Missions Sword Alignment | Dr Jill

You're listening to a message to go from at church.

We hope this message will light up your day. So

some months we don't have a particular focus. Some months

we do right and then this month we have two focuses.

And you're wondering, are you why this Monday keep asking

me to go for a missions conference? Why this Monday

force me to fast and pray? No, we didn't force you.

We just invite you to join us. You may feel

it's a lot for you, but I'm telling you, counting

and honor that God has given you a sword and

he's asking you to sharpen it. And these are the

two sides that He wants us to sharpen. And so

the other side is the side of our prayer and fast.

So one side missions is about the world around us.

But when we talk about praying and fasting, it's touching

the world inside of us. Can you see that God

wants us to sharpen our inner world and our outer world,

our inner world and our outer world. God is a

very balanced god. He wants us to sharpen our inner

world and also our outer world. Some people sharpen their

inner world so much, very holy, very religious. But you

ask them to love their neighbor. Nothing comes out of it.

You ask them to go for missions, even more nothing

comes out of it. Some people are very good at

sharpening the outer world, keep doing good works, keep going,

keep serving, keep going for missions. But then when you

ask them about how is your personal world with God,

they may not be doing their quiet time. Maybe the

last they spoke to Jesus was months ago. So God

wants us to sharpen both our inner world and our

outer world. Then we can be an effective sword that

he can use any time, any angle to cut through

every heart for him. Amen. Amen, we just hold on

on this. So this is a really part of the message. Okay, Yes, alignment,

so that we are all on the same page. This

is already part of the message. Don't treat all this

as opening announcements. This is already part of God's word

to us. I have more. Let's see how much how

far we can go, because I want to make time

to pray for us today. Okay. And so you may

be wondering, like why this year we are so big

on getting our whole church too fast and pray together.

You know every year we definitely fast and pray at

the beginning of the year, which is twenty one days

before Good Friday, and we call it the U Turn

and Prayer. And then you're wondering, how come now we

are doing it again second time in the year, but

this time is longer. It's forty days. I thought we

already fasted once a year. Enough, once a year, enough,

Well I do twice a year and then double the

time some more. Okay, now I tell you why. Okay.

So every year we do encourage our church to participate

in the n ECF Fast and Prayer where all the churches,

all the Christians in Malaysia are invited to come and

fast and pray together for the land. Okay. This has

been going on for many years now, and every year

ex Church also prays along with all the churches in Malaysia.

We fast along as well, but we have not in

a way rarely the whole church so strongly like this year.

This year. So I think about perhaps a month ago,

we had a team of profit that came to speak

in our Subangjaiya ten thirty am service, and so the

team of prophets brought a word from God for our

church and basically God is calling X Church to seek

him specifically through a time of forty day fast and prayer.

So God has given us very clear instructions He has

called X Church, which is you and I to seek

more of Him through a forty day fast and prayer,

and then God will reveal more. God will pour out

more because He wants to position us supernaturally to really

be like the Book of X modern day to really wow,

be full of the Holy Spirit, you know, to to

really you know even yeah, perform signs and wonders for

the Kingdom of God so that all will come to

know Him. But we got to seek him first. Then

He will show us. He will empower us. It's like

a game, right you play those of you who like

video games, you have to unlock level one before you

get to level two. Then you have to unlock level

two before you get to level three. So same. So

this forty day first and prayer is the first level

for us to unlock. As we do it together, then

God will unlock the next level. He will give us,

you know, more of his words, then more of his

Holy Spirit, power, more of his science and wonders, and

we become the modern day Church of the Book of X.

Where many were added to them daily because of the

Holy Spirit in them. Amen. So this is why we're

doing this, and I want to tell you that God

is definitely doing something special. Can I borrow the NECF booklet?

So what happened was when did we start our first day? Seventh?

And that was the reason Thursday? And so on Thursday,

day one of our fast and prayer, what happened was

that morning I was seeing patients in the clinic, and

then I finished seeing them, I had my lunch break

and I felt led to just go to a quiet

meeting room by myself and use my lunch break to

seek more of God. And I did that, and I

had a really good time downloading from God for X

chapter one and maybe if God allows, I'll share that

revelation another day. And I got time to just worship

Him and pray, praying understanding praying tongues. Then I went

back to office in the afternoon. I was sitting on

my desk doing my work, and suddenly, so I sit

in a cluster of six desk okay one, two, three, four, five, six,

That is my island. I call it a cluster of

six desks in our extrach Aya office. So I'm sitting

at this far corner here at tree something, typing away,

doing my work faithfully, quietly, and then suddenly I hear

my colleague who's sitting at this far and call me.

