  1. Good evening. Welcome to Voice in the Wilderness. I'm Don Noble of Pure

  2. Heart Ministries, and I welcome you today with exceedingly abundant lee and overflowing joy.

  3. Before I start this message, I'm going to give you the same announcement

  4. I gave you last week in case you didn't tune in last week. But

  5. I'm having my very first annual Truth and Justice Forum and that will be Tuesday,

  6. April the thirtieth, from six pm till eight thirty pm at the White

  7. Palace at Wheeling Park, and I have from sixty seven. We're having ordures

  8. and beverages, no alcohol, and we're having Nate Cain, who is running

  9. for the second congressional district that's here in our area. And Nate is a

  10. great guy. He's a great Christian. He is a former FBI whistleblower for

  11. the uranium one scandal with Hillary Clinton that you may remember, and he's just

  12. he's he's a great candidate. So we're going to have him talk for a

  13. few minutes or so to you know, let us know why we should vote

  14. for him for Congress. And then at seven o'clock I have a great speaker

  15. that I have brought in Bill Fetterer. Bill is a best selling author,

  16. he's a national speaker. He's a man who has more information in his brain

  17. than anybody I know. He's a Christian historian and he is a phenomenal speaker.

  18. You do not This is free, Okay, this is free, free,

  19. free, and open to the public. Grab your friends and come,

  20. come, You're going to enjoy this. He is great. Going to talk

  21. about understanding the culture. And let me tell you, if anybody knows Bill

  22. Fetter knows well, he knows many topics. But yes. And then at

  23. eight pm he's going to speak seven to eight. At eight pm there's going

  24. to be a discussion with he and Wheeling Attorney Tom Buck. So I'm looking

  25. forward to that. I hope you can come. And then on Thursday,

  26. May the second, just two days later, we are celebrating National Day a

  27. prayer. We will be at Independence Hall on Market Street, downtown Wheeling at

  28. six thirty pm sharp. And this year I'm doing something a little different.

  29. The Lord put on my heart to really pray for just three three areas of

  30. influence, influence, the first of which is families and children, The second

  31. is Israel, and then our government and I'm so excited. I have a

  32. family. I have a Catholic family with six children coming, a Baptist family

  33. with seven children coming, and they're gonna take a little time to talk about

  34. why they have family devotions, so what that means to them and their family,

  35. and I'm I'm truly excited. We're gonna pray for them. It's gonna

  36. be a good evening. We're gonna have worship, and so please join us

  37. on Thursday, May second, six thirty Independence Hall for a national day a

  38. prayer. We need prayer, folks. I think you would agree tonight's topic,

  39. climate change is necessary. Okay, before you get your blood pressure up

  40. and wonder if I've lost my mind, hold on, Yes, I believe

  41. climate change is necessary. I do indeed. But I'm not talking about too

  42. much carbon dioxide in the air and methane being produced. No, No,

  43. I'm talking about a spiritual climate change. Now. Last week I mentioned about

  44. Reverend Conlin Carter speaking at Cornell recently and Yale and two hundred students receiving Christ

  45. at Cornell. That's really exciting. But guess what it's happening at other colleges.

  46. Florida State University now listen to this. This is a big college,

  47. Florida State University. They are the number two party school in the United States.

  48. They had a revival breakout with hundreds of students giving their life to Jesus

  49. and hundreds getting baptized to water. Yay, that's good news. Now there

  50. is a supernatural move of God at the University of Alabama. Again, hundreds

  51. of students receiving Christ and getting baptized in a fountain. Now, personally,

  52. I like that idea. See, I'm an out of the box person.

  53. If you've been listening to me for any length of time, you already know

  54. that I'm out of the box person. And you know, I know.

  55. We have the religious folks who roll their eyes and get their necks stiff,

  56. wondering why they aren't being baptized in a church with a real ordained pastor.

