  1. Romans.

  2. Romans one Paul, a servant of Christ, Jesus called to

  3. be an apostles set apart for the Gospel of God,

  4. which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the Holy

  5. Scriptures concerning his son, who was descended from David according

  6. to the flesh, and was declared to be the son

  7. of God in power according to the spirit of holiness,

  8. by his resurrection from the dead. Jesus Christ, our Lord,

  9. through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring

  10. about the obedience of faith for the sake of his.

  11. Name among all the nations, including you who are called

  12. to belong to Jesus Christ, to all those in Rome

  13. who are loved by God and called to be saints.

  14. Grace to you and peace from God, our Father and

  15. the Lord Jesus Christ. First, I thank my God through

  16. Jesus Christ, for all of you, because your faith is

  17. proclaimed in all the world. For God is my witness,

  18. whom I serve with my spirit in the Gospel of

  19. his Son, that without ceasing I mention you always in

  20. my prayers, asking that somehow, by God's will, I may

  21. now at last succeed in coming to you. For I

  22. long to see you, that I may impart to you

  23. some spiritual gift to strengthen you, that is, that we

  24. may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours

  25. and mine. I want you to know, brothers, that I

  26. have often intended to come to you, but thus far

  27. have been prevented, in order that I may reap some

  28. harvest among you, as well as among the rest of

  29. the Gentiles. I am under obligation both to Greeks and

  30. to Barbarians, both to the wise and to the foolish.

  31. So I am eager to preach the Gospel to you also,

  32. who are in Rome. For I am not ashamed of

  33. the Gospel, for it is the power of God for

  34. salvation to everyone who believes, to the jew first, and

  35. also to the Greek, for in it the righteousness of

  36. God is revealed from faith, for faith, as it is written,

  37. the righteous shall live by faith. For the wrath of

  38. God is revealed from Heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness

  39. of men who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For

  40. what can be known about God as plain to them,

  41. because God has shown it to them for his invisible attributes,

  42. namely his eternal power and divine nature have been clearly

  43. perceived ever since the creation of the world in the

  44. things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

  45. For although they knew God, they did not honor him

  46. as God or give thanks to him. But they became

  47. feudal in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

  48. Claiming to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the

  49. glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man,

  50. and birds and animals and creeping things. Therefore, God gave

  51. them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity,

  52. to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they

  53. exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped

  54. and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is

  55. blessed forever Amen. For this reason, God gave them up

  56. to dishonorable passions for their women exchange natural relations for

  57. those that are contrary to nature. And the men, like one,

  58. gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with

  59. passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men

  60. and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

  61. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God.

  62. God gave them.

  63. Up to a debased mind to do what ought not

  64. to be done. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice.

  65. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They

  66. are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors

  67. of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Though

  68. they know God's decree that those who practice such things

  69. deserve to die, they not only do them, but give

  70. approval to those who.

  71. Practice them Romans too. Therefore, you have no excuse, o man,

  72. every one of you who judges, for in passing judgment

  73. on another, you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice

  74. the very same things. We know that the judgment of

  75. God rightly falls on those who practice such things. Do

  76. you suppose, oh man, you who judge those who practice

  77. such things and yet to them yourself, that you will

  78. escape the judgment of God? Or do you presume on

  79. the riches of His kindness and forbearance and patience, not

  80. knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance.

  81. But because of your heart and impenant and heart, you

  82. are storing up wrath for yourself. On the day of wrath,

  83. when God's righteous judgment will be revealed, he will render

  84. to each one according to his works. To those who,

  85. by patience and well doing, seek for glory and honor

  86. and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for those

  87. who are self seeking and do not obey the truth,

  88. but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury. There

  89. will be tribulation and distress for every human being who

  90. does evil, the Jew first, and also the Greek. But

  91. glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good,

  92. the Jew first and also the Greek. For God shows

  93. no partiality. For all who have sinned without the law

  94. will also perish without the law. And all who have

  95. sinned under the law will be judged by the law.

  96. For it is not the hearers of the law who

  97. are righteous before God, the doers of the law who

  98. will be justified. For when gentiles who do not have

  99. the law by nature do what the law requires, they

  100. are a law to themselves. Even though they do not

  101. have the law. They show that the work of the

  102. law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also

  103. bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse

  104. them on that day when according to my Gospel, God

  105. judges the secrets of men by Christ Jesus. But if

  106. you call yourself a Jew, and rely on the law,

  107. and boast in God, and know his will, and approve

  108. what is excellent, because you are instructed from the law.

  109. And if you are sure that you yourself are a

  110. guide to the blind, a light to those who are

  111. in darkness, an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of children,

  112. having in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth.

  113. You then teach others. Do you not teach yourself? While

  114. you preach against stealing? Do you steal? You who say

  115. that one must not commit adultery? Do you commit adultery?

  116. You who have poor idols? Do you rob temples? You

  117. who boast in the law, dishonor God by breaking the law?

