  8. I love City Post because of the community we've been able to

  9. build. To do ministry like Jesus.

  10. For light to push back. Darkness.

  11. This is City Post podcast. All right, so after last week,

  12. Moses and Aaron, they are on. Their way to talk to.

  13. Pharaoh, and you know they. Had a little bit of.

  14. A conflict of belief and God met them there and today we're.

  15. Going to look at a passage and we're going to look at a text.

  16. That many people talk about and this is whole idea.

  17. Of. Pharaoh hardening his heart

  18. it's. Almost like God said.

  19. I'm going to harden your. Heart Pharaoh so.

  20. You're going to get mad because I hardened it and many people

  21. read this text, and many. People take the text.

  22. Out of context, So what? We're going to look at today is

  23. as. Moses and Aaron step into the

  24. calling that God told them, and they're going.

  25. To do exactly what God. Told them to do.

  26. Pharaoh is going to meet them with a hardened heart.

  27. And we're going to see. How?

  28. That becomes and then what we could learn from that and then

  29. we're going to talk about some frogs and all that.

  30. Cool stuff. All right, so look at chapter. 7

  31. verse one and we're just going to dive into this thing.

  32. Let's read verses 1-2 and three, and then.

  33. We'll we'll we'll chat so. Verse one and chapter.

  34. Seven, says the. Lord said to Moses, See, I have

  35. made you. Like God.

  36. To Pharaoh and your brother Aaron will be your prophet.

  37. You are to say. Everything I command you and.

  38. Your brother Aaron is to tell Pharaoh to let the Israelites.

  39. Go out of his country, but I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and

  40. though I multiply my signs and wonders in Egypt, he will not

  41. listen to you. Then I will lay my hand on

  42. Egypt, and with mighty acts of judgment I will bring out my

  43. divisions. My.

  44. People. The Israelites, all right.

  45. Let's go back to verse one. Verse 1 is a little bit

  46. interesting when you look at the text because it's like man.

  47. What is? What is God?

  48. Saying here I'm going to make you Moses like God to Pharaoh.

  49. So the Lord said to. Moses, I have made you like God.

  50. To Pharaoh. So you got to remember, as we

  51. tracked during this story, Pharaoh made.

  52. A decision in. Exodus chapter 5, verse 2.

    Exodus 5:2

  53. Pharaoh's decision was I'm not going to.

  54. Jack with your God. I'm not going to mess with him.

  55. I don't believe in him. Exodus 52 says Who is the Lord,

  56. that I should obey his voice to let Israel?

  57. Go therefore God's like, OK, I'm not going to deal with you.

  58. I'm going to send Moses to deal with you instead.

  59. And I think this is a good lesson for us that I think

  60. sometimes that when we reject the Lord and as God is trying to

  61. call us and and get our attention and talk to us, he's

  62. going to send other people in our path to convey a message.

  63. For us. And that's what's happening,

  64. Pharaoh made. A choice Pharaoh's like.

  65. I'm not messing with this. God of Israel, so God's like,

  66. OK. I'm going to send you Moses.

  67. And he told Moses. This already he's like, you're

  68. going to be like God to Pharaoh. And then Aaron is going to be.

  69. Like the prophet. So that's exactly what's.

  70. Happening now, but I will. Also say that this is.

  71. Also another example of the. Richness of God's mercy.

  72. Because we just. Spent all this these last.

  73. Couple of weeks of. Of Moses wrestling with this

  74. calling that. God placed on his life.

  75. And God met Moses in that mess, and he explained everything to

  76. Moses. Instead of chastising Moses, God

  77. met with him and God explained it to him, and he's walking

  78. Moses. Through which I.

  79. Think is a great example. Of the God that we.

  80. Serve. And his greatness and mercy now.

  81. Verse 2. You're going to say everything I

  82. command you so. What's the the key here is like?

  83. Everything I say to you, Moses, you're going to tell Pharaoh and

  84. your brother, I'm sorry, I'm you're going to tell Aaron and

  85. Aaron. Is going to tell Pharaoh to let

  86. the Israelites? Go out of this country, but God

  87. gives them a condition. He's like, but I'm just going to

  88. give you a. Heads up I will.

  89. Harden Pharaoh's heart, and though I multiply my signs and

  90. wonders in Egypt, he will not listen.

  91. To you. Now, this whole idea of

  92. hardening Pharaoh's heart, I want us to be careful that we

  93. think that God is is kind of turning Pharaoh against him,

  94. when really. What we're seeing here is that

  95. Pharaoh's desire. And this indication against.

  96. Israel, what God is doing is that God is allowing Pharaoh to

  97. accept that. Inclination in the.

