  1. Good morning. Good morning, everybody.

  2. >> Thank you, worship team. I really I like

  3. that last song. Boy, that was good,

  4. wasn't it? Well, it's nice to be with

  5. you this morning. Uh I've got my lovely

  6. wife here in the front row, which is

  7. excellent. And it's great for me since

  8. uh uh two years ago, the church was

  9. finally delivered from my attempts to be

  10. a pastor. And so these days, I'm I

  11. travel from place to place. And it's

  12. nice to uh it's nice to uh have a Sunday

  13. that doesn't involve a long drive in the

  14. car or an aeroplane ride. So it's great.

  15. I I when when uh when Aaron said, "Hey,

  16. would you come to Toadong Elim?" I was

  17. like, "That's like eight minutes from my

  18. home." So I was pretty excited about

  19. that. So I'm probably more excited to be

  20. here than you are.

  21. Um, I was thinking actually as I was

  22. driving here this morning, actually,

  23. well, from early this morning, I was

  24. thinking about the uh the Brownsville

  25. revival that began on Father's Day. I

  26. think back in like 1995 or something.

  27. And this was a revival that happened in

  28. a church in Florida where suddenly on

  29. Father's Day, the Holy Spirit broke out

  30. in a way that was sovereign and

  31. surprising. And so, I was thinking about

  32. that all morning. And then I arrived

  33. this morning and during the team time uh

  34. Aaron puts a video on the screen about

  35. the Brownsville revival. And you know

  36. there are there are times when the Lord

  37. will move sovereignly and surprisingly.

  38. There are times of awakening and these

  39. times of awakening usually surprise the

  40. church or sometimes even offend the

  41. church. You know, one of my favorite

  42. ones is there's a story of an awakening

  43. that happened off the coast of Scotland

  44. in a place called Lewis Island. And it

  45. began like the population was incredibly

  46. hard-hearted and opposed to the things

  47. of God. It was a very tough place to

  48. preach the gospel. And there were these

  49. two older ladies. I I won't say their

  50. ages because you always get in trouble

  51. if you declare a certain age as old,

  52. don't you? And also as you get older,

  53. have you noticed that like like when I

  54. was 18, I thought the age I'm at now

  55. was, you know, problematic.

  56. And and now now I look and I'm like,

  57. well, it's not so bad. Um, but these two

  58. older ladies, let me say, let me say

  59. this, uh, older than I. Uh, and they

  60. were they were praying and one of them

  61. set herself to pray at one end of the

  62. town and another one set herself to pray

  63. at the other end of the town. and they

  64. prayed and suddenly there was this day

  65. where suddenly the entire population

  66. became uh open to the things of God to

  67. the point where one of the only known

  68. overt Christians in the whole town was

  69. the local police officer. And he turned

  70. up at his constabularary at his police

  71. station early in the morning for his

  72. regular shift to find 600 people waiting

  73. in the darkness.

  74. And the reason they were there is

  75. because they'd suddenly become aware of

  76. their need for God. And the only place

  77. that they knew to go to get answers to

  78. find out what to do with what they were

  79. feeling was to go to the one well-known

  80. Christian in the town. They went to the

  81. police station and they had a revival

  82. meeting under the stars at 6:00 in the

  83. morning in front of the constabularary.

  84. I believe that for New Zealand,

  85. something is coming.

  86. Can you feel it? It's like something is

  87. coming. Something is up. And and these

  88. days, uh, because I'm in a different

  89. town, like literally every weekend, you

  90. can check with my wife. I'm not

  91. exaggerating. I'm in a different town

  92. every weekend. And there are green

  93. shoots of revival all over the land. I I

  94. got invite I got invited a little while

  95. ago to Tokoa. And when I got invited to

  96. Tokidoa, I this is going to sound

  97. terrible, but I didn't have a great deal

  98. of enthusiasm to go to Tokoa. Like, you

  99. know, the pastor was saying, "Come to

  100. Tokada." And I was like, "Oh, really? Do

  101. I want to go there?" Because it was

  102. always just one of those places you

  103. drive through, you know what I mean?

  104. Like, and I went there. Did you know I

  105. had the best time? And so, three times

  106. since then when I've had to go places,

  107. I've deliberately driven through driven

  108. driven through Tokoa because I now have

  109. this totally different view. And you

  110. know what we saw? We saw God moving.

  111. Particularly, there's a large Filipino

  112. community in Tokoa. We had a revival

  113. meeting in Mangakino. I'd never been to

  114. Mangakino in my life. And yet we had

  115. this revival meeting filled with these

  116. Filipinos. And you know what was out?

  117. What the Filipinos? Man, do they do

  118. food? If I had to spend too much time in

  119. Tokido, none of my clothes would fit me.

  120. So something is coming. Uh, can I have

  121. the the picture, please, of the plaque

  122. from my son's wall? The picture from my

  123. son's wall. So, you see up there on the

  124. screen there, this is a picture that my

  125. daughter, our daughter, made for our

  126. youngest son. And it hangs still hangs

  127. on the well, it doesn't right now

  128. because I'm renovating the room, but it

  129. hangs on the wall in his room. And

  130. obviously, it says, "The two most

  131. important days of your life are the day

  132. you're born and the day you find out

  133. why."

  134. Every human being that is alive has had

  135. the first day. Every human being has had

  136. the first day. And on that day, every

  137. human being, including us in this room,

  138. we were born into a world where if we if

  139. we're a little bit, if we're a little

  140. bit honest about it, it seems like

  141. something is broken.

