  1. Gracius Strother, We thank you tonight for your goodness, your

  2. mercy and your kindness. Thank you because you're good to

  3. us and you're good all the time, and we bless

  4. you tonight. We think you for this night of studying.

  5. Jesus' name Amen, it's Sisatina on here because she was

  6. just she had just called us about getting essys and

  7. I'm not sure whether she got the email or what

  8. actually happened with her.

  9. I don't know if she's on one of these iPhones

  10. or not. I don't see her name on here.

  11. Tina. Are you all okay? Well, we'll go anyway what

  12. we want, what I want to do, and I don't

  13. know how much you guys can see. Can you all

  14. see that if I do that? Okay? That well? Anyway,

  15. what I'm hoping to do is when we are together,

  16. and I'll just bring them Sunday when we're together. What

  17. I'm hoping to do is to get you. It's about

  18. one hundred and thirty two pages, and I have it

  19. spiral bound so that if you are if you miss

  20. Bible study, you still will be able to follow through

  21. what we're following through. But it is an intensive and

  22. it is also a method where you can take notes

  23. as well as, like I said, you can follow along.

  24. You will need your Bible because what we're going to do,

  25. I'm going to give you some background and hopefully I

  26. will be how it will I let you type into

  27. the notes.

  28. Let me see.

  29. HH is that you? No, that wouldn't mean that's our

  30. j hh. That just me. But I don't see the

  31. rest of the notes. All I see is the Lord

  32. is good. That's all that's on there.

  33. Oh.

  34. I was gonna say, as i'm speaking, if you or

  35. how it would type the notes in, it's going to

  36. come in a different color. But if you will type

  37. the notes in, it will help me in that way,

  38. I won't have to be trying to type and teach.

  39. Please please type this.

  40. I'm on my phone. I'm gonna have to look. I mean,

  41. I'll still try. Okay, if we're doing the Book of Deuteronomy,

  42. and the reason why we're doing the Book of Deuteronomy

  43. is because that's what the Lord told me to do.

  44. But I'm going to give you guys some background. But

  45. we're actually going to be using the Bible. So I

  46. want us to get used to using the Bible because

  47. we're actually going to use the Bible. And this is

  48. actually going to be Bible study. It's not going to

  49. be a uh cheerleading session. It's going to be Bible studies.

  50. So you will need the notes. But when you get

  51. a copy of what I have, it will help you.

  52. It's spiral bound to write your notes because what I

  53. have found board get your Bible. What I have found

  54. out is and I have been amazed by this, especially

  55. these last few days. I've been amazed by the fact

  56. that everything in the New Testament is actually fulfilled in

  57. the New Testament, and I actually see it. So they're

  58. gonna be some things that in Deuteronomy are archaic, meaning

  59. they don't apply to today, but they will help us

  60. to understand Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, the other books in

  61. the Bibles. That's the good thing about this particular Bible study.

  62. The Deuteronomy is a part of the Penter took, and

  63. I know these are gonna be heavy words. Pinder took

  64. and spelled p e n t a t e u

  65. c h. Pencer took is spelled p e n t

  66. a t e u c h. And the pincer took

  67. deals with the first five books of the Bible. And

  68. all of us should know first five books of the

  69. Bible Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy. Then it takes over,

  70. Joshua takes over. And when Joshua takes over, it changes

  71. the whole leadership. But the Bible is one book. It

  72. starts from Genesis, the creation of man, and it goes

  73. on down. So it is one book. It's not a

  74. bunch of books. Is one book. When we deal with

  75. as we deal with the Pentertook, we're dealing with the

  76. first five books of the Bible, and they are the

  77. books that are written by Most. Okay, they are the

  78. books that are written by married Phone.

  79. I'm getting ready to mute it.

  80. So we deal with the first five books of the

  81. Bible with all the books that are written by Moses,

  82. most going to be our principal character.

  83. Phone.

  84. That's what keeps storming is Mother, I can't I don't

  85. have access to actually mute them. Okay. So with that,

  86. there you go. Okay. So with that, what's going to

  87. happen is as we look at these first five books

  88. of the Bible, you're going to know how to actually

  89. interpret the whole Bible. Because once you know basic things,

  90. it will open you up to other things. Okay, So

  91. that's that's the So Deuteronomy is the is the is

  92. the fifth book of the pedative. But it is also

  93. called the Torah t o r a h the Torah.

  94. The Torah is the books of the Law. And you

  95. may hear a lot of Old Testament people uh saying

  96. the Torah the us. The Jewish people only have five books.

