. become proud, and we start to look like the world.

1173. There should be a difference, you know, Revelation I told

1174. you it's prophecy. Revelation chapter twelve. You've got God's church.

1175. What is she wearing light? In Revelation seventeen? The counterfeit church?

1176. What is she wearing gold pearls, costly array? There's a difference. Amen.

1177. Oh wait, I'm jumping too fast. Number nine, What common

1178. sense rule did God have for priests? Where a nation

1179. of kings and priests and kings and prophets to maintain

1180. holy conduct, do not drink wine or intoxicating drink. God

1181. is calling his people to holiness. You know your sons

1182. with you when you go into the tabernacle of meeting,

1183. lest you die. It shall be a statute forever throughout

1184. your generations. And two of the sons of Aarons went

1185. in intoxicated before the Lord Fire came down from God

1186. out of heaven and destroyed them. So is that a

1187. serious offense? It is not for kings, not only priests,

1188. but kings. And you are a nation of kings and priests.

1189. It's not for kings, Oh Emmanuel to drink wine or

1190. for princes intoxicating drink unless they drink and forget the

1191. law and pervert justice of all the afflicted. And what

1192. does it say about John the Baptist. It says he

1193. shall drink neither wine nor strong drink, so he shall

1194. be filled with what the Holy spirit. You drive down

1195. the street, you'll see stores and it'll say beer, wine

1196. and spirits. That isn't the Holy spirit. It's the other

1197. spirit that comes in alcohol. It causes a lot of misery.

1198. Now I had to update my statistics. It used to

1199. be outlcohol caused fifty percent of the traffic fatalities, not

1200. to mention people in jail and the crimes and the

1201. birth defects and their domestic violence. Alcohol is often connected

1202. with that. But then I found out that now alcohol

1203. only accounts for thirty percent. The other is texting distracted driving.

1204. Now I have no scripture on that, but don't do it.

1205. So Christians should not drink. You know, it lowers your

1206. resistance to temptation. God communicates through your brain he wants

1207. you to have all of your faculties. Amen. By the way,

1208. the Mother of John the Baptist. The angel said, do

1209. not drink any strong drink. You're going to have the

1210. strongest child that ever lived. It actually has some physiological reaction.

1211. I guess number ten. Did God make a distinction regarding

1212. which animals they talked about drinking? Let's talk about eating.

1213. Does God make a discinction regarding what animals his people

1214. could or could not sacrifice and or eat? Noah when

1215. he built the ark. By the way, how many here

1216. related to Noah? About half of you. I want to

1217. find out where the other half come from. We've heard

1218. a lot about aliens lately. Noah built the arc. He

1219. took of every clean animal and the birds and offerings.

1220. They were brought by seven. In the arc, he made

1221. an offering of the clean animals. They unclean came two

1222. by two. The clean animals came by sevens. What made

1223. an animal a mammal clean? Two laws? It needed a

1224. cloven hoof, and it chewed the cud. Those two things,

1225. and so these are the two categories two rules among

1226. the mammals. If you're going to eat them, cloven hoof,

1227. chew the cud. Can't be one without the other. Because

1228. the camel choose the cud, but it's got a paw.

1229. That's why Jesus said. The hypocrites were the scribes and

1230. Pharisees that were straining their water so they got no gnats,

1231. no bugs in their water. Then they'd have camel steak.

1232. They said, you're straining thent and you're swallowing a camel

1233. which is unclean in the water. It needed fins and scales,

1234. two criteria, and I'll make it very quick for you.

1235. Among the mammals needed hove, clothing, hoof and chew the cud.

1236. Among the birds, they need to be the foraging birds.

1237. That would be your chickens, your quail, your turkey. You know,

1238. they go around, they scratch, they peck all of the

1239. birds of carrying the raptors, the crows unclean. The fish

1240. needed fins and scales. So what would be forbidden for food? Pigs? Now,

1241. most of you don't have skunks in your freezer or camels.

1242. Most of you don't have most of the things that

1243. are unclean, but boy, pork is a very popular food.

