  1. You're listening to a message to go from as church. We hope this message

  2. will light up your day. I've just entitled my message Heaven rules our Conduct.

  3. Okay, I hope it makes sense. My going quite deep. But

  4. I ask and I urge you all to try to stay with me as I

  5. share as I teach on this portion of scripture taken from Matthew six Versus twelve

  6. to fifteen, which is actually the Lord's Prayer. And I'm just going to

  7. emphasize on a portion of the Lord's Prayer from verse twelve that says, this

  8. is no, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debt us

  9. and do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

  10. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

  11. And then verse fourteen he goes on to say this, for if you

  12. forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if

  13. you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your father forgive your trespasses.

  14. Okay. And also that's when we read that is like, okay,

  15. let's let's let's process this. I'm going to process all this so, okay,

  16. so we call this the Lord's prayer, right, It's part of the

  17. Lord's prayer. He starts off, of course, our Father, who what

  18. in heaven, Hello, would be their name, that kingdom come, that

  19. will be done on earth as it days in heaven. Give us this day

  20. our daily bread, and then comes to this part forgive us our debts or

  21. forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Okay,

  22. but do you realize that this is a prayer that, even though it's

  23. called the Lord's prayer, technically the Lord could not have used it himself,

  24. especially the part that says forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debts

  25. as well. Maybe Jesus could possibly have used the second half of that phrase,

  26. because you know, when people will speaking at him, and when they

  27. were laughing at him, and when they eventually drove nails into his hands,

  28. basically he's raised, he actually saved Father. Forgive them, for they know

  29. not what they do. However, he could not have said the first part

  30. of the petition because I think all of us people humankind will unanimously agree that

  31. Jesus was without sin. I mean, if he's without saying why would he

  32. say forgive me? Right? So that's why, that's how I will come

  33. to that conclusion that, well, Jesus never needed to say forgive me because

  34. he was the spotless, sinless, blameless son of God. Amen. Okay,

  35. the closer you live to the Lord, the more you feel you must

  36. say every day forgive us our deb Okay, let let's establish a few principles

  37. and understanding first. And why do I say that? Well, I really

  38. believe if Heaven really rules our lives, then it is it's very important that

  39. Heaven must rule our conduct and how we carry ourselves, especially when it comes

  40. to our relationship with God. You know, this is our team for the

  41. year. Heaven rules. What does it make? What does it mean?

  42. Well, I'm slowly breaking down all my teachings and my sermons into Heaven's got

  43. the rule every bit of our lives, whether it's in our hate, in

  44. our hearts, in our actions now in our conduct. And you know,

  45. this tells us a number of things about what true prayer really is. Firstly,

  46. true prayer must always include the word forgive as well as the word give,

  47. because if you analyze your prayers, you may find that you really you

  48. use, give more than you use forgiven. God, give me this,

  49. give me health, give me wealth, give me everything that I need,

  50. Give me comfort, give me money, give me peace, give me joy

  51. is a lot, give me, give me, give me, and that

  52. is normal. All of us do that. But a good prayer always go

  53. on from give to forgive. This tells us also that we are to bring

  54. to God the needs of our soul as well as the needs of our body.

  55. Because, after having asked give us this day our daily break, which

  56. is something that our body needs, a physical need, we should always ask

  57. forgive me because don't just feed the body, you need feeding for the soul.

  58. And he tells me also that I must constantly remember this that what I

  59. desire and what I deserve are two opposite things. Have ever given thought about

  60. that what I desire and what I deserve? You see, we are all

  61. sinners, and when we say to God give me, we must immediately remind

  62. ourselves that we do not deserve to be given anything. I kid you not.

  63. Sometimes it's hard to accept that no, because we always have this right

  64. kind of mentality. This is my right I, this is what I should

  65. be given. This is you know, in reality, we have no rights.

  66. We have forsaken all our rights when we when there is sin in our

  67. lives. That's that's the reality, you know. I work with a lot

  68. of asylum seekers and refugees um and of course when they come to Malaysia,

  69. they firstly I always tell them, where do you come to Malaysia? It

  70. is the worst place to come because they will mistreat a lot of our asylum

  71. seekers and refugees. That's the reality of it, because we never signed the

  72. Treaty UH to the to the to the Refugee Convention, which tells us or

  73. basically our government uses that as a I don't need to do anything for you.