  97. So the Jewish religion, which is totally different from Christianity,

  98. only has five books. The Jewish Bible only deals with Genesis, Exodus,

  99. Leviticus numbers Deuteronomy. So with that, when we look at

  100. the Torah, we're talking about the first five books, and

  101. we're talking about the story of the children of Israel

  102. coming out of bondage into a place of freedom. I'll

  103. go ahead and tell you, and some people you know

  104. hate it when you when you when you hit the

  105. best part. But I will tell you it is in

  106. Deuteronomy that they actually cross over into the Promised Land.

  107. But let's do a few things. I want to give

  108. you the definition of the word covenant covenant, and you

  109. need to write these things down because a covenant is

  110. a formal agreement or promise between two or more parties

  111. to do a specific action. I'll say that again. A

  112. covenant is a formal agreement, and I underline agreement or promise,

  113. and your underlying promise between two or more parties to

  114. do a specific action. And some people call it a contract,

  115. some people call it an agreement. Most covenants are sealed

  116. in blood, and our covenant is sealed in blood. And

  117. I think that's very important because our church name is

  118. Covenant Church. So I think it's very essential for us

  119. to understand what a covenant is. It is a formal

  120. agreement between two parties, and it's usually sealed in blood.

  121. But it's also a promise between two or more parties

  122. to do something specific. God promises he's going to do something,

  123. we agree to it, and so once we agree, we

  124. are now in covenant, the covenant of marriage. Two people

  125. get together and they say, we promised to love, to

  126. cherish and sickness, and in hell, that's a covenant, Okay.

  127. So it is agreement. And what you see from Genesis, Exodust,

  128. Leviticus numbers Douteronomy, you're going to see that what God

  129. is doing is he is constantly making a covenant. Other

  130. words for covenant are agreement. Other words for agreement are testament.

  131. So God is constantly making a covenant. He's constantly making

  132. agreement with his people, and he's constantly making agreement with us.

  133. He's constantly promising to do something if we would do something.

  134. And that's what you're gonna see in the Book of Deuteronomy,

  135. and you will see in the Torah, the first five

  136. books of the Bible. Okay, So with that, I also

  137. need to give you the information that there are one thousand,

  138. four hundred and fifty idols in Israel during Bible times.

  139. One thousand, four hundred and fifty idols in Israel. So

  140. when the Lord tells them to tear down an idol

  141. and build an altar, it is a serious thing. It's

  142. not just something simple. They're over one thousand, four hundred

  143. and fifty and we have to think about this from

  144. the mindset of the Bible. That's a lot. That's a

  145. lot in one geographical area today in the United States,

  146. if I told you there were one thousand, four hundred

  147. and fifty idols, you wouldn't be surprised. But that's that's

  148. a lot of idols. And God's problem with them was

  149. he brought them out of idle worship, just for them

  150. to keep continuing the same pattern. If you're writing notes,

  151. you should write God does not want us to continue patterns.

  152. Cycles have to be broken. Patterns have to be broken,

  153. Habits have to be broken, Attitudes have to be broken.

  154. And that's even in the Bible. He wants us to

  155. break cycles, habits. Sometimes you have to disconnect from people.

  156. Sometimes you have to disconnect. And we're going to see

  157. that later on in Deuteronomy, because well, I'm sure the

  158. preachers on him may know. God has a big problem

  159. with Moab. Moab. He has a big problem with Moab.

  160. He tells people letter On, He tells the man, don't

  161. marry a more bite woman. He tells people, when you

  162. go into app make sure you don't connect yourself with

  163. the more app people. The problem with that is this,

  164. everybody in the Bible is related to each other. Now

  165. I've told you this before. When Jacob gets married, he

  166. marries two women. He marries Rachel and he marries Leah.

  167. Those are his cousins. Because from the beginning of Genesis

  168. all the way to the end, and y'all might have problems,

  169. all of us is related. So we're all related we're

  170. all connected, We're all joined together some kind of way.

  171. It is not until you start getting into the second, third,

  172. and fourth generation that you start to see that the

  173. relationship line gets broader. Okay, the second thing I need

  174. to tell you is we need to mention that when

  175. God gives this commission for Moses to get the children

  176. of Israel out of Egypt, he also uses a man

  177. by the name of Aaron, And we want to go

  178. ahead and establish that Aaron a A r N Aaron

  179. is the brother of Moses, because Moses feels inadequate. Moses

  180. feels like I can't speak. Moses feels like I'm not

  181. as smart as some other folks. Moses feels like I'm

  182. not as qualified as some other folk. So what ends

  183. up happening is Aaron, the brother of Moses, helps him.

  184. But something happens in the end. And what happens in

  185. the end is Aaron messes up. He makes a golden cow.

  186. And when he makes a golden cow, that's why people

  187. will say now and they get upset. They say people

  188. have problems, or certain groups of people have problems with

  189. gold ear rings, with wearing gold, with wearing gold and

  190. necklaces because what he did was while Moses was in

  191. preparation up talking to God, the people come to him

  192. and they say to him, we want a God. We

  193. want a god we can touch, we want a God

  194. we can feel, we want a God that we can see.