So she says, doctor Jill, doctor Jill. She tried to

get my attention. And so I was deep in my

work and I heard a voice that I looked at her.

I'm like, oh, okay, yes, Va, that's her name, and

she says, do you have a moment to spare? Are

you busy? And I said, I have a moment to spare?

What is it? And I thought she was going to

ask me work related stuff because she is part of

the accounts department and I work closely with her for

our Linettes projects, so she helps me to actually keep

accounts of all that we do. So and she by

nature is a very introverted lady, so normally she will

she hardly asked me questions, and even if she does,

is work related. I'm the one that will normally, you know,

approach her more, even in an informal sense, non work related.

So I thought, okay, she's gonna ask me a work question,

and then to my surprise, you know what she asked

me she said, hey, doctor Jill, the reason Tuesday right

the town hall meeting, Passa Sandra spoke about you all

starting to fast and pray for Malaysia. What is it

all about? Can you tell me more about it? And

she is not of a Christian faith, she's of another faith, right,

And so she is now shouting across not shouting, she's

speaking across the table asking me a non work related question,

asking me what is this fast and prayer for Malaysia

all about? Can do you have a few minutes to

tell me more? And so I immediately dropped everything that

I had. I said, God, this is your golden moment

for me to share more about you with her. And so,

thank God, on my table, I had this physical copy

and I woked up, I took it and I went

all the way to her table and I said, you've

a Do you have a few minutes now? And she

said yeah, yeah, yeah, And so she also dropped her

work and I said, so I shared with her. Okay,

so you know, all the Christians and the churches in

Malaysia are actually taking time to fast and pray for

the welfare of our land because you know, we have

so many problems, right and she said yeah, yeah, yeah.

And I said, you know, many of the problems we

cannot solve, right say, yeah, yeah yeah. I say, that's

why we need Jesus. Only he can solve our problems.

And I said, you know, we also prayed that Malaysia

will come to know the love of Jesus. Yes, And

then I somehow felt led to flip through the pages

and I can't find a page now, but it's in

my book, but basically there was. I say, you know,

every day we have a guided prayer point what to

pray for Malaysia. And suddenly the Holy Spirit led me

to a particular page that says, pray for the implementation

of E invoicing E invoicing. So those of you you

know this, you know this? You don't know? Never mind,

go back and google. I will not teach you now.

And so she's in the account's department. She is busy

trying to iron out our organization's transition into E invoicing,

and I said, hey, you are you know there's even

a prayer point here for the smooth implementation and transition

of E invoicing and she got shot, huh you mean

your pray so specifically, I say yes. Then another page

that the Holy Spirit led me to turn to was

a page on praying for employees' work life balance. And

so this colleague of mine, she's been off work a lot,

she's been unwell a lot, and I personally think maybe

it's more than just physical, but maybe it could be

related to work stress. That's my personal opinion, and so slid, Yeah,

God led me to share with her, Hey, we're also

praying for all the employees working in Malaysia to have

good work life balance for their well being. And she

also her eyes lighted up. And I also flip another

page and the Holy Spirit led me to share this

prayer point with her, how we're praying for children who

have been abused in our land in darkness under evil.

And then they also caught her heart right, and so

she was like, wow, you mean you guys actually take time,

you sacrifice to pray for our land in such specific ways.

I believe a seat has been sown in her that afternoon,

and uh and then yeah, and then after that I

went on to share with her the different ways of

fast things. When she asked, do you just fast food

or your fast other things? Yeah, And so she was

so curious, and so I chatted with her a bit

more and then I say, okay, you know what, let's

let's let's meet more and talk more. But amazing, on

the first day of our fast and prayer, God already

opened a door for me to share about him to

someone who doesn't know him yet. Amen. And so I

to me, that was a personal sign that God is

really doing something even during this forty day and fast.

So if you haven't join in, you can do it

today tomorrow. And I know some of us maybe haven't

had a great start to the fast and prayer. You know.

I think Roading was sharing that he and Grace tried

to pray together on the first day and then stally

he got phone call Lar and then she had to

go and pick the kids La, And so it's like

he said, honestly, it wasn't a great start, but it's okay.

