You're listening to a message to go from at church.

We hope this message will light up your day.

So the title for today's message is living out your calling, right,

living out your Calling. And we're going to draw today's

message from the Book of First Samuel, chapter seventeen. Right,

this story is if you've been long enough in church, okay,

I'm sure you would have heard this story. I mean

every child, I'm sure in their children ministry would know

this story as well. Okay. And this is the story

about a giant. Anyone can guess what story is this Goliath?

That's right? Okay, this is about David and Goliath. And

we're going to understand how David answered his call, right,

and how did he actually respond in a way that

God created her him. Yeah, I believe all of you,

or if you're not known this yet, each one of

us have a calling in our lives. How many of

you believe that? Right? And when I say calling, well,

it's in different ways, okay. Of course, one main similar

thing we have is to glorify God, to make his

name known. Right, as believers, that's what we do, right.

We share God's love, you know, we serve him.

Right.

But each of us have a calling in a different

capacity based on the different talents that God has given us,

the different gifts, yeah, and the different burdens that God

place us in your life. Yeah. Some are very passionate

about children's ministry and so they work along with kids.

Some are passionate about missions and so they're out there

sometimes in the rural places serving the communities. Okay. And

they are those who are passionate about serving within the

church in different ministries with the young people, right, or

even it could be in the marketplace. Right. So there

are different needs or different burdens that God puts in

our hearts. And we're gonna learned today about how can

we recognize that calling and to not miss out that

calling as well? Okay? And how many of you know

that a calling requires a respond, right? A calling requires

a respond And if God is calling you this morning? Okay?

And if you see your phone ringing, would you be

able to recognize that it is God calling you? Okay?

Think about it. Yeah, if you didn't save the numbers

in your phone. Again, maybe Elaine calls me. I didn't

save a number. I think I will know that is

Elaine because I know how I think there's that game

going on right in TikTok and all that you have

to guess the person's voice, right. Yeah, So we played

that once in my previous company, and we got a

boss to be outside and then different ones try to

acknowledge her. She could recognize some, but some she couldn't, Okay,

And then she felt a bit like bad luck because

I'm supposed to know my colliques voices, right, because I've

been working with them for a while. I think we

should play that later, just to see if we can

recognize each other's voices. Yeah. So you know how many

of us can recognize if God is calling you, right,

how many of us can recognize I received a call

yesterday while I was driving, and some of you know,

I just changed into a new company, so I've been

saving some of the numbers of my new colliques and

so this one lady called and somehow I saved the number.

Maybe it took time to kind of uh sit in

that in my car that she bought. A name did

not show, so it was only a number. So she

just called and she said, Glora, can I talk to

you for a while? So now I asked, may I

know who is this and then she paused and oh,

I guess you did not save my number? She went

that way. Then I said, no, sorry, I saved your number.

But he just did not show. But I heard a

bit of a disappointment. Okay, I thought we just met

last week. I thought we spoke, you know, we exchanged numbers,

but you didn't recognize, or you didn't say or you

did not want to say. Right, So quite said right.

How is it when someone calls you and they ask

he who's this? But you know this person for so long?

Shoot the rest? Right? How do you think God feels

and he's calling you, slein, I'm calling you or you know,

answering right? Okay? Calling calling requires a respond And I

believe that God is calling us all the time. And

you know he does not calling us just because he

needs our help. I mean, he's God, right, he can

do everything and just as a snap he can get

things done. Yeah, but sometimes he because he knows we

need him, right, He knows we need him. He knows

that you are carrying something in your heart, and he says,

my child, I'm here, I'm knocking on your door. I'm

here to give you help while you're not answering, why

are you trying to figure things out yourself? Yeah, and

for some of you, God may be saying, I know

you have a gift I've given to you. You are

able to impact the lives around you. You have the

ability to speak and encourage others. So I'm calling you

so that you can do something. Why are you not answering?