  142. It seems like it's a world filled with

  143. pain and filled with sickness and filled

  144. with despair. It feels like something

  145. has gone horribly wrong somewhere. Would

  146. you agree? Like if we look at like I

  147. like to be positive but if you look at

  148. the world it feels like something's gone

  149. horribly wrong. And this is humanity's

  150. normal. This is what we are used to. If

  151. we live in the world created by only

  152. knowing the first day,

  153. there can be many voices that are

  154. shouting at us. And those voices often

  155. seem like they are pulling us in dark

  156. and destructive directions. They say

  157. things like this. We are all alone.

  158. There is no God. There is no higher

  159. power, no accountability, no legitimate

  160. authority. No one is watching. Nothing

  161. matters. So go wild. There are no

  162. consequences.

  163. Sort of sort of uh uh playing on that.

  164. Paul wrote this in 1 Corinthians 15. He

  165. he he quoted this. Let us eat and drink

  166. for tomorrow we die. It's like it's like

  167. pointless.

  168. Voices, if you only know the first day,

  169. say things like this. There is no

  170. purpose to your life. There is no reason

  171. that you're here. And so, as a result,

  172. people tend to drift aimlessly without

  173. motivation.

  174. The Bible puts it this way. Proverbs

    Proverbs 29:18

  175. 29:18, where there is no revelation,

  176. people cast off restraint. If we don't

  177. have a revelation, if we don't have a

  178. sense that there is a purpose and a

  179. meaning to our human existence, then we

  180. become literally like a train at high

  181. speed running off the tracks and going

  182. wild. And this can be a pathway for many

  183. to to meaningless and hopelessness. And

  184. it can be a pathway to substance abuse

  185. and addiction, suicide, depression,

  186. self-destructive behavior. I remember

  187. hearing this uh years ago whack back

  188. when I was a youth pastor. Someone said

  189. this. They said, "People that don't

  190. value their future will throw away their

  191. present."

  192. I was in a difficult situation once when

  193. I was a youth pastor. I know I know that

  194. you can't imagine that, Brody, but I was

  195. put in a difficult situation as a youth

  196. pastor when this mom brought her teenage

  197. daughter along to see me and said, "She

  198. needs some help. Talk to her." And and

  199. she brought her in, sat her down, and

  200. then she left. And this 14, 15 year old

  201. girl, she was sitting there and boy, she

  202. she she wanted to be there probably even

  203. less than I did at that moment.

  204. And so I'm sitting there and the mom's

  205. gone out and closed the door saying,

  206. "I'll wait outside." And you know, the

  207. implication was, "Do something, fix

  208. her." And so I'm sitting there going,

  209. "Oh my word, what on earth am I going to

  210. do?" And so, you know, you're

  211. multitasking. You're like looking at

  212. this young lady and going, "Okay, I'm

  213. trying to talk to you, but you're also

  214. going, "Help me, Jesus." Have you ever

  215. been in that situation? Get used to that

  216. because there's probably more of that

  217. coming. And I'm sitting there and I'm

  218. like, what should I do? And the this

  219. thought dropped into my head. Ask her if

  220. she wants to get married one day. And

  221. I'm like, really? That's what you got?

  222. Is that really? So I said to her, I

  223. said, "So do you do you plan do you plan

  224. to get married one day?" And she looked

  225. at me like, "What is wrong with you, you

  226. buffoon?"

  227. And I said, "Just humor me for a minute.

  228. Do you want to get married to someday?

  229. Not not to me, obviously. Do you want to

  230. get m just to be clear, you know, there

  231. wasn't that going on. Um, do you want to

  232. get married to someone someday? And she

  233. said, "Oh, well, I suppose." I said,

  234. "Well, tell me tell me about the guy

  235. that you would marry." And at first, she

  236. was not really into it. She was just

  237. like looking at me like she wanted me

  238. dead. And but as she got into it, she

  239. started she started to perk up. She

  240. started to get enthusiastic. She started

  241. to describe who she wanted to marry,

  242. what she wanted to wear, where the

  243. wedding would be. And by the end of that

  244. brief conversation, her whole demeanor

  245. had changed. Why? Because she suddenly

  246. saw something back in her future.

  247. Prior to that, she she'd been dark and

  248. suicidal, but she saw something in her

  249. future.

  250. The good news is friends that we don't

  251. just live with the first day because

  252. there is another day. And the other day

  253. is a day where you start to hear a

  254. different voice. And you know this, but

  255. I want you to think about this in terms

  256. of well, I'm I'll talk to you about that

  257. in a minute. I want you to think about

  258. this in terms of of our city.

  259. How different would Tadonga be if

  260. everybody knew what we're going to talk

  261. about now? There's another voice. This

  262. voice says, "You're not alone. I made

  263. you." Psalm 139:14, "You are fearfully

    Psalms 139:14

  264. and wonderfully made. You are not a

  265. chance evolutionary accident. You were

  266. carefully and purposefully

  267. created."

  268. The voice goes on and says, "I made

  269. you." And it says, "I made you to know

  270. me. Not just to be religious, not just

  271. to be churchy. I made you to know me, to

  272. hear my voice. Matthew 4:4 says, "Men

    Matthew 4:4

  273. and women do not live by bread alone. We

  274. live by hearing every voice that

  275. proceeds from the mouth of God." We were

  276. made to hear his voice. He says this. He

  277. says, "I made you to hear my voice. I

  278. made you to feel my presence." Psalm

    Psalms 46:10

  279. 46:10, "Be still and know that I am

  280. God." Which doesn't mean just sit still

  281. and think happy thoughts about Jesus. It

  282. means sit, wait, stay until you

  283. encounter him. We were made to know him,

  284. to know him personally. And I would even

  285. say tangibly. So he said, "I made you. I

  286. made you to know me." And then he goes

  287. on and says, "I made you to be like me."