  74. That's the reality of it. But sometimes when the asylum seekers come,

  75. they will tell me that, no, the government is supposed to take care

  76. of us. UNHR is supposed to provide us for all our every days.

  77. This is what we deserve. And while yeah, I mean from a humanitarian

  78. point of view, I'm trying my best to help them, but sometimes I've

  79. got to remind them that really you don't deserve anything from this land because in

  80. the eyes of the government, you're not it's citizens. That's the reality of

  81. it. They are not citizens. They are not even migrants here with proper

  82. permit, no permission. Basically, they came in illegally, and the law

  83. will always treat them as black, not gray, not even gray. But

  84. if they come in with the this is my rights. I always have to

  85. prepare them because what's lying I hate is a long journey of really just trusting

  86. in the lot for a lot of our asylum, secrecy and Malaysia. But

  87. it's the same thing, no, So that's why I'm trying to get at.

  88. What we desire and what we deserve are two opposite things. Not a

  89. lot of times, no, we think that we deserve every thing from the

  90. Lord. You know, we answered this the sinner's prayer, and then hey,

  91. my life is supposed to change, is supposed to be comfortable, It

  92. supposed to be all good. The Lord will provide for my every single need.

  93. But I'm always reminded myself I'm a sinner, and basically, as a

  94. sinner, I have I deserve. I don't. I can't deserve, I

  95. can't claim to deserve anything. That's the reality away because when I come to

  96. the Lord in debt position, I know where I stand. So let's look

  97. at it from another perspective, which is more important our obligation to God as

  98. our heavenly father, or should the focus just be his obligation to us.

  99. Again, we're looking at perspectives, sir, because if God is my heavenly

  100. father, he has an I mean, we always have this. God,

  101. You're my heavenly father. You have an obligation to feed me, to clothe

  102. me. And that's why I do not need to worry about the food on

  103. the table while I'm eating what I'm drinking, because God, you are under

  104. that obligation, which in a way it's not wrong. But as a father,

  105. God has claimed me and adopted me each and every one of you,

  106. as well as his sons and daughters, So it is now his obligation to

  107. feed and to clothe his children. We can claim that no doubt. But

  108. if I only think of his obligation to me as my father, and not

  109. mine to him, then this is a very one sided prayer. Do you

  110. realize that the lord's prayer becomes very rare and one sided? So then the

  111. question is do we even have an obligation to God? What is our obligation

  112. to God? Well, our obligation to him is actually to live a holy

  113. life because he is a holy God, and to live a perfect life because

  114. He is perfect. And this is why we need to say forgive, because

  115. we can't possibly do that on ourselves or by ourselves. That's the reality of

  116. it. I know when you see the word perfect, we're like, oh,

  117. that's when you realize you don't deserve anything right because none of us,

  118. none of us can claim to be perfect. But I believe scripture, and

  119. Scripture says that we are being perfected. We're being perfected into His image.

  120. No one day. I believe when we meet Jesus face to face, the

  121. work of the Holy Spirit in our lives will be complete. But it's not

  122. just one sided. Remember it's not just one sided. Let's understand it from

  123. a two way perspective. So let's understand the prayer that Jesus taught his disciples

  124. because there is a petition with a condition attached to it, and many people

  125. have difficulties over this condition. Forgive us our debts. We sometimes pray that

  126. it stops there, but no, it didn't stop there. It goes on

  127. with as we forgive our debtors. But let's start with the first partner.

  128. I'm gonna I'm gonna teach party part. Let's start with the first part.

  129. Forgive us everyone still me don't don't know false labor. The phrase forgive us

  130. in itself presents some difficulties for many believers. Something it as bad for Christians

  131. to actually pray forgive us our sins, because they say it will sort of

  132. create this very inferior kind of feeling, a guilt complex within Christians that will

  133. cause them to always be digging around their own souls and looking for their sin.

  134. So some people like forgive us our sins, always looking for our sins

  135. like that. What they want instead, of course, is to get away

  136. from all the sense of guilt and into joy and peace and never have to

  137. think of sin and that and just think of salvation me. Okay, So

  138. that's one one way. Then there are also some Christians who think they do

  139. not need to pray the Lord's prayer because when they came to Christ, all

  140. their sins were forgiven pass and sometimes they think all the future scenes are also

  141. completely forgiven, and so they are finished with that and they could just live

  142. in the glory of God. Okay, So why do we think Jesus gave

  143. us the Lord's Prayer is the question that we have to ask. And let

  144. me begin by saying that I think the Lord's Prayer was given to the disciples

  145. to follow Christ, follow his ways. It's a guide to show how our

  146. dependence on God really is. Because you realize this, he didn't give it

  147. to the crowds. He called his disciples to him. Yes, she called

  148. it. Come and then they say, teach us to pray. So his

  149. disciples were the ones that said teach us to pray, and he was telling

  150. them how to pray, how to do it. So I take it that

  151. he taught the Lord's prayer to those who are following him as his disciples,

  152. a prayer of how we should conduct ourselves toward God and toward one another.

