  1. We celebrated our Rachel has a family reunion that we do and

  2. it's in East Texas and this is the 14th year of us doing this

  3. family reunion and we like to call it Country weekend.

  4. So Country weekend pretty much is her massive family shows up

  5. at a lake house with some of our super close personal friends.

  6. And we just spend a few days together playing at the lake Jet

  7. skis just, you know, I see, I understand what you're talking

  8. about the sun like I look like 50 Shades of brown up here.

  9. So the I don't know why I said that I'm a little sleepy this

  10. morning so so like it's it's a great time now in year three or

  11. four of our country weekend we started a tradition where Friday

  12. night was the fajita dinner. Like that was like, that's what

  13. they want. You know, that's what everybody

  14. wants to do. If I eat a dinner Friday night,

  15. chicken, steak, whatever they have.

  16. And what I realized real quickly is that cultures are different.

  17. For you guys that don't know my wife, she is country white girl,

  18. He's Texas, you know, Southern belle.

  19. And so we grew up a little bit differently.

  20. And I I quickly realized that the way that people view fajitas

  21. and Mexican food in some cultures are a lot different

  22. than in our culture. I say ours because the it's the

  23. Mexicans adopted me back in the Texas.

  24. They're like, we want Ricky, you're like, we'll take you, you

  25. know, you know we'll take him. You could have, you know one got

  26. real on our side but like we want him, right.

  27. So, So I remember like the first time we did it, I was like that

  28. ain't it. This is not going to work for

  29. me. So I volunteered to bring the

  30. meat and all that stuff the next couple of years.

  31. So now it's like me and Mario we grill it all out.

  32. So the next year I went to meet meet Pueblo the kind of city

  33. right and right yeah shout out and and I mean that's like the

  34. best one so so I wanted to show out so I brought like the pounds

  35. of the fajita meat and the the chicken, the marinated chicken

  36. and. Grilled it.

  37. They loved it. But the problem was like, they

  38. brought the sides. Yeah, you know where it's going,

  39. right? Not all tortillas are the same,

  40. right? You know, so I had the meat and

  41. everything, and they busted out with the mission packets of

  42. tortillas, the flour tortillas. And I was like, no, like, no,

  43. this is so fake. Like this is the audacity that I

  44. have Pueblo kind of city on me. And you decided to bring

  45. mission. No, that's that's terrible.

  46. And then they just warm him up in the microwave, like, come on,

  47. bro, No, no, no. So then the next couple of

  48. years, I was like, I'll handle it.

  49. You guys just show up and eat because, you know, like the real

  50. flour tortillas, You have to cook them.

  51. You know, you put them on the hot grill and like, you flip

  52. them with your fingers, you lose all the hair on your knuckles.

  53. That's how you know it's hot enough.

  54. And and then, like, when it bubbles, you flip it over real

  55. fast. You see, I know what's up,

  56. right? So, like, and then you're cooked

  57. like, that's how you could tell the real flour tortillas from

  58. the fake ones. Now here's the crazy thing.

  59. Some people are cool with the Mission tortillas.

  60. They're they're cool with the fake stuff because that's all

  61. they know. They don't know the good stuff

  62. yet, right? They haven't been introduced to

  63. the good stuff. I could easily tell a fake flour

  64. tortilla from a real one, right? I mean, I'm pretty sure y'all

  65. could too. And if you can't, we're going to

  66. pray for you. Let's meet afterwards, let's

  67. talk and we'll fix that. You know, so so it's it's like

  68. this whole fake versus real when it comes to that.

  69. And some people just don't understand.

  70. They don't know because they haven't been introduced to like

  71. the real flower tortillas. And what John is going to look

  72. at today is that, you know, he, we've been talking about truth

  73. and he's going to say, you know, there's some guys out there that

  74. he's going to call deceivers. And they're like they're going

  75. to come off as real tortillas, but they're actually mission

  76. tortillas. They're fake.

  77. Right. They they look real, like you

  78. could buy them at the store. They served its purpose, but

  79. they don't preach the truth. They're actually preaching a

  80. false gospel. They're they're they're teaching

  81. a false doctrine. And and John's even going to go

  82. a little bit deeper here because we got to pay attention to the

  83. word studies. It's not just deceivers talking

  84. about false things. It's also the way they live

  85. their lives. So it's not just false things,

  86. but it's false motives. And and John's going to be like,

  87. man, you got to watch out with these guys.