  288. Romans 8:29 says this, that God is

    Romans 8:29

  289. conforming us into the image of his son.

  290. That doesn't mean you have to you have

  291. to start wearing a Jesus garb like you

  292. know as you travel around you you know

  293. you probably can't imagine this but

  294. there are some there are some believers

  295. that are a little odd in various places

  296. and sometimes they think you know

  297. sometimes they think to to be like Jesus

  298. I've I've got to you know I've I've got

  299. to wear a robe and grow a long bed.

  300. Nothing wrong with a long bed. Nothing

  301. long wrong with a robe you know and I've

  302. got to wear sandals. That's That's not

  303. what he's talking about. He's talking

  304. about I'm going I'm going to conform you

  305. to what he's actually like.

  306. I'm I made you I made you to know me.

  307. And he says, I made you to be like my

  308. son. I was so encouraged the other day.

  309. I had a I had a a young young lady and

  310. she was asking me all sorts of curly

  311. questions.

  312. And uh at the end of the curly question,

  313. she she wanted to give me a compliment,

  314. but she didn't know how. And so she was

  315. just like, "Oh, you're just, you know,

  316. you're you're duck." And she she popped

  317. out with, "You're just so Jesusy."

  318. And I was like, "Wow, that's amazing."

  319. Because I don't know about your story,

  320. but I look at my life. And boy oh boy,

  321. if I'm Jesusy,

  322. I wasn't. Can anyone relate to that? Can

  323. any, you know, you look and you go,

  324. "Wow, Lord, what a work of

  325. transformation you are doing in my

  326. life."

  327. I made you. I made you to know me. I

  328. made you to be like me. And then he says

  329. this, I made you to carry my Holy

  330. Spirit. I made you to carry my power.

  331. Acts 1:8, but you will receive power

    Acts 1:8

  332. when the Holy Spirit comes on you and

  333. you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem,

  334. Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the

  335. earth. That you know that word ends of

  336. the earth, it's it's a Greek word

  337. esqueto. It means the furthest most

  338. point.

  339. Interestingly enough, Acts 18 was spoken

  340. in a place called Jerusalem. And you

  341. know, literally the furthest most point

  342. from Jerusalem is to

  343. just saying

  344. you will be my witnesses. You I will you

  345. will receive power when the Holy Spirit

  346. comes on you and you will be my

  347. witnesses. Your lives will be living

  348. proof.

  349. of the the the life and death and

  350. resurrection of Jesus Christ.

  351. Can I can I tell you in uh with I'm not

  352. going to go into any details, but uh my

  353. wife and I, we have we have uh two

  354. grandsons and another grandchild on the

  355. way because of the Lord's power in our

  356. daughter's life. We have uh uh we have

  357. three nephews and a niece because of the

  358. Lord's healing power in my sister's

  359. life.

  360. He made us and he says, "I I made you. I

  361. made you to know me. I made you to be

  362. like me and I made you to carry my

  363. power." And then he says this, "I didn't

  364. make you to be a spectator. I made you

  365. to be a part of my mission. I made you

  366. to be a part of my mission." You know

  367. this Matthew 28:18, "All authority in

    Matthew 28:18

  368. heaven and on earth has been given to

  369. me." Jesus said, "Therefore, go and make

  370. disciples of all nations."

  371. There's nothing in there about, "Oh,

  372. well, I would, but I'm too young."

  373. It's amazing when you travel. I'm I'm

  374. not talking about you. This church would

  375. never make excuses like this. I'm

  376. absolutely sure of that. I'm sure that

  377. none of you have ever made these

  378. excuses. But there are some people they

  379. say, "Well, you know, I I I would serve

  380. the Lord, but I'm too young."

  381. And then there's another group that say,

  382. "Well, I would serve the Lord, but you

  383. know, I'm a bit old."

  384. And then there's another group that say,

  385. "Well, I would serve the Lord, but I've

  386. got a mortgage and a job and I'm too

  387. busy." And the question becomes, well,

  388. when you going to do it? When are you

  389. going to do it? Obviously, I'm not

  390. talking to you. So I'm obviously talking

  391. to some pe I won't point in any

  392. direction because in toadong everywhere

  393. you point there is a church.

  394. He says I made you to be a part of my

  395. mission. Your life is not meaningless. I

  396. have a purpose for you. You are not here

  397. to watch from the sidelines.

  398. You are here. Ephesians 2:10 says and

    Ephesians 2:10

  399. you are God's workmanship created in

  400. Christ Jesus to do good works he planned

  401. in advance for you to do. Hello. You got

  402. a little bit quiet there. You right.

  403. Imagine every believer. Imagine every

  404. believer doing their part in making

  405. Jesus known to everybody.

  406. It's not going to be one sizefits-all.

  407. The way that you will do it will be

  408. different from the person beside you.

  409. You won't you won't all do it like like

  410. the overt 10 feet tall and bulletproof

  411. evangelists.

  412. But every p imagm Imagine every p imag

  413. imagine how different toadonga would be

  414. if everybody knew

  415. you know we we are in uh you know our

  416. city has this uh this week that no other

  417. city uh in our nation has minivan week

  418. you know what minivan week is e like for

  419. the next seven days toonga is a traffic

  420. jam of minivans jammed with 11 12 and 13

  421. year olds as games as I pulled up I Glad

  422. I was early because it looked like there

  423. was the potential for a parking

  424. catastrophe outside because Ames Games

  425. came to this part of the city.

