You're listening to a message to go from X Church. We hope this message
-
will light up your team today. I will be speaking from the book of
-
John John chapter six, right, so you can turn to your bibles.
-
Will be there, John chapter six. And if you remember what I shared
-
with all of you before, it was Heaven rules through you. There was
-
part one, and now it's part two. Part one was let let me
-
help you remember it was this thing from exoders. You remember there was this
-
lamb and golds, and then the children were here drawing, right, okay,
-
And how God used the people or his people all right during that time
-
in Egypt, and their houses were the place of refuge and deliverance. If
-
you were just in that house and you followed the steps there about how to
-
eat, how would be ready you know to go? Then you have you
-
send a chance to be saved, otherwise you're out of the covering. And
-
the plague was the first born, every firstborn of every home, even including
-
animals, had to die, all right, as because of the evil that
-
has been done all right to the people there by the Pharaoh. So now
-
part two is this all right, John of the six, So let's start.
-
Let's start with this, all right. Chapter six, verse one to
-
three. After this, Jesus went away to the other side of the Sea
-
of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberius. And a large crowd was
-
following him because they saw the signs that he was doing on the sick.
-
Jesus went up on the mountain, and there he sat down with his disciples
-
policy for a while. All right, let's look at some verses here.
-
The first verse is about Jesus going away from somewhere and coming here Sea of
-
Galilee, Sea of Tiberius. Is this about he was doing his work with
-
his disciples, all right? What does he What does Jesus do? He
-
works, he teaches, he preaches, He heals the sick, he delivers
-
people out from I mean demons out of people, right, people out of
-
demons, demons out of people, all right. He heals the sick,
-
he raises the dead. Right, so he he does miracles. And then
-
so he was doing all that stuff together with his disciples. And then he
-
now is coming back to this place. If you remember, this is the
-
place Galilei is where I believe the miracle of the water into wine happened.
-
All right, It's kind of like his his his home something like that,
-
all right, And so he was going away. He was kind of like
-
wanting to take a break from the work that he was doing. You know,
-
Jesus gets tired, right, I mean at that time, at that
-
time he was in human form, physical form, and uh, you know
-
the story about the Smaritan woman. He gets thirsty tired, right, So
-
he does, and he was going to, you know, take a break.
-
And you know, even in the tired his tiredness, he and he
-
knows it. He knows he's going to get tired, and he also uses
-
all those tiredness moments for a purpose. He knows how to go about that,
-
right. Uh and uh so uh, but you know what, he
-
did such a great job right where he was, that the people started following
-
him in verse two, right, large crowd followed him from there to this
-
place because of the signs. Right. And so what happened in verse three
-
is he goes up a mountain. He keeps saying that, I mean the
-
word mountain is just he went he went up to a higher place. Right.
-
There was no like a real mountain there at the time, because if
-
you study the geography of that place, there's no like a mountain, right,
-
so it's a higher place. He's just trying to go away. And
-
what does he do. He doesn't go away alone. He brings his disciples.
-
He brings his disciples and he sat down. Do you think Jesus just
-
sits down and does nothing with his disciples. Maybe he has started to relax
-
for a while, but you know that, I think that what's sat down
-
with his disciples is not just you know, sitting down and having a drink
-
and laying around and you know, but he when he when he says sit
-
down with his disciples, he's definitely doing something with them. He's probably just
-
maybe reflecting with them, doing a deep brief, maybe preparing them for the
-
next one's to come, because he knows what's coming next, right, so
-
he's probably teaching them stuff, and he was preparing them even as they relax.
-
I don't think Jesus like so intense every moment it's like energy, you
-
know, it's like guys stopped lying around, you know. I don't think
-
he was like that. He probably knew they needed to like whind down and
-
stuff, but he never waited a moment, all right, So even in
-
the relaxing moment, there's something that can be done. So he's he's he's
-
reflecting with them and preparing them for the next thing. All right, next
-
slide. Oh sorry now, uh so, yeah, So Jesus invites us
-
to go and sit down with him. So I want to encourage all of
-
us here. All right, Uh, let's go with Jesus and let's sit
-
down with Jesus. What does that mean? Right, that's where we say
-
quiet time, That's where we say, come on, let's read this word.
