  1. Let's go. God is good. He's good. He's

  2. good. It's so great to be here with

  3. everyone on this Labor Day weekend. And

  4. uh man, what a great service we've had

  5. already. And uh just so we know if

  6. you're new with us, you can always

  7. follow along. Notes QR codes going to go

  8. up on the screen or you can go into the

  9. church center app. We talk about it a

  10. lot. Everything we do here at Radiant

  11. Life can be run through there, but you

  12. can go into your church center, tap on

  13. the three lines in the bottom right

  14. corner. You can go to sermon notes every

  15. Sunday morning to get the notes and to

  16. be able to follow along with us if that

  17. is a blessing to you. Well, this

  18. morning, as was mentioned, we're going

  19. to be talking about our value and the

  20. value of missions. We share Jesus both

  21. locally and globally. This is a huge

  22. heart of Radiant Life Church. In fact,

  23. Pastor Dave and Kay are sitting right up

  24. here on the front row. And there's

  25. something from the very beginning that

  26. we're going to serve. We're going to

  27. give. We're going to go in missions to

  28. reach the world for Jesus. As many of us

  29. in this room have said, "Hey, I yes, I

  30. want to say yes to Jesus." At some point

  31. in our life, we want to then share that.

  32. That's what the commission of the Bible

  33. is all about. Now, I have to uh just

  34. share this is kind of a crazy story, but

  35. this week I was out running and so I try

  36. to run four times a week. That's my

  37. goal. And normally the first two times,

  38. Monday and Wednesday, I run two miles,

  39. two and a half miles. And then on

  40. Thursday and Saturday, I try to run five

  41. miles. And uh if you want to know what

  42. hot was Thursday, it was 88 degrees at

  43. like 900 a.m. And I thought I was going

  44. to die. In fact, I called my wife and I

  45. was like, "Hey, Rachel, can you come

  46. pick me up? I think I am I've hit the

  47. the limit that I'm to the end of it."

  48. But on Tuesday or on Monday, I believe

  49. it was awesome. It was great weather. I

  50. was out running the two-mile run and I

  51. was feeling pretty good and I all of a

  52. sudden noticed that there was a guy on

  53. the the side of the road and he had been

  54. working on like a retaining wall so that

  55. his driveway didn't fall into the the

  56. creek. And so I said hi to him and he

  57. had a Jeff Gordon hat on who back when

  58. Jeff Gordon in NASCAR if you didn't know

  59. he was one of the big-time drivers. He

  60. was my favorite driver. And so I was

  61. like, "Hey, go Jeff Gordon." And then

  62. I'm running. I'm like, "What? Of all the

  63. things I could say, that was so bizarre.

  64. He doesn't race. Hasn't raced in a long

  65. time." It was just a weird comment. And

  66. so I'm just jogging on, not thinking

  67. about it. And then all of a sudden, I

  68. just had this feeling like, "You need to

  69. go back and just talk to the guy." Now,

  70. if you've been around here for a while,

  71. I've told the story a few times. When I

  72. was in college, and I felt similar. I

  73. was driving back from church, actually

  74. been praying, "Lord, use me. speak to

  75. me. Driving back to college, I had a car

  76. full of people and I saw this guy mowing

  77. his yard and I just felt so strongly I

  78. was supposed to stop. In that moment, I

  79. talked God out of me doing it. Actually,

  80. I talked myself out of obedience is what

  81. I did. And I was like, I all these

  82. people are with me. Like, I can't stop.

  83. And literally from then till now, I'm

  84. like, Lord, I wish I would have just

  85. done what you said. It's not that hard.

  86. Like you said, I know you did. It's not

  87. that hard just to do it. But then, can

  88. you believe it? I'm running down the

  89. road. I will say I didn't have my shirt

  90. on. I was sweaty, kind of disgusting. I

  91. had just worked out and I was like, I

  92. that's that would be super weird if I go

  93. back and talk to this guy. But I am a

  94. couple decades older and I've walked in

  95. the Lord and I've learned if you feel

  96. the Lord says something, you don't not

  97. do it. Like that doesn't make sense. You

  98. do it, right? So, I ran a little farther

  99. than I should have before I decided, you

  100. know what? Yes, I'm going to be

  101. obedient. So, I turn around and I go

  102. back and I I I walk back to the guy. It

  103. had to be weird. He saw me walking back.

  104. Like, what is going to happen? And so, I

  105. just I said, "Hey, you know, I live down

  106. the street. Just thought I would

  107. introduce myself. I saw you out here and

  108. I saw you out last week working on

  109. this." And he asked me advice on this

  110. concrete retaining wall. I'm like, "If

  111. my dad was here, maybe he could help. I

  112. have no clue. Uh, it may or may not fall

  113. over." That's bas I'm not sure. And for

  114. the next hour we talked. I somehow I was

  115. at Wy. It was crazy. I got a tour of

  116. their barn, of his wife's like TV

  117. viewing area in their barn, of their

  118. gardens, of all of this stuff that was

  119. happening. We talked for an hour. It was

  120. really amazing. One of the weirdest

  121. things ever. I was like, I wish I had my

  122. shirt, but I didn't. So, it just was

  123. what it was.

  124. And it was one of those moments where

  125. you're like, "Lord, I'm so thankful that

  126. instead of doing what I wanted to do,

  127. which was keep running, I did what you

  128. asked me to do." And I just simply

  129. stopped and talked to this amazing guy

  130. and got to just hang out with them, got

  131. to talk with them, got to encourage

  132. them. It was such a fun hour or so that

  133. was entirely

  134. unexpected. Now, I don't know about you,

  135. but maybe you've been in places or times

  136. or moments where life was going one way.