Because there's so many others out there who have not

heard God's love. Yeah, and this is something God just

spoke to me to encourage all of us this morning

to not miss out that calling, because you know what,

the phone will not ring all the time, it would

stop right all of you know, it goes to the

voice mail. Yeah, so God will try calling you know

what he does. But he also gives us free will

at a certain point. If you don't avail yourself, you

might just miss that moment and it goes to someone

else who is there availing themselves. Yeah. So let's just

learn how can we not make it a miscall? Right?

But we respond to that call that God is giving us. Yeah, Now,

if you have your Bibles, let's just read the scripture. Okay,

we're going to turn to First Samuel chapter seventeen. We

all have your Bibles. Yes, Okay, we encourage you to

bring your physical bibles because it's so precious. Right, Let's

not forget how our Bible looks like. You know, some

countries they can't even hold it freely, but we can.

So let's hold it proud, yeah, and say this is

God's worth. Okay, So we're going to read first Samuel,

chapter seventeen. If you're not familiar with this story, well

you can take the time to read when you have

the time by because it's a long chapter. We're not

going to read the whole thing, but I'm just gonna

just just focus on a couple of scriptures here and

to give you a bit of a background. Yeah, so

we know David. Do you know what David's occupation was?

What I was see, businessman? A shepherd, right, he was

a shepherd. Yeah, And so in this story we can

see that David was. He wore her a victory, you know.

But it was not even his job. Okay, he was

not even supposed to be there. Actually, he was supposed

to be with his cliques, his sheeps, right, those were

his circle of friends to hang out every other day,

to feed them, to make sure they don't fall and

things like that. But somehow he was called into not

called but he was just positioned in a place where

he amazed everyone. And you know that David was a

very young boy. Okay. It was such a young by

maybe Truman's age or even terrorist it no, terrorists too young,

maybe Truman's age. Yeah, a youth. Okay, he was a

youth and he fought a giant. Right, So when you

read the first portion of chapter seventeen, you'll see there's

a bit of a background given and the people who

were just standing and waiting for someone who can actually

fight this big guy, Goliath. Okay, Now let's look at

worse four. And a champion went out from the cam

of the Philistines, named Goliath from God, whose hight was

six cubits and a span which in our language should

will be about nine feet nine age genuine nine feet

here how high is ninety feet quite high, reaching the ceiling,

reaching the ceiling, that was how tall Golia it was? Okay.

He had a bronze helmet on his head, and he

was armed with the coat of a male, and the

weight of the court was five thousand shackles of bronze,

and he had bronze armor on his legs and a

bronze javelain between his shoulders. Now, the staff of his

spear was like a weaver's beam, and his iron spear

headed weighted six hundred shackles and a shield barrier went

before him. So this is how Colia it was. If

you can just imagine, right, he's huge, his big, he

has all the armor that he needs to fight. So

this guy was ready to fight, okay, and I'm guessing

that he is assuming that he's gonna win because there's

no one else that was strong and big like him. Yeah,

So as you read through the scripture, you'll see that.

You know, the story goes on by talking about how

people were just anticipating, waiting for someone to actually fight Golia. Yeah.

In verse eleven, okay says when Saul and all Israel

heard these words of the Philistines, they were dismayed and

greatly afraid. Okay, And do you know who Saul was

at that time? He was the king, and even the

king was afraid. So who else is going to be

there to actually step forward and do something right? So

the context is yeah, okay, Now when we step into

verse thirteen, this is when David is introduced. Yeah, so

the three oldest sons of Jesse had gone to follow

Saul to the battle. The name of his three sons

were Eliep. The first born next to him was Ebin Adept,

and the third was Shama was fourteen. David was the

youngest and the three oldest followed Saul. So meaning the

tree followed Saul. David was just there doing what he

needed to do. Every other day, yeah, verse fifteen. David

occasionally went and returned from Saul to feed his father's

sheep at Bethlehem verse seventeen. Now David is given a task. Then,

Jesse said to his son, David, take now for your brothers.

For your brothers and effa of his dried grain and

these ten lows, and run to your brothers at the camp.

