Summer Camp: King Over All

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm really excited to be here and I'm honored to thank you guys.

[SPEAKER_00]: I am your guest, but I'm your guest because it's your leadership invited me so I don't take that for granted.

[SPEAKER_00]: I am honored to be here.

[SPEAKER_00]: Anna, as Paul said to the Romans, I'm looking forward to it if you're going to bless me this week.

[SPEAKER_00]: As I watch you guys follow Christ and watch you guys love each other in the Lord as you do all the crazy fun things that you do.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm pregnant with a little blessing me through what you guys are doing this week.

[SPEAKER_00]: Speaking of prayers, let me tell you this too.

[SPEAKER_00]: This has been my prayer for you going into this week.

[SPEAKER_00]: My prayer for you going into this week sounds really simple, but it's very, very specific.

[SPEAKER_00]: My prayer has been that this week you will have an amazing time while growing in your faith.

[SPEAKER_00]: And the reason why that's very specific is because I didn't say my prayers that you will have an amazing time and growing your faith.

[SPEAKER_00]: is that King overall means he's King over the silly competitions that we do.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he's King over the fun that you're going to have late on tonight and you're staying up to late talking and laughing in your bunkhouses.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's King over the competitions he's King over every bit of it.

[SPEAKER_00]: And you'll have to turn one thing off and turn another thing on.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's always awkward.

[SPEAKER_00]: And as soon as events are canceled,

[SPEAKER_00]: like people go from like the crazy fun stuff in the worship and somebody tries to make it like a hard gear shift.

[SPEAKER_00]: You guys didn't do that, which tells me that you're probably already picking up on the thing that I'm gonna teach you all night.

[SPEAKER_00]: And that's that Jesus was the same Lord when y'all are being holes like bashing your heads on the table.

[SPEAKER_00]: You can imagine great, that's why I don't know.

[SPEAKER_00]: Same Lord.

[SPEAKER_00]: And if you follow Christ, it's the same Christ that you pray to this Lord, the same Christ that you same to just now.

[SPEAKER_00]: Same God.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's the same one that was rolling over all of that.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so this king overall is about time to find and see the kingship of Christ in every sphere of our lives.

[SPEAKER_00]: And not have to try to turn one thing off and turn another thing on, but to just live under the kingship of Christ and enjoy every bit of being the servant that he's made you beat because it is the most enjoyable thing in the world, but you really have to stand.

[SPEAKER_00]: how much authority this king has and how good he is to us, just kind of work.

[SPEAKER_00]: So that's my prayer again, if you haven't faith in time this week, why are growing in your faith?

[SPEAKER_00]: Not in, really in your faith.

[SPEAKER_00]: Keep that in mind this week as we go forward, especially in all night.

[SPEAKER_00]: As we, as we get into the series on to the King over all, tonight, our first session is how you don't make him king.

[SPEAKER_00]: You don't make him king.

[SPEAKER_00]: And the reason why it's how you don't make him king is because

[SPEAKER_00]: popular saying in Christianity, and it's fine.

[SPEAKER_00]: I get the heart behind it.

[SPEAKER_00]: But the popular saying is like, you need to make Jesus the word of your life.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I understand what that's saying.

[SPEAKER_00]: I've said it before too.

[SPEAKER_00]: What the heart that that's getting out is that you need to submit to the authority in Christ in your life, yes and amen.

[SPEAKER_00]: But the idea of saying, you make Christ the word of your life actually is coming from a wrong idea of where Christ's reign is.

[SPEAKER_00]: Christ's brain isn't over there, you can opt in or you opt out.

[SPEAKER_00]: Christ's brain is already right now.

[SPEAKER_00]: He is raining over the lost person just like he's raining over the safe first.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's raining over every sphere of every area of every square inch of all of creation, whether one submits to it willing or not.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so the first thing that we're going to see in this series is that you don't make him him.

[SPEAKER_00]: And again, I understand the saying.

[SPEAKER_00]: And about, did you say that you want to keep saying it's fine, I'm not going to come in here.

[SPEAKER_00]: But what I am saying is, we need to reframe our thinking where instead of seeing Christ's worship, Christ's leadership as an opt-in for us, we need to see and understand that you already has it.

[SPEAKER_00]: And the choice is up whether or not you make them order them, whether or not you make them keep.

[SPEAKER_00]: The choice is whether or not you're going to really submit to the kingship for your accounts.

[SPEAKER_00]: And let me show you how, oh,

[SPEAKER_00]: How I think this problem has really become an epidemic in our modern Christianity.