1244. Bible Christians, Jews, Muslims, they know the Bible clearly forbids it.

1245. If you didn't know it. Pigs are scavengers. They're in

1246. the same category of dogs. They can be cute, they

1247. can be smart. They can also be a minute, I

1248. know that you've got a plague of pigs in Texas,

1249. don't you. Of hogs it's come to California. Have just

1250. started appearing on our land too, and they're just rooting

1251. up and wrecking the ground. But you realize, pigs will

1252. eat anything. That's why they call them pigs. They're garbage cans.

1253. They're not to be food how much If you remember,

1254. this little piggy went to the market, this little piggy

1255. stayed home. This little piggy had roast beef. A pig

1256. will not even eat pork. They eat roast beef. Rabbits

1257. are unclean. In the waters, you would have your shell fish,

1258. your shark, the scavengers, the animals that live in the bottom.

1259. They're unclean. Fins and scales, and there were certain insects.

1260. You could eat, grasshoppers. But I don't think any If

1261. you have a problem, some of you are going to say,

1262. wait a second. Peter had a vision. God declared all

1263. foods clean. He said that sheet came down full of

1264. creepy crawleys. God said arise and eat. Peter said, not

1265. so Lord, this is Acts Chapter ten. Not so Lord,

1266. I've never eaten anything common or unclean. That ought to

1267. settle it for you. Three times this vision, this sheet

1268. comes down, God says to Peter, arise and eat three times.

1269. Peter says, not so Lord, Your word forbids it. I've

1270. never eaten anything common or unclean. Jesus had never told

1271. him he could do it. Then the sheet goes up

1272. to heaven. He never takes anything from the sheet and

1273. eats it and eats it. While Peter is wondering what

1274. does the vision mean, some gentiles come to his house

1275. and say, will you preach the gospel to us? Well

1276. up till then the Jews thought the gentiles were unclean. Peter,

1277. recounting the vision, later says, God has shown me not

1278. to call any mia n unclean. That's a strange way

1279. to spell pig. He said, God has told me not

1280. to call any man unclean. The vision had nothing to

1281. do with food, and yet I've heard so many preachers

1282. abuse this vision. He never ate anything unclean. It's he

1283. was saying the gospel should go to the gentiles. Amen.

1284. Now you might have a question about What about when

1285. God says in Timothy in the last days, some will

1286. arise saying certain foods shouldn't be eaten. Write it down,

1287. will answer it tomorrow or whenever you send it. In

1288. number eleven, why does God say that eating unclean food

1289. is a serious offense? Do you not know that your

1290. body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who is

1291. in you, whom you have from God. God wants us

1292. to be holy. He wants us to be healthy. A

1293. lot of disease is because people are not eating what

1294. is good. Do you not know that you are the

1295. temple of God and that the spirit of God dwells

1296. in you. If anyone defiles the temple of God him,

1297. will God do what? Destroy it? And you think, no,

1298. it can't be that serious. I mean, as long as

1299. you pray over it, it shouldn't matter. By the way. That's

1300. first Corinthians three, sixteen and seventeen. How many of your parents,

1301. how many of you care what your kids eat? But

1302. as long as they pray over it, they should be

1303. able to eat. You know, sugar frosted flakes and cocoa puts,

1304. count dracula and chocolate chips with ice cream for breakfast.

1305. And if you said, oh, no, no, that's not good,

1306. they'll say, but I'm gonna pray. Would you accept that? No,

1307. because you know God is not mocked. What you sew,

1308. you're going to reap. And if you sow pork chops,

1309. you're gonna reap a heart attack. If you sow a

1310. lot of cholesterol, you're gonna reap it. You can get

1311. triconosis and all kinds of disease from these unclean animals.

1312. And now I'm a vegetarian. I have been for forty

1313. five years, and I'm in pretty good shape. For nine grandchildren.

1314. I used to be able to do a back handspring

1315. on stage straight that I don't know if I'm going

1316. to do that because I don't know what the ambulance

1317. response time is here in Crawley, Texas. But let's see,

1318. I'll do that. I can both both ladies. I can

1319. go back and forth. So that's sixty nine years old.

