You Shall Not Murder

[SPEAKER_00]: We are continuing our Sermon series through the 10th Amendment, and who can tell me what command that we should be on?

[SPEAKER_00]: The sixth commandment.

[SPEAKER_00]: And does anybody know what the sixth commandment is?

[SPEAKER_00]: Up top of their head?

[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.

[SPEAKER_00]: You shall not murder.

[SPEAKER_00]: Very good.

[SPEAKER_00]: Very good.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, yes.

[SPEAKER_00]: Turn up Matthew chapter five.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's where we'll be spending most of our time.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's a quick summary.

[SPEAKER_00]: All right.

[SPEAKER_00]: Voice it should be off.

[SPEAKER_00]: Let's listen up.

[SPEAKER_00]: You can turn their sign on it.

[SPEAKER_00]: As a quick summary, we learned that the law of God is holy, right, and good.

[SPEAKER_00]: It is a reflection of God's character and Christians we ought to delight in obeying God's law.

[SPEAKER_00]: Why?

[SPEAKER_00]: Because he brought us out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

[SPEAKER_00]: and the wrath of God for our sins.

[SPEAKER_00]: But God sent forth his son, Jesus, who fulfilled the law perfectly in our place, he obeyed it perfectly, took the curses of the law on himself and gave us the blessings of the law who received him by faith and because of that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Because he's delivered us from us and we delight to obey his law.

[SPEAKER_00]: The law we learn is a mirror.

[SPEAKER_00]: We look into the mirror of God's law that shows us our infirmities, that shows us our sin.

[SPEAKER_00]: And when we see our sin and how we fail to omega's law, it leads us to repentance.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then it leads us to look away from ourselves and to the Savior Jesus Christ.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then remember the very first serve in the law is a mirror that reveals, it's a, it's a leach with restrained sin.

[SPEAKER_00]: And the law is a map, which guides the Christian into obedience.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, the law that we get to look at tonight for both conviction of our sin and joyful obedience is the sixth commandant, you shall not murder, without being sent, let's turn to Lord and prayer and ask His help.

[SPEAKER_00]: Dear Father, we thank you that you are the god of life, that you made us in your own image.

[SPEAKER_00]: I pray that you would give these junior hires eyes to

[SPEAKER_00]: that the Word of God would be like a good seed, falling on a good soil, bearing much fruit, that you would eliminate all distractions in that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Satan is going to seek to devour the seed of the Word before even lands on ears.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I pray that you would subdue him and that you would open and soften hearts to receive your word with joy.

[SPEAKER_00]: And Jesus name, amen, amen, amen.

[SPEAKER_00]: All right.

[SPEAKER_00]: Fiatord, Dostoyevsky, can you try to say that last name?

[SPEAKER_00]: Dostoyevsky?

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't even know if I pronounce anything that right.

[SPEAKER_00]: But he wrote an amazing book, I'm reading it currently right now, called Pride and Punishment.

[SPEAKER_00]: And in it, it's tracing this main character whose name is Rastalikov.

[SPEAKER_00]: Very Russian, he's a Russian novelist.

[SPEAKER_00]: Rastalikov.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he, Rostellin got this main character, he used to be a law student, and then he dropped out of law school, and his life is pretty much falling apart.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's living away from his mom and sister, he doesn't know his dad, and he's living in complete poverty, just completely lost in life.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he is in, trying to make money and he's in debt to this land lady.

[SPEAKER_00]: And nobody really likes this land lady.

[SPEAKER_00]: She is very harsh and mean and she also doesn't have anything when she just has a step sister, but we're scoundic all over time is hardening as hard.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he has thoughts of hatred and bitterness and anger towards this lady, that when he goes to, she's demanding that he pays his debt, but he doesn't have some money to do it, so he tries to bring in watches and any jewelry he can find to sell it, but the lady won't buy it from him, and so he begins to grow more and more angry.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then he hears that nobody in the town really likes this lady.

[SPEAKER_00]: And everybody begins to think and believe that she would be better off if she just didn't

[SPEAKER_00]: that if all the money she was keeping to herself, it would actually be better for society if she died, and that all of her wealth could be divided among everybody else, and it would make society all the better.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so, Praskanikov begins to have these thoughts of anger and hatred, and then one day brings himself to murder.

