From the rising of the sun unto the setting of
-
the sea, the name of the Lord is to be praised. Shalom,
-
precious one. God richly bless you for tuning in to
-
Radio ACI today for our morning glory devotion. Privileged to
-
be facilitating today's episode. our pastor and Mrs. Bruce Smith
-
from Harvest Chapel International, Kumasi. Let us kindly share a
-
word of prayer. Gracious Father, we thank you for the
-
gift of life and for the privilege to start our
-
day with your word. We pray that you grant us
-
understanding and insight into your word. In Jesus' mighty name. Amen.
-
Let us kindly take our confession from Joshua chapter 1
-
verse 8. Joshua chapter 1 verse 8 This book of
-
the law shall not depart out of my mouth, but
-
I shall meditate in it day and night, that I
-
may observe to do according to all that is written
-
in it. For then I will make my way prosperous,
-
and then I will have good success. Amen. The theme
-
for our episode today is Trusting God One Day at
-
a Time. Trusting God One Day at a Time. A
-
script written by Pastor and Mrs. Amu Apia. And our
-
scriptural reading will be taken from Exodus chapter 16 verses
-
11 through 17 and then also verse 31. Exodus chapter
-
16 verses 11 to 17 and verse 31. And I'll
-
be reading from the King James Version And the Lord
-
spake unto Moses, saying, I have heard the murmurings of
-
the children of Israel. Speak unto them, saying, At evening
-
ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall
-
be filled with bread. And ye shall know that I
-
am the Lord your God. And it came to pass
-
that at evening the quails came up and covered the camp,
-
and in the morning the dew lay round the host.
-
And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold,
-
upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small
-
round thing, as small as the whole frost on the ground.
-
And when the children of Israel saw it, They said
-
to one another, It is manna, for they wist not
-
what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is
-
the bread which the Lord hath given you to eat.
-
This is the thing which the Lord hath commanded. Gather
-
of it every man according to his eating, and omer
-
for every man according to the number of your persons.
-
Take ye every man for them which are in his tents.
-
And the children of Israel did so, and gathered some more,
-
some less. Verse 31. And the house of Israel called
-
the name thereof Manah. and it was like coriander seed, white,
-
and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey.
-
May the Lord add his blessing to the reading and
-
hearing of his word. Thanks be to God. Trust in
-
God one day at a time. Trust in God one
-
day at a time. Most of us prefer a stockpile
-
over a daily allowance. We feel safe when our fridges,
-
freezers and storerooms are full, our bank accounts are steady
-
and our plans for next month are firmly in place.
-
We love the comfort of plenty for many days. Yet,
-
when the Lord Jesus taught his disciples how to pray,
-
He gave them words that pull us back to a
-
quiet daily dependence. Give us this day our daily bread.
-
These words draw our focus to a particular time. This day.
-
It is a recurring petition to be made again with
-
each sunrise. These words would have reminded Jesus' hearers of
-
the Exodus. a period in Israel's history when God provided
-
just enough manna daily for the people to survive. They
-
were wandering in a wilderness on their way to a
-
promised land where God would be their king. They would
-
have left a ground stockpile of food, but they had
-
no storerooms, no fields to reap, and nowhere to shop.
-
If God did not feed them, they would starve in
-
the heat. Every morning when the dew cleared away, a
-
fine flaky substance lay across the open ground, manna, bread
-
from heaven. But God gave them a strict command, gather
-
only enough for today. If anyone tried to hoard it
-
out of fear for tomorrow, The manna bred worms and
-
grew foul. God taught them to trust him afresh each morning.
-
God was doing something far deeper than filling empty bellies.
-
He was training their hearts. He was teaching them the
-
strategy of daily dependence on God. We must remember each
-
day that we are dependent creatures. We need the Lord
-
for our physical and spiritual well-being. In our world today,
-
many of us live with overflowing shelves. We buy food
-
by the week or the month. Because our kitchens are stocked,
-
it is terribly easy to fall into the illusion that
-
we are keeping ourselves alive. We may easily forget that
-
the strength to work, the air in our lungs, and
-
the food upon the table are still daily mercies granted
-
by the Father. Perhaps you find yourself worried about what
-
next week holds. You want grace for next month's problems,
-
but God promises grace for today. Do not look past
-
the sunrise to borrow tomorrow's trouble. Let's look to our
-
Father this morning. Let's thank Him for what He has
-
before us and trust that the God who sustained us
-
yesterday will meet us again with new mercies when the
-
sun comes up tomorrow. Amen. Let us kindly take our
-
memory verse from the book of Matthew chapter 6 verse 11.
-
Matthew chapter 6 verse 11. Give us this day our
-
daily bread. Amen. God richly bless you beloved for connecting
-
with us for today's episode. We believe that you have
-
been blessed. Remember, do not look past the sunrise to
-
borrow tomorrow's trouble. God has granted us grace for each day.
-
And let's learn to trust him every morning. For he
-
will see us through. In Jesus name. Amen. We don't
-
want to change your dial. As we have carefully selected
-
content for your growth and for your nourishment. We want
-
to recommend it to others also. So that they shall
-
be blessed. Until we meet you again tomorrow. Shalom. And
-
have a spirit filled day. Amen.
