You're listening to a message to go from acts church. We hope this message
-
will light up your tea this week. Many many churches, like the Anglican
-
Churches, the Catholic Church, this week is called the Holy Week. Okay,
-
all for us who are born again, who are in the evangelical We
-
tend to forget a lot of these traditions, which is said because it helps
-
you to remember twenty one days you turn, helps us to remember Jesus and
-
what is done for us at the Cross. That's why we take time out
-
for twenty one days to really pray and draw near to God. More than
-
just asking for things to have to from the Lord. But just why we
-
have it at this season in time is to really come near to Jesus and
-
He will come near to us. And so church journey with a journey with
-
me, as I just share with you the first time actually preaching this message.
-
So I hope I remember everything. There's so much to glean from the
-
Gospels and also from the book of Exodus, but we have so little time.
-
However, I do want to bring us to a journey of reminder so
-
that we can give thanks. You know what God has given us. So
-
this is the Holy Week. And as Jesus came into Jerusalem. All right,
-
so we call it the Holy week, and we've got names for it.
-
We've got today Palm Sunday. Today, more than two thousand years ago,
-
Jesus came riding on a lowly donkey into Jerusalem. And as he came
-
in, the people were, you know, waving palm leaves and saying,
-
you know, saying to the Lord. They took branches of palm trees and
-
they went out to meet him, and they cried out, Hosanna, Hosanna,
-
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, the King
-
of Israel. All right, So that's why it's called Palm Sunday. So
-
now Jesus didn't just decide, oh, okay, this week is this week
-
is Holy Week. He was already preparing from the day he was born.
-
And as he walked on and there were you know, thirty three years,
-
thirty years when thirty years old he went out to do ministry. In three
-
years he turned. Eh, well he turned you know, the world sort
-
of right side up or is it upside down? Okay? Our defends which
-
you want to see it? Okay, which more ready color. So you
-
know, he had already known, if you read the gospels, if you
-
take time, if you're following any devotions, he knew, and he prophesied,
-
and he told his disciples three times, I am going to the cross,
-
I will die, and I will rise again on the third day.
-
They didn't know what he was talking about. Remember, the place called Jerusalem
-
or Israel at that time was under the dominion or the rule of the which
-
government, the Romans. They were under Roman rule, and they really didn't
-
like it. And because they used to have milangan. You know, they
-
were like our own kingdom. They were the victorious years and all had died
-
and gone, and they were they all dispora, a lot of Jews who
-
left too many many other countries after the last king back then, okay if
-
you read it in first king, second kings and uh, and so they
-
were left all, you know, scattered because Babylon had conquered the land.
-
So there were the Babylonians and then later the Greeks Alexander the Great, and
-
then now with the Roman rule. They were waiting for their deliverance. They
-
were waiting for a king to deliver them. And what they desired was to
-
say is Jesus going to deliver us? And so many people and even though
-
they had the word okay the Torah, they had all the Old Testament prophets,
-
but they never saw that means they had years, but they never heard.
-
And so they were waiting for a king to deliver them. And so
-
many perhaps followed Jesus, Yes, this is the one who will deliver us
-
and give us the Kingdom of God and uh. And then then he starts
-
talking about I'm gonna die. You know, I'm gonna die. I'm going
-
gonna die. I'm gonna be dieing. Now rise again on the third day.
-
What is this rising again? Nobody's seen this before? And then you
-
know, so that's why they you know, they they they although his name
-
is Jesus, amen, they know that interpretation of that name and and and
-
Christ Messiah, Jesus the one who saves, Yet they couldn't identify their hearts
-
well hardened. And so maybe that's why Judas, after he's listening to this
-
for the like what following this joker, and then he's telling me he's gonna
-
die. That's it. I'm gonna just tell him off, betray him thirty
-
thirty silver coins that's what that's what's what Jesus was worth to him. He
-
only took thirty pieces of silver, and he sold Jesus out, maybe thinking
-
this is not this is not happening. He's not going to deliver us.
-
So that's the background. CHURCHI gota. If you haven't been learning and study,
-
you gotta begin to read and study so that you appreciate the Bible and
-
the context of which Jesus was walking in and why and how radical he was.
