Luke 1 | Elder Wong Kien Yiak

You're listening to a message to go from acts church. We hope this message

will light up your day. I'm going to speak from Luke chapter one,

verse twenty six. Chapter one, verse twenty six. I'm going to break

my preaching this morning to three parts. Hopefully I can get to all three

parts, but we shall see. I'm doing sort of readout notes this moment,

but we shall see how the Lord will leave. All right, now

look chapter verse twenty six. Now six months, the angel Gabriel was sent

by God to a city of Galic named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to

a man whose name was Joseph. And who's the household of David the Wligi's

name was Mary? All right, So you and I know the story of

Jesus, the birth of Jesus, the western that the God chose was a

true person called Mary. And verse eight, and having come in, the

Angel say to her, rejoice, Haley, favorite one, the Lord is

with you. Blessed are you among women this morning? As I was prepared

for this, right, it's good for us just to remember the Mary.

Mary wasn't one of those high priestess, right, so you could imagine Mary

or just could be a believer of a firm believer, but really just trying

to get you the day, try to get you the months that her life,

just minding her own business, lave really and the injury of the Lord

remembers rather God remembers her got zero out. And God wants to remind us

this morning, rejoice hali fav one, the Lord is with you. As

she began to wind down this whole year, I mean, it's been crazy,

isn't it. It's been crazy, really, you know, like say

if you have the good, the bad and in between, but oh,

I can just say it has been crazy. And the Lord this morning wants

to remind us that he is with us. Very important for you and for

me to understand this because in the time when Mary was given a head,

the encounter with the Anger, she was afraid. She was afraid. And

a lot of times when we see angiers, we always see this nice picture

that we visualize, we try to visualize, and even the TV producers try

to visualize how agent would look like. But every encounter in the Bible she

could see right from even from Joshua. We think with anger right, there

was a sense of fear. There was a sense of like, you know,

like overwhelmed, the sense of like I am going to be dad,

the kind of thing. And the Bible here says that Mary had a fear

in her life and had this place in the life whereby she there was a

genuine fear, and the Lord reminds her rejoice how they feel while the law

is with you and you and I this year, like Mary needs to remember,

the low is with us, the laws with us, through the ups

and the downs, the laws with us. That's why the Bible says in

some train tree the loss your shepherd, I shall not be in one.

I will lead you to grim pastures, and I will set up a table

before you in front of your enemies, though you walk through the value of

the shadow of death. I will be with you. You and I need

to pause right now with our pursuit of you know, targets, just for

a moment and really think that who is with us in this journey? The

journey in life, friends, is really nothing unless you know who's review friends.

You're not going for a solo camp solo travel, while of those who

see a social media one, but really the journey of life is not meant

to go solo you need to have a few friends. Above everything, you

need to have a relationship with the Lord. And sometimes in our life you

think that we're all alone. Isn't it true, especially when we go to

a situation whereby no one else understands or no one else going to it,

and only you and the losses his review. I want us to take comfort

in this statement because many times we pursue so many other things in life.

Right. For example, the Lord, they say your bank comes review.

How many of you know the bank cup that's providably of security, but not

all security? Right? The Bible doesn't say the Instagram's review that a thousand

likes you get on like a million likes you get right translate to money,

mandatory terms and stuff like. The Bible did not say that because that doesn't

truly satisfy us. So the Lord this money wants to remind us he's with

us through the ups and the downs, the victories and the not so the

failures as well. And this is what Mary said orsety nine. But when

she saw him, she was troubled at saying she was troubled. Could you

imagine right now the Lord say to you, right, blessed, rejoice,

how they fail one of the lass with you. And here is Mary receiving

the revelation, receiving that word, saying that I'm troubled. It's almost like,

uh, when you get possible calls your a one day we catch up.