-
Come on, let's be with Jesus. Let's follow him and glean from
-
him, learn from him. Let's let's sit down. Let's not be so
-
fidgetier walking about, running about, so busy, you know, with our
-
lives and distracted with our phones, that we don't sit down with him,
-
to sit down with our phones more than Jesus. Right, all right,
-
sit down on our toilet bowls with our phones. Right. Uh yeah,
-
that's that's very tempting to do, isn't it right? Just yeah, and
-
rather than with Jesus. I keep getting reminded of that, Right, every
-
time I'm sitting down, I'm so tempted to turn on the phone and look
-
at all the updates, right, that actually really doesn't concern me much.
-
It's like people updating stuff about them going through them, you know, the
-
seaside and whatever they're doing, and some concern me. Right, but actually
-
all these things I know for what? Right actually say, oh really nice,
-
you're going for days, we're going for that, right, very nice?
-
And so so what right? Like yeah, unless I see someone you
-
know sharing about their depression stuff, Okay, then maybe you reach out and
-
yeah. So anyway, uh sit down with Jesus more than any other thing.
-
Okay, let's let's continue to do that because it's a battle. Right.
-
It's easier said than done, right, but only you know, only
-
you know what you need to do to put into action to do that.
-
Amen, now move on. Okay, so now the passover. Okay,
-
my numbers, they're been wrong. It supposed before right now, the passover,
-
the feast of the Jews was at hand. Lifting up his eyes then
-
and seeing that a large crowd was coming toward him, Jesus said to Philip,
-
where are we to buy bread so that these people may eat? Okay,
-
passive for a while. So, uh now what I learned from this
-
is Jesus or God wants to involve us God wants to involve us. All
-
right, hey going to the Yeah, I want, I want. The
-
Bible says, yeah, So he solved the problem coming and you know that
-
Jesus he can. He can solve the problem all by himself. We know
-
this by now. Why he's God. He created all things. He created
-
all things before even humans existed. Right, so what this little thing about
-
people hungry? Five thousand people is nothing to him. He can feed millions,
-
so this is really a small job. But h and he can he
-
can make you know, the best food appear. You know, I don't
-
know what's the best food to you? Right? Uh? Some of you
-
like sushi, or some of you like pizzas or whatever. He can make
-
it all appear right in front of you and eat it, or just make
-
make it all appear in your stomach. You cannot taste that. They're on
-
said, right, it just appears all inside your stomach. You're fool,
-
right, or your hunger is gone. He can do all those things.
-
But what does he do? He looks at this guy called Philip, and
-
then he asked a question, and say, where are we to buy bread
-
so that these people may eat? Why does he ask this one Philip is
-
actually the local boy here. So there's this place called best Cider right in.
-
Actually this story is in all four Gospels, which is a very means
-
it's a it's a very important story. Okay, so you read all the
-
other gospels, you can see the different notes there. So Best Sider is
-
where they're they're at, and Philip is from there, and he's a local
-
guy. So you know, we look to the local guy who knows where's
-
the best place right to eat? You know, if you go to Clang,
-
you go like, who's from Clang? Who's wan Klang? You know
-
the best wood? Actually Clang people don't know, I mean the local people.
-
The local people don't know where the best food is. Well, I'm
-
talking about myself because I lived in this place called Quantan for years and when
-
people come up to me right and ask me where to eat in Quantan,
-
I say my house because for many many years I eat in my own house.
-
So I won't really know where to go, right, But the Pang
-
people seem to know. The Pining people eat out a bit more, maybe
-
the Clang people, so maybe they know, so uh yeah, in a
-
way. But but the local people know, right, they know they hear
-
of the place they probably went to. So Jesus looks to Philip and ask
-
where where to buy it? You know, for these people. Now,
-
I just want to say that again, God wants to involve us. God
-
wants to involve us. He can do everything by himself, but he wants
-
to involve us. So that's why we were serving. We're actually getting involved.
-
And why do we need to get involved? Why does God want to
-
involve us? I've got this question, you know, in my Bible class
-
from some of our my students say, because I'm learning learning about Moses.
-
Let's say, and then the question always past, why why does God want
-
to use Moses? Why don't you just do it all himself? He's I
-
mean, it's powerful, right, just doing himself a pear to Pharaoh face
-
to face, and Pharaoh be shaking, right, But why does he use
-
Moses? Right? And it's true, rights, that's a good question.