  137. You thought it was going to happen this

  138. way, and then all of a sudden it

  139. changed. Maybe it was a conversation.

  140. Maybe it was just an hour of your time.

  141. Or maybe it was like, "I thought God,

  142. you had this for me." Or maybe it was

  143. preod,

  144. not but preheim, but that you were

  145. listening to him and you were going and

  146. life just blew up and you're like,

  147. "What? What happened? Why?" whether you

  148. were serving him or not, like why? What

  149. happened? What? I I was doing what I

  150. thought I was supposed to be and then

  151. something else took place.

  152. And this morning, one of my I I love it.

  153. I talk out of it periodically. One of my

  154. favorite passages of of a scripture is

  155. in Acts 12, and we see this amazing

  156. story where Peter is put in prison. He's

  157. in a a place where you don't want to be,

  158. and it's not ideal in any means. and he

  159. had just been serving the Lord and

  160. following the Lord and doing what the

  161. Lord had. But all of a sudden, what

  162. seemed like the right thing and what

  163. seemed like good, all of a sudden, if in

  164. our world and and our uh maybe worldly

  165. eyes would be like, "Well, he's in

  166. jail." And I just want to say real fast,

  167. I'm not going to take a lot of time, but

  168. the jails back 20,000 years ago are not

  169. like our jails. There was not any cable

  170. TV or Wi-Fi or workout facility. No, it

  171. was a dark, terrible dungeon place.

  172. Dingy and dirty and disgusting. And I

  173. don't even think most of the places if

  174. you had to go to the bathroom, you just

  175. had to go to the bathroom. Like you

  176. didn't get to go to a b like that. What

  177. was it was all together. I just getting

  178. the feel. This was horrible. It's not

  179. like, oh, well, be here for a few weeks

  180. and we'll get out a few days or few. No,

  181. this was horrible.

  182. But God moves right in the middle of

  183. those moments. And as we think about our

  184. our value of missions of we share Jesus

  185. both locally and globally I think

  186. sometimes what we want to happen when we

  187. think about sharing Jesus and the

  188. response or what we see happen it

  189. doesn't always line up perfectly. In

  190. fact, I mentioned that stopping at my

  191. neighbor uh introducing myself normally

  192. do and it didn't turn out in a way where

  193. you left encouraged and build up and

  194. your wife is calling like, "Hey, are you

  195. alive? Like, what happened to you?"

  196. Right? Yeah. Yeah. This is wonderful.

  197. Doesn't always go how we think. Fact,

  198. Pamela, you mentioned, you know, train

  199. up a child and the way they should go

  200. and when they're old, they're not. And

  201. guess what? In the end, that's going to

  202. be the case. But there's a series in the

  203. middle where it's like, Lord, what is

  204. happening? How, why? This is hard. So

  205. today, as we look at the word of God in

  206. Acts chapter 12, I encourage if you are

    Acts 12 chapter mention

  207. a follower of Jesus, I think you can be

  208. encouraged. Maybe you're here and you're

  209. like, "Hey, I'm just here for some

  210. shaved ice afterward." I encourage you

  211. listen to what the word would say. And

  212. more importantly than me or what I would

  213. speak, what the word and what God would

  214. speak to you because I think every

  215. person in this room that's watching

  216. online or later on, I believe that God

  217. wants to speak something to us about his

  218. heart, about his love, about what he can

  219. do, about who he is in our life.

  220. Now, we think of this once again, Peter,

  221. he's locked in prison. He's in a place

  222. that he really would prefer not to be.

  223. But so often it seemed like in the early

  224. church it's where followers of Jesus

  225. ended up. It was painful. It was

  226. difficult. In fact, recently before uh

  227. James had been killed by the end of the

  228. the gospels, we see most of the

  229. disciples, the followers of Jesus that

  230. were close with him were martyed in some

  231. way or another because Herod is trying

  232. to silence gospel witness by attack

  233. attacking gospel messengers. And so when

  234. we get to this point that be has begun

  235. to be happening and all of a sudden the

  236. church knows that it's dangerous. It's

  237. not just easy and fun but it's dangerous

  238. to even share Jesus. But that's where we

  239. are. And so when we dive into Acts 12,

  240. we'll start in the first five verses.

  241. Says about that time Herod the king laid

  242. violent hands on some who belong to the

  243. church. He killed James the brother of

  244. John with the sword. And when we or when

  245. he saw that it pleased the Jews, he

  246. proceeded to arrest Peter also. This was

  247. during the days of unleavened bread. And

  248. when he had seized him, he put him in

  249. prison, delivering him over to four

  250. squads of soldiers to guard him.

  251. Intending after the Passover to bring

  252. him out to the people. So Peter was kept

  253. in prison. But earnest prayer for him

  254. was made to God by the church.

  255. Now when we look at this moment, it

  256. doesn't look good. James has just been

  257. put to death. Like this is not good.

  258. It's not this the moment or the the

  259. place that you would want to be. It

  260. seems like everything is going wrong.

  261. But the last verse that we read there is

  262. so important. Peter was put in prison.

  263. But earnest prayer for him was made to

  264. God by the church. Victor and Pamela,

  265. guess what? Earnest prayer was made to

  266. God by you. And you asked others to

  267. pray. The church was praying for your

  268. son. And guess what? God can reach

  269. places that feel locked. He can still

  270. reach people and situations. And I want

  271. someone to hear today that when life

  272. feels locked, Jesus can still reach you

  273. as well. Whatever the situation of your

  274. life is, whatever the moment is, no

  275. matter how easy or how hard, especially

  276. if you're in those moments of

  277. difficulty, I want you to hear today

  278. that God can still reach you. He can

  279. still find you. He knows where you are.