  426. Imagine how different it would be if

  427. every one of those intermediate school

  428. kids knew.

  429. >> If every one of those intermediate

  430. school kids knew, not just day one, but

  431. day two. Imagine how different it would

  432. be. Imagine how different New Zealand

  433. would be if everybody knew.

  434. So God says,

  435. "I made you.

  436. I made you to know me. I made you to be

  437. like me. I made you to carry my power. I

  438. made you to be a part of my mission."

  439. And then I believe he says this. Psalm

    Psalms 139:16

  440. 139:16 says, "All the days ordained for

  441. us were written in his book before one

  442. of them came to be." He says this. He

  443. says, "I didn't just make you, but I

  444. planned exactly the time that you would

  445. live in. I planned for you to be the

  446. exact age that you are right now on this

  447. date at this time."

  448. I meet a lot of people that are like,

  449. "Oh, well, brother,

  450. don't you wish you lived back in the

  451. Jesus revolution?" They go, "No, you

  452. know, or this one. Oh, brother, don't

  453. you don't you wish you were 21 again?

  454. And I go, "No, I was." And you don't

  455. want me to be 21 again either. Remember

  456. that work of transformation I just

  457. referred to? Let's You know,

  458. there's a lot of believers who wish they

  459. live in another time, but God says, "I

  460. planned and ordained the days that you

  461. would live in."

  462. So, in these days chosen for us to live,

  463. I believe this. I believe the Lord is

  464. going to do something that is going to

  465. shake the world. I believe that we have

  466. one more great awakening ahead of us.

  467. And I I believe that these green shoots

  468. that are all over the place are signs of

  469. that great awakening coming. And I

  470. believe this great awakening will go

  471. something like this. Matthew 24:12 says

    Matthew 24:12

  472. this. Because of the increase of

  473. wickedness, the love of most will grow

  474. cold. The love of most who? People who

  475. had a measure of love. This is talking

  476. about Christians who are looking at the

  477. world around and going, "Wow, this isn't

  478. getting better and better like I was

  479. told it was going to all my problems

  480. didn't go away. This is this is looking

  481. a bit dodgy." And it says their love

  482. grows cold. Why? Because they were told,

  483. "Don't worry. Come to Jesus. All your

  484. problems will go away. And it's just

  485. going to get better and better. You're

  486. going to get younger and fitter and

  487. healthier and better looking and richer

  488. and etc etc. Verse 12, because of the

  489. increase of wickedness, the love of most

  490. will grow cold. Verse 13, but the one

  491. who endures to the end shall be saved.

  492. And verse 14, and this gospel of the

  493. kingdom shall be preached in all the

  494. earth as a testimony to all nations, and

  495. then the end, literally the goal shall

  496. come.

  497. Imagine two churches.

  498. Verse 12, church,

  499. love of people growing cold. Oh no,

  500. what's happening in the world? I'm just

  501. I I'm freaking out.

  502. Verse 14, church.

  503. Jesus is coming soon. Everything

  504. happening in the world is pointing to

  505. the fact that this is coming towards the

  506. end of the age. There I am so on fire. I

  507. can't help but share the gospel. If I

  508. don't share the gospel, I'm going to

  509. explode.

  510. Imagine the difference between those two

  511. churches. Hello.

  512. Who wants to join? verse 12.

  513. Who wants to join verse 14?

  514. >> The challenge is you can't join verse

  515. 14. You got to be it.

  516. >> You can join that one. That church, you

  517. can join that one, but you can't join

  518. this one. You got to be it.

  519. >> People that want to join churches, they

  520. talk like this. They go, "Oh, well,

  521. brother, I hope I hope you got a good

  522. message today." I don't know why I do

  523. that voice when I do that. I just I

  524. can't It just comes out. I can't help

  525. it. They talk like this. They go, "Well,

  526. brother, I hope I hope you got a good

  527. message today because I I just need a

  528. little boost."

  529. And the reason they need a little boost

  530. is because they never spent any time in

  531. the word or with the Lord during the

  532. week. And so, they come along to church

  533. and saying, "Hit me." Or they're like

  534. this. Well, worship team,

  535. I hope you've chosen all the right

  536. songs. By golly, I need I need a little

  537. I need a little I need a little bit of

  538. worship boosting.

  539. I remember once talking to a lady who

  540. said this to me. She said, she said, "I

  541. I quite like your church, but far out.

  542. The worship's so long."

  543. And I remember thinking, "Boy, you're

  544. going to hate heaven, aren't you?"

  545. And I was like, "Why?" And I was I was

  546. asking the Lord about it afterwards,

  547. like, "Why does she hate worship so

  548. much?" And it reminded me of that

  549. passage in James that salt and fresh

  550. water can't flow from the same spring.

  551. that she'd spent all her week perhaps

  552. gossiping and criticizing and never

  553. never any worship. And so when she came

  554. to worship, it was a foreign language

  555. and it didn't flow out of her.

  556. You can join that church, but you got to

  557. be this church. Don't come to church to

  558. get on fire.

  559. You come because you are on fire.

  560. And I believe that for this revival

  561. right now, the Lord is at work raising

  562. up a nameless,

  563. faceless tribe of humble, burninghearted

  564. champions.

  565. And they will be a generation of

  566. believers like none that we have seen.