Is this that it could be? It could be. I can guarantee

word from the Lord. There must be a catch and most have you approach

a Christianity the same way as well, meaning that when you come to church,

when you when you get more in love with the Lord, there is

always going to be that Oh yeah, they want me to serve me,

to give more than one more of me, just more of me, And

I got no I got know me anymore. I just I'm empty right now,

I'm so dry. Right, And we always approach relationship with this cautious

And that's why we want to encourage you, really just to know God a

bit better this coming year, because without knowing the Lord, without understanding him,

without knowing him better, it's very hard for us to interpret what he

has for us. It's very hard for us to understand. Right. Some

people look at Joseph's life and say that you must be a sinner because you're

in prison. Right, You've been framed for something you didn't do. You

must have bad you must have crossed a path of a black cat or something

like that. We'll broke a glass or something. Right, you must have

done something bad. That's what you're experiencing all this, right, but to

actually fully understand our journey in life, really is the only one who knows

is the Lord. So this is what you have lost it. Do not

be afraid, married, for you have found favored with God. Do not

be afraid. As your approach is coming here. I really sense that you

know that really that you know, we shouldn't be afraid. I'm not afraid,

but it's true. There are doubts, there are thoughts, There are

different things that's going to our minds and our hearts, and you know,

things people say, things we don't say, things people implied. A lot

of things going to our hearts, and a genuine, I must say that

erectional fear. There's a genuine fear of what's really, really, really really

going to our hearts. And God, this money wants to minister to you,

they say, do not be afraid. You know when when josh chapter

one, when Moses passed away called God called him to be a lot.

God told joshua'll be bold and courageous. I always wonder why it will be

bore and courageous. You must understand why when lost said be boring courageous,

because it is really really a sense of genuine fear to take the first step.

The first step, the first step if you have never jump off from

a high, the very first jump is always quite scary. If you have

courageous to follow, to occupy the lead, be boring, just to follow

not be afraid, for you have found favor with God. Sometimes we think

that we need to earn God's favor we need, which means to say that

you need to give your ten percent, you need come the church, your

churches. Then this matters, right your prayer, than this matters to earn

the favor of the Lord. And many times we reflect favor of God to

what whether we have done right or done didn't do anything right. We reflect

how we are with the Lord, thinking that it is my base on my

words, the hardest thing for every believer is this is to be able to

rise up after we fall. The hardest thing for every believer is to believe

God's forgiveness to rise up. God and messed up. And this morning the

Lord wants a meanings to some of us here today that we think that we're

messed up, saying that we think that we couldn't do it. Lord saying

to you that you have found favor. And this is what does marries as

Simon, brace and behold, shall conceive in your womb, bring forth a

son is you shall carry his name Jesus. You shall call him Jesus right

word, saying too, he will be great because the son of the most

High, the Lord God will give him. And on the Trony's father David

life. How can this be all that you have promised me? How can

you look back on our own life, we will look back reflect by on

where we are right now. There is this disparity, there is this golf

that you know, there was this chasm measure. Okay, I know I'm

supposed to be there, but I'm here right now. For me to get

there, I need a certain boosts. Can I say that a certain thing

that I need to get there? But that's why Mary say, how can

this be exis? I do not know a man. I know God,

this is your plan, but let's boil out to me. How can this

be exist? I don't know a man. And many times our journey we

always ask a lot how the Lord how? And it's a very genuine question

that every believer was something that asks, Lord, I know you have promises

for me, but how? And the Lord sometimes just reminds us again,

friends again, and number one is going to be this. It will take

time, just like the baby in the womb will take time that you and

I today. When God gives you a word, it doesn't translate immediately into

fruition, which you mean to say that the Lord say that he'll bless you

doesn't mean that tomorrow your tree is your bare food immediately. It doesn't mean

that your tree will have mango's immediately. Friends, it takes time. I

was talking to one of a full time colleague of mind and she just got

an apartment and just sharing me that elder. You know, she was just

showing the group when we had that house dedication that you know, I always

wanted to get a place to stay on my own ren just really, but

you know, being full time ministry and this stuff like that, right,

financial challenges and stuff like that, but they did not stop me from believing

God for it. So as you were talking, you know, this was

after she uh did house education. We were just exchanging notes that wasting her

you know, I say, it's it's quite interesting everybody's journey, isn't it.