1320. Pastor Ross and I. We still play racquetball in the morning.

1321. He'll tell you I moved pretty quick for a grandfather.

1322. So the idea that you can't be healthy and be

1323. a vegetarian, it's a myth. Friends. Now some of you

1324. ought to look on YouTube. I did a YouTube it's

1325. got over a million views with one of our members,

1326. doctor Scharfenberg. He's over one hundred years old, going strong

1327. right now, he's probably over one hundred and two. And

1328. he'll tell you following the Bible principles. Here, you've got

1329. a skeleton smoking. Do you realize that is smoking is

1330. the number one avoidable cause of death in the world.

1331. It's just in vaping. Now. Tobacco is deadly and it's dangerous.

1332. Does it matter? Look at what it says Isaiah sixty six,

1333. verse fifteen. Does God care for? Behold, the Lord will

1334. come with fire and with chariots like a whirlwind. Those

1335. who sanctify themselves, they say, oh, well, we're going to

1336. sanctify ourselves eating swines flesh. You realize that's pork in

1337. the abomination in the mouth. So next time you think

1338. about pork, think about rats. They're in the same category Biblically.

1339. They will be consumed together, says the Lord. Your body

1340. is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Do not bring

1341. unclean offerings into God's temple, not only because you want

1342. to honor God. You know, if you read in Daniel

1343. chapter one, a Book of Prophecy. The first thing it

1344. establishes in Daniel chapter one, they refuse to eat the

1345. Babylonian diet and be defiled, and they were risking being killed.

1346. The king says, I'm allowing you to be part of

1347. the Babylonian university and eat from our cafeteria, and you

1348. are turning down. They said, give us ten days, and

1349. you see if we are not healthier than the people

1350. that are eating the Babylonian food. Ten days later, it

1351. says they were not only fair and fatter of flesh.

1352. That meant that you're not going to get fatter. It

1353. meant they had just come across the desert. They were

1354. healthier looking, and when Nebu Kinezer interviewed them, they were

1355. ten times wiser. And that chapter closed us by saying

1356. Daniel lived until the time of Cyrus. Daniel lived to

1357. about one hundred years of age. It begins with their

1358. choosing to treat their bodies like the Holy Spirit or

1359. like a temple of God, and God filled them with

1360. the spirit. If you don't think it makes a difference

1361. what you eat, why are we in all the trouble

1362. we're in today? Because God told Adam and Eve, don't

1363. eat that, and they did. So. If you think that

1364. your heavenly Father doesn't care what you eat, just pray

1365. over it and it doesn't matter what crawls across your plate.

1366. That's not what the Bible teaches Number twelve what Christian

1367. cheese to think about. Whatever things are true, it's not

1368. just what comes into our mouths, it's what comes into

1369. our minds. That's what makes for holiness. Friends, Amen, whatever

1370. things are true, noble, pure, good, virtuous, think on these things.

1371. King David said, I will set nothing wicked before my eyes.

1372. God is calling us to be careful about what we

1373. allow to come into our minds. Set your minds on

1374. things above, not on things of the earth. There should

1375. be a holiness. Sin originates not just with an action,

1376. it's an attitude in our minds and our hearts. In

1377. the days of Noah, the entire world was destroyed because

1378. the men, the thoughts of men's hearts were only evil. Continually,

1379. it can begin in your thinking, what does the Bible

1380. say about worldly behavior? Where for my friend, whoever rather

1381. wherefo're therefore, who wants to be a friend of the world,

1382. makes himself an enemy of God? Come out from among

1383. them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch

1384. what is unclean, and I will receive you. God wants

1385. us to live holy and pure lives. Come out from

1386. what is unclean and impure. And I hope you'll choose

1387. now to come to Jesus. Say, Lord, I accept your justification.

1388. Will you now sanctify me? Teach me how to live

1389. a holy life? Is that your desire? Friends, Lord, I

1390. want to be pure. Father in Heaven, give us purity

1391. of heart, you said, the pure in heart will see you.

1392. We want to be with you in that kingdom. Lord,

1393. help us make these practical changes in our lives that

1394. we might have more abundant lives and be better witnesses

1395. for you living temples. We ask in Christ's name. Amen, God,

1396. Let's when is our next meeting? Friends? Tomorrow night decoding

1397. the longest Bible prophecy, come bring you friends. You'll be

1398. glad you did. Thank you and God bless
