-
small Church Plant in Fort Worth Texas, who decided to do things
-
a little differently. I would almost I had to Crystal,
-
I love City Post because of the people.
-
It's where I belong, we truly preach the word.
-
I love City Post because of the community.
-
We've been able to build to do ministry.
-
Like Jesus perlite to push back Darkness.
-
This is City, Post podcast. You're being first John chapter
1 John 2 chapter mention
-
2. We're going to look at just four
-
quick versus this morning. So I'm going to go ahead and
-
read those and then we'll we'll dive in to the text.
-
So, starting in verse 24. This is a continuation from last
-
week. This is what the word of the
-
Lord has to say. It says, as for you see that
-
what you have heard from the beginning remains in you?
-
If it does you will also remain in the son and in the father,
-
and this is what he promised us eternal life, I am writing these
-
things to you about those who are trying to lead you astray as
-
for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you
-
and you do not need. Anyone to teach you.
-
But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that
-
anointing is real, not counterfeit.
-
Just as it has taught you remain in Him.
-
Father we thank you so much for this time of worship that we
-
had. Thank you for this worship team.
-
Father, truly a blessing to this church and Lord we thank you for
-
your word and God, I pray that you help me to stay focused.
-
Father, collect my thoughts and any of these ideas.
-
Has are not from me, but from you.
-
So Lord, we praise you for today, you know, probably seems,
-
amen. So it being spring break, we
-
decided to take Elena and livie to this magical place called
-
epic Waters. Anybody who I'm talking about.
-
Epic water, is not in Fort Worth, but it is an indoor water
-
park in Grand Prairie and pretty much they opened at 8:30.
-
And you can spend all day there if you want to, and it is just
-
Madness. So, Me living in Atlanta and
-
rage. We decided to get there early
-
set up shop because if not, you won't get a table and then we
-
release the hounds. So we put the floaties on and as
-
they were going to the kitty area.
-
I think like a kid, like took a dump in the pool so it was like
-
whoa and then they're like stop everybody stop and then you see
-
somebody come with a net so you know it went down so it's like
-
Man. So as we're waiting for this
-
pool area to open up, living in a layer is so excited just like
-
running everywhere. They want to go swim and the
-
whole time, I'm there, I am Rach.
-
Kind of took Elena because the latest more laid-back, she's
-
wants to go on the slides. So I had living with me and Livy
-
was so pumped and she just kept going everywhere.
-
She just wanted to see what this place was and the whole time.
-
I'm chasing ladylike living way for Better Living.
-
A close to that. Uh, let me wait for dinner, stay
-
close the data, even like in the water.
-
You know, we're likes playing and swimming and then she'll
-
like go and Wade somewhere else only livie stay close to that.
-
I please like please stay close and the thing is, you know,
-
she's not a professional swimmer, so I don't know.
-
Even though she has floaties, you don't know, but then there's
-
so many people. You don't know about that, are
-
there? I mean it was packed like the
-
water got like smoggy, you know towards the end of the day or
-
last time to go, you know, look like old-school Forest.
-
Park Pool. So we're in high school, like,
-
it's like oily at the top, like, wait a second, what's going on.
-
But, but the whole time I'm there, and I'm like, Levi, stay
-
close to Dad at least a close. It Dad livie stay close to the
-
data. And and, you know, when John
-
talks about the anointing, well, we're going to see today is that
-
he's like, Ricky stay close to data.
-
Ricky, stay. Close to data abide in me.
-
Stay close to Dad, I don't run off.
-
Don't know what's out there. I'm trying to pull you in and
-
John is going to reiterate this over and over again is like if
-
you have the anointing then you understand what the word of God
-
is telling you. So therefore remain in me, abide
-
in me and last week we talked about what the anointing is.
-
I know that word was hijacked by Western Christianity.
-
I'm sorry where people say, well I got the anointing so I'm going
-
to tell you something that you don't know for yourself and it's
-
like know, if your Believer in Christ.
-
You have the Holy Spirit, you're able to know what his word says.
-
And if you don't know what his word says, that means that you
-
do not have the Holy Spirit. Therefore you're not a follower
-
of Christ is black and white y'all.
-
So we talked about that how the Holy Spirit kind of acts as a
-
guardian. So when truth tries to come in
-
your life it serves like that's not going to come in.
-
That's not truth like a little bouncer but also shout out Zach
-
you know something that it also protects us.