  153. Now, of course, there are these two extremes that we must be very

  154. careful too. Extremes, And I'll build from the idea that I just talked

  155. to you all about. One is the idea that there will never be any

  156. more need for confessions or forgiveness in a Christian's life. Some as we come

  157. to this place where we're like a safe really, no one need to talk

  158. about sin anymore. It's like forever safe. I think that it's quite an

  159. extreme view, and I'm not sure if the Bible will be able to fully

  160. verify that, because it is to Christians that the Apostle John wrote this,

  161. if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our

  162. sins and to cleanse us from all and righteousness. You see that in one

  163. John chapter one night Thing or chapter three, I can't remember, but that's

  164. the Apostle John saying that. So it is extreme to say that once you

  165. become a Christian, your sins are forgiven, past, present, and future.

  166. I believe the past, yes, it's been wiped out. But unless

  167. you're claiming to me that as a Christian you will never ever seen after you

  168. know God, which I can't claim that. Okay, some of you may

  169. be able to. Then well let's let's let's continue on this. No that

  170. that means from then on, no more confession or because that's how some people

  171. actually assume that no more forgiveness is required. That's one extreme. The other

  172. extreme is this some believers seem to be in an outsalvation from Sunday to the

  173. next Sunday. Basically, they come to church on Sunday and they know that

  174. they are Christian. I'm a Christian on Sunday, and then comes Monday and

  175. suddenly they did something not right on Monday, and then after doing something all

  176. right, they'll be like, I don't know whether I'm a Christian or not.

  177. How many of you all have honestly gone through that as a young believer,

  178. every time we fall short of the glory of God that we are like

  179. God, place or give me a place, for give me place, for

  180. give me. You know, I don't know whether I'm safe or not.

  181. It is the reality, you know, because after sinning is when we feel

  182. guilty. And whenever we feel guilty, we think we are no longer Christian.

  183. And then come Sunday again, a La Luia praised, a lot of

  184. the Word is preached, and then we're like, okay, I'm a believer,

  185. and then it comes to Monday like, oh man, I did something

  186. wrong. Basically, the assurance is not there, in and out, in

  187. and out. No, there's almost like they are no. They have no

  188. assurance that they are God's children. So these are the two extremes now I

  189. was talking about. One is you don't need to confess anymore because forever,

  190. forever and ever save the other one is I'm not sure whether I'm safe.

  191. I might say, am I not safe? Okay? So on the one

  192. hand, there are those who say I'm finished with sins altogether, and then

  193. there are dolls in the other hand who say that I never know whether I'm

  194. a Christian or not because I've committed sin. I don't think any of these

  195. are the biblical positions. So let me take you to the face of the

  196. passover. Okay, face of the passover. Sometimes we will call this the

  197. upper room experience. I'm looking at time. I think I'm good for a

  198. time upper room experience, because you will actually see in the Gospels, No.

  199. From Matthew chapter twenty six, Mark chapter fourteen, Luke twenty two,

  200. and in detail is John chapter thirteen Versus one to thirty eight, because this

  201. is where Jesus was actually having a meal with the disciples. The account.

  202. Of course, it's a little bit more detail in John chapter thirteen, because

  203. I'm going to draw you to what happened before the markan Okay, and so

  204. this was, of course Jesus washing the feet of the disciples. Okay,

  205. Let's let's see what kind of truth we can draw out from that because Jesus

  206. actually took the towel, right, you remember, and he was about to,

  207. I think wash the disciples with Peter, and he says, Peter,

  208. I want to wash your feet. And then Peter tried efforts to refuse,

  209. right, he was like, hey, Lord, cannot cannot, how can

  210. I you wash my feet? And then je said, if I don't wash

  211. you, we can't be friends. Read the scriptures. He actually says that

  212. we kind of fellowship. Basically, he says, you can have no part

  213. with me, which means we can't have fellowship together. So then Peter's song

  214. all the way to the other extreme because he says, well, then washed

  215. me all over, right, He said that was my fee. Okay,

  216. now now wash everything. And then Jesus had to gently tell him that he

  217. didn't need washing all over now because he has been washed. But there were

  218. there was dirt that he picked up. And how many of you all know,

  219. back in the Jewish culture time, they wore sandals everywhere they went.