[SPEAKER_00]: We'll be developing these two in just a second.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just trying to figure it out for this.

[SPEAKER_00]: In modern Christianity, if you were to ask the average person to describe what the Jesus is, the answers they're probably going to be.

[SPEAKER_00]: Our answers like 12, he's the son of God.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus is the Savior of the world.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus is the friend of sinners.

[SPEAKER_00]: And they said, okay, well tell me like, what is life?

[SPEAKER_00]: What is his cure to life?

[SPEAKER_00]: What is his nature of life?

[SPEAKER_00]: So they might say, he's loving, he's gracious, he's the pattern, or he's forgiving.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, and then he is all of those things.

[SPEAKER_00]: But we also know, those of us who know Christ, those of us who are students of the Word, we also know that he is those things.

[SPEAKER_00]: While at the same time being the supreme ruler of the universe, words like majestic and holy and sovereign,

[SPEAKER_00]: and exalted, and he's always both of those things at the same time, and it's not like you pick one of the other people, but in our modern flavor Christianity, just in the world today, if you ask somebody what their first thoughts of Jesus are, they're almost never those latter things.

[SPEAKER_00]: So many first thoughts of Jesus are almost never majestic.

[SPEAKER_00]: What was the last time that you heard somebody describe Jesus,

[SPEAKER_00]: Other than when you're singing a song, it was the last time you heard somebody calling you just glorious.

[SPEAKER_00]: But you've probably heard somebody call him loving and forgiving or compassionate, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: Again, he's not one or the other, he's both things, but I think we have a deficit.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think we're out of balance.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think we lean to heavy on the compassionate, embracious and loving.

[SPEAKER_00]: And we neglect the idea that the reason why it's so amazing that he's so compassionate and gracious and loving.

[SPEAKER_00]: The reason why that should be so mind-blowing is because he is high and it's often lifted up and glorious and holy.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's what makes that part so amazing.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's who this one is that loves us so much.

[SPEAKER_00]: The one that loves us so much is the one that makes people tremble when he shows up.

[SPEAKER_00]: Right, so the back to split means two.

[SPEAKER_00]: Let's look at split means two.

[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, verse five.

[SPEAKER_00]: Because what we're going to see in split means two, five, we're 11.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's already been read, but I want you to look at both.

[SPEAKER_00]: So you're going to see both sides, both sides, and how they're united here is one passage.

[SPEAKER_00]: The beginning of verse five, have this fine among yourselves, which is yours in price use.

[SPEAKER_00]: Who though he was in the form of God did not count the quality with God a thing to be grasped, but empty himself by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men, and being found in human form, being humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on the cross.

[SPEAKER_00]: So it was the last time we just said, right, it was about Christ stepping down from

[SPEAKER_00]: That's what this first word will be in the stews, the stones.

[SPEAKER_00]: That he emptied himself, he set aside his divine progress, take on human flesh, to be like us in every way, except for without sin, that he might live in the perfect life that has required everyone of us, that none of us can provide to God.

[SPEAKER_00]: That he might die to sinners death, that is, oh, to God from everyone of us.

[SPEAKER_00]: And that he might credit both of those things.

[SPEAKER_00]: The perfect righteousness he earned is the perfect man and the perfect sacrifice, the perfect provisionation that he earned on the cross.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he might give those to us freely and trust them.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, and amen.

[SPEAKER_00]: But there's a therefore, verse 9, the cause he did not, their further.

[SPEAKER_00]: God, the father has exalted him and the so-called him, the name that is above every name.

[SPEAKER_00]: That means the title, the title that is above every title.

[SPEAKER_00]: There's no one that out ranks him.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's what this passage is saying.

[SPEAKER_00]: The name that is above every name, so that the name of Jesus every knee should bow, the listen, every knee is every knee.

[SPEAKER_00]: Not just goes it off him.

[SPEAKER_00]: Not just believers.

[SPEAKER_00]: Every knee will bow and every time

[SPEAKER_00]: that Jesus Christ is Lord, so in other words, we're painting.

[SPEAKER_00]: Rule, sovereign.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus Christ is Lord to the Lord of God the Father.

[SPEAKER_00]: Here's what we're gonna see in this message.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus is not waiting for people to make him Lord of their lives.

[SPEAKER_00]: The Father or even make him Lord of the lives.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus is not waiting for people to make him Lord of their lives.

[SPEAKER_00]: He has already the supreme and exalted kingdom role.