-
Is, is that people that claim to know Christ and they claim it
-
with their mouths? But their lives don't show it.
-
So in some ways like yeah, like I'm a Believer but yet they live
-
totally off the charts and you're like, wait a second, the
-
Holy Spirit helps you to guide that.
-
But also, it serves as what we like to call a BS alarm, you
-
know, the biblically sound alarm, right?
-
So as things are not biblically sound, your BS alarm goes off.
-
Like, wait a second, that's not God's word and it just gets
-
louder and louder. Louder, as people throw the BS
-
at you, and that's not biblically sound.
-
All right. So, So let's go ahead and, and
-
jump into the text. And this is kind of where we're
-
taking we're continuing here in verse 24.
-
This is what John is telling us. He's like as for you see that
-
what you have heard from the beginning remains in you?
-
If it does, you also remain in the son and in the father.
-
So, look at verse 24. Look at the first couple of
-
words. What does it say?
-
It says, as for you, Important. That's a direct correlation to a
-
Believer. So, it's pretty much saying you
-
like that's hard for you to remember.
-
Just think a soldier boy you, I mean, you know what I mean?
-
Like just you like, he's pointing at you, he's talking to
-
the children, he's talking to the Believers in Christ.
-
He's like as for you. So, this is way different than
-
what we just read the last couple weeks where he's
-
addressing the false teachers. And The false prophets.
-
He's like I was talking to them but I'm talking to you right
-
here to you claim to follow Christ.
-
See that what you have heard from the beginning remains in
-
you? What have you heard from the
-
beginning? He's talking about the gospel
-
message. He's talking about the message
-
of Salvation like like it is like God is a holy and
-
righteous. God, we have sinned, we deserve
-
his wrath, we deserve separation.
-
But Jesus, Even in our failure to I did the come and say I will
-
take God's Wrath for you. So that way you don't have to
-
work for it anymore. You just got to believe
-
surrender your life to me. And you will be forgiven, that's
-
the good news of the Gospel. That's incredible.
-
And that's the message that is from the beginning.
-
And what John is saying, is like that, message that you heard
-
that word remains actually means abides if you look at other
-
commentaries or other translations, but then abide
-
actually means remains, so it's kind of the same way.
-
Word here. But if that remains in, you AKA
-
like, it doesn't go in one ear and out the other like it stays
-
in your life, like there is an A Heart Change like God has given
-
you. The anointing is giving you the
-
Holy Spirit. You have accepted his word.
-
So that means that you are changed.
-
So if that remains in you, If it does, you also will remain in
-
the son and in the father Christian truth.
-
He's saying that Christian truth.
-
It's fixed. It doesn't shift.
-
It's not cultural. Like there's no conditions to
-
the gospel. Like yeah, Ricky.
-
But like I had a bad month, so I might not know if it remains in
-
you. It's going to stick but look
-
what it says if it does you also will remain.
-
In the Sun. So we got to look at how John
-
writes here because this is really interesting here.
-
John the right translation and says if it does it is not you
-
also well it's you must you must remain in the sun, you must
-
remain in the Sun and I love this because the word must what
-
we call in scripture. When you studied, this is an
-
active voice. Voice what John is writing here
-
is like this is an active statement AKA You must actively
-
remain in the Sun. How do I do that through his
-
word? So it doesn't mean like I'm I
-
come to know the gospel. I give my life to Christ and
-
then I don't have to do anything else.
-
Now, I'm not saying you work for your salvation, you don't lose
-
your salvation. But what John is saying is like,
-
you must remain in the sun. If you're going to remain in the
-
Sun, that means that you need his word.
-
And if you have his word, that means that you must put some
-
effort and work into having a relationship with Christ.
-
It makes sense, nobody gets into a relationship and be like we're
-
married. All right cool, see you later,
-
whenever you don't talk, you don't hang out, you know like
-
that makes no sense. So I made a commitment to rage
-
and then I don't talk to her, I don't hang out with her.
-
I don't we just do it. Own thing.
-
You don't give me trouble, man. I'm like so like yeah you can't
-
do that, it's not relationship. That's like high school dating,
-
right? So so John he's pushing forward,
-
an active voice. So Row, three quick things about
-
God's word that I just want to throw out there about remaining
-
in the son and in the father based on the anointing and
-
having God's word in your life, it's not going to be on the
-
screen by I wanted to mention these three quick things about
-
God's word. Number one, you meditate on it,
-
you know, a lot of us we kind of come on Sunday, we hear the
-
sermon. We go back and we don't read our
-
open our Bibles ever again until next Sunday.