  220. So wherever they walk, naturally the dirtiest part of their body is the feet,

  221. and so when they walk into anyone's house, they will wash the feet

  222. first, okay. And so basically Jesus told him that I only need to

  223. wash your feet because that is where the dirt is. You pick up the

  224. dirt on your feet. So Jesus wanted to clean the feet to keep the

  225. fellowship between them. You wanted to clean that part. And I believe Jesus

  226. was actually saying something about this whole issue that we were talking about previously.

  227. Because a Christian who has been born again comes to Christ right all of us

  228. as believers, if you are assured of your salvation born again, you will

  229. go through the waters of baptism. I pray most of us, if not

  230. all of us, have as believers, gone through the waters of baptism.

  231. If you have not, I urge you and encourage you to go through the

  232. waters of baptism because that's an important part and an important journey of our salvation

  233. process. You know, when you are being washed from hate to toe,

  234. basically you are washed clean, and you are washed clean through the Word of

  235. God. That is why we don't need to go through the waters of baptism

  236. over and over and over again. How any of you had to go through.

  237. Someone preach to you that no one time, not enough, no au

  238. nati fla. Let me wash you again. Right, you entrade once and

  239. you trust and you believe that your faith is a shurled. But the reality

  240. is, as you walk through life, there's going to be picking up of

  241. the all of us have that. I mean, you think I'm as a

  242. preacher and as an elder. You know there's no there's no form, No

  243. I can I can have a wrong thought, and that's picking up that.

  244. Honestly. I can have wrong conduct. I can say something wrong like I

  245. look at Moses man nice suit. I wish I had that suit. That

  246. is a wrong conduct. Uh. And that's the reality of We pick up

  247. on our feet as we walk, and we will need daily washing. And

  248. that's why Jesus is saying, I want to wash your feet. Let me

  249. do that. If I don't wash your feet, we can't be friends,

  250. we can't have fellowship. So in other words, I believe Scripture teaches us

  251. that if a Christian sins as Christians do and doesn't get forgiven, they send

  252. to lose that fellowship with the Lord. You stend to be outside of his

  253. presence. They lose the joy in prayer, their life of worship becomes dune,

  254. their desire to share Christ with other people just takes a back seat.

  255. It is this that Jesus was bordered about, and it is this that the

  256. Lord's Prayer is about, because it is a daily cleansing to keep your fellowship

  257. with the Lord pure and sweet and clean. You'll see that, to allow

  258. Heaven to rule our conduct. So we must take note of some of the

  259. words that the New Testament actually uses for sin. Let's let's think no sound

  260. of the words are that we so that we get a better idea and a

  261. better context of the Lord's prayer. The first word is we have all okay.

  262. So there's anomia, which means lawlessness, and then there's parabases which means

  263. you know, you step over or you trespass, which is some of the

  264. translations that we get trespassed to step over the line. Now, I just

  265. want to highlight this. Neither of these two words will actually use in the

  266. Lord's Prayer. So sometimes using the word trespass might not help connote the best

  267. and the clearest translation. But no worry, I will continue teaching the third

  268. word that sometimes we see that actually represents sin. Basically, these are all

  269. words that sin. Can you can find the different Greek words that are using

  270. to use to describe sin is harmasha. The third word which just means to

  271. miss your mark. The fourth word is paraphtoma, which means you fall on

  272. an icy road. Basically, you sleep when you don't intend to sleep.