[SPEAKER_00]: And our response is to humbly submit to the Lord's ship, the kingship, the earth he has.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus is not waiting for anybody to make an order of their lives.

[SPEAKER_00]: The response that we are in heaven is not to make him when he already is, but to say, yes, it will.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, we're going to get to the same thing, but I want you to keep this thought in mind as we go forward.

[SPEAKER_00]: The very first confession in early Christians confess, the very first thing, confession of faith, what identified them as a Christian, was three words.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus is both, that was the original confession of a person, for sure.

[SPEAKER_00]: How do you know somebody's a Christian or Jesus is both?

[SPEAKER_00]: That's the confession of faith.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus is King.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now, the gospel is all wrapped up in the gospel, the idea that God, because He loved us so much, knows that we can't earn our way to Him, we can't earn His favor, we can't do anything to make ourselves acceptable to Him.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so, if everything we couldn't do, He did for us in Christ.

[SPEAKER_00]: And He credits our credits into us freely by grace alone, to faith alone, and Christ alone.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, and amen.

[SPEAKER_00]: But how do we know who has and has to receive that grace?

[SPEAKER_00]: The ones who confess, Christ is worthy.

[SPEAKER_00]: I wanted to over-receive that phrase.

[SPEAKER_00]: This was the confession of the other church.

[SPEAKER_00]: And we're going to get to that by watching.

[SPEAKER_00]: I keep this in mind, this Christ is Lord.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus is Lord in my first big point from this tonight.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be this, we often reduce Jesus without rejecting Him.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so this is for brothers and sisters or Christians in the room with which are faith in Christ.

[SPEAKER_00]: There's something that we often do in this department.

[SPEAKER_00]: We reduce Jesus without rejecting them because we're not seeing in his keenly light.

[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes when we fall on two simple patterns, when we fall on the self thing that just keeps coming back and keep falling into his someone into it over and over again.

[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes just because the desire for that pleasure got the best of us in a week moment, right, sometimes it is just that simple.

[SPEAKER_00]: So now that we go through a moment of kind of unbelief or doubt, it really is just as we're going through a hard time and it feels like we're not really connecting with God.

[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes it is just that simple.

[SPEAKER_00]: But a lot of times when we fall into a simple pattern or when we fall into a doubt of unbelief or doubt as Christians, you can trace it back to a too low view of Jesus.

[SPEAKER_00]: Joseph looked in temptation, you remember the Sunday school story with Papa's wife?

[SPEAKER_00]: And you remember Joseph's or not Joseph, yeah, Joseph's response.

[SPEAKER_00]: What's, how could I sin against my God in this way?

[SPEAKER_00]: What do you remember if Daniel before he's getting ready to be thrown into the lines then?

[SPEAKER_00]: Daniel's part post, you can't stop praying, why can't you stop praying?

[SPEAKER_00]: or they know what we're going to eat, the king's food, went down to start since the food to him.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he said, or the three Hebrew children Chad Rakti-Shak and Abendigo before they're thrown into the fire refers.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you go back and look at all those accounts, and you look at any other accounts of detailed accounts of people that are resisting temptation in the Bible, there's this element of how could up if they succeed, if they do resist.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is element of how could I do that to my God?

[SPEAKER_00]: What does that tell us?

[SPEAKER_00]: There's this idea that there's this keenly sovereignty that God has.

[SPEAKER_00]: We want a resistivation because we're grateful and we're gracious of all the God's done us, done for us, yeah.

[SPEAKER_00]: But we also want to build a resistivation because we understand that he's the Lord.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like, he's gone.

[SPEAKER_00]: Why do I have to do what he says because he's became when things come up sometimes in my house.

[SPEAKER_00]: with my kids, they're getting older now, especially with their younger.

[SPEAKER_00]: And they would ask, like, hey, our friends are doing this, those families do that.

[SPEAKER_00]: How can we can't do those things?

[SPEAKER_00]: And sometimes, like many of your parents, I would give them some kind of detailed explanation of, like, hey, that's something that's best for a flourishing, and that has a design and we'll recall this design.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be best for us.

[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes, I go through all that stuff.

[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes, when I tell them that we don't do the things that other families do, I tell them we don't do that because God said not to do.

[SPEAKER_00]: And listen, don't be like that here because I said so, but you don't get to the same thing as I said to him.

[SPEAKER_00]: Don't get to the same thing because I said so, you know I can see the king.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so, our obedience, when I'm trying to tell you, is that we don't make Christ king.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then sometimes the struggles that we're having in our Christian law is because our view of him is too low.