-
He's even more radical than us. I can't. I can't. I
-
don't know, I really, I think if I were living in that tire,
-
I'm like, whoa If you thought Pason Canna's was radical in the way
-
he does funny things? Right, yeah, I know, So how are
-
you and anything? Why is he doing this? Jesus was one hundred times
-
more radical. Nobody understood. The Pharisees, the Elders, the Sadducees,
-
they couldn't understand what he was saying, what he was doing. They just
-
had to kill him. They had to plant plan plot and get rid of
-
Jesus because he was rocking the boat of their time. And so when we
-
come this week, as we ourselves are preparing for Friday and for Resurrection Sunday
-
or what we know better as Easter. Remembering helps us to appreciate what Christ
-
has gone through for us. And sometimes we take it flippantly, Yeah it's
-
good Friday. Yeah yeah, oh yes, you turned sometime were Our life
-
is so busy, and that's why it's good to take time for the twenty
-
one days to read again. I read for the last how many years I've
-
been reading over and over and over again every year at least one time the
-
Gospels with regards to Jesus going to the cross, and it helps me remember
-
the price that Jesus paid, And like the song says, I'll never know
-
how much it costs him. I will never know. I will never carry
-
the pain. I can feel it, but I will never ever know how
-
much you will never know his emotions, his calling. And today that's what
-
I want to bring us through. So we have this Holy Week. So
-
if you go through the screen and you got to kind of like like piece
-
together through the four Gospels, a lot of it is in Matthew, Mark,
-
Luke, and then John, and you've got to kind of like sew
-
it all together, stitch it together. It's hard because you have to read
-
everything first and then start putting things into order. So there's the Palm Sunday,
-
which we actually get a record of that. And in John two of
-
thirteen, in Matthew and Mark, and you know, he comes in.
-
Everybody's cheering him. Ooo, this is the King of Israel's now mine.
-
He's going to deliver us or we will watchp him Azana alazana blessed is he
-
comes in the name of the Lord. That's on Palm Sunday. What happens
-
on Friday, Crucify him, crucify him, crucify him. So I tell
-
you what, if Jesus went through that, don't think you and I won't
-
go through it. Today you might say I'm the best pastor five days time
-
you say lousy buster leaving your church. All right, So if Jesus went
-
through it, I cannot think that I won't go through it. And I
-
have been through it. People will come to pass you on the best right
-
now, like chank you, But no, chank you. All right.
-
I don't need to be told on the best past because I know you're gonna
-
stab me, all right. So Jesus had the cheers, and then on
-
Friday, crucify him for the because the whole week six days before the passover,
-
which was on Thursday, Passover Thursday night to Friday, the Good Friday,
-
he was at his best friend's home, Martha, Mary and the risen
-
Lazarus. What was Jesus doing, I ever thought, what was he doing
-
before the week? The Holy week? Well, six days before the passover,
-
he was probably for the last time, sort of meet his friends,
-
the other three young adults who were single. Don't forget any single people in
-
the house power, all right, yeah, yeah, don't despise your singlehood.
-
So he went a visit the three single people his friends said. He
-
loved, he loved less Mary and Martha, and he ate with them,
-
and he maca macan and they had you know who knows sent Peter's fish and
-
all that, you know, and they were having their food in Bethany,
-
and then, you know, having all the emotions. You must remember he
-
was all men, although he was all God, but he never called on
-
his kingship in a heavenly power. He walked as a man, so that
-
he will understand your pain and my pain, your shame, my you know
-
my shame. He will know our our our traumas, our fears, our
-
trials. He went through it how we feel. And so that's Jesus.
-
And along the way he was healing the blind, the two blind men calling
-
out to him. Jesus healers, and and is he going along? He's
-
healing the woman that was bent over. He's still healing. And these are
-
the same people who said Hosanna, Hosanna, and then on Friday crucify him.
-
So it had to happen, but he knew it and it was so
-
painful. He's like, hey day, you're ready, right because you know
-
what happened at the Garden of Cadzemani. So you've got Palm Sunday, Holy
-
Monday, Holy Tuesday, Holy Wednesday, Monday, Thursday. What is Monday,
-
Well, the word Monday means washing of feet, and that's where Jesus
-
washed the feet of his disciples on that Passover meal that he had. And
-
on Friday they judged him, and then they call it Holy Saturday because that's
-
when they rolled the stone and put gods there, and then resurrection Sunday.
-
So I'm only going to bring you through to Monday Thursday because I'll see you
-
on Good Friday. Amen. So on Palm Sunday, On Palm Sunday,
-
they raised the palms and they put palms, and some Catholic homes you'll see
-
the palm leaves and all that. So it just reflects reflected from the scripture.
-
People were waving and people are looking forward to see this king that came
-
into Jerusalem, all right, and here they are praising and blessing the Lord.
-
And then it goes on the whole week. Now, if you read
-
scripture, it doesn't tell you Holy Monday. It doesn't. But by just
-
through the research, I said, you study through, you'll figure it out.
-
Why so I take you back quickly, quickly to Exodus. Why did
-
we have the Exodus? God was delivering his people from man Egypt under the
-
slavery of Pharaoh. And because when Moses said, God said let my people
-
go, Pharaoh said, no, nine plagues to warn him. But he
-
said, no, no, you lazy for us. You're gonna work for
-
me, and I make it even worse. No straw for making breaks.