[SPEAKER_00]: to murder her and then her step sister unexpectedly walks in onto the crime scene and so then he murders her step sister as well and then he the whole rest of the book is wrestling with his guilt he's like how did I do that?

[SPEAKER_00]: I part of me wanted to obviously because I did it but how did I get myself?

[SPEAKER_00]: How can my evil and wicked heart get myself to conceive to do such a great thing?

[SPEAKER_00]: But what you see so clearly

[SPEAKER_00]: in the book is that murder with his hands began with murder in his heart.

[SPEAKER_00]: Before he murdered her with his hands he had already set in his heart that he had murdered her.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to see in the sixth commandment today that murder goes far beyond just the act of physically killing somebody.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, oftentimes I'm gonna let you but when I'm reading a thinking through the 10 commandments it's easy to be like, oh Worship all God and don't have any idols.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm okay at that sometimes I worship other things or Under your father mother, yeah, sometimes I I fail in that and I need definitely disobey or Do not steal you guys can think of it times or oh, I broke in that command and I've stolen but then you get to the command and do not murder You're like at least I got one down, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm never murdered.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm good here

[SPEAKER_00]: or to see is that the command, you shall never go as far deeper than just physically murdering someone.

[SPEAKER_00]: That God views murder as not only an outward action, but an inward action of the heart.

[SPEAKER_00]: And that not only does this command for bits something, it also commands something positively that we are to do the opposite of murder towards our neighbor

[SPEAKER_00]: So, before we get into the two main points, I'll overview them, because it kind of gives like the landscape of what we're diving into.

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you guys need to see with all of the 10 to minutes, they do one of two things, okay?

[SPEAKER_00]: They either negatively forbid something or positively command something.

[SPEAKER_00]: The command, you shall not murder, I'm going to ask you, respond to me, is that forbidding something negatively forbidding something or is that positively commanding something?

[SPEAKER_00]: Tell me.

[SPEAKER_00]: Negatively forbidding something, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: You shall not murder, that is God saying he's forbidding it, don't do this.

[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, what about Christ summarizing the law in this?

[SPEAKER_00]: He says, you shall love the Lord your God for your heart, soul, mind, strength.

[SPEAKER_00]: Is that forbidding something or positively commanding something?

[SPEAKER_00]: That's right, positively commanding something.

[SPEAKER_00]: But in every law, it needs, even though it's forbidden, you shall not murder, just like a battery, there's a positive side and a negative side to the law.

[SPEAKER_00]: And to fully obey God and to give Him the glory that He deserves, and to fully obey these commands.

[SPEAKER_00]: We need to understand what is the negative, what is forbidden in the law, and what is positively commanded.

[SPEAKER_00]: So in this text, you shall number it's clear, pretty obvious, that that is what is forbidden.

[SPEAKER_00]: What is forbidden is, don't work.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now, what is positively commanded in that?

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, we have to think, what's the opposite of murder?

[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody take a shot at it.

[SPEAKER_00]: What would be the opposite of murder, yes?

[SPEAKER_00]: Loving somebody in Carreyville?

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, loving someone, carry for them, bringing, giving life and protecting and providing for others around you?

[SPEAKER_00]: So that's going to be kind of the overview of the two main points.

[SPEAKER_00]: The first point if you're taking notes is going to be

[SPEAKER_00]: What is negatively forbidden in the command you show number?

[SPEAKER_00]: What number one, what is negatively forbidden?

[SPEAKER_00]: And then a second point is going to be what is positively commanded.

[SPEAKER_00]: So what number one, what is negatively forbidden?

[SPEAKER_00]: Point number two, what is positively commanded?

[SPEAKER_00]: Let's look at point number one.

[SPEAKER_00]: What is negatively forbidden?

[SPEAKER_00]: that is negatively forbidden in this command is murder of the hands.

[SPEAKER_00]: Can you guys raise your hands up?

[SPEAKER_00]: Show me your hands.

[SPEAKER_00]: Very good.

[SPEAKER_00]: You can put them down.

[SPEAKER_00]: The first thing that God forbids in this command is murder of the hands.

[SPEAKER_00]: What does that mean?

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, physical murder.

[SPEAKER_00]: But even the command, physical murder,

[SPEAKER_00]: why does God forbid murder?

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, two reasons.

[SPEAKER_00]: One, it's against the character of God.

[SPEAKER_00]: God is the God of life.

[SPEAKER_00]: He created all things out of nothing.

