And another round of applause for Dave Shirk. That's an
-
amazing shirt. Pastor Eddie and your beautiful wife and family
-
and all the folks from Living, what is it? Word
-
of Life. Welcome. It's like a homegrown family here. And
-
I'm stirring in my heart what I'm supposed to do
-
because I'm thinking. You ever heard of freestyle? You know
-
what freestyle is? So they use it in what, like
-
skateboarding and all kinds of sports, right? Might go a
-
little freestyle tonight, so I've got something prepared. So I
-
want to start with defining a big word that I
-
had to look up. I kind of had an idea.
-
Prophetic synchronicity. Can you all say that? You have to
-
be pedagogical. It'll help you speak in tongues. Synchronicity. Yeah,
-
and it You know, it really is a good, Dave
-
was grasping something there about how we synchronize our earthly
-
walk with the immortal life that we have inside of us, right?
-
You're immortal. You're stuck in flesh like we all are.
-
But your true self is born again. You're one spirit
-
with the Lord. And we're in a constant battle, Galatians 5.
-
The flesh and the spirit are in opposition. But there's
-
those beautiful times when the spirit of the Lord comes
-
and helps synchronize our walk, His purposes, what we're going through,
-
and bring them together. So, I don't preach off my
-
phone that often, but I just went off without the internet. So,
-
we're going to start in Ecclesiastes chapter 3. I'm going
Ecclesiastes 3 chapter mention
-
to read just a few verses out of that text. Ecclesiastes,
-
that's almost as hard to say as synchronicity, but we're
-
going to look at the synchronicity of Ecclesiastes. Wow. You're
-
probably very familiar with this text. It's a very popular text.
-
For everything, there's a season and a time for every
-
purpose under heaven. Just camp on that for a minute.
-
We're going to look at these words. For everything, say everything.
-
I like talking churches. It's going to be a talking church. Everything,
-
there is a season. Zeman in the Hebrew means an
-
appointed occasion. Something And then there is a time, a
-
little word eth in Hebrew, a time for every purpose
-
under heaven. It's all under heaven. Everything that's going on
-
is under the superintendency of God the Father. He sees everything.
-
He's in charge. Everything that's happening, every season, every time,
-
every purpose is under God's eyes. Then Solomon gives us
-
an understanding of what he means when he talks about
-
to everything there's a season. There's a time for all purpose.
-
And he lists 28 different times. The next verse is
-
2 through 8. Can we read them real quick to
-
remind you? A time to be born and a time
-
to die. Any questions? It's kind of like, that's what
-
Dave and I were saying too. There's three certain things.
-
Being born, dying, and taxes. Right? Is that what we say?
-
All right. Death and taxes. Okay. A time to plant,
-
a time to pluck up what is planted. Now, notice
-
there's extremities. There's like beginning and ending to all these seasons.
-
Time to kill, time to heal. Time to break down,
-
time to build up. Time to weep and a time
-
to laugh in the same sentence. It's like, how can
-
we go through an emotion like weeping and then, but
-
there's also a time to laugh. You see how Solomon's
-
putting borders and bookends on these things we go through.
-
There's a time to weep, time to laugh. There's a
-
time to mourn, a time to dance. Time to cast
-
away stones, time to gather stones. How many know we're
-
lively stones? But how many know sometimes, and all pastors
-
know this, right, Eddie? It's good to cast a few
-
stones away. Sometimes, how many know God is the builder
-
of the church? Jesus said, I will build my church.
-
He's in charge of stone management. He's in charge. He
-
can move the stones wherever he wants to. Time to embrace,
-
time to refrain from embracing. That's for the youth group.
-
No embracing tonight. It's a youth meeting. To seek a
-
time to lose. It's a time to lose. Who wants
-
a time to lose? Well, what if you're on a diet?
-
That's a good time to lose, right? How you doing?
-
I'm in a time to lose. Oh, I'm so sorry. No, no, no.