-
I don't know how you're gonna make I don't even know how they made bricks
-
without the straw, but they made breaks. So they made and they did
-
what they did, and nine plagues. I can't go through all the nine
-
plagues. And then the last straw, the last point when Moses said,
-
let my people go, God says, let me say. No, let's
-
it, Pharaoh. You will lose your first spond, Every first spond from
-
the human to the animal will die. Now you can think, are you
-
oh my God so bad? You gotta read the whole picture, not just
-
what I'm saying today, but timey shot. So just telling you the story
-
of when it all happened. So God said, all right, I'll spare
-
my people, but this is what you need to do. You need to
-
take a lamb that is unblemish, no marks on it, pure. Like
-
any other religion, when they sacrifice, they give the best to their gods.
-
They go to Hindu temple, they will bring the best to the Buddhist
-
temple, they bring their best offerings. They will sacrifice their best child,
-
the first born, maybe the clever one, not the one with the chachatnas.
-
No sorry for they word, but they will never give a lame child.
-
They will never give if they were to sacrifice their child to or even
-
to serve in the temple. They will only give the best. If someone
-
who is not even No, they are not knowing God. They know how
-
to give the best. Come on, Church, we should be giving the
-
best to the Lord. And so God asks for the lamb. Every family,
-
one lamb, one lamb. If the family cannot afford it, and
-
share the lamb, they say, and worst cannot. And later on they
-
made other rules. They had different things. But the lamb an unblemish lamb,
-
and the lamb was taken on the tenth day of the month because on
-
the fourth day they would have to sacrifice it. So the children will get
-
to play with a little lamb, an unblemish lamb, and become friends with
-
the lamb. And on the fourth day, bye bye, Oh mommy,
-
you're making stew. I'm now eating butter cup. If they named the lamb
-
but a cup, okay, she said, for a cowlar all right?
-
And now yeah, so wow, you know. But the significance is Jesus
-
came in on the tenth day of the month into Jerusalem. He was the
-
ultimate sinless lamb of God. And in the Store of Exodus they would have
-
to clean out the house of all eleven. Now they made unleven bread,
-
no yeast bread, because were going to run and disappear from Pharaoh, no
-
time for the bread to rise, so they made unleaven bread flat bread.
-
Nowadays we eat flat bread totia whatever they all call flat bread. No need
-
yeas, why because you need to run. But also at the same time
-
they will clean up even up to today if the if they celebrate the passover,
-
they will clean out their house from all the years and anything. Why
-
because yeas or eleven is like sin. Clean out the sin, clean out
-
the dirt, clean out the years, clear up the whole house. So
-
they have a game for the children to go and pick up crumbs, you
-
know, and do that. And so even for Jesus in the week from
-
from the Monday too. If you read, you'll see that the Pharisees and
-
the law the teachers were interrogating him to find sin in him so that they
-
could accuse him. But they found none nothing, even up to the point
-
when they took him to see Kiaphas high priests and pilot. They tried to
-
bring witnesses. Nothing could stand. The only thing was only two people saying
-
that he said he's going to put down the temple and then you were gone,
-
and then he would raise it up in three days, and they took
-
up that as a case. But there was no sin found in Jesus.
-
Same with how they searched out all the years in the house. They were
-
interrogating to find sin, but there was no sin found in Jesus. Hallelujah.
-
He was the sinless Lamb of God to take our sin. Amazing,
-
isn't it. The picture was done in the Old Testament, a foreshadow for
-
what will happen in the New Testament. Wow. And there's so much,
-
so much more detail. I don't have time, but I just want you
-
to know that Jesus was that lamb, and he came into Jerusalem on the
-
tenth day, and on the fourth day, Thursday, he was going to
-
be sacrificed. He was the very passover lamb. That night he was taken.
-
But you also know what happened at the garden of Gathsemane. That's why
-
he wasn't just one week that he was. He's probably in well. We
-
cause application and prayer and the session already months and days and years ahead.
-
But oh, Jesus knew his calling and he knew his purpose. I want
-
us to reflect. I'm not talking to you like I'm not talking to myself,
-
so I'm also speaking in my own heart to reflect and think. Wow,
-
Jesus knew his calling. He came to the point where he said,
-
Father, if this cup can be removed, do remove it. But if
-
not, let your will be done. Because that cup of suffering, none
-
of us will ever be able to carry it. And that's why he prayed
-
until like blood came out like sweat. That was like blood, like he
-
already anticipated, anticipated the brokenness that he will have to go through. Wow,
-
that happened, you know. Throughout so the whole week until Thursday,
-
there was interrogation. He was teaching his disciples, he was healing people.
-
In the midst of all that work was in his mind, I'm going to
-
the cross. I'm going to the cross. Back out now, Jesus,
-
back out now, No, come on, you can run. You're the
-
son of God. Just back out. Laay alla, No you aren't.