  273. It's like accidentally doing something that's not right. And then the thief. And

  274. the last word which comes in this very passage in Matthew six, is this

  275. word or fair lima, and that means your death's your whole tongue, okay,

  276. the deaths that you owe, what you owe a person. And it

  277. is this word that is actually used in the Lord's prayer in Matthew. So

  278. the word death or death is actually a clearer translation. It's not so much

  279. trespassing that we are thinking about. That's why forgive us our debts would probably

  280. give us a clearer understanding. And if you think about it, it is

  281. actually falling short of our target and is owing God something, not having done

  282. what we should have done. Okay. Actually this forgiveness is for what we

  283. call sometimes the sins of omission, what you did not do, rather than

  284. the sins of commission. That means what you did is what you did not

  285. do. Okay, Let let me try to explain this. I hope I

  286. don't lose you. Have you ever felt like you have come to the end

  287. of the day and like, ah, shucks, I think I didn't do

  288. some things which I should have done. Okay. I don't know whether any

  289. Christian would dare say no, I got to the end of every day and

  290. I've done every single thing, and I've done it right. I have not

  291. ever experienced that. There's always did I spend enough time my kids? Do

  292. they? Okay? I really believe that when anyone walks closely with the Lord,

  293. the more you think of the things you should have said, or the

  294. things you should have done, or the messages you should have sent to someone

  295. instead of say, watching YouTube, etc. You will realize that there are

  296. quite a lot of things that we did not do. I did not say

  297. a kind word, I didn't take the trash out, Darren. You know,

  298. that's the reality of it. The more you look at your life,

  299. the more you realize the things that you did not do. So the Lord's

  300. prayer is not so much concerned with the bad things that you did, but

  301. the emphasis is actually on the good things that you did not do. And

  302. this show gives it a very different perspective right. The good things that you

  303. did not do. This is important because it can spoil your friendship with God.

  304. God wanted you to do that thing. He wanted you to write that

  305. letter of encouragement to this person. He wanted you to go and cheer this

  306. person. Now, he wanted you to go and share the gospel with this

  307. person. He wanted you to tell someone about Christ. And you didn't do

  308. it, and you actually owed him that. Can you see now you owed

  309. him that. So Jesus is essentially reminding us to get our debt's paid.

  310. That's why he's saying, get our debt's paid. Now we are to do

  311. that every day. We've got basically get our accounts straight with him and then

  312. go to baits straight and write with him all your accountants. You are understand

  313. that you want to balance it that. Now let's go a little bit deeper,

  314. somemore, and hopefully we get it a bit clearer. Jesus once told

  315. this parable in Luke, chapter seventeen, verses seven to ten. It's about

  316. a servant who was out plowing the field, minding sheep, and then he

  317. came in and who was going to sit down? He was he was just

  318. going to rest after a long day. The servant a long day out in

  319. the field, but his master said stop, you bring me my meal first,

  320. and then a servant had to go and bring the meal. Of course,

  321. a lot of us might have gone like, wah, the pourfler you

  322. quite unreasonable, right the demand the flour worked all day. No, now

  323. you're asking to go and make your meal as well. But note that Jesus

  324. went on to say this, no, do you think that servants should be

  325. thank for doing that extra thing for his master? And then, of course

  326. the response is no, because when he has done all that he has commanded,

  327. he has only done his duty. In the same way, when you

  328. obey Jesus, you should say, we are unprofitable servants who have simply done

  329. our duty. I don't know highlight this word unprofitable, because when we have

  330. done our best for God, and when we get to the end of the

  331. day in debt to God for what we haven't done, we are still unprofitable.

  332. Basically, we can never outgive God, that's the reality of it.

  333. And He has still done more for earth than he ever got back from us,

  334. makes sense, and therefore we are still in that fallen shot, and

  335. this is why we need to pray to God for forgiveness, forgive us.

  336. We need God's forgiveness in our lives. Our conduct towards God is one that

  337. is constantly seeking his pardon, constantly seeking his mercy and his grace because ultimately,

  338. or what we really deserve is his judgment. Ultimately we will never be

  339. able to match up we did. And so that's why we come to a

  340. Lord forgive us. Therefore, if when we do this, we seek the

  341. Lord's forgiveness, it actually puts us in right fellowship with the Lord, because

  342. when he washes your feet, he will ultimately rule your conduct. Does that

  343. make sense. Let's move on, and here comes to condition as we forgive

  344. our debtors. This subsequent phrase in the Lord's Prayer has caused a lot of

  345. difficulty for a lot of people because it is probably the most difficult thing to

  346. do. That's the reality of it. Most of us understand that the Gospel

  347. of Christ is free forgiveness, free grace, no conditions, no bargains,

  348. no contracts. Doesn't God say that if you repent and believe, you are

  349. forgiven? And we are here in the Lord's Prayer being told to do something

  350. for someone else before God will forgive us. Feels like I have to work

  351. for my salvation like that. Right? Isn't this God going right against the

  352. principle of free grace and saying I won't forgive you your sins until you have

  353. been out and done something for someone else. Is it not putting a condition

  354. of forgiveness? Firstly, and firstly this we must always be reminded that the

  355. Lord's prayer is not a prayer for the unbeliever or the prebeliever. It was

  356. never meant to be. It was a prayer for Christians because he was teaching

  357. his disciples. For the believer, a daily prayer to follow Christ makes sense.

