  7. the Word in its truth and simplicity. Make time with

  8. us each and every Monday to Friday at 2 p.m.

  9. on Spirit 88.3 FM as we encounter the Word of Truth.

  10. God richly bless you.

  11. And you say....

  12. Welcome to Logos Rima Hour with God's servant, Rev.

  13. Dr.

  14. Joseph Baalbin, Head Pastor of Harvest Chapel International Kumasi. And now,

  15. to today's message.

  16. Amen. Hallelujah. Amen.

  17. So y'all, warmly welcome. I wanted to wrap up. Order

  18. in giving. Hallelujah. I believe that God wanted us to

  19. just run through and pick some of the lessons that

  20. he wanted us to learn from Deuteronomy chapter 8 concerning

    Deuteronomy 8 chapter mention

  21. the pursuit of either the spirit of Mammon or God.

  22. Hallelujah.

  23. Because it's so important, you know, The whole Christian life

  24. is all about giving in exchange for what God did

  25. on Calvary's cross. God gave his all for us when

  26. he sacrificed his only begotten son, Jesus Christ. And through

  27. an open invitation to whosoever believes that that person would

  28. not perish, but go on and attain eternal life.

  29. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Amen. And it's a life of exchange He

  30. gave so that we could.

  31. Give back to Him our time, our talents, and our treasures.

  32. Hallelujah. Amen.

  33. And if you go through the Old Testament as God delivered,

  34. if you like, the hallmarks of the covenant that He

  35. cut with Israel of old, you would realize that most

  36. of the Ten Commandments, particularly when it comes to the

  37. commandment concerning idolatry, you know, which is worshipping of other

  38. creative elements instead of the Creator. God frowns quite seriously

  39. on it. Indeed, in the Old Testament, it was capital

  40. punishment to go chasing after the idols of this world.

  41. Hallelujah.

  42. God is our Creator and He wants to be worshipped,

  43. not the Creator or the elements of creation.

  44. Hallelujah.

  45. And so let's see how best we can pick some

  46. of the other lessons and then some of the things

  47. that would complete with our worship and our service for

  48. God and then we'll wrap up the month.

  49. Hallelujah. Amen.

  50. And as we read through, I think one of the

  51. things that is going to strike you and I'm sure

  52. if you like I'll also be committing the same mistake

  53. just as God if we want to style it as

  54. a mistake because you realize that there is repetitiveness as

  55. we read through Deuteronomy chapter 8 and 10. And anytime

    Deuteronomy 8 chapter mention

  56. you see that there is a certain particular truth or

  57. commandment in the Lord and there is repetitiveness around it,

  58. then most often it has to do with The hard

  59. lessons in the Bible that needs, if possible, so to speak,

  60. to be drummed into our heads. And so God, the

  61. Holy Spirit, knowing how easily forgetful we are, will repeat and.

  62. Repeat, repeat the lessons.

  63. He's trying to drum it into our heads that, son, forget,

  64. don't forget this, don't forget this, don't forget this. So

  65. it will strike you as we go through it. It's just,

  66. I mean, the commandments, the commandments, the commandments. It's so

  67. dear to God's heart that we never forget the commandments,

  68. but rather do everything in our power to obey the

  69. commandments because our obedience literally releases the blessings of God

  70. into our lives.

  71. Hallelujah.

  72. So when you find some of these repetitive cycles of

  73. the same commandments or truth, then God wants us to

  74. pause long enough, meditate and practice those truths Till we

  75. master them.

  76. It's like they can't be ignored. Truths and lessons. Amen. Hallelujah.

  77. So let's go back to Deuteronomy chapter 8. We have

    Deuteronomy 8 chapter mention

  78. already looked at verse 1.

  79. We have picked the lessons there. Amen.

  80. So it's very, very important that we remember that he

  81. humbled you.

  82. He let you hunger. Fed you with manna.

  83. Underline that which you did not know, nor did your

  84. fathers know, that he might make you know that man

  85. does not live by bread alone, but man lives by

  86. every word that comes from the mouth of God.