It's not how we start the race, but how we

end the race that matters. You know. During the VA

Sports Day, Judah was running the hundred meters but okay,

he did well, he did well, he didn't he did

he wasn't number one. But there was another guy next

to Judah. His name is Tyrell. He's from extras and

so Tyrel. So every all the runners you know on

your marks, get set go. All had a good start

for the hundred meter race. But Tyrel he actually slipped

because the ground in front of him was muddy. So

I have a video shooting Judah and he was in

the video and he slipped on his first mark. But

then you know what, later on he actually caught up

with the race and he overtook the rest and he

became number one all the hundred meters champion race. So

it's God reminded me of this story this morning as

I was preparing. He said, it's not about even how

we start the race, is how we end the race. Okay. So, friends,

I want to invite you to come and join us

in his forty day first and prayer you haven't and

even if you haven't had a great start, it's okay

because it's how you end the race that matters, not

so much how you start the race. Okay, all right,

so be encouraged. Wow, God, this is how you're speaking.

Go for it. I thought, Holy Spirit Lord, you just

take over. I will prepare and you just take over.

Maybe we can only share one point today but it's okay,

all good, Let's move on to Okay, the exchich logo.

So if you haven't seen, this is our ex chang logo.

And we are called ex church because we really God

has called us to be like the church in the

Book of X filled with the X of the Holy Spirit. Yes,

and so today the message that God has downloaded to

me is from the Book of X. The first three

chapters of the Book of X X chapter one, chapter two,

chapter three. Let's see how far we can go. All right, now,

I believe that if you've joined us for our forty

day fast and prayer, you would have also read X

chapter one, two and three, So this should be a

revision for you. Okay, Now let's move to the next slide.

So today God has given us three points. They all

start with the letter S. Everybody say S. Okay, and

each chapter has one S point for us to learn. Okay,

let's okay, let's all take out our bibles, our Bibles.

If you can your physical Bible, we encourage you to

bring to have your physical Bible. If not, then okay,

e bible. And if not that you can look at

the screen. Okay, So let's go to X Chapter one,

and let's go to verse four. Let's go to verse four.

X Chapter one, Verse four, and let's read verse four

and verse five. I will read it out for us aloud. Okay,

here we go. And while staying with them, he ordered

them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for

the promise of the Father, which he said you heard

from me verse five. For John baptized with water, but

you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many

days from now. Okay, then we go on to verse eight.

Jump down to verse eight. But you will receive power

when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you

will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judaea

and Samaria and to the end of the earth. Okay,

we'll stop there now. So in X Chapter one we

read about how Jesus spent forty days on earth with

his disciples, teaching them about the Kingdom of God before

Jesus ascended back to heaven. So chapter one starts with

the tail end of Jesus's time on earth just a

few verses. But the highlight of EX. Chapter one is

actually the Holy Spirit, because in Ex. Chapter one is

when God, when Jesus told his disciples to wait for

the promise of the Father, which is the Holy Spirit,

to come upon you. And he said, wait, wait for

the person of the Holy Spirit to come upon you.

Why then you will experience the power of the Holy Spirit.

Why so that you can be my witnesses. And so

the first s from x chapter one is spirit. Everyone

says Spirit, Spirit. In these forty days of fast and prayer.

And from this time on, what does God want to

do in our lives. He wants to increase his Holy

Spirit in our lives. For those of us who have

the Holy Spirit in our lives, he wants to increase it.

Just now we sang, right, Holy Spirit, take me deeper

with you. And for those of us who have not

been baptized by the Holy Spirit, been filled with the

Holy Spirit, God wants to fill us with the Holy Spirit.

He wants to baptize us with the Holy Spirit. Do

you know that you can believe in Jesus, but you

may not be baptized in the Holy Spirit yet. So

today this is a call and encouragement. If there's any

one of us here. We have not been baptized in

the Holy Spirit, we have not been filled immersed, baptize

means to dip the whole thing into a dye solution.

Baptize comes from the word baptizo. Baptisto means it's like

you take a piece of cloth and you put it

in a dye liquid. You dip it all the way.

It goes in white color, it comes out great color.

Goes in white color, comes out purple color. So to

be baptized by the Holy Spirit is our whole lives

immersed in Him, and we come out being filled with him.

He leads us, he empowers us, He moves in and

through us. We are His color, colored by the Holy Spirit,

baptized by the Holy Spirit, colored by the Holy Spirit,

ready to be used by Him. Amen. And so we're

going to spend time praying. Later we will open the altar.

Our leaders be ready to pray. If any of you

desire to be baptized by the Holy Spirit, come up

and be prayed for. We will be more than happy

to pray for you. Okay, But I want to caution

us here. You know, many times when we talk about

the Holy Spirit, what comes to your mind? Shout out,

shout out your honest opinion. Fire, Okay, Olivia, what else

comes to your mind? When we say Holy Spirit, helper,

I heard conscience, conscience, power. Okay, thank you, So you

are all right. When we say the Holy Spirit, we

think of him as our helper. We think of him

as our conscience teach us to do what's right and wrong.