Thank you sorry. Yep. So the task that was given

to David was to actually just take something. He was

not even told to go and fight, but he said, okay,

just take this to your brothers because he was there. Okay,

And so what David did, There's two things that we

can pay attention here. In verse twenty, it says you're

all following, Yeah, if you have your bibles you can

just scroll through long. So verse twenty it says, so

David rose early in the morning, left the ship with

the kipper and took the things. And when as Jesse

had commented him, and he came to the camp as

the army was going out to fight and shouting for

the battle. So you can imagine this little young boy

who is carrying some things to bring to his brother,

and then he realized there's a big scene. Okay, if

you can imagine like all those wrestling shows that you

see right there on the court fighting and this little

boy is there wondering what's going on. And so what

he does He actually goes and asks the people what

is going on? Right, and then he gets information about yes,

there's this guy Goliath, but there's no one to actually

fight him. Yeah, okay, now let's just go on with

a couple of the moving on to a few other scriptures.

So in verse twenty seven, okay, this was the answer

that David received from the people. Yeah, and the people

answered him. In this this man is saying, so shall

it be done for the man who kills him? Now,

Elliob is oldest brother hurt when he spoke to the

man and Elliop's anger was a rose against David, and

he said, what did you come down here? And with

whom have you left? Those few ship in the wilderness.

So the brother sees him and ask him, okay, what

are you doing here? You have no business here, right?

And what are you even asking about the battle, because

there's nothing that you can do even if you offer

yourself right. So then David says, no, I can't do this, right.

He wants to fight this giant. Yeah. So then we

see in verse thirty one. Now, when the words which

David spoke were heard, they reported them to Saul and

he sent for him. Then David said to Saul, let

no man's heart fall because of him. Your servant will

go and fight this philistin. And Saul said to David,

you are not able to go. You are a youth,

and he is a man of war from his youth. Okay.

So now we have David saying, no, I am fight

going to fight, right, And if you think about it,

it's pretty ridiculous because you have all these big man's

and even the king was so afraid to fight Goliad.

But then again you have this young youth where she says,

no I can do it because it's for the people. Okay,

I will do it right. But of course Saul was saying, hey,

you're a youth. You have enough strength. You even have

muscles to fight Goliad, who is a big giant. Yeah.

But David said to Saul in verse thirty four, your

servant used to keep his father's sheep. And when a

lion or a bear came and took a lamb out

of the flock, I went out after it, struck it

and delivered the lamb from its mouth. And when it

arose against me, I caught it by its beard and

struck and killed it. Your servant has killed both lion

and bear, and this uncircumcised philistine will be like one

of them, seeing he has defeat the armies of the

living God was thirty seventh. Moreover, David said, the Lord

who delivered me from the paw of the lion and

from the paw of the bear, he will deliver me

from the hand of the philistine. And Saul say to David,

go and the Lord be with you. Yeah, so you

can see this portion, he referenced what he did previously. Okay,

like how you go for a job. You have all

your your past experiences, right, and this is what David did.

I fought lions, I fought Bess, and if God was

with me, what more? Now? Right now, let's take up

house for a while here and we'll go back to

what happens next. I'm going to share with you a

couple of points, and to these points you will see

that it's more of a reflection as well. Got a

bit of questions to get your thinking. Yeah, about what

David did and how did he recognize his calling? Okay,

for most people, they might think that, Okay, his calling

was just to be a shepherd. It stays there, right,

that was the most that he could do. But this

guy knew that there was more that he could actually

do and to meet the needs that were before him. Yeah.

The first point that we can actually learn from David

and about calling is observing the need that is in

front of you. Yeah, observing the need that is in

front of you. What David did was you was just obedient.

The father said, okay, take some break for your brothers.