  87. Hallelujah.

  88. Let us remember the foundational stones that Moses had laid.

  89. God created us to be his stewards and born servants.

  90. Hallelujah.

  91. We live in this world and follow every word and instruction.

  92. That proceeds from the mouth of God. Simply because it

  93. is his world.

  94. He is the owner. Hallelujah. Amen.

  95. And he knows what he is doing. And where he

  96. is taking us all. Yes it is a falling well.

  97. But God has promised that he will fix it.

  98. Amen. He will fix it. He will fix it. Hallelujah.

  99. And one of the ways that he said he is

  100. going to fix it. Is that I am going to

  101. create things anew.

  102. Amen. Hallelujah. And isn't it amazing? He reassures us.

  103. He says that eyes have not seen nor ears heard

  104. nor the mind conceived or fathomed the good things that

  105. God has planned for us who believe, who trust, who

  106. follow his.

  107. Leading and his guidance. Eyes have not seen it. Hallelujah.

  108. The descriptions that or the glimpses of heaven that The

  109. apostle John gives us in the book of Revelation and

  110. all the other prophets of God have documented. The Bible,

  111. it says that, Paul says that when he was caught

  112. up into the third heaven, the thing that he saw,

  113. he said he can't document it.

  114. He can't put words to it.

  115. That's why he says, I can't. Because he can't be

  116. able to put words to it.

  117. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Amen. And look at verse 4.

  118. It says, your clothing did not wear out on you

  119. and your foot did not swell these 40 years.

  120. Now, let's take the lessons.

  121. So God through Moses now draws our attention to the

  122. supernatural provisions that he made for Israel during the wilderness journey.

  123. And I'm saying that the wealth, what have we been

  124. using the wealth for? Food, clothing, shelter, Cars, when we

  125. are tired, when we can't walk, the cars will take

  126. us to wherever we want to go.

  127. Amen. Now look at what about food. Food supplies.

  128. God supplied manna for 40 good years.

  129. Amen.

  130. The food, 40 years. So through those supernatural provision of God,

  131. God was trying.

  132. To tell us a lesson.

  133. In the wilderness, Israel didn't farm. They never planted anything.

  134. They never reaped anything. They ate manna for 40 good years.

  135. More or less, God fed them for 40 good years.

  136. Food.

  137. When we become a billionaire, one of the things on

  138. your agenda will be good food. Hallelujah. Have you seen

  139. the description of manna? They say it was like nothing.

  140. And the Bible says that it was the food of angels.

  141. Yes.

  142. It means that when you and I will go to heaven,

  143. we'll go and see manna there. And the people of

  144. Israel tasted manna long before they would get there.

  145. Hallelujah. What about water?

  146. There was a supernatural supply of water. The Bible says

  147. that the water....

  148. The water that Moses struck when the rock.

  149. That water followed them. You see, so Israel was led

  150. across the tracks that the.

  151. Water was going through. Hallelujah.

  152. So for 40 years, God gave them water to drink.

  153. Hallelujah. Amen.

  154. So there was supernatural supply through the rock that followed them.

  155. What about clothing? Look at what did God say. He said,

  156. your clothing did not wear out on you. Amen. Talk

  157. about fashion. Trending fashion. 40 years. How many of us,

  158. every year we want to change our wardrobes. 40 years,

  159. Israel didn't find any cause or reason to change their wardrobe.

  160. Hallelujah. Amen.

  161. When you become a billionaire, I hope you are writing

  162. how you spend your 1 billion.

  163. Food, water, clothing.

  164. Footwear.

  165. Hallelujah.

  166. Footwear. 40 good years, no change. And what I like

  167. about the footwear is that it also In a way,

  168. and I like what Moses said, how Moses put it,

  169. oh God. He said, your feet did not swell these

  170. 40 years. More like, I walked you, I led you

  171. in hell.