  118. For as it is written, the name of God is

  119. blasphemed among the gentiles because of you. For circumcision, indeed,

  120. is of value if you obey the law. But if

  121. you break the law, your circumcision becomes uncircumcision. So if

  122. a man who is uncircumcised keeps the precepts of the law,

  123. will not his uncircumcision be regarded as circumcision. Then he

  124. who is physically uncircumcised but keeps the law, will condemn

  125. you who have the written code and circumcision but break

  126. the law. For no one is a Jew who is

  127. merely one outwardly, Nor is circumcision outward and physical. But

  128. a Jew is one inwardly, And circumcision is a matter

  129. of the heart, by the spirit, not by the letter.

  130. His praise is not from man but from God Romans three.

  131. Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the

  132. value of circumcision? Much in every way? To begin with,

  133. the Jews were entrusted with the oracles of God. What

  134. if some were unfaithful? Does their faithlessness the faithfulness of God?

  135. By no means? Let God be true though everyone were

  136. a liar. As it is written that you may be

  137. justified in your words and prevail when you are judged.

  138. But if our unrighteousness serves to show the righteousness of God,

  139. what shall we say that God is unrighteous to inflict

  140. wrath on us? I speak in a human way by

  141. no means, For then how could God judge the world.

  142. But if through my lie, God's truth abounds to his glory,

  143. why am I still being condemned as a sinner? And

  144. why not do evil that good may come? As some

  145. people slanderously charge us with, saying that their condemnation is just. What,

  146. then are we Jews any better off? No, not at all,

  147. For we have already charged that all both Jews and

  148. Greeks are under sin. As it is written, none is righteous,

  149. no not one. No one understands, no one seeks for God.

  150. All have turned aside. Together. They have become worthless. No

  151. one does good, not even one. Their throat is an

  152. open grave. They use their tongues to deceive. The venom

  153. of asps is under their lips. Their mouth is full

  154. of curses and bitterness. Their feet are swift to shed blood.

  155. In their paths are ruin and misery, and the way

  156. of peace they have not known. There is no fear

  157. of God before their eyes. Now we know that whatever

  158. the law says, it speaks to those who are under

  159. the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and

  160. the whole world may be held accountable to God. God,

  161. for by works of the law, no human being will

  162. be justified in his sight, since through the law comes

  163. knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God has

  164. been manifested apart from the law, although the law and

  165. the prophets bear witness to it. The righteousness of God

  166. through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For

  167. there is no distinction, for all have sinned and fall

  168. short of the glory of God, and are justified by

  169. His grace as a gift through the redemption that is

  170. in Christ, Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation

  171. by his blood to be received by faith. This was

  172. to show God's righteousness because in his divine forbearance he

  173. had passed over former sins. It was to show his

  174. righteousness at the present time, so that He might be

  175. just and the justifier of the one who has faith

  176. in Jesus. Then what becomes of our boasting? It is

  177. excluded by what kind of law, by a law of works? No,

  178. but by the law of faith. For we hold that

  179. one is justified by faith apart from works of the law.

  180. Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he

  181. not the God of gentiles? Also yes of gentiles? Also

  182. since God is one who will justify the circumcised by

  183. faith and the uncircumcised through faith. Do we then overthrow

  184. the law by this faith by no means? On the contrary,

  185. we uphold the law Romans. For what, then, shall we say,

  186. was gained by Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh.

  187. For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something

  188. to boast about, but not before God. For what does

  189. the scripture say? Abraham believed God, and it was counted

  190. to him as righteousness. Now to the one who works,

  191. his wages are not counted as a gift, but as

  192. his due. And to the one who does not work,

  193. but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith

  194. is counted as righteousness. Just as David also speaks of

  195. the blessing of the one to whom God counts righteousness.

  196. Apart from works. Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are

  197. forgiven and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man

  198. against whom the Lord will not count his sin. Is

  199. this blessing then, only for the circumcised, or also so

  200. for the uncircumcised. We say that faith was counted to

  201. Abraham as righteousness. How then was it counted to him?

  202. Was it before or after he had been circumcised. It

  203. was not after, but before he was circumcised. He received

  204. the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness

  205. that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised.

  206. The purpose was to make him the father of all

  207. who believe without being circumcised, so that righteousness would be

  208. counted to them as well, and to make him the

  209. father of the circumcised, who are not merely circumcised, but

  210. who also walk in the footsteps of the faith that

  211. our father Abraham had before he was circumcised. For the

  212. promise to Abraham and his offspring that he would be

  213. heir of the world did not come through the law,

  214. but through the righteousness of faith. For if it is

  215. the adherents of the law who are to be the heirs,

  216. faith is null and the promise is void, for the

  217. law brings wrath. But where there is no law, there

  218. is no transgression. That is why it depends on faith

  219. in order that the promise may rest on grace and

  220. be guaranteed to all his offspring, not only to the

  221. adherent of the law, but also to the one who

  222. shares the faith of Abraham, who is the father of

  223. us all. As it is written, I have made you

  224. the father of many nations, in the presence of the

  225. God in whom he believed, who gives life to the

  226. dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist.