-
Why don't you settle all himself? Then we won't need to exist as sorry?
-
Actually right? So? But then so, but then God does it
-
because he wants to involve Moses. He wants Moses to learn something, he
-
wants He's in his he loves the development of our selves of his people,
-
that we learn and we grow and we progress, all right. He loves
-
that. So that's why he involves us because he doesn't need to learn.
-
He doesn't need to learn any anything. He's done, right, he's PhD
-
or PhDs all right. But we are the ones who need to learn.
-
So that's why he's merciful enough to give us the grace to learn by our
-
involvement. Amen. Right, Um, yeah, you know when when we
-
do music right and we can we can imagine all we want from Afar and
-
say, I think that's how the Khan is played. Until we sit on
-
that kahan and start to go boomleg bump, and edy of that beat is
-
off. Like I thought you thought it was easy. Oh yeah, now
-
I know. Now I've got to keep the beat. Now my hands actually
-
on the thing, and I've got I have to keep it because no one
-
else is going to keep it except me. I'm the con guy. Right.
-
So then you now have the experience and feel of everything right, and
-
you go like looking at all these like Jamie Oliver Cookie like, ah,
-
that's so easier. And then you start buying ingredients You're like, oh,
-
can't find that ingredient. So what what to do now if I if I
-
don't use the ingredient that Jamie Oliver used, is it going to taste the
-
same? And so now you know now you now you feel it when you're
-
in it, right, same thing with swimming. Right you can see all
-
the Olympic swimmers say yeah, yeah, yeah, but then you start drumming
-
in what they're like, help me, right, So it's it's really when
-
you're in the thick of the action that you actually see with your own eyes,
-
feel with your own hands, with your own emotions. And that's where
-
you might say I need help. I need to learn, I need to
-
get better, I need to improve. Amen. Yeah, So that's why
-
God involves us. He really doesn't need any of us. We need him.
-
We need to be involved because we need to grow. We need to
-
learn. All right, tell your neighbor that what Tell your neighbor what you
-
need to learn? You need to grow. I need to learn. There's
-
more humble, right, I need to grow. Okay, let's move on.
-
Ah. So yeah, he can do it all alone, but he
-
involves us so we can learn. Next one, Okay, now he said
-
this to test him for he himself knew what he would do exactly right.
-
He knew what he was gonna do already, but he just asked Philip anyway,
-
because he's the local boy. He's the expert, right, he's the
-
expert. He knows the places, and indeed he gives an expert answer.
-
He gives an expert answer. Philip answered him two hundred denar worth or bread
-
will not be enough while using mathematics, you know, numbers, giving the
-
numbers, okay, will that be worth? Not enough for each of them
-
to get a little very good answer, you know, but you know this
-
is a very human answer. Humans we always think about the minimum, like
-
you know, how much the minimum can I give, you know, to
-
survive? How much minimum can I distribute to survive myself because I don't have
-
all the money. And also to help them survive is survive and survive survival.
-
We're going with that. But you know, God doesn't think that we.
-
He created everything, he's got of abundance and he can give more than
-
survival. And then anyone here your survive, I think just surviving. Right,
-
time to look to God. Let's look to God, and I want
-
to speak over all of us. You're not just gonna survive. You're not
-
just gonna survive. You're gonna have abundance. Amen, You're gonna have abundant
-
students, I know you'll your pocket money, it's limited, right, so
-
speak you're gonna have abundance. But but yeah, but it comes to the
-
yeah offering, all right, Well, of course you know he comes to
-
everything else. All right, you gotta you gotta follow Jesus, right,
-
gonna do the right thing. Because if you get abundance and you don't know
-
how to use it, it's all gonna go. All right, it's gonna
-
go. So God wants to give us abundance, not just survive. Amen,
-
So let's move on. Is the next. Yeah, don't allow our
-
limited thinking to limit God. Yeah, because we it's it's natural. Yeah,
-
right, don't feel bad about that. It's natural. Even the expert
-
Philip right, whose local boy there, and he's smart guy. Right,
-
he gives a minimum answer, and that's sometimes what we do. And Jesus
-
hears it and go like, okay, good answer. Let me give you
-
my answer. Let me give you my answer. Amen, all right,
-
and let's let's okay. Next one one of his disciples, Andrew, how
-
many Andrews are here in the house, only one. And then there's Anderson,
-
son of Andrew. Okay, one of his disciples, Andrew, this
-
is a very important namer Andrew huh okay. Simon Peter's brothers said to him,
-
there is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish.
