-
Good morning. Everyone, welcome to this
-
episode of Sunday Live. We are your host and we are very
-
grateful that you are here with us today.
-
Yes, and the title for today's topic is Jesus.
-
Revealing the Trinity to some of you may not be familiar with
-
that term. The word Trinity means Godhead
-
as one God in three persons. So that's namely the Father, the
-
the Son and Holy Spirit. So some would say that this
-
topic is, yeah, somewhat hard to understand to a degree.
-
But yeah, you know what? That's OK, because that's what
-
that's what we're here for. We're in this together, all
-
right? Yes, yes, yes.
-
Although we will not be spoon feeding you, but rather we're
-
going to let the word of God speak itself to us.
-
Yes, absolutely. So as we've said before, and I'm
-
gonna say it again, let's allow scripture interpret itself
-
today. So while we ready ourselves to
-
do that, why don't you ready also your notes as well?
-
Because I'm about to give you a list of Bible verses that we're
-
going to read together. So if you're ready, it's
-
Deuteronomy chapter 6, verse four, Genesis chapter one, verse
Deuteronomy 6 chapter mention
-
26. First Thessalonians chapter 5,
-
verse 23. Matthew chapter 3 from verse 16
Matthew 3 chapter mention
-
to 17. Second Peter chapter one verses
-
16 to 18 John chapter 3 verses 16 and 17.
-
John chapter 5 from verse 17 to 30 John chapter 15 verses 26 to
John 5 chapter mention John 15:26–27
-
27. Matthew chapter 26 verse 39 John
Matthew 26:39 John 17 chapter mention
-
chapter 17 from verse 1 to 9 Hebrews chapter one verses one
-
to three and finally Hebrews chapter one verses 8 to 10.
-
Wow, that is definitely a long list of verses right there.
-
But don't worry, because you can see on the description or show
-
notes below that there is a PDF that will serve as your guide if
-
you don't have a Bible with you, but also for your convenience of
-
course. Bible hyperlinks are also
-
available, yes. So why don't you tap those?
-
It will take you to the Bible app directly.
-
But before we begin though, let's not forget that our hearts
-
should also be ready to receive today's words.
-
So yes, wherever you are, that's all be in the attitude of prayer
-
right now. So Father, we thank you for this
-
time, that as we dive into your word today, may you help us not
-
only understand scriptures more, but that may you reveal your
-
character through a revelation today.
-
Lord, Lord, so Lord, we thank you and we glorify you.
-
All this we ask in Jesus name we pray.
-
Amen. Amen.
-
Wow. So why don't you start with our
-
very first passage for you, John?
-
OK, so Deuteronomy 6/4 here, O Israel, the Lord our God the
-
Lord is 1. And for our second passage we
-
have from Genesis chapter one, verse 26.
-
Then God said, let us make mankind in our image, in our
-
likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the
-
birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild
-
animals and over all the creatures that move along the
-
ground. Yes.
-
So next first Thessalonians chapter 5, verse 23.
-
May God, Himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and
-
through. May your whole spirit, soul and
-
body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
-
Wow. Next passage we have from
-
Matthew chapter 3 starting from verse 16.
Matthew 3 chapter mention
-
Yes, as soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the
-
water at that moment. Heaven was opened and he saw the
-
Spirit of God descending like a dove and a lighting on him.
-
Verse 17 And a voice from heaven said, this is my son whom I love
-
with him. I am well pleased.
-
Alright, so second Peter, chapter one starting in verse
-
16. For we did not follow cleverly
-
devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord
-
Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of His
-
Majesty. So he received honor and glory
-
from God the Father. When the voice came to him from
-
the majestic glory, saying, This is my Son whom I love with him,
-
I am well pleased. We ourselves heard this voice
-
that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred
-
mountain. Wow.