  227. In hope. He believed against hope that he should become

  228. the father of many nations, as he had been told,

  229. so shall your offspring be. He did not wish in

  230. faith when he considered his own body, which was as

  231. good as dead since he was about one hundred years old,

  232. or when he considered the barrenness of Sarah's womb. No

  233. distrust made him waver concerning the promise of God. But

  234. he grew strong his faith as he gave glory to God,

  235. fully convinced that God was able to do what he

  236. had promised. That is why his faith was counted to

  237. him as righteousness. But the words it was counted to

  238. him were not written for his sake alone, but for

  239. ours also. It will be counted to us who believe

  240. in Him who raised from the dead, Jesus our Lord,

  241. who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for

  242. our justification Romans five. Therefore, since we have been justified

  243. by faith. We have peace with God through our Lord

  244. Jesus Christ. Through him, we have also obtained access by

  245. faith into this grace in which we stand. And we

  246. rejoice in hope of the glory of God. More than that,

  247. we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance,

  248. and endurance produces character, and character produces hope. And hope

  249. does not put us to shame, because God's love has

  250. been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who

  251. has been given to us. For while we were still

  252. weak at the right time, Christ died for the ungodly.

  253. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person, though

  254. perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die.

  255. But God shows his love for us in that, while

  256. we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since therefore

  257. we have now been justified by His blood. Much more

  258. shall we be saved by Him from the wrath of God.

  259. For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to

  260. God by the death of his son, much more now

  261. that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by His life.

  262. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our

  263. Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation. Therefore,

  264. just as sin came into the world through one man,

  265. and death through sin, and so death spread to all

  266. men because all sin for sin indeed was in the

  267. world before the law was given. But sin is not

  268. counted where there is no life. Awe. Yet death reigned

  269. from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sinning was

  270. not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type

  271. of the one who was to come. But the free

  272. gift is not like the trespass. For if many died

  273. through one man's trespass, much more have the grace of

  274. God and the free gift by the grace of that

  275. one man Jesus Christ, abounded for many. And the free

  276. gift is not like the result of that one man's sin.

  277. For the judgment following one trespass brought condemnation, but the

  278. free gift following many trespasses brought justification. For if because

  279. of one man's trespass, death reigned through that one man,

  280. much more will those who receive the abundance of grace

  281. and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through

  282. the one man Jesus Christ. Therefore, as one trespass led

  283. to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness

  284. leads to justification and life for all men. For as

  285. by the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners,

  286. so by the one man's obedience, the many will be

  287. made righteous. Now the law came in to increase the trespass.

  288. But where sin increased, grace abounded, all the more so

  289. that as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign

  290. through righteousness, leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ, our

  291. Lord Romans six. What shall we say, then, are we

  292. to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means?

  293. How can we who died to sin still live in it?

  294. Do you not know that all of us who have

  295. been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death.

  296. We were buried therefore with him by baptism and to death,

  297. in order that just as Christ was raised from the

  298. dead by the glory of the Father, we too might

  299. walk in newness of life. For if we have been

  300. united with Him and a death like his, we shall

  301. certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.

  302. We know that our old self was crucified with him

  303. in order that the body of sin might be brought

  304. to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved

  305. to sin. For one who has died has been set

  306. free from sin. Now we have died with Christ, we

  307. believe that we will also live with him. We know

  308. that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again.

  309. Death no longer has dominion over him. For the death

  310. he died, he died to sin once for all, but

  311. the life he lives, he lives to God. So you

  312. also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God.

  313. In Christ, Jesus, let not sin. Therefore, reign and your

  314. mortal body to make you obey its passions. Do not

  315. present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but

  316. present yourselves to God as those who have been brought

  317. from death to life, and your members to God as

  318. instruments for righteousness. For sin will have no dominion over you,

  319. since you are not under law but under grace, What

  320. then are we to sin? Because we are not under

  321. law but under grace means do you not know that

  322. if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you

  323. are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin,

  324. which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness.

  325. But thanks be to God that you, who were once

  326. slaves of sin, have become obedient from the heart to

  327. the standard of teaching to which you were committed, and

  328. having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness.

  329. I am speaking in human terms because of your natural limitations.

  330. For just as you once presented your members as slaves

  331. to impurity and to lawlessness, leading to more lawlessness, so

  332. now present your members as slaves to righteousness, leading to sanctification.

  333. For when you were slaves of sin, you were free

  334. in regard to righteousness. But what fruit were you getting

  335. at that time from the things of which you are

  336. now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.

  337. But now that you have been set free from sin

  338. and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get

  339. leads to sanctification and its end eternal life. For the

  340. wages of sin is death, but the free gift of

  341. God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord, Romans

  342. seven of it? Or do you not know, brothers, For

  343. I am speaking to those who know the law, that

  344. the law is binding on a person only as long

  345. as he lives. For a married woman is bound by

  346. law to her husband while he lives, but if her

  347. husband dies, she is released from the law of marriage. Accordingly,

  348. she will be called an adulteress if she lives with

  349. another man while her husband is alive. But if her

  350. husband dies, she is free from that law. And if

  351. she marries another man, she is not an adulteress. Likewise,

  352. my brothers, you also have died to the law through

  353. the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another,

  354. to him who has been raised from the dead, in

  355. order that we may bear fruit for God. For while

  356. we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused

  357. by the law, were at work in our members to

  358. bear fruit for death. But now we are released from

  359. the law, having died to that which held us captive,

  360. so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit,

  361. and not in the old way of the written code.

