Hello everyone and we would like to welcome you to Sunday Live.
-
So here with me. Yes, it's Kuya Vidal.
-
He's very, he's shy. Kind of.
-
I'm just kidding. Here is Kuya Vidal and my name
-
is John Valdez. So, yes, thank you.
-
For taking time to join us to read through God's Word today.
-
Previously we have read about the Ascension and the hinted
-
return of Jesus. Last week, yes.
-
And we couldn't be more excited than today.
-
Oh, yes, because. What we are going to read in the
-
Bible is the truth about eternal life.
-
Yes, I think that's something. And and to you know what the
-
title of this very episode already suggests, as you can
-
already see, probably it is about the how to solve eternal
-
life according to our Lord Jesus Christ.
-
So this is episode one, which leans on to saving faith.
-
Amen. So I hope.
-
Your Bibles are, and your notes are with you, are ready with
-
you, because we are ready to give you the scriptures that we
-
are about to read, yes, which are all going to be from the
-
book of John From John. So here are the chapters and the
-
verses chapter 14, verse six, chapter 5, verse 24, chapter 3,
-
verse one to seven and chapter 3 from verses 16 to 18.
-
Chapter 3, verses 35 and 36. And the last one is chapter one
-
from verses 10 to 13. Yes, that's right.
-
So all are available in the show notes if you just missed that,
-
or in the video if you're watching this.
-
So feel free to also prepare your Bibles if you want with
-
your preferred translation or versions.
-
So Are you ready to discover more about Christ today?
-
Of course we sure are. I think we are all ready.
-
We won't. Delay any further.
-
Now let's read. The first one is John 14.
-
Six. Jesus answered, I am the way and
-
the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father
-
except through. Me next is John 524 Very truly I
-
tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has
-
eternal life and will not be judged, but has crossed over
-
from from death. To life, yes.
-
So next John three chapter one to verse 8.
-
Okay. So now there was a farisy a man
-
named Nicodemos who was a member of the Jewish ruling council.
-
He came to Jesus at night and said, Rabbi, we know that you
-
are a teacher who has come from God, for no one could perform
-
the signs you are doing if God were not with him.
-
Jesus replied. Very truly I tell you, no one
-
can see the Kingdom of God unless they are born again.
-
So Nicodemus said, How can someone be born when they are
-
old? Nicodemus asked.
-
Yeah, surely they cannot enter a second time to their mother's
-
room to be born, Jesus answered. Very truly, I tell you, no one
-
can enter the Kingdom of God unless they are born of water
-
and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but
-
the Spirit gives birth the Spirit.
-
So you should not be surprised at my saying you must be born
-
again. The wind blows wherever it
-
pleases. You hear it sound, but you
-
cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going.
-
So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.
-
Next verse is John 316 to 18 for God soul of the world, that he
-
gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall
-
not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send
-
his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save
-
the world through him. Yes, whoever believes in him is
-
not condemned. But whoever does not believe
-
stands condemned already. Yeah, because they have not
-
believed in the name of God's one and only Son.
-
So next John chapter 3 verses 35 to 36.
-
The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands.
-
Whoever believes in the sun has eternal life, but whoever
-
rejects the sun will not see life, for God's wrath remains on
-
them. Yes, And now the last passage of
-
Scripture. It's John 1 to 10.
-
Versus until until 13, yes. So he was in the world, and the
-
world was with was made through him.
-
Yet the world did not know him. He came to his own, and his own
-
people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him,
-
who believe in his name, he gave the right to become children of
-
God. Amen.
-
Who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of
-
the will of man, but of God. So that's it for our scripture
-
reading time. And now it's time for us to have
-
some time to discuss regarding what does these passages of
-
Scripture teach us about? Yeah, teach us about.
-
Exactly. That's right.
-
So here we are. We're going to discuss.
-
First, I'd like to start off with this.