  98. Hatred that he has toward. Israel, God is giving.

  99. Pharaoh over to what he. Wants And because God gives him

  100. over to what he wants, Pharaoh's heart continues.

  101. To get hardened. Now I.

  102. Think one of the best examples I've heard of this if you think

  103. about. A cement truck.

  104. So anybody here in construction knows that when you have a

  105. cement truck. The trucks show.

  106. Up on the job. And as the truck drives to the

  107. job, it is. Mixing the cement Now what

  108. happens if there's no movement on the truck?

  109. What happens if they throw all the cement in the truck and then

  110. it drives an? Hour without the water.

  111. And the movement and the. Mixture.

  112. The cement gets hard. And listen, it's the same thing

  113. whenever there's no movement in our life, when there's no

  114. relationship in our life with God, our hearts begin to get

  115. hardened toward Him. There's no movement, there's no

  116. freshness. There's no.

  117. Water of Life. And as you're going through.

  118. Life your heart. Begins to harden for the things

  119. of God. Your heart begins to harden.

  120. For the people of God. And your heart begins to harden

  121. for the ways of God. And what God does is that

  122. whenever you start looking at things in that.

  123. Light God does what you. Want and he says go.

  124. Ahead and have it. And we see that out of Romans

    Romans 1:24–28

  125. chapter 1, verses 24 through 28, the Bible says that when people.

  126. Started to follow the. Creation instead of the creator

  127. God gave them. Over to their evil ways.

  128. And says go for it. And the reason why he does this

  129. is because he knows that everything that you're chasing

  130. that's not him is going to end in emptiness and disaster.

  131. You're going to get to. A place in life.

  132. Where you're going to hit. Rock bottom and you're going to

  133. have to look up and you're going to need a savior and The thing

  134. is our. God is so.

  135. Loving and kind that when that happens there, when that happens

  136. to you, he's going to offer. You a way out.

  137. So her pharaoh is. Hardened now he has accepted

  138. this is what he wants. He has refused to this humble

  139. request that Moses has made. He does not want anything of it.

  140. He's like, OK, fine, have it. It's going to be your.

  141. Choosing Now here's what's even. Crazier God is like, listen, his

  142. heart is going to be hardened. He's not going.

  143. To do what you say. And.

  144. Here's what's even Wilder Moses. I'm going to do all these signs

  145. and wonders that means I'm going to give him.

  146. Opportunity after opportunity after opportunity.

  147. To obey and come to me. And after every miracle and

  148. after every opportunity, for some reason, he's going.

  149. To refuse. He's not going to listen to you.

  150. Then I will lay my hand on Egypt, and with mighty acts of

  151. judgment. I will.

  152. Bring out my divisions, my people to Israel.

  153. Verse 4. When I read verse 4.

  154. Go and put verse 4. Up when I read.

  155. Verse four I was like, man, that's.

  156. That's kind of a a, a strange verse.

  157. The way it reads. And really with verse.

  158. Four. In the scripture this is.

  159. Called a double designation. Right.

  160. So he's he's, he's. Giving Israel a double

  161. designation here, so he calls. Israel, he's like.

  162. I'm going to, I'm going to get out my truck, my, my divisions

  163. and then my people, the visions, Israel.

  164. Was set up. Kind of like as a military camp

  165. to fight the Canaanites. So Israel is.

  166. Set up in 12 tribes, 12 divisions purposely and God is

  167. like, I'm going to pull out my divisions.

  168. I'm going to pull out. The people of Israel, but.

  169. Then the second term is what we call a possessive pronoun.

  170. The possessive pronoun is. Because Pharaoh.

  171. Right now thinks the Israelites belong to him.

  172. Pharaoh's like, no, I own the Hebrews.

  173. They're my slaves. They work for me.

  174. Those are mine. And God is like, no, I'm not

  175. going to just pull out my tribes.

  176. I'm going to pull out my people, not.

  177. Pharaoh's people, but. My people, God is making.

  178. A. Statement here and what I want

  179. to look at before we jump into verse. 6.

  180. I think that there's some things that we can learn from Pharaoh's

  181. heart and heart now. The older I've become, the more

  182. I. Realize that I rather.

  183. Learn from people's terrible. Decisions and mistakes than me

  184. experiencing them myself. Now I know there's some of us in

  185. here. Let's just be honest with my

  186. have a friend where you're like, hey man, I don't think you

  187. should eat that. And what's the excuse?

  188. Well, I'm the kind of. Guy that has to.

  189. Experience it for myself 'cause I'm hard headed.

  190. You're like, OK all. Of us have been there, we've all

  191. done those things. Bro.