  172. Hell.

  173. Well done is, you know, well, they could have been what,

  174. pricked by all kinds of things and got swellings and

  175. got infections and all that. God is saying that he

  176. gave them supernatural health. The people who died, All the

  177. people who died were those who opposed him. So minus

  178. Caleb and Joshua, all the others were killed by God.

  179. He said, I'll kill you anyway. And he killed them.

  180. Hallelujah. Amen.

  181. But for 40 years, they were held in health and vitality.

  182. Are you thinking about your billion? What are you going

  183. to use it for?

  184. Amen. Hallelujah.

  185. So it's amazing that, so God's argument here is that,

  186. you know, even when I give you the wealth, these

  187. are the basic necessities of life. All the rest, you

  188. think about it. When you get money, what are.

  189. Food, clothing, shelter, health? Hallelujah. Amen.

  190. And I like what the apostle Paul would say, my

  191. God shall supply all. my knees according to his riches

  192. in glory through Christ Jesus. Turn to someone and say,

  193. God is still in the business of supernatural provisions. Amen.

  194. And you just have to believe. You have to believe.

  195. This is what he's saying. 40 good years.

  196. He demonstrates it.

  197. So more or less, don't go and fix your eyes

  198. and begin chasing the spirit of Mammon. What are you

  199. going to do with it? These are the things that

  200. we ultimately use it for. And more like come to

  201. the wilderness where there was nothing. Supernatural. God's supply. All

  202. these basic things. That's verse 4. And you remember he says,

  203. I change not.

  204. Hallelujah.

  205. Those who have dared to believe and you allow God

  206. to guide you and to lead you day by day,

  207. you'll be amazed. You'll be amazed And the supplies that

  208. God has installed for you. Verse 5 says that, know

  209. then in your heart that as a man, so still

  210. the lessons, the tough lessons he wants.

  211. Us to know.

  212. As a man disciplines his son, the Lord your God

  213. disciplines you. So we are learning here that God disciplines

  214. us as his children. What is the end goal of discipline?

  215. Character training. Amen. Amen.

  216. Discipline is for character training. And where we are going,

  217. discipline matters.

  218. Say a big amen.

  219. If you know where we are going, discipline matters. When

  220. we get to heaven, like they say, the first rule

  221. you are going to hear, order! Order! No one dares

  222. to challenge the king. His word is law. Where we

  223. are going, So nobody is going to get heaven and

  224. be like Satan. What Satan did and the rebellion that

  225. was quashed over there, it is not going to repeat itself.

  226. That is why you and I, we are going through

  227. all the troubles here to learn the discipline. That where

  228. we are going, there's only one king, one lord, one master,

  229. and his word is law. Nobody dares to challenge him. Me,

  230. you can challenge me. Even when I'm teaching you, some

  231. will say, oh.

  232. I don't have a problem.

  233. But where we are going, if you learn discipline, look,

  234. you can't follow God for long. There are people who

  235. fall away. It's about the truth. I like this, I

  236. don't like this.

  237. Oh, Holy Spirit. I don't like this. I don't.

  238. Like this. Quiet time, quiet time, quiet time, quiet.

  239. Time. Hallelujah. Amen.

  240. And God, as I said earlier, God is preparing us

  241. here on earth before we get to heaven. Because there,

  242. law and order is the rule in heaven. And there

  243. will be no more rebellion in heaven after Satan. So

  244. the hardships here on earth is what God uses To

  245. purge and purify the hearts of the future citizens of heaven.

  246. Say a big amen. Can I take that again? The

  247. hardship here on earth. God has told. It's the word

  248. of God telling us. He said, I use it to

  249. chastise you. To discipline you as my children. To learn

  250. you and to inscribe in your heart. To get it etched,

  251. you know, solidly on your hearts and on your minds.

  252. The lessons of humility. And you need a humble heart

  253. to take orders. The people who fall away from the

  254. Christian faith, they say, and you remember, so that's why

  255. I said the whole thing is repetitive, repetitive. Remember, all

  256. the commandments of the Lord, you shall obey, you shall obey,

  257. you shall obey. Now all that he's saying again is,

  258. once again, elevating.