  57. Come on, you don't need any credentials to baptize someone in water. That's

  58. the true And don't make up rules that aren't in the Bible. As long

  59. as you are a born again believer living your life according to the Bible,

  60. you can baptize anyone anywhere. I'll say that again, is as long as

  61. you're a born again believer, living your life according to the Bible. You

  62. can baptize anyone anywhere. You can take him down to the Ohio River here

  63. if you happen to be down there preaching, ministering along the river down at

  64. our waterfront there and somebody, and you lead somebody to the Lord, ask

  65. him if you can baptize him in the river. I'm telling you you can

  66. do that, all right. I know probably most of you did not see

  67. the movie Jesus Revolution that came out a year ago February, and I'm telling

  68. you it was a great They did an excellent job. It was a great

  69. movie. It was a true story. And Kelsey Grammar was the star.

  70. He played Chuck Smith. Chuck Smith started Calvary Chapel in California. There are

  71. now hundreds of Calvary Chapel churches all over the states. Now, Greg Laurie

  72. was portrayed. I forget the actor that portrayed him. It wasn't seventy I

  73. knew. But anyway, the story really revolves around Greg Laurie getting saved at

  74. Calvary Chapel in the movie, and the story revolves around him being on fire

  75. for God. Young, just a young guy, just a young guy,

  76. twenty something and he started a church. Guess what, Greg Glory still pastors

  77. that same church today fifty years later, and he's never had a scandal.

  78. I think that's amazing, and I think we should applaud Greg Lauriy that we

  79. need more pastors like Greg Laurie and Chuck Smith. Amen. And around the

  80. same time that the Jesus Revolution movie came out, as Berry College in Kentucky.

  81. Now that's it was a Christian college way back. I don't know if

  82. it still is, but they experienced a revival, albeit brief, but still.

  83. I mean lots and lots of young people got saved. A lot of

  84. young people recommitted their life to the Lord. So that was an awesome move

  85. of God. Now getting back to the Jesus Revolution thing, the young people

  86. in California in this, of course, the Jesus Revolution was the seventies.

  87. I grew up in the seventies and these people that were getting saved, they

  88. were baptized in the Pacific Ocean. So it doesn't matter if you're baptized in

  89. the ocean, the river, a fountain, a creek, doesn't matter.

  90. But religious members of Chuck Smith's church because this didn't fit into their idea of

  91. a religious experience, walked out and left the church. They left his church.

  92. You know what, these people, I hate to say it, but

  93. it's a truth. These people are like the Pharisees of Jesus day who called

  94. Jesus a devil. You know, we don't think about this much, but

  95. if you were to actually read the gospels again and truly paid attention to how

  96. many times the Pharisees got in Jesus' way. They persecuted him, they provoked

  97. him, they taunted him, they shunned him. They were wicked men,

  98. and yet they called themselves the religious, and everyone in the community looked at

  99. them as the religious men. Yet they didn't have a revelation of who Jesus

  100. was, and they didn't like him at all, and they helped put him

  101. on the cross. But let me explain it this way. See, when

  102. your heart is hard and your heart is cold, and your spirit is dead,

  103. it's dead if you're not saved. Okay, so if you're not a

  104. Christian, if you're not born again, then your spirit is dead and your

  105. heart will be hard and heart will be cold, and you have no capacity

  106. for the things of the spirit or the flow or the moving of the spirit.

  107. That's why these people at Chuck Smith's church, you know, they were

  108. phari cycle, they were Pharisees. They were probably not born again. They

  109. didn't like that these young people were getting saved and baptized in the Pacific Ocean.

  110. Come on, now, if you're a Christian and your heart is hardened

  111. and cold, well, then your spirit is like, I don't know,

  112. it's like being in the refrigerator taking a siesta. Like what's going on.

  113. There's no capacity for the things of the spirit either. Let's just look at

  114. Ephesians two, verses one through six. It says, and you he made

  115. alive who were dead in trespasses and sins in which you once walked, according

  116. to the course of this world, according to the Prince of the power of

  117. the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among

  118. whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lust of our flesh and of

  119. the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as others.

