-
Today, we are going to pray from Psalm 40, verse 8.
-
It says, I desire to do your will, my God.
-
At its deepest level, obedience is not simply about doing what is right.
-
It is about delighting in the one who leads you.
-
As your love for God grows, obedience becomes less about obligation and more about a relationship.
-
Following God becomes a joy because you trust his heart.
-
Spend a few moments thanking God for inviting you into relationship with him.
-
Think on the joy and freedom that come from walking closely with Jesus and thank him.
-
Or maybe you felt convicted that you can't remember the last time you considered what is God's will in your decision making in daily life.
-
This is something we are all growing in as we live our life with Jesus.
-
His desires become our desires as we are changed by his love.
-
Today let's pray and ask God to deepen our love for him and awareness of his will in our lives.
-
Bring before him any areas where obedience has felt burdensome or difficult.
-
Invite God to transform duty into delight and fear into trust.
-
Ask him to spark that desire in you to seek out his will.
-
Ask him to help you follow him with a willing and joyful heart.
-
Now sit quietly and enjoy God's presence for a moment.
-
Let gratitude and trust fill your heart as you rest in Him.
-
God loves you and is making you into the image of Jesus day by day.
-
Father, thank you for leading us with wisdom and love.
-
Lord, we choose to follow you with joy.
-
Lord, cultivate in us a desire to do your will and awareness of your presence this week.
-
Amen.