  259. The word of God, his instructions to us. You can't

  260. take orders. You won't humble yourself enough.

  261. That I have given you, thankfully God has given us

  262. sufficient brain cells and reasoning power to know that we

  263. are somebody's invention. If we don't know Christ, he has

  264. instructed us over and over and over. And the word

  265. of God is instructing you, your master, your inventor, who

  266. has the power to make and will make you. He's

  267. giving you critical instructions. And he says that in Israel

  268. of all, I have led you. I have guided you

  269. through this wilderness intentionally. And you have come along to

  270. give you certain vital lessons about discipline and how to

  271. kill yourselves of pride. The people who read the word

  272. and submit themselves to the word of God and our practice.

  273. When you see them, you know. You will be humbled.

  274. You will be humbled. You will be humbled. Because you

  275. will learn not to struggle and to wrestle with the

  276. spirit of God. You won't sleep. Amen. He says he

  277. will discipline you. You won't sleep. So you will learn

  278. sooner than later. You are a diligent follower and student

  279. of the word of God. You will be humbled. Amen.

  280. When it comes to issues like discipline in the church, look,

  281. we won't find you near there. We won't find you

  282. near there. Because of the Holy Spirit in you. And

  283. he would have learned to humble your heart concerning leadership.

  284. Your leaders give instructions. Long before they will give you,

  285. the Holy Spirit will be telling you. So immediately they speak,

  286. you know, God has spoken. I just need to do it. Hallelujah.

  287. So hardship here on earth is what God uses to

  288. purge and purify the hearts of the future citizens of heaven.

  289. Let's go to six. So, You shall keep. So once again,

  290. we have come back. So you shall keep. Because of this,

  291. you shall keep the commandment of the Lord your God

  292. by walking in his way and by fearing him. So

  293. verse 6 is encouraging us. Just keep the commandments. Amen.

  294. Just walk in obedience. Trust in the Lord with all

  295. your heart. Proverbs 3 says, Verse 5 will say, trust

  296. in the Lord with all your heart. Lean not on

  297. your own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him and

  298. he shall guide thy paths. Just trust in the Lord

  299. that he'll provide.

  300. Hallelujah.

  301. Amen. For all are legitimate in his name. On the

  302. symbol on the mount, Jesus Christ made it abundantly clear.

  303. These are the things that the unbelievers, they chase after.

  304. They chase after the spirit of Mammon for food, for clothing,

  305. for shelter, for health and longevity and all these things.

  306. They are mine to give. They are mine to give. Trust.

  307. Hallelujah. Amen.

  308. So once again, as I said, repeating it again, you

  309. shall keep. The commandments of the Lord your God by

  310. walking in his ways. And I like this one, by

  311. fearing him. What does it mean? You respect, you honor,

  312. and you reverence him. The fear, you respect that God

  313. has spoken. The creator has spoken. His word is truth.

  314. His word is law.

  315. Amen. Amen.

  316. Look, you are not going to get far. A lot

  317. of us are frustrated in our work with God because

  318. of these simple, basic, but essential instructions. You want to

  319. go far with God? Obedience to the word of God.

  320. What is God saying?

  321. You will know.

  322. The one who created the ear, the one who created

  323. the heart, the one who created the human spirit, who

  324. gives us life and breath and air, He knows how

  325. to communicate with us. And for you and I as believers,

  326. he has even gone further by coming to take residence

  327. in our hearts and spirit by his Holy Spirit. And

  328. the Bible says he is in us and comes alongside

  329. of us. So even when you are not hearing the whispering,

  330. you hear the ones that is inside. Deep impressions of

  331. the heart.

  332. Hallelujah. Amen.

  333. And he will teach you the fear. So we respect,

  334. we honor and reverence him because we know he's our maker.