-
It already established by the Bible that Jesus is not an
-
option. To have eternal life, yes, but
-
that he is the only way to heaven.
-
Which we hope it's very obvious as we are all reading this
-
together. The Scriptures, and you can
-
probably also tell that we're not even making that up because
-
it already is in the Bible. We just read about it.
-
And who do you think said those very words?
-
Capital. It's.
-
Jesus himself. Yes, Jesus Christ, the Savior
-
said those very words, the way, the truth, and the life himself.
-
Yes, the it's it's in red letters, right?
-
Yeah. If some of you who own a Bible
-
who has red letters, that means Jesus himself said that.
-
And it also implies that access in heaven is made possible only
-
through Him through Jesus Christ.
-
Meaning it's not through anything or anyone else other
-
than. Jesus, yeah.
-
And I think it's most important to put some emphasis.
-
Yes, we want to emphasize that because it is one of the most
-
known Bible verses that point out to the very essentials of
-
the Christian faith. Yes, but it is also something
-
else. And we're going to talk about
-
that a little bit deeper. Uh huh.
-
Today in that same subject. So Jesus is the only way that
-
means there is no other in no. In no way the Bible point to
-
religious sex or any community in order to obtain eternal life.
-
Yeah, not all. In fact, if anything, the Bible
-
is against anything that man claims to be the answer to or
-
the alternate to eternal life and salvation.
-
And we are all aware that many people are already, you know.
-
If if you would ask people, are you safe?
-
Yes, I go to church. The answer, But it's not really
-
the right answer for it. Yeah, in no way the Bible, you
-
know, point to anything else other than Jesus.
-
Yes, it only puts the spotlight on Jesus alone because he is the
-
very sole answer to that very concern, salvation.
-
So do you agree with that? Amen.
-
Yeah, we can all read that, obviously.
-
Also, I want to point out something that eternal life will
-
require obedience to Jesus and faith in God.
-
Yes, so, so that's very true and it that is based on John 5/24.
-
Yeah, we have. We have to do our part, yeah.
-
Yeah. We believe and obey also we
-
obey, which I have. I have something to say about
-
that. Also that the eternal life
-
mentioned here may not be the life that we are currently
-
experiencing at this very moment, if in fact this life is,
-
you know, human. We're still immortals, we're
-
still flesh. So that's that's not the eternal
-
life. But what do you think that is
-
portraying? Yeah.
-
Yes, eternal life that was mentioned in John 5 is a life
-
that we are going to experience someday, yes.
-
In the afterlife? Oh yes, exactly.
-
Also mentioned that to those who do obey the teachings of Jesus
-
and to those who believe in God will not be judged.
-
Yes, this talks about being judged because of sin, because
-
as we already talked about in the previous topics we had, we
-
are. All sinful beings, yeah, since
-
from the very beginning we know how God hates sin, but it is
-
because of Jesus, and only through him that we can escape
-
judgment or eternal death. So if there is an eternal life,
-
there is. There's also eternal death.
-
Oh yes, I have. No in between, Yes.
-
There is no in between. Nowhere.
-
The Bible, you know, yeah, tells that.
-
And we can all see why the scriptures point to Jesus this
-
very way. They put emphasis on that.
-
It's also a good that one of our readings today is John 316.
-
Yeah, which most of you, if not all, are probably already aware
-
of. But it is a very well known
-
scripture for a very good reason.
-
You know why? Because John 316 is the most
-
popular verse of the Bible. Because it's it's simply
-
presents the gospel in an very oversimplified way.
-
Yes, and in that verse. Yeah, imagine that in one verse
-
the gospel is already explained in a nutshell, so it already
-
speaks for itself. The action word believe is
-
emphasized all over again. We can all see with our very own
-
eyes that the Bible is showing the importance of believing in
-
Christ. So it's faith, and it is the
-
only way to get eternal life, to have faith only in Jesus Christ
-
alone. But however, there is also the
-
bad news, as we already read in some of the verses we've read
-
recently. And the bad news applies to
-
those who will turn away with with knowing this truth.