-
Another passage we have also is from John chapter 3, starting
John 3 chapter mention
-
from verse 16. It says there for God so loved
-
the world, that he gave his only his one and only Son, that
-
whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal
-
life. And verse 17.
-
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the
-
world, but to save the world through him.
-
All right, Next up is John chapter 5 starting in verse 17.
John 5 chapter mention
-
In his defense, Jesus said to them, my father is always at his
-
work to this very day and I too am working.
-
For this reason they tried all the more to kill him.
-
Not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling
-
God his Father, making himself equal with God.
-
So Jesus gave them this answer very truly.
-
I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself.
-
He can do only what he sees his Father doing.
-
Because whatever the Father does, the Son also does.
-
For the Father loves the Son and shows him all He does.
-
Yes, and He will show him even greater works than these, so
-
that you will be amazed. For just as the Father raises
-
the dead and gives them life, Even so the Son gives life to
-
whom he is pleased to give it. Moreover, the Father judges no
-
one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, that all
-
may honor the Son as they honor the Father.
-
Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who
-
who sent him. So very truly I tell you,
-
whoever hears my word and believes him who sent Me has
-
eternal life and will not be judged, but has crossed over
-
from death to life. So very truly I tell you, a time
-
is coming and has now come, when the dead will hear the voice of
-
the Son of God. And those who will hear, those
-
who hear will live. For as the Father has life in
-
himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in
-
himself, and he has given him authority to judge because he is
-
the Son of Man. Do not be amazed at this for a
-
time is coming where all who are in their graves will hear his
-
voice and come out. Those who have done what is
-
good, what is good, will rise to live, and those who have done
-
what is evil will rise to be condemned.
-
But by myself I can do nothing. I judge only as I hear, and my
-
judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself, but him who
-
sent me. Wow, that's a very long time
-
situation, yeah, Jesus said. That.
-
Yeah, it's Jesus word, but it's very powerful and we're going to
-
get to that later, yeah. We'll discuss that later.
-
Don't. I hope you're not overwhelmed
-
yet. Yeah, please pay attention.
-
Please stay with us now we're going to our next passage, which
-
is from John chapter 15, starting with verse 26, when the
John 15 chapter mention
-
Advocate comes whom I will send to you from the Father, the
-
Spirit of Truth, who goes out from the Father, he will testify
-
about me. And you also must testify, for
-
you have been with me from the beginning.
-
So Next up is Matthew 26, starting in verse 39, going a
-
little farther, he felt with his face to the ground, and create
-
my father, if it's possible. May this cop be taken from me
-
yet, not as I will, but as you will.
-
Alright, now for the next passage which is you can found
-
from chapter from from the book of John, chapter 17 starting
John 17 chapter mention
-
with verse one. After Jesus said this, he looked
-
toward heaven and prayed. Father, the horrors come.
-
Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you.
-
For you granted him authority over all the people, that he
-
might give eternal life to all those you have given him.
-
Now this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true
-
God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
-
I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you
-
gave me to do. And now, Father.
-
Glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before
-
the world began. I have revealed you to those
-
whom you gave me out of the world.
-
They were yours. You gave them to me, and they
-
have obeyed your word. Now they know that everything
-
you have given me comes from you.
-
For I gave them the words you have you gave me, and they
-
accepted them. They knew with certainty that I
-
came from you, and they believe that you sent me.
-
I pray for them. I am not praying for the world,
-
but for those you have given me, for they are yours.
-
All right. Next is Hebrews chapter one
-
starting first one. In the past God spoke to our
-
ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various
-
ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son,
-
whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he
-
made the universe. The sun is the radiance of God's
-
glory, and the exact representation of his being,
-
sustaining all things by his powerful word.
-
So after he had provided purification, for since he sat
-
down at the right hand of the majesty in heaven.
-
Now skipping to verses 8 to 10, but about the sun, he says.
-
Your throne, oh God, will last forever and ever.
-
A scepter of justice will be the scepter of your Kingdom.