  192. Don't date her man. This is bad news.

  193. That's going to be different this time.

  194. Two weeks later. Don't save her.

  195. She don't want to be. Saved, right?

  196. I'll be like, that's the I. Was like I warned you.

  197. J. Cole coming up.

  198. Right, I get you were told. And many of us kind of go.

  199. Through that and really like. My heart as a pastor, I think

  200. that there's some things that we could learn that when you have

  201. someone. That you look at through

  202. history, who has. Hardened their hearts toward

  203. God, who has leaned on their own.

  204. Pride instead of saying yes to the Lord Jesus Christ or yes to

  205. the Lord Yahweh, we see we see a pattern here with.

  206. So let's what can we learn from Pharaoh SO3 quick things and

  207. it'll be on the screen. Number one, it doesn't get

  208. better. I know some of us are like, man,

  209. Ricky, it's hard right now in life.

  210. But if I just keep. Doing what I'm doing and if I

  211. just line up my ducks in a row and everything is cool at the

  212. same time of ignoring God, listen.

  213. Pharaoh started. His heart got hardened.

  214. He wanted nothing to do. With God and we're.

  215. Going to see even after. The first couple of plagues.

  216. He's like, Nah, I'm, I'm, I'm good.

  217. My magicians could do it. And listen, it's going to get

  218. worse and worse and worse and worse and worse.

  219. So. Pharaoh has to bow.

  220. His knee and say OK. Forget it.

  221. Like just take it just. Y'all just leave and listen.

  222. That's a lesson for us. Because if we're not following

  223. the Lord, if you're turning on. Jesus things.

  224. Are not going to get. Better for you it's.

  225. Actually going to get worse. Because the Bible.

  226. Says that the enemy. Comes to steal, kill and

  227. destroy, but then Jesus says I've.

  228. Come to give you life. Anything in sin is going to lead

  229. you. To a place of.

  230. Destruction and death and it's. Disguised in something that

  231. feels. Good.

  232. And it's real nice and I've seen.

  233. People who have. Turned away from the Lord and

  234. has lived. Life in years and years and they

  235. get to a place. In life and they're like.

  236. Yeah. Man, I'm still rocking.

  237. It's awesome. But then you look back and it's

  238. like. A trail of dead bodies.

  239. Broken marriages. Bad relationships, death, all

  240. these terrific like things that are.

  241. Not working well for them. Why?

  242. Because when you choose. Not to follow Jesus.

  243. You're choosing not to follow. Not to take in life.

  244. And forgiveness and grace and mercy.

  245. And you're going to. Spend your whole entire life.

  246. Searching and nothing is going to suffice.

  247. Pharaoh started and listened. It don't get better.

  248. It didn't get better for Pharaoh, it got worse #2.

  249. What can we learn from Pharaoh when you choose to harden your

  250. heart? It impacts.

  251. Those closest to you. You know what's funny about

  252. Pharaoh and all his pride and all his selfishness?

  253. He didn't really think about the impact that was.

  254. Happening on the. People of Egypt and what we're

  255. about to look at is as God. Is working to free.

  256. The Israelites in the Hebrews, the people of Egypt, are equally

  257. suffering. They're taking on what?

  258. Pharaoh's Pride is producing. Look at Jonah when Jonah

  259. refused. To follow the.

  260. Lord, he got on a boat and what happened?

  261. Everybody on that boat. We're like we're all about to

  262. die. And Jonah's like it's probably

  263. my fault. Throw me off, throw me off.

  264. Listen when you choose not to. Follow the Lord.

  265. It doesn't just impact you, it impacts all of those around you.

  266. It impacts your families, your. Kids, there's this ripple effect

  267. that happens all because you. Chose not to.

  268. Say yes to Christ. And not to follow him in the.

  269. Heart. In your heart there's.

  270. Some consequences that happen. And then lastly #3 what can we

  271. learn from Pharaoh? God is going to smash your

  272. idols. God is the idol smasher.

  273. Man, I remember when. I love UFC when?

  274. Conor McGregor was going to fight Khalif.

  275. It's like the highest selling pay-per-view that ever happened.

  276. 2 undefeated fighters went at it and I remember that press

  277. conference. Conor McGregor is hyping

  278. everybody up and everybody's yelling at Khalif and Khalif

  279. gets on the mic and he says this famous line.

  280. He's like tomorrow night I'm going to.

  281. Smash your boy. And that's all he kept

  282. repeating, I'm going to smash your boy.

  283. And whenever, whenever we come to God with other things, God is

  284. like, I'm going to smash your idols.