  195. And when he says this, he starts to listen to

  196. the people. And it is encumbering on our leadership that

  197. we not listen to people, because people will talk you

  198. into doing stuff that is against the will of God.

  199. So Aaron takes say give me your goal. I ring

  200. give me your goal. Change, give me all your goal,

  201. and he melts all of the goal and formulates it

  202. into a cow. Now he formulates it into a cow

  203. because the god, the famous god of that time, was

  204. a bull. It was the look the image of a bull.

  205. And with it being an image of a bull, he

  206. was just duplicating it because it was something that was

  207. already common to everybody in Israel. Okay, so those those

  208. are kind of like our our brief They're gonna be

  209. some more so Genesis, because because I want to get

  210. you to Thudonomy. Genesis is the book of beginnings, and

  211. the word Genesis itself means beginnings. It is the first murder.

  212. It is the first marriage, it is the first job,

  213. it is the first temptation. So all first are in

  214. the book of Genesis. So Genesis is the book of beginnings.

  215. It is the birth of the generation and the beginning

  216. of all men. We see the creation of the whole

  217. white world, the first man, and then it goes from there.

  218. But again, it is a continuous story. Is not different

  219. people in Exous, different people in Louke, different people in Matthew.

  220. It's a continuous story. These are our ancestors. This is

  221. where we all of us came from Adam. And that's

  222. important because all of us have the same promises of Abraham.

  223. The promises that are made to Abraham and Genesis are

  224. fulfilled in Deuteronomy, are fulfilled in Matthew, Mark, Luke, John.

  225. What God said he was gonna do for David, he's

  226. doing for us. I said he's gonna do for Abraham.

  227. He's doing for us. Well, God said he was going

  228. to give us, He's giving us. So we have the

  229. promises of Abraham, the promises of David, the promises of Moses.

  230. And that's very important to know. Okay, the second thing

  231. is Exodus. Exodus is just what it says it's an

  232. exit out of Egypt, and Egypt, in case somebody does

  233. not know, is in Africa. So it is our exodus

  234. from Africa to the Promised Land. Now what is chilling

  235. is they get to a place called kardsh Barana Kadesh Barana,

  236. and they get there four times more times they were

  237. on the break of going into the Promised Land and

  238. missed it. So exodus is the exit. It's the way

  239. out of Egypt. It's where God is revealing to the

  240. people they can be free, they no longer have to

  241. be in bondage. It's where God the best word for exodus,

  242. if you're trying to remember it, when one word is freedom.

  243. But they don't make it to the Promised Land until Deuteronomy.

  244. And that's why we're studying Deuteronomy, because that's when they

  245. make it to the Promised Land. But then God says

  246. to them in Deuteronomy, you can't do this in the

  247. promise of the land. You can't take this attitude of

  248. the Promised Land. You can't do this. The wilderness is

  249. a buffer. So whenever God allows you personally to go

  250. through a wilderness, what he's really doing is is he's

  251. trying to get some things out of you before you

  252. receive your promise. So the wilderness is a buffer. God's

  253. trying to get some stuff out of you before he

  254. takes you into your promise. Then you have Leviticus. Leviticus

  255. is the guidebook for teaching God's people about holy living.

  256. To us, a lot of that will be archaic, but

  257. it is the guide book that teaches us about holy living.

  258. It is where we find the rules for the woman

  259. in the New Testament with the issual blood. If a

  260. woman has the issual blood, she's not to send on

  261. her stool, and she sits on her stool, nobody can

  262. sit on the stool after her. If a woman has

  263. the issual blood and she lays in the bed, nobody

  264. can lay in the bed with her, beside her or

  265. after her. Because all of that was considered unclean. It

  266. was it was they didn't Things that they didn't understand

  267. will unclean, leprosy, unclean, today age unclean. Things that they

  268. had no control of or no understanding were considered unclean.

  269. And by the same token, what was happening is stuff

  270. that they could not control. They figured that God was punishing.

  271. We don't take the stance to believe God allowed age

  272. as a punishment. We don't take the stance of God

  273. allowed leprosy for punishment. Now let me go, let me

  274. go back, because there is one case that can prove

  275. that leprosy is a judgment. When Moses gets ready to

  276. get mad, he gets married to a black woman. His

  277. sister Miriam gets upset and goes and confronts Moses, and

  278. God strikes her with leprosy. And the Bible says, from

  279. that point on, she is what we call white, because

  280. you don't we don't know white people. We think we

  281. know white people, but we don't know white people. Very

  282. seldom do you see a white person. You see pink people,

  283. you see people that are shades of white, but a

  284. true white person is really white. And normally that is

  285. from Miriam, a curse of leprosy because she came against

  286. the man of God and try to correct him. So

  287. white people, they used to teach being black as a curse,

  288. I will tell you, according to the Bible, being white

  289. as a curse. Also in that same note, if you

  290. look around the world, three fourths of the whole white

  291. world is our color. Indians are color Africans. Maybe a

  292. little bit darker, but most of them are our color.