-
You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness.
-
Therefore God, even your God, has set you above your
-
companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.
-
He also says in the beginning, Lord, you lay the foundations of
-
the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.
-
So wow. There you go.
-
I think I'm finished with the verses.
-
Yes, that's all of the verses for this episode.
-
So thank you for reading along with us.
-
See you next week. No, no, we're not done yet, so.
-
Yeah, but as always, he would recommend for you to, you know,
-
reread, read it again and again and again until you get
-
something out of it. Because why not, right?
-
Yeah, Yeah. So also that way you can get
-
most of what you've just read. And this is also a healthy way
-
of treating scripture. But if you're up for it and
-
you're ready, we can now proceed to discuss what does this
-
passage teach us about It's learning time.
-
Here we go. So as the title already
-
suggests, all of the verses talk about the Trinity.
-
And this is because in order, you know, for us to discover
-
Christ, we should get to know more about him.
-
And you know him being related to God is just, you know, just
-
one of how we can get to know Him more.
-
Let's put it that way, yes. Yes, as you can already tell by
-
now, we are currently in the Discovering Christ series, and
-
our last series was called Discovering God.
-
So if you're just just letting you know if you're following us.
-
Just because you are in discovering Christ doesn't make
-
Jesus not being part of God. If anything, the verses that
-
we've read just now and the previous episodes we already did
-
proves that he is God after all, Yes, he is God and that's
-
already a learning and it's a very good one if you didn't
-
realize. So that is one of the very
-
characteristics of God, Him being God, yes.
-
Yeah. Jesus being God, yes.
-
So, which is why it's essential to talk about what we've learned
-
so far in the verses we've just read.
-
There's a lot of them, and we're gonna do that right now.
-
So I want to start off with the fact that we just read one of
-
the most well known and popular verses of the Bible.
-
And do you know what that is? I think you have already a clue
-
guys. It's from John chapter 3, verse
-
16. Yes, that's the one in that
-
verse. It says that God loves the
-
world. That's you and me that he gave
-
his Son, so his only son. We we can take note that the the
-
word Son was mentioned. So it just makes sense that God
-
is a Father. Right, True.
-
True, true. And he is a very loving one.
-
Yeah, he is. So God is well pleased with his
-
begotten his only son. Yes, we've read that when Jesus
-
was baptized and then a glorious scene took place, and then an
-
audible voice from heaven was heard saying, this is my son
-
whom I love with him I. Am well pleased.
-
Well pleased. Yes that's there was even a a a
-
witness account to this you know as we've read in second Peter
-
chapter one. But you know we have also read
-
in John something there were there were some people namely
-
the Jews. Yeah they didn't take Jesus
-
seriously. As a matter of fact, they wanted
-
to to kill him because they thought it was blasphemy that
-
Jesus was making himself equal with God because he was even
-
calling. It was a very huge issue that he
-
was even calling God his own father.
-
Yeah, when they heard that, they were very triggered.
-
Yes, what, despite all that Jesus have done.
-
They had no idea that he is Co equal with God.
-
Yes, he is Co equal with God. But I do like what Jesus said in
-
the John 5 passage and is alone. Oh yeah, John, Chapter 5.
John 5 chapter mention
-
Powerful phrases from Christ himself.
-
You can read it again later if you want, but overall it shows
-
how tight his relationship with God the Father is.
-
Oh, super tight. So like you can say it's.
-
Admirable kind of relationship. Yeah, so.
-
Super intimate. If you read the passage again,
-
it's like like father, like son, basically.
-
But it's not in the Godhead. It's not just the Father and the
-
Son that are working together, as we can read in John John 15,
-
but it's also the Advocate, so it the Holy Spirit.
-
Yes and yeah. And he comes into play by being
-
a witness, by testifying about Jesus to a person.
-
Amen. Amen.