[SPEAKER_00]: Because as long as Jesus is just our friend.

[SPEAKER_00]: As long as Jesus is just the one that forgives us when we stumble, as long as Jesus is just the one that comforts us when we're hurting, as long as He's all those things, but He's not the sovereign King, it's going to be really easy to say yes to things that we don't need to say yes to and really easy to say no to things that we should be saying that to, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: But as long as we don't see Christ as King overall, there's going to be a gap in our obedience and in our devotion.

[SPEAKER_00]: And listen guys, so we might be familiar with the term legalism, the idea of like doing performing rules and checking all the Christian boxes to make sure that God accepts you and God's happy with you.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's not what this is.

[SPEAKER_00]: What this is is understanding that as many believers who have received grace from God, we have an obligation to seek to live lives that the least they can.

[SPEAKER_00]: We offer and do sin without projecting, we're still walking with them, we're still calling ourselves Christians.

[SPEAKER_00]: But our view is too low.

[SPEAKER_00]: We need to see him as the supreme sovereign ruler of all.

[SPEAKER_00]: Because we will never rightly respond to Christ until we write you king.

[SPEAKER_00]: Until you see him as the supreme king that he is, you will never respond to him as the supreme king.

[SPEAKER_00]: you'll just keep treating him like a helper.

[SPEAKER_00]: Help her this just around the big yolk when you fall and forgive you for your sins and patch on your back and tell you that it's gonna be okay and he's got you.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he said, I'm gonna try to minimize anything.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus is near to us like that.

[SPEAKER_00]: His clothes was like that.

[SPEAKER_00]: He just swooped down and reached reach down and grabbed us and picked us up.

[SPEAKER_00]: But again, the reason why it's so amazing that he does this thing is because as it says of what he has to, he is the sovereign,

[SPEAKER_00]: He has the name that is above every name.

[SPEAKER_00]: Here's the turn of Washington.

[SPEAKER_00]: Here's what scripture over and over and shows us about the supremacy of Christ, about the way that we should be seeing.

[SPEAKER_00]: A Washington chapter one versus 15th of June.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is my desire for our time together.

[SPEAKER_00]: that all of us would leave tonight, not feeling bad, not feeling beat up, not feeling guiltier, shameful.

[SPEAKER_00]: But that all of us tonight would leave your thinking, I need a higher view of Jesus.

[SPEAKER_00]: I need to think about him more, exalted than I do.

[SPEAKER_00]: Because I can tell you right now, every single one of us in the room has two low view of Jesus.

[SPEAKER_00]: And you all know that, because you can't have a eye in that view.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so I want to sit and want us to grasp something in our hearts, this is, I need to think more highly of them.

[SPEAKER_00]: I need to, what I'm seeing, I need to remember that I'm singing to a king.

[SPEAKER_00]: When I am listening to the word red and free-stunning or remember that I'm hearing the word of the king, breached the word of the king, it's bound to pop.

[SPEAKER_00]: When I'm sitting in my small group and we're talking about our devotion on that morning.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to remember what I'm talking about is the brief minutes that I have that morning sitting down with the king.

[SPEAKER_00]: When I go to him at prayer and I'm asking him to help me with things, I need to remember what I'm doing is I'm walking into the throne room of God and I'm asking the king to help me.

[SPEAKER_00]: I want us to have this mind, to have this art, that says Jesus is king, and that's not just some title that's in the mix of all other titles.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's the title that makes all the other titles so amazing, gospel chapter 1, verses 5 through 20.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to read this.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then I'm just going to list the descriptions of Christ, the Colossiansians.

[SPEAKER_00]: Beginning in verse 50, Christ is the image of the invisible God, the first one of all creation.

[SPEAKER_00]: For by him, all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible.

[SPEAKER_00]: Whether drugs, or dominions, or rulers, or authorities, all things were created through him

[SPEAKER_00]: for him, because there's not a butterfly, a waterfall, a mountain range, a human being.

[SPEAKER_00]: There was not, there was not created through him and for him.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he is before all things.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then him, all things hold together.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he is the head of the body, the church.

[SPEAKER_00]: He is the beginning, the first one from the dead.

[SPEAKER_00]: that in everything he might be preeminent, for in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him, directs out to himself, all things, whether I'm hurt or in heaven, make you peace by blood of his pulse.

[SPEAKER_00]: Amen.

[SPEAKER_00]: So first, Jesus is the image of the invisible God.