  280. He knows the situation of your life. And

  281. maybe we're asking, Lord, would you if

  282. you just do this thing for me, then I'll

  283. believe. And maybe it probably was not

  284. losing your job. But God knows what we

  285. need. And he'll work miracles on our

  286. behalf. And it only takes a people, a

  287. church, a family member, someone to be

  288. praying, to be asking, "Lord, would you

  289. do this miracle that I can't do on my

  290. own? Would you accomplish this thing in

  291. my life? Lord, would you do it in my

  292. kids or my family or my grandkids? Lord,

  293. would you show up? Because it feels

  294. locked. It feels like there's no chance.

  295. It feels like, yeah, James was just put

  296. to death and now Peter, the one that's

  297. leading this whole thing, it seems like

  298. it is over.

  299. But when Jesus moves,

  300. something happens.

  301. And I think it's important to realize

  302. that if the gospel did not matter, there

  303. would be no reason to resist it. In

  304. fact, opposition often reveals

  305. importance. And if we expect everything

  306. to be easy, maybe we haven't shared

  307. Jesus enough. We haven't talked about

  308. him enough. Why would there be

  309. opposition to something that we don't

  310. even get public with who he is? But as

  311. we see in the New Testament, as we th

  312. see throughout history, when the church

  313. moves forward in the power of God, when

  314. prayer happens, when the things of God

  315. happen, opposition so often comes.

  316. Maybe my question to some people in this

  317. room is maybe there's people in your

  318. life or maybe maybe your own situation,

  319. but maybe there's a question of where do

  320. I feel locked up?

  321. Where have I run out of answers?

  322. Or I don't know what to do. Sometimes

  323. the first step towards Jesus is simply

  324. admitting there may be more going on

  325. here than I realized. And I don't care

  326. if you've known Jesus your whole life.

  327. Or maybe if you're just on the pre

  328. trying to figure out Jesus and walk with

  329. him in relationship. Or maybe you don't

  330. even really care at this point. I just

  331. want to throw it out there. If there's

  332. places where you feel locked up like

  333. Peter was and you feel like there's no

  334. chance, you feel like nothing is going

  335. to come good, it might be time to look

  336. to Jesus because one more time with what

  337. feels locked to you, it's not locked to

  338. Jesus. And he wants to do something in

  339. your life, in your situation, just like

  340. we're about to see in the life of Peter.

  341. In fact, as we continue on in verse 6

  342. through 111, it says, "Now when Herod

  343. was about to bring him out on that very

  344. night, Peter was sleeping between two

  345. soldiers bound with two chains and

  346. centuries before the door were guarding

  347. the prison." Now, I just want to throw

  348. out here real fast before we continue

  349. on. Maybe you've walked with the Lord.

  350. Maybe you've uh you you've known him a

  351. long time or just a little bit of time.

  352. I feel like this verse sometimes is how

  353. the Lord likes to work. What did it say?

  354. Now, Herod was about to bring him out

  355. that very night. Anybody ever been with

  356. the Lord? Like, Lord, you could show up

  357. slightly earlier. Just slightly earlier.

  358. I That would make it so much easier on

  359. our anxiety and on our our worry. Like,

  360. Lord, I know you're going to do

  361. something, but could you show me what

  362. and before the night before something

  363. really bad could happen? Like, Lord,

  364. okay, I just had to throw that out

  365. there. Sometimes we have to be patient.

  366. But verse 7 says, "And behold, an angel

  367. of the Lord stood next to him, and a

  368. light shone in the cell. He struck Peter

  369. on the side and woke him, saying, 'Get

  370. up quickly." Now, this is super free,

  371. but he must have been a heavy sleeper.

  372. I'm just saying if all of a sudden

  373. there's lights and crazy and the angels

  374. before him, and the angel has to be

  375. LIKE, "HEY, BUDDY, WAKE UP. LIKE, I'M

  376. HERE. It's time." But, you know, I I

  377. hope when you read the Bible, you read

  378. it and you're like, "That is such an

  379. interesting thing." like the angel is

  380. bright light right there. But Peter

  381. needs some help, but get up quickly.

  382. And the chains fell off his hands. And

  383. the angel said to him, "Dress yourself

  384. and put on your sandals." And he did so.

  385. And he said to him, "Wrap your cloak

  386. around you and follow me." And he went

  387. out and followed him. He did not know

  388. that what was being done by the angel

  389. was real, but thought he was seeing a

  390. vision. That's my kind of miracle from

  391. the Lord. Like, God, this is SUPER COOL.

  392. WHAT AN AWESOME WHAT AN AWESOME VISION

  393. or this is a great dream. Like didn't

  394. even realize it was there. And sometimes

  395. when we're walking in the Lord, we get

  396. to be at a place where we're like, God,

  397. I I didn't even know that was real. I

  398. thought this was something that was just

  399. in my imagination. And nor you did this.

  400. This is real life. When they had passed

  401. the first and the second guard, they

  402. came to the iron gate leading into the

  403. city. It opened for them of its own

  404. accord. And they went out and went along

  405. one street. And immediately the angel

  406. left him. When Peter came to himself, he

  407. said, "Now I am sure that the Lord has

  408. sent his angel and rescued me from the

  409. hand of Herod and from all the Jewish

  410. people were expecting."

  411. She's saying, "Lord, I know that you

  412. sent an angel. I know he came. I know he

  413. delivered me. I know that what the

  414. people thought was going to happen, I

  415. was going to get put to death. No, it's

  416. not going to happen because the angel of

  417. God showed up in the exact moment

  418. to accomplish what only he could

  419. accomplish.