  362. What then, shall we say that the law is sin

  363. by no means? Yet, if it had not been for

  364. the law, aw, I would not have known sin, For

  365. I would not have known what it is to covet.

  366. If the law had not said, you shall not covet

  367. but sin seizing an opportunity through the commandment produced in

  368. me all kinds of covetousness. For apart from the law,

  369. sin lies dead. I was once alive apart from the law.

  370. But when the commandment came, sin came alive, and I died.

  371. The very commandment that promised life proved to be death

  372. to me. For sin seizing an opportunity through the commandment

  373. deceived me, and through it killed me. So the law

  374. is holy, and the Commandment is holy and righteous and good.

  375. Did that which is good then bring death to me?

  376. By no means. It was sin producing death in me

  377. through what is good, in order that sin might be

  378. shown to be sin, and through the commandment might become

  379. sinful beyond measure. For we know that the law is spiritual.

  380. But I am of the flesh sold under sin. For

  381. I do not understand my own actions, for I do

  382. not do what I want, but I do the very

  383. thing I hate. Now if I do what I do

  384. not want, I agree with the law that it is good.

  385. So now it is no longer I who do it,

  386. but sin that dwells within me. For I know that

  387. nothing good dwells in me, that is in my flesh.

  388. For I have the desire to do what is right,

  389. but not the ability to carry it out. For I

  390. do not do the good I want, but the evil

  391. I do not want is what I keep on doing. Now,

  392. if I do what I do not want, it is

  393. no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells

  394. within me. So I find it to be a law

  395. that when I want I want to do right, evil

  396. lies close at hand. For I delight in the law

  397. of God in my inner being, but I see in

  398. my members another law, waging war against the law of

  399. my mind, and making me captive to the law of

  400. sin that dwells in my members. Wretched man that I am,

  401. who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks

  402. be to God through Jesus Christ, our Lord. So then

  403. I myself serve the law of God with my mind,

  404. but with my flesh I serve the law of sin

  405. romans Ete. There is therefore now no condemnation for those

  406. who are in Christ Jesus, for the law of the

  407. Spirit of Life has set you free in Christ Jesus

  408. from the law of sin and death. For God has

  409. done with the law. Weakened by the flesh could not

  410. do by sending his own son in the likeness of

  411. sinful flesh, and for sin. He condemned sin in the

  412. flesh in order that the righteous requirement of the law

  413. might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to

  414. the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For those who

  415. live according to the flesh set their minds on the

  416. things of the flesh. But those who live according to

  417. the Spirit, set their minds on the things of the Spirit.

  418. For to set the mind on the flesh is death.

  419. But to set the mind on the Spirit is life

  420. and peace. For the mind that is set on the

  421. flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit

  422. to God's law. Indeed it cannot. Those who are in

  423. the flesh can not please God. You, however, are not

  424. in the flesh, but in the spirit. If in fact,

  425. the Spirit of God dwells in you, anyone who does

  426. not have the spirit of Christ does not belong to him.

  427. But if Christ is in you, although the body is

  428. dead because of sin, the spirit is life because of righteousness.

  429. If the spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the

  430. dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from

  431. the dead, will also give life to your mortal bodies

  432. through His Spirit, who dwells in you. So, then, brothers,

  433. we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according

  434. to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh,

  435. you will die. But if by the Spirit you put

  436. to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

  437. For all who are led by the Spirit of God

  438. are sons of God. For you did not receive the

  439. spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you

  440. have received the spirit of adoption as sons, by whom

  441. we cry Abbah Father. The Spirit himself bears witness with

  442. our spirit that we are children of God. And if children,

  443. then heirs heirs of God and fellow errs with Christ,

  444. provided we suffer with Him in order that we may

  445. also be glorified with Him. For I consider that the

  446. sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with

  447. the glory that is to be revealed to us. For

  448. the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of

  449. the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility,

  450. not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in

  451. hope that the creation itself will be set free from

  452. its bondage to corruptions and obtain the freedom of the

  453. glory of the children of God. For we know that

  454. the whole creation has been growing together in the pains

  455. of childbirth until now, and not only the creation, but

  456. we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit,

  457. grown inwardly, as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons

  458. the redemption of our bodies, for in this hope we

  459. were saved. Now, hope that is seen is not hope,

  460. for who hopes for what he sees. But if we

  461. hope for what we do not see, we wait for

  462. it with patience. Likewise, the Spirit helps us in our weakness,

  463. for we do not know what to pray for as

  464. we ought, But the Spirit himself intercedes for us with

  465. groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts

  466. knows what is the mind of the Spirit. Because the

  467. Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

  468. And we know that for those who love God, all

  469. things work together for good, for those those who are

  470. called according to His purpose, for those whom He foreknew

  471. He also predestined to be conformed to the image of

  472. his son, in order that he might be the firstborn

  473. among many brothers, and those whom he predestined he also called,

  474. and those whom he called he also justified, and those

  475. whom he justified he also glorified. What then, shall we

  476. say to these things? If God is for us, who

  477. can be against us? He who did not spare his

  478. own son, but gave him up for us all, How

  479. will he not also with him graciously give us all things.