  358. So what then, does that mean? Doesn't mean that God has laid

  359. down a kind of law that unless you pass forgiveness on he won't forgive us.

  360. Well, I don't think it is that God can forgive us, because

  361. sometimes we always think we don't forgive, that he can't forgive us. I

  362. think it's a case of he won't. Again, It's not that he can't

  363. forgive us when we don't meet the conditions. He won't. The real reason

  364. why he doesn't forgive those Christians who don't forgive others is very simple. He

  365. doesn't feel like it. You're like, wow, it is the feelings of

  366. God that matter. You think God has no feelings. Let let's study the

  367. parable Jesus shared with Peter. Because Peter asked him how many times should I

  368. forgive a person? Right? And then I believe he says seventy times seven.

  369. And then then he he spoke about a parable about a generous king who

  370. pity this slave and forgive this slave of I think millions of dollars worth of

  371. that. But then he heard that the same slave went out, and then

  372. he drew a fellow, someone below him, someone who owed him money,

  373. into jail because the person couldn't pay up a smaller sum. Remember that the

  374. parable. And then the king was angry and he said, I take back

  375. my forgiveness. The words of Jesus actually teach us how God feels about your

  376. unforgiveness. You see, God is my father, so I sort of think

  377. I understand him because I'm also a father. No, if your child comes

  378. to you and say that, can I have a sweet? Your children are

  379. too, you know, maybe two of them. We got two boys,

  380. of two boys, come, can I have a sweet, and then you

  381. give them a sweet each, and then after that you found out that one

  382. of them stole the sweet from their brother added and then came back to you

  383. and ask you for another suit, And you'll probably you'll probably not give the

  384. child another suit, right because you'll be upset with the child. That's the

  385. reality of it. Why would you be angry because one of the children did

  386. this, Well, that's a simple reason, because you don't want your child

  387. to grow up like that. And if you were to go on indulging a

  388. child who is not behaving rightly, the child will eventually grow up just taking

  389. things as and when he or she thinks she can. So God wants us

  390. to grow up to be more like him. He wants us to be forgiving

  391. as he is forgiving. Does that make sense? If He were to forgive

  392. you each day your deaths and you were not forgiving others, he would actually

  393. be encouraging you to go on behaving like that. And I don't think that's

  394. the kind of father God is. Amen, he would be upset with you.

  395. And if you are not prepared to forgive others their debts to you,

  396. then he is not going to forgive you. He would be angry. It's

  397. a choice. Now. I can totally understand that because it makes sense in

  398. this context. God is just telling us how he feels about us, and

  399. he's talking about his children believers Christians, that is us. Do you expect

  400. him to go on wipe No, to go on wiping out your debts if

  401. you don't wipe out other people's debts. If he were to go on doing

  402. that, he would be doing you hum and he would be destroying your character.

  403. And he is not that kind of father. Jesus stated what his feelings

  404. are, and I can see his reasons for it. Basically, an unforgiving

  405. person does not know what he is asking for when he says forgive right,

  406. and unforgiving person will not appreciate forgiveness if he ever gets it, and unforgo

  407. giving person will be made more unforgiving if he is forgiven under those circumstances.

  408. I mean, let's just put it logically. God's real for us is to

  409. grow up to be more like him. Forgive seventy times seven times. In

  410. other words, be like your heavenly father, and God will not forgive your

  411. depths at the end of each day if you are not learning to be like

  412. him. Otherwise it would not be good fathering, it would be bad discipline.

  413. And how many of y'all know that God disciples us because we are called

  414. His disciples. If we carry on in life with a conduct that never forgives,

  415. then my only hope is that you never sin. Does that make sense?

  416. I know, I know it's hard. I I live with unforgiveness a

  417. lot. It's most of us, do, all of us, because I'm

  418. sure there is someone in your life that has wronged you, or at least

  419. you perceive that person to have wronged you. So a lot of us live

  420. with unforgot But this is ultimately what the scripture tells us. If we really

  421. cannot forgive her, then you better really not sin, because that is what

  422. this petition in the Lord's Prayer is about. Forgive me or forgive us our

  423. death, as we forgive those who we have wrong or have wronged us.

