-
this is your opportunity to learn and ask questions and
-
engage in fellowship and conversation. So I hope you come tonight.
-
I want to talk about October seventh, twenty twenty three,
-
one year ago. Today on October seventh, Israeli families felt
-
the pain of loss, horror, grief, and sadness that they
-
had not experienced in roughly eighty three years. The reports
-
of the rapes and the brutal murders of babies and
-
grandmothers was shocking. The level of evil expressed reached a
-
height that was unthinkable. And still one year later, we
-
have Americans saying that the Jews are at fault and
-
the protesters still protesting this little chant from the river
-
to the sea, Palestine will be free. If you are
-
unclear what that little chant means, I'll explain it in
-
clear terms. It means the extermination of the nation of
-
Israel and all Jews. For the next two programs, and
-
I think I can do it. In two programs, I
-
will attempt to explain from a biblical and historical standpoint
-
Israel's right to its national sovereignty. This tiny sliver of
-
lands has there's more consternation and political tension about this
-
little sliver of land than any nation in the world.
-
God promised Abraham, the father of the Jewish nation, that
-
quote in your seed, all the nations of the earth
-
shall be blessed. Listen to the amplified classic version in
-
Genesis twelve, verses two and three. And this is the
-
Lord speaking directly to Abraham. And he says, and I
-
will make of you a great nation, and I will
-
bless you with abundant increase of favors, and make your
-
name famous and distinguished. And you will be a blessing,
-
dispensing good to others. And I will bless those who
-
bless you, who confer prosperity or happiness upon you. And
-
I'll curse him who curses or uses insolent language towards you.
-
In you will all the families and kindred of the
-
earth be blessed, And by you they will bless themselves.
-
Did you know that the children of Abraham have brought
-
blessing to the world in many ways as well as
-
including scientific and technological advances. Israel's economy is an engine
-
of innovation, especially in the high tech industry in six
-
key areas telecom, microchips, software, bio pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and
-
clean energy. So what does the Bible say about Israel
-
and the Jews? Is the covenant of the covenant God
-
made with Abraham still in effect? Are the Jews still
-
God's chosen people? What I want to share is and
-
I think this is really excellent. That's why I'm using
-
this p But Matt Stover is the founder and president
-
of Liberty Council, and he wrote a great little it's
-
just a tiny little patriot. It's called The Patriots Handbook
-
of Essential Reasons to Stand with Israel. So I'm going
-
to read some things that he has written, and he
-
says the answers we give to those questions carry enormous weight.
-
Christian Zionism sped the way in Britain and the US
-
for the return of the Jews to their ancient homeland.
-
The opposite attitude, sometimes called replacement theology, the idea that
-
God's promises to Israel have been transferred to the Church,
-
has fanned the flames of anti Semitism for nearly two
-
thousand years. I want to stop there for just a moment.
-
I've talked to you about replacement theology, and it is
-
a doctrine of demons. It is literally a doctrine of demons.
-
And it's it's uh actually today October seventh, twenty twenty
-
four that replacement theology is growing. It's like more of
-
the church, especially in America. I can't speak for other
-
parts of the world, but especially in America. People are
-
latching onto this as as if it's the truth, and
-
it is. It is evil. When I say doctrines of demons,
-
I'm not kidding. And that's when you know when he
-
writes here, it has fanned the flames of anti Semitism
-
for two thousand years. That's part of the reason, so listen,
-
he says. Historian Paul Merkley observes that the real contest
-
within Christianity on which the survival of the Jews may
-
well depend, is over one of the oldest theological issues
-
in the Church, how the destiny of the Jews is
-
related to the destiny of the church. Second century Christian
-
apologist Justin Martyr was one of the first to displace
-
the Jews from God's promise to Abraham when he declared
-
that quote, we Christians have been led to God through
-
this crucified Christ, and we are the true spiritual Israel
-
and the descendants of Judah, Jacob, Isaac and Abraham. He
-
goes on the claim that God rejected the Jews after
-
they refused Christ laid the foundation for centuries of Christian
-
anti Semitism. It's not widely recognized, but a long te
-
trail of anti Jewish bigotry and persecution litters church history.