[SPEAKER_00]: Do you want to know what the Father's like?

[SPEAKER_00]: Look at Christ.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's what He's whole ability.

[SPEAKER_00]: Those that show us the Father,

[SPEAKER_00]: If you see the following scene, me, he's the image of the invisible guy.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's the firstborn of all creation.

[SPEAKER_00]: That doesn't mean that he was created that he was born.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus has always existed as a second person, the Trinity.

[SPEAKER_00]: Firstborn here is a title that he is the most important.

[SPEAKER_00]: In the ancient world, the firstborn was the heir.

[SPEAKER_00]: The firstborn was the next one in charge.

[SPEAKER_00]: The firstborn was with the one that the whole family looked to.

[SPEAKER_00]: The idea of Christ being the firstborn in this passage means that there's nobody ahead of him.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's the firstborn of all creation.

[SPEAKER_00]: It says that he's the creator of all things.

[SPEAKER_00]: When it says that in him, all things hold together, he's the sustainer of all things.

[SPEAKER_00]: The breath, it just entered your lungs, and went back out, was to creep by Christ.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's the sustainer of all things.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's the one for who all things exist.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's before all things.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's the head of the church.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's why we don't get to decide how we want to structure the church, how we want to worship the Lord, because he is the head of the church, it's his church.

[SPEAKER_00]: He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead.

[SPEAKER_00]: He is the first one to be resurrected into eternal glory, and an invisible resurrected body in the same way that we will follow.

[SPEAKER_00]: He is the first.

[SPEAKER_00]: He is preeminent.

[SPEAKER_00]: He is the one in whom the fullness of God dwells, and then lastly, he is the reconciler of all things.

[SPEAKER_00]: when we were living life and thinking thoughts of Christ.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're just living life and maybe not even consciously thinking thoughts of Christ, but we're just living life by thinking Christ.

[SPEAKER_00]: You understand what I mean about it?

[SPEAKER_00]: When you're out there, you're on the core, you play basketball, and you're out there, you might not be thinking like, you know, singing a worship song in your head, you need to make sure that you're hungry, and that's what you don't have to do that.

[SPEAKER_00]: But say, if you're doing that, you're playing basketball, a binding price.

[SPEAKER_00]: You're playing basketball in connection with Christ, that you've submitted your life doing, you've submitted the day to, you've spent time with them, and you're in connection with Christ where you're just doing the normal stuff of life.

[SPEAKER_00]: When you're in those moments in your heart, ghosts, and your mind, ghosts, are you thinking of Him like these terms?

[SPEAKER_00]: Are you thinking of Him like a pre-evitable?

[SPEAKER_00]: The sustainable things, the creator of all things, the head of the church, the one who's before all things, are you just thinking of Him as

[SPEAKER_00]: the friends we see, we forgive you for your sins.

[SPEAKER_00]: And here we go, it's a shame, I'm not trying to minimize that.

[SPEAKER_00]: What I'm saying is there's a gap.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're not seeing him as king the way that we ought to.

[SPEAKER_00]: And you know what happens when we don't see him as king the way we ought to.

[SPEAKER_00]: Is we never get the true nearness to him that we're meant to.

[SPEAKER_00]: When we don't see him as king the way we ought to, we never get to the true nearness to him as we're meant to.

[SPEAKER_00]: Let me give you some examples.

[SPEAKER_00]: when you look at people in Scripture that had no of a close intimate relationship with God, it always started with an understanding and an acknowledgement and a revelation of the supremacy of God.

[SPEAKER_00]: Fear always came before mention.

[SPEAKER_00]: Supremacy always came before intimacy.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna give you some examples to share this.

[SPEAKER_00]: And when I say fear,

[SPEAKER_00]: You guys probably heard this saying before, so this is when the Bible talks about fearing God, it's not talking about being afraid of him, it's talking about revering him.

[SPEAKER_00]: You heard that before, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's almost true.

[SPEAKER_00]: Because it is talking, it is not talking about being afraid of God, like on terrified, like a puppy that's gonna be eating, he's gonna hit, they kind of think.

[SPEAKER_00]: It is saying no, it's not that slainish behavior.

[SPEAKER_00]: But listen, there is a healthy fear of God that is the same as being afraid.

[SPEAKER_00]: When God reveals himself to people in scripture over and over, then you only have to say good, every time, don't be afraid.

[SPEAKER_00]: Why is that?

[SPEAKER_00]: Because there's some element to the revelation of the glory of God, that He's scared.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so the fear of God is a healthy fear of fear.