[SPEAKER_00]: He spoke and created the universe and gives life to all creatures.

[SPEAKER_00]: But not only is murder evil in God's eyes because it goes against the God of life,

[SPEAKER_00]: Murder is so evil in his eyes because man is made in the image of God.

[SPEAKER_00]: Let me say that again.

[SPEAKER_00]: Why does God hate and forbid murder?

[SPEAKER_00]: God hates and forbids murder because man was made in his image.

[SPEAKER_00]: Genesis 9-6, God institutes the death penalty.

[SPEAKER_00]: Where God says if somebody murders another man,

[SPEAKER_00]: That man, the murderer ought to die.

[SPEAKER_00]: A life for a life.

[SPEAKER_00]: Why, isn't it?

[SPEAKER_00]: This, Genesis 96, says, whoever sheds the blood of man, whoever sheds the blood of man, burgers, by man, shall his blood be shed.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then he has the reason why, for God may you man in his own image.

[SPEAKER_00]: Murder is so evil.

[SPEAKER_00]: because it is attacking the image of God.

[SPEAKER_00]: Think about this.

[SPEAKER_00]: God did not image himself, did not create as his image in this world, the trees to be the image of God.

[SPEAKER_00]: As beautiful as they are, the mountains to be the image of God.

[SPEAKER_00]: As beautiful as they are, the ocean to be the image of God.

[SPEAKER_00]: God didn't even create the angels to be the image of God, but He created man to be made in the image of God.

[SPEAKER_00]: Murder is such a great crime in Evelyn God dies because it is harming and destroying the very image of God.

[SPEAKER_00]: So this commandment ought to be taken seriously.

[SPEAKER_00]: But it entails more than just

[SPEAKER_00]: Physically murdering somebody that is the most extreme form of murder and God uses the most extreme form of this command Say you shall not murder to awake us from our sleep, so that when we read it, we're like whoa murder But it includes a lot more than just murder for if light of a heart that command is God's love for his image bears Murder of the hands includes not only killing somebody unlawfully

[SPEAKER_00]: But even harming others physically, or harming yourself physically.

[SPEAKER_00]: So to defy murder the hands, the first part of this law for bids, the unjust harming or taking of your own life, or your neighbor's life, let me say that again.

[SPEAKER_00]: The first part of this law for bids, the unjust, now let me clarify that unjust is the

[SPEAKER_00]: because God is not saying that all killing is wrong.

[SPEAKER_00]: There's a difference between just killing and murder like if somebody breaks into my home and is seeking to kill my wife, the best way that I can obey God is to actually kill the person that walks in because my duty is to love and protect my wife.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's not murder, that's defending, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: But murder is the unjust or a sinful,

[SPEAKER_00]: harming or taking of your own life or harming or taking your neighbor's life.

[SPEAKER_00]: So what are some ways that you as a junior higher have broken this command?

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, hitting your siblings is committing the sin of murder according to the six commandment.

[SPEAKER_00]: Because you are not preserving and building a life, but you are attacking the image of God when you hit or strike or wound your siblings or your parents.

[SPEAKER_00]: Or others.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's murdering God's eyes.

[SPEAKER_00]: God, you're what you're doing to the image of God.

[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody made in God's image that even if you're angry and syndigants instead of having self-control, you lash out in a tack and harm or strike someone made in God's image.

[SPEAKER_00]: Get your higher, getting mad at your siblings and hitting them or punching them is a breaking of the sixth commandment.

[SPEAKER_00]: But not only is murder of the hands forbidden in Matthew chapter 5 that you should be open to, Jesus takes it a step further.

Matthew 5 · chapter mention

[SPEAKER_00]: He says not only is murder of the hands forbidden, but murder of the heart is also

[SPEAKER_00]: forbidden.

[SPEAKER_00]: What is murder of the heart?

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, listen to this, outward murder begins with inward murder.

[SPEAKER_00]: Murder begins in the heart, and moves outwardly to the hands.

[SPEAKER_00]: Just like the illustration I opened up with,

[SPEAKER_00]: resolved to murder in his heart, and so it is with us.

[SPEAKER_00]: Listen to Matthew chapter 5, looking at verse 21, hear the words of Jesus.

Matthew 5 · chapter mention

[SPEAKER_00]: He says this, you have heard that it was said to those of the old, speaking of Exodus 20, 13, and the tech amendments, you have heard that it was said, you shall not murder, and whoever murderers will be liable to judgment, but I say to you.