  293. So understand, don't ever let anybody tell you black folk

  294. are cursed. We're not cursed. He cursed Miriam and she

  295. became according to the scripture, she became white. Okay. So'

  296. and I mean when I say white, I don't mean

  297. like we see people today. I mean very very like

  298. like the like the color white, because most of us

  299. are not black or white, if you notice it. Okay,

  300. all right, So numbers is the other part of the book.

  301. Numbers recurds is what's experienced, what journeying through the wilderness.

  302. So this is where we see the wilderness was going on.

  303. That's right, you find numbers recourse isra's experience, what journeying

  304. through the wilderness. The people's disobedience, their lack of faith,

  305. how they accused God. It made them wonder in the desert.

  306. And you might as well go ahead and know now

  307. it was a result of murmuring and complaining. They stayed

  308. in the wilderness. Remember, and somebody should write this in

  309. the notes. It is eleven eleven day journey, but they

  310. stay out there for forty years. I mean, excuse me,

  311. forty days, forty years a punishment for an eleven day journey.

  312. They keep going around in circles, and that should say

  313. to us from the psychological perspective, that should say to

  314. us that when you see a person going round and

  315. round the same cycles that we were talking about in

  316. the beginning, that's normally proof that a person is out

  317. of the will of God. They're murmuring, they're complaining, they're

  318. not accepting the will of God. God wants us to

  319. accept his will. We see it in the New Testament,

  320. and we can understand scripture better because it says, not

  321. my will, but God will be done. That's what God

  322. wanted from Israel in the Old Testament, and they wouldn't

  323. do it. And then finally to Deuteronomy, Douuronomy is it's

  324. rich to God's people when they entered the promised Land.

  325. I'm gonna go ahead and let you know, three generations

  326. die before they get to the promised land. Three whole

  327. generations die before they get to the Promised Land. Okay,

  328. and that's because that God had to allow them to

  329. die off they did not inherit or see the promise.

  330. But we also want to correct the fact that when

  331. Moses didn't make it to the Promised Land. Yes he did.

  332. Moses made it to the Promised Land, but he was

  333. not allowed to enter the Promised Land. But what God

  334. said to him from the beginning was take the people

  335. of Israel. Two he didn't say, intrue to the Promised Land. Okay.

  336. Moses is basically, for our understanding, Moses is the pastor,

  337. he's the prophet, he's the shepherd, he's the leader, he's

  338. the head of the church, the people, and there are

  339. some six million people following Moses. Six millions, so it's

  340. the largest church we've ever seen in the world. And

  341. he's taking them from one place to another. So this

  342. is a lesson about how you move people. Before you

  343. can move them physically, you got to be able to

  344. move them mentally. Before you can move them physically, you

  345. got to be able to move them spiritually. Okay. So

  346. with that, uh, if you would open your bibles and

  347. this is I'm gonna the Bible that I'm using is

  348. going to read slightly different, but it's I promise you

  349. it is the Bible. Chapter one is where we're going.

  350. This is God giving them the command to enter Cana

  351. And somebody, please tell me when ten minutes is up

  352. so we can have questions in the last fifteen minutes.

  353. So Israel is God's chosen people. Israel is also us

  354. even today, Israel is God's chosen people. That's why we

  355. should be nervous about everything that's going on across seas,

  356. because they're God's chosen people. They walk in the same

  357. land that Jesus walked in, they talk in the same

  358. area that Jesus talked in, they get baptized in the

  359. same at the Willing Wall. All those things we see

  360. in the Bible are still there today. So Israel is

  361. God's prosen chosen people. And we are spiritual Israel. Though

  362. we were not born in Israel, we are spiritual Israel,

  363. meaning that is our heritage. There is a difference between

  364. the jew and the Christian, but Moses is accepted in

  365. the Christian religion as well as in the Jewish religion.

  366. So Moses's name means in the Hebrew drawn out, drawn out.

  367. We know his experiences. He sees a bush that's burning

  368. with fire, and Pastor Marcus, we've got to make sure

  369. we preach this correctly, because some people, when they preach it,

  370. they don't give the intensity the fire is burning. The bush.

  371. But what gets Moses' attention is the bush does not

  372. burn up. The fire burns, but the bush is not

  373. on fire. The fire is just in the bush. It's

  374. just he can see the fire, and so he turns aside.