It's not a year one, you believe it's not year two? You

believe it's it's the eighth year after she came in full time ministry. She

meant she get a place on her own time time time? How can this

be? Lord? Since I do not know? Man, Friends, would

you allow God time and space to work in your hearts? Because many times

you pray and you go say it doesn't happen. I give my time every

every month. Right, the Bible says open the God, open the windows

of heaven and poblastic you are waiting out there with the bucket there, but

no we know no powering be coming in, No powering be coming in.

Sorry, right up? And sometimes I'm fine. I don't know what.

This is my third time preaching, right, and I seem to lose my

voice quite easily these days. Maybe Lod doesn't want me to preach. Yeah,

must allow God time to work things in your heart. When when I say

the word time friends, also on the work things in our hearts? Could

Right? How does that make your worldview of God is? And how

does that change the way you live? Would pride come in number one?

Would ego come in number two? Number three? Is that? Is there

something deeper that God wants to work in our hearts? Because God doesn't want

us to be visitors in the promised Land. He asks us to occupy the

promise land, not to have a social visit past. After fifteen days you

exit, and many Christians just exit after fifteen days. The Bible says in

Joshua, the Book of Josha, if you just really finished about Joshua,

God said, I'll give you the Promised Land, you should occupy it.

Right, But a lot of times, you know what happens. People just

live for Jericho. Jericho is a huge fortified city, right, and you

know something big in our life. Right, we will pray, we will

seek the Lord were fast, we will ship. Oh, this will be

very high because we are going to a problem. Very not true. But

the moment when Jericho fell, the next city was ai much smaller. In

fact, the army was. In fact, the army was so small that

one of the genus, so Joshaw this is that you don't have to bring

the whole entire army. Just give us a few and we can easily stop

out out in everything for you. All right. But the problem is is

that it's not whether or not the enemy is lush or small. The hearts

are waves in our lives, you know, different challenges that we need to

write. Trip with the Lord right time. Secondly, God was to work

in our hearts right and worse worse they five. Then the Angel answered,

the Holy Spirit will come upon you. How can this be since I do

not know a man? Number one, allow God time. Number two,

Allow the Holy Spirit to reveal more of God to you. The Bible says

the Holy Spirit is a helper. The Bible do not say the Holy spirits

of domestic helper. Right, the Bible says the Holy Spirit is a helper,

he will guide us. First we talk about helper. The first take

about our mind is domestic helper and just different things that like we are the

master that's a slave, no friends, help her to guide and to lead

us, to reveal more of God to us. Very important in our journey

of our Christian faith. That's why sometimes when we read the Bible, we

fin drive because we don't understand it's information rather than revelation. Right, none

of us get inspired by our physics textbook unless you're you. You really love

it, right, praise a lot, hallelujah, the love bless you.

None of us get inspired by economic textbook. I mean, yeah, you

memorize it right now, I wis memorize it Textbord. I don't even remember

at metz yees. I can't remember all the formulas if. I don't even

know how to use a calculator anymore. But back in those days when you're

using it, men, you know how to use a calculator function. Right,

But here's the thing that a lot of times you just want information.

Lord, tell me, tell me, tell me what to do. But

gose I want to review because in the revelation you can build relationship. In

that revelation you can build relationship with the Lord. The Holy Spirit shall come