-
You glad that he didn't back out because we couldn't pay the price for the
-
death of our sin, the sin that came because of Adam and Eve.
-
I'll tell you that story on Friday, okay, And so we go through
-
that, and then on Holy Monday, Jesus went into the temple. So
-
he came in writing on the donkey, a very lowly donkey. This is
-
a prophecy from the book of Zachariah, right, and you can read that
-
in book of Zacharia, come in a lowly donkey. So already there was
-
a prophecy. There was a proof, but they couldn't see it. Then
-
on Monday he enters the temple and then he kum fused the old place.
-
Right. He's angry, why he saw, because they're preparing her for the
-
past over your people all coming into Jerusalem. And then he starts flipping tables.
-
Phantoya cantonese. We say, fantoya, like you're showing everybody away.
-
And then the Pharise is like, what are you doing? Why did he
-
cleanse the temple? Like I told you you take away the yeast, take
-
away the sin. Right, he was cleansing the temple, remember the temple.
-
He was the living temple, but he had to clean the representative of
-
that temple of God number one. The cleansing. He was so angry because
-
you know what he said, right, why do you take my house of
-
my father as a den of thieves? Because it is supposed to be the
-
house of prayer for the nations. What does that mean? If you haven't
-
already heard the Temple of Solomon, that was left or whatever was left the
-
outer courts was meant for the gentiles, for the sinner, not for the
-
jew for the nations, for anyone who was not Jew too, because he
-
cannot come into the inner arm to the outer court. Jews are not allowed.
-
So all non Jews. God, you see, God was thinking about
-
us already. We're not Jews, all right, at least at least in
-
the flesh. And he opened the outer court so that the gentile could come
-
and pray and see God's forgiveness. But what did they do? What did
-
they do? They allowed to do business, taking up the space that was
-
meant for the non Jews to come and pray to God. Read your Bible,
-
and it's not just simply Jesus. When to go through the whole place.
-
And why you say the house of prayer for the nations, What it
-
meant was the nations were supposed to come and pray. You read the story
-
between the Pharisee and the publican. The publican came in and beat his chest
-
and say I'm not worthy. I'm a sinner. He was standing at the
-
outer court, whereas a pharisee went in and said, wow, I am
-
holy and I have done all things. The guy was at the outer court.
-
So Jesus cleansed the temple because there was not men to be selling a
-
quay. No, they were selling more lambs and cows and all the stuff
-
there to make it easier for people. But we were meant to bring our
-
sacrifices from our home to search for the lamb that was not blemish, not
-
Judy, okay, not little John. Oh yes it's butter cup. So
-
to take time your worship this morning, the worship team, the member partners,
-
you took time. You chose. I had to choose what I wanted
-
to wear. And when thinking already waking up early, you were praying where
-
you know, thinking we want to dress my kids up in you know,
-
I want to feed my kids. I gonna be here early, not late,
-
because we want to bring a sacrifice of praise today. There's no lambs
-
to bring, but we bring our sacrifice of praise and our worship. We
-
took time and God wanted that worship that is already. So your worship friends,
-
started when you woke up, not when you came in. So their
-
worship would have started one day on the tenth day, looking for that lamb,
-
the unblemish lamb. And they took that way from the people to make
-
it easier, so that they didn't have to pull but the cup whatever I
-
mean, this would be the sacrifice for finally the past over and all that.
-
But the later on there'll be other festivals up when they had to sell
-
the cow and everything. So but they took that away. They took away
-
the space that was ment for you and I to stand on the outer court,
-
because we couldn't go to stand on the outside of the outer court,
-
because we couldn't enter outer court. This is the outer of the outer court.
-
So really this is the corridor. God did think about us, but
-
he wanted it left for us. So on that Holy Monday Matthew twenty one,
-
two half thirteen, he went into the temple. He drove out all
-
those who bought and sold, and overturned the tables of the money changers and
-
the seats of those who sold doves. You reading John, He made a
-
whip out of reeds, and he started, you're not whacking the animals,
-
but chasing the animals out, move, get out of here. And he
-
said, it is written, my house shall be called the house of prayer,
-
but you have made it a den of thieves. They they they they
-
they were like thieves. Lot you read the place love, okay. And
-
in this version it says house of prayer. But he read it in Isaiah,
-
where the prophecy was my house shall be called a house of prayer for
-
the nations. God was thinking about that all may know a long time ago
-
Heaven rules. Amen. That was Monday, and then came Tuesday, Tuesday
-
for a hamburgerl okay, John twelve, twenty three. But so this was
-
another scene in John twelve and the Greeks came to visit Jesus reading John chapter
-
twelve. So the Greeks came and say, hey, we want to see
-
this Jesus love, I want to see this now you and I would think
-
that if I say I'm looking for Joe Edward, I would go, this
-
is Joe Edward, this is doctor Daniel Kong. This is possible. We
-
know who she is. Can you believe it that nobody knew who Jesus was?
