You're listening to a message to go from acts church. We hope this message
-
will light up your day. I want us share a little bit of the
-
Christmas story, just to remind us we all kind of know it, all
-
right, kind of there in our head. We see the pictures, all
-
right, Joseph, Mary, baby, Jesus, some animals in you know,
-
in a barn somewhere there, and you know, and you know the
-
star. Sometimes there's angels. Sometimes there's the wise men. Don't know how
-
many, don't know how many? Actually, all right, not really mentioned.
-
So I give you the answer to that already. So let's focus on
-
Matthew, Chapter one, verse eighteen, right now, just one verse for
-
now. Okay, I want to do a whole Bible study here today,
-
just a short reminder, and I hope you know the Holy Spirit speaks to
-
us. What does it say? So verse eighteen? Everyone got your bibles,
-
get flipped to it otherwise, actually you're putting up on somewhere right,
-
Yeah, okay, So what does it say? Yeah? Okay, here
-
goes. Now, the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way when
-
his mother Mary had been bethrotted. I hope that's the right way to say
-
previously be throthed, bethrothed Okay, sorry, okay, to Joseph. Before
-
they came together, she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit.
-
From who from the Holy Spirit. So that's very clearly written there where
-
this child is from. It's of course in mother in Mary's womb, but
-
it's from the Holy Spirit. It's not any man, it's not any other
-
person besides Joseph. Right, it's not Joseph himself. It is the Holy
-
Spirit. And it's not what I want to emphasize words this morning, you
-
know, Christmas and Jesus and this whole story is is really about the Holy
-
Spirit. What is the opposite of the Holy Spirit, or rather just you
-
know, because we've been saying holy night, right, silent night, Holy
-
night, oh, holy night, what is the opposite of holy? Evil?
-
Maybe? Yeah, evil? Yeah, that's immediately you think of these
-
things, right, evil? What else? What else? Patch? Stop?
-
Not holes? Okay, al right, okay, that's that's it.
-
That's something trying to be funny there. Okay, all right, okay,
-
but h O l y holy right and holy that's very simple opposite holy and
-
holy that you can think of all the unholy stuff that people like to do.
-
Can you think of the unholy stuff that people like to do? Not
-
you, right, but yeah, humans like to do unholy, impure,
-
unpure, what else evil? It's just the opposite, right, it's bad
-
stuff. It's the flesh. Sometimes we say it's the flesh the things against
-
the spirit. That's why the holy has always to do with the spirit,
-
right, I mean, the the you know, the Word of God will
-
always say the flesh is weak, the flesh wants to sin, the flesh
-
wants to live in darkness and hiding. But the spirit is willing the spirit
-
and wants to be holy. And so that's what I'm I'm these are are
-
some thoughts in my mind right now. And Jesus was conceived through the Holy
-
Spirit, by the Holy Spirit right in Mary's womb. And so every time
-
now I want us, you know, when we think about Jesus, we
-
got to think about the Holy Spirit, right sometimes, you know, I
-
mean I myself a long time ago. Every time I when I think about
-
Jesus, I want to celebrate Christmas. I want to praise Jesus. Jesus
-
because he came in human form, it's easier for us to understand because human
-
were human, right, But then when we talk about the Holy Spirit,
-
sometimes we feel a little bit like who's this Holy Spirit? All? Right?
-
Nowadays, I will tell you I speak in tongues a lot more.
-
When I was in Manma, I spoke in tongues like like like crazy.
-
You know why because when I went there, I saw Pastor Samuel, right,
-
and whenever he's praying, whenever he's because you know, in Manma,
-
I just tell you a little bit, the situation is challenging, right,
-
The situation is challenging, and you know, things are very expensive there.
-
To even get to church on Sunday is a miracle. I don't know how
-
they earn their money, because you know, many of them they have a
-
job, but they don't get paid much. But then they still make their
-
way to church and they're there, and so I feel so like privileged,
-
right uh and uh uh, So I was I was saying, you know,
-
when I'm whenever I'm with Pasta Samuel, he's always speaking in tongues.
