-
to switch that day, but you know, we meet all summer long.
-
We meet. I don't take off. So I would really encourage you to
-
come be with us on Wednesdays at six pm twenty two point fifty eight Main
-
Street, Wheeling, West Virginia. Tonight's message His Blood restores us as we
-
approach resurrection Sunday. I will be sharing three messages over the next three weeks.
-
On the Blood of Jesus. And this is my hope. I'm hoping
-
that you will have a greater understanding, appreciation, and a sincere desire to
-
live out these truths in your own life and become well acquainted with the power
-
that resides in the Blood of Jesus. Yes, there is power in the
-
Blood of Jesus. You see, most churches in America never teach or preach
-
about the Blood of Jesus anymore. Oh in the good old days, Oh
-
yeah, there was a lot of preaching and a lot of teaching about the
-
Blood of Jesus. But that's all gone away. People don't want to people
-
want their ears to be tickled pastors, you know, they don't want to
-
bring up those kind of topics. You know, they just want to make
-
it easy. So they don't sing songs about the Blood of Jesus anymore.
-
And therefore most of the churches in America do not operate in the power of
-
the Holy Spirit. So I want to ask you to think about when is
-
the last time that you can recall that you were taught or preached to about
-
the Blood of Jesus. And if you can't answer that question quickly, and
-
maybe it's time to look for a new church. Okay. Blood is such
-
an important topic that we read about it in Genesis all the way to the
-
Book of Revelation. It is critical in the days in which we live to
-
think correctly. Yes, we have to think correctly about the blood. That's
-
my reason for teaching on the blood of Jesus. Before Adam became a living
-
soul, the triun God had blood, yes, blood as the centerpiece for
-
our redemption. Revelation thirteen eight says this, all who dwell on the earth
-
will worship him, and him is referring to the Antichrist. So all who
-
dwell on the earth will worship the Antichrist, whose names have not been written
-
in the Book of Life. Of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the
-
world. So we learn in that scripture that the Lamb of God, Jesus
-
Christ, was slain from the foundation of the world, before there was an
-
earth and an Adam and an Eve and all of that. John in his
-
Gospel Chapter one, verse twenty eight states this. It says, the next
-
day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, behold the Lamb of God,
-
who takes away the sin of the world, folks, if there is
-
one topic to study and understand the richness and its supernatural power, it is
-
the blood of Jesus. We see in Leviticus seventeen eleven. Scripture says,
-
for the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given
-
it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls. For it
-
is the blood that makes atonement for the souls. So if you think about
-
it, you think about the Old Testament. That's why they were always sacrificing
-
animals, and that blood was used to atone for the souls of the people
-
of Israel. When the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground
-
and breathe into his nostrils the breath of life, man became a living soul.
-
That's Genesis chapter two, verse seven. And think about this. You
-
know, sometimes we read scripture and we just kind of flow right past things
-
and we don't take time to meditate on the scripture or even think about how
-
does this all work. But the minute that God breathed into Adam, the
-
minute Adam became a living soul, something happened. Blood immediately began to flow
-
through Adam's arteries and veins, and it was the blood that gave Adam life.
-
As as Leviticus seventeen eleven states, we know scientifically that blood carries oxygen.
-
Breath, we breathe in, we inhale oxygen, and that oxygen that
-
is carried in the blood to bring vital nutrients and energy to all our vital
-
organs throughout the body, and it is what sustains life. Blood sustains life.