-
I'm on a diet. It's time to lose. Time to lose. See,
-
it's all context. All these things have a personal context.
-
And then there's, wow, time to keep and time to
-
cast away. That's for when we declutter our house in
-
the spring, spring cleaning. A time to prepare, a time
-
to sow, a time to keep silence, a time to speak,
-
a time to love, a time to hate, in the
-
same sentence. A time to love, a time to hate.
-
You know, God actually hates some things. Proverbs, these six
-
things the Lord hates, a lying tongue, a hands that
-
set innocent blood, a proud look, all these things God hates.
-
So there's a time to hate, time to love, And
-
then a time for war and a time for peace.
-
We're going to eventually have a time of peace, an
-
eternal time of peace. I like the way he wrapped
-
that up. All these different seasons, 28 different seasons that
-
every human goes through, every church goes through these seasons.
-
You can apply it to the church. And so look
-
back at these words. And I want to just take
-
a minute. You don't have this one. Jeremiah 8, 7.
-
Just for a minute. Jeremiah 8, 7. Because in these
-
seasons of life, there's a requirement to know what God's doing.
-
There's a requirement to say, God, what do I do
-
in the season I'm now in? And every time you're
-
thrust into a new season, God requires something of you.
-
So we get a lesson from the birds tonight. How
-
many think you're going to learn something from the birds?
-
Julia has these beautiful bird feeders. There's all kinds of
-
wildlife out there, even a badger I heard. So, you know.
-
God gave us the animal kingdom to teach us humans.
-
We get a lesson from the birds in Jeremiah 8, 7.
-
Even the stork in the heavens knows her times. Now
-
we're seeing how to everything there's a season and a
-
time and all these different times. Well, it says, hey,
-
even the stork knows her times. The turtle dove, the swallow,
-
the crane, they keep watch the time of their coming.
-
That's another way to translate the word in birdology is
-
the time of their migration. They know when to migrate.
-
Birds know when to migrate. God coded them internally with
-
the ability to say, it's time. Seasons are changing. Now
-
it's time, what, to migrate, to move. Why do birds migrate?
-
Basically for two reasons. Number one, to find new food sources.
-
If they stay in a cold, frigid season too long,
-
the food sources dry up. Also, God moves birds into
-
a new place to go find a new nest. So
-
it's for new food sources. Ah, and reproduction. For nesting.
-
Two main drivers inside of a bird. It's time to go. Oh,
-
that's great. We're going, yeah. Aren't the birds smart? Yeah.
-
Then he says, but my people. Uh-oh. Now Jeremiah's comparing
-
the birds who know their times. He's comparing us, my people. Ha-ha.
-
They don't know the, what's the word up there? Judgment, rules, requirements.
-
The Hebrew word is mishpat. It means judgment. a legal word.
-
They don't know what God is legislating from heaven. Remember,
-
all these things take place under heaven where God is
-
in charge. He's ruling. He's reigning. My people don't understand
-
that when God legislates change in the earth, we've got
-
to move like the birds. We've got to be smarter
-
than the birds. We've got to say, it's time to change. RCF,
-
you've been through some great changes over the last few years,
-
and it's been a joy to watch you guys migrate.
-
I walked over here from Dave's, and I'm I walked
-
by the little building back here. Walked by going, can't
-
fit there anymore, Lord. Hallelujah. I mean, you had to
-
migrate from Virginia Lodge to this building over here. Now
-
you're at the college. Get ready. God's not going to
-
leave you where you are. There'll be times of migration.
-
My people don't know what God is requiring. So let's
-
go back to these words. Times and seasons. Time. This
-
is the word. 28 different times. E-T-H. Eth is the
-
Hebrew word. The similar word in the New Testament would
-
be kairos. And there's two words in the Greek for time. Kronos,
-
chronological time. And kairos time. Kairos is that appointed time.