  88. You got to watch out with deceivers, like don't let them

  89. pull you away from the truth. And then he's going to go and

  90. talk a little bit about what it looks like when you encounter

  91. somebody that is a deceiver. So that's going to be next week

  92. though. So.

  93. But, but it's really evident here, so even in the Christian

  94. realm, even in Christianity. You know, our world is full of

  95. fake tortillas versus real ones. And we got to realize what makes

  96. them deceivers, what makes them fake.

  97. And really, it's the truth. It's if they get away from the

  98. truth. So, man, my, my prayer today is

  99. that you guys leave here in courage.

  100. That you guys leave here with like just like a little bit more

  101. pep in your step in. The last Sunday was a little bit

  102. heavy. So I was like, man, can we

  103. lighten it up a little bit? So, so let's go ahead and read

  104. we're we're only going to look at like 3 verses today.

  105. And then we'll wrap up the book a second John next week.

  106. So let's start on verse 7. And I'm only going to read to 9.

  107. And this is what the Word of the Lord says says.

  108. I say this because many deceivers who do not acknowledge

  109. Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh have gone out into the

  110. world. Any such person is the deceiver

  111. and the Antichrist. Watch out that you do not lose

  112. what we have worked for. But that you may be rewarded

  113. fully on in verse 9. Anyone who runs ahead and does

  114. not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God.

  115. Whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and

  116. the Son. I'm just going to read verse 10

  117. and 11 just for context. If anyone comes to you and does

  118. not bring this teaching, do not take them into your house or

  119. welcome them. Anyone who welcomes them shares

  120. in their wicked work. So let's pray real quick,

  121. Father, We thank you so much, Father, you're doing.

  122. We thank you because you are faithful to us.

  123. Father, we thank you for the rain this morning.

  124. Just cool things down a little bit.

  125. And Father, I pray that that you just help us to hear your word,

  126. Father, and help us to to see what you have to say to us.

  127. And Lord, we also want to thank you for our children, Father.

  128. It is such a joy to hear kids in this place to hear them running

  129. and playing and and and yelling. Father, it's it's just it's it's

  130. evidence of a growing church and a joyful church.

  131. So Lord, we thank you so much for all of them and then we pray

  132. all these things didn't matter. All right.

  133. So let's go ahead and start on verse 7.

  134. So last week we talked about truth.

  135. John, continue to remind. Hey, know the truth.

  136. Abide in the truth. You you have to make sure that

  137. that everything about your life is about this truth.

  138. And then last week we talked about that.

  139. We know that truth reveals certain things.

  140. Truth reveals our truth. So truth reveals truth.

  141. Truth truth reveals the truth about ourselves.

  142. So whenever we line our lives up with the truth of the gospel,

  143. which is the good news, it helps us realize the bad news.

  144. So it is like the good news of Jesus Christ versus the bad news

  145. that we are sinners, we are terrible people, and that we

  146. need a Savior. But truth also reveals a

  147. solution. Who is Christ?

  148. And then truth also reveals complete joy.

  149. Now John is going to take all of that and he's going to give us a

  150. reason why he tells this fellowship his body believers

  151. when he told them last week. So look at verse seven.

  152. It says, I say this because. Many deceivers.

  153. The reason I'm telling you guys all this stuff, the reason I

  154. keep bombarding you with this whole idea of truth and love and

  155. how we have to abide in it, is because there's going to be a

  156. whole bunch of fake tortillas in this world.

  157. There's going to be a bunch of deceivers who do not acknowledge

  158. Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, and they have gone out to

  159. this world. So I started thinking like,

  160. deceiver, what does that mean? So remember, the Old Testament

  161. was written in Greek. So that word deceiver is planos.

  162. It's kind of where we get the word planet from.

  163. And the word planos means a wanderer.

  164. It means to wander. Any Marvel endgame fans out

  165. here, Right? So think about the name Thanos.

  166. You know it comes from the Greek word here.

  167. Plainos. It's like a wonder it he just

  168. goes everywhere, but also not just a wonder but also he's

  169. going to you wander from the truth of scripture.