[SPEAKER_00]: that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment.

[SPEAKER_00]: Whoever insults his brother will be liable to the counsel and whoever says you fool will be liable to the hell of fire.

[SPEAKER_00]: So if you're offering your gift at the altar and they remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go first.

[SPEAKER_00]: be reconciled to your brother and then come and offer your gift.

[SPEAKER_00]: Come to terms quickly with your accuser while you are going with him to court, less your accuser hand you over to the judge and the judge to the guard and you will be put in prison.

[SPEAKER_00]: Truly I say to you, you will never get out until you have paid the last penny.

[SPEAKER_00]: Do you guys see the significance of what Jesus is saying here?

[SPEAKER_00]: He says that not only is murder with the hands forbidden but murder of the heart is forbidden.

[SPEAKER_00]: that Jesus views unjust anger, wrath, bitterness, insulting others in your heart, cursing others in your heart is murder in God's eyes.

[SPEAKER_00]: Think about this.

[SPEAKER_00]: In earthly King, his jurisdiction

[SPEAKER_00]: thoughts within somebody's mind, or thoughts within somebody's heart, because earthly King can't see into somebody's heart and thoughts.

[SPEAKER_00]: In earthly King can only punish the outward action of a crime, but not King Jesus who made both body and soul.

[SPEAKER_00]: His jurisdiction goes beyond just the outward act, but King Jesus sees the inward act

[SPEAKER_00]: He knows every thought in your mind, every evil thought conceived in your heart, and he finds it wicked.

[SPEAKER_00]: He made the soul, he sees all things, he sees the intent of man, every angry hateful, bitter, and laughful thought.

[SPEAKER_00]: And Jesus says that is murder in God's eyes.

[SPEAKER_00]: and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

[SPEAKER_00]: Junior Higher, dear, years perk up.

[SPEAKER_00]: That should be just to sweat a little.

[SPEAKER_00]: If Jesus used me as a murderer because I've had hateful thoughts because I've cursed my brother or my parents behind their back because I have insulted them.

[SPEAKER_00]: Do you see that?

[SPEAKER_00]: It says whoever,

[SPEAKER_00]: Looks at his brother and says, you fool will be liable to the hell of fire.

[SPEAKER_00]: Whoever insults his brother will be liable to the counsel.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is a serious command that murder is forbidden not only with the hands, but within the heart as well.

[SPEAKER_00]: All of us, all of us are guilty before God of your murder.

[SPEAKER_00]: Do you know that?

[SPEAKER_00]: Do you know that if you stand before God,

[SPEAKER_00]: your murderer.

[SPEAKER_00]: Have you had a simple anger, bitterness, envy, hatred, a desire of revenge towards others in your heart.

[SPEAKER_00]: You've cursed your parents under your breath or in your heart.

[SPEAKER_00]: You've murdered them.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you've cursed your siblings under your breath or in your heart, you've murdered them.

[SPEAKER_00]: You've cursed that boy or girl at school under your breath or in your

[SPEAKER_00]: Because you are jealous of them, or you end them, you have murdered them.

[SPEAKER_00]: You have unjustly insulted, and then angry towards others, and therefore are liable to the judgment of the lake of fire.

[SPEAKER_00]: You have murdered someone made in the image of God in your heart.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you have murdered someone in your heart, you know what you need to do, Jesus says you need to go and resurrect the person that you have murdered.

[SPEAKER_00]: And how do you go and resurrect the person you murdered them?

[SPEAKER_00]: You do so through repetitions.

[SPEAKER_00]: Can you guys say repentance?

[SPEAKER_00]: Repentance.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's what Jesus turned your eyes in point to verse 23 and map you chapter five.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus just gets done explaining that murder is in the heart.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you have murdered someone in your heart, before you lift up your hands at youth group and prays, try to praise God, before you try to participate in singing and hearing a servant and doing all these gifts and sacrifice spiritual sacrifice to God.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Jesus really wants you to do.

[SPEAKER_00]: He wants you to first go to the person that you murder in resurrect and by repenting.

[SPEAKER_00]: He says, leave your gift before the altar and go.

[SPEAKER_00]: First, be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

[SPEAKER_00]: Junior Hype, some of you here, maybe even today, before you can be used to view murder one of your siblings in your heart, or you murder your parents in your heart, and then you come and raise your hands and worship acting like everything's okay.