  567. They're going to be like Josiah

  568. in two kings who turn to the Lord like

  569. no one before him or after him. They're

  570. going to be like young Mary. And

  571. remember young Mary, the archangel turns

  572. up and says to her, "You are going to be

  573. the mother of the son of God." And young

  574. Mary, even though this was a costly and

  575. dangerous proposition for her, she said,

  576. "May it be to me as the Lord has said,

  577. they're going to be this." Revelation

    Revelation 12:11

  578. 12:11,

  579. they overcame him. So John, the apostle

  580. John, John the Beloved, don't you like

  581. that term John the Beloved? Anyone like

  582. the term John the Beloved? Don't you

  583. love that that term John the Beloved

  584. only appears in the writings of John the

  585. Beloved?

  586. John's an old man. He's the only one of

  587. the apostles that lived to be an old

  588. man. Judas hung himself. 10 of them were

  589. martyed and John was the only one who

  590. lived to be an old man. and he only

  591. lived to be an old man because a Roman

  592. emperor tried to boil him in oil and he

  593. swam around in it like a jacuzzi and

  594. continued to preach the gospel.

  595. The same Roman emperor tried to poison

  596. him and it had no effect. So he stuck

  597. him on the island of Patmos to shut him

  598. up and on the island of Patmos he saw

  599. the Lord and and he transcribed the book

  600. of Revelation, the last book in our

  601. Bible.

  602. And there is an old man

  603. peering into the future.

  604. It seems to me like he saw a final

  605. generation, a generation that would be

  606. alive in the days overshadowed by the

  607. return of the Lord. And he said this,

  608. "They, that future generation, overcame

  609. him, the evil one by the blood of the

  610. lamb,

  611. by the word of their testimony, and they

  612. love not their lives so much as to

  613. shrink back from death. by the blood of

  614. the lamb, Jesus on the cross.

  615. Friends, you and I, we brought nothing

  616. to the table. It was all him. It was all

  617. his mercy.

  618. >> I don't know about you, but I brought

  619. nothing to the table. Nothing at all.

  620. The word of our testimony, the effect

  621. that his work has had on our lives.

  622. and they love not their lives so much as

  623. to shrink back from death, which didn't

  624. mean they live with some sort of a some

  625. sort of a death wish.

  626. It means that they found the king Jesus

  627. to be worth more than even their lives

  628. and they held nothing back.

  629. I believe this is the generation that

  630. the Lord is raising up. I believe right

  631. now around the land that many of them

  632. not not all of them but I believe in the

  633. early days particularly many of them are

  634. young and I believe that many of them

  635. are new believers but that is not to say

  636. that you are if you are not young and if

  637. you are not a new believer you are

  638. excluded I'm just saying in the early

  639. days particularly that's what is

  640. happening

  641. you say well why are you talking to us

  642. about this well to be honest this was

  643. not my plan I rewrote this last tonight.

  644. The reason that I'm talking to you is

  645. because I believe that some of this

  646. nameless, faceless tribe of humble,

  647. burninghearted champions are in this

  648. room.

  649. I believe this is why you're like you

  650. are.

  651. I believe this is what you were born

  652. for. Some of you, you're in this room

  653. and deep down there's like a

  654. restlessness.

  655. You can't seem to settle for what others

  656. seem to settle for.

  657. There's a feeling of like something is

  658. coming. I know something is coming and

  659. it's different from what I've known to

  660. this point. There's this there must be

  661. more. You can't settle.

  662. You see, the day you were born, that was

  663. the day you began your earthly life,

  664. right?

  665. Like everyone,

  666. you and I, we were born into shame and

  667. confusion and oppression and fear and

  668. addiction and ultimately into a life

  669. with a countdown timer that finishes

  670. with death.

  671. But that was never the Lord's plan for

  672. humanity.

  673. The day you find out why

  674. is the day you are born again.

  675. Now, born again is not some weird

  676. crackpot term used by religious nutters.

  677. Oh, you one of those born again

  678. Christians.

  679. Well, guess what? If you're not one of

  680. those born again Christians, you're not

  681. a Christian. Because you can't be a

  682. Christian unless you're born again. What

  683. does it mean to be born again? It

  684. doesn't mean to dress up in weird

  685. clothes and act odd.

  686. It's the day that you and I, because of

  687. what Jesus did on the cross, got a fresh

  688. start.

  689. that we were born again into

  690. forgiveness. We were given a clean

  691. slate. We were given hope and life and

  692. freedom and purpose. And he says, "This

  693. is your new normal."

  694. Actually, I wasn't planning to do this

  695. now, but Mr. Mr. Techman, have you got

  696. can you put one of my pictures with a

  697. face? There are some pictures with faces

  698. on there up where where is the Yep. Yep.

  699. Uh can I have can I have the one up the

  700. top there? That Yep. That one. that one

  701. that you put up. Can I have that one,

  702. please? Look at that lady.

  703. She's uh part of a church that I go to

  704. pretty regularly. And um her story is

  705. this. She lived on the streets addicted

  706. to drugs for seven years. She was

  707. raising uh her son, who I got to know.

  708. He's now 14. She was raising her son on

  709. the streets and she was pregnant with

  710. her daughter. And right around the time

  711. of the pandemic, she encountered in the

  712. middle of the street, she encountered a

  713. church that sent out a team to do

  714. worship. And she became a follower of

  715. Jesus.

  716. She got set free. She got delivered. She

  717. got unaddicted.

  718. You know, when I first met her, she was

  719. always shaking because she was still,

  720. even though she was she was clean now,

  721. she was still detoxing from the effects

  722. of all those years on the

  723. methamphetamines.

  724. Now look at her. Look at the joy. You

  725. know, now she's a part of the evangelism

  726. and deliverance team in the church that

  727. she got born again into.