-
But if you read Isaiah fifty three. He had nothing that man a
-
woman would desire. He looks so common that they didn't know who each one
-
was Jesus. He looked like your everyday a coal okay or ramasami. I
-
don't know, because they had to say, you have to point us out
-
who is Jesus? And even when he healed them, they would go who
-
healed you? And he said, we don't know, but I heard that
-
his name is Jesus. And so when the Pharisees wanted the soldiers wanted to
-
catch Jesus, Judas had to say, I will sell him out. The
-
one I kiss, he's the one. He had to go to Jesus and
-
betray him with a kiss. Have you been betrayed by a kiss? Don't
-
go there? All the songs you sing is so he didn't look like like
-
the picture draws. You said, they're handsome right in the Bible. No,
-
the word handsome is not dead. He said. His face, it
-
was like someone that we will not desire. There was no desirableness in Jesus
-
that we would desire to follow him. So the fact that they followed Jesus
-
and he looked like just like any other aka Amazami motungula, and I don't
-
know. Okay, it must have been his person, right, the authority
-
that says Edward, follow me, and he will. You would leave all
-
your fishing nets and your sales business, and you follow Jesus. So friends
-
in this in this passage, the Greeks came to say, can you tell
-
us who's Jesus? We want to see Jesus. Philip comes and says,
-
Jesus, somebody wants to see you. Not who's there? Oh, there's
-
a Greek. People want to see you. And then Jesus then answered,
-
look at the way he answers. He doesn't even say hold on, wait
-
or not? He says, the hour has come that the son of man
-
should be glorified. Most so surely, I say to you. Unless a
-
grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone. But
-
if it dies, it produces much grain. He who loves his life will
-
lose it. He who hates his life in this world will keep it for
-
eternal life. If anyone serves me, let him follow me, And where
-
I am there my servant will be. Also if anyone serves me him,
-
my father will honor. Totally different conversation, right, I so read,
-
and Jesus is so rudeler at least say sorry, I cannot meet you.
-
No, he's what is it? It tells me he was just focused,
-
not that I don't want to meet you Greeks. I just need to go
-
to Jerusalem. He talks about the weak dying. His life was going to
-
die for many and it had to die and then resurrect again. Right,
-
and he talks. Then he goes on to talk about before about people serving.
-
If you serve my father, you know, and anyone serves me him,
-
my father will honor if you serve me, let him follow me.
-
Wow. Then he's challenging the fact that you're going to follow me. We
-
have to read and read in between the lines. We need to imagine closing
-
eyes and say, if I were there and this man is saying he's going
-
to die, do I want to follow him. I don't know if we
-
would follow him, friends, I don't know, because we are waiting for
-
the kingdom to be taken over by Jesus. But he's talking about dying,
-
so people would have left, and that's why you just thought this man is
-
local. I'm not going to follow him, right, I want kingdom back
-
then comes John twelve, twenty seven, twenty eight. Already this is him
-
saying, my soul is troubled. What shall I say? Father? Save
-
me from this hour? So in the flesh, Father saved me. But
-
for this purpose. Everybody, purpose, say purpose? Come on, people
-
say purpose. I came to this hour for all these thirty three years,
-
for this purpose. I came to this hour, Father, glorify your name.
-
And the voice from heaven said, I have both glorified it and will
-
glorify it again. The voice from heaven came. Nobody knew where, what
-
what? Like thunder like that I don't know, like earthqait, I don't
-
know. But the Lord affirmed Jesus that you need to carry on, and
-
you are focused. Amen, Because when you read this particular verse called Luke
-
in Luke, chapter nine, verse fifty one, verse fifty three, this
-
is way ahead of time before the Holy Week. Jesus. It says,
-
now it came to pass when the time had come for him to be received
-
up, that he steadfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem. He set
-
his face to go to Jerusalem. He was no turning back. I have
-
decided to follow Jesus, no turning back, no turning back. Can you
-
and I sing this song in the days when it's tough, I don't know.
-
I cannot. I can't say. We need to prepare ourselves. Jesus
-
prepared himself and said, I'm heading to Jerusalem. But Father, my soul
-
is trouble. Would you take this cup for me? So he's steadfastly set
-
his face. From a long time, from months and months, he already
-
wanted to go to Jerusalem. God's timing, Amen comes to Wednesday. Wednesday.
-
I just chose this scripture. There's so many parts on He doesn't say
-
Wednesday, love, so the in the when you do the research, he
-
says Tuesday and Wednesday. So I break it down to Wednesday. And I
-
chose one portion of scripture which says in John thirteen one now before the feast
-
of the Passover, when Jesus knew again look at that, he knew that
-
his hour had come, that he should depart from this world to the Father.