-
But what are they for so many? Why didn't he's asked the boy's namer?
-
Because it's just a boy, okay, something like that. So in
-
a way, you know, And another other version says, a lad,
-
it's like the names are not important some kayla okay, right, so boy,
-
but no matter how unimportant we think we are, right, God is
-
gonna use us. God's gonna use you. Right, a boy here who
-
has what five bally loaves and two fish, very specific bally loaves, right,
-
not any other type, right, not artisan like Andrew here does,
-
right, okay, not wheat. Let me tell you, actually it's true.
-
In those days, people who are better off they ate wheat loaves.
-
Bally loaves is kind of like for animals and poorer people. So they eat
-
that all right. It's still edible, still edible, but it's you know,
-
they give it to the animals also and then the two fish. Interestingly,
-
right, I idea we are reading lah the word fish here. There's
-
there's the four Gospels, right, I believe three of them use another word
-
for fish, which is like the general word for fish, but this one
-
here specifically uses the word for like tiny fish, like sad sad fish.
-
Huh, he can belize, Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's really like
-
not not tirila, you know, not tuna. You know, it's sad
-
fishes, he can belize, right, yeah, I love cambilize though,
-
I love it all right, and chovies and chovies, all right, So
-
it's really small little fish. They're trying to emphasize this. This guy,
-
this lad has no name bally loaves that's used for animals, and two little,
-
tiny, sad looking fish. And that's why Andrew says, so what
-
can we do? But you know, Andrew, Andrew is this guy in
-
the Bible, right he brings people to Jesus. He brings people to Jesus.
-
First, he brought his own brother Peter to Jesus. I think it's
-
found in chapter one, I believe, right of John. He brings Peter
-
to Jesus. And you know, Peter is so blessed just because Andrew brought
-
him to Jesus, all right, And now what does he do? He
-
brings this boy to Jesus, all right, he brings this boy to Jesus.
-
And what's going to happen to this boy? He's gonna he's gonna experience
-
a miracle. So I want to encourage all of you be like this Andrew,
-
bring someone to Jesus. Andrew don't know everything yet. He's probably bad
-
in this theology. I don't know that this kidding, all right, not
-
this Andrew, right, you probably don't know it so much. But what
-
he knows is I'm going to bring someone to Jesus. Bring him to Jesus,
-
all right, bring him to church, right? And and when they
-
meet Jesus, their lives change. Amen? Amen? So happened on Andrew?
-
And this Andrew? That Andrew. They're doing food food, Yeah,
-
yeah, yeah, yeah. I want to tell you one more thing.
-
I wanta tell you one more thing. Okay, broken English, perhaps,
-
but actually don't we are you know? If not we all of us,
-
if not most of us are five loaves, or rather five balley loaves and
-
two tiny fish. Most of us, if all of us, are five
-
baly loaves and two tiny fish. Right, we're not much, we're not
-
much. Salve of us, a bit more honest to ourselves. Where she
-
just like that, just so so right, my boy, you'd like to
-
do that. How was the pizza? We're all like that. We're five
-
baly loaves and two fish. Not much, can't do much, can't give
-
much. But you know that's enough. That's more than enough for Jesus because
-
we know the story, right, what's going to happen. It's more than
-
enough for Jesus. Turned to your other neighbor. You haven't turned to a
-
and say you're more than enough for Jesus. Yeah, you are more than
-
enough for Jesus. Right, yes, you think you are just five loaves
-
and two fish. Hey, but it's enough. It's more than enough for
-
Jesus. Okay, let's go on, let's go on. Here we go.
-
Okay, Jesus said, have the people sit down. Have the people
-
sit down now there as there was much grass in that place. So the
-
men sat down, actually all of them are men and women, men,
-
women, children, all sat down, so they were there. I think
-
you've heard this before. It says five thousand, because those days they just
-
counted men. They didn't have time to count so many things, so they
-
just counted men first. But it represents women and children, so that amounts
-
to ten thousand plus because yeah, all right, okay, they were not
-
very good at math and sold, so they counted only until five digits.