-
And that's not how this works. So when you read something, you
-
hear something you you learn something you want to meditate
-
on it, you know, I picture like a cow eating grass just just
-
chewing on it. Then you regurgitates it, chews
-
on it, some more swallows, it regurgitates.
-
It keeps getting the nutrients out of that grass.
-
We should do the same thing with God's word.
-
So whenever you hear something, whenever you read something you
-
meditate on it, you know, if you work in an office man, just type
-
in Bible, Gateway and read some. You know, whenever you have time
-
look, On your phones. I mean there's so many options
-
for us. We're so spoiled, but yet, we
-
don't take advantage. You want to meditate on God's
-
word. Number two, you want to memorize
-
God's word worked to memorize it, try to learn it.
-
I mean, we learned song lyrics, we learn everything else.
-
We couldn't memorize God's word, just keep hearing it.
-
Put it on a cute card. Just start small, Jesus.
-
Web, there. You got a verse.
-
Congratulations, you know, John 10:35.
-
I mean, start small, just work to memorize God's word, meditate
-
on it, memorize it and in number three, mention it mention it you
-
know the more that you talk about something the more it
-
sticks with you. So when you go home you take
-
what you learn and you just start talking about it, you
-
mention it, you pass it on, you pass it forward and it always
-
comes back to you. And on Sundays we have like our
-
family devotional time. And we always ask Olivia and
-
Elena, what they learned and killed.
-
Children's church and of course you know laying on might tell us
-
live. You would be like I like shoes,
-
I don't know like but we talked about it and there's a reason
-
for it because we want it to stick.
-
So those are just three quick easy things that we can do as
-
Believers to help remain in the sun through his word meditate
-
memorize and mention it. So let's keep moving.
-
So we look at verse 25 and from verse 24, John gives us a
-
promise like the reason why you want to buy, the reason why we
-
remain in the son and in the Father, which sorry I have to go
-
back. One second here, in verse 24, in
-
the son and in the father, you can't have one without the
-
other. You can't get Jesus wrong in
-
God, right? If you get Jesus wrong, then you
-
can't get God. They're linked together.
-
We learned that in John, chapter 1, So, you got to get the sun
John 1 chapter mention
-
correct? Then look at verse 25, and this
-
is what he promised us eternal life.
-
So we know that those who are found in Christ.
-
We get, thank you. We get eternal life.
-
We get life with him. But what John is pointing out to
-
his, like, you just don't get life.
-
When you pass away and go to heaven, you get heaven in this
-
life because God comes down in his spirit and he lives in us.
-
It's heaven and on Earth. So your life is lived with
-
Jesus. Day in and day out.
-
It's an amazing thing, but we do get eternal life as Believers.
-
But growth happens in his word and we talked about this a
-
couple weeks ago. So you grow spiritually, the
-
sanctification happens through the word of the Lord and your
-
relationship with God is only going to be as strong as your
-
relationship with his word. So if you want to grow in your
-
faith, if you want to grow in Christ, man, you got to be in
-
this thing. You got to dig in his word.
-
You got to read the Bible. This is how he speaks to us.
-
Now. A lot of people are like well
-
Rica. If I go somewhere if I yell loud
-
enough, if I just cry on the Lord, if that's emotionalism,
-
I'm talking about real spiritual growth that goes with you
-
through the years that indoors. And the music is great.
-
But what happens when they don't play your jam that Sunday,
-
You're not going to be able to feel it that makes no sense if
-
the power where the shutdown in this place and Eric just sings
-
acapella was that still means something.
-
But if we have God's word, this is what sustains us.
-
This is the meat, this is how you grow spiritually.
-
As a Believer, this is where sanctification happens and you
-
only go as further as your time in the word.
-
So, verse 25, John gives us a promise of eternal life, but
-
he's also throwing this out because even though eternity
-
set, you still need to grow in the faith.
-
And that is something that you need to do.
-
Actively look at verse 26 and I'm just kind of running through
-
this, but I just want to make sure we get through it all in
-
time. Verse 26 says, I am writing
-
these things to you about those who are trying to lead you
-
astray? Why is John mentioning all this?
-
It kind of sounds repetitive so that word Lead, You astray
-
actually means deceiving Means that there is somebody who's
-
trying to deceive you, he's trying to pull you away.