  480. Who shall bring any charge against God's elect It is

  481. God who justifies who is to condemn Christ. Jesus is

  482. the one who died more than that who was raised,

  483. who is at the right hand of God, who indeed

  484. is interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the

  485. love of Christ. Shall tribulation or distress, or persecution or

  486. famine or nakedness or danger or sword as it is written,

  487. for your sake, we are being killed all the day long.

  488. We are regarded as she to be slaughtered. Know in

  489. all these things we are more than conquerors through Him

  490. who loved us. For I am sure that neither death

  491. nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor

  492. things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor

  493. anything else in all creation will be able to separate

  494. us from the love of God in Christ, Jesus our

  495. Lord Romans nine, I am speaking the truth in Christ.

  496. I am not lying. My conscience bears me witness and

  497. the Holy Spirit of it that I have great sorrow

  498. and unceasing anguish in my heart. For I could wish

  499. that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ

  500. for the sake of my brothers, my kinsmen. According to

  501. the flesh, they are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption,

  502. the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship,

  503. and the promises. To them belong the patriarchs. And from

  504. their race, according to the flesh is the Christ, who

  505. is God over all, blessed forever. Amen. But it is

  506. not as though the word of God has failed. For

  507. not all who are descended from Israel belonged to Israel,

  508. and not all are children of Abraham because they are

  509. his offspring. But through Isaac shall your offspring be named.

  510. This means that it is not the children of the

  511. flesh who are the children of God, but the children

  512. of the Promise are counted as offspring. For this is

  513. what the promise said about this time next year I

  514. will return, and Sarah shall have a son. And not

  515. only so, but also when Rebecca had conceived children by

  516. one man, our forefather, Isaac, though they were not yet

  517. born and had done nothing either good or bad, in

  518. order that God's purpose of election might continue, not because

  519. of works, but because of him who calls. She was

  520. told the older will serve the younger. As it is written,

  521. Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated. What shall we say, then?

  522. Is there injustice on God's part by no means? For

  523. he says to Moses, I will have mercy on whom

  524. I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom

  525. I have compassion. So then it depends not on human

  526. will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy. For

  527. the scripture says to Pharaoh, for this very purpose, I

  528. have raised you up that I might show my power

  529. in you, and that MY name might be proclaimed in

  530. all the earth. So then he has mercy on whomever

  531. he wills, and he hardens whoever he wills. You will

  532. say to me, then why does he still find fault?

  533. For who can resist his will? But who are you,

  534. oh man, to answer back to God? Will? What is

  535. molded say to its molder, why have you made me

  536. like this? Has the potter no right over the clay

  537. to make out of the same lump, one vessel for

  538. honorable use and another for dishonorable use. What if God,

  539. desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power,

  540. has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for

  541. destruction in order to make known the riches of his glory,

  542. for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand, for glory,

  543. even us, whom he has called, not from the Jews only,

  544. but also from the Gentiles. As indeed he says in Hoseiah,

  545. those who were not my people, I will call my people,

  546. and her who was not beloved, I will call beloved.

  547. And in the very place where it was said to

  548. them you are not my people, there they will be

  549. called sons of the Living God. And Isaiah cries out

  550. concerning Israel. Though the number of the sons of Israel

  551. be as the sand of the sea, only a remnant

  552. of them will be saved, for the Lord will carry

  553. out his sentence upon the earth fully and without delay.

  554. And as Isaiah predicted, if the Lord of Hosts had

  555. not left us, offspring, we would have been like Sodom

  556. and become like Gomorah. What shall we say then, that

  557. gentiles who did not pursue righteousness have attained it. That

  558. is a righteousness that is by faith. But that Israel,

  559. who pursue the law that would lead to righteousness did

  560. not succeed in reaching that law. Why because they did

  561. not pursue it by faith. But as if it were

  562. based on works, they have stumbled over the stumbling stone.

  563. As it is.

  564. Written, Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone of

  565. stumbling and rock of offense, and whoever believes in him

  566. will not be put to shame. Romans, ten brothers. My

  567. heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that

  568. they may be saved. For I bear them witness that

  569. they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge,

  570. for being ignorant of the righteousness of God and seeking

  571. to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness.

  572. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness

  573. to everyone who believes. For Moses' rights about the righteousness

  574. that it's based on the law that the person who

  575. does the commandments shall live by them. But the righteousness

  576. based on faith says, do not say in your heart,

  577. who will ascend into heaven, that is to bring Christ down,

  578. or who will descend into the abyss, that is to

  579. bring Christ up from the dead. But what does it say?

  580. The Word is near you, in your mouth and in

  581. your heart. That is the word of faith that we proclaim.