  170. So when you hear the word deceiver, that means it's

  171. someone who is going to try to get you to wander away from

  172. scripture. They're going to corrupt it.

  173. They want to lead you astray. They're they're imposters.

  174. And then when you look at the scripture like.

  175. Man, what? How else do they talk about

  176. deceivers? So I'm just going to spit some

  177. verses out here. It's not going to be on the

  178. screen, but you can just kind of just cross reference.

  179. Paul says that these people are like false brothers or false

  180. brethren in the church. That's out of Second Corinthians

  181. 11/26. In the Book of Jude, verse 13,

  182. Jude calls them wandering stars, which are headed for the black

  183. darkness of eternal judgment. Jesus in in the book of Matthew

  184. 24 chapter I'm sorry, the book of Matthew, Chapter 7, verse 15.

    Matthew 7:15

  185. Jesus calls them their wolves and sheep's clothing and he

  186. warns them. He warns us in the Olivet

  187. discourse, which was another sermon that we did in Mark, he

  188. says false Christ and false prophets will arise and they

  189. will show great signs and wonders so as to be misled if

  190. possible even the elect. So a lot of even like a lot of

  191. deceivers, they're going to do some crazy stuff.

  192. They're going to, they're going to heal people.

  193. They're going to do some signs and wonders.

  194. But it's not going to be in the name of Jesus that you and I

  195. serve. It's going to be in something

  196. else's name. It's going to be to pull you

  197. away from the truth to Scripture.

  198. And I'm even seeing that today. Acts 2029.

  199. Paul talks to the church and he says false apostles, deceitful

  200. workers disguising themselves as apostles of Christ, disguise

  201. themselves as servants of righteousness whose end will be

  202. according to their deeds. So what's Paul telling us here?

  203. They're not just going to be able to talk about it, but their

  204. lives are not going to match what they preach.

  205. So they're going to know all about the Bible.

  206. They're going to know all of this information.

  207. They're going to know the Scripture.

  208. But their life's going to look totally different.

  209. That's a deceiver. That's somebody that you cannot

  210. trust when it comes to Scripture.

  211. Their lives don't align with the truth.

  212. So when we talk about deceivers, we got to not just look at false

  213. doctrine, but we also have to look at false motives.

  214. Why are people like, what is it about people that want people to

  215. know Christ? And what we see here is that

  216. instead of uniting, they divide. You know, Jesus talks about the

  217. church being a United Church. That's how the world's going to

  218. know that that that we love each other.

  219. But if somebody's in there trying to divide the church in

  220. the name of God, that means that they are deceptive.

  221. They're deceiving. They're not loving, but they're

  222. selfish and they're prideful. They want you to join their

  223. misery. And then my last thing I got a

  224. question is like, are they trying to make followers of

  225. Christ? Are they trying to make

  226. followers of themselves? Everybody loves the crowd.

  227. And when you see some of these guys that they just want people

  228. to listen to them. They're like, man, are you

  229. really trying to make disciples? Are you just want people to

  230. follow you? You see, there's like that inner

  231. pride that we got to watch out for.

  232. So I say this in verse 7 because many deceivers who do not

  233. acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, remember

  234. John is writing to the Gnostics here.

  235. A lot of people deny. Jesus Christ as being 100% man

  236. in 100% God. So they accept his deity but

  237. they deny his humanity which does not work because if we

  238. think about Jesus. Christ being Lord, even His

  239. name, it's Jesus, Yeshua it's Lord our salvation.

  240. And He's the Messiah, the coming 1, the Savior.

  241. He has to be 100% human and he has to be 100% God to be the

  242. atoning sacrifice for all of the sins of the world.

  243. So if you deny Jesus Christ being Lord and Savior and truly

  244. God, you are denying the existence of God.

  245. And and to be honest with you, when you deny who Jesus really

  246. is, then that is the beginning of a false religion, a heresy or

  247. a cult. Because the truth is Jesus is

  248. not the Archangel like Jehovah witnesses claim Jesus is not a

  249. prophet like Islam claims. Jesus is not a good example like

  250. Hinduism claims. And we could go on and on about

  251. what Jesus. Who Jesus is to various cults

  252. and religions. Some people say like he's the

  253. son of God, but he's not God. So if you deny the deity of

  254. Christ, then that is not the same thing as Christianity.

  255. You're you're you're following something totally different, but

  256. not just who Jesus is. But if you deny the work of

  257. Jesus in your life, you're you're following something

  258. false. So if for you, if if salvation

  259. is not only by grace and not only by faith, if you have like

  260. this workspace salvation, you're following something totally

  261. different. That's not the gospel.