-
He's trying to trick you. And remember, John is writing to
-
the church because there are these gnostics who are spreading
-
this false gospel and because they're spreading this false
-
gospel. John is saying, hey, these guys
-
out here are trying to pull you away from the real truth of God,
-
they're throwing these ideas out there, they're doing everything
-
they can to yank you. Away to lead you astray, but
-
it's not only false teachers that lead us astray.
-
I mean, we know that there's an enemy.
-
So anything that pulls us away from God's calling on our life,
-
which is to know him, and make him known.
-
I know a lot of us kind of see like, mess.
-
He's trying to destroy. He don't need to destroy you.
-
All you have to do is plan a barbecue on a Sunday morning for
-
some of us. That will pull us away.
-
It's something as simple as making.
-
You stay up just a little bit later on a Saturday night with
-
friends. So that way you don't wake up.
-
It's to lead you astray and we've got to guard against that
-
you know. And I say one of my greatest
-
joys of Sadie post. I love seeing when Joseph walks
-
in with a monster in his hand. I tell them this all the times,
-
like when I see guys with red bulls in there and I'm like,
-
praise God. That means they could have
-
stayed sleeping. But regardless of how many hours
-
of sleep, somebody got, they decided to be here and that's a
-
choice that they made because I ain't going to call him.
-
I'm not your parent but they're here.
-
And I'm like yes man, that's awesome.
-
Praise God. Like man that is a discipline.
-
That is incredible. So what you do is that you are
-
fighting the deceiver with Red Bull, I mean there's so many
-
things that are trying to keep you in bed and Lead You astray
-
and you're like, no man. I'm and it's Not about church,
-
like don't hear me wrong. But there's some of us like, man
-
we need. This is the only time we get
-
God's word, but it's about the small things in life.
-
It's about the things that lead us away from, from our Brothers
-
and Sisters in Christ and things that lead us away from our faith
-
ideologies and philosophies that kind of like pull us away from
-
what God is calling us to. And we decide, you know what,
-
we're going to follow this. Instead of God's word, you just
-
got LED astray. And what to say in use, we
-
talked about this, a couple weeks ago, the lust of the eyes,
-
the lust of the Flesh and the pride of man.
-
It's too easy. So what he's saying he's like
-
listen you gotta remain in me, you got to remain in Christ and
-
if the gospel remains in you then you will remain in the son
-
and in the father he's given us eternal life but you still got
-
to grow, remember? There's like that active voice,
-
so that means you got to put in some work in this.
-
And the reason I'm telling you this, because there's going to
-
be so much out there, that's going to try to pull you away
-
from this, it's happening. It happens to me all the time
-
where I have to stop and have to pray.
-
There's been situations where I was like in a place, I just
-
left. I like, I don't know if I'm
-
going to do this because I'm worried about my own self about
-
being led astray. And then look at verse 27.
-
So we know that there's an enemy, he's trying to pull us
-
astray. We got to fight it.
-
We lead you off then verse 27 as for you.
-
There's that term. Again, remember that you write
-
as for you The anointing, you receive from him, remains in you
-
and you do not need anyone to teach you.
-
All right, so there's a lot going on here.
-
The anointing that you received that word received as in a past
-
tense. So what he's talking about is
-
what we see in First Peter were where when God presented the
-
gospel to you, Open the Eyes of your heart to his, the beauty of
-
the Gospel you received it, he gave you his spirit and that's
-
how you live out the Christian life.
-
Now you're able to understand things and he's like I'm praying
-
that it remains in you. And you do not need anyone to
-
teach you. Now, what is John saying here?
-
I don't need like pastors and I don't need gifted people to
-
teach me God's word. That's not what he's saying,
-
what he's saying, he's remember the context here, he's talking
-
about the gnostics, they were the guys going around saying I'm
-
enlightened. You should listen to us.
-
I even see that we're like there's other pastors.
-
Like, you know what? I have to tell you this because
-
you're not going to understand what this says, you're not
-
trained like me. You have to do what I say and
-
what he says, like if you're a follower of Christ, you have the
-
anointing of Christ. You could read this for
-
yourself. So you don't need these guys out
-
here, claiming stuff to teach you, you could teach it
-
yourself, you could read the Bible for yourself.
-
But as his anointing teaches you about all things and that
-
anointing is real. Not counterfeit.