  582. Because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord,

  583. and believe in your heart that God raised him from

  584. the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart

  585. one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one

  586. confesses and is saved. For the scripture says everyone who

  587. believes in him will not be put to shame, for

  588. there is no distinction between jew and Greek. For the

  589. same Lord as Lord of all, bestowing his riches on

  590. all who call on him. For everyone who calls on

  591. the name of the Lord will be saved. How then,

  592. will they call on him in whom they have not believed?

  593. And how are they to believe in Him of whom

  594. they have never heard? And how are they to hear

  595. without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless

  596. they are sent? As it is written? How beautiful are

  597. the feet of those who preach the good news. But

  598. they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, Lord,

  599. who has believed what he has heard from us? So

  600. faith comes from hearing and hearing through the word of Christ.

  601. But I ask have they not heard? Indeed they have,

  602. for their voice has gone out to all the earth,

  603. and their words to the ends of the world. But

  604. I ask did Israel not understand? First? Moses says, I

  605. will make you jealous of those who are not a

  606. nation with a foolish nation. I will make you angry.

  607. Then Isaiah is so bold as to say, I have

  608. been found by those who did not seek me. I

  609. have shown myself to those who did not ask for me.

  610. But of Israel, he says, all day long, I have

  611. held out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people Romans.

  612. I ask, then, has God rejected his people by no means?

  613. For I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham,

  614. a member of the tribe of Benjamin. God he has

  615. not rejected his people, whom he foreknew. Do you not

  616. know what the scripture says of Elijah, how he appeals

  617. to God against Israel, Lord, they have killed your prophets.

  618. They have demolished your altars, and I alone am left,

  619. and they seek my life. But what is God's reply

  620. to him? I have kept for myself seven thousand men

  621. who have not bowed the knee to bail. So too

  622. at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace.

  623. But if it is by grace, it is no longer

  624. on the basis of words. Otherwise grace would no longer

  625. be grace. What then Israel failed to obtain what it

  626. was seeking. The elect obtained it, but the rest were hardened.

  627. As it is written, God gave them a spirit of stupor,

  628. eyes that would not see, and ears that would not hear.

  629. Down to this very day, and David says, let their

  630. table become a snare and a trap, a stumbling block,

  631. and a retribution for them. Let their eyes be darkened

  632. so that they cannot see and bend their backs forever.

  633. So I ask, did they stumble in order that they

  634. might fall? By no means? Rather, through their trespass, salvation

  635. has come to the gentiles, so as to make Israel jealous. Now,

  636. if their trespass means richest for the world, and if

  637. their failure means richest for the gentiles, how much more

  638. will their full inclusion mean. Now I am speaking to

  639. you Gentiles inasmuch then as I am an apostle to

  640. the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry in order somehow to

  641. make my fellow Jews jealous, and thus save some of them.

  642. For if their rejection means the reconciliation of the world,

  643. what will their acceptance mean but life from the daddem

  644. If the dough offered as first fruits is holy, so

  645. is the whole lump. And if the root is holy,

  646. so are the branches. But if some of the branches

  647. were broken off, and you, although a wild olive shoot,

  648. were grafted in among the others, and now share in

  649. the nourishing root of the olive tree, do not be

  650. arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is

  651. not you who support the root, but the root that

  652. supports you. Then you will say, branches were broken off

  653. so that I might be grafted in. That is true,

  654. they were broken off because of their unbelief. But you

  655. stand fast through faith. So do not become proud, but fear.

  656. For if God did not spare the natural branches, neither

  657. will he spare you. Note, then the kindness and the

  658. severity of God severity toward those who have fallen. But

  659. God's kindness to you provided you continue in his kindness.

  660. Otherwise you too will be cut off. And even they,

  661. if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be

  662. grafted in. For God has the power to graft them

  663. in again. For if you were cut from what is

  664. by nature a wild olive tree and grafted contrary to

  665. nature into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will

  666. these than natural branches be grafted back into their own

  667. olive tree. Lest you be wise in your own sight,

  668. I want you to understand this mystery. Brothers, A partial

  669. hardening has come upon Israel, until the fullness of the

  670. gentiles has come in. And in this way all Israel

  671. will be saved. As it is written, the Deliverer will

  672. come from Zion. He will banish ungodliness from Jacob. And

  673. this will be my covenant with them when I take

  674. away their sins. As regards the gospel, they are enemies

  675. of God for your sake. But as regards election, they

  676. are beloved for the sake of their forefathers. For the

  677. gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. For just

  678. as you were at one time disobedient to God, but

  679. now have received mercy because of their disobedience. So they

  680. too have now been disobedient, in order that by the

  681. mercy shown to you, they also may now receive mercy.

