Good evening. Welcome to Voice in the Wilderness. I'm Don Noble with Pure
-
Heart Ministries, and I welcome you today with exceedingly abundantly and overflowing joy.
-
Before I start, I am going to keep reminding you. We have a
-
Bible study Wednesday nights, six p m. We meet at Top Hat Pools
-
and Stoves, twenty two fifty eight Main Street, Wheeling, West Virginia.
-
You need to come. I mention this on January first, how important it
-
is for you to sit under anointed teaching. And I even mentioned, you
-
know, let's just start something new. You know you need to start.
-
You need to move out of the old end of the new right. So
-
I want to see you come to Bible study. We'll be waiting on you.
-
This is part four of bees Still and Know that I Am God.
-
Last week I talked about Jacob and his wrestling with God. This same Jacob
-
had another dramatic encounter with God. Again he was alone with God. It
-
was another be still moment. So let's read in Genesis twenty eight, verses
-
ten through nineteen about what happened. And this is out of the New King
-
James. And by the way, everything after this that I read is going
-
to be out of the amplified version. But this is the new king James,
-
Verse ten, Genesis twenty eight. Now Jacob went out from Bear Sheeba
-
and went toward Haran. So he came to a certain place and stayed there
-
all night because the sun had set. And he took one of the stones
-
of that place and put it at his head, and he lay down in
-
that place to sleep. Then he dreamed, and behold, ladder was set
-
up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven. And there the
-
angels of God were ascending and descending on it. And behold the Lord stood
-
above it and said, I am the Lord, God of Abraham, your
-
father and God and the God of Isaac. The land on which you lie,
-
I will give it to you and your descendants. Also, your descendants
-
shall be as the dust of the earth. You shall spread abroad to the
-
west and the east, to the north and the south. And in you
-
and in your seed, all the families of the earth shall be blessed.
-
Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and
-
will bring you back to this land. For I will not leave you until
-
I have done what I have spoken to you. Then Jacob awoke from missleep
-
and said, surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not
-
know it, And he was afraid, and said, how awesome is this
-
place. This is none other than the House of God, and this is
-
the gate of Heaven. Then Jacob rose early in the morning and took the
-
stone that he had put at his head and set it up as a pillar
-
as a memorial, and poured oil on top of it. And he called
-
the name of that place Bethel. But the name of that city had been
-
LUs previously. So this was a purposeful set aside time that Jacob had,
-
and you and I have to have a daily, purposeful set aside time with
-
God. God. As Jacob stayed there, resting with his hat on the
-
rock and being still, he fell asleep, God gave it a spectacular dream
-
that you and I would love to have had. Well maybe you wouldn't,
-
but I'm a dreamer, and that would have been a pretty wow dream.
-
The covenant God gave to Abraham was once again reiterated to Jacob. So we
-
see in those set of scriptures the same words that God spoke to Abraham,
-
and now he's reiterating what he said to Abraham to Jacob, and those words
-
had to assure Jacob that God was not only with him, but that God
-
would fulfill everything he said. When Jacob poured the oil on the stone,
-
this was a sign of consecration. It was a marker of God's faithfulness.