-
Just says it has taught you remain in him, you see?
-
So he's talking about the he brings up the anointing twice
-
here. One is in past tense where it
-
says you receive and now he's like the anointing teaches you
-
which is present tense, he's talking to so you got it in the
-
past it's going to be with you in the present is going to teach
-
you now and it's Going to continue to teach you, the
-
anointing is also in the future as well.
-
To listen to Holy Spirit, doesn't leave you.
-
This is not like a Genie in a lamp.
-
This stays with you, it stays with you, it walks with you, it
-
helps you. But you got to be active in it,
-
you got to be into his word. And then I love how John throws
-
this a little jab in there. He's like no, this thing is
-
real, it's not counterfeit. Y'all ever seen like some
-
counterfeit Nikes? I have some of y'all like I got
-
a it look like You know, the counterfeit stuff it looks like
-
it, but when you check the label, it says, like Fruit of
-
the Loom, but it is like Gucci and it's like a little bit
-
crooked, right? I mean like, I mean, we go,
-
that's what we'd look for on mission trips, right?
-
It's like, got to get the good stuff.
-
See it counterfeit means. It looks like it, but the maker
-
is not the authentic creator of it.
-
And what John is saying is like, listen guys are going around
-
claiming that their anointed by the Holy Spirit saying things.
-
But because of what they are saying and and showing their
-
counterfeit, that means that whatever spirit is in them is
-
not from the maker. So if it's not from God, it's
-
got to be from somebody else. And I'll let you take a guess.
-
So that spirit is not from Christ.
-
And we talked about this, in the last passage, is that Spirit of
-
the Antichrist, the one who opposes Christ.
-
So the counterfeit Spirits, the ones that don't claim God's
-
word. Those are not from the Lord,
-
that's from Satan himself. That's the Antichrist, the the
-
poser. And then I love how this passage
-
ends, just as it has taught you remain in him.
-
I love that. Remain in him.
-
You see John ends this with a new imperative.
-
He starts it with an imperative saying, hey, this is you must
-
get the, you know, you must know.
-
God, you must know his word and he's ending it with a new
-
imperative, which is like a new command and that you command is
-
Pain in him, remain in Christ abide in Christ, Walk With
-
Jesus, talked with Jesus follow Jesus.
-
Don't let the riches and the deceitfulness of this Whirlpool
-
you away. You must remain in Christ.
-
I love that word abide in the Old Testament means that's where
-
you, like, pitch your tent and you're going to make that place
-
your dwelling. So when it says that Christ
-
abide in me, it's like God, make your dwelling in my life and
-
John used that same word is used in this passage.
-
He's like remain in him abide in him.
-
That means you plant your life with Jesus.
-
You pitch your tent. There you make your dwelling in
-
Christ. Everything about your life is in
-
Jesus, and that's what he's talking about.
-
Now with the last just couple 10 minutes that we have, I started
-
thinking about this statement, how John ends it, how do you
-
abide in Christ? How do you abide in Christ?
-
And what I would like to do is just kind of give just a couple
-
of suggestions based on the text or some truths from the text and
-
I started thinking about our culture, like our culture, Our
-
Generation, how we live our lives.
-
How do we Abide in Christ based on the passage that was giving
-
to us. And I know some of you are like,
-
Well, Ricky get this, you just read it, like, read your Bible.
-
Pray as too easy. Let's peel the onion back a
-
little bit like let's let's let's be able to implement this
-
in our lives. And before I dive into it, there
-
used to be a book that came out called Eat This.
-
Not That you guys remember, that was in Barnes and Nobles.
-
These huge books so it'd be like, you know, I want to eat a
-
Burger, King Whopper but instead eat like in and out because it's
-
healthier, you know, or you know, don't eat Pizza Hut but
-
eat, you know, Little Caesars because it's less calories, I
-
don't know, just make stuff up. Even in the Christian World,
-
they would have these CCM magazines that would do that.
-
Like if you like listening to Corn, listen to Jeff Moore in
-
the distance, you know? Like it would be these like
-
compare and contrast things. And that's kind of what I want
-
to do today. Day is instead of options.
-
We need obedience. So how do we invite in Christ
-
instead of our instead of living in options?
-
We need obedience. What are you talking about?
-
Re-listen, we live in a culture, where options are key.