  285. He's going to crush them. There is nothing that will stand

  286. against our God, and God will not share His glory with

  287. anything. Else and Pharaoh is going.

  288. To learn this the hard. Way God will destroy our idols.

  289. And Speaking of idols, let's. Talk a little bit.

  290. About what happens next, because now God.

  291. Is going to start implementing his plan.

  292. It is fight time. It is go time.

  293. So look at verse. 6 Moses and Aaron.

  294. Just did as the Lord. Commanded them.

  295. Moses was 80. Years old.

  296. Aaron was 83. When they spoke to Pharaoh,

  297. you're never too old. To get involved, I'm just.

  298. Saying the Lord said. To Moses and Aaron when?

  299. Pharaoh says to you. Perform a miracle, then say to

  300. Aaron. Take your staff, throw it.

  301. Down before. Pharaoh, and it will.

  302. Become a snake. So Moses and Aaron went to

  303. Pharaoh and did just as the Lord commanded.

  304. Aaron threw his staff down on the floor in front of Pharaoh

  305. and his officials. And guess what?

  306. It became a snake. Pharaoh then summoned wise men

  307. and. Sorcerers and the.

  308. Egypt and the Egyptian magicians also, they did the same thing.

  309. With their secret arts. Each one threw down his staff

  310. and it became a snake. But Aaron's?

  311. Staff swallowed up their Staffs, but yet Pharaoh's heart.

  312. Became hard and. He would not listen to them.

  313. Just as he had said. So think about this.

  314. And we, I know we talked about. The staff what that?

  315. Symbolizes but in the Hebrew. The word staff is actually the

  316. same word that they use as tribe.

  317. And how God is? Saying put the staff down and it

  318. became a snake, but then it says.

  319. That the sorcerers. And the magicians they.

  320. Used secret arts. Which means almost like a

  321. trickery. Like like, like.

  322. I won't say like. Black magic or witchcraft, but

  323. it was almost like the sleight of hand it was.

  324. It was something trickery. And listen what was not.

  325. Impressive. Was that their Staffs?

  326. Became snakes as well. What really kind of pushed back

  327. was when Aaron's. Staff ate the other snakes.

  328. You see, everything was all good when the snake started coming.

  329. Everybody's like that's. Cute, but because it was.

  330. Secret art and this snake started to eat those snakes.

  331. It was like, hold on a second, that ain't supposed to happen.

  332. There's something going on here. Wait a second.

  333. And what? We're going to get at Is that

  334. God? Is going to use plagues.

  335. Now. When you read about the.

  336. Plagues you're like. That's kind of strange.

  337. What are these? Plagues about blood and frogs.

  338. And. All these like what is.

  339. Happening here so. Go ahead and put the.

  340. Slide up about the plagues. What God is going to do here is.

  341. God is going to go. After every.

  342. Single one of the Egyptian gods. That they worship every plague

  343. is to address a God. That the Egyptians worship it's

  344. not to make the. Their life.

  345. Harder, you know, whenever. We see these.

  346. Stories and whenever we watch Prince of Egypt, we see it and

  347. we don't really. Understand but what God is.

  348. Doing is that God is showing them and God is giving them a

  349. way out in verse 5. I'll read this, so just keep the

  350. slide up, it says. And the Egyptians will know that

  351. I am God, I am the Lord, when I stretch out my hand against

  352. Egypt and bring the. Israelites out of it.

  353. What God? Is going to say is.

  354. Listen, I'm not only going to free my people, but I'm going to

  355. give the Egyptians an opportunity to become free as

  356. well. You see, the plan was.

  357. Always to free the Hebrews. It was never to destroy the

  358. Egyptians. So what God is?

  359. Doing is that God is. Showing his.

  360. Prominence. He's showing who Yahweh.

  361. Is in the way. That he has to.

  362. Show his prominence. Is he's going to start?

  363. Taking out all the other. Gods.

  364. Little G. And that's the same thing he

  365. does in our lives, isn't it? You know why?

  366. Because he will. Smash your boy, he will.

  367. Destroy your idols. So what I want to?

  368. Do is is I'm just. Going to summarize, there's a.

  369. Lot of chapters here. So I want us.

  370. Just to walk through. I got the Cliff notes version.

  371. So after the the staff gets thrown.

  372. Down and becomes snakes then and remember we.

  373. Talked about this last week. God, God told Moses.

  374. What to do? Right.

  375. Then he goes to the Nile River and.

  376. He takes his staff and. He touches the Nile and it turns

  377. to blood now. If you were to.