  262. It's false. And John is calling you out

  263. here. He's like, man, anything that

  264. you're following, you're following a deceiver.

  265. They're they're trying to hustle you.

  266. They're trying to get something out of you, because that is not

  267. what this is. So he's saying who?

  268. Those who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ is coming in the

  269. flesh. All these folks have gone out

  270. into the world. Any such person is a deceiver,

  271. and he's the Antichrist. Now there is an Antichrist that

  272. they talk about in the Book of Revelation, but this isn't it.

  273. What John is referring to is the spirit of the Antichrist.

  274. So anything against the gospel, anything against Christ, that's

  275. which is the word. Antichrist is the Spirit.

  276. Of Antichrist. It's the spirit of I want to go

  277. against the truth of the gospel. Now look at verse 8.

  278. Now look what he says. Then watch out.

  279. So he's giving us a warning as a fellowship.

  280. Now he's addressing this fellowship of believers.

  281. He's saying watch out that you do not lose what we have worked

  282. for, but that you may be rewarded fully.

  283. So what he's talking about here and he's he's warning the

  284. church. He's like be vigilant, be

  285. discerning, be suspicious. Or like the kids say, be suss,

  286. Ask questions. Because what's at stake is

  287. extremely vital for the future. You know, John wants them to

  288. experience the full reward. Now there's two things where

  289. John is talking about when we look about when we talk about

  290. reward here, he wants them to to experience the full fruit of

  291. their work. Now, like any faithful pastor

  292. like John and Paul are talking about, is concerned that they

  293. don't lose ground spiritually of the people that God has put

  294. under their watch. And I know we see this a lot.

  295. I see this a lot, especially talking with other churches and

  296. how our church is thriving and growing and then they allow

  297. someone to come in with false doctrine.

  298. Someone that divides someone and and then with all that they work

  299. for it becomes divided and you lose a lot of ground that you've

  300. already covered. So the fruit that.

  301. That they're talking about is the fruit of watching believers

  302. walk in obedience to Christ. Man, let me tell you something.

  303. If you leave one person to Jesus, you're going to be

  304. hooked. It's going to become your life,

  305. like there's no greater joy, there's no greater feeling.

  306. And to to see somebody go from death to life, it's not about,

  307. like, transforming your behavior.

  308. It's not about, like, I used to say, bad words and I don't do

  309. bad words anymore. No, I'm talking about like a

  310. true heart change. When you experience that

  311. firsthand, it changes you. You're like, man, like, I want

  312. to give my life to this. And I'm going to use every

  313. aspect of my life to tell people this amazing news, how Jesus

  314. changes you and he saves you and he loves you and he wants to

  315. transform you and your family. It's an it's an amazing thing.

  316. That's the fruit that John is talking about.

  317. But if we leave, if we let deception, if we let the anti,

  318. the spirit of the Antichrist come in, if we let all these

  319. things infiltrate the church, you're not going to be able to

  320. experience it because you're going to be too busy trying to

  321. fix with somebody else broke. Instead of being on watch like

  322. he talks about in Berse. He's saying, man, watch out for

  323. this stuff. You know, Paul had the same

  324. fear. I'm going to go ahead and read

  325. it. I don't know if it's good.

  326. I don't think it's going to be on the screen, but. 2nd

  327. Corinthians Chapter 11. I want to reach his fourth quick

  328. verses because Paul is seeing this in the Church of Corinth

  329. and it says this in in 2nd Corinthians 11.

  330. I hope you will not put me in a little.

  331. I'm sorry. I hope you will put up with me

  332. in a little foolishness. Yes, please put up with me.

  333. I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy.

  334. I promised you to be one husband to Christ so that I might

  335. present you as pure virgin to him.

  336. But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent's

  337. cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere

  338. and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes to you and

  339. preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached.