-
It's a now time. It's a divine moment. That's where
-
prophetic synchronization comes in. Where we think with God's plans
-
for our lives and heaven and earth meet. That's what
-
we call it. Prophetic. When heaven and earth are communicating,
-
it's the prophetic dimension. And God knows where he wants
-
his people to be. God's superintending it all. And so
-
in these things, these times, we have to say, in
-
all these seasons, God is watching, superintending, and then he says,
-
it's time. Migrate. Move. So I'm going to now put
-
the word prophetic in there. It's one of our favorite adjectives, right, Dave?
-
Prophetic technology, prophetic this, everything's prophetic. So to everything there's
-
a season. What's a prophetic season? Well, a prophetic season,
-
do you like, in the UK, do you like good news,
-
bad news, or do you like the bad news first
-
and then the good news? How do you like it?
-
Bad news first, right? Yeah, let's just get it over with.
-
What's the bad news? Here's the bad news about a
-
prophetic season. It's an undetermined amount of time. We just
-
want to know. We want to put it on our
-
Google calendar. We need to know. We need to know.
-
Undetermined amount of time, but here's, ready for the good news?
-
Of limited duration. There's a start and a finish. We
-
just don't always know. And you know what? God in
-
his kindness doesn't tell us. See, we think we want
-
to know all these facts and details. God, give me
-
the details. He goes, no, you'd mess it up. You'd
-
mess it up. You'd worry. You'd try to figure a
-
way in it or out of it. But here's the
-
thing about prophetic season. Undetermined amount of time and with
-
limited duration in which God is bringing a challenge prophetically.
-
This is where the synchronization comes in. He brings a
-
challenge to us which is impossible to do without him.
-
It's beyond our ability. That's what a prophetic season is.
-
So prophetic time is similar. It's an undetermined period of
-
limited duration. But that's when God's working out a particular
-
phase of his purpose for you. That's why the word
-
purpose is so important in that sentence. In that prophetic time,
-
a time to weep, a time to laugh, What's going
-
on in this time? He says, I'm working out my
-
purpose in your life. I'm purposing something. So when you
-
look at the word purpose in the Hebrew, it's actually
-
got an action connotation in it. The word purpose in
-
the Hebrew means to bend or shape. To bend or shape.
-
When you look at that, for everything there's a season
-
and a time, For every purpose where God is bending us,
-
shaping us to be more like Christ. Shaping us, not
-
breaking us. He's bending us because we all need shaping, right?
-
Christ is being formed in us every day. Every season,
-
God says, I'm doing more shaping, right? More shaping, more bending.
-
So we go through these emotional times. We go through
-
the ups and downs. And so Solomon wisely then gives
-
us some insight on the purpose. What is the purpose
-
of a season? What kind of bending is God doing?
-
How do I handle it spiritually, prophetically, when I'm thrusted
-
to a new season? Sometimes you can plan for a
-
new season. Other times they show up unannounced. It just happens.
-
Sometimes it's a shock. It can be almost even tragic.
-
Something like, I didn't even expect this to happen, right?
-
But God's in it. Now watch what Solomon helps us with.
-
So purpose number one, what's the first purpose of a season?
-
Number one, verse nine, Ecclesiastes 3.9. What gain has the
-
worker from his toil? Or what profit? I've seen the
-
work or I've seen, King James says, I've seen the travail.
-
I've seen the task, the travail that God has given
-
to the sons of men. with which to occupy themselves.
-
Let me break that down. He gives all these seasons.
-
He goes, so what gain has the worker from his toil?
-
We're the workers. We're working in every season. There's a
-
work going on. And it can be toil. And Solomon,
-
you know, he's great at kind of like, what's going on, God?
-
He was always questioning, like, what's the meaning of this?
-
And vanity, vanity. And he goes, well, what gain has
-
the worker in these different seasons? He says, ah, I've
-
seen the travail. I like that word travail better. I've
-
seen the travail that God has given to the children
-
of men to be busy with. What should we be
-
busy with? Always first, prayer. You can't get out of it.