-
And see, most people don't know that. Most of the
-
church is clueless about how this all came about. And
-
so that's why they buy this replacement theology. Hooklean sinker.
-
It kind of quote makes sense to them. Matt goes on.
-
John Chrysostom, a fourth century theologian, exhaled noxious fumes of
-
hate against the children of Abraham, telling them this, and
-
this is what John wrote. It is because you killed Christ.
-
It is because you stretched out your hand against the Lord.
-
It is because you've shed the precious blood that there
-
is now no restoration, no mercy anymore, and no defense.
-
Church synods from the fourth to the fifteenth century prohibited
-
Jews from holding public office, owning Christian servants, constructing new synagogues,
-
and forcing them to wear special clothes and live in ghettos.
-
Martin Luther complained in fifteen twenty three that the Roman
-
Catholic Church had quote dealt with the Jews as if
-
they were dogs and not human beings. End quote. But
-
listen to this. At the end of Luther's life, this
-
is what he wrote. He wrote the Jews and their lies,
-
outlining his plan to deal with them. Listen to what
-
Luther wrote at the end of his life. First, their
-
synagogues or churches should be set on, and whatever does
-
not burn up should be covered or spread over with dirt,
-
so that no one may ever be able to see
-
a cinder or stone of it. And this ought to
-
be done for the honor of God and of Christianity,
-
in order that God may see that we are Christians. Secondly,
-
their homes should be broken down and destroyed. Thirdly, they
-
should be deprived of their prayer books and talmuds in
-
which such idolatry, lies, cursing, and blasphemy are taught. Fourth,
-
their rabbis must be forbidden, under threat of death, to
-
teach any more. Luther's chilling words, along with the centuries
-
of mistreatment and oppression of Jews by Christians, set the
-
table for Hitler's evil work to exterminate European jury. Holocaust
-
historian raw Hilberg showed that all Nazi policies, except for
-
the extermination of the Jews, merely mimicked practices already put
-
in place by the Church centuries earlier. As Hilberg wrote,
-
quote the German Nazis then did not discard the past.
-
They built upon it. They did not begin a development,
-
they completed it. End quote. It is no small matter
-
what we conclude from the scriptures about the Jewish people
-
and their place in God's plan. So what do the
-
scriptures say? God makes it easy to understand when he
-
told Abraham, and I read that earlier from Genesis twelve three,
-
I will bless those who bless you, I will curse
-
him or curses you, and in you all the families
-
of the earth shall be blessed. So you can see
-
that the Nazis took what Luther wrote at the end
-
of his life. Now there's you know, nobody knows exactly
-
why he switched gears. Some think that he just went
-
insane at the end of his life. And it does
-
sound a little crazy to be writing such things about
-
the Jews, but the Nazis used that, and that supported
-
their idea of exterminating the Jews. Now, this little unconditional
-
phrase has never been withdrawn and has been confirmed from Haman.
-
Remember in the book of Ester Hayman that built the
-
gallows to put Mordecai on, only to be hung on
-
the same gallows. He actually made for someone else, from
-
Haman to Hitler. Hayman swung from the gallows he built
-
for his Jewish adversary Mordecai after Ester exposed Haman's plot
-
to kill all the Jews across the Persian Empire. That's
-
a powerful story. I've talked about the Book of Ester.
-
If you've never read it, you should, because it's not
-
only scripture, it's a piece of history. Hitler promised a
-
thousand year reign, but took his own life on April thirtieth,
-
nineteen forty five. Is Allied troops advanced on Berlin. Ancient Egypt, Babylon, Assyria, Rome,
-
and the Ottoman Empire all fell in the wake of
-
their mistreatment of the Jews. And you know what I
-
would add, in their Spain as well. The Church itself
-
has suffered for its anti Semitic sins. Scholar Michael Brown,
-
who is a Jewish believer in Jesus, writes this. He says,
-
to the extent that the Church has recognized her Jewish
-
roots and the rightful place of Israel. The Church has
-
had light. The dark ages of the Church were the
-
days of her greatest theological ignorance of Israel. As well
-
as the times of her most violent hostility against Jews.
