Discovering Christ, Pt. 4: Jesus Died As A Substitute | Jon Valdez, Vidal Panos Jr.

to be reading some word as we as we do not only Sundays but every

day. Yeah, our topic is still in the

dust Discovering Christ series, and this is Part 4, where Jesus

died as our substitute. Yes.

And we're going to be reading in John 1513, First Peter, 224,

Isaiah. 53 five Second Corinthians 521 first John 22

and 1st John 4:10 and also Romans 324 to 26, Romans 8 three

John 4:10

to four. Galatians 1/3 to five and first

screen chance 15 three to four. Yes, that's a lot of verses, as

No one has greater love than this.

That one lays down his life for his friends.

Yes. Next is first Peter 2/24.

He himself bore our sins and his body on the cross so that we

might die to sins and live for righteousness by his wounds you

have been. Healed.

Isaiah 53 verse 5. But he was pierced for our

Isaiah 53:5

transgressions. He was crushed for our

iniquities. The punishment that brought us

peace was on him. By his wounds we are healed.

Next is Second Corinthians 521. God made him who had no sin to

be sin for us, so that he in him we might become.

The righteousness of God. First, John Tutu.

He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only, but

also for the sins of the whole. World.

Yes, that is first John 410. This is love.

Not that we love God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to

be the propitation for our sins. And Romans. 325 to 26 God

shedding of his blood to be received by faith.

forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished.

time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have

Next is Romance 8 three to four for what the Law was powerless

to do because it was weakened by the flesh.

God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of simple flesh

to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the

flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law

might be fully met in us who do not live according to the flesh,

but according to the Spirit. Amen.

Galatians 1 three to five, Grace and peace to you from our God of

our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our

sins to rescue us from the present evil age according to

the will of our God and. Father to whom be the glory

forever and ever. Amen.

Yes. Next is First Corinthians 15,

three to four. What I received, I passed on to

you as of first importance, that Christ died for our sins

according to the scriptures, that he was buried, that he was

raised on the third day according to the scriptures.

And now it's time to discuss and gather our thoughts about What

does this passage teach us about?

Yeah, to start off, I actually observe an unfamiliar word that

was used, and that word is. Computation.

We had a hard time pronouncing this word before we even started

taping, and if you look up that word, it actually means an

offering that appeases the wrath of someone.

And to put that word into context to the passage we just

read, it's actually the act of appeasing the wrath of God by

offering an appropriate sacrifice.

It's basically synonymous with the with a toning sacrifice.

I would like to think of it like it's the basically the right

amount, the appropriate amount of fee to pay as a fine to a

violation. Like have you been?

Have you? Experience being stopped by a

traffic enforcer because he violated something of it.

Yeah, yeah, I did. Yeah.

That's Christ is similar to that scenario, especially when we

have violated big time, which is, you know, sin.

Yeah. The penalty must be very big

too, because of that. And you know what?

That's where he comes in. Christ, he is the.

The the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for our

sins, but also for the sins of the world.

That's what it said in the scripture.

And yeah, and this is love. Not that we not that we love

God, but but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the

propitiation for our sins. Yes, and Speaking of love, I

would like to share something about that based on the passage

we have read, The greatest Love is a Life.

Sacrificial love, which the Lord Jesus did for us?

Yes, Based on John 15. Three.

The greatest love of all? Yes.

But. Actually the greatest love of

all is a sacrificial love which the Lord Jesus did for us.

So that is the greatest love of all based on John 1513.

And also next is Jesus borders sins on the cross so we might

die to sins and leave the righteousness.

And and we are healed by Jesus moons.

Yes, it's first Peter 224. Yes.

And I think the the verse is already self-explanatory.

Yes. But you know what this reminds

me of something that we've already talked about, Romance

8/3. It talks about sin offering and

you know it. Does it sound familiar to you?

Yeah, we talked about this before, yes, and I like to bring

it up once again. That's topics I remember, that

Moses and the Israelites were required to offer a lamb without

damage to be a sacrifice for a sin.

Offering so. Guess what, Jesus.

He had no sin. According to Second Corinthians

521, which I think Vidal is going to mention, he really was

the perfect candidate to take someone else's sins.

So we can see that because he's. Perfect.

That's right, yeah. And you know, he's the sacrifice

for reconciliation, basically. That's got that's a good point,

John. Next is the law was designed to

be obeyed, so we will be found sinless, but our human nature

makes it powerless. That is why God gave Jesus

Christ to us as a sacrifice for us to be saved.

Yes, yes. That is, God made Jesus, who had

no sin to be seen for us, so that in Jesus we might become

the righteousness of God. It's based on 2nd Christians

521. Next is Jesus was pierced and

crushed for our transgressions and iniquities.

In order for us to have peace with God, Jesus was punished

be atoned according to the passages we read.

We can be atoned to the shedding because of the shedding of Jesus

blood and by receiving it by faith.

So I do believe that isn't just one sided, it requires an

action, it requires an input from us and that is to believe,

to put our faith in Jesus. Amen.

And the passage that we just read on 1st Corinthians 15,

three. You can read it again and again,

but it talks about his resurrection, which we're going

to talk about. Next week.

of the passages that we just read.

Let's try to analyze and digest what we can get from it and but

righteousness. Because through his death on the

cross we we, all of us, believers, we ought to die to

our sins or unrighteousness. Yes, So that's my I will, I will

live right. Yeah.