-
You can't wiggle out of prayer. It's the number one
-
work of the believer. And nobody else on the planet
-
can do it except us. Oh, there's lots of other
-
prayers going on to all kinds of gods. But our
-
privilege is to work the works of him who sent
-
Jesus to us. And we get to work alongside. So
-
this word, travail. I've seen the travail. Travail is a
-
birthing word. In the Old Testament, when Zion travailed, she
-
brought forth. So every time there's a season shift, God's
-
about to birth something. Something new in you. Something new
-
around you. Something new. And that's what gets you excited.
-
Even in one of those difficult seasons, like, oh, this season,
-
I didn't ask for it. It's like, God says, I'm
-
doing something. I'm birthing. Pray. Pray. Pray through. That's your work.
-
I love that. Be busy about the work. If you're
-
going to be busy, be busy praying, right? We should
-
busy ourselves. Secondly, it's the process in which God is
-
making something beautiful. Look at the next verse, verse 11.
-
He has made everything beautiful, watch, in its time. In
-
that time frame of those 28 different seasons, in that
-
one time, God is making something beautiful. Beautiful. Not necessarily
-
handsome and pretty, like we use those words for our
-
outer man. The true beauty of our life is inside
-
of us when Christ is formed in us. That's a
-
beautiful thing. You're going through something in a marriage. You
-
know marriage is going through some tension. Things are going on.
-
Christ is being formed. And then pretty soon there's breakthrough
-
and things happen. You go, oh my gosh, you're more beautiful.
-
We're all aging, right? But when Christ does a work,
-
it's beautiful. So we have to say, God, make something
-
beautiful in me. And here's the thing about when God
-
makes something beautiful, he puts something in you that's not
-
just for you. What's it mean? It means he's resourcing
-
you with something you didn't have before. He puts something
-
in you to make you more beautiful, more acceptable, more
-
attractive spiritually, and you get to give it away because
-
the kingdom of God is a giveaway kingdom. We give away.
-
We follow what God does, which is they just give
-
stuff away, right? So every season is full of new
-
resource for you so that you can share it with
-
somebody else. That's your testimony. How'd you get through that? Well,
-
let me tell you what God did. That's a beautiful thing. Yeah,
-
and you can have it. Let me pray for you.
-
So that's part of what a season is for. Number three,
-
he made everything beautiful in his time. Also, he's put
-
eternity into man's heart. Hmm. What's the purpose of a season?
-
To enlarge our heart for the lost. We've got to
-
look at lost people from an eternal perspective. And it's
-
so easy to just walk by people. I've walked by
-
people on the way here. Walked by. But we've got
-
to say, God, put more eternity in my heart. In
-
every season, we should have an enlarged view of the eternal.
-
And we should have more compassion for the lost and
-
the hurting. So that's part of what God's doing. but
-
eternity in a man's heart. Now the rest of verse 11, yet,
-
so that he cannot find out what God has done
-
from the beginning to the end. This is more bad
-
news for us mortals. We want to know. God, I
-
want to know beginning and end, end in between. I
-
want to know everything. I'm going to Google it right now.
-
We want to know. Even if it's artificial, I want
-
to know. Give me something. And Solomon wisely says, you know,
-
You can't find out what God is doing from the
-
beginning to the end. Again, it's his kindness. He doesn't
-
always tell you what he's up to. Because we both, like,
-
I don't want to go through that. He says, you're
-
going to have to trust me. We want to know.
-
He says, you'll find out at the end. The thing
-
about coming out of a season, you come out of
-
a season, and you get to look back and go, ah,
-
now I know. Now I see it. That's why I
-
have no hair up here. I'm always like, now I
-
see it. Now I see it. Now I see it.