[SPEAKER_00]: When Jesus says, I despise that sacrifice.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know the sacrifice that delights me, the sacrifice that I want, is for you to not just be a hero of the law,

[SPEAKER_00]: Lift your hands and praise you, but I want you to be a doer of the law.

[SPEAKER_00]: I want you to first go and be reconciled to the one that you've murdered in repent and say, brother, sister, I am sorry for the anger in my heart towards you, for seeking revenge towards you, for hitting you, for lashing out against you, I've murdered you, forgive me.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know what that does?

[SPEAKER_00]: It resurrects them, it brings them back to life.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now, after examining what God forbids in this law,

[SPEAKER_00]: murder the hands and what was the second point murder in the heart.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's two that one more time.

[SPEAKER_00]: The law forbids murder with the hands and murder in the heart.

[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, after exactly what got for bids in the law, we will now look at the opposite side.

[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, what is the opposite of murder?

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's giving life.

[SPEAKER_00]: So what does God positively command?

[SPEAKER_00]: So to truly fulfill this law, it's not enough.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's not enough for us to just say, okay, I'm not gonna physically harm or murder somebody, and I'm gonna try really hard, not to spiritually in my heart murder somebody.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's only half the battle, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: A battery doesn't work if you only have the negative side at play.

[SPEAKER_00]: True, our duty as Christians, what Christ would call us to, is not only not doing the bad thing, but we must replace it and pursue during the positive side.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, what is positively commanded?

[SPEAKER_00]: What is positively commanded?

[SPEAKER_00]: Not only does the sixth command for Big Burger, it also commands that we preserve,

[SPEAKER_00]: and give life to our neighbor.

[SPEAKER_00]: Let me say that again.

[SPEAKER_00]: Not only do the six commandant for being murdered, but it positively commands that we preserve, protect, and give life to our neighbor.

[SPEAKER_00]: It got condense murder.

[SPEAKER_00]: He commands the opposite.

[SPEAKER_00]: And the opposite of the law that the law requires is that we give our neighbors life.

[SPEAKER_00]: all the help we can.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, my sub points are parallel.

[SPEAKER_00]: If what was forbidden is first murder of the hands, what is commanded positively is nurture of the hands.

[SPEAKER_00]: What is forbidden is murder with the hands?

[SPEAKER_00]: What is commanded is nurture of the hands.

[SPEAKER_00]: How many of you guys heard the word nurture?

[SPEAKER_00]: What does it mean to nurture?

[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.

[SPEAKER_00]: Care for.

[SPEAKER_00]: To care for.

[SPEAKER_00]: Right?

[SPEAKER_00]: It's like a gardening term.

[SPEAKER_00]: How many of you guys have your mom has some flowers starting to sprout now in this spring?

[SPEAKER_00]: Some growth, some green is starting to show.

[SPEAKER_00]: Right?

[SPEAKER_00]: How many of you guys have ever worked or weeded a garden or watered a garden or anything happening to do with gardening?

[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of you guys.

[SPEAKER_00]: Very good.

[SPEAKER_00]: Just as a gardener seeks to nurture, preserve, protect,

[SPEAKER_00]: and bring life to their plants.

[SPEAKER_00]: So we ought to nurture preserve, protect, and bring life to those around us.

[SPEAKER_00]: That is what it means to fulfill the command you show them where it means to do the opposite as well.

[SPEAKER_00]: To not matter about the nurture, bring life to those around us.

[SPEAKER_00]: Preserve, protect the lives of those around us.

[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, now we do that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Outwardly, with our hands, just like we can outwardly murder with our hands, so first, we can do that.

[SPEAKER_00]: We can bring life and protect outwardly, nurture with our hands, wear some ways practically for you guys.

[SPEAKER_00]: Okay?

[SPEAKER_00]: These are the further discuss in your small groups.

[SPEAKER_00]: But what are practical ways you, Junior Higher, with where you're at, you can seek to preserve and help the lives and well-being of yourself and your neighbors.

[SPEAKER_00]: first let's look at yourself if what is forbidden is murder to ourselves or harming ourselves what is positively commanded is hearing for ourselves and bringing life to ourselves what do I mean by that well physically even as a junior higher boy and girl you ought to be pursuing a good balance of what you eat what you drink physical exercise

[SPEAKER_00]: sleep, labor which is school for you guys, and recreation.