[SPEAKER_00]: It is reference, but it is also when you walk into the presence of the king of kings and lord of lords, that should be a little quiver in your knees.

[SPEAKER_00]: You should log in there just like you own the place.

[SPEAKER_00]: There should be a little bit of, is it okay if I convince you or more?

[SPEAKER_00]: There is a healthy fear of the word that is actually clear.

[SPEAKER_00]: Let me give you some examples.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna, I'm gonna paraphrase as you go back and look in my bladder.

[SPEAKER_00]: But most of the book of Exodus.

[SPEAKER_00]: So what happens with those is you may address the work.

[SPEAKER_00]: But most eventually is the point where the Bible says that you spoke with the Lord face the face

[SPEAKER_00]: Raise your hand if you'd like that to be a testimony about you, and you spoke to the word face to face like a man's feet.

[SPEAKER_00]: Do you know how Moses' relationship with God started?

[SPEAKER_00]: The burning bush.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Moses saw the burning bush and he was curious and he walked over the burning bush and once he heard the voice of God coming out of the burning bush and the Bible says, he was terrified.

[SPEAKER_00]: He was scared.

[SPEAKER_00]: Moses achieved this intimate close relationship with God, where he spoke with the Lord face to face and demands peace for the friend.

[SPEAKER_00]: To where he told the Lord, if you don't go on that, go on either.

[SPEAKER_00]: Moses got that close to the Lord, but it started with fear.

[SPEAKER_00]: It started with a healthy revelation of the supremacy, the kingship of God, the glory of God, the same thing that I've told you is missing in some of our relationship with Christ.

[SPEAKER_00]: May give you another tip.

[SPEAKER_00]: The last recording account we have with Peter the Apostle with the risen Christ is this dear, intimate, loving moment that they have, where Peter is being restored for denying you Christ.

[SPEAKER_00]: And the Lord says, and you love me, Peter, and Peter says, you know that I do, and it's me, my sheep.

[SPEAKER_00]: And there's this moment where Peter is fully restored, and you can just sense the love and the tenderness in this account.

[SPEAKER_00]: Do you know what?

[SPEAKER_00]: The earth's relationship started with, how started with Jesus?

[SPEAKER_00]: I've been following Jesus for a very short amount of time, and then he sees Jesus do a miracle.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he gets a glimpse of this divinity.

[SPEAKER_00]: He gets a glimpse of the holiness of Christ.

[SPEAKER_00]: And you don't hear his response, was he said, go away from me, Lord.

[SPEAKER_00]: For I am a sinful man.

[SPEAKER_00]: In other words, Peter was saying, I should be with you.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is terrible.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't belong here.

[SPEAKER_00]: But you know, Pauli also, Pauli also inflicted me in Chapter 3, so he would give up everything for what?

[SPEAKER_00]: To know Christ Jesus, my Lord, for who's saved up lost all things, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: Paul was, his part's desire was to be closer to know and learn more how to ball-start his relationship with Christ.

[SPEAKER_00]: He was blind and knocked off a force and heard of the waste of his head.

[SPEAKER_00]: French, the supremacy always preceded the intimacy, and we will never get the nearest to Christ that really we need to get until we understand that this nearness is so amazing because it's so kind of place.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus should love me way that he loves me.

[SPEAKER_00]: He should draw near to me the way that he draws near to me.

[SPEAKER_00]: He should be tender and kind to me the way that he's tender and kind to me.

[SPEAKER_00]: But David says, oh Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name and all the earth?

[SPEAKER_00]: You have centered glory above the head of us.

[SPEAKER_00]: You have established strength because of your foes to still the enemy and the avenger.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then he says,

[SPEAKER_00]: When I look ahead of the work of your fingers, the mood and the stars that you have said in place, what is man, that you're mindful of, when the son of man, careful, you see both things in it.

[SPEAKER_00]: David is fondering the majesty and the supremacy of God.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then he says, in light of that, come on.

[SPEAKER_00]: We will never really give him, I'm giving him, we'll never really get to that intimacy.

[SPEAKER_00]: that we need with the order to reverse the knowledge.

[SPEAKER_00]: His kingship is, for instance, Isaiah 5715.

[SPEAKER_00]: For thus says, the one who was high and lifted up when had his attorney, whose name is Holy, I dwell in the high and holy place, but also within who is a kind of a contrite and boldly spirit, to revive the spirit globally and to revive the heart of the country.