-
I didn't see it. Now I see it, right? Yeah,
-
and it gives you perspective. And then you glorify God
-
and say, God, thank you. You all know people have
-
gone through difficult times, right? All kinds of things. And
-
you know what? Most Christians, when you get down to it,
-
they go, I wouldn't trade it for anything. What I
-
went through and what God brought me through, how I've
-
been able to help others, that's the goal. It's not
-
just about what God did in us. What can we
-
help other people with? So seasons are for eternal purposes.
-
Look at verse, we'll skip down now. Let's do verse 14.
-
I perceived, yada is the Hebrew, now this is like,
-
here's where the prophetic is. Every season, there's a prophetic synchronization.
-
In that season, there's a moment when you see, this
-
is God. See, even Solomon's perceiving now. That's kind of
-
an Old Testament word for prophetic insight. I perceive that
-
whatever God does endures. How long? God's doing an eternal work,
-
and that's not just to help us get through earth life.
-
Whatever God does endures forever. Watch this. Here's one more
-
kind of tough pill to swallow. I'm going to help
-
you out right now. Solomon's going to help us out.
-
I'm going to help your prayer life out. It's just
-
going to make it a lot easier. Ready? Nothing can
-
be added to it, nor anything taken from it. What?
-
If God's doing something that's going to last forever, He's saying,
-
don't mess it up. You can't add to it, although
-
you think you've got some great ideas, and you can't
-
take away from it. Wouldn't that be nice? But let's
-
just add the nice seasons, It's time to, all these
-
nice seasons. God, just pile it on, God. Then you're
-
going through a tough season. God, hurry. Get it over with.
-
Take this away. Take this away. Take him away. Take
-
her away. We want God to take things out of
-
our life when he's got an eternal purpose he's working.
-
You say, okay, Lord. And then at the end, I
-
love the way Solomon wraps it up. God has done it.
-
Any questions? Has Solomon mentioned the devil yet? Not at all.
-
Every season, every purpose, every shaping, everything that you think
-
you want to add and subtract, I got to know.
-
God says, Solomon goes, God has done it. Why? That
-
men may fear before him. It's all about walking in
-
the fear of the Lord. Because it does give you
-
a new perspective on Your reverence for God when you realize,
-
I can't change the season I'm in. I'd like to.
-
I've cried out. I've prayed. I've done everything. But God
-
has done it. And I'm just going to walk in
-
the fear of the Lord. What's so good about the
-
fear of the Lord? It's the beginning of wisdom. See,
-
that's the golden ticket. In your season, God has wisdom
-
for you. a perception, an understanding of God, an understanding
-
of your life, something you never had before, and it
-
comes from heaven. It's like James 3, right? The wisdom
-
of heaven is perfect and pure. It comes down. God
-
gives you a wisdom you never had before. And then
-
there's Psalm 3119. I'll just quote that. Great promise. Psalm 3119.
-
Jonathan's trying to get up there. He's trying to keep
-
up with me. Thanks, Jonathan. I'll give you a minute.
-
Psalm 3119. Look at He's fast. We talked about walking
-
in the fear of the Lord. Not afraid of him.
-
Not like, I'm afraid. I'm just going to stay in
-
my house, and then I won't stumble into a wrong season.
-
God knows where you live. It's not about, I'm afraid.
-
I'm scared. Walking in the fear of the Lord is,
-
I'm afraid to go through this without him. A fear
-
of the Lord is like, I need God right now.
-
I'm afraid I'm going to mess it up, so I've
-
got to get close to Jesus. I've got to get
-
close to Jesus. So Psalm 31, 19. Thank you, Jonathan. Oh,
-
how abundant is your goodness, which you've stored up for everybody. Nope.
-
Which you've stored up for those who fear you, right,
-
and have worked for those who take refuge in you. See,
-
when you go through a season, you better know where
-
your refuge is because it's not always an easy season.