  375. Because it is common in the wilderness to see fires.

  376. Tumba weeds they catch on fire, so it was common

  377. to see a fire, it was not common to see

  378. a bush burning and not burning up. So it gets

  379. Moe's attention. Then out of that he hears the voice

  380. of the Lord. And I'm here to tell everybody's on

  381. the Bible studdy of the night, anybody who may be listening,

  382. I'm here to tell you you're getting ready to enter a

  383. period with God where you're going to hear see his

  384. voice everywhere. God uses everything. He uses the wind, he

  385. uses the thunder, he uses the snow, he uses the

  386. red birds, the blue birds. And if you are sensitive

  387. to hearing God, you will hear or see Him in

  388. every aspect of nature. People used to laugh. We went

  389. to see Purple Rain back in the day, and we

  390. were in there shouting. Because God will speak to you,

  391. even through movies, even through television shows, even through people

  392. that are not saved, God will speak to you. And

  393. I want everybody to understand that God is getting ready

  394. to heighten your sensitivity so that you're going to hear

  395. and see God. Because there are many manifestations of God

  396. that we've never experienced, that we've never paid any attention to.

  397. So that's a new phase of your life where you're

  398. getting ready to hear Him. And sometimes we have to

  399. make our hearing more sensitive to him because sometimes he's

  400. speaking and we're going past it because we think, oh,

  401. that's just me talking, or that's just my stomach talking,

  402. or that's just my mama talking. But you have to

  403. be sensitive to the voice of the Lord because he

  404. uses everything in order to speak. So Chapter one, these

  405. are the words which Moses spoken to all Israel. And

  406. hopefully you have your Bible on this side of the Jordan,

  407. in the wilderness and the plane over against the Red

  408. Sea between Paran tofal and Levan and Hazardth and desert

  409. have So God is now speaking to the whole generation.

  410. And excuse but he's using Moses to speak. This is

  411. Moses' third time because two generations have already died off.

  412. So now he's speaking again to a general, a new generation.

  413. And I used to wonder why we have had to

  414. repeat things at our church. It's because sometimes one generation

  415. dies off and you haven't introduced God to the next generation.

  416. So he's introducing them. So when he does this, he's

  417. actually getting ready to release the Second Law. I would

  418. say to you, anything that God says, he says it

  419. more than once. He may say it a different way,

  420. he may use a different person, but he always anything

  421. that's important, he's going to reiterate. So Moses in the

  422. previous book has come down with the ten Commandments, his

  423. brother Aaron, has listened to his brother Aaron, who is

  424. the assistant investor, has listened to the people and has

  425. formulated a cow. And one of the commandments on the

  426. tablet says thou should have no other God before me.

  427. He throws the tablets down and he breaks the ten Commandments.

  428. So here in Deuteronomy, we're going to see God again

  429. because the tablets were different. It wasn't something Moses created.

  430. It was like the bell of a temple. God did

  431. it because what he did was he etched on stone

  432. what he wanted to say, and Moses just brought it down.

  433. So God again is going to have to etch in

  434. stone what he wants to say. Verse two says there

  435. are eleven days. This is it bears the fact that

  436. this is an eleven day journey from horror now horror

  437. in your Bible. You should take horror and you should

  438. draw a line. When you get this Bible study book,

  439. you'll be able to do it in here because it

  440. has the Bible on the left. It has place for

  441. notes on the right. But Horror is Mount Sinai. They're

  442. the same place. And it's important that we know that

  443. Sinai is Horror because Horror is where God gave the

  444. law the first time Sinai mount Sinai, mount Horror by

  445. the way of Mount seer unto kordesh Barana. In the

  446. inner that second verse, what you should know is kdessh

  447. Barana is less than three hundred miles from the Promised Land.

  448. It's less than less than The whole passage helps us

  449. to understand that geographically from Egypt to the Promised Land,

  450. it's two hundred and fifty miles. So they're walking two

  451. hundred and fifty miles and it takes them forty years

  452. when it should have only taken them eleven days. And

  453. of course today we don't want to walk nowhere, we

  454. would drive. But in Bible days they didn't have Christ

  455. Loers and Bury and Mercedes, so walking was their normal

  456. way of getting to a place. So it's not anything strange.

  457. First three says, and it came to pass in the

  458. fortieth year, so forty years. And in the eleventh month

  459. forty years, eleven months, and on the first of the

  460. month that Moses spoken to the children of Israel, according

  461. to all that the Lord had given him in the

  462. commandments unto them. And you need to underline the word commandment,

  463. because God does not just speak in commandments. We have

  464. ten commandments. The Jewish faith has six hundred and twelve laws,

  465. so if they want to be a good Jew they

  466. have to do six hundred and twelve laws that they

  467. have to obey. But you got the commandments, you got

  468. the six hundred and twelve laws, you got the Bible,

  469. and you have the word of God that comes or

  470. proceeds out of the mouth of God. And there you

  471. should have thought about the scripture. Man should not live

  472. by read a law, but by every word that precedes

  473. out of the mouth of God. So when God speaks,

  474. he's not just speaking through the Commandments. He's not just

  475. speaking through the laws. He's not just speaking through the Bible.