-
So the life of the flesh is in the blood. That's a very
-
key scripture. You should memorize that scripture, for the life of the flesh
-
is in the blood. Leviticus seventeen eleven. Adam came alive. As soon
-
as the blood began to flow. His heart actively was pumping oxygenated blood to
-
every vital organ. So the heart, as soon as the heart began to
-
beat, see that blood was stagnant for a nanosecond or so, but as
-
as soon as that blood began to pomp, then blood was being taken to
-
all the vital organs and throughout the body. God ordained that the life would
-
be in the blood. Our need for a savior began when Adam and Eve
-
sinned in the garden. Sin had Now that's sin that they committed disobang what
-
God had told them not to do and not to eat. From that sin
-
polluted their blood and death would soon follow. You see, from that first
-
sin we acquired our sin in nature. So when scripture says we are born
-
in iniquity and incent, we got that from Adam. We are born into
-
this world. Every human being born into this world is born with Adam's nature,
-
and that nature is a corrupt nature. From that first sin, then
-
is how we got from Adam and Eve's first sin, then we got our
-
sin nature. Romans three twenty three says all have sinned and fall short of
-
the glory of God. So as I said, every person born in this
-
world, every human being is born in into sin and carries Adam's nature,
-
which is a corrupt nature. Romans five seventeen says, for if by one
-
man's offense, death reigned through the One, much more those who receive abundance
-
of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One
-
Jesus Christ. See, this sin nature meant that every person would from that
-
point on they'd be born with polluted blood, and that in itself brought a
-
curse of sickness, mental oppression, fear, anxiety, and all manner of
-
things the end of me has used to defeat us. I want you to
-
listen to what scripture says regarding the curses in Genesis three sixteen. And by
-
the way, I'm reading out of the King James New King James version this
-
evening, and several scriptures will be from the MeV version, but this is
-
out of the New King James. To the woman, God said, I
-
will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception in pain. You shall bring forth
-
children. Your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over
-
you. Then to Adam God said this. He said, because you have
-
heeded the voice of your wife and have eaten from the tree of which I
-
commanded you, saying you shall not eat of it, then cursed is the
-
ground for your sake in toil. You shall eat of it all the days
-
of your life. Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you,
-
and you shall eat the herb of the field. In the sweat of your
-
face. You shall eat bread till you return to the ground, for out
-
of it you were taken. For dust you are And to dust, you
-
shall return now Hebrews chapter nine twenty two, and the be portion of that
-
verse reads, and without shedding of blood, there is no remission. The
-
MeV version reads, without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness.
-
So a blood sacrifice would be necessary to redeem mankind from the curse of sin.
-
The curse came through Adam, so breaking the curse would require a sinless
-
man to come and shed his blood as the lamb of God slain before the
-
foundation of the world. Only only this sinless one could redeem all mankind.
-
Romans five, verse eighteen out of the me Ev says, through the righteous
-
act of one came justification of life for all men. And that's why Ezekiel
-
chapter sixteen and verse six says this. Ezekiel wrote, when I passed by
-
you and saw you polluted in your own blood, I said to you,
-
when you were in your blood live. Indeed, I said to you,
-
when you were in your blood live. I think one of the most important
-
things we have to remember is that God had already secured provision to give us
-
life from the foundation of the world, because it was out of God's great
-
heart and God's great love for us. That he had a place to rescue
-
us. I mean, excuse me. He had a plan to rescue us,
-
and it had to do with shedding his own innocimple blood. The price
-
sin demands is death, its eternal separation from God. And that concept right
-
there, the price of sin demands is death. The price sin demands is
-
death, eternal separation from God. But God sent his son Jesus to pay
-
the sacrifice to redeem us through that unpolluted, sinless shed blood. So when
-
Jesus shed his blood on the cross, that was that blood was pure sinless.
-
When Adam and Eves sinned in the garden, there had to be an
-
act of mercy and blood had to be involved to cover their sin. Genesis
-
three twenty one says this also for Adam and his wife, the Lord God
-
made tunics of skin and clothed them so to cover their sin and nakedness.
-
What did Adam and Eve do? Most of you know this story. They
-
sewed fig leaves together because they realized once their eyes were open. The scripture
-
says that they were naked and they were ashamed, so they sewed the fig
-
leaves together and made themselves a covering. Well, what does that represent It's
-
a perfect picture of how we think, in our own humanness, we can
-
fix the problem, and you know, there's nothing new under the sun.
-
As Solomon said, we still do that today. We think that we have
-
the strength and the power and the knowledge and we can fix it, and
-
we can fix all the problems, and we can you know, make it
-
all right again. That is so far from the truth. See, we
-
cannot produce righteousness on our own. Amen. We were never intended to atone
-
for our own sin. And just so you know, a tone means covering,
-
So we were never meant to atone for our own sin. We can't
-
and never will and never will we be able to. Never Adam and Eve
-
couldn't and we can't. So the Lord God what he did. He slew
-
animals in the garden. He had to shed blood to make tunics of skin
-
to clothe them. The only thing that was going to redeem Adam and Eve
-
was that covering of blood. So the first shedding of blood is when God
-
slew aid those animals to cover Adam and Eve. These animal skins dripping in
-
blood was a demonstration of the blood covenant that was required for our redemption.