-
Sorry for four digit my maths is out. Okay, So anyway, Uh,
-
what's what's this about? Have the people sit down? That's the first
-
in stress of instruction, Jesus gives, right, meaning he takes that five
-
loaves and two fish, and then he tells the disciples, get them to
-
sit down. Do you know he didn't promise I'm gonna feed you. He
-
didn't say, yeah, I'm gonna do something. He said, oh,
-
five loads, two fish, next one. Get them to sit down,
-
and not knowing what's going to happen, right, the disciples like just guessing,
-
I guess he's gonna do something with that, all right, or I
-
don't know, all right, but but they I think they've seen enough what
-
Jesus does, and so he's okay, let's just go faith. It's faith,
-
right, they go there goes. They're like leaders. They're like leaders.
-
The homes leaders, homes leaders and they say guys. Sit down,
-
sit down, sit down, many of them who were standing, and they
-
go like, what was this about? To sit down? Sit down?
-
Telling me to sit down? All right? And you know how many of
-
us know that a lot of men have ego, and they'd be like,
-
why are you telling me to sit down? What are you gonna do?
-
I don't know, feed you. I guess with what you know, right,
-
there's no promise, but I guess they also no Kate Jesus, I
-
saw him do stuff. That's why I followed him here. Okay, okay,
-
let's see what's gonna happen. They sit down. They sit down,
-
all right, and the disciples, the leaders had to lead, right,
-
sit down, sit down, sit down, all right? And everyone sat
-
down. In other versions, they say they sat on in groups. Sounds
-
like homes to me. Sounds like homes to me. I know you're not
-
part of homes. You're not part of the group. You're not sitting down.
-
You gotta sit down, all right. Everyone find homes to sit down,
-
all right. You know in Bahassa. In Bahassa, where you go
-
to someone's house, they say, sire dodo the ruma inny I stay in
-
this house, Sire do dot means sit I sit in this house? Literally
-
in Bahasa, si do do? I mean? Sometimes? But sire do
-
do you rum any I sit down in this house? Are you part of
-
our homes? Come on, everyone, all right, you gotta sit down,
-
all right? When Jesus tells us to sit down. So now it
-
requires humility. And you know, some people may not want to sit down.
-
Why I don't know why not? Whatever reason I said, sit down,
-
Yeah, it's okay, I'd like to stand all right. Maybe some
-
problem now problem sitting down? Okay, I understand. I think Jesus understands
-
that. Okay, guy, go promise sitting down. Let me heal him
-
first. Okay. But you know it's it's an instruction direction, you know,
-
discipleship sit down in groups, they sit down and uh, what's what
-
happens next? Next? For the week? Yes, okay, disciples had
-
instruct them to sit down. Those who won't humble themselves will go away hungry.
-
Let me tell you why those who don't won't humble themselves to sit down,
-
to be part of it, to join in, to listen to the
-
instruction, they're gonna go hungry. Why let me show you it's actually written
-
in the verses in the next versus the next verse, please UXTV excuse me.
-
Jesus then took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he
-
distributed them to those who were seats. Did you even ever notice that?
-
I was like, whoa, wow, it's actually very explicit. Those who
-
were seated only got it, don't know, standing or walked away. Maybe
-
they didn't. They're like, what you're doing, They walk away, go
-
home? Whatever, they didn't get it. It's those who were seated,
-
right, they distributed to them. No, I want to rewind bit here
-
here all right? Given thanks? You know just that I was saying,
-
many of us are five bally loaves and two fish, two tiny fish.
-
But you know, Jesus gives thanks for us once we're in his hands,
-
once we're in his hands. Right when you're not in the sense, I
-
don't know where he gives thanks. Maybe maybe he's still grateful, But when
-
you're in his hands, he gives thanks. Thank you Lord, thank you
-
Father for the five loaves and fish in my hands. For what he gives
-
thanks because firstly they're in his hands and he's thankful for whatever they are at
-
right now, they're five looks two fish. But he's so thankful for what
-
they are going to be, what they are going to become. They're going
-
to be. They're gonna be able to feed the multitude the five thousand and
-
beyond. Right, so he gives thanks when you're in his hands. And
-
then uh so, yeah, you know, those who seated got it.