  340. Or if you receive a different spirit from the spirit you

  341. received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you

  342. put up with it easily enough. See what Paul's concern for the

  343. the church that he was planning and pastoring in in Corinth was

  344. just that, That people were going to fall for a gospel that

  345. was not one that he preached. And then they're going to buy

  346. into a spirit that was not one that he brought in.

  347. This happens a lot, and he's concerned.

  348. And that's the concern. Now what else?

  349. What is the other full reward? The other reward is the reward

  350. that you receive in glory and eternity, you know, So as

  351. believers, whenever we perish from this earth.

  352. Our life doesn't just end it actually, it just starts to

  353. begin because we'll be in the presence of the Lord.

  354. But the Bible also talks about there's a reward for those

  355. believers who remain faithful to the calling of the truth here on

  356. this earth that you will receive in heaven.

  357. So I always get that question like, well, Ricky, what if

  358. someone denies Christ and they're on their deathbed and

  359. then like 2020 or 10 or 20 minutes?

  360. Before they pass away, they pray and they accept Jesus and then

  361. they go to heaven. What do like, is that fair?

  362. What do they guys like? Yes, that's that's great man.

  363. That's that's God's grace on our lives.

  364. But for those who have been faithful, year after year, day

  365. after day, in the obedience of Christ, there's a reward that

  366. you get in glory. There's an additional reward

  367. that you get. And what Paul is point or what

  368. John is pointing out is like you don't want to miss out on that.

  369. Just because you missed the mark, you know, in 2004, I don't

  370. know how if anybody here watches like the Olympics 2004, the

  371. Olympic Games were in Athens, Greece, and the NBA puts

  372. together this dream team. Anybody familiar with the dream

  373. Team, right? They take all the greatest

  374. basketball players, they put them together and they send them

  375. to the Olympics. And in the 2004 Olympics, they

  376. had this really stacked team and I mean they had LeBron had Allen

  377. Iverson, Tim Duncan, Carmelo Anthony Mulberry, Dwyane Wade.

  378. The list goes on is all this is amazing at group of athletes

  379. there the US is always expected to win the gold medal and

  380. basketball which is like common sense.

  381. Of course, the first game they play and the Athens Olympics

  382. they lose. To Puerto Rico anyway.

  383. So it's true. First game they lose by 19.

  384. Puerto Rico, everybody's freaked out.

  385. Like what? What happened?

  386. So that year 2004 with all these amazing players, they actually,

  387. they win the bronze medal. What happened?

  388. You had all these amazing people and the more you read about it,

  389. it was really the coach. So Larry Brown was the coach in

  390. 2004, and what Larry Brown decided to do was he tried to

  391. run the team as it was his own team, the Philadelphia 76ers,

  392. didn't work at all. Even got to the point where

  393. players quit like they went home.

  394. They were like, I'm not wasting my time with this.

  395. So you have this group of amazing talent, all these All

  396. Stars, and instead of letting them do their thing and letting

  397. them win, and he tried to micromanage their game and it

  398. did not work. So you had all of this set up

  399. nicely. All you had to do was kind of

  400. just got like manage players, let them do what they're best at

  401. and you'll see them win the gold.

  402. But what he did was he decided to try to do his own thing.

  403. And it actually ruined it for the United States.

  404. See, what what John is getting to here is that John is just

  405. telling us he's like, man, make sure that you your focus is

  406. correct. Make sure you don't ruin what's

  407. already put in place. What's put in place is the

  408. truth. What's put in place.

  409. We have his word. But when you try to step in and

  410. try to add your own spin to things, you're going to end up

  411. losing. See, God's truth is what works.

  412. God's truth has always worked. It stands the test of time.

  413. There's been men and women who have given their lives to the

  414. gospel, and it's always been pushed forward.

  415. But when we try to step in and think that we're better than

  416. this, that we could manage this, we're going to fail.

  417. And then the last verse anyone who runs ahead and does not

  418. continue in the teaching of Christ.

  419. Does not have God. Whoever continues in the

  420. teaching has both the Father and the Son.

  421. This is a difficult verse. Y'all.

  422. If you teach anything that's not the gospel, you don't belong to

  423. him. There's a lot of people that say

  424. things in the name of Jesus. There's a lot of people that

  425. claim things in the name of Christ.