  728. She'd had day one, but this is what it

  729. looked like when she got day two. You

  730. know, one John 3:8 says, "The reason the

    John 3:8

  731. son of God appeared was to destroy

  732. Satan's work." That's what it looks like

  733. when he destroys Satan's work. Do you

  734. want to see one more face? Who wants to

  735. see one more face?

  736. >> Nobody. Okay, no more faces for you.

  737. Anybody want to see one more? Okay,

  738. let's have one more.

  739. >> Yep. that one there. Look at that young

  740. fella. Little white guy. Used to be a

  741. very angry rap musician. And uh one day

  742. uh I was visiting the church that he's a

  743. part of and I was sitting in the front

  744. row and he came in. He's on the worship

  745. team and he came in sat beside me

  746. puffing and he said, "Why are you

  747. puffing?" He says, "I can't use my car

  748. right now. I had to ride my bike." I

  749. said, "Why can't you use your car?" He

  750. says, "Ah, still got a DUI to deal with

  751. from before I became a believer, you

  752. know." And anyway, cut a long story

  753. short, that young fell,

  754. he had to go to jail for 33 days in a

  755. American federal penitentiary

  756. for his DUI, his drunk driving charge.

  757. He got out in 31 days for good behavior

  758. while he was in the jail. Not one word,

  759. not one word of an exaggeration. He led

  760. 47 men to Christ.

  761. This is what it looks like when Jesus

  762. destroys Satan's works. On the first

  763. day, you were born. On the second day,

  764. you were born again. On the first day,

  765. you hear voices like there is no hope,

  766. there is no purpose, there is no

  767. meaning. On the second day, you hear a

  768. different voice. And on the second day,

  769. that's when you and I begin to encounter

  770. the Lord for real. You know, he says,

  771. "Taste and see that the Lord is good."

  772. Means you don't have to take my word or

  773. Aaron and Sarah's word or anybody's word

  774. for it. Taste and see that the Lord is

  775. good. When you meet him, he'll you'll

  776. experience his reality. You'll feel his

  777. presence. You'll hear his voice. And he

  778. will come. And where you are marked with

  779. shame and purposelessness and

  780. hopelessness, he'll mark you with

  781. forgiveness and freedom and power.

  782. You know, the experience changes you and

  783. I forever.

  784. There's this cool story in Acts chapter

    Acts 4 chapter mention

  785. 4 that tells the story of Peter and John

  786. who were preaching the gospel and they

  787. were getting some opposition from the

  788. religious leaders, the religious elites.

  789. The religious leaders, they were

  790. threatening them and telling them to

  791. shut up, but they wouldn't shut up. And

  792. Acts 4:13 says this. When they saw the

    Acts 4:13

  793. courage of Peter and John and realized

  794. they were unschooled ordinary men, they

  795. were astonished

  796. and they took note that they'd been with

  797. Jesus.

  798. Doesn't say they took note that they

  799. knew lots about him. Doesn't say they

  800. took note at how religious they were. It

  801. says they took note they'd been with

  802. him.

  803. You know what I think the key is? I

  804. don't I don't think the key for this

  805. awakening is that we all necessarily

  806. become more religious.

  807. I think it's that we

  808. be with Jesus

  809. because just like these men were

  810. transformed by being with him, so we are

  811. transformed.

  812. Wouldn't it wouldn't it be awesome if

  813. one day

  814. the city of Toadonga was so abl ablaze

  815. with revival

  816. that when we get the

  817. minivan invasion

  818. that the Lord sets an ambush for every

  819. one of those 11, 12, and 13 year olds

  820. where they come into the city and as

  821. they drive into the city, they suddenly

  822. become aware

  823. of the tangible lifechanging presence of

  824. God. And wouldn't it be amazing if they

  825. drove into our city only knowing day

  826. one, but they drove out knowing day two?

  827. >> Friends, every one of you, all of us, me

  828. included,

  829. the Lord wants to do a work in our

  830. lives.

  831. Not just here and now, but let's talk

  832. about here and now. He wants to do a

  833. walk at work in our lives so that by the

  834. time we walk out the doors that we

  835. walked in, things have changed and

  836. shifted.

  837. Here's the last thing. Worship team,

  838. would you like to reappear?

  839. That sounds dodgy, doesn't it? Like,

  840. here's the last thing.

  841. In Revelation 3:E 16, Jesus talking to

  842. his church, he says this, "Behold,

  843. I stand at the door and I knock."

  844. To me, this is very confronting.

  845. He says, "I stand at the door and I

  846. knock."

  847. The door of his own church, his own

  848. house, he's outside.

  849. At what point did they not notice that

  850. he'd gone?

  851. At what point did they did they figure

  852. that they could just get on with things

  853. without him being front and center?

  854. He stands at the door of his church and

  855. he knocks and he says, "Hey, I want in."

  856. But then also we need to realize that

  857. church is not this.

  858. This is not a church. This is a

  859. building. It's a nice building.

  860. It's a purpose purposed

  861. building.

  862. This is the church.

  863. It's this.

  864. And he says, "Behold, I stand at the

  865. door and I knock. If anyone hears my

  866. voice and opens the door, I will come

  867. in. I will have fellowship."

  868. Now, Revelation 3:16 is written to a

    Revelation 3:16

  869. particular church at a particular time.

  870. But I believe that the same principle

  871. applies where Jesus doesn't stand at the

  872. door of our lives and say, "I'm going to

  873. huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your

  874. door down." He says, "I'll knock

  875. and if you hear my voice and open the

  876. door, I will come in." And that can be

  877. the beginning of your journey, the day

  878. when you move from day one to day two.