The first thing he did was that he just took instruction. Yeah,

he took instruction. It's just obedient. He walked to that

place even the scriptures actually said that he woke up

early in the morning. Yeah, he woke up early in

the morning. That speaks something about his attitude. You know,

when you wake up early in the mornings, it means

it's something important for you, right, it speaks it's something

that you are prioritizing. Yeah. If it's not important for you,

well you wouldn't care, right. But David did that. He asked,

and he went and when he saw the chaotic situation,

he started asking around what is going on? Yeah, and

he realized that there was a need that had to

be met, meaning the battle. They needed someone who can fight. Yeah.

And if David did not ask, if David did not observe,

what do you think would have happened? Right? There will

be no one to fight Goliath. They would have taken

the land and where would these people go. The whole

story or the whole history would have changed. But because

David observed. And that's the thing about observing, right, if

you remember the last time you observe, you could only

observe when you're not caught up with my own life alone. Right.

Sometimes you can be somewhere, you can be seated here now,

but your minds can be somewhere else you can be

thinking about There's so many tasks to be done. I've

got so many problems, I've got so many burdens to

be done. And if someone is trying to have a

conversation with you or get something done, you may be

wondering what's going on because you're not really there to

observe to be in it. Or if there's a need

that is in front of you, you might not even

recognize it. Right, But David knew what was there. Okay,

as a human, I'm pretty sure he had different things

in his play, but he knew that when he was there,

he had to ask what's going on and to step in. Yeah,

a couple of scriptures just to encourage you. In efficients

one eighteen, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened, that

you may know what is the hope of his calling,

what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance

in the scenes, So that what God tells us here

is to have our understanding enlightened. For you to recognize

a calling or to recognize a need is when you

can see things the way God sees. Right. If you

think about people who are out there doing missions for example,

you know, helping people who are underprivilege or the oppress.

For you to have a compassion heart, it goes beyond

just being a human right, it goes beyond just caring

for them. But it's because God has placed a compassionate

heart in you. Right. God has called you and said, hey,

these people need care, right, these need people, These people

need love. And that comes with a realization that God

gives you. And that is what I mean by each

one of us will have different burdens, different struggles, and

I mean different needs that we see before us and

we answer and we respond to it. Yeah. Pal one

hundred and nineteen eighteen says, open my eyes that I

may see wondrous things from your law. And sometimes God

speaks to us through his word when you read a word,

when you meditate on it, and God says, hey, this

is what I'm calling you to do. Why don't you

answer that? Yeah? We were just after our weekend our conference, right,

So on Friday we had our leaders conference. I gave

we had a smaller group and so we had Pastor

Kennet taking one of the sessions with us. You were there,

you would have heard that one of the messages that

Pastor shared was about taking on the ground. He shared

from a Book of Samuel as well, and taking back

what the enemy has taken. And so when Pastor shared

that message, I felt God was confirming something in my

heart because one of the things that I do in

my job now is I go into government schools. Right,

I'm in the ground, I'm working with teachers. And so

I was talking to past and I was telling him,

you know what, God was confirming that message in me,

saying that, yes, we are taking back the ground. Right.

We all know stories and things that people say that

our government schools are just not really their parents are

not sending their kids there, you know, if they can

afford it. But you know what, these are assets of

our country, right. God has blessed us with education, and

it's so important for our younger generation.

Right.

And the more I went into schools, I see so

much hope. Teachers are doing a good job. Right, But

sometimes we just see some and we make a big

generalization there. But what I'm trying to say here is

that God just confirmed that burden in my heart. That

is my burden that God has placed in my heart

to help the schools, to help teachers, right, because that

is for our nation. And so God is just telling me,

take back, take back whatever that seems to have been lost,

you know, whatever that's not maybe not be going, well,

take it back. And I'm working in our country. Right

And the same thing, I believe God would have placed

different burdens in your hearts. What is it? What is

it that God is asking you to see the way

He wants you to see? Yeah, and I believe that

it's time for us to step out from just our

own lives. I mean, I know that there are many

things that we've got to do for our families, for

our own lives, right, but ministry is more than that, right,

the more after we have taken care of all that

our family, you know what's next. Thing. God helped me

to open my eyes to see the needs around me.