-
Having loved his own who were in the world. He loved them to
-
the end. God loved the people that God gave to him, Father God
-
gave to him. He loved them to the end, including Judas. Remember
-
Judas eight at the Last Supper the passover meal, and Judas was given the
-
place of honor. No time to teach you again. He was sitting not
-
the da Vinci's picture with the long table and everybody seated letter let it,
-
let it no wrong. I don't know why da Vinci did that. It
-
actually was a lyricum, which is a U shaped table with with with two,
-
one, two, three or four, and then the other people say
-
here, so the first person here would be the one wod god from the
-
enemy, and anyone want to kill the Hosa, he will be dead.
-
It should have been Peter, but Peter was very nonsense that day because Jesus
-
gave then Peter supposed I have said it. But then John the Beloved sat
-
here, and then Jesus the host, and then the place of honor was
-
Judas. And Peter was like, what, I would die for you.
-
I would die for you. Have you heard that song Arina grande and we
-
can right, oh, die for you. You have to hear the song.
-
Do you know what you're singing? People? Baby, I will die
-
for you. That's what Peter said. I will die for you. I
-
will not leave you. And then he says Judas he was sulking and sulking
-
and sulking, and he said at the last, and he was supposed to
-
carry the water to wash the feed, he refused on the other side of
-
the u ship. So he was at the end sulking. And Peter liked
-
he was older than Jesus, yet so gave Judas the best place. He
-
loved him to the end. Forgiveness was already shown, so Judas didn't have
-
to hang himself. He could have remembered and repented and go back to the
-
brethren. Didn't happened. So all the emotions, all the but yet knowing
-
this is the hour I have come for this then Monday Thursday, not Monday
-
Thursday, but Monday Thursday. The lamb is getting ready. And as so
-
this is so if they had prepared the passover. Jesus was the host,
-
as I said. He said, and gave Judahs the best place. Beloved
-
John, the youngest of the disciples, was the god sitting at the first.
-
If he died, I I died first thing. And then as Jesus
-
took bread blessed and he broke it, he instituted the act of remembrance of
-
breaking bread, that this is my body that in just an hours a couple
-
hours time is going to be broken for you. Take eat. This is
-
my body to eat. Someone's body is sacredigious thing them is. God never
-
allowed for this, But yet it was an inference. It was to say
-
that this body that you're eating, not Jesus body, but the representation of
-
what Jesus was gonna do. Take eat, because my body's gonna be broken
-
for you. Take this cup, give thanks and the cup. Later in
-
the early days Exodus, there was no cup to drink. There was just
-
a stew, the bitter hebs, the lamb stew, the bitter herbs,
-
the boiled eggs, the baked eggs. But in the New Testament, as
-
Jesus was that time, he never had the bitter herbs. Guess why,
-
I think because he was taking the bitterness for us, the big eggs he
-
was baked for us. So you and I had a bake. He took
-
it for us. But the cup was introduced because the wine always represented joy
-
muh celebration, the cup, and so when they take that cup, it
-
represented the blood of Jesus that would wash us clean, would give us victory
-
and never again to live in sin. Forgiveness. It's so beautiful that there's
-
nobody else who has ever died and given his life for anyone. Jesus,
-
and no one else, no other gods, no other follow whatever has resurrected,
-
whether you believe it or not. I've been to the tomb. There
-
ain't no bones in there. And that cup was the blood celebration of the
-
joy that we will receive in being forgiven of our sin. Amen. And
-
then the next a few scenes happened. He also washed the feet of the
-
disciples down. Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his
-
hands and that he had come from God, was going to God. He
-
came from God. You came from heaven to earth to show the way from
-
the earth to the cross, my dead to pay, from the cross to
-
the grave, from the grave to the sky. Lord, I left your
-
name on Hi. So he knew he came from heaven and he was going
-
back to Heaven. But the process, my friends, is where he said,
-
Father, if this cup could be passed, but if it can't,
-
your will be done. And so he took he laid aside his garments,
-
he took the towel. Jesus took a towel, not a title. He
-
took a towel, So we who lead, we're just taking towels, not
-
leadership, because leadership is over people. Leadership is servanthood. Jesus was a
-
servant king, and he pot water and he washed the disciples feet. He
-
wiped them with the towel, which he had good at himself. This was
-
what Peter was supposed to have done, but he didn't. Jesus therefore demonstrated
-
service, the servant king, the king who served, okay, And and
-
then they all went panicked. Oh no, no, no, please,
-
don't wash me. And Peter's like no, no, no, no,
-
because you guilty. I know I should have done it, but no,
-
it's like no, no, no, no, no, like because He's
-
like no, no, no, no. Watch And Jesus, if I
-
don't watch, then you won't be counted as a clean, cleansed one.