[SPEAKER_00]: price is supreme over and over and over and over the scripture and to achieve the nearness that we need to achieve with it.

[SPEAKER_00]: And yet it's this Jesus that swoops down the rest of us.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's this Jesus that opens his ears.

[SPEAKER_00]: when a real cold teenager sings to it.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's this Jesus that gave himself on a cross.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's this Jesus that said, Father forgive him for they know not what they do.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's this Jesus, in Matthew 11, who says, all you are a weary and heavy lady come to me and help give you rest.

[SPEAKER_00]: The amazing thing about the tenderness and kindness of Jesus is that he ought not be that way to us.

[SPEAKER_00]: And it is.

[SPEAKER_00]: the right response to Christ, because of His supremacy, because He is the King already, and He's just humble submission, humble submission.

[SPEAKER_00]: So as for them, goodness are wrapin' this up for you, I said, here's where His words are for you.

[SPEAKER_00]: You don't make Christ came.

[SPEAKER_00]: You submit to the King, should be your hands.

[SPEAKER_00]: And if I had to describe what that looks like in a very short phrase, what it looks like to submit

[SPEAKER_00]: It would be seek to live with a posture of, yes, more, seek to live with a posture of, yes, more.

[SPEAKER_00]: You see how that's different.

[SPEAKER_00]: So when we just see Jesus as the kind loving Savior who forgives us for our sins, and we're convicted of sin, yeah, we feel bad for doing it.

[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe we feel bad for doing it because we don't know how much Jesus is done for us.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's that kind of makes us feel kind of guilty that we send against him in that way.

[SPEAKER_00]: But when we see him this pain, and then we're faced with that same temptation, now listen, there's a obligation to open.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now it's not just like when I know what I should obeyed because I say I call it price, and that's what people call it price too.

[SPEAKER_00]: But now I have obligation to obey because I understand that the one who I set saves me is also the king who rules over me.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so when he convicts you and says, hey, don't do that again.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because heart-possiousness says, yes, yes.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yes?

[SPEAKER_00]: Why?

[SPEAKER_00]: Because you're treating him like a king.

[SPEAKER_00]: Or in the positive sense, when you lead your heart to do something positive, to serve in some way, or to obey in some way, or to share the gospel with that person, that you know what it's like when you 20 taps on your heart, is like, hey, you need an open amount, you need to say some of that first right now.

[SPEAKER_00]: And you're like, I know I should, but I'm kind of scared, when you live with this understanding that Christ is kidding, and you're like, hey, it doesn't really matter how I feel about this right now.

[SPEAKER_00]: doesn't really matter how equipped I feel right now, doesn't really matter if I think I know all the answers, it doesn't really matter.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think they might have an objection that I will be able to count.

[SPEAKER_00]: What matters right now is that the king said, do this, and so I'm going to say yes.

[SPEAKER_00]: And the spirit of this one of that has works like every other discipline in your life.

[SPEAKER_00]: Becoming more like Christ.

[SPEAKER_00]: and becoming more obedient to Christ over time is not something you can naturally do.

[SPEAKER_00]: You need the power of the Holy Spirit, you need the warmth again apart, yes, check, check, check.

[SPEAKER_00]: But the way that that actually flesh is out is the same way that discipline works in every other way that God created the world.

[SPEAKER_00]: The more often you say yes to the Lord, guess what, the easier it is to say yes to the Lord.

[SPEAKER_00]: The more often you say no to the Lord, guess what, the easier it is to say no to the Lord.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know that this is true because in any area of the life of God giving you victory over sinful struggles you used to have, it started with run yesterday and then another yesterday and then another yesterday and then you look at it and you're like, man, it's been two years since I struggled with that thing.

[SPEAKER_00]: How did you get there?

[SPEAKER_00]: It was a long series of the festivals.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's acknowledging Christ, it's King.

[SPEAKER_00]: He told me to do this to him and do it.

[SPEAKER_00]: He told me not to do something.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's why it's second Corinthians five and nine.

[SPEAKER_00]: all said, whether we are in a whole world way, we make it our aim to be peace.

[SPEAKER_00]: Again, that's not legal, is it, guys?

[SPEAKER_00]: He saves us by grace alone.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's faithful alone in Christ alone, when we trust him can.

[SPEAKER_00]: But once we're following him, we've acknowledged his kingship and what he expects us to do is live in such a way that the peace is in.

[SPEAKER_00]: What the peace is in?

[SPEAKER_00]: You can't offer perfect obedience to you.