-
It could be a storm of life, whatever. You take
-
refuge in God and you walk in the fear of
-
the Lord. What does he have? Abundant goodness stored up
-
for you. God doesn't run out of goodness just because
-
you're going through a tough season. He says, oh, I
-
got plenty in my storehouse. I'll pour out goodness and
-
mercy and all that. So perhaps you're going through some things.
-
Take a moment yourself and say, God, help me understand
-
the season I'm in. Help me walk through it with you,
-
close to you. Give me wisdom. When you go into
-
a new season, suddenly like, I wasn't ready for this.
-
What do we need? Wisdom. God, give me wisdom, right?
-
In my ripe old age, I'm still praying for a
-
lot of wisdom. God, help give me wisdom so I
-
know how to get through the season and give it
-
away to other people. One of the joys of getting older,
-
I turn 70 this year, one of the joys is
-
continually having opportunities to share with younger men and women.
-
My wife and I had a prophetic development group this
-
past year. It's just fun to help them raise up
-
their prophetic gifting and share our wisdom and our experience.
-
I'm mentoring a couple of guys at my church and
-
I just love it. One guy, I just love him
-
because he comes with a notebook full of questions. I
-
just come, I just get coffee and sit there and
-
keep them coming. And I just share. This is what
-
I've learned. This is what we do. I just love that.
-
So wherever, whatever sees you're in, God's bending you. Shaping you,
-
serving you into more Christ-likeness. And you will get through it.
-
Because it's His goodness. It's for eternity. It's not for
-
just now. So, a lot of you, I'm looking around.
-
Let me just, a show of hands. Who's received a
-
prophecy from me in the last 30 years? Most of
-
you have. I'm just looking around going, no, man. I
-
prophesied over a lot. I prophesied over you. Haven't I?
-
We're taking roll, Lettie. Okay, Lettie. I want to just
-
add one little thing here, just some encouragement, because I
-
know a lot of you have had prophetic words. In fact,
-
I was just talking with Eddie just before. They're working
-
through a prophetic word right now, and that is part
-
of that, going back to, I've seen the work that
-
God has given the sons of man to occupy with.
-
Part of our work, our prophetic synchronization is working what
-
we say, working through a prophetic word. Because God downloads
-
his prophetic intention, and then we have to walk with
-
him to see it fulfilled. We have to synchronize our
-
life with the new instructions. Because a prophetic word comes,
-
it's like, huh, I didn't think of that. God goes, precisely.
-
That's why you've got a prophecy. So I'm speaking something
-
into your life that you don't have expected. It's another season.
-
But God sets you up so that when that season comes,
-
then you can pray through it. So in the prophetic,
-
we get words. They're full of potential, right? Full of
-
divine energy, we say. And the energy stays. The capacity
-
to fulfill stays as long as you walk in obedience,
-
as long as you walk in relationship and sync, okay?
-
We synchronize our mortal life with a prophetic. Then God's
-
going to bring divine energy to fulfill that word. In
-
its time. That's the other thing that's really hard about
-
the prophetic. Because God is outside of time and space.
-
God sees the whole thing. Remember, God sees beginning to end.
-
Isaiah 46.10. God knows the end from the beginning. And
-
Solomon says, you won't. But isn't God kind when he
-
gives you a little video clip of coming attractions? A
-
prophet goes, you know, I just see this happening in
-
your life. And you sit there going, I don't see
-
that at all. That's because the movie hasn't come out yet.
-
But God says, here's a little clue of what you're
-
going to be doing. And then we can start working
-
it in prayer. Start what? Bending, shaping, building. I always
-
say this, when God gives a prophetic word, he then
-
goes to work building the capacity inside of you to
-
fulfill it. Let's say you've got a young person who
-
has a call to be a missionary to the nations.
-
It sounds like a wonderful word, right? Woo-hoo! That's what
-
we want, these big high-octane words that are full of voltage.
-
God's calling him to the nations to be a missionary.
-
And you're like, I don't even have a passport yet.
-
What he's going to do is say, now, for the
-
next 15 years, I'm going to build missionary in you.