-
So let me wash you, I think Jesus Peters just crying there because he
-
was supposed to be the one who was washing the feet, not the boss
-
of the host, not his master. But the master demonstrated servanthood and he
-
washed the feet. So on Thursday in the past of a meal, all
-
the families were think he was the lamb that would be, that would be
-
sacrificed. Came he introduced communion. What we remember, he came to show
-
us the way of servanthood. He spoke so much with them. He even
-
told them who is going to betray? And nobody believed. Nobody even knew
-
what he was talking about. The one I DipEd, the break, that
-
one, that one and Peter's like Peter's sitting across looking at John go because
-
they used to lean like this Roman Eastern South. They all lean and so
-
lightly. John Jesus was leaning on his breast and John's breast and then said,
-
you ask, I think I'm like a Peters. Yeah, And then
-
there's which one? Which one? Then Jesus said, I did, that's
-
the one that will be Jamie. So I think they all knew. I
-
don't know, just just thinking out loud. And so, friends, the
-
one thing that you and I may catch is the obedience of Christ. We
-
might say he did it for love, he did this is he? However,
-
But one thing that denotes the faith of a Christian is a walk of
-
obedience, not just sacrifice. Not I am sacrificed, because obedience is better
-
than sacrifice. So you can sacrifice, but if you cannot obey what God
-
is saying to us, that's not what God is demanding of our not to
-
demand asking from us. Jesus really was the Lamb of God to be sacrificed
-
for the sins of the world, and he was not blemished. Amen.
-
So really the story in Exodus, what happened the real The reality that happened
-
in Exodus was a foreshadow of what Jesus would come into the world. God
-
had already planned salvation. He tried so many ways, but the people of
-
God refused to do the work that they asked him to. They didn't want
-
to shine for him, they didn't want to, you know, share God
-
with others. And so he had to buy his own hand, raise up
-
a savior. He gave his own life, He gave his son more on
-
Friday. Do you know who's going to preach you London? You might you
-
might decide not to come, gay or come. So the mercy of God
-
was really brought through this shedding of the blood of his only son, which
-
would have happened with the real lamb. The Lamb's blood was wiped on the
-
door posts so that the spirit of death would pass by pass over the homes
-
of every believer of follower you today, the blood of Jesus washes us,
-
forgives us. Amen. And what Jesus did was to close the gap between
-
God and man. There was a gap sin crept into the world. If
-
you've been following our Spotify messages podcasts. Sin crept into the world because Adam
-
and Eve sinned, and that's how sin was introduced to the world and it's
-
been there since uti today. But when you accept Christ, you are forgiven
-
from sin and from the penalty of sin. But sin still remains until Jesus
-
comes again. But the blood of the Lamb washes us. And that's why
-
you and I can constantly come to Jesus because what he sees is not me.
-
Sees the blood Godfather, God the Father sees the blood of Jesus.
-
He doesn't see me. He sees his son, the blood of Jesus.
-
That's why we can come. Jesus closed the gap by becoming the bridge that
-
bridged us to God the Father. Amen. And so my thought for us
-
is obedience was high on the list. And so the question for us,
-
as I close slowly, slowly, do we live with such obedience because we
-
long for a world in desperate need to hear the voice of God. I
-
have to asked myself, do I live with such obedience because I long or
-
my relatives who are in desperate need to hear the voice of God? That's
-
obedience. God has not called us to do it any other thing, but
-
to shine, to be light and salt, and to live separate, separate
-
your life from darkness. You walk in the light, you cannot mix.
-
Obedience is to bring that light and shine for him. Do I live like
-
that? Do we live like that? And you know when Jesus, if
-
you read in the book of John or Mark, he went all the way
-
so that he could do this for us. He said that our joy will
-
be full. I have to go so that your joy may be full.
-
But number two Mark eleven twenty four. Mark eleven twenty four says, therefore,
-
I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe
-
that you receive them, and you will have them. And we calle this
-
verse to say that whatever you ask from the Lord God will do it for
-
you, that you will have it. It's a great promise. He asked
-
Jesus, and ask ask, and Godfather will do it for you, because
-
god Father loves you. But I've never thought about this. This is in
-
preparation of this message. Therefore, if all we prayed for today was given
-
to us everything we ask for, how many people would know Jesus as Savior
-
as a result. Because we aren't asking, so I'm not seeing the number
-
of people at least to hear good, the good news luck. I cannot
-
save anyone, but I can bring the good news, So I'm not We're
-
not. God is not. I don't think the world is thing. Don't
-
pray for what you need. He does know what we need. But if
-
all we prayed for really was daily praying for the salvation of my father,
-
my mother, my sister, my best friend, or whatever, then we
-
would at some point see a result, which again ties into the message that
-
all may know because we're praying for a lot of things. We want a
-
lot of things, and God wants to give you every good thing from heaven.