-
So we can we. You can read that again if you
-
want. But maybe my wife Karina wants
-
to say something. Yes, and actually in in John
John 17 chapter mention
-
chapter 17 we can learn a lot of highlights.
-
So one is this highlights that it highlights the significance
-
of a personal relationship with God through Jesus as the means
-
to eternal life. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
-
So it mentioned there we remember we already talked about
-
eternal life. So this is where it comes to
-
play. You cannot get eternal life
-
without believing in God. Be Jesus.
-
Yes, in what Jesus has done. Yes, and you cannot be.
-
You cannot inherit eternal life without those prerequisites.
-
So take note of that. We're going to link a link
-
somewhere above us if you're watching on YouTube on our
-
eternal life episode. Also in John 17, you can take
-
note that Jesus prayed for his disciples.
-
So it's I think it's highlighting the importance of
-
prayer and you can probably imagine how important that is
-
because the the Savior himself came into human beings to human
-
form. And then I think he's setting an
-
example. Yes, prayer that's true.
-
That's true. I think that's what I'm I'm
-
trying to point out prayer. Yeah, prayer is important.
-
It is. Now I think also I also want to
-
add on. That I think this is from John
John 17 chapter mention
-
chapter 17, that he just glorified God through obedience
-
to finishing the work. Yeah, the work.
-
Through the time that, I mean, it's about his death and his
-
resurrection, yes, so. So obedience.
-
Yeah, he was very obedient. You can we can all all read that
-
recently that we if take this cup away from me.
-
But yeah, if it's but not as I will but yours.
-
It's still the Lord's will that that he wants to be followed.
-
He still has this willingness despite how severe he knows he
-
he he must have known that it's very severe that he's going to
-
go through, but despite all that, that you will be done.
-
That's basically what he's saying.
-
Surrender and obedience? Yes, never surrendered to his
-
work. That's His death and ultimately
-
his resurrection afterwards. So that's very good.
-
In Hebrews chapter one, it's revealed that Jesus coexisted
-
with God the Father since the beginning.
-
So you remember, in creation, Jesus was there.
-
And you think we've already. Yeah.
-
Talk about that in many episodes before.
-
Yes. Jesus already existed.
-
I think it's an episode where Kuya Vidal was one of the.
-
Host Yes, I can remember that we mentioned John Chapter One.
-
In the beginning, there was a Word.
-
The Word was a God and the Word was God.
-
That's right. That's right.
-
And you can also click that on the top if you're watching
-
YouTube. And one of my learnings is that
-
he is also collective one. And let me explain that
-
collective one. You know, Hero Israel, the Lord
-
our God is 1 if you know your Hebrew.
-
I didn't study Hebrew, but I know some, I know some very
-
basic words. This was originally written in
-
Hebrew. And the word for one, there it
-
was. It's it.
-
The meaning of that word is collective 1, so that the word
-
is a God. That's how they pronounce it.
-
It's like a collection of How do you, how do you explain that?
-
Like, all right, let me give you an example of that.
-
Collective one. Collective one.
-
Husband and wife like me and her.
-
So we're two separate beings. But we are.
-
Since we're married, we should function as one.
-
We're united as one. Yeah.
-
So we're Mr. and Mrs. Valdez. That's that's two individuals,
-
right? But one, Yes.
-
So kind of like that. I know.
-
It's a very mysterious thing. Very maybe complex.
-
Very complex. It has its own complexity.
-
But you know what? We would like to encourage you
-
to not let this hinder you from receiving the truth of His word.
-
Yes. Instead, may this bless you and
-
encourage you to get to know more of God's nature.
-
Because we do believe that God interrupts with human beings
-
like you and I, and we can fully appreciate the truth by reading
-
and studying His Word. Absolutely, absolutely.
-
So you know, because while we can all try and learn to the
-
absolute limits of our human capacity.
-
We still cannot fully understand God because after all, we're
-
just people. And you know, he's God.