[SPEAKER_00]: All of those things.

[SPEAKER_00]: You would think that all of this is included in the command to do not murder.

[SPEAKER_00]: Let me explain.

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, if you just eat McDonald's and drink pop every single day, you stay up.

[SPEAKER_00]: Super late, doom scrolling on your phones.

[SPEAKER_00]: Flake up two minutes before you have to go to school.

[SPEAKER_00]: Watch a TV show, rinse wash or repeat, or just constantly pursuing entertainment.

[SPEAKER_00]: Do you know what you're doing?

[SPEAKER_00]: You're breaking the sixth commandment because you're murdering your own body.

[SPEAKER_00]: You're not caring for it, which is a temple.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so that's what's forbidden.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so, junior high or whatnot, you to pursue now to fulfill this command and well, nurture your own body.

[SPEAKER_00]: Try to pursue eating healthy.

[SPEAKER_00]: Try to pursue physical exercise, pursue getting to bed on a good time and waking up at a good time, getting good sleep.

[SPEAKER_00]: Do good labor, which means work hard at your school to exercise your mind so you don't kill your mind and murder your mind.

[SPEAKER_00]: Work outside.

[SPEAKER_00]: and then a balanced view of recreation and fun, okay?

[SPEAKER_00]: So that's how we nurture ourselves, but now how do we nurture others with our hands?

[SPEAKER_00]: Here's another point, defend the weak, defend the weak.

[SPEAKER_00]: If what is forbidden is harming and curting and murdering others, what is possibly commanded, defending others, defending the weak.

[SPEAKER_00]: Defend those who are attacked by others.

[SPEAKER_00]: Stand up for those who are verbally attacked, may fun of, who are physically attacked by others.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you were a bystander, if you're just sitting and watching somebody else just get made fun of and torn down, you know what you're doing?

[SPEAKER_00]: You're taking the side of the murderer.

[SPEAKER_00]: You're taking the side of the murderer and as you see the image of God being attacked and torn down and do nothing about you're taking the side of murder.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, nurture with the hands, step in.

[SPEAKER_00]: are doing that.

[SPEAKER_00]: You are the bully who is verbally attacking others or physically pushing others and things like that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Others of you are encouraging it, taking the side of that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Others of you are more quiet and timid and you think it's okay that as long as I'm not the one doing it, I'm okay but no Christ would have you pushed into more to actually be bold and step in and say,

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to defend the weak because God says you shall not murder and a part of that means to bring life into protect those around me.

[SPEAKER_00]: Stand up for those.

[SPEAKER_00]: Here's another one that relates to our culture, Christian, you ought to hate abortion with everything in you.

[SPEAKER_00]: to defend the weaker, no voice for themselves.

[SPEAKER_00]: To speak boldly against it and not timidly if it's brought up in a conversation or in your schools that you ought to be on the forefront saying these little babies are made in the image of God and cannot defend themselves and so I will defend them and I will not support it and I will speak against it because it is destroying human life,

[SPEAKER_00]: That is destroying the image of God.

[SPEAKER_00]: We ought to stand up against that boldly.

[SPEAKER_00]: And that is the loving thing to do, believe it or not.

[SPEAKER_00]: That is the thing that glorifies God and loves your neighbor.

[SPEAKER_00]: But world will say, oh, you hate me for speaking to God's step.

[SPEAKER_00]: But don't believe that lie.

[SPEAKER_00]: That is actually love of your neighbor in the love of God to stand up against those things.

[SPEAKER_00]: Because what do those things do?

[SPEAKER_00]: They're tearing down the image of God.

[SPEAKER_00]: What's another way that we can nurture with our hands?

[SPEAKER_00]: Serve those in need.

[SPEAKER_00]: Serve those in need.

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you guys are young and strong in your youth.

[SPEAKER_00]: Use that to help those who are physically.

[SPEAKER_00]: Shover your shovel, your elderly neighbors driveway.

[SPEAKER_00]: Cut your elderly neighbors long.

[SPEAKER_00]: Pick up their leaves in the fall.

[SPEAKER_00]: Pick up sticks in their yard.

[SPEAKER_00]: Things like that.

[SPEAKER_00]: fulfilling the command you show on murder because they're actively doing the opposite.

[SPEAKER_00]: You are helping, protecting, preserving the lives of those around you.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, lastly, what is positively commended?