  426. And what he's saying is like, no, like if you continue in the

  427. teaching of the deceivers, you don't belong to God.

  428. You're not his. That's a difficult truth for us.

  429. But if you do, then you have both the Father and the Son.

  430. Man, that's a that's a that's a hard truth for many of us.

  431. So what do we do with this passage?

  432. Because the next couple of verses talk about those who come

  433. in your way and that teach something that's not the gospel,

  434. like you're not supposed to help them out, and if you do, you're

  435. actually helping them in their foolishness.

  436. What does that mean? So remember, John is writing

  437. this to a fellowship of believers because that's kind of

  438. not the most loving thing, just to, like, tell people to keep it

  439. moving. But what he's saying is that

  440. you. Are able to do that in love and

  441. you can still treat people with respect and you can still be

  442. kind and even use apologetics but you are not to aid them and

  443. helping get their foolishness out.

  444. You know, I was thinking about this we have we have a close

  445. family friend who doesn't really believe what we believe and I

  446. remember he asked us if. If I would be willing, if if me

  447. and my wife would be willing to get our friends together.

  448. So that way he could kind of pitch a presentation of what he

  449. believes to us. And, you know, Rachel being the

  450. social worker, super kind. Oh, OK.

  451. I'll see what we can do. I'll check their schedule.

  452. And then in my mind, I'm like, hold on a second.

  453. No. Oh, like #1.

  454. You're grown, man. You do that yourself.

  455. And I'm not your assistant, but I'm not going to gather people.

  456. To listen to a teaching that is not the truth and just buy into

  457. your foolishness. If you want to do that, you keep

  458. it moving. I would love to be front row.

  459. I have a lot of questions for you.

  460. But if you think I'm going to aid you and you trying to tell

  461. people what your belief system is, you've got another thing

  462. coming. And that passage is here.

  463. Because if anyone comes to you and does not bring this

  464. teaching, do not take them into your house or welcome them.

  465. Because anyone who welcomes them shares in their wicked work.

  466. So I was just thinking about like, man, how do we what?

  467. What? What do we do?

  468. How do, how is this encouraging to us?

  469. Because these are some hard truths.

  470. So what I want to do, just for the next couple of of moments,

  471. John is talking to the fellowship of believers.

  472. He's talking to a, a, a church. We we know that based off of

  473. verses one through 6. So I want to encourage us

  474. talking to a fellowship of believers.

  475. I want to encourage us talking to city posts church and I want

  476. to make some promises and I want to make some truth statements

  477. based off of the text that I hope will encourage you today

  478. and we'll have only got 3 and then we'll be done.

  479. I actually had 20, but then I was looking at the time.

  480. I was like, I'm mine. Let's go to first one, number

  481. one, this is something I want us to know about City posting about

  482. this church. We acknowledge the deity and

  483. humanity of Jesus Christ, period.

  484. We acknowledge that Jesus is 100% man and he's 100% God.

  485. So if you look at verse 7, he's saying a lot of deceivers, man.

  486. They don't acknowledge Jesus is coming in the flesh.

  487. And what I want to tell you is that here at City Post.

  488. We do acknowledge Jesus is coming in the flesh and he did

  489. come as the perfect sacrifice. And I also want to say that he

  490. is the only way to salvation. That's John 14 six.

  491. He said, I'm the way, the truth in the life.

  492. No one comes to the Father except through me.

  493. And I also want to tell you that he is the only way to salvation.

  494. He is the only way to God. It is only through grace that we

  495. are able to be saved. There's not anything that you

  496. can do to earn God's acceptance so that any man could boast he

  497. is the Lamb of God that the the John the Baptist was telling us

  498. about. Where John the Baptist says I

  499. must decrease so that way he could increase like I'm not

  500. worthy to tie his sandals up. He's the Lamb of God.

  501. He's the one. That saves us.

  502. He is the absolute truth. He is the only way to eternity,

  503. and he is the only one worthy of our worship.

  504. So there's some of us in here who don't really believe this.

  505. I'm telling you with love and truth.

  506. Jesus Christ is Lord and he's the one we're worshipping in

  507. here. If you don't like it, I'm sorry,

  508. but Jesus Christ is God. He's the one that died.