-
Yeah, but maybe we'd like to end the discussion part with this.
-
So he is God and we are not. Simple, right?
-
He is God and we are not. We may not be able to know
-
everything, but we can still know God for who he is.
-
He is a loving father who loves you and I so much that.
-
He would give his only Son Jesus Christ, who is by the way, he's
-
also God. Yes, he and and Jesus.
-
You know he sent Jesus to die for the sins of the world and
-
rise up from the dead, thus proving that he is God after
-
all. And when he ascended, the Holy
-
Spirit is revealing the truth of who Jesus is.
-
And now, because we now believe. We are expected to share these
-
truths with others through the help of this advocate.
-
And you know, you know who that is.
-
It's the Holy Spirit. Amen.
-
All right, So did you learn something new?
-
We Were you reminded of something with the verses?
-
Is this the first time you've encountered a Hebrew world like
-
I could? I cannot even mention that.
-
Either way, please let us know in the comments.
-
Whatever it is, whatever that you've learned, we really want
-
to hear. You really want to read your
-
your comment, your lessons, and, you know, just interact with us.
-
Yeah, what's on your heart? Let us know.
-
Yeah, or in the comments or on the prompt below 5 them guys.
-
Yeah. And would like to hear from you.
-
And we're sure that we're not the only ones who wants to hear
-
from you, but the others who are streaming this to.
-
That's right. And if you can summarize UH-1
-
sentence for your learning, I think that would be very very
-
nice. You would really appreciate.
-
That yes, it's more so. Make it simple, yeah?
-
And now for the part where we all internalize for a bit, uh,
-
and think about how we can all apply well what we've learned
-
today. So the question is, if God is
-
speaking to you, to the scriptures we just read, how
-
would you respond to him? Why don't you write down your
-
answers below? Or on your notes.
-
So don't be shy because we are going to share ours too right
-
now. Isn't that right, love?
-
That's right. That's right.
-
Still thinking about my I will though.
-
OK, so I would like to start it. OK, go on my I will would be.
-
I will not make I I mean I will make it my goal to not entertain
-
sin in my life. Because I know, although I know
-
I'm not perfect, but I have to remember that we have to be
-
blameless by loving righteousness and hating any
-
form of wickedness in my life. I know, I know it would.
-
It really sounds easy to say. It really sounds, you know, very
-
easy to declare and and and vow to.
-
Easier said than done, yes. But it's so hard it's it would
-
be. I know it would be so hard to do
-
it, but that's the challenge. As it would.
-
I know it's worth it. It's definitely worth it if we
-
do the right thing. And guess who also hates
-
wickedness and loves righteousness?
-
That's Jesus. Yes, that's God.
-
So, OK, it's my turn, right? Yes.
-
All right, so that's good. So resisting sin.
-
I like it. So knowing how my I will is
-
knowing how Jesus Christ in alignment with God the Father.
-
Yes, I will aim to be like that, close to my Heavenly Father, and
-
I can do that by seeking God's guidance in my life.
-
So that's my I will, I will pray more.
-
I would read the Bible more. I would study his word for me.
-
So that's my I will. Wow, it's so personal.
-
It's so nice. Now, friends, to those of you
-
who are listening to the sound of our voice, how would you
-
apply what you've learned today but leave it to you to
-
contemplate and write them down on the prompt or on the comments
-
section below? Yes.
-
So, all right, we want to thank you for the time you've taken to
-
be with us in learning or rather.
-
Discovering more about Jesus Christ today?
-
Yes, And even before this episode ends, we want you to be
-
motivated to further search the scriptures for yourself.
-
And not just read it every Sunday, but daily, but daily.
-
Every day. Every day.
-
Every day. Amen.
-
Amen. Amen.
-
So really, we appreciate you guys tuning in and you know,
-
sharing this with your family. Or your friends, you know, just
-
being a blessing to everyone around you, even if it means
-
yeah, So God bless you.