[SPEAKER_00]: First we saw nurture the hands, the next is nurture of the heart.

[SPEAKER_00]: Just as,

[SPEAKER_00]: murder of the heart is forbidden negatively.

[SPEAKER_00]: The opposite of that was minute is nurture of the heart, which means to instead of cursing others in our hearts, we bless others in our hearts and pray for others in our hearts.

[SPEAKER_00]: Instead of being angry, in jealous, in

[SPEAKER_00]: And participating in their sin, nurture the heart means to oppose sin, oppose sin and hold one another accountable for their sin.

[SPEAKER_00]: Here is a way that you, junior higher, can fulfill the command you shall not murder by nurturing with your heart.

[SPEAKER_00]: When someone is in spiritual danger, help them show them that they're in spiritual danger.

[SPEAKER_00]: If they're watching things that they should have watched, if they're treating, and you get invited to a friend's home and you see the way that they are interacting with their siblings or their parents, they're dishonoring them.

[SPEAKER_00]: You should see, red flag, my friend, my brother or sister in Christ, is in spiritual danger.

[SPEAKER_00]: Just as if somebody was in physical danger, to fulfill this command of protecting them, you ought to rescue them from that physical danger.

[SPEAKER_00]: Spiritual danger, walking in sin, junior high, or do you want your call to do?

[SPEAKER_00]: You're called to go and bring and protect their life.

[SPEAKER_00]: And how do you do that?

[SPEAKER_00]: By calling them to repentance and leading them back to the truth.

[SPEAKER_00]: By calling them to repentance and bringing them back to the truth.

[SPEAKER_00]: Not laughing at their sin, not just ignoring it, but if they're a spiritual danger, you go towards them, calling to repentance and lead them back to the truth.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is why we have small groups.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is what small groups here are for, where when you are confessing your sins to one another and praying for one another and memorizing God's Word and talking to your leaders and talking to your parents at home, and all you're doing, you're bringing spiritual life to your own souls and life to the souls of those around you, which is fulfilling this command you shall not murder.

[SPEAKER_00]: And lastly, another way is to pray for others.

[SPEAKER_00]: This actually ties right along.

[SPEAKER_00]: I kind of combine the two.

[SPEAKER_00]: Hold one another accountable and make sure one another are spiritually healthy.

[SPEAKER_00]: And by doing these things, we fulfill this command.

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, maybe the Holy Spirit has been convicting you.

[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe you thought, even tonight, hearing that it was the sixth command that, oh, my hands are clean, and this is an easy one to fulfill.

[SPEAKER_00]: failed.

[SPEAKER_00]: We are murderers and God's eyes.

[SPEAKER_00]: And the longer we continue in murder, the more we will murder our old souls and it will destroy us from the inside out.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jeans are here.

[SPEAKER_00]: Turn from your murder to the one who was murdered for you.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's what we celebrate.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is good Friday, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: We are murderers before God.

[SPEAKER_00]: What is your only hope, Jeair?

[SPEAKER_00]: You must turn your eyes to the one who was murdered on your behalf.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus alone was the only one who had clean hands, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: We're called to have our hands to nurture others not murder with our hands.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus alone had a clean hands and a pure heart and yet,

[SPEAKER_00]: His pure and clean hands were pierced and covered in blood, and his hands were made dirty, lie, because he was buried and taking your sin and shame.

[SPEAKER_00]: Look to the hands of our peers.

[SPEAKER_00]: Repent, if you a better murderer, turn to the one who was murdered by faith, believe in him, trust in him, and he will wash you and make you write a snow.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then go back.

[SPEAKER_00]: go back to this command and say, oh, how I delight in your law.

[SPEAKER_00]: Let's pray in your thanks.

[SPEAKER_00]: Dear Jesus, thank you that you are murdered for murderers, all of us have murdered in heart.

[SPEAKER_00]: We have failed to love and bring life and protect our neighbor as you have called us to will physically and spiritually, and we have broken, and we have done what you have forbidden.

[SPEAKER_00]: By murdering physically and hitting others and being mean towards others and angry and seeking revenge on our own and we have failed this command, we broken it, but thanks be to God, we die from murderers like us.

[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.

[SPEAKER_00]: I pray that you would help these junior hiders to have great discussions in their smart groups, and that you would help us to walk according to your commands for your glory and our good.