-
I'm going to build missionary capacity in you. You think
-
of young David who was called in from the field.
-
He didn't even get invited to the prophetic meeting. Comes in.
-
Samuel's looking up the other sons of Jesse going, I'm
-
looking for a king. I don't see king in anybody.
-
I'm looking for king. He's got these big, strapping, strong
-
sons of Jesse. And he goes, is there anybody else?
-
They're kind of like, are you kidding me? What's wrong
-
with these guys? Is there anybody else? There's a little
-
scrapper out in the field. He just tends sheep. You
-
certainly don't need to be. So they bring David in,
-
and Samuel says, king. I see king in you. How
-
long was it? About 20 years. Then God went to work,
-
and he had to build king inside of David. He
-
had to build a capacity to be the king. That's
-
that shaping. That's that bending, that curving, the purposes of God,
-
which included all the crazy things King discipleship program he
-
got thrust into, you know, spear throwing, you know, slander management,
-
hiding in caves. That's all part of his discipleship, right?
-
So God knows what he's doing. He didn't waste one
-
thing in David's life. So when we have to have, God,
-
how do I synchronize my life with your intention? That's
-
the work. That's where you meditate upon your prophecies. That's
-
what Paul told Timothy, 1 Timothy 4.14. He said, don't
-
neglect the gift that was in you. You want to
-
put that first to me for 14? You can put
-
it there. Paul said, Timothy had gotten some great prophecies.
-
Paul said, don't neglect the gift that was given to
-
you by prophecy with the laying out of hands. And
-
then he told him how not to neglect the gift.
-
He said, meditate upon these things. Meditation is the lost
-
art of meditation. We just have so much instant What's
-
the definition? I need a scripture to get me through
-
my next class. I mean, we just want instant light.
-
But thou shalt meditate. Thou shalt meditate. This book of
-
the law shall not depart out of your mouth. Thou
-
shalt meditate, he told Joshua, right? When? Day and night.
-
I'm guilty as anybody. I'd rather look at a goofy
-
little reel. And then go, what did I just do?
-
I want to meditate on how stupid I am. It's like,
-
what a waste of time. Thou shalt meditate day and night,
-
and then you shall observe something. You shall observe. It
-
gives you prophetic sight when you're meditating. So he told Timothy, Timothy, what?
-
Don't neglect the gift that's in you. It was given
-
by prophecy with the laying on of hands of the presbytery.
-
Meditate upon these things. Meditating is how sheep eat. It's
-
the same word for ruminate. I don't know if sheep
-
have four stomachs. Come on, where's the farmer girl? Come on, right?
-
You know all this, right? We need your dad or
-
your brother. Sheep have four chambers in their stomach. And
-
so they eat. It goes down to chamber one. Don't
-
get grossed out. Everybody's had dinner. Then they bring it
-
up again. You know, they take phase one and soften
-
it up. It comes back up. And maybe now some
-
sticks and little pebbles, they get rid of them. And
-
then they take it down to stomach number two and
-
it gets softer and softer and softer. And then they
-
finally break down all the nutrients. That's meditation. That's rumination.
-
You don't, you know, you just don't get the riches
-
of God's Word by first glance. You don't understand what
-
God's going to do in a prophecy just by reading
-
it once a year. I'm hoping I'm not telling you,
-
but I was in church recently. I said, so how's
-
the prophetic word working in you? They're going, yeah, yeah,
-
it's been a long time since we looked at that.
-
I'm thinking, well, I guess it's not working. I mean,
-
I feel bad because it's like, meditate, Paul said. Timothy, what?
-
Meditate upon these things, this next phrase, See, give yourself
-
wholly to it. Not H-O-L-Y, but W-H-O-L-L-Y. Completely give yourself
-
to it. In the Greek it says, I love it
-
in the Greek, it says, see yourself in it. Isn't
-
that cool? See yourself doing it. You're going to be
-
a missionary to the nations. You've got to start meditating that.