-
And not only did it mark the peace of earth, but it marked Jacob's
-
heart. And I would just say this to you when you are in those
-
be still moments, God's going to mark your heart guaranteed. Now today I
-
want to conclude the prophetic word for twenty twenty four be still and know that
-
I am God Psalm forty six ten by sharing another description in Hebrew of that
-
word still, which means resting place. It even means final resting place and
-
also cessation. So let's talk about the final resting place. When you hear
-
that phrase final resting place, you immediately think of some one who has died,
-
Like we often say, their final resting place is in such and such
-
cemetery. As we are being still in our quiet place, abiding in God's
-
presence, I want you to focus on a very important principle that Paul the
-
Apostle teaches us in Romans six three through six. Not all the scriptures that
-
I'm going to be speaking about today and concluding this whole thing are going to
-
be things about literally dying to self and helping you to understand a very important
-
principle. So here we go. Romans, Chapter six, Verses three through
-
six. Paul says, are you ignorant of the fact that all of us
-
who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death. We were
-
buried therefore with him by the baptism and too death, so that just as
-
Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, so
-
we too might habitually live and behave in the newness of life. For if
-
we have become one with Him by sharing a death like his, we shall
-
also be one with him in sharing his resurrection by a new life lived for
-
God. We know that our old, unrenewed self was nailed to the cross
-
with him in order that our body, which is the instrument of sin,
-
might be made ineffective and inactive for evil, that we might no longer be
-
slaves of sin. Listen, if you can wrap your brain around these next
-
set of scriptures I'm going to be sharing. I mean they're heavy duty,
-
and sometimes you just you know, you have to really stop and slowly go
-
over them and slowly absorb what the Holy Spirit is teaching you. But here
-
it is Paul is really concerned about the Roman Church because he's saying, did
-
you like forget you know, are you ignorant of that? Did you forget
-
that you were baptized into Christ and baptized into His death buried with him?
-
Did you forget that your old man, that old unrenewed self was nailed to
-
the cross with him. So that's a really powerful visual if you think about
-
all of your sin being nailed to the cross and thinking about being buried with
-
him, and then thinking about being raised from the dead with him. I
-
mean, it's it's pretty awesome. It's it's very powerful. Philippians one twenty
-
one. Paul says this, for me, to live is Christ his life
-
in me, and to die, to physically die is gain gaining the there's
-
the gaining of the glory of eternity. So that's what happens when we when
-
we live for Christ, we are recognizing that that old man and all the
-
sin has been nailed to the cross. When we physically die, when we
-
leave this earth, we're going to be gaining the glory of eternity. Paul
-
goes on. He says, for for I, through the law, under
-
the operation of the curse of the law, have in Christ's death, for
-
me myself died to the law and all the laws demands upon me, so
-
that I may henceforth live to and fore God. Okay, let me make
-
a little more sense of that. Paul's just saying this. He said,
-
when I was under the law, I was under the operation of the curse
-
of the law. But now that I've died to the law, in all
-
of law, the law's demands upon me. Now now he's saying, I
-
can live to and fore God. Verse twenty, he says, I've been
-
crucified with Christ. In him, I've shared his crucifixion. It is no
-
longer I who live at Christ. The Messiah lives in me and the life
-
I now live in the body. I live by faith in, by adherence
-
to and reliance on and complete trust in the Son of God who loved me
-
and gave himself up for me. Again, think about that, he says,
-
in him, I've shared his crucifixion. Well, if Paul shared in
-
the crucifiction of Christ. You and I shared in the same crucifixion. Dead
-
dead. We are dead to sin, We are dead to the flesh.
-
We are dead to ourself. Because Paul says it no longer I who lives,
-
but Christ in me. You don't have to worry about living. You
-
have Christ in you and now because we shared in His crucifixion. Aha.
-
That is the crux of the crucified life. See understanding that we shared in
-
his crucifixion and the life that you and I now live in this present physical
-
body. We are going to live by faith in number one, and reliance
-
on number two, and complete trust in number three. In Jesus, who
-
loved us and gave himself up for us. That's a game changer. That's
-
a game changer, you see, because we are in Him. Ephesians one,
-
says Paul, writing to the church at Ephesus. He says, in
-
Him, in Christ, we have redemption. What's redemption, deliverance and salvation.
-
In Him, we have redemption through his blood, the remission of our
-
sins, the removal of our sins in accordance with the riches of His grace
-
which he made abound toward us. Now that's good news, right. Think
-
about that, Because we're in him, we have deliverance and salvation through His
-
blood, through the blood he shed on the cross, which removed our sins,
-
and with the riches of his grace which he made abound to you and
-
I, that wonderful grace, that unmerited favor is abounding toward us. Hallelujah.
-
Ephesians one four says, just as he chose us in him. Do
-
you realize that the scripture says, they're in Ephesians one that before the foundation
-
of the world, he chose us in him. He already knew us.