  420. He was bound. He was sleeping between

  421. two soldiers centuries guarding the

  422. door. He was no way was he getting out.

  423. Humanly speaking, Peter is locked down

  424. from every direction, every side, every

  425. possibility. It was no good all the way

  426. around except when Jesus sends his

  427. angel. When Jesus moves in our life,

  428. anything is possible.

  429. You know what I love about the power of

  430. God in our life? What we see through his

  431. word is church, God does not need

  432. Herod's permission to accomplish what he

  433. wants. God didn't have to go and say,

  434. "Hey, Herod, uh, I think we should let

  435. Peter out tonight." Uh God doesn't have

  436. to come to your situation and be like,

  437. "Well, we're going to haggle for this

  438. this moment or this time." No. When God

  439. shows up in your life, in your

  440. situation, right where you are, he does

  441. not need permission to open the door.

  442. And I love even that moment that that uh

  443. that it tells us that that the door

  444. opened by itself. Because when God steps

  445. into our situation, all of our prayer

  446. and our talking and our Lord Jesus, what

  447. are you doing? And all of a sudden,

  448. Jesus shows up to our family member, our

  449. loved one, or in our life and does what

  450. maybe we could never possibly do. That

  451. is the God that we serve.

  452. George Jesus opens doors we cannot open

  453. oursel. He doesn't need permission. Then

  454. angel appears, light shines, Peter is

  455. awakened, and the chains just fall off

  456. his hand. Everything changes

  457. when God shows up.

  458. And you know, I think something that we

  459. as humans, we want to do, we want to

  460. make happen is we're like, we have to

  461. figure it out. We've got to put all the

  462. effort in. If only I try harder. If

  463. maybe even I pray harder. If I just

  464. could figure out a way to believe

  465. harder.

  466. You know what? When Jesus shows up, it's

  467. not normally because of how hard we

  468. tried or how great we think we are or

  469. how great we think we did.

  470. Here, Peter did not break the chains.

  471. God is the one that broke him. God is

  472. the one that moved. And all that Peter

  473. had to do is when he said get up, he had

  474. to get up. And when he said get clothed,

  475. he had to get clothed. When he said

  476. follow me, he had to follow him. And

  477. church, sometimes I think we want to be

  478. the one that has the strength and the

  479. power to accomplish the work. And what

  480. we need to do is pray and believe and

  481. cast our cares upon the Lord. Bring

  482. those things to him and then ask him,

  483. "Lord, whatever you have for me, I will

  484. do.

  485. >> I'm simply going to say yes.

  486. So Lord, if you ask me while I'm running

  487. down a street and I'm disgusting, if you

  488. ask me to go talk to the guy that's on

  489. the side of the road, I'm going to go do

  490. it. Lord, if with my family member, all

  491. that you're having me do is pray and

  492. you're not giving me the the permission

  493. to speak because it maybe it's not going

  494. to be the most beneficial. Lord, all

  495. I'll do is pray. I believe, Lord,

  496. whatever it is, I'm going to do what

  497. you've called me to do. And then I give

  498. the results of the conversations of the

  499. prayer of obedience, I give them to you

  500. cuz you are God.

  501. And if you ask me to step out, I'm going

  502. to step out. If you tell me to hold on,

  503. I'm going to hold on. I just want to be

  504. obedient and let you open the doors that

  505. I cannot open on my own.

  506. This is a big moment.

  507. In fact, when I think about our value of

  508. missions, I think so often we can get

  509. ahead of ourselves, whether it's local,

  510. whether it's people we love and care

  511. for. Maybe maybe people in in the room

  512. that man, God is doing something

  513. special. And we're like, Lord, I'm not

  514. sure how to do it. Well, what all that

  515. we're called to do is to pray. We're

  516. called to obey. We're called to follow.

  517. And when God opens the door into homes

  518. and neighborhoods and nations and

  519. hearts, then we step through the door

  520. and we take a step forward into the

  521. things of God.

  522. I've been in the last few weeks, I've

  523. been reading some books that have been

  524. so challenging. They've been so good.

  525. One was called The God Smuggler, just

  526. about how they smuggled Bible Bibles and

  527. did amazing things in places that they

  528. weren't allowed to or able to. Another

  529. one is the next one I read is called The

  530. Insanity of God. The amazing stories of

  531. miraculous things that took place over

  532. and over and over again. And then the

  533. followup to that book was called The

  534. Insanity of Obedience.

  535. That when we are willing to truly say

  536. yes to what God has and not have to rely

  537. on our strength or understanding,

  538. everything in life changes.

  539. Because you don't have to be smart

  540. enough or good enough or have all the

  541. connections you need. You don't have to

  542. have anything besides, Lord, I'm going

  543. to listen to what you say. Because then

  544. when you need wisdom, he'll give it to

  545. you. When you need strength, he'll give

  546. you the strength that you need. When you

  547. need connections, he'll put the people

  548. in the place at the time for you to

  549. accomplish. Because it's not you trying

  550. to figure it out. And that goes from

  551. missions overseas. It goes from missions

  552. of us living on mission, doing what God

  553. has called us to do. It goes to us just

  554. doing our best. Lord, we want to serve

  555. you and we want to honor you. We want to

  556. give you glory. We want to live for you,

  557. Lord. I need your help. And church,

  558. we've got to stop trying to be the ones

  559. that accomplish everything. And instead,

  560. let God be God. Let God show up. Let God

  561. give us wisdom. And all we have to do is

  562. take a step where he's telling us to go

  563. and accomplish that little thing and

  564. say, "Lord, I get to take off the cares

  565. and the worries and the anxieties of

  566. trying to be God in my life because I

  567. can't be. I want you to know you cannot.