  335. And he knows better than we do. Say amen. And

  336. that's where a heart of humility comes in. That I

  337. am a creator of God. And God is the creator.

  338. If he says wait, I will wait.

  339. Simple as that. Hallelujah. Verse 7. Let's do 7.

  340. He said, for the Lord your God. So we'll do 7, 8, 9, 10.

  341. Let's love that. Now listen.

  342. For the Lord your God is bringing you into what?

  343. A good land. A land of brooks of water. Of

  344. fountains and springs flowing out in the valleys and hills.

  345. A land of wheat and barley. of vines and fig

  346. trees and pomegranates, a land of olive trees and honey,

  347. a land in which you will eat bread without scarcity,

  348. in which you will lack nothing, a land whose stones

  349. are iron and out of whose hills you can dig copper.

  350. And you shall eat and be full, and you shall

  351. bless the Lord your God for the good land he

  352. has given you. What do you use the billions for?

  353. And the people who make their billions, how do they

  354. make it? Look at.

  355. It.

  356. At least those in that, now it's tech, tech, tech, tech.

  357. Over here, it sounds like agrarian. That's how they were

  358. making their money in those days.

  359. COVID.

  360. And God says that I'm taking you there and I'm

  361. going to bring you into wealth.

  362. Amen.

  363. So if we trust and obey God, he will bring

  364. us into a state and place of great wealth and reward.

  365. He owns it all. And Hebrews 11, 6 says that what?

  366. They that come must believe that he is and that

  367. he is a rewarder. Of them that diligently seek him,

  368. he is a rewarder. And he has told us where

  369. he's taking us. Not just in this life. This is

  370. a transit point. to what he has planned for us

  371. in the life hereafter.

  372. Hallelujah.

  373. So the blessings that God has planned for us, it

  374. will more than compensate, now listen to that, for any

  375. hardship we go through, if we just trust and follow on.

  376. God will compensate you. Turn to someone and say, God

  377. will compensate you.

  378. Amen. Hallelujah. Amen.

  379. Now let's go to 11. So we are picking the lessons.

  380. We won't finish.

  381. Now, listen now. It's a one, isn't it?

  382. Take care lest you forget the Lord your God by

  383. not keeping his commandments and his rules and his statutes,

  384. which I command you today.

  385. You see the repetitiveness.

  386. We are back again to the word, the instructions that

  387. he'll give. the Logos and the Rima, the Holy Spirit

  388. in us. Read your Bible every day. If you like,

  389. he will always remind us of the words that he

  390. has taught us in private. When we come into the open,

  391. he will edge us on to obey the truths, to

  392. put them into.

  393. Practice so we can profit. Hallelujah. The word again, hallelujah.

  394. And so the warning is to stay humble and focused.

  395. How? He says, forget. Don't forget the Lord, your God. Hallelujah. Amen.

  396. Why? Because he knows that we will get anxious. We

  397. get anxious. How are we able to forget him? Or

  398. when are we tempted most to forget the Lord? When

  399. we get anxious about the curse of this life, What

  400. we shall eat, drink, wear, sleep, and all the other

  401. comforts of life that make us forget about God and

  402. then go chasing after the spirit or the God of Mammon.

  403. Amen. Hallelujah.

  404. So God tries to address it. He knows that when

  405. we go for the chasing after money, he knows just

  406. what we want to use the money for. But then

  407. once again, he keeps on hammering the word, my word,

  408. read my word. We'll come to that in a moment.

  409. Read my word. Never forget that you and I, we

  410. are owned by God. Hallelujah. We are his creation. We

  411. are his stewards. We are his sheep. And if we

  412. are his sheep, by default, we are supposed to be

  413. dependent on him. And he is our source and our provider.

  414. Which is exactly what David says in Psalm 23. The

  415. Lord is my shepherd. And that is why he says,

  416. I shall not want. Amen.

  417. Hallelujah.

  418. And the surest way to get that message is to

  419. walk in obedience.

  420. Hallelujah.