  476. He can speak audibly. He can speak through the wind,

  477. he can speak through the rain. So you have to

  478. be sensitive to hear his voice. Verse four says after

  479. he had slain Siam, the king of the Amorites, which

  480. dwell in Hespond, and all the king of Bashah, which

  481. dealt at Astrat in Ederra, this is dealing with Moses.

  482. Moses has conquered the king because while all of these

  483. people are connected, they broke off and fragmented into other people.

  484. And what ended up happening is some of the other groups,

  485. once they broke off, they got their own identity, and Israel,

  486. although they were kin to them, became their enemies. And

  487. it's like people in our life who all of a

  488. sudden come our enemies, and we don't know why, or

  489. they don't agree with what we agree with, so all

  490. of a sudden, what they do is they become our enemies. Okay.

  491. Verse five says, on this side of Jordan, in the

  492. land of Moab, began Moses to declare this law, saying

  493. you should circle mo Ab because Moab is going to

  494. be a very important place in our lesson. Remember I

  495. say in the beginning Moab. God has something against Moab

  496. because Moab not only broke off from Israel became their enemy.

  497. They sneak attacked them, They attacked them. Everybody else attacked

  498. them face to face. Moab snuck up on them and

  499. attack them from the back. So God puts a curse

  500. on Moab. However, Moab is related to the children of Israel,

  501. because all of these people are related. Remember what I

  502. said verse six. So the Lord, our God spoke unto

  503. us in horror, so he's reminding them. The Lord spoke

  504. to us at Sinai. He gave us a tinkermandmage. But

  505. he said to them, you have dwelt here in bondage

  506. too long, and on the notes that you're gonna get

  507. us as horror as a place where the commanders who

  508. were given and the name means a dry place or

  509. a glowing heat. I will end and open up for

  510. questions at verse six by telling you God was the

  511. fire in the bush that Moses heard. God was the fire.

  512. It was not just a fire, It was God himself

  513. in the bush. But the bush did not get consumed.

  514. Later in this book, we're going to see that God

  515. can be a consuming fire, meaning not only can God

  516. occupy a bush and speak out of the fire, God

  517. also can consume the person. He can burn the person up,

  518. He can burn your life up. Because God is and

  519. you heard this for years, but I want you to

  520. know where this stuff comes from. God is, and you

  521. should write this in your notes. God is a consuming fire.

  522. But when God is a consuming fire, he is bringing judgment.

  523. We want the fire that burns in the bush that

  524. speaks to us so we know God. We don't want

  525. to be at the end of the consuming fire, because

  526. the consuming fire is the judgment of God. Okay, so

  527. we're gonna stop at verse seven because at verse seven,

  528. Moses is he has them right on the promised land.

  529. If I was saying this tonight to you, I was saying,

  530. you get your only two steps from your promise. You're

  531. right on the brink of your miracle. But before he

  532. does that, he's got to say some things. He's got

  533. to get them ready because they want the fire that

  534. burns in the bush and not the consuming fire. And

  535. if we were balancing it with the New Testament, we

  536. would say this, no, ye, not judgment. Begins in the

  537. house of God. God never does anything without a warning,

  538. never does anything without speaking to us. And that's not

  539. for us to be afraid of him. That's not for

  540. us to be scared of him. That is for us

  541. to understand how God works. The scripture says to take commandments.

  542. Say God is a jealous God. He doesn't want to

  543. share us with anybody. He doesn't want us to have

  544. our attention on anything other than him. We'll open the lines,

  545. Lady Howard, will open the lines so that people who

  546. may have questions about what I've taught can get it.

  547. The lines are open. If you have questions, you can

  548. raise your hand, or you can just speak. It may

  549. be don't be afraid. It may be a question that

  550. somebody else has too, or something to help you understand.

  551. Everybody has to unmute themselves. It won't let me use them.

  552. You have to unmut yourself. Ask questions. Nobody has any questions.

  553. I say God had a problem because say that against Chad.

  554. Okay, you said God had a problem Moa because of

  555. the Idol worship and because he snuck attack the children

  556. of Israel, and he was part of the children of Israel.

  557. Yeah, it's a group of people. Whenever we see these

  558. names like Moab, the Amorites, the Hittites, the Purchase Sights,

  559. all of those are part of the twelve original Sons

  560. of Israel. But what happens is they become the enemy

  561. of each other. And when Moabs group came out, instead

  562. of them facing Israel and fighting them face to face

  563. like a family fight, they would sneak attack. And when

  564. they would sneak attack, it may God bring judgment on them.