-
But God, you call me a missionary. I wonder what
-
country it is. I'm a missionary. I've got to be
-
on a mission. You start meditating and talking to God
-
about it. And you start seeing yourself in it. for
-
this purpose. He's not done. He goes, that your profiting
-
will appear before all. Your profiting. God prophetically speaks to us,
-
and then we go to work ruminating on that word,
-
seeing ourself in it, and the profiting, very similar to
-
the bending and shaping, it means to remove obstacles. The
-
word is prokope in the Greek. It was used, interestingly,
-
in secular Greek to describe lumberjacks, that would show up
-
at a forest and the head lumberjack, what's the head
-
lumberjack called? I don't know. Probably Jack. Hey. Boss Jack.
-
Boss Jack would say, boys, we're gonna put a road
-
right there. And they're going, I don't see a road.
-
Do you see a road? No, I don't see a road.
-
We don't see a road, sir. He goes, precisely. Start
-
chopping trees down. It was used to describe a lumberjack
-
removing obstacles for a forward path. that your profiting will
-
appear before all. God says, when you're meditating on prophecy,
-
when you're meditating on His Word, what you're doing, you
-
begin to see yourself differently, see yourself in that action,
-
and pretty soon you start removing the obstacles that your
-
mind comes up with, because all we see are the
-
trees sometimes. I'd love to do that, God, but all
-
I see are trees. I'd love to go on the
-
mission field, but all I see are big trees of debt,
-
trees of impossibility. There's no way. And so we just
-
start hacking those things down. We start removing the obstacles
-
so we can have a forward way. Your progress will
-
appear before all because it's just not about you. See,
-
the body gets built up when a prophetic word is fulfilled.
-
They go, do you remember that prophecy? Look, they're going
-
to Japan next month. Remember four years ago, that prophecy?
-
I mean, always we could, the community, we have to
-
judge prophecy and then help fulfill prophecy in the community.
-
You can't do solo. You can't, it's not a solo act.
-
We use words like my word, I got my prophecy. Well,
-
it's all of our prophecy. You need the church to
-
fulfill the prophecy. We're part of a body, right? And man,
-
when you hear a prophetic word comes true, and I
-
was just up in Hereford, and I've been prophesying into
-
that movement for 38 years, and I just, every now
-
and then, the joy of just hearing a testimony. You
-
prophesied this several years ago, and now this is happening,
-
and just go, that just builds everybody up. Yeah. Yeah.
-
So I wanted to encourage you to just keep fighting.
-
It's fight. That's the other part. Paul taught Timothy in
-
1 Timothy 1.18. This charge I'm giving you, Timothy, according
-
to your prophecy, you can wage good warfare with it.
-
Because it's automatic warfare. Right, Dave? If we can trick
-
people and say, who would like a prophecy? Raise your hand.
-
I said, okay, who wants warfare? Raise your other hand.
-
Because you always get both. You can't say, I want
-
prophecy and no warfare. It's always a two-for-one special. Prophecy
-
on one hand, warfare on the other. So you can
-
wage good warfare. Good warfare with what? What God says
-
about you. That's when we use those, not magic, but
-
powerful phrase, God, you said. God, you said. You told me.
-
And I wage warfare with it. Yeah? All right? Helpful?
-
Any questions? This is such a free meeting. We can
-
just kind of do Q & A. Seriously. Anybody have
-
a question about Times and seasons, how the prophetic works.
-
Who's really frustrated tonight? Anybody? We all have frustrations. That
-
means God's at work. When you lose that sense of
-
I'm in the battle, that's dangerous. You ever lose the
-
sense of there's no resistance going on here? Ooh, that's dangerous.
-
That means the flesh is winning because the flesh and
-
the spirit are going to oppose. So I just want
-
to say something prophetically as I was walking over here
-
and praying. And I think this lands for word of life.
-
I go to too many churches. I have 50.