We think of him as fire, as power. You are

all right, but you know these are all the manifestations

of the Holy Spirit, meaning that, can I show the

picture of who is this? Who is this celebrity chef?

Who is this celebrity chef? Tell me what's his name?

He attends ex Cybergaya. That's right. What is this celebrity

chef's name? Andrew? Andrew? Hang, you're right? And so this

picture was taken at one of our leaders meeting earlier

this year. And Andrew, he loves to eat, but better still,

he loves to cook. Ah, so woo to us who

like to eat but cannot cook. Okay, yes, but it's

just kidding, just kidding, but yeah, such a blessing. So

he loves to eat, but thank God, he loves to

cook as well. So he doesn't just take, but he

gives back to the world. Ah, and Andrew, he can

do many things with food, but personally one of my

personal favorites or many of us is his sour dough bread.

How many of you have tasted Andrew's sour dough bread? Okay, okay, Andrew,

you see many hands not lifted yet. Ah, you know

what to do? Ah, okay, okay, no pressure. Sorry, I

know your fast hours are fast thing, but it's okay.

Bread of life. Okay, bread of life? Yes, think of

it that way. Now, imagine Andrew as the Holy Spirit. Imagine, imagine,

and imagine every slice there. Each slice carries a benefit

to us. One slice is represents the help of the

Holy Spirit. One slice represents the conscience of the Holy Spirit.

One size one slize represents the power or the fire

of the Holy Spirit. And many more slices that represent

the different abilities of the Holy Spirit. Many times we

seek after the Holy Spirit for his abilities, his power.

But do we seek after the Holy Spirit as a person.

Can you imagine now all you do when you see

Andrew is Andrew beg bread for me? Where's your bread?

Where's your bread? Where's your brain? Never even say hi, Andrew?

Good morning? Andrew? How are you? I know you went

well yesterday? How are you feeling today? Can I pray

for you, I want to go young child, you know

your families? Yeah, you get my point. How many of

us are when we approach a person, we are only

after there what they can offer us. We don't even

acknowledge the person. We don't even treat the person as

a person. We're only after what they can offer us.

I mean, there's some people like that in the world,

but I hope that we're not like that. Like, okay,

we should seek the person for who the person is,

and a blessing and bonus that comes out of your

relationship is the goodness that the person can offer you.

So because Passega and I know Andrew for many years,

from the time he was a UM student to you know,

a young working adult to marrying Olivia to having Anderson

and Aleen. Because we know him for many years, the

byproduct of our friendship is he blesses us with sour

dough braid. He can also bake panatoni Okay, very nice, yeah,

Italian braid ita Aalian bred. Yes, But we never set

out to know Andrew many years ago because we know

he can bake good braid. We genuinely wanted to know

Andrew and build friendship with him. And years later we've

got to enjoy his braid. So can we also, in

a way adopt a similar mindset to the Holy Spirit.

Let's not just seek after and run after what he

can offer us his ability, his power, but let's seek

after the person of the Holy Spirit. And this is

what we are passing out even in our hurdles. If

you look at the let's go back to X chapter one,

verse and I think I'm just going to stop with

this for today. Okay, this one point, because the Holy

Spirit wants to move to prayer. Let's go to EC

chapter one, verse four. Look at the words in orange

that are highlighted. Jesus told his disciples, you will be

baptized with the Holy Spirit. Jesus didn't say you will

be baptized with the abilities of the Holy Spirit. He

didn't say you will be baptized by the power of

the Holy Spirit. He said you will be baptized with

the Holy Spirit. So Jesus is offering the Holy Spirit

as a whole person to us. Then later on in

verse eight, which is a very famous verse that we

love to quote, let's jump to verse eight and then

he says yes. And then after that you will receive

the power, the ability, what the Holy Spirit can offer you.

But can you notice that even the order of how

Jesus talks about the Holy Spirit, he talks about seeking

the Holy Spirit as a person first, then only the

power of the Holy Spirit follows. And so today maybe

extreme you can come up now. Yeah, we're going to

close in prayer. We're going to allow some time for

prayer the Holy Spirit to move today. I really believe

God is calling us to a place where we seek

after the Holy Spirit as a person and not just

after his power, because as we grow our relationship with

the Holy Spirit, we will automatically experience his power. But

we don't want to be seeking after the power of

the Holy Spirit and ignoring him as a person. Because

in the world of God, it also is written, do

not grieve the Holy Spirit, do not make the Holy

Spirit said. Holy Spirit can also feel said, but let's

seek the Holy Spirit as a person. And how that's

going to look like? I don't have all the answers

for you, but this is the time. As you fast

and prayer, fast and pray, we say, Holy Spirit, can

you show me more of you as a person? Can

you help me to seek you more? As a person.