  565. So God says, don't marry a mobile woman. God said,

  566. you know, don't dwell in more Ab because more Ab

  567. was one of those groups that turned away from God

  568. and all of them started becoming great heavy idol worshipers. Okay,

  569. thank you, thank you. Yes, you're sending to welcome other questions.

  570. And I want us to understand the Bible. I don't

  571. want us just to be reading it. I want us

  572. to understand it. And I promise you, as we go deeper,

  573. this is going to help you to understand the New Testament.

  574. Why God says this, Why God told Moses this to God?

  575. Tell Peter this, Why did God say this to Paul?

  576. You will understand it as we go along. If you

  577. stick with me. But like I said, we're going to

  578. have a guide that you'll still be able to follow

  579. us even when you can't be on here. If if

  580. you have to miss a week or something, you'll still

  581. be able to follow. Other questions, no questions. I'm trying

  582. to see if I got my question people on here? Yeah,

  583. no other questions, Yes, James Jen The answer is yes. Basically,

  584. it's a study of Deuteronomy because we want to study

  585. the Book of Deuteronomy, because I promise you the more

  586. knowledge you have of the I think that shouting is good.

  587. I think there screaming is good. But if we don't

  588. know how to interpret the Bible and make it applicable

  589. to our own lives, we miss the essence. You just

  590. hear a preacher say turn here, and you don't know

  591. what they're talking about. It's going to be important that

  592. we know. Like we just said about Moab, the sons

  593. of it's a car, who are they? Why are they

  594. in our Bible? Because they're not just mentioned in the

  595. Old Testament, they're mentioned in the New Testament. They grow

  596. out and they start to expand. So we need to

  597. know all of these groups and know why they're in

  598. our Bible. So basically, this is a study of Deuteronomy

  599. so that we can understand the entire Bible, and we'll,

  600. you know, we'll keep going down. And I'm trying to

  601. make it so simplistic that even if our young people

  602. get on here, they will be able to understand it.

  603. What's the title the book Apossible? The Study of Goodiful?

  604. What book the God? Oh, it's one that I made.

  605. Howard has seen it and she can vouch for it.

  606. It's one that I made because what it does is

  607. it puts the Bible down. I already have notes on here,

  608. but it also helps you to expand your notes. Is

  609. what it's going to do is it's gonna make you think,

  610. if you if you do your work outside of us

  611. being here together for an hour, if you do your work,

  612. it's going to help you understand the whole entire Bible.

  613. Because it has notes. That's some kind of way I

  614. can put it up. But I don't know all that

  615. how to do all that. But it has notes. It

  616. defines because when anytime you study in the Bible, you

  617. want to know what a name mean, what his name

  618. Moses mean. Everybody should know. Its drawn out. Why does

  619. God call him drawn out? Drawn out? Is he was

  620. in the river and God picked him up. I'll give

  621. you another example, and that I let minister Howard talk.

  622. If you would look in the Book of Genesis, because

  623. I'm doing Genesis like I'm doing Deuteronomy now. In the

  624. Book of Genesis it says that there was a river

  625. that went through the garden of Eton, and it went

  626. in four different directions. What we should take from something

  627. like that is this God intends for us to be successful.

  628. That everybody listening tonight has four streams of income because

  629. each one of those streams went into a different place.

  630. So not only to teach you what the Bible says,

  631. but to teach you revelation and how to interpret the Bible,

  632. and how to know what is saying and not take

  633. somebody else's word for it, Lady Howard.

  634. Yes, sir Bishop. So my question is we know that

  635. Moses grew up in Pharaoh's house. Is his first encounter

  636. with God although his mother was an Israelite? Is his

  637. first encounter with God with the bush? In seeing the bush?

  638. I mean his first one? Is that his first knowledge

  639. of God is what I'm saying, or had he been

  640. taught in that way, in the way.

  641. His first knowledge of the true and living God is

  642. the bush the pharaoh's house. And please let me tell

  643. you and everybody's your this in your notes. Pharaoh is

  644. not a person. It's a system. It's a system of

  645. bondage you oppressed, to keep you down, to keep you

  646. mentally drained. That's what a pharaoh is. A pharaoh in

  647. Israel is like a king. Okay, he's just like a king.

  648. So he's in charge of the land. However, remember I

  649. keep telling you there are Moses encounters three different pharaoh rameses,

  650. and we'll go through all that later three. But his

  651. first encounter is he grows up in the house of

  652. the pharaoh. God allows him to grow up in the

  653. house of his enemies, to learn how they act, to

  654. talk like they talk, to live like they live. But

  655. then he's going to have to leave them because he

  656. hears the voice of God that says, now leave them

  657. and go back and save your people. So he's a liberator,

  658. he's a shepherd, he's a prophet, he's a priest. And

  659. now he's been given his assignment. His assignment is out.