-
God's blessing on America since our founding coincides with our
-
welcoming stance toward the Jews from George Washington and on.
-
President Washington famously assured the Newport Jews of safe treatment,
-
telling them that the US government quote gives to bigotry,
-
no sanction, to persecution, no assistance. God's promise to bless
-
those who bless the Jews is still in force, so
-
that has not changed. It obligates all people, especially Christians,
-
to treat Israel and all Jewish people with kindness and love.
-
And I've grown up. I actually worked for a Jewish
-
man when I was in high school. He owned it
-
was a men's clothing store, and I found great favor
-
with him. I loved working there. It was fun. And
-
when I went to college, I worked for a Jewish
-
woman who had an upscale women's clothing store, and I
-
found great, great favor with her. And of course, you know,
-
when I was in high school, I had no clue
-
about the scripture saying those who bless Israel will be blessed,
-
those who curse or will be cursed. I had no
-
clue about that scripture. In fact, at the time that
-
I was working at the store, the women's store, I
-
was a new Christian, young believer, and I was not
-
familiar with this scripture either. But I just found favor
-
with these folks, and I've always liked the Jewish people.
-
The lady, the woman was very tough to work for,
-
but she really had a soft spot spot for me,
-
and so I you know, I liked it there. So
-
as Christians, yes, I don't care what church you go to,
-
I don't care what denomination you belong to. If you
-
are a born again Christian, a born again believer in
-
Jesus Christ, you are obligated by scripture. You see, it's
-
a commandment. Remember we're to obey all the commandments of
-
the Bible. This is a commandment. I will bless those
-
who bless you. I will curse him who curses you.
-
So it's a commandment to bless the Jewish. We are
-
obligated to bless them. We are obligated to do good
-
to them in every I'll just give you a little secret.
-
If you want to be really successful in life, literally
-
not kidding. If you want to be successful in life,
-
you bless the Jewish people. You can bless Jews in
-
your community, you can bless Jews in Israel, it doesn't matter.
-
But when you bless the Jewish people, you will be blessed.
-
And scripture doesn't lie, and God doesn't lie. So you know,
-
go for it because you'll receive the blessing. But just
-
remember if you do the opposite and you curse them,
-
then you're going to be cursed. Now, what about the
-
land promise that God gave to Abraham? Is that still
-
in force? This is important, So I hope you get this.
-
God told Abram Abram. See this is before he becomes Abraham,
-
father of the nations. He tells Abram almost four thousand
-
years ago. He says, this is Genesis thirteen, fourteen and fifteen.
-
He says, lift up your eyes now and look for
-
all the land which you see, I will give to
-
you and your descendants forever. Now that's not the entirety
-
of scripture. I'm just giving you a little abbreviation. Psalm
-
one oh five indicates that God's promise is for all time.
-
Listen to the scripture. He God remembers his covenant forever,
-
the word which he commanded for a thousand generations, the
-
covenant which he made with Abraham and his oath to
-
Isaac and confirmed it to Jacob for a statute to
-
Israel as an everlasting covenant, saying to you, I will
-
give the land of Canaan as the allotment of your inheritance.
-
And that is Psalm one five, verses eight through eleven.
-
It is God's covenant with the Jews, unconditional. Good question,
-
what if Israel sins and violates the covenant God made
-
with Abraham? Will that void the agreement so to speak,
-
and prompt God to seek another covenant partner. Oh? No,
-
God answers that question in no uncertain terms. This is Jeremiah.
-
You know I'm going to read this. Hang on, I'm
-
going to read this out of the Amplified Classic instead
-
of the New American Standard. Um, so just bear with
-
me a second. Here. This is Jeremiah thirty verse eleven,
-
And this is what the scripture says. This is the
-
Lord speaking to Jeremiah. For I am with you, says
-
the Lord to save you. For I will make a
-
full and complete end of all the nations to which
-
I have scattered you. But I will not make a
-
full and complete end of you, but I will correct
-
you in measure and with judgment, and an end will
-
in no sense hold you guiltless or leave you unpunished.