  682. For God has consigned all to disobedience, that He may

  683. have mercy on all. Oh the depth of the riches

  684. and wisdom and knowledge of God, how unsearchable are his judgments,

  685. and how inscrutable his ways. For who has known the

  686. mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor

  687. or who has given a gift to him, that he

  688. might be repaid for From him and through him and

  689. to him, are all things? To Him be glory forever, Amen,

  690. Romans twelve. I appeal to you, therefore, brothers, by the

  691. mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice,

  692. holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

  693. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed

  694. by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you

  695. may discern what is the will of God, what is

  696. good and acceptable and perfect. For by the grace given

  697. to me, I say to everyone among you not to

  698. think of himself more highly than he ought to think,

  699. but to think with sober judgment, each according to the

  700. measure of that God has assigned. For as in one body,

  701. we have many members, and the members do not all

  702. have the same function. So we, though many, are one

  703. body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having

  704. gifts that differ according to the grace given to us,

  705. let us use them. If prophecy in proportion to our faith,

  706. if service in our serving. The one who teaches in

  707. his teaching, the one who exhorts in his exhortation, the

  708. one who contributes in generosity, the one who leads with zeal,

  709. the one who does acts of mercy with cheerfulness. Let

  710. love be genuine, abhorre what is evil, hold fast to

  711. what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo

  712. one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal,

  713. Be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord, Rejoice in hope,

  714. be patient and tribulation, Be constant in prayer. Contribute to

  715. the needs of the saints, and seek to show hospitality.

  716. Bless those who persecute you. Bless and do not curse them.

  717. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.

  718. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty,

  719. but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your

  720. own sight. Repay no one evil for evil, but give

  721. thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all,

  722. if possible, so far as it depends on you, live

  723. peaceably with all beloved. Never avenge yourselves, but leave it

  724. to the wrath of God. For it is written vengeance

  725. is mine I will repay, says the Lord to the contrary.

  726. If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty,

  727. give him something to drink, for by so doing you

  728. will heap burning coals on his head. Do not be

  729. overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans thirteen.

  730. Let every person be subject to the governing authorities, for

  731. there is no authority except from God, and those that

  732. exist have been instituted by God. Therefore, whoever resists the

  733. authorities resist what God has appointed, and those who resist

  734. will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to

  735. good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear

  736. of the one who is in authority, then do what

  737. is good, and you will receive his approval, for he

  738. is God's servant. For your good. But if you do wrong,

  739. be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain,

  740. for he is the servant of God and Avenger, who

  741. carries out God's wrath on the wrong doer. Therefore, one

  742. must be in subjection, not only to avoid God's wrath,

  743. but also for the sake of conscience. For because of

  744. this you also pay taxes. For the authorities are ministers

  745. of God, attending to this very thing. Pay to all

  746. what is owed to them, taxes to whom taxes are owed,

  747. revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect

  748. is owed, honor to whom honor is owed. Owe no

  749. one anything except to love each other. For the one

  750. who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments

  751. you shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, shall

  752. not steal, you shall not covet, and any other commandment

  753. are summed up in this word. You shall love your

  754. neighbor as yourself. Love does no wrong to a neighbor.

  755. Therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. Besides this,

  756. you know the time that the hour has come for

  757. you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to

  758. us now than when we first believed the night is

  759. far gone, the day is at hand. So then let

  760. us cast off the works of darkness and put on

  761. the armor of light. Let us walk properly as in

  762. the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual

  763. immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy. But put

  764. on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for

  765. the flesh to gratify its desires Romans fourteen. As for

  766. the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but

  767. not to quarrel over opinions. One person believes he may

  768. eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. Let

  769. not the one who eats despise the one who abstains,

  770. And let not the one who abstains pass judgment on

  771. the one who eats, For God has welcomed him. Who

  772. are you to pass judgment on the servant of another.