-
That's our first picture. That's the first thing we learn about. Right in
-
the right in the beginning of Genesis, we are taught that picture. We
-
can see that in our minds, and we recognize that without the shedding of
-
blood, there's no redemption for them. There's no way out for Adam and
-
Eve. They are going to be stuck in their sin, and they would
-
have to live in that sin until they physically died, and then would be
-
separated eternally from God. So that's why they were ushered out of the garden
-
and God put angels with flaming swords over the entrance to the garden. He
-
did not want. That was mercy. That was mercy for you and I,
-
because, as I said, if Adam and Eve Eve had never left
-
the garden and God had never covered them with blood yikes, we would be
-
in trouble. So with God's mercy toward Adam and Eve, we would have
-
had no chance, no chance of obtaining eternal life. And I regard this
-
as one of the greatest gifts of God's mercy, the mercy of covering them
-
with those bloody animal skins. And the second act of mercy was to put
-
the angels with the flaming swords at the entrance to the garden. But see
-
it didn't end there. The Father sent his son Ge to provide the complete
-
and forever, once and for all sacrifice with his own blood, to provide
-
for more than a covering like Adam and Eve. So we didn't just get
-
covered with jesus blood. No, we were redeemed from the power of sin.
-
We aren't under the righteousness of God. We are the righteousness of God.
-
That's pretty profound. We aren't under the righteousness of God, we are
-
the righteousness of God. So what occurred with Adam and Eve is certainly different
-
from what gift we got when Jesus shed his own blood. We read a
-
blood covenant when Jesus died on the cross. That was blood shed by a
-
sinless individual, an individual who was part of the Godhead, and that was
-
our blood covenant. He told them at the table, at the Lord's table.
-
They didn't understand it, but now we understand it. So he restored
-
us. I'm talking tonight about how the Lord restores us through his blood.
-
His blood restored us from the law and the Mosaic covenant to an ever lasting
-
covenant written with his own blood. Where sin can no longer have dominion over
-
us, and death can no longer have a hold over us. Again,
-
that's amazing, that is worth shouting about. The new Man has come.
-
We have been restored back to our heavenly Father. Hallelujah. I want to
-
conclude with Romans chapter six, and these are powerful scriptures to help you understand
-
what that Blood Covenant is all about. We're going to start in verse one
-
Romans chapter six. Paul writes, what shall we say, then, shall
-
we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly? Not? How shall
-
we who died to sin live any longer in it? Or do you not
-
know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ, Jesus were baptized
-
into his death. Therefore we were buried with him through baptism into death.
-
That just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father,
-
even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we
-
have been united together in the likeness of his death, certainly we also shall
-
be in the likeness of his resurrection. M This is good, knowing this,
-
that our old man was crucified with Christ, that the body of sin
-
might be done away with that we should no longer be slaves of sin,
-
for he who has died has been freed from sin. Now, if we
-
died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him, knowing
-
that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more death no
-
longer has dominion over him. For the death that he died, he died
-
to sin once for all, but the life that he lives, he lives
-
to God. Likewise, you also reckon yourselves to be dead, indeed to
-
sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord, hoo alilujah.
-
Therefore, do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should
-
obey it in its lusts, And do not present your members as instruments of
-
unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead,
-
and your memory as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not
-
have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
-
What then shall we sin? Because we are not under law but under grace.
-
Certainly not, do you not know that to whom you present yourself slaves
-
to obey, you are that one's slaves whom you obey, whether of sin
-
leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness. But God be thanked
-
that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that
-
form of doctrine to which you were delivered, And having been set free from
-
sin, you became slaves of righteousness. I speak in human terms because of
-
the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves
-
of uncleanness and of lawlessness, leading to more lawlessness, so now present your
-
members as slaves of righteousness for holiness. For when you were slaves of sin,
-
you were free in regard to righteousness. I'm telling you this is so
-
good Verse twenty two. But now having been set free from sin and having
-
become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness and the end,
-
ever lasting life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift
-
of God is eternal life in Christ. Jesus our Lord, Oh my goodness,
-
that is good stuff. You should take a moment, not just a
-
moment. You should read over those scriptures and read over those scriptures and chew
-
on those scriptures until you understand what Christ did for you and I. It's
-
the blood. It's not just a blood or the blood. It's Jesus blood
-
that restored us back to the Father and gave us eternal life. Amen.