  568. You're you're a terrible God in your

  569. life.

  570. We're terrible gods in our own lives and

  571. definitely when we try to be God over

  572. others. No, we can't do it. And instead,

  573. Lord, you created us. You made us. You

  574. know us. You knit us together. No one

  575. knows us, our health, our situation, our

  576. finances, anything about us better than

  577. the God who created us. And when we all

  578. of a sudden let God be God in our life,

  579. everything changes.

  580. I want you to hear. If Jesus can open a

  581. prison door, he can open a way home for

  582. you. He can give you exactly what you

  583. need. Whatever that is today, he can do

  584. it. Peter was in the place about above

  585. any other. You would not want to be a

  586. follower of Jesus with Herod putting him

  587. to death with centuries and chains and

  588. all things. He was not getting out of

  589. there until God showed up. And I think

  590. someone needs to hear today. Maybe

  591. you're not going to get out of your

  592. situation or get to the other side

  593. except for God showing up. And I think

  594. the Bible would tell us that's a pretty

  595. good place to be actually. Lord, I'm

  596. just going to do what you've called me

  597. to do. I'm going to keep moving. I'm

  598. going to keep being faithful. I'm going

  599. to keep stepping forward. And Lord, I

  600. know I can trust you. And I don't care

  601. if you're a student in the room, if

  602. you're a little more seasoned in life,

  603. maybe you're on the other side. Wherever

  604. you are, you can trust God to accomplish

  605. his purpose and his work in your life.

  606. And there's nothing quite like living

  607. that kind of life with him.

  608. Jesus is the one that opens a way home

  609. for you.

  610. As we continue this morning and head

  611. towards the end of our our time together

  612. here, the last several verses go on in

  613. verse 12. when he realized that he or he

  614. went to the house of Mary, the mother of

  615. John, whose other name was Mark, where

  616. many were gathered together and were

  617. praying. And when he knocked at the door

  618. of the gateway, a servant girl named Roa

  619. came to answer. Recognizing Peter's

  620. voice, in her joy, she did not open the

  621. gate, but ran in and reported that Peter

  622. was standing in the gate. They said to

  623. her, "You are out of your mind." Now,

  624. real fast, I just I love this. Like I

  625. love the Bible. Just the details.

  626. Sometimes you want more. But then I love

  627. the ones they give. The girl knew it was

  628. Peter. She recognized him. They had been

  629. together. Like she knew this and she

  630. leaves him there. Like hopefully you're

  631. safe for a little while longer. It's

  632. fine. Just stay out there. But then I

  633. feel like sometimes this is what we do

  634. as Christians, followers of Jesus. We

  635. believe in the power of prayer enough to

  636. be praying inside. We're having a prayer

  637. meeting for Peter to be released. And

  638. she says, "Peter's here." And they're

  639. like, "No way. You're out of your mind.

  640. That's crazy talk." Right? Anybody like,

  641. "Lord, help me with my unbelief." Like,

  642. "I believe, but also help me with my

  643. unbelief." Cuz sometimes we're like,

  644. "Peter is here. I'm going to leave

  645. because you know, I'm going to tell

  646. every impossible." Like all the things

  647. of how we live. And sometimes we know,

  648. but we struggle to to walk in it. But

  649. thankfully, God is good.

  650. She kept insisting that it was so. And

  651. they kept saying, "It is his angel." But

  652. Peter continued knocking. And when they

  653. opened, they saw him and were amazed,

  654. but motioning to them with his hand to

  655. be silent. He described to them how the

  656. Lord had brought him out of prison. And

  657. he said, "Tell these things to James and

  658. to the brothers." Then he departed and

  659. went to another place.

  660. Jesus opened the door so one more person

  661. can come home. I just find it amazing

  662. Peter his life he goes he says hello

  663. basically hey you can stop praying for

  664. this situation I'm good and what does he

  665. do he then departs and goes to another

  666. place he gets right back on the road he

  667. gets right back to sharing who Jesus is

  668. he gets right back to talking about the

  669. power of God why because a little bit of

  670. persecution

  671. even being on death's doorstep it felt

  672. like and it seemed like besides the

  673. power of God when God calls us we keep

  674. taking steps. We keep moving forward. We

  675. keep saying, "Lord, what do you have me

  676. to do?

  677. What's my next step with my family

  678. member? I love them. I want them to know

  679. Jesus. What's my next step? Lord, I'm

  680. trying, but I'm just struggling in my

  681. life or my own walk with you, Lord.

  682. There's these addictions. There's these

  683. things. I don't know what to do. But

  684. Lord, would you help me?" Guess what,

  685. church? Jesus can show up. Jesus can

  686. move. Jesus can open the door. Jesus can

  687. give you exactly what you need in the

  688. moment you need him. And I want to

  689. encourage us. Let's let the Lord build

  690. us a little bit of faith in us that we

  691. say, "Lord, when you knock on that door,

  692. I'm opening. I'm not going to think

  693. about it. I'm not going to question it.

  694. Lord, when you ask me to go talk to

  695. somebody, I'm just going to do it."

  696. Like, what's the worst that's going to

  697. happen? I'm going to do it. Lord, when

  698. you give me a word and it seems just a

  699. little too much, Lord, I'm just going to

  700. obey what you would say. It lines up

  701. with your word, so I'm going to do it.