  660. But God gave him the background knowledge to know how

  661. things work in Pharaoh's house. That's unique, but I can.

  662. Let's put that with life. Each one of you don't

  663. even realize it. The assignment that God has for your

  664. life is based on what you've been living. I worked

  665. at Salem College, and when I got there, I had

  666. to do job descriptions. I had to do all of

  667. this stuff. I'm like, Lord Jesus, I got this job.

  668. I thought this job was going to be wonderful, but

  669. the Lord knew I was going to need to know

  670. how to be a pastor. I learned how to be

  671. a pastor working at Salem College. And I promise you

  672. whatever your feel of expert, he says, God is preparing

  673. you for your spiritual assignment. You just don't know it.

  674. He teaches you, and you don't know you've been taught.

  675. Most didn't know he was being taught. But he's on

  676. the backside of medium for forty years. But Moses keeps

  677. having to go through these forty year preparations. We don't

  678. have time in our land to go through forty years

  679. of preparation. Hopefully I answered your question. You did bishuh,

  680. thank you? Okay, I have.

  681. One yes, yeah, darl I got a question on the

  682. doom the book of You went back.

  683. When you're going.

  684. Back and you're talking about the three generations, who are

  685. the three generations?

  686. The three generations are all people from that that like us.

  687. The child Israel, but dies because they won't listen. The

  688. last part I say, broach generation dies out because they

  689. won't listen. And we don't want to be part of

  690. a generation that dies out because we're not listening to God.

  691. Right this and this is the third generation. The third

  692. generation enters into the Promised Land because Moses, Moses has

  693. to go back and tell them because you questioned God,

  694. because you questioned me as your pastor, because you acted

  695. like you acted murdering the complain, you will not see

  696. the Promised Land. And if y'all remember in the Book

  697. of Numbers, they send twelve spies go check out the

  698. Promised Land and tell me how it is. Only two

  699. spies come back with a good report. So it is

  700. how you look at things. Are you a half half

  701. field cut or are you a do you see the

  702. whole thing? Are you optimistic or are you pestimistic? Do

  703. you question everything or do you just And the Greek

  704. word is p I s t O S trust God.

  705. He wants us to trust them when we can't trace them,

  706. Trust them when you can't figure it out. Trust them

  707. with your life, trust them with your job. Trust him

  708. that he that he's doing what his word says. We

  709. say it, all things work together for good to them

  710. that love God, but we don't really believe it, because

  711. if we believed that, we will believe in the providential

  712. nature of God. Everything God does is good. It's for

  713. our will. It hurts. I don't understand it, but sometimes

  714. it's like a toothache. God gotta let your tooth hurt

  715. before you go to the Dennist Right. You know you

  716. got writing tea, but God, I gotta let it hurt. Then,

  717. when when he let it hurt, you say, oh Lord,

  718. I can't take this no more. You break up with somebody,

  719. When you break up with from God gotta let it

  720. hurt because that person wasn't for you and you got

  721. to start that old no good. He wasn't no good,

  722. no way. Why did you see that ten years ago?

  723. Now you see it and you said, I don't never

  724. want to deal with him. God sometimes has to allow

  725. pain in order for us to change our direction. And

  726. that's what he's doing to the children of visual Okay,

  727. thank you, got time for one more question?

  728. I got one for you, Bishop, go ahead, he is,

  729. I mean, it's a simple one, but so he said,

  730. The Pentitook. The Pentitook is the first five books of

  731. the Bible written by Moses. So does it start at

  732. Deuteronomy or does it start at Genesis.

  733. It starts at Genesis, and it's amazing that he's writing

  734. the story of what happened even before he can on

  735. the scene.

  736. So in study, why do we start with Deuteronomy.

  737. We started with Deuteronomy because I think Deuteronomy gives us

  738. a full picture looking back. And what we'll do is

  739. we'll go back to some of the other books, especially Genesis,

  740. because I love Genesis where it talks about and the

  741. spirit of God moved on the face of the earth.

  742. We didn't have rain in Genesis. The way that the

  743. earth got water is like it gets watered. Now if

  744. you go out every morning, there's dew on the grass.

  745. But something happens to mess that up. But we want

  746. to deal with the aspects of the Deuteronomy church because

  747. it's going to help us to understand our relationship with

  748. our leader, our relationship with God and our personal relationship.

  749. But we'll probably go backwards now. We may not deal

  750. with Leviticus because Leviticus is deep. Leviticus have all of

  751. us scratching our head on what right, what ain't right,

  752. because a lot of that is religious