-
So I think you know. Scripture is pretty clear. This
-
is Jeremiah. Hang on, this is Jeremiah thirty one, verses
-
thirty five and thirty seven. Again, this is out of
-
the amplified classic. Okay, thirty five. Thus says the Lord
-
who gives the sun for a light by day, and
-
the fixed order of the moon and of the stars
-
for a light by night, who stirs up the seas
-
roaring billows, or steals the waves when they roar. The
-
Lord of House is his name. If these ordinances of
-
fixed order depart from before me, says the Lord, then
-
the posterity of Israel also shall cease from being a
-
nation before me throughout the ages. I mean that is
-
is about as clear as it gets. The Lord is
-
making it very, very clear. And then he says in
-
verse verse thirty seven, Thus says the Lord, if the
-
heavens above can be measured, and then foundations of the
-
earth searched out beneath, then I will cast off all
-
the offspring of Israel for all that they have done
-
says the Lord. Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord,
-
when the city of Jerusalem shall be built again for
-
the Lord, from the Tower of Hannel to the corner gate.
-
So the Lord makes it very clear that he is
-
for Israel. And you know, he's just saying, look, I
-
you know, if these things are fixed, right, the sun
-
shines during the day, the moon gives us light by night,
-
the sea roars or it steals the waves at his name,
-
And he's saying, these are fixed things that happen. But
-
if they were to suddenly depart, in other words, if
-
the sun stopped shining and the moon stopped kicking light,
-
guess what then the posterity of Israel's going to cease
-
from becoming a nation, from being a nation. But we
-
know that that's not going to happen. So God makes
-
it profoundly clear that he is for Israel. That is
-
not going to change. His covenant is not going to change.
-
He's not a man that he should lie. And let
-
me just close with this. God's binding commitment to physical
-
Israel is so permanent that the natural order would have
-
to be altered before his commitment would come to an end.
-
No matter what Israel does. Okay, listen, clear, no matter
-
what Israel does, God will never forsake them as a
-
distinct people, writes Old Testament scholar Michael Brown, who is
-
a Jewish believer in Jesus. Still some now believe that
-
nation Israel national Israel. Some still believe that national Israel
-
has no further purpose in God's plan. But the Lord
-
answers this assertion in Jeremiah thirty three twenty three through
-
twenty six, where he states his enduring and unshakable It's
-
an unshakable covenant Judah and Israel, he says. Moreover, the
-
word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying, have you
-
not considered what these people have spoken? Saying the two
-
families Judah and Israel, which the Lord has chosen, has
-
he also cast them off? Thus they have despised my people,
-
as if they should no more be a nation before them.
-
Thus says the Lord, if my covenant is not with
-
day and night, and if I have not appointed the
-
ordinances of heaven and earth, then I will cast away
-
the descendants of Jacob and David my servant, so that
-
I will not take any of his descendants to be rulers,
-
over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, for I
-
will cause their captives to return and will have mercy
-
on them. I could go on, but I have run
-
out of time. You know, this obviously is an important day,
-
and I think that we should reflect on what happened
-
a year ago October seventh, the horrible things that the
-
atrocities that were done to the Jewish people, and pray,
-
you know, pray for the peace of Jerusalem, Pray for
-
the people and the nation of Israel. As I've mentioned
-
many times, you have about eighty percent of the Jewish
-
people in Israel who are secular Jews. I mean they
-
don't they do not observe, they don't even observe their Sabbath,
-
their feasts. I mean they're secular, so they're not even
-
following God. And they need to know this God that
-
has such great love and unconditional love for them. So
-
please pray for the Jews, wish people, the nation of Israel,
-
and right now they are in the midst of a
-
mighty war with enemies on all sides, so they certainly
-
do need our prayers. Amen. This is don Noble. You