  702. Lord, I'm going going to listen to what

  703. you have

  704. because Jesus, you keep opening the

  705. door.

  706. Jesus, you keep guiding. Jesus, you keep

  707. directing.

  708. And when we think about missions, it's

  709. not about expanding our church. It's not

  710. about what we get, but missions is about

  711. God extending God's invitation to one

  712. more person and getting to do it over

  713. and over and over again. so that one

  714. more person that needs him can know him.

  715. Cuz church, if you know Jesus, you know

  716. that's the greatest thing. He's done so

  717. much. And even while we're figuring out

  718. how to walk in him and to be who he's

  719. called us to be, it's the best. And we

  720. want to let one more person know about

  721. who he is.

  722. And whether that's local and we're

  723. sharing him right across the street,

  724. community partners near us, people that

  725. are are right here, us just taking the

  726. gospel to our world. We need to let

  727. people know that he matters. We need to

  728. let people know who he is. Whether it's

  729. global and it's literally on the other

  730. side of the world and maybe we're never

  731. going to get to share with those people.

  732. We're never going to get to see them,

  733. but we get to see them through

  734. missionaries and through sending and

  735. through giving and through praying.

  736. Whatever it is, Lord, we want to see

  737. that one more person cuz you keep

  738. opening the door. And we want the

  739. invitation to go to one more person.

  740. We want the invitation to be spread so

  741. one more person can know who you are.

  742. You know, when I think about this

  743. message and I think about Peter and I

  744. think about the faith that he had and

  745. the faith that the church had to pray

  746. for him, but also like us so often than

  747. to say you no, the miracle couldn't have

  748. happened. Church, it's time for us to

  749. rise up and say, "Lord, what we're

  750. praying for, what we're giving to, what

  751. we're believing for on the other side of

  752. the world, it's going to happen. And

  753. Lord, what we're believing for and

  754. asking for and praying for right here in

  755. Dublin, Ohio, it's going to happen

  756. because you, God, in your power, in your

  757. grace, in your goodness, you're the one

  758. that makes it happen. You're the one

  759. that opens the door. You're the one that

  760. brings freedom to the captive. You're

  761. the one that comes and helps us and

  762. helps others know who you are.

  763. He's the one.

  764. There's nothing quite like it.

  765. This week, I mentioned just running and

  766. getting to talk to this guy and his

  767. wife, but there were some weird things

  768. that happened this week at our golf

  769. league on Sunday night. One of the guys

  770. that was a friend of somebody that

  771. attends our church, he he had a stroke.

  772. Like, we had to call the ambulance right

  773. there. And John Penrose, you can keep

  774. him in your prayer, but he had a stroke.

  775. And by the grace of God, he is almost

  776. 100% like today. And Eddie and some

  777. others that were out there golfing with

  778. him called the squad immediately. They

  779. were there in less than 5 minutes. Like

  780. God did a miracle. It was amazing. Like

  781. God is doing things right. We prayed. We

  782. believed. And the doctors like it's

  783. amazing that he's had this stroke. He's

  784. a little older. He's had some heart

  785. issues, but God has did something in

  786. him. church on Monday night. This is

  787. crazy. But right out here in our soccer

  788. fields, one of the coaches had a heart

  789. attack or a something horrible. And for

  790. 20 minutes, they were doing compressions

  791. on him. They couldn't get his pulse. And

  792. I want you to pray with us that this guy

  793. that Justin York, he is at Riverside

  794. fighting for his life. And could we

  795. believe, but the fact that he even got

  796. to get to Riverside is a miracle. The

  797. doctors, I can't believe that he's back.

  798. And could we pray that he

  799. is fully healed and restored. And I'll

  800. tell you what, that would be nothing

  801. short of an absolute God miracle.

  802. And you know what? Maybe in your life,

  803. it's not health. Maybe it's something

  804. else. Maybe there's a situation. But I

  805. want you to know God is still healing.

  806. He's still touching people that when

  807. they have strokes and they're already

  808. having some health concerns that God can

  809. still save and protect and bring

  810. somebody through. when someone has a

  811. heart attack and they didn't think we're

  812. they were going to get him back at all,

  813. but all of a sudden he he's doing better

  814. and squeezing hands and things are

  815. happen. It's like, Lord, we don't know

  816. how, but you're working and miraculous

  817. and I want you to know that maybe today

  818. your thing doesn't seem quite that big,

  819. but God sees you. He knows you. And

  820. there's not big and small with God.

  821. There's people that he loves and people

  822. he cares about, and you are one of them.

  823. And today, before we go have some shaved

  824. ice, before we have a just a time of

  825. hanging out, hopefully you can stay and

  826. spend some time. I want to give a few

  827. opportunities this morning

  828. that we would first of all, maybe you're

  829. here and you'd say, "Man, I've never

  830. given my life to Jesus. There's nothing

  831. better." That's why we are here as a

  832. church family is Lord. We want one more

  833. person to know you. That's why we're

  834. here. That's why we come to church.

  835. That's why because it's what we are

  836. called to do in the word of God. the

  837. commission that Jesus gave us. And if

  838. you're here and you say, "I feel the

  839. Lord is speaking to me. I believe he

  840. died. He rose again." What we celebrate

  841. around Easter, that's not just something

  842. that we do, just a holiday, but that's

  843. our Jesus. He did that for us. He took

  844. our sin and our shame. And if that's you

  845. today, you can say yes to him.