  879. But I believe it's also a daily thing.

  880. It's also a daily thing where the Lord

  881. says, "I'm not going to demand that you

  882. spend time with me,

  883. but I'm here

  884. and I'm waiting

  885. and I'm ready."

  886. And I believe as if if you are here as a

  887. believer and you you start deliberately

  888. staring yourself more into his presence

  889. where you're not going I'll go to church

  890. on Sunday and I'll probably pray a pro

  891. few emergency prayers during the week.

  892. But where you start saying Lord you're

  893. going to see me tomorrow and the next

  894. day and the next day and I'm going to

  895. keep coming back and keep coming back.

  896. He'll begin to transform you. He'll make

  897. your life like his. You'll start to be

  898. light shining in the darkness. People

  899. around you will start to see the word of

  900. his testimony in your life.

  901. You'll stop living with that sense of

  902. hopelessness and doom. And you'll start

  903. you'll start living with with with this

  904. overflow of his presence and his life.

  905. Oh, my time is gone.

  906. Can I ask you, would you close your

  907. eyes, please, just for a moment?

  908. How do you know when he's knocking?

  909. You'll feel strangely drawn. You'll feel

  910. interested, stirred. You might even feel

  911. a little bit irritated.

  912. Maybe you're here today and he's drawing

  913. you for the first time.

  914. It's time to make peace with God. It's

  915. time to be right with God. Jesus paid

  916. the price on the cross

  917. so that you and I could be right with

  918. God.

  919. Maybe you're here and you're you're a

  920. believer, but you've been drifting into

  921. a little bit of lukewarmness.

  922. And maybe today is the day to say, "Lord

  923. Jesus,

  924. I refuse to live without a burning

  925. heart. Light a fire on the inside of me

  926. again. I don't want to sit on the

  927. sidelines and watch. I want to be who

  928. you made me to be and I want to do what

  929. you made me to do.

  930. Or maybe you're here and you were on

  931. fire long before church started today

  932. and you just need to say, "Lord, I can

  933. always have more fire."

  934. Holy Spirit, I ask that you would move

  935. across this room.

  936. I pray Lord that you would come and that

  937. you would draw close to every one of

  938. these people, both these ones in this

  939. room, the ones upstairs in the mezzanine

  940. and any who might be watching this or

  941. listening to this.

  942. Holy Spirit, we long

  943. to do the good works that you planned in

  944. advance for us to do. We long to see

  945. revival sweeping

  946. through our land. We long to see rivers

  947. of healing and deliverance and revival

  948. and salvation flowing through the city

  949. of Toadonga

  950. that everybody would know.

  951. Lord Jesus, we thank you and we honor

  952. you with all our hearts for what you

  953. have done, the price that you paid so

  954. that we can draw near to you and you

  955. will draw near to us.

  956. Just keep your eyes on the Lord for a

  957. few more seconds.

  958. In just a moment, I'm going to invite

  959. you

  960. to stand up. If

  961. if you are needing to make peace with

  962. God for the first time,

  963. if you are

  964. wanting to ask the Lord to rekindle

  965. fresh fire in your life, recognizing the

  966. fire has been growing dim,

  967. or if you are radically burning and on

  968. fire today, and you're just saying,

  969. "Lord, I want more fire.

  970. I want I want to be an inferno of your

  971. love and your presence.

  972. Friends, in about 10 seconds, I'm going

  973. to invite you to stand if if you want to

  974. say yes to any of those things. And

  975. we're going to pray for you. But I want

  976. you to decide right now whether you're

  977. going to stand so that you your your

  978. decision to stand is not affected by who

  979. does or doesn't.

  980. If your decision is yes to stand to any

  981. one of those three things, would you

  982. immediately stand to your feet right

  983. now?

  984. And as you stand there, I want you to

  985. imagine you're standing before the Lord.

  986. Not standing before me, not standing

  987. before the worship team, standing before

  988. the Lord.

  989. Standing before him and saying, "Lord

  990. Jesus, I receive what you have given me,

  991. what you purchased for me. I thank you.

  992. And Lord, I give to you everything that

  993. I have. Lord, I hold nothing back. Have

  994. all of my life today. Have all of my

  995. life.

  996. Have all of my life.

  997. Have all of my life in Jesus name. I

  998. give it to you. I freely give it to you.

  999. I offer it to you. It is my delight to

1000. surrender and offer to you my whole

1001. life. have all of me in Jesus name.

1002. Just keep your eyes on the Lord. And now

1003. I'm asking Holy Spirit that you would

  1004. meet every person

1005. with a humble willing heart,

1006. particularly those standing. I ask in

1007. the name of Jesus, Holy Spirit, that you

1008. would come and that you would begin to

1009. light the fire in them that only you can

  1010. light.

1011. I ask in the name of Jesus that you

1012. would wrap them up in your presence.

1013. that Lord you would that you would begin

1014. to stir something on the inside of them

  1015. in Jesus' name.

1016. Holy Spirit, we're asking for more.

1017. Lord, we leave behind the days of just

1018. asking you for a good church service. We

1019. are asking you for a nationwide revival.

1020. We are asking you Lord that there would

1021. be so much of your presence and your

1022. fire and your hope and your life in

  1023. these lives of ours

1024. that people around would see you in us

  1025. in Jesus name.

1026. Come on as you stand there right now the

1027. Bible says you can receive the Holy

  1028. Spirit.

1029. So right now as you stand there by faith

  1030. receive the Holy Spirit.

1031. Don't be namby pamby about that. Don't

  1032. be passive. Receive him.