-
We Love Options. Like the more schools that want
-
me the the more food options that I have, the more friend
-
options that I have some y'all like relationships, like the
-
more like options. I got instead of me committing
-
to one, I need options and we're living in this life where we
-
love our options. Why?
-
Because we tie options to Opportunities and then we tie
-
opportunities to success And that carries on to our spiritual
-
lives as well. So if I go through life,
-
thinking I need options. Like it could be true.
-
Like it's good to have options for education is good to have
-
options for like eating out. It's good to have options.
-
Like if you have like three or four jobs that want you to come
-
work for them, that's not a bad thing.
-
But what we see in verse 24 is that the only option is to
-
remain in Christ. There is no other option except
-
Jesus here. And a lot of us like we do that
-
though. We're like, man in a church that
-
gives me like all these things to do and it's like no like just
-
find one that preaches. The gospel and going serve be
-
faithful like our option is Jesus period. so in a world
-
where we equate options to Opportunities actually when
-
you're obedient the opportunities come to you, Like
-
what we say that don't chase clout you, chase Kingdom because
-
if you chase Kingdom clouds going to chase you.
-
So whenever I surrendered my life to the Lord is a god, like,
-
I, I want the gospel to remain in Me based on verse 24, and if
-
I remain in the sun, I am actively creating my options to
-
only be one option, which is Christ.
-
So that means all my priorities are off the table.
-
If Jesus is not a part of it, Even my work options.
-
Like I remember like looking for jobs after my previous job at
-
Blue zones. I'm like man, who's gonna want
-
to hire a faith-based manager like iron were talking to Rachel
-
about this? Like how am I gonna get my
-
resume out there? Like, what am I going to do
-
after this? But as long as I was able to
-
serve the Lord, as long as I was able to help plan a church, I'll
-
go work anywhere. and God provided You see?
-
So whenever we are obedient to him.
-
God is not just like man-made opportunities.
-
It's like, God made opportunities, which make no
-
sense. And all of a sudden you're gonna
-
see start seeing Kingdom happen. And all I'm doing is being
-
obedient to what God's called me too.
-
And you're gonna watch the Lord work.
-
And you know what? Success in God's kingdom faith?
-
That's all they know about numbers.
-
It's like, hey, you decided to take a step of Faith, you're
-
successful, but God, only like eight people showed up.
-
Congratulations, you do what I ask you to do your successful,
-
doesn't matter what it looks like success comes when you take
-
a step of faith, when you walk in faith, God deems, that
-
successful, and because it's successful opportunities are
-
going to follow your way because God's in it.
-
Because he could only do the supernatural.
-
So number one, obedience over options, we got it, we got to
-
fix our perspective on that when it comes to the things of God.
-
Number two, Jomo over fomo. Like what?
-
Something I'll texting - Jomo mean, right?
-
So we use that term a lot fomo fear of missing out.
-
We have fomo We all we want to be a part of everything.
-
We our culture has a fear of missing out on everything.
-
We want to be a part of that party.
-
Want to be part of the, we want to be a part of everything, but
-
the problem is that sometimes our fomo comes at the expense of
-
our obedience because we're so worried about missing out on the
-
culture. And we need to shift our
-
perspective because if I'm obedient to God, I don't get
-
fomo, I get Jomo, which is joy of missing out, man.
-
It like it's exciting because I said know, When couple of months
-
ago, I would have said yes. And then that would have been a
-
disaster and I would have like jacked up relationships and he
-
see, I was like, the fear of missing out.
-
I was like, oh, but I got to be there, but in your spirit, you
-
know, it's not a good idea. So instead of saying I'm scared
-
of missing out, I say no. And I'm like, thank you.
-
Jesus, that I have the power to say, no, because I am no longer
-
a slave to my sin. I'm able to walk free.
-
And then people are going to be like, well we got to come, you
-
got to come to this and then you're like, man.
-
It's all good man. You guys have a great time, but
-
I have so much joy in my life because of the obedience that I
-
have that. I don't have a fear of missing
-
out with the world stuff. I have a fear of missing out
-
with the spiritual. It's like, man.
-
Like man, I want to see what God is going to be a part of.
-
I want to see what he's going to do.
-
So listen, I'm going to what I'm going to say, like, don't get
-
offended. But this goes to my kids, too.
-
I'm going to train my kids to have Jomo and not fomo.
-
So, leave your later like, how dad I gotta go?
-
Because they're gonna do it. And I got else.
-
Like listen, we're busy that weekend.