  773. It is before his own master that he stands or falls,

  774. and he will be upheld, for the Lord is able

  775. to make him stand. One person esteems one day is

  776. better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each

  777. one should be fully convinced in his own mind. The

  778. one who observes the day, observes it in honor of

  779. the Lord. The one who eats eats in honor of

  780. the Lord, since he gives thanks to God. While the

  781. one who abstains abstains in honor of the Lord and

  782. gives thanks to God. For none of us lives to himself,

  783. and none of us dies to himself. For if we live,

  784. we live to the Lord, and if we die, we

  785. die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or

  786. whether we die, we are the Lord's For to this end,

  787. Christ died and lived again that he might be Lord,

  788. both of the dead and of the living. Why do

  789. you pass judgment on your brother or you? Why do

  790. you despise your brother? For we will all stand before

  791. the judgment seat of God. For it is written, as

  792. I live, says the Lord. Every knee shall bow to me,

  793. and every tongue we shall confess to God. So then

  794. each of us will give an account of himself to God. Therefore,

  795. let us not pass judgment on one another any longer,

  796. but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or

  797. hindrance in the way of a brother. I know and

  798. am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean

  799. in itself, but it is unclean for anyone who thinks

  800. it unclean. For if your brother is grieved by what

  801. you eat, you are no longer walking in love. By

  802. what you eat. Do not destroy the one for whom

  803. Christ died. So do not let what you regard as

  804. good be spoken of as evil. For the Kingdom of

  805. God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but

  806. of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

  807. Whoever thus serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved

  808. by men. So then let us pursue what makes for

  809. peace and for mutual upbuilding. Do not, for the sake

  810. of food, destroy the work of God. Everything is indeed clean,

  811. but it is raw for anyone to make another stumble

  812. by what he eats. It is good not to eat meat,

  813. or drink wine, or do anything that causes your brother

  814. to stumble. The faith that you have keep between yourself

  815. and God. Blessed is the one who has no reason

  816. to pass judgment on himself for what he approves. But

  817. whoever has doubts is condemned if he eats, because the

  818. eating is not from faith. For whatever does not proceed

  819. from faith is sin. Romans fifteen. We who are strong,

  820. have an obligation to bear with the failings of the week,

  821. and not to please ourselves. Let each of us please

  822. his neighbor for his good, to build him up. For

  823. Christ did not please himself. But as it is written,

  824. the reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me.

  825. For whatever was written in former days was written for

  826. our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of

  827. the scriptures, we might have hope. May the God of

  828. endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony

  829. with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together

  830. you may with one voice glorify the God and Father

  831. of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Therefore, welcome one another as

  832. Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God. For

  833. I tell you that Christ became a servant to the

  834. circumcised to show God's truthfulness, in order to confirm the

  835. promises given to the patriarchs, and in order that the

  836. gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written,

  837. therefore I will praise you among the gentiles and sing

  838. to your name. And again it is said, rejoice o

  839. gentiles with his people. And again praise the Lord, are

  840. you gentiles, and let all the peoples extol him. And

  841. again Isaiah says, the root of Jesse will come, even

  842. he who arises to rule the gentiles. In him, will

  843. the gentiles hope. May the God of Hope fill you

  844. with all joy and peace and believing, so that by

  845. the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

  846. I myself am satisfied about you, my brothers, that you

  847. yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, and

  848. able to instruct one another. But on some points I

  849. have written to you very boldly by way of reminder,

  850. because of the grace given me by God to be

  851. a minister of Christ Jesus to the gentiles in the

  852. priestly service of the Gospel of God, so that the

  853. offering of the gentiles may be acceptable sanctified by the

  854. Holy Spirit in Christ Jesus. Then I have reason to

  855. be proud of my work for God, for I will

  856. not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has

  857. accomplished through me, to bring the gentiles to obedience by

  858. word and deed, by the power of signs and wonders,

  859. by the power of the Spirit of God, so that

  860. from Jerusalem, and all the way around to mere Lyricum.

  861. I have fulfilled the ministry of the Gospel of Christ,

  862. and thus I make it my ambition to preach the Gospel,

  863. not where Christ has already been named, lest I build

  864. on someone else's foundation. But as it is written, those

  865. who have never been told of him will see, and

  866. those who have never heard will understand. This is the

  867. reason why I have so often been hit from coming

  868. to you. But now, since I no longer have any

  869. room for work in these regions, and since I have

  870. longed for many years to come to you, I hope

  871. to see you in passing as I go to Spain,

  872. and to be helped on my journey there by you.

  873. Once I have enjoyed your company for a while. At present, however,

  874. I am going to Jerusalem bringing aid to the saints.

  875. For Macedonia and Achaia have been pleased to make some

  876. contribution for the poor among the saints at Jerusalem, for

  877. they were pleased to do it, and indeed they owe

  878. it to them. For if the gentiles have come to

  879. share in their spiritual blessings, they ought also to be

  880. of service to them in material blessings. When therefore I

  881. have completed this and have delivered to them what has

  882. been collected. I will leave for Spain by way of you.

  883. I know that when I come to you, I will

  884. come in the fullness of the blessing of Christ. I

  885. appeal to you brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ, and

  886. by the love of the Spirit, tot together with me

  887. and your prayers to God on my behalf, that I

  888. may be delivered from the unbelievers in Judea, and that

  889. my service for Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints,

  890. so that by God's will I may come to you

  891. with joy and be refreshed in your company. May the

  892. God of Peace be with you all amen. Romans sixteen.

  893. I commend to you are sister Phoebe, a servant of

  894. the church at San Crie, that you may welcome her

  895. in the Lord in a way worthy of the saints,

  897. For she has been a patron of many, and of

  898. myself as well. Greek Prisca and Aquila, my fellow workers

  899. in Christ Jesus, who risk their next for my life,

  903. was the first convert to Christ in Asia. Greet Mary,

  904. who has worked hard for you. Greet Andronicus and Junia,

  919. Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the churches

  920. of Christ greet you. I appeal to you, brothers, to

  921. watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles,

  922. contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught. Avoid them,

  923. for such persons do not serve our Lord Christ but

  924. their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery, they

  925. deceive the hearts of the naive. For your obedience is

  926. known to all, so that I rejoice over you. But

  927. I want you to be wise as to what is good,

  928. and innocent as to what is evil. The God of

  929. Peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace

  930. of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Timothy, my

  939. According to the revelation of the mystery that was kept

  940. secret for long ages, but has now been disclosed, and

  941. through the prophetic writings, has been made known to all

  942. nations according to the command of the Eternal God, to

  943. bring about the obedience of faith to the only wise God,

  944. Be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ. Amen h.