  378. Tell the Egyptians hey, the Nile River is going to become.

  379. Blood, you know. What they wouldn't really.

  380. Freak out, there's a God called a psoriasis.

  381. And the God, a psoriasis is the God of the Nile.

  382. And the God of the Nile is the God that brings life.

  383. And listen, if you study the Nile, once a year the Nile

  384. overflows and it floods all the farmland.

  385. Now remember Egypt is a desert nation, so whenever those floods

  386. come, because it flows from north to South.

  387. It it takes up that like red dirt, that red.

  388. Clay So when it floods all the farm grounds, there's almost

  389. like a red tint to it and what the Egyptians believe is that

  390. the God of. Rices is is.

  391. Taking good care of them. He is.

  392. He's making sure that the people of Egypt are great.

  393. Also Us Rises is the God liturgy.

  394. Of resurrection and afterlife. Now here's the problem.

  395. When the Nile turns to blood, everything dies.

  396. The Bible. Says that all the fish.

  397. Die. The Bible says that the the Nile

  398. just stinks it smells so bad. Like Trinity.

  399. I'm Shogun on the Dallas side. Not Fort Worth, Not Dallas,

  400. right? That's just wrong.

  401. All right, So what happened? To Australia, I thought.

  402. I thought he was the. God of afterlife and

  403. resurrection. But yet when the river.

  404. Turned to blood. Everything died.

  405. And there's death. All the fish are dead, all the

  406. sea life are dead. It.

  407. Stinks. Everywhere.

  408. And think of how hard this is. There's blood everywhere.

  409. There's blood like I. Can't wash my clothes now

  410. because there's little blood in there.

  411. I can't I. Have no drinking water.

  412. How do we bathe? So what?

  413. The Bible continues to say so. Think.

  414. About like this is days without. Water in Egypt.

  415. So what the Bible says is that they had to dig holes.

  416. On the. Side like almost like.

  417. Digging a well in. Order to get water so that water

  418. that they're. Digging.

  419. For is is like this murky water that they're probably.

  420. Having to boil in. Order for them to survive.

  421. So now the Nile is. Full of.

  422. Blood. And you know what?

  423. Pharaoh says too bad, let's go back to work.

  424. His heart was hard. He saw that.

  425. And he still didn't believe. So.

  426. Let's go on to the next plague #2 is.

  427. The frogs hit. What's up with that?

  428. Now when I think of fighting somebody, I don't think of

  429. frogs. So there's a God in Egypt called

  430. Hecht. So the Bible says that frogs.

  431. Swarm the land entering homes. And what's interesting is.

  432. There's a, There's a. Detail in scripture in.

  433. Chapter 8 that says that the frogs were.

  434. Even in the. Beds of the Egyptians.

  435. Why is that an important detail? Hecht.

  436. Is the God of fertility. So what the Egyptians believed?

  437. Is that Hecht? Is what?

  438. Allows the women and families to bear children and to.

  439. Grow their families. Actually, it gets even crazier.

  440. That if you. Kill a frog in Egypt.

  441. It's illegal. It's like.

  442. If you kill a cow in India, it's illegal.

  443. So there's frogs. Everywhere you can't kill them.

  444. It says that there were. Even frogs in the oven.

  445. So how are they going to eat now?

  446. I can't kill the frogs in my. Food in my refrigerator, in my

  447. oven. Frogs are everywhere.

  448. They're in the beds. If I kill a frog, they're

  449. sacred. That could be the death.

  450. Penalty. So now there's no water, there's

  451. no food. I can't cook nothing because

  452. they're in the ovens. So there's no food, there's no

  453. water. Like like what's?

  454. Going on And then the frogs end up dying.

  455. So what the heck? 'S going on, then the Bible.

  456. Says that they had to. Take all the frogs and and they

  457. had to put. Them in piles.

  458. So think about this. You have a Nile.

  459. That killed all the fish. And the stench.

  460. That that created. Now you have.

  461. Heaps and. Piles of dead frogs everywhere.

  462. How does that smell? I mean, the place is becoming a

  463. disaster. Quickly and Moses.

  464. Says Pharaoh. Let our people go worship our

  465. God. And Pharaoh's hard.

  466. Hardens doesn't go well, then the next one is lice or gnats.

  467. And here's the problem. What?

  468. What what the Egyptians believe? Is that when things would cover?

  469. I don't know in. Spanish called memes when

  470. things. Are covered in gnats or.

  471. If people. Had gnats or if people.

  472. Had lice that. Means that they were considered

  473. unclean and that they were not. Allowed to go to the.