-
They and reject what the Bible says by not believing.
-
So the opposite of believing is not believing.
-
And unfortunately, you know God's wrath remain on them To
-
those who do not believe because you know why the forgiveness of
-
sins then? This is taught by the Bible very
-
clearly. Amen.
-
Forgiveness of sins is only made possible through Jesus Christ.
-
So I hope by that we will all make that decision to be here.
-
Yeah, or maybe at least give it some thought and be open to
-
receive the truth. The Bible is speaking to us.
-
Yes. Amen.
-
It's also amazing, actually. That in John 3 Jesus already
-
performed supernatural science, which proves all the more that
-
he is God. That's right.
-
And the attention of a certain Pharisee named Ecodemus was
-
caught there in John Three. We can all see that.
-
And you have to remember that the Pharisees in the Bible in
-
general, as we have read before in the previous episodes, these
-
were the same people that were against Jesus and everything he
-
preached about. They were the haters of the of
-
that time. But Nicodemus decided to check
-
out Jesus for himself, so he went at night so no one can see
-
him and met him in person. And Jesus gave him something
-
worthy to think about, and that is being born again.
-
Yeah, being born again. So it's not a religion.
-
Yeah, it is not a. Religion in the Bible.
-
We have read it earlier, yes. As to how most people would
-
probably understand, yes. But it is the state of being
-
found in Jesus. Yes, according to the Bible, As
-
we said earlier, being born again is mandatory in order to
-
get to heaven. Yes, it's basically a
-
requirement prerequisite. You can't go to heaven if you're
-
not born again. Yeah, without being born again.
-
Yeah, okay. And with this truth, in the last
-
verses that we can read, some people will respond by believing
-
and receiving Jesus, you know, like Nicodemus did.
-
But unfortunately, some people are not.
-
Expected to do the same. In fact, they will reject him
-
some. It's very sad also that some are
-
already living a life that shows their rejection to the Lordship
-
of Christ. Yeah, but to those who will make
-
that decision to respond by receiving Him are part of God's
-
family. Yeah.
-
Are born of water and spirit. Yes, those who respond will be
-
given the right to be God's children.
-
Amen. And that's something we we
-
probably took our time to discuss.
-
What did we learn with the scriptures that we just read?
-
But we're in this together, so we want to hear from you too,
-
and give you a chance. So what are your thoughts about
-
all of the passage of scriptures we read?
-
Please let us know your thoughts by typing it in the comments
-
below and join in. Don't miss out.
-
Yes, we're excited to know your comments exactly.
-
Right now. Let's proceed to the next
-
question we'll ask ourselves. If God is speaking to you
-
through the scriptures we just read, how would you respond to
-
Him? So I'll go first.
-
I'll. Go first for me.
-
I will take up my identity in God, and that is and that I am
-
his child because I believe, Wow, I will.
-
I think it's my turn now. Okay so.
-
That's a good take, John. Thank you.
-
As for me, I will proclaim that Jesus is the only way to
-
salvation so that people can be born again if they respond.
-
And friends, what is the response you want to do for God
-
today or for this week rather? You know, whatever it is, I do
-
believe that everything we've just talked about today, it all
-
points to One Direction. And what do you think that is?
-
Yeah, and that the only answer to have eternal life with God in
-
heaven is only through Jesus Christ.
-
And our prayer is that you would make that decision to believe in
-
Him and to obey what God's word is teaching us today.
-
So whom will you share what you've learned this week?
-
So I do believe we do all believe that this topic is worth
-
talking about. So why don't you share what
-
you've learned, your family or friends, whoever they are, and
-
don't let them miss out on what the voice of God through the
-
Bible is speaking in our very hearts based on our reading.
-
Reading Yes, about eternal life. Yes, and Amen.
-
Thank you for joining us and that we hope you will join us
-
again next week.