  846. And then for everyone, I also want to

  847. give the opportunity. Maybe the Lord is

  848. doing something and you say, "I'm

  849. struggling. There's there's a need in my

  850. body. There's a door that needs to be

  851. opened. There's a addiction that I want

  852. to be set free from. There's a kid or a

  853. family member that I'm praying and

  854. believing for you. Whatever it might be,

  855. my finances, Lord, I'm trying, but I

  856. don't know. Whatever it is, today we're

  857. going to pray that God will do a work in

  858. your life, in your situation, that he

  859. will open and he will close, that he

  860. will give you what you need because,

  861. church, he's still a miracle working

  862. God. And then we're going to close just

  863. by praying for our mission partners

  864. that we get to be a part of supporting

  865. and building up and we get to be a part

  866. of of giving and we get to be a part of

  867. all of these elements. Church, there's

  868. people all over the world that right now

  869. because of your faithfulness and your

  870. support, local and global, they're going

  871. to carry the gospel to maybe places that

  872. we could never go. And I specifically

  873. want to lift up our Ohio State

  874. University team, several that are in the

  875. room that are our missionaries to Ohio

  876. State that God that the group just gets

  877. bigger and bigger and being with you

  878. guys uh maybe two weeks ago and seeing

  879. 80 90 students that were there for a

  880. welcome event getting to cook them some

  881. hot dogs and hamburgers like it was so

  882. much fun. God is moving and let's pray

  883. and believe that OSU there would be an

  884. absolute revival and things that have

  885. been happening and moving that it just

  886. continues to flourish.

  887. And so first today I just want to give

  888. the opportunity if you say you know what

  889. I want to give my life to Jesus. I want

  890. to make him Lord of my life. In fact

  891. maybe if we could just bow our heads and

  892. close our eyes not because we have to to

  893. pray but just to focus in on Jesus.

  894. If you say you know what I want to make

  895. Jesus the Lord of my life.

  896. What we read about in scripture who he

  897. is. I want him to be my God and my king.

  898. and I want forgiveness of the sin that

  899. has been done to me and that I have

  900. caused or committed against others.

  901. If that's you, I'm just going to ask you

  902. to be real bold. And right now, would

  903. you just raise your hand all over this

  904. room? I just want to see your hand. I

  905. want to uh be able to pray with you. And

  906. on my left side, your right side, is

  907. there anybody you say that's me? That

  908. you say, I want to raise my hand and

  909. just say that's me. I want to pray and

  910. give Jesus my life. Is there anybody

  911. over here? What about on my right side,

  912. your left side that you say that's me?

  913. Anybody? I don't want to miss it. This

  914. is the most important thing that we

  915. possibly can do.

  916. Jesus is so good. Jesus is so good.

  917. And I want to encourage you if after the

  918. service, uh, Pastor Matt, he's standing

  919. over here to my left and he would love

  920. to to pray with you, to encourage you.

  921. But if you, that was you, or maybe

  922. you're at home and you say, "All I want

  923. to make Jesus Lord." All you have to do

  924. is pray, "Lord, forgive me of my sins. I

  925. make you the Lord of my life. I want to

  926. serve you for the rest of my life. Would

  927. you help me? Thank you, Jesus. In your

  928. own way, whatever word you would use,

  929. repent and ask him to be Lord, and he

  930. welcomes you. And now, if we, if you're

  931. able, can we just stand to our feet this

  932. morning?

  933. And if you have a need in your life, you

  934. have someone you're believing for,

  935. someone you're asking God for, we're

  936. going to pray. We're going to ask him to

  937. do a work in your life that is

  938. transformational, that does something

  939. special, maybe healing in your body,

  940. that a loved one would come to know

  941. Jesus. We've talked recently about for

  942. the one. Who's your one? Who's the

  943. person you're praying and believing for?

  944. Victor and Pamel, you might have to find

  945. a new one. That's what we want. They've

  946. got it. I I figured you did. Right. One

  947. down. Lord Jesus, do it again. Let's

  948. pray and believe. And then we're going

  949. to close just by praying for our

  950. missionaries. So Lord, right now I'm

  951. thankful for this church. Lord, I'm

  952. thankful for a people that want to grow

  953. in you and be more like you, Lord. that

  954. want your word not only to be something

  955. that we think is good, but Lord, that

  956. literally transforms our lives that we

  957. live on the power of your word. And

  958. Lord, we pray this morning that the

  959. needs and the situations that the prison

  960. walls that need to be opened, Lord, that

  961. maybe we need you to show up and to help

  962. us and to guide us, Lord Jesus, like the

  963. story we heard that you showed up and

  964. the the young man gave his life to you

  965. and repented and has been in church and

  966. bringing his kids to church. Lord, we're

  967. thankful that you still move and

  968. whatever the needs would be in this

  969. room, we ask you to work in miraculous

  970. ways to bring healing, to bring

  971. wholeness, to bring finances into

  972. alignment, to bring a relationship

  973. issues back together as they should be.

  974. Lord, we pray for those that are lost

  975. among us, our family, our friends, our

  976. co-workers. Lord, the ones in our life,

  977. Lord, would you bring healing and

  978. wholeness to them and to their their

  979. hearts and who they are? Lord, we ask

  980. you for your move. We ask you for your

  981. grace. We ask you for healing, Lord. We

  982. pray for Justin York, who Lord's

  983. fighting for his life right now. We pray

  984. his heart would work, but we pray his

  985. mind. Lord, we pray that there would be

  986. no damage. And that by an absolute

  987. miracle of you alone, God, we pray that

  988. he would be healed and he would be

  989. whole. And Lord, what you've only done

  990. would only be the beginning, God. Lord,

  991. we're thankful. We're thankful for John

  992. Penrose, Lord, that that stroke didn't

  993. cause crazy damage. and we pray that any

  994. damage that has been done would be wiped

  995. out and you would heal him and make him

  996. whole. Jesus. Thank you for sparing him.