-
He knew your name, He knew all about you before you were even a
-
thought in your mother and father's mind, before you were ever even a thought,
-
he already chose us in him. M I tell you, Paul goes
-
on for in him the whole fullness of deity. Now this is this is
-
this is heavy duty. You're going to have a hard time wrapping your brain
-
around this. For in him, the whole fullness of deity, the Godhead
-
continues to dwell in bodily form, giving complete expression of the divine nature.
-
And you and me are in him made fool and having come to fullness of
-
life in Christ, you too are filled with the Godhead, Father, Son,
-
and Holy Spirit and reach full spiritual spiritual stature. And He is the
-
head of all and authority of every angelic principality and power. Oh my goodness,
-
for in Him the whole fullness of the Godhead dwells, continues to dwell
-
in bodily form. That's you and I are filled with the Godhead. We
-
have the fullness, the fullness of life. The fullness of the Godhead is
-
in us, the fullness of God the Father, the fullness of the Son
-
Jesus Christ, the fullness of the Holy Spirit Verse eleven. In him.
-
Also, you were circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, but in
-
a spiritual circumcision performed by Christ by stripping off the body of the flesh,
-
the whole corrupt carnal nature with its passions and luss Holy Moses. So we're
-
not talking about physical circumcision which men undergo. We're talking about spiritual circumcision that
-
God does in us. And Christ does a spiritual circumcision when we are in
-
Him by stripping off the flesh. Think of that picture, Just think of
-
the picture of your flesh being stripped off. See when you're in the be
-
still moment, when you're in that bee still place and you read these scriptures,
-
you're going to see. You're going to see the old man being stripped
-
off of you. Off of your flesh, your corrupt carnal nature, with
-
its passions and luss are going to be stripped off of you. Verse twelve.
-
Thus you are circumcised. When now this is when you were circumcised.
-
You're wondering when when did that happen? Oh, Paul says, you were
-
buried with him in your baptism, in which you were also raised with him
-
to a new life through your faith in the working of God, as displayed
-
when he raised him up from the dead. And you who were dead in
-
trespasses and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, your sensuality, your sinful carnal
-
nature, God brought to life together with Christ, having freely forgiven us all
-
our transgressions. Man, you ought to be shouting, look look at what
-
he did here, Look at what He did for you and I. We
-
were dead. Listen, before you knew Christ, before I knew Christ,
-
we were dead in sin and we were dead in the uncircumcision of our flesh,
-
all that sensuality, all that carnal nature, all that corrupt passions and
-
luss. But God circumcised us when we were buried with him, and then
-
we were raised with him to a new life. Wow. And he brought
-
to life together with Christ. He brought us to life, having freely forgiven
-
us all our transgressions. You didn't pay a dime to get born again.
-
You didn't pay a dime for all your sins, your transgressions to be forgiven.
-
No, it was freely given. It was a free gift from Christ
-
to you and I. You paid nothing to be free of all that ugly,
-
filthy sin and all that carnal nature. Freely Jesus forgave you and forgave
-
me. Wow, Holleylujah, thank you Jesus. Colossans two, verse twenty.
-
If then you have died with Christ to material ways of looking at things,
-
and have escaped from the world's crude and elemental notions and teachings of externalism,
-
why do you live as if you still belong to the world. Why
-
isn't that a sixty thousand dollars question. Paul's asking the question, And I'm
-
asking the question, so I hope you're paying attention that if you died to
-
Christ, and you died with Christ, which you did, which means that
-
you died to all the material ways of looking at the world and all the
-
worldly desires and passions, then why are you. Can you explain to me
-
why you are still living as if you belong to the world. Interesting,
-
Paul says, why do you submit to rules and regulations such as do not
-
handle this, do not taste that, do not touch them, which is
-
referring to all the things which perish which are being used to do this is
-
to follow human precepts and doctrines. He's talking about religious rules and regulations that
-
are foolishness. I have nothing to do with a spirituality. Their flesh.