-
Every good and perfect gift from heaven is from the Lord. But could
-
we remember why we follow Jesus and when we pray, do we include the
-
loss? Because the first thing you can do you and I can do is
-
to pray. But the second thing we would do is to go. So
-
after we pray for the auntie or the uncle or the friend, the next
-
step is the boldness and the courage to invite them, for me to be
-
friends with them because we haven't been in touch with them forever, and to
-
keep building friendships because genuinely, God loves people, just like how he loved
-
me, and I didn't know him until I got to know him. So
-
as we approach Good Friday, and if you haven't had the chance, spend
-
the next few days today's Sunday's looking at these chapters towards the end of most
-
of the Gospels twenty five, twenty six, of Matthew and the and Journey
-
with Jesus. It's a miracle that we see a Friday, and everybody was
-
so sad. But like one black preacher said, two day is a Friday,
-
but Sunday is a coming. Sundays are coming in our lives. We
-
will always have Fridays. We always have Fridays. Which person, you don't
-
have a Friday. It's good Friday, but it was a black Friday.
-
You're not the sale Black Tuesday or Black Friday, right, Okays it felt
-
like this was all for a loss. So we all have a Friday in
-
our lives. But praise Bean to God, there will come a Sunday and
-
that situation for us will resurrect because our Christ resurrected. Amen. So it's
-
not all lost. But it was not at the expectation of the people that
-
was it. They just thought, that's it gone. Jesus died, done,
-
rolled the stones some over, that's it bye. So we want to
-
say to us, remembering Christ and what he'd gone all the way is really
-
an act of obedience. Thank you Jesus. Then how about us, what
-
is it that we need to be obeying God to do that we may please
-
God? The Son please the Father all the time. You read that in
-
the Gospels, the Son pleases the Father. You and I are sons and
-
daughters of the Most High Father God. Are we? Yeah? Are we
-
obedient law? Just to what He has told us to do. So we
-
can do everything and all kinds of things. And I do a lot of
-
things. But if I'm not doing what he called me to do, I
-
have not done what he called us to do, which is to be sold
-
and like to be his feet, to be his hands, to be his
-
voice. And then when you get the glory and hopefully Saint Peter's they're welcoming
-
you, welcome, and Jesus saying welcome, my good and faithful servant.
-
And then he says, thank you for clothing me. And that's when you
-
say, when did I do that? Jesus, I didn't see you.
-
He said, every time you did it for the least of this you did
-
it unto me. The least could be the little children ministry. The least
-
could be your dad, your mom, the least. When that person was
-
in need, you clothed that person. When that person who needed support,
-
you were there, right you went prison ministry. That's how prison ministry started
-
because of this verse that the people who are in prison also have a chance
-
to receive the good News before their lives are You know, some might be
-
but some might be executed. I don't know. But they also deserve.
-
The murderer deserve to hear the gospel at least one time. Will he receive
-
Christ? Well, Saint Paul was a murderer and he had an encounter with
-
God with Jesus. So a murderer turned apostle, would we accept Paul if
-
he was in our midst and we knew he just murdered our parents or our
-
friends. So it's a picture of what we're saying is friends, you hold
-
in your life, in your heart salvation, live it to the full,
-
enjoy the blessed saying, but please don't forget to be a blessing. Be
-
obedient when God calls you to talk to somebody or even just being in the
-
presence of your friends, and just be a light or sault to preserve the
-
condition of the situation right. And then speak when you have to. Otherwise
-
your actions speak brighter and bigger than your words. And I really it's just
-
my own heart also convicted to say that if I really prayed, then how
-
many people would know Jesus as the result of my prayer. Maybe I haven't
-
been praying. The word is not about enough. Its just have I prayed?
-
Did I have a name in my mind? Did I look at my
-
colleague? That's really frustrating me as a person that also God died for.
-
You know, it keeps you thinking if this is what God wants for us,
-
that Heaven rules so that all may know, then we have a part
-
to play. Amen. And the encouragement is Jesus went all the way and
-
be glad for that. A good reflection for us who are believers to know
-
this. And if you are a seeker and you're seeking, I want you
-
to know that God opens the door for all to come. The House of
-
God is a house of prayer for the nations for all to know Christ.
-
He doesn't count our color, our status, who we are, he says,
-
all may know. It's up to us to receive. And if that
-
opportunity has been given, then we have to make a choice. So you
-
either choose Jesus or we don't. Then you'll be an eternity without Jesus.
-
I want to have itternity with Jesus. So I'm grateful for the grace of
-
God that has saved me, and I will want to also share disgrace with
-
other people. So it's really sometimes we've just got to remember, in the
-
midst of our busy lives, who is Jesus asking you to share the good
-
news with Amen. We hope you've been blessed by this message. For more