  509. He was buried and he resurrected.

  510. And listen, I'm going to say this with a lot of love.

  511. He doesn't need his mom's help. He is Lord.

  512. He's the one who is reigning at the right hand of God right now.

  513. Here's some promises that I want to give you based on the text

  514. City post church. We will watch out for certain

  515. things. We're going to be on the watch

  516. out now I know a lot of people are like, well church should be

  517. inviting to everybody. Yes it is.

  518. We want the whole world to come in here.

  519. But if you think. That you're going to come in

  520. here and start teaching things and running things and

  521. influencing people. If you don't believe that Jesus

  522. is 100% man and 100% God, that's not going to work in here

  523. either. So what are we going to do?

  524. We're going to watch out for non biblical ideologies here at this

  525. church. We look at everything through

  526. the lens of scripture. I know a lot of people like to

  527. use other authors, and that's great to subsidize some of the

  528. teaching, but if it ain't in scripture, it's not going to be

  529. taught here. So we're going to look out for

  530. non biblical ideologies. We're going to call out bad

  531. theologies. If something don't match up,

  532. we're going to call it out in a loving way.

  533. We will point to false doctrine and we are going to call out

  534. wrong motives. So if you're not about Matthew

  535. 28, if you're not about the Great Commission, about making

  536. disciples of Christ, if everything that you're about is

  537. about you and about your organization, about what you're

  538. trying to grow, if anything about Jesus, then we're not

  539. going to push that forward. We will call that out.

  540. What's difficult about this, a lot of church kind of lean and

  541. sway on these things. For the purpose

  542. Because in all honesty, the the church in America has come very

  543. become very consumeristic. And when things are

  544. consumeristic, they're run like businesses.

  545. And when you have a business, you need a higher bottom line.

  546. It's all about like how we build this thing, how do we get more

  547. money, how do we get more staff. And you have to be very, very

  548. careful. So we will not lean, we will not

  549. sway. We're going to stay straight

  550. whether people like it or not. That's who we are.

  551. So City Post is going to be about that.

  552. We have to check those things. And and we're going to and we

  553. don't say this to try to be like mean or proud or prideful.

  554. We do this because scripture requires us to the Our Lord

  555. tells us to do this. Then the third one, we will not

  556. lean and we will not sway, but we will take a stand.

  557. We will not lean and we will not sway, but we will stand, you

  558. know in in the culture that we live in today.

  559. And I've seen this especially as pastors and as churches, we are

  560. called sometimes to lean in certain directions politically,

  561. culturally, kind of what's happening in in, in, in what's

  562. going on in our world. But what City Post will not do

  563. is we're not going to do either lean or we're not going to sway

  564. from the truth, but we're actually going to stand on the

  565. word of God and the truth of the gospel.

  566. So we're going to call, we're going to stand on the truth.

  567. We're going to call sin whatever the Bible calls sin, we're going

  568. to call holiness. Whatever the Bible calls

  569. holiness, we're going to preach an allegiance to Jesus Christ.

  570. We're not going to like oh, it's okay if if no, like whatever the

  571. the truth it is, that's what we're going to stand on and

  572. we're not going to sacrifice our kids on the altar of sports or

  573. other activities. Our kids are going to be our

  574. focus and we're going to raise them in the truth of the gospel.

  575. So whatever the world calls parenting, we're going to ignore

  576. that and goes exactly to what Scripture calls parenting.

  577. We're going to stand on the truth of the family, on how men

  578. should be the the the leading roles of the household, how we

  579. should be the spiritual leaders of our house, how we're held up

  580. to a higher accountability. Because that's what God says.

  581. So we're going to stand on these truths at City Post Church.

  582. Now one last thing I will say, we're going to do all of this

  583. for the next one. We're going to do all this in

  584. love and truth. So we're going to stand on the

  585. truth. We're going to lean on it.

  586. We're going to, we're going to tell, we're going to, we're

  587. going to call some things out. But we're going to do this with

  588. the spirit of love and we're going to do this standing on the

  589. truth of the gospel. Because we want to make sure

  590. that we find ourselves as as be, as having our hands clean to

  591. what God has called us to do.