I don't just want to seek what you have to

offer me, but I want to seek your heart. I

want to please you, Holy Spirit. Just just have your

way in and through me. So that's the first ass

I think very quickly, I'll give you the other two essays. Okay,

you can just take this down the versus. Okay. The

nextess is, actually, let's jump straight to that slide. Speak.

So when we are baptized in the Holy Spirit, when

we are filled with the Holy Spirit, how we speak

will also change. And first the Holy Spirit will give

us the gift of tongues. We will be able to

speak in time. Tongues is the language of the Holy Spirit.

It's a heavenly it's a supernatural language. We don't understand it,

but God understands it. It's like almost a secret coded

language that God uses between us and Him to pray

the mysteries and the marvel of God. We can look

at X chapter Yeah, take down this verses X chapter two,

verse four, where it says, and they were all filled

with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other

tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance X chapter two,

verse four. You can mark it down The other verse

that I want you to mark down is X chapter two,

verse eleven. The second part of it. We hear them

telling in our own tongues the Mighty Works of God.

Tongues is not a foolish blabber of language. It is

a heavenly language where we pray what is beyond understanding

and wisdom into the heavenly is. To God, we're declaring

his praises in a language that is beyond us. We

are asking Him for help in a language beyond us.

How many of you sometimes you don't even know how

to pray because your situation is just so difficult. You've

been zepped of your strength. You've exhausted your vocabulary or prayer.

Pray in tongues. Let the Holy Spirit pray the words

that you don't even know how to pray. Let the

Holy Spirit give you that strength, energy, and power that

you have lost. Let the Holy Spirit take over your

prayer life as you pray in tongues. Right, and you know,

after after being baptized by the Holy Spirit, not only

do we receive the gift of tongues, but we receive

the gift of being able to speak out His truth

in understanding in wisdom, you can take down this versus.

So in act chapter two, verse fourteen, it says, but Peter,

standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them.

And later it's a long speech that Peter gave in

wisdom and understanding. So when we have the Holy Spirit,

we don't just pray in tongues, but we will be

able to pray, we will be able to speak in truth.

Maybe many of us here we are scared to be

leaders in the House of God because we wonder, how

can I counsel someone? What if I say the wrong thing?

Some of us maybe are scared to show the world

that we are Christians because it's like, what if they

ask me for advice? How do I know the right

thing to say to them? But don't be afraid, because

when you are baptized with the Holy Spirit, you're filled

with the Holy Spirit, you will know what to say.

The Holy Spirit will lead you to say his truth,

the right thing at the right time, two his sheep,

and also to the loss in the world. So don't

be afraid. The Holy Spirit will give you wisdom. Okay, okay.

And then the next the final s is supernatural that

comes from X chapter three so X Chapter three. Let's

jump to the slide. The first slide so X chapter three.

It talks about how Peter and John went to the

temple of God to pray, and they saw a lame man,

and the lame man asked them for money, but they said,

silver and gold have I none, but in the name

of Jesus Christ, rise up and walk. That is verse six.

It's the key us X chapter three, Verse six. And

the world in us is in great need. Everyone has

needs and people are asking us, can you help me

meet my needs? Can you help me solve my problem? Yes,

if we can do it in a physical way, let's

do it. The good works that we can do, let

us do it, the wisdom that we can offer, let

us do it, but honestly, right like I told my colleague,

the many problems and needs that we have honestly as humans,

It's be honest. We can't solve many of the problems

and needs. Only Jesus can. That's why Peter and John

did not give them an earthly solution in silver and gold.

Peter and John gave them an all time solution through

Jesus Christ. And so the world may come to you

and asking for alms, help me with a practical solution.

We may or may not be able to offer that

practical help if we can do it. But if we can, say,

I may not be able to help you in a

practical way, but I can point you to Jesus in

whom you will find the answer to your problem. And

this is what Peter and John did. And so that's

the final as supernatural. When we are baptized, we are

filled with the Holy Spirit, we will be able to

offer the world more than just a practical solution. We

will be able to offer the world a perfect solution,

which is our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. And so today

I want to encourage us to desire and to be

filled with more of the Holy Spirit, and to grow

in praying in tongues, to grow in the wisdom and

speaking His truth the right thing at the right time,

to grow in offering the world a supernatural so much more,

why so that the war will come to know Jesus. Amen.