-
They don't honor God God, they serve only to indulge the flesh. They're
-
just outward appearances of doing you know this rite and every you know, this
-
day we're going to fast, you know, every day we're going to just
-
we're just not going to eat meat. Come on, where's the spirituality in
-
that? It's just an outward appearance. Christ cares about the heart. He
-
doesn't care about the outward appearance. He's always looking at your heart. Colossians,
-
Chapter three, Verse one. If then you have been raised with Christ
-
to a new life, thus sharing his resurrection from the dead, here we
-
go aim at and seek the rich eternal treasures that are above where Christ is
-
seated at the right hand of God. So if you've been raised with Christ
-
to a new life, and you are sharing in the resurrection from the dead,
-
then you know, pay attention to the things that are above, spiritual
-
things, kingdom things. Okay, forget this nonsense on the earth. For
-
as far as this world is concerned, you have died verse three, and
-
your new life, your real new life, is hidden with Christ in God
-
verse four. When Christ, who is our life, appears, then you
-
will also appear with him in the splendor of his glory verse five. So
-
this is what we're going to do, Paul says, so kill, so
-
kill deaden deprived of power, the evil desire lurking in your members, those
-
animal impulses, and all that is earthly in you that is employed in sin.
-
Okay, that's a commandment. Do it. Kill it. Kill sexual
-
vice, impurity, sensual appetites, unholy desires, and all greed. I
-
talked about all the women with the greed for money last week. And coveteousness.
-
Coveteousness is when you see something somebody else has and you want it.
-
For that is idolatry, the deifying of self and other created things instead of
-
God, who Paul's on a war path. Here he says in verse six,
-
it is on account of these things, these very sins, that the
-
holy anger of God is ever coming upon the sons of disobedience, those who
-
are obstinately opposed to the divine will. Let me tell you, I don't
-
want to be obstinately opposed to the divine will. I hope you don't either,
-
Because he said, among whom you also once walked when you were living
-
in and addicted to such practices. But now put away, put away,
-
and rid yourselves completely of all these things anger, rage, bad feeling toward
-
others, curses and slander, and foul mouthed abuse, and shameful utterances from
-
your lipsh He's given it to us. Verse nine, do not like to
-
one another, for you have stripped off the old, unredreadt unregenerate self with
-
its evil practices. And I love this. Excuse me and verse ten,
-
having clothed yourselves with the new spiritual self, which is ever in the process
-
of being renewed and remodeled into fuller and more perfect knowledge upon knowledge, after
-
the image, the likeness of Him who created it. I'm going to read
-
that again. See, this is the hope we have. This is the
-
this is the positive charge for us. And have clothed yourselves with the new
-
spiritual self. That's what we are. We are a new spiritual self,
-
and we're clothing ourselves with the new spiritual self, which is ever in the
-
process of being. It's that word sanctification, or in the process of being
-
renewed and remolded into the fuller and more perfect knowledge. And that knowledge is
-
after the image and the likeness of Him who created it. Wow, you
-
know this colaution, this chapter three one through ten is just it's just a
-
mouthful, it's just a it's heady. I want to leave you with this.
-
We have a whole year left ahead of us. It's going to be
-
a long year, twenty twenty four. And this is a prophetic word that
-
the Lord gave me. I hope that you heed this word. Be still
-
and know that I am God. Write that scripture down. Would you?
-
Would you just write it down and put it in ten places so that you
-
see it every day and then and then be discipline to daily go find that
-
quiet place, that be still place, and get into God's presence, because
-
I told you in part one that when you continue to do that, you
-
will begin to experience God's glory. And that's what's going to carry you through
-
twenty twenty four. And see, this is all a process, this is
-
all working together everything that I've shared with you, especially what I've shared with
-
you today, of understanding that you are in Him, that He's in you,
-
that you are brand new, and that you put off the old man
-
and the old nature. Amen. So I just want to leave you with
-
this, remember to be still. Amen. Well, this is Don Noble.