[SPEAKER_00]: You can't offer?

[SPEAKER_00]: You can offer, yes, no, yes, no.

[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what the peace is in.

[SPEAKER_00]: The final final point is that this king is king who is already worthy of everything, who you don't make king.

[SPEAKER_00]: This king who already has authority over everything, this king who sins you out the Great Commission, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: To go and make disciples of all nations, bad guys who live in the fog of the sun of the Holy Spirit, you hold on with, you always need to be in the age.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I left out the most important part of the first, the most important part of the first was the beginning.

[SPEAKER_00]: when he says, all for you, as we do in the name.

[SPEAKER_00]: The reason why you were sent is because you're sent by the king.

[SPEAKER_00]: You can't leave off the mark.

[SPEAKER_00]: Or when you defend your faith, like Peter says in 1 Peter 315, he tells you to be ready to give an answer for the hope of the path.

[SPEAKER_00]: He starts it off in 1 Peter 315 by saying, honor Christ the Lord as holy in your heart.

[SPEAKER_00]: Lord is that name.

[SPEAKER_00]: When you get ready to defend your faith and you get ready to share your faith and you don't want a mission trip or to go to your neighborhood to share the gospel You're to go with the understanding that I'm not trying to get them to accept my Lord This is not this is not my flavor of religion We're my flavor of beliefs and I'm just trying to get somebody to accept a child on You might really like it to be try it like you're given the name is on your name or something, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: That's not what it is.

[SPEAKER_00]: What did you go in with the message?

[SPEAKER_00]: written in it and believed in the gospel.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's what he sent us, all the authority is given to him.

[SPEAKER_00]: But this came, who commands those in the first 19 back-work has to be called.

[SPEAKER_00]: For in him, all the fullness of God is pleased to roll, and through him the reconcil of all things to himself.

[SPEAKER_00]: Whether heaven or earth, they can be used by the world of his folks.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is the pre-eminent, glorious one.

[SPEAKER_00]: is the king who represents science.

[SPEAKER_00]: The most amazing thing about this sovereign majestic assaulting man.

[SPEAKER_00]: But all that started in 2000 years, when he left him, became her to live the life that I could live.

[SPEAKER_00]: Here's the book, the glorious news of the gospel.

[SPEAKER_00]: And John chapter said to Jesus says, all those of the Father gives me will come to me.

[SPEAKER_00]: And whoever comes to me, I will never cast out.

[SPEAKER_00]: But I've come down from heaven now, to be my own good.

[SPEAKER_00]: And now I'm from his throne, not through my own good.

[SPEAKER_00]: But the will of the Holy Spirit, this is the will of the Holy Spirit.

[SPEAKER_00]: And all those who He has given me, that I shall use none of the praise and love of God's sake.

[SPEAKER_00]: Here's what that means.

[SPEAKER_00]: That this gospel message, that this came, can you reconcile with you and you and you and you,

[SPEAKER_00]: It's for anyone who's with your trust in me.

[SPEAKER_00]: All those parts of the given will come to me.

[SPEAKER_00]: In other words, I was like, this will come.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you want to use this, you can have it.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's awful.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's awful to walk on.

[SPEAKER_00]: All those parts of the given will come.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you need to use that one, if you need to put your trust in it, you've got leaders here, you've got password here, you've got people there.

[SPEAKER_00]: They can talk to you, they can pray with you,

[SPEAKER_00]: Whatever you need, I can read with you to help you or do that.

[SPEAKER_00]: What that means is trust in Jesus.

[SPEAKER_00]: I would encourage you to do that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Enough put it on.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you already know Christ, you can follow Him.

[SPEAKER_00]: And my challenge to you for the highest is just this.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's just changed the way you made me.

[SPEAKER_00]: Start trying to get intentional about seeing Christ as King.

[SPEAKER_00]: Have you put your faith in Jesus, will you have fallen in back as we are?

[SPEAKER_00]: Are you really seeing Him as King?

[SPEAKER_00]: That's the command of the king, gave you.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think which of faith in Jesus, but you're living into a visual and repentant sense, you know, that you need with.

[SPEAKER_00]: Are you really seeing him as king?

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, he said in Luke 646, why do you call me Lord?

[SPEAKER_00]: And I'll do what I say.

[SPEAKER_00]: Are you seeing him as king?

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm saying instead of focusing on the dude on the thing I need to do, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: Focus on how I think you are.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't need a super ace of what it is that they don't do the things that they're supposed to be because it's going to come alive by and away like that's not going to work.