1033. I receive you Holy Spirit. I receive you

1034. Holy Spirit in Jesus name.

1035. But you will be clothed with power from

1036. on high when the Holy Spirit comes on

1037. you. And you will be my witnesses, my

1038. living proof in Jerusalem, Judea,

  1039. Samaria, and to Toadonga.

1040. Holy Spirit, Holy Spirit, Holy Spirit,

  1041. Holy Spirit,

1042. Holy Spirit, Holy Spirit, Holy Spirit.

1043. Friends, in just a a moment or two, I'm

1044. going to hand this microphone back to

1045. the captain here, and he's going to give

1046. us instructions. We're going to open up

1047. the front for those of you that would

1048. like prayer. But just before we do that,

1049. couple of very quick things. Uh this

1050. young lady back here, yes, you standing

1051. there. God bless you. I see I see uh I

1052. see the presence of God around you. I

1053. see God's hand on your life.

1054. I feel like uh I feel like he is saying

1055. that he has been stirring some things up

1056. in you. I don't know if you felt

1057. restless or stirred recently, but it's

1058. like he's been stirring some things up

1059. in you. And the things that he's

1060. stirring up in you are his invitation to

  1061. you. Okay? I don't know where you're at

1062. or what you're doing or or what you do

1063. or don't know about your life, but I

1064. believe right now it's like the Lord is

1065. saying, "If you will make room and you

1066. will listen, I will show you what I made

1067. you for and where I want to take you."

  1068. And I see I see a picture of a book and

1069. I see a page turning and this page is

  1070. blank and it's a different color and I

1071. believe like the Lord is saying that

1072. what I will show you is going to be so

1073. radically different from what you have

1074. known in the past. It's like he's saying

1075. I have something for you. It's something

  1076. new. It's something different. And it's

  1077. it's like I see him looking and it's

1078. like I see him saying come on let's go.

1079. Come on. Does that make sense for you?

1080. Have you felt a stirring on the inside?

1081. Good. You're not just being polite

  1082. because I'm Yeah. Good. Well, God's

  1083. hands on your life.

1084. Uh Gordon, I felt very blessed to uh to

1085. to see you again today. And my prayer

1086. for you is that you would see with your

1087. with your human eyes what you have

1088. longed to see for all these years of

1089. ministry and walking with the Lord and

1090. serving him. I pray that you would live

1091. to see that that revival sweeping

1092. through our land would be something that

1093. you would see not from the ground the

1094. cloud of great witnesses, the great

1095. cloud of witnesses, but that you would

1096. see in the here and now. That you would

1097. find yourselves surrounded by a

1098. nameless, faceless tribe of humble,

  1099. burninghearted champions.

1100. I see this picture. I see this picture

1101. in my mind. I see you laying hands on

1102. them. I see them being baptized in the

1103. Holy Spirit and demons coming out of

1104. them. And I Lord, I pray that you would

1105. cause this man and is is this is this

1106. your is this your other half? God bless

1107. you. I pray, Lord, that this couple

1108. would see with their natural eyes, Lord,

1109. what they have longed to see and prayed

1110. for for decades of faithful service.

  1111. Thank you, Lord.

1112. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Lord. How we

  1113. doing on this side?

1114. Good. Good. Yeah. Uh this young man here

1115. in the front row. Yeah. You with the

1116. casual look on your face. Yeah. You

1117. Yeah. Yeah. Uh uh what I see with you is

1118. uh you have a you have a leadership call

1119. on your life. And I see this picture of

1120. like all these jigsaw pieces all over a

1121. table. And I see the jigsaw pieces.

  1122. They're all chaotic. And I I'm not

1123. trying to tell you your life's a mess.

1124. But sometimes life can feel like that.

1125. There's all these bits. You don't know

1126. how they all fit together. And I see the

1127. Lord working diligently in putting them

1128. all together. He's putting them all

1129. together and he's getting you ready to

1130. be what he made you to be, which is

1131. radically different from the plans that

1132. other people had for you. Feel like the

1133. Lord says to you, you are going to be a

1134. sign and a wonder. And there are times

1135. when you are going to be a shock and an

1136. offense to people. Not that you're going

1137. to be offensive, not that you should aim

1138. to be offensive, but the Lord is going

1139. to he is going to shock people through

1140. you if you let him. He's going to

1141. arrange those pieces of the jigsaw and

1142. he's going to make what uh what you

1143. could never have made of yourself and

1144. he's going to use you. I believe that

1145. you will stand as one of the great

1146. generals in this emerging tribe of

1147. revivalists that he's raising up

1148. now. I see this picture of you with with

1149. a bucket and I just see you pouring out

1150. water. It's like the Lord's saying you

1151. cannot pour out too much of your life.

1152. Pour it out. Pour it out to him. Give it

1153. to him. Hold nothing back. Just keep

1154. pouring it out. And no matter how much

1155. you pour you out, you'll never run dry.

1156. Because the more you pour out, the more

1157. he'll pour in. Because the Bible says,

1158. "The one who sws sparingly will reap

1159. sparingly. But the one who sws pours out

  1160. generously will reap generously."

1161. You're not made for the middle of the

1162. road. The middle of the road is not

1163. where you are made for. You you you you

1164. are you are made to be full on

1165. full on fullon after the Lord.

  1166. Right, I'll stop there. But I just it's

1167. like I could just Oh, I just want to

  1168. keep going. Okay,

1169. good, good, good, good, good, good,

1170. good. All right, I'll hand this back to

1171. you. Do you want to come and give some

  1172. instructions

1173. and then we can pray for people up the

  1174. front?

  1175. Awesome.