  997. Lord, we just are thankful for your

  998. goodness. Whatever these people, each

  999. one of us need, God, would you move in

1000. us, through us, and we pray we'd be able

1001. to see it. And Lord, as Pamela said, I

1002. pray that you would give us patience.

1003. Lord, it might have been six years.

1004. Sometimes we have to be patient to wait

1005. for that miracle. And Lord, let us be

1006. steadfast in prayer. Let us stand on

1007. your word. Let us believe it. And Lord,

1008. we know you are going to answer. So we

1009. thank you today. And Lord, as we close

1010. this time, we think of our missionaries.

1011. We think of missions, Lord, local and

1012. global. We think of Revive Church

1013. Hilltop who's having service right now.

1014. Just got kicked off, I think, at 11:00.

1015. We pray for our brothers and sisters,

1016. Lord, that you would move in them. Lord,

1017. for global missionaries, our partners,

1018. all 75 of them. God, we ask you that you

1019. would move. there would be breakthrough,

1020. that your power and your goodness would

1021. flow, God. Lord, we're thankful that we

1022. don't only do church on Sunday, but we

1023. meet with you, God. And then, Lord, we

1024. get to be a part of seeing our world

1025. come to know you. And God, we stand on

1026. it. So, we thank you for we're thankful

1027. for our missionaries, for the leaders,

1028. Lord, literally all over the globe, God.

1029. And we ask you to pour your spirit out

1030. in a mighty and in a powerful way. And

1031. Lord, we're thankful for our Ohio State

1032. Kai director, for our team that's here

1033. today. Lord, we pray for the near

1034. hundred or so students that are a part

1035. of Kypha. God, we pray for the 30some

1036. student leaders that are a part. God, we

1037. ask you for the the supernatural work of

1038. your spirit. We pray for revival on the

1039. Ohio State University campus, God. Lord,

1040. we pray for more students, for more

1041. leaders, for all the finances, for

1042. whatever they need to accomplish the

1043. work that you've put them to accomplish,

1044. God. Lord, we're thankful for them.

1045. Lord, we love you, Lord. We glorify you,

1046. Lord Jesus. You are everything and you

1047. have it. So, Lord, pour your spirit out

1048. on them. And though we pray we would

1049. hear of testimony after testimony after

1050. testimony after testimony, God, of how

1051. you showed up and you opened doors that

1052. were locked shut, but God, nothing's

1053. locked with you because you don't need

1054. permission. So Lord, we thank you and we

1055. praise you today. You are everything.

1056. Lord, I'm so thankful for this church.

1057. I'm so thankful for this family. Lord,

1058. the Rad fam, Lord, let us grow in you. I

1059. just feel today that you are proud of

1060. these people, Lord. Maybe we're not all

1061. perfect. We're figuring it out. But Lord

1062. Jesus, we're taking a step towards you

1063. and we're thankful for it. We love you.

1064. We thank you and we praise you, Jesus.

1065. You are so good. You are so good. In

1066. your name we pray. Amen. Come on,

1067. church. Our God is good this morning.

  1068. He's good.

1069. And as I mentioned, Pastor Matt, he's

1070. going to be right over here. And if you

1071. just want more information about Jesus,

1072. you want prayed for, he would love to

1073. encourage you and build you up. But one

1074. more thing before you leave is in the

1075. foyer, we have our life group fair. We

1076. have lifeg group leaders. In fact,

1077. they're leaving all over the room.

1078. They're going to get in position. And we

1079. believe in family here. That's one of

1080. our values. One of our grow steps in how

1081. do I grow is by joining a life group.

1082. And we have special groups. We have

1083. groups for ladies. We have Bible studies

1084. for men and for women. We have life

1085. groups that are in homes that are are

1086. with people. We have uh uh grief share.

1087. Maybe you've walked through some pain,

1088. some grief in your life, maybe in the

1089. last weeks or months or maybe years. But

1090. you see, I want to I want someone to

1091. help me walk through it. Monday nights

1092. is grief share. There's various

1093. different groups. And I want to

1094. encourage you. Would you take a few

1095. minutes? Would you stop by the life

1096. group fair? Would you get signed up? If

  1097. you're not connected here, there's no

1098. better way. Get connected out there.

1099. It's going to be powerful. And then

1100. there is shaved ice uh outside and it's

1101. going to be just a great time. So just

1102. encourage you spend some time, hang out

1103. a little bit and let's go after Jesus

1104. even as we're just encouraging. Maybe

1105. pray for one another. Meet somebody new.

1106. Be bold today. This is a great way to do

1107. it. Hi, my name is and you would assume

1108. that you can then follow up with your

1109. name, right? Like let's make it happen

1110. out there. Last thing, Wednesday night,

1111. altar revival. It's going to be

1112. powerful. Be here 7 o'clock. You do not

1113. want to miss it. We're going to have a a

1114. short word I'm going to give at the

1115. beginning. Then we're going to spend at

1116. least an hour of worship and prayer

1117. going after Jesus. And we know he's

1118. going to work believing for miracles for

1119. the power of God that he's going to

1120. speak to his church this Wednesday.

1121. Altra revival. Love you all. Radiant

1122. Life, you are amazing. Have an amazing

1123. uh Labor Day tomorrow. A great week and

1124. we can't wait to see you Wednesday night

1125. uh and all that God is doing. But this

1126. week, Rad Life, be careful what you

1127. watch, be careful what you listen to, be

1128. careful what you talk about. savor the

1129. presence of Jesus. Have a great week.