  474. Egyptian temples and. Worship the 42 other gods.

  475. So what God does is that God. Covers the whole entire place.

  476. It says that it's like dust. Turned into gnats or lice.

  477. So because of all of this that takes place.

  478. Now none of you guys, nobody here is worthy enough to go to

  479. the temples and worship. Your gods.

  480. What happened? Why are the gods not allowing

  481. us? To go worship them because

  482. they're dead. They're not alive, they're not

  483. real. So one by one, God is knocking

  484. them off. Listen, Austria, like the one

  485. that you thought brought life? No dead.

  486. Heck, the one that you thought. Brought this fertility that

  487. brings. Life no pile.

  488. Dead. You can't.

  489. You want to go worship? Nope, they're not going to.

  490. Let you, because they're dead. Too Next one are flies.

  491. Now it's. Flies.

  492. Oh, it's getting better. Now, when we think of.

  493. Flies we think of like. Like mosquito flies?

  494. But no, this is Egypt. These flies were actually

  495. larger, larger bugs, right? There's, there's, there's.

  496. Something called a scarab beetle, and this is kind of what

  497. they're talking about. There's a God little G called

  498. Key now. This little this little G God

  499. had the head of A A. Scarab beetle and what the.

  500. Scarab beetles would do is that they would.

  501. Be like dung bugs. So they would take little

  502. pieces. Of dung.

  503. And they would. Roll.

  504. They would push. Them and they would roll them

  505. and then they would. Use it as food.

  506. So think about you have. All these flies, all these

  507. Skyrim. Beetles everywhere and what the

  508. Egyptians? Believe is that this this little

  509. G God chi would. Take the take the sun like a

  510. dung ball and then it would move the sun daily and that's how

  511. days and seasons would function. So what God is saying?

  512. Is no, it's dead too, because it's covered everything.

  513. And it is killing everything. So it's not bringing life, it's

  514. not helping you. Produce life.

  515. It's actually taking life then after the flies.

  516. In the swarms of insects, then. We have this livestock disease.

  517. All Egyptian livestock. Is dead, but the Bible says that

  518. all of the Hebrew livestock stayed alive.

  519. So with a lot of these. Plagues.

  520. They're impacting Egypt and the Egyptians and a.

  521. Lot of the plagues. Are not impacting the.

  522. Hebrews and the Israelites. God is now separating them both

  523. and he's like, look at my people, I'm watching them in.

  524. Pharaohs Hard. Continues to harden and continue

  525. to make him work regardless of what's happening now.

  526. Why is it? Important that all the livestock

  527. is dead because of a disease. Because Egyptians had 42.

  528. Little G. Gods, a majority of those.

  529. Gods had the features of livestock.

  530. And God is saying Nope, all of. Those are dead as well.

  531. Then the next. Plague.

  532. It boils. Those are difficult.

  533. They're. Painful.

  534. Imagine trying to walk with a bunch of boils.

  535. On your feet, so now. All the.

  536. Egyptians are inflicted with boils, and the livestock that's

  537. leftover are inflicted with boils.

  538. Now this God is. Called.

  539. ISIS. Now ISIS is falling because I

  540. can't walk, I can't do business. I'm all like in pain.

  541. And now, at this moment in time, in the text, people are

  542. starting. To turn on Pharaoh.

  543. And his counsel? They're starting to beg him

  544. please, like, let them go. And Pharaoh's heart.

  545. Continues to harden. Next we have hail.

  546. Because he refuses. There's an intense hailstorm.

  547. It says hail and. Fire, which is hail and like a

  548. lot of. Lightning.

  549. Now think about the. Climate of Egypt, you really

  550. don't see a lot of rain and hail storms out there.

  551. Hail. You need a cold.

  552. Front to come in. So this is something people have

  553. never seen before. There's a mixture of hail and

  554. lightning and it's destroying all the crops and all the.

  555. Trees and the gods of and the God of Horus.

  556. Where are you? You're powerless to stop this.

  557. You're supposed to be the gods of weather.

  558. And the sky and agriculture and you're doing absolutely nothing

  559. to save us in. Egypt because they're.

  560. Dead and the next day. God.

  561. Sends locusts, swarms and devours all the remaining

  562. vegetation. So the God of set and rises

  563. where they at? And listen, at this point, Egypt

  564. is crippled. Egypt is done for.

  565. I don't know if Egypt got anything left and all of.

  566. This is because. Of one man's pride.

  567. One man's pride, but you know the.

  568. Two gods that are left are the two biggest.

  569. Gods in Egypt and the the next one.

  570. That God goes after is RA in Egypt.

  571. RA is the God of. The Sun it is the.

  572. One God that all the. Other little gods report to.

  573. And what does God bring Darkness, not just over, when he

  574. does darkness for three. Days.