upon you. Many times now, journey, friends, we think we are

alone. But the Bible says, the Holy Spirit helper right. And when

Jesus left, he said, the promise is the Holy Spirit, and God

this morning wants to encouragees. I think, turn me me right now,

the John up to sixteen John ch of the sixteen verse five, or maybe

verse seven. Nevertheless, I tell you the truth. It is for your

advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the

Helper will not come to you. Friends. The Holy Spirit number one is

to our advantage, so the Bible says, and look chapter one, the

of the law. Because many times our journey we think we know what the

Christian is, but actually we do. We think we know how to pray,

can read, but not for a full understanding. That's why it's very important

for you and I to really the word is to know how the Holy Spirit

moves. I'm not sure how many of your listen, but no. In

word is is this is that how a simple faith understanding how the Holy Spirit

but do not know the language. It's you know how difficult it is

passive matter. God told him to start the church, or rather to lead

understand. Sometimes Holy Spirit leads for you know, not sometimes he leads,

so he just he speaks. I remember one time when my mom was still

alive and that she was in the middle of the hospital and I have to

go and visit her. I say, Charlam. Then she was in clang.

It was level eleven to t at night, those late night run to

the hospital, and I was just like, okay, John, I know

eleven something. Just driving out, Okay, let's let's try to bring the

as you can get there because you live one in the hospital one. So

anyway, I was just driving and I just got this prompting one day,

Uh, my drive there it was. It was yeah, it was late

at night. Just zooka on the road also because highway just felt who I

just felt prompting, and just keep the middle lane right, not the fastest,

just keep the middle lane. And sure enough, three minutes later or

five minutes later, right there was a stock car without any lights on the

fast lane. The Holy Spirit does guide friends, he does, and sometimes

we try a very hard. The word is that, like how many answered,

my solution can only be found in men. My solution, my answer

can only be found in men. And God also encouragees this morning really that

he is our guide to the pain, to the suffering. He's still our

guide to the uncertainty. He's still your guide should the unknown. He's still

your guide. That many times in our lives we try so hard without the

words, that without understanding of interpretation of things that's happening around the world.

In our office, he is still your guide, and the Holy Spirit is

especially turning things around. Not one life, one person who messed up.

The word is that there's too hard for the Holy Spirit to help. So

words that said that he will be your guide in the all truth. He

will not speak on authority, but whatever where he hears you speak. Amen,

he will lead you to things to come. Was forty. He will

glorify me, for he will think what might declare it to you? Friends?

As I close point number one, how it should the Holy Spirit when

we go through live friends, journey, Remember we have the Holy Spirit.

It's not just a saying. But no, the reality is this that many

times in our journey we just do not know what to do. We just

do not know what to do. It's not I'm talking about When I'm talking

about life choices, I'm not talking about where to eat for lunch after church.

Right, it's also a big It's like almost like buying a house.

I will say, right, we get stuck at the downstairs loby there for

But there are days that there are things in our life you and I

need to decide. They're so key and superintendent that only the Holy Spirit help

we can move on, because without inference it is very hard. It is

very hard for us to move on. It's rare help for us to understand.

We try so hard without all understanding's very hard. How can this be?

Since I do not know a man, it's not true. The works

of man really is by the grace of God true the help of the Holy

Spirit. I can share many other stories with you, all with the different

things I've been through and this stuff like that. But one of the things

I just want to share with you is this that many times we think the

Holy Spirit just work in the boundaries of the church, but no, in

your personal life. He is very interested in your personal journey of life.

He is, he is, he is very interested in you because our de

life reflects the Lord, reflect the goodness of God. And we go to

life without asking the Holy Spirit. They're just going through with our own strength.

We're trying very hard just to get to the day. So no problems,

no, no, nothing will ever come ourway. But first it's not

how to live our life. No life got challenges, but to overcome the

change we need help. So one of the things that I have to deal

with is you know, with I mean us is the renewal of our least

for our church properties. Right, I'm not talking about Induvid just so owners.

These are people with Titus and this stuff that it's now easy. Have

control the senses. It's not like you're in control of the censors that I

God with us, the business of life can cause us to miss out what

the Lord has. Every inn was from, every place that was meant for

accommodation was filled. And Christmas really is a time for you and I to

speak to them as well as my wife. The wife say, please find

something for my husband to do. If not every day he irritates me,

my freedom. Please find something else to do. And sometimes of life

not. Your identity comes from love. So in the midst of your business,