  120. But God, But God, who is rich in mercy because of his great

  121. love with which he loved us, even when we were dead and trespasses made

  122. us alive together with Christ. By grace you have been saved and raised us

  123. up together and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that

  124. in the ages to come, he might show the exceeding riches of his grace

  125. in his kindness toward us. In Christ, Jesus. You know, you

  126. really do see the mercy of God when you read these scriptures, because you

  127. and I were dead, dead, dead dead in our trespasses and sins.

  128. And you and I were walked according to the desires and the fleshly things of

  129. this world. And yeah, your preborn again life and my preborn again life.

  130. Ah, we were just living for our flesh and the desires of our

  131. flesh. I mean I that is that is true. Paul. Paul even

  132. goes as far as to say that we were children of wrath before we met

  133. Jesus. Isn't that interesting? Of course, we know that Paul so told

  134. us that before we met Jesus we were also enemies of God. I hate,

  135. I hate to even think that I was an enemy of God. But

  136. if you don't know Christ, you are an enemy of God. And when

  137. you don't know Jesus, Satan is working in you. To lead a disobedient

  138. life. That's what it says here in Ephesians that that demonic spirit, that

  139. that fleshly spirit works in the sons of disobedience. And so you know,

  140. Satan is on the move, and that's what he does. He lures us

  141. and persuades us and deceives us into doing things that we shouldn't be doing.

  142. And so then we lead disobedient lives. And because hallelujah, because of God's

  143. mercy, Christ made us alive together with him. That's amazing. And then

  144. He gave us a heavenly position seated in heaven with him. Think about that.

  145. I mean, do you ever think about these things? I do?

  146. I think, Oh, my goodness, are you kidding? I'm sitting in

  147. heaven with Jesus. Yeah, I have a heavenly position with Jesus. That's

  148. where you and I are today, seeded in heaven with Christ. Of course

  149. we do that by faith. Nonetheless, it's real and it's extremely exciting and

  150. extremely encouraging to see college students some fifty years after the Jesus Revolution receiving Christ

  151. for the first time. You see that there has been this huge span of

  152. time where when that Jesus Revolution was taking place, and all those hippies and

  153. flower children whatever were coming to Jesus, you know, And that was a

  154. major move of the Holy Spirit. And then we have seen nothing, virtually

  155. nothing for fifty years. And now we see the young people again getting excited.

  156. So listen, don't put your nose in the air as if you're some

  157. holy person without sin. These people need. What did I talk about last

  158. week? I talked about being a lower light, didn't I? I talked

  159. about the fact that we need to be the lower lights in the lighthouse so

  160. that we can lead people into the safe harbor of Jesus. Roger Ebert,

  161. you remember he used to be on TV with Michael Medved and they used to

  162. they were movie critics. Robert Ebert recently said, of and he's still a

  163. movie critic. He was speaking of the movie Jesus Revolution, and this is

  164. what he said. He said, there was an uncommon mourning, an uncommon

  165. morning freshness to that movement. He said it was a buoyant atmosphere of hope

  166. and love along with the usual rebel zeal and he went on to say he

  167. said their love seemed more sincere than a slogan. It was deeper than the

  168. fast fading sentiments of the flowered children. What startles the outsider is the extraordinary

  169. sense of joy that they were able to communicate. I like that because you

  170. know, we tend to look at the outward appearance, right, Jesus said,

  171. don't look at the outward appearance. Don't look at the outward appearance.

  172. Look at the heart. Look at the heart. That's why I desire climate

  173. change. I'm a climate change guru. Yeah, I'm for climate change.