  575. Where's Rod? Where's the God of the?

  576. Sun. It says that it was so dark that

  577. it's like. Everything stopped moving.

  578. Listen even your big time God Rod.

  579. Didn't show up to help. You, you know.

  580. The last God that God little G had to attack Pharaoh.

  581. You see what Egyptian culture? Believed was that Pharaoh was

  582. God as well that Pharaoh was half.

  583. Man, half God and that. People would worship.

  584. Pharaoh and that the gods. Would look at.

  585. Pharaoh and be. Pleased with Pharaoh, So what

  586. does God do? Now at this.

  587. Point in time. After raw, after all the.

  588. Darkness. Pharaoh sends Moses and Aaron.

  589. Away. And he says if I.

  590. See y'all. One more time.

  591. If I see you guys. Again, I'm going to kill.

  592. Y'all like I'm done with. You even there's a.

  593. Sorry, I have my. Verse here.

  594. Yeah, so. Exodus chapter 10, verse 7.

    Exodus 10:7

  595. This is kind of where we're at. Pharaoh's official said to.

  596. Him How long will this man be a snare to?

  597. Us, let the people go. So that they may worship.

  598. Their the Lord, their God. Do you do?

  599. You not yet realize that? Egypt is ruined.

  600. They're like, enough is enough, Pharaoh.

  601. We got nothing left and. Pharaoh calls a man and says, if

  602. you come, if I see you again, I'm killing you both.

  603. And in Pharaoh, Moses and Aaron walked out.

  604. Now the last plague God sends the Angel of darkness.

  605. And what this? Plague is is that.

  606. Every Egyptian first born child and animal leading.

  607. To the exodus is going. To die every single child.

  608. But God sends a plan called the Passover, which we're going to

  609. look at in a few weeks. Like I said, everything is

  610. showing this. It's pointing to the Messiah and

  611. God is going through these. Plagues and he's taking out.

  612. Every single God. And when Pharaoh loses his son,

  613. there's nothing that anybody can do to bring him back because.

  614. Time and time again. God has shown that all your

  615. gods. That you pray to are worthless.

  616. They're all dead, they're meaningless.

  617. I'm the only one true God. And he got to a place now where

  618. Pharaoh finally said. Take all your people just.

  619. Get out. Just get out.

  620. You know, I started thinking, but my testimony as I was going

  621. through this and I feel like many of our testimonies.

  622. Is that is US? Following God and God

  623. eliminating. All of the little.

  624. G Gods in our life, one at a time.

  625. Oh, you thought like popularity? Is going to make you happy.

  626. Boom, you smashed it. He thought like, like, whatever

  627. it is. It's going to bring you joy and

  628. life. Boom, he smashed this.

  629. And listen, this is the same thing with our story.

  630. He continues to do this. Where he goes after the gods.

  631. And the things that we. Try to.

  632. Bring up in our lives and God says no, I am the only true God

  633. and I'm going to eliminate it because everything that you are

  634. chasing will never satisfy your life and listen he.

  635. Loves the. Egyptians enough to say, come

  636. on, I'm the one true God. I want you to know who I am as

  637. well. Pharaoh Stubborn.

  638. Now here's what's. Wild all of these plagues.

  639. God gave them in order. For the people to be free, but

  640. there's a plague. That God didn't give, but God

  641. also. Had to step in so that way all.

  642. People can be free and Jesus. Took the greatest plague of.

  643. All and it's called sin. Sin came into this.

  644. World. And Jesus stepped sin and says,

  645. no, I'm going to take it no more plagues so that way we don't

  646. have to suffer anymore. I'm just going to wrap this up

  647. this way when. God comes after our idols.

  648. It could be painful. First John chapter 5 verse. 21

    1 John 5 chapter mention

  649. John tells. Us dear.

  650. Children, keep yourself from idols.

  651. Man. I had an interesting week.

  652. I ended up having another Abscess in my great area and I

  653. thought it was. Just a sore like I just thought

  654. it was a. Callus or something.

  655. No, I wasn't. And it was so painful, like just

  656. to even move. I was sitting around and finally

  657. Rachel. 'S like we got to.

  658. Just go get that thing like taken care of because I'm

  659. getting fevers and if you guys saw me on 1st Wednesday I was

  660. sweating bullets for no reason and I was just fighting this

  661. sickness. So I went to the.

  662. Doctor and this whole. Time like Lord what?

  663. What's going on? Like this is crazy.

  664. And I remember like just lying on the.

  665. Bed and the. Doctor and the Doctor.

  666. Begins to tell me what he's had what he's going to do he's like

  667. man I'm going to I'm going to have to inject this in there

  668. he's going to burn and then he. Uses words that.