-
He's always praised a Lord, you know, Holy Spirit. You know,
-
in my life, he's always emphasizing Holy Spirit in my life. And so
-
I was inspired as well, and I go like, yeah, I too
-
need the Holy Spirit more in my life. And so now, okay,
-
what was I What was I saying? You know, when we talk about
-
Jesus kind of easier to understand because he's human, right, as in like
-
giving human form. But then we come the Holy Spirit. There's no physical
-
form of the Holy Spirit, right, and so we feel a little bit
-
like who is this right? A little bit strange as well where we hear
-
the name. But then I want us to get comfortable with the Holy Spirit.
-
I want us to get close to the Holy Spirit. I want us
-
to, you know, according to the Word of God, speaking tongues be
-
acquainted with the Holy Spirit. You know why every time we talk, say
-
to what speaking tongues? It gets uncomfortable. What is that? Aren't you
-
just blabbering or something like that? But I tell you truth. Hold Apostle
-
Paul in First Corinthines says, I speak in tongues more than any of you.
-
That's what he said, all right, So then you imagine what does
-
he saying? What is actually saying? Some people argue speaking tongues is actually
-
speaking another language like Italian or or or I don't know, Greek, maybe
-
Chinese. All right, they're speaking another language. As there's an argument,
-
right, I don't want to say right wrong, whatever right you want to
-
think. That way you're arguing with is fine. But I think about it.
-
I go, like Paul says, I speak in tongues more than any
-
of you. What does that mean? Is he speaking Italian? Right?
-
When he says that, I understand what he says. Is I speak in
-
tongues not only in church. I speak in tongues at home. I speak
-
in tongues when I'm walking to work. I speak in tongues when I'm going
-
whatever I'm doing anything. I'm praying. Why because it's the language of the
-
Holy Spirit, and he wants to he's praying. He's always constantly praying,
-
and sometimes he's limited in his language. He has no words to say.
-
He just praises God with whatever that comes out of his mouth. Amen.
-
So then I think about it. You see, if we want to argue
-
about like his language, whatever is he speaking Italian? Like he's at home
-
speaking Italian to God and Chinese? Maybe that all right, but it doesn't
-
matter because he's doing it at home and it's between him and God. And
-
so that's why I'm getting comfortable with speaking with the Holy Spirit in the language
-
of the Holy Spirit. And it's not for anyone here, It's for me
-
and the Lord. And so I want to have more of the Holy Spirit
-
in my life. Amen. And so I mean one of the ways is
-
speaking tangsa all right. The other ways, I guess I don't know if
-
you see the fruit of the Spirit in someone. Amen. And so I
-
don't want to take too much longer, but I want to say, you
-
know, the birth of Jesus, the story here verse eighteen says that when
-
how did Jesus come? Or you know, how was Jesus consided in the
-
womb of Mary. It's the Holy Spirit, all right. And I want
-
to close right now, actually in prayer. And I want to open this
-
time right now. Maybe can everyone standing. I want to get Keith come
-
in, do the guitar here. Things I think I can do silent night.
-
It's fine, Saturday night, Hallelujah. And I want to open this
-
time. Maybe we'll do a time of prayer. And uh, you know,
-
I don't want anyone here to go home after this, just you know,
-
had a good Christmas celebration that said done. I want to open this
-
time for prayer. And if you are going through something, you want to
-
pray about it. You want the Holy Spirit to come into your life and
-
change and transform things around for you, you know, according to His word,
-
according to his his spirit. Let let let's do that this morning.
-
Amen. So the opposite of holy was what again? Unholy, impure,
-
unrighteous darkness. And we want to we want to go. We don't want
-
to go that way. We want to go holy, We want to go
-
righteous. We want to go Jesus. We want to go spirit, not
-
the flesh. So whatever your flesh might be telling you, let's push that
-
way. He said, no, no, flesh, I'm not gonna let
-
you take control of my life. I'm going to allow the Holy Spirit to
-
take control of my life. Amen. We hope you've been blessed by this
-
message. For more information on our church, please visit as church dot org.