-
And then look at this. So also the fish as much the bread and
-
a fish as much as they wanted. Let everyone say that as much as
-
they wanted. This is an amazing buffet. Right, although his humble food
-
lies bally Loaves. He didn't say he transformed into something else, all right,
-
but but you know Jesus makes it. It's quality bally loaves. I'm
-
sure it's quality fresh bally loaves. And even the the eCOM Billies was crunchy
-
and nice taste thing. I believe it. Okay, that's what I believe.
-
Okay, so right, he doesn't and it's as much as they wanted.
-
This is very significant. You know why in those days they had no
-
McDonald's, they had no pizza hut, no every no grab driver. Right,
-
Okay, of course there's this some cartoon, right if they were hungry,
-
right, they're called grab fill, right, But then this one us.
-
In those days, food was not enough. In those days, people
-
were struggling to make sure they ate enough because there was no mass production of
-
food, right, industry revolution not there yet, right, No no gardinia,
-
right, no bun massive you know, baking of buns. Every big
-
piece of food that you can get is so precious and valuable. So in
-
those days it's hard to get enough to eat. Nowadays, we're trying not
-
to eat it too much. We're trying to eat too much, just too
-
much food. Right, yet there's a lot of people still hungry, right,
-
and we're throwing. Okay, I don't feel bad, but it's true.
-
In those days, people are struggling to eat enough and to be able
-
to eat as much as they wanted. That itself was a miracle. That
-
was a miracle. Jesus did such an amazing miracle that day. They ate
-
and ate and ate got he still got more. Okay, And I'm not
-
used to this, like, I mean, you think non stop here,
-
and I'm so fool. I've never experienced this in my life. All right,
-
And you know that boy he had five loaves and two fish. I
-
don't know how big would the piece of stuff. Maybe too much for a
-
boy, right, maybe growing boy. Okay, But that day he ate
-
and ate and ate and ate, all right, it was so much.
-
He ate too much. He ate like we are we ate today, all
-
right? And uh, that was day Jesus traveled in time, you know,
-
like he brought everyone to the future. It's probably say, you know,
-
in the future two thousand years from now, everyone's gonna eat like this.
-
It's gonna be like buffets and all stuff like that McDonald's. I don't
-
know, okay, But he brought us to the future. And what's what's
-
next, what's next? Come? Jesus is thankful a right for the five
-
loaves two fish in his hands, That's what I was saying, and for
-
what it is and what it will be, because it's gonna feed so many
-
more. And today I think we're talking about it was spiritually we feel like
-
we're just five loaves and two fish, smarting enough for Jesus. He's gonna
-
take you, and he's gonna multiply you. You're gonna do more than you
-
think you thought you could do. Amen, moving on, moving on,
-
And when they had eaten their phil he told his disciples gather up the left
-
over fragments, that nothing may be lost. So they gathered them up and
-
filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five bally loaves left by those who had
-
eaten. So, um, what what is this about? You know?
-
After he had given them too much to eat earlier, they were like,
-
oh you know, Phil right, there was there was streuss, there was
-
leftovers. And I love this verse because it says, gathered up the left
-
over. Right, Jesus doesn't waste anything, all right, And I love
-
that that party says that nothing may be lost, nothing may be lost.
-
You know, salivers here, salvers here. You don't even think you're like
-
five those and two fish. You think I'm just like a leftover. I
-
think some leftover. Nobody looks at me, nobody remembers my name, nobody
-
notices me. You feel like a leftover? Just guess what. God wants
-
to gather you up, all right, so that you won't be lost,
-
so that you won't be lost. And he wants to gather up anyone or
-
anything that seems to be a leftover. Why, because there's more, there's
-
more to be fed, right, I don't I can you can only imagine
-
what he did with a leftover brela. I don't think he threw it in
-
the sea right, even at a fit the fish okay, fine, fine,
-
all right, But to get it up so much more all right?
-
And something was going to be done with the leftover that day. The disciples
-
experienced a miracle and Heaven ruled through them that day. Amen. We hope