-
It's okay. We're gonna have a better time
-
over here. I promise.
-
Because you want to build that joy in their lives.
-
So don't worry about phone, while you get Jomo in your life
-
you're going to see God move. Where does that come from in
-
verse 26? He's telling you.
-
He's like the reason I'm writing these things is because there's
-
some stuff out there that's going to try to lead you astray.
-
And if your fomo kicks in, you're going to get LED astray.
-
But if your jumbo kicks in, you're not going to get LED
-
astray because you're going to be, you're gonna have so much
-
joy abiding in Christ, right? Where you are at That there's no
-
worldly happiness, that could take your joy.
-
And then the last thing, and we'll end with this, Is we have
-
to? So go ahead.
-
Number 3. We have to start thinking
-
presents over productivity presence over productivity.
-
Memory key. Where does that come from?
-
Verse 27? What does verse 27 say?
-
Remain in him. What John is pushing here.
-
When you abide in Christ, you are in his presence.
-
It's more important to be in his presence than anything else.
-
You got going on in life. That is the number one priority
-
for you is wherever I go God better.
-
Be there in like like most says, in Exodus, if God's not there, I
-
don't want to go. Because his presence is key and
-
his presence comes through his word and his word is activated
-
because we have the anointing the Holy Spirit when you connect
-
anointing and God's word, you better watch out.
-
His presence is key. But we are a culture that loves
-
productivity because we think if we're productive, then we're
-
able to show our value. The more I do, the more society
-
looks at me, and says, hey this guy, we need to get him on
-
board, that ain't it though. Because when we focus on God's
-
presence and Kingdom opportunities coming in his
-
presence, what it's going to do is going to activate your
-
passion, it's going to activate our passions in life.
-
So when I go to work and I focus on his presence in my office,
-
I'm walking around a lot different than everybody else.
-
I have this passion in my life to do this job that God has
-
placed me in and it's gonna blow everybody away.
-
And it's not because I have an incredible skill set is because
-
God is blessing. My hands.
-
He's blessing me because I have his presence in my life and
-
there's nothing greater than the presence of God, but when you
-
focus on productivity, you're going to focus on your
-
accomplishments and your accomplishments are only going
-
to take you so far in life. Because there's only things that
-
God can do in the Supernatural that you can't do in the
-
natural. So when you focus on his
-
presence, it unlocks the Supernatural, and you become
-
greater because your passion in life and even your
-
accomplishments. So whenever like, you do this,
-
some Great accomplishments, either at work or school or
-
wherever you're at, it's going to be have a greater impact
-
because God's presence is tied to it and not just your own
-
abilities. Nice thinking about this like
-
man, you know, I want my kids. To know that I was faithful.
-
So if I were to pass away, if I were to like die tomorrow, I
-
want my kids to know me. Like, man, my dad.
-
He had Jomo. There was a Joy about him.
-
Man, he was like a faithful man of God.
-
That's what I want my kids to. They're not going to like man.
-
Dad got us a bunch of cool stuff.
-
That's for the uncles in that Willows.
-
No. Say let them do it but as a
-
father, I want my kids to know me as a faithful man of God.
-
Somebody that that had Joy. Somebody that prioritize, the
-
Lord Smite that led prayer. Dinner time somebody that
-
protected us and provided for us and he was a pretty like, like
-
he played with Us. That's what I want my kids to
-
know me by So I want to just kind of ask you, where's your
-
focus? Where's your focus and your
-
focus? Only shifts when you decide to
-
abide in Christ, plant your tent in his presence, say no to the
-
things that pull you away from it.
-
And focus on obedience. And when you start doing that,
-
you're going to start seeing some crazy stuff in your life.
-
You start seeing some shifting in our lives and in your life as
-
well. That's my prayer for you today.
-
So let's pray together. Father, we love you and we are
-
so grateful for what you are doing here.
-
Lord. So Lord I pray father for every
-
single person in this room. Lord, I pray that you help us to
-
to lean on your presence. Father, help us to see the world
-
through Kingdom lens. Not just through this worldly
-
lens. Father God help us to be
-
obedient to you Lord. Help us to say no to the things
-
that are going to pull us away and lead us astray and help us
-
to focus on your presence, father, because we know that
-
your presence is going to push our passions And our
-
productivity is going to look a lot different because you're
-
involved. So Jesus, we pray all these
-
things in your name. Amen, this worship together.