  424. To sum this all our into wards is justice. No forgiving forgiven. When

  425. we forgive, we are forgiven. And this is the law of Christians.

  426. And this is not a hate matter. A lot of times, I know,

  427. when I started talking about it, it's like, oh, we're trying

  428. to trying to work it out in a but ultimately is actually a hard matter.

  429. And therefore, because it's a hard matter, it's a hard matter.

  430. It's hard. I know it's hard. It's easy enough to say, give

  431. us this day our dailibrate, because there's no conditions attached to that. But

  432. God will give earth dead for the asking. But here God says, I

  433. can't give you this just because you ask, not unless you first forgive.

  434. That's the condition. And therefore, if we are praying this prayer while holding

  435. on to grudges, while being bitter, while resenting people, while being jealous,

  436. then we are literally asking God not to forgive my deaths. I know

  437. our hearts cry will still always be God. This is such a difficult thing

  438. to do. Forgiving others seems almost impossible, especially when we conclude that we

  439. have been wrong and we deserve to hold a grudge against someone else. But

  440. remember this always, I want to put it into perspective. Remember this,

  441. He forgave us on the cross. You remember this. I wonder if we

  442. ever realize how difficult it is for God to forgive us with us. If

  443. I can't forgive my neighbor, it's usually my pride, it's myself, my

  444. reputation, my rights. I got to crucify myself, nor to forgive others.

  445. No. But with God, it's not pride. You can't just say,

  446. oh, I'm proud. I don't forgive people. No. Why is

  447. it difficult for God? Then I'll tell you why it's difficult. It's because

  448. of his purity, It's because of his holiness, it's because of his goodness.

  449. He just cannot bear sin at all. He hates sin. And how

  450. does he get around this difficulty of my debts. He gets around it by

  451. paying it for us. For me, that's the only thing that makes it

  452. possible for God to forgive my debts. You see, the word forgive in

  453. the Hebrew language means two things. It means to remit a debt. Remit

  454. just means to cancel, and it also means to pay it, to pay

  455. for it. It's the same word for both to cancel or to pay.

  456. In the Middle East, if you're in debt, usually what happens. Say,

  457. imagine the marketplace. You're in debt, You your dad's are actually written

  458. out on a sheet of paper, and they're pin in the say the shopla

  459. okay for everyone to see. I guess there's an added incentive for you to

  460. go pay la blah, because everyone knows that one shucks. I aw the

  461. shop some money. But if a man is actually willing to pay the debt

  462. and remed it for you, cancel it for you, he will come along.

  463. He'll fold it and put a nail, fold a paper and put a

  464. nail on it, and write his own name across that sheet of paper,

  465. and then your dad is done. That's what Collisions chapter two fourteen means when

  466. Paul actually says that God has in Christ thicken the born of deaths, which

  467. was written against us and nailed it to the cross. He has finished it

  468. and written across it is the name Jesus. Don't ever forget that because it's

  469. not easy. Sometimes we think are so easy for God to forgive us,

  470. really forgive us our deaths. It is so difficult for God to forgive us,

  471. as it is for us to forgive art Us. But the difficulties were

  472. actually resolved on the cross. Every act of forgiveness is actually written in the

  473. blood of Jesus. So finally, is there anything like the joy of forgiveness

  474. of knowing that it's over and done with his Yes? You know, sometimes

  475. I've met people who finally let it go and there's some freedom because you know

  476. that the person who has forgiven you will never mention it again. You know,

  477. when Jesus says I forgive you, he's not going to bring it up.

  478. No, it's like I remember what you did last summer. He's not.

  479. You know he's going to you know what Jesus is going to tell the

  480. father who he's sitting next to. Father, I don't know what you're talking

  481. about. What's scene are you talking about? Because it's all Neil here.

  482. You will never be mentioned again because you know that he loves you. You

  483. know that he will give He will give you the fatted cuff. You know

  484. that he will put the ring on your finger. You know that he'll put

  485. the shoes on your feet. You know that he's going to rope you and

  486. bring you back home. Dad is forgiveness. Forgive us our Dad's Lord,

  487. all that we owe to you every day. We hope you've been blessed by

  488. this message. For more information on our church, please visit X Church the