  174. That spiritual atmosphere. When that spiritual atmosphere becomes changed and ignited with a passion

  175. for Christ, Yeah, that's the climate change I'm looking for. You know,

  176. instead of worrying about exhaling carbon dioxide, why don't we exhale the love

  177. of God to people? You know today when you just look at what's happening,

  178. we really look at what's happening on college campuses. I mean, we've

  179. seen all the Palestinian protests against the Jews. We've seen some pretty ugly things

  180. going on on college campuses. But here's the deal. These young people have

  181. no hope. They have no hope. That's why depression is rampant and suicide

  182. is an easy out. There's so much negativity being aimed at young people today,

  183. and that's why you don't want to form some kind of judgment in your

  184. heart toward them, because you see, they are in desperate need of love

  185. and kindness and compassion and joy because they don't have any of it. Without

  186. the God of hope in their life, they have no hope, and that's

  187. pretty much where they are right now. Jesus, our Jesus is a living

  188. hope that provides the necessary motivation to accomplish great things in this life. When

  189. you're in your early twenties in college, this is the greatest time. You're

  190. excited, you're motivated. You want to change the world, you want to

  191. make things better. You know, you have this grand idea of how you're

  192. going to change the world for the better. But if you don't have hope,

  193. as many of these young people don't have, then what's going to motivate

  194. you? And they're not motivated. Ephesians chapter two, verse fourteen says,

  195. for he himself is our peace, I mean goodness gracious. There's an overwhelming

  196. sense of anxiety and fear as well that grips this generation of young people we

  197. should wish and pray that they find and encounter the Prince of Peace. See,

  198. I mean, we are living in exciting times. You have heard me

  199. over the years, I have said this jeez multiple times. I don't think

  200. I've said it in a long time, but I talked about so many times

  201. about the Third Great Awakening coming to our nation. Well, guess what.

  202. The Third Great Awakening has become, has begun, and it will continue.

  203. It's going to continue. You just watch and see what happens with these young

  204. people. It'll be way greater, way more impactful, way more powerful than

  205. the Jesus Revolution ever was. Because the harvest is white. The harvest is

  206. so ready to come in. It just needs you and I again to be

  207. those lower lights to bring them into the safe harbor of Jesus. Could I

  208. challenge you today, could you be a stick of kindling to young people that

  209. you know? I would venture to say, you've got young people that are

  210. your neighbors, or you have young people that are your grandchildren, or young

  211. people that are your children, Be a stick of kindling, start a little

  212. fire, you know, Bless them, do positive things, don't degrade them,

  213. don't be negative toward them. Don't speak negative things. You know,

  214. life and death are in the power of the tongue. Speak a blessing.

  215. Tell them that they've got a great future ahead of them. Speak you know

  216. that they you know, they have success in them. They have great ideas

  217. and great inventions in them. Speak good things over them because they are hungry,

  218. and they are thirsty for the reality of truth and the enemy, the

  219. adversary, Satan himself, has done an exceedingly great job at getting this generation

  220. way off track. But the good news is he's losing his grip. Hallelujah,

  221. He's losing his grip. So it's going to take you and I,

  222. it's gonna take us older people to help them reach that place where they realize

  223. they need a savior. And you don't have to preach to them, just

  224. gently lead them, gently, let them know. Hey, you know,

  225. if you ever need to talk, come up on the porch, have a

  226. lemonade. You know, we'll sit here and chat. If you need to

  227. get something off your chest, it's something bothering you, something on your mind,

  228. you know, take take an opportunity to talk to them. You know,

  229. they're they're totally focused on that phone, that cell phone and social media.

  230. They need people to talk to them, and they would they would enjoy

  231. they would it would It would be refreshing for them for you to just say,

  232. hey, come on over, let's have a cup of coffee. Come

  233. on, you need to talk to someone. I'm here, I'm here for

  234. you. So I want you to continue to pray for our young generation.

  235. Pray that their hearts will be awakened to God's love. Father, in the

  236. name of Jesus, I ask you to help us. I ask you to

  237. help all my listeners and even those who aren't listening, all of us adults

  238. out there, Would you give us a compassion? Would you soften our hearts

  239. for the young generation, for this generation that so needs the gospel, that

  240. so needs the truth, that so needs love and joy and peace and faith.

  241. Would you help us to be better at talking and communicating to them.

  242. Would you help us to reach out and be a lower light so that we

  243. can safely bring them into the harbor, so that they do not crash and

  244. die. Thank you, Father for helping each one of us do our part

  245. to bring in the harvest in Jesus's mighty name. Amen. Well, this