  669. You don't want to. Associate with that area.

  670. You know what I'm saying? Like needle burn?

  671. Cut bleeding like let's. And I'm sitting here like.

  672. Oh Lord. And then he begins and he's

  673. like, now, Ricky. Is.

  674. Going to hurt a little bit. And I'm here like, you know,

  675. like I'm trying. To think like happy thoughts.

  676. I'm thinking about like me and Rach and Dr. Like I'm just like

  677. Lord. This is going to this is going

  678. to be painful. And he started the whole process

  679. and yes, it hurt a little bit. But you know what's wild?

  680. Is when when the the. Pressure was released.

  681. Half my body felt like a. Like a coldness, like a.

  682. Relief. And it it just.

  683. Felt like just this like. Oh, man, it just felt wonderful.

  684. And I remember he just kept telling me he's like, you know,

  685. it's, it's going to be painful, but it it's going to feel

  686. better. The other day I was, I was

  687. praying here. I just felt the Lord mention

  688. something to me. He said Ricky, you know, like

  689. pain is. Not always in the hurt.

  690. There's going to be pain in your healing as well.

  691. And when God removes idols in our lives?

  692. Let's just. Be real man, it's painful

  693. sometimes. Like the things that.

  694. We've always thought. In our lives, like the things

  695. that I've always believed, the things that.

  696. I always thought would. Bring me joy, the.

  697. Relationships, I always thought. Everything that.

  698. I always thought I had. And God.

  699. Destroys it Listen, it doesn't feel good.

  700. It hurts there's. Pain behind it.

  701. But there's. Healing in the pain and I think

  702. sometimes we have to acknowledge that when things hurt, it's not

  703. always bad. Sometimes when things.

  704. Hurt. It's good because.

  705. When that pain goes away, the healing process takes place and

  706. man, you just feel like a new person again.

  707. Man, I felt relief immediately after that.

  708. And listen when God removes. Our idols.

  709. It could be extremely painful. Jesus tells us in Matthew 624

  710. you cannot serve 2 masters. You got to pick.

  711. Jesus always talked about idols. But also this is the beauty of

  712. this. All don't don't miss.

  713. This like Ricky, but if it hurt, what?

  714. What does Jesus say in Luke 19 he's hanging out with?

  715. IKEA and everybody's looking. At Jesus, like man, you're

  716. hanging out. These these bad people.

  717. You're the Son of God you're not supposed to hang out with.

  718. Tax collectors and cheats and what are you doing and what does

  719. Jesus say for it is. Not the healthy who need the.

  720. Doctors, it is the sick. Where I came to seek and to

  721. save. That which was lost.

  722. Listen to purpose Why. God destroys our idols is.

  723. Because he wants what's. Best for you and he loves.

  724. You, but I'm not going to lie to you.

  725. It's going to be painful sometimes, but there's.

  726. Healing in the. Pain.

  727. It's going to hurt, but once the pains decide.

  728. Like. You feel so much better.

  729. Sometimes God needs to RIP. Some things out of our lives so

  730. that way we can be better because we.

  731. Sometimes don't know what we have.

  732. Until the great. Surgeon fixes it.

  733. I want to encourage. You today.

  734. I know today. Was a little bit different.

  735. It's the only way I can get. Through like 4 chapters.

  736. In 140 minutes, don't. Let today go by with the

  737. realization. That I'm still serving other

  738. little gods. There's things in my life.

  739. That I find more. Important than God and listen

  740. God is. Going to destroy it.

  741. And I think some of us in here, like Ricky, I'm there.

  742. God is destroying my world right now and I'm in pain.

  743. But listen, there's healing in the pain.

  744. You don't have to be in pain alone.

  745. God's going to meet you in that. Pain.

  746. And listen, you're going. To feel way better.

  747. So as we finishing this last song, I want to encourage you

  748. guys. If you're on this side of the

  749. room, there's going to be some brothers here that we want to

  750. pray with you. If you're on this side, if you

  751. want to come over here, that's. Cool too, the altar is also

  752. open. If you just want to.

  753. Pray by yourself or if you want to pray with a.

  754. Friend, but if you need somebody to pray with, you don't have to

  755. go through. Pain by yourself, God is.

  756. Healing you right now, and sometimes it hurts and I think

  757. we need to be vulnerable and say, Lord, I'm in, I'm hurting

  758. right now. But also understand that God

  759. loves you and he's doing it. To heal you, to give.

  760. You life forgiveness of sin. You can experience pure joy.

  761. We pray for us. So Jesus, thank you.