Because David could have just did what he did, give

the bread and go back to his life, the safe

life that he was so familiar with. But because he

saw our needs. And if you write the scriptures just now,

you'll see that he quoted God, right, he said, God

brought me out of that the same God can do

this again. Yeah, and that is why he answered that call. Right.

So what is it that God may be stirring within

your heart this year to do to impact second quarantines

for eighteen while we do not look at things which

are seen, but at things which are not seen. For

the things which are seen are temporary, but the things

which are not seen are eternal. And you know what's eternal?

Our salvation, right, the one day when we face God.

That's the one thing that matters for us to hear

from God saying good and faithful servant. Yeah, and that

is our salvation. So if we can pay so much

attention to the world and all that we have to

do every other day, are we also spending time to

share the gospel to someone who do not know Christ yet?

Because you know what, if your salvation is guaranteed. How

about your best friend who does not know Christ yet?

And you love that person so much, you spend so

much time with them. We talk about everything else, But

do we talk about God because that's what matters most

to them? Right? Do we tell about God to our family?

How are we living our lives to show that God

actually exists in my life? Are we a testimony? Right?

Because these are things that is eternal? Yeah, these are

things that is forever, forever. Yeah, you can read Matthew

twenty five thirty five to forty six by yourself. Yeah,

this is a scripture that talks about how sometimes you know,

we think that we are doing things and God is

not saying, but God sees everything that we're doing right.

And in this gospel, God talks about you know, feeding

the hungry, you know, feeding the poor, and these are

in the forms that God shows up again. Every time

you help someone who is in need, you are actually

glorifying God. You're doing it for him. Yeah, you don't

have to tell the world, like the scripture says, you

don't have to tell your left hand what your right

hand did, as long as God knows, okay, And that

is how God sees your giving and your heart. Yeah,

so what are those needs that are in front of

you that you can respond? So I have a couple

of these questions. You can just take it down. If

it's too early in the morning for you to reflect,

you can think about it later. Yeah, who do you

see around you that needs God's love? And the gospel?

Is there someone right beside you in your class, your classmates,

maybe your neighbor, your clique that you're seeing every other day. Right,

or it could be your family that you're seeing at home.

Who are those people that needs God's love that you

can respond to? What are the needs in your community?

And how can you help? Right? You're maybe very active

in your community and there's something that you want to do.

How can you use your talents and gives to serve

God's house? Any gift to any talent that is not used,

or what will happen to it? You forget? You forget

how to play the guitar, You forget how to sing

one day because it gets rusty? Right, So why not

use those gifts for God's house to serve him? Yeah,

to serve him? So can we respond? Can we observe

the things that are around us? Some of you are

placed in certain campuses or schools for a reason. Yeah,

for a reason. You may think that I chose that school,

I studied hard to go there. But God had a

bigger plan because God sees the beginning and the end,

and he knows that you are supposed to be there

because you're going to have that one friend decide you

who needs to know about Christ? And why don't you

do that? Right? Why don't you do that? You know,

life would have more meaning when we look at needs

beyond just ourselves. Do you think so? Right, Yes, we

can take care of our needs. We can make ourselves happy,

but how much can you do that to a certain point.

It's people that you need around you. Yeah, so let's

give a helping hand. Let's go beyond our bubble. Right,

There's so much more that we can amen. Yeah, so

let's do that, right, think about it, reflect and see

how God speaks to you. Now. The second point that

we can learn from what we read earlier about David

was that about remembering and recognizing what is God doing

in your life? Now? Yeah, sometimes you can go through

the most mundane days for you, you're like, oh, yes,

every day I have an eight o'clock class, I go

to a lecture, I come back, you know, I cook

my meal, that's it. Or I go to work, come back,

that's it. Right. But even in those days, in those moments,

God is teaching you something. Yeah, And it's good to

recognize what are those things, because you know what, It

could be preparing you for something else, right, It could

be preparing you to informasions. It could be preparing you

to speak to someone. Yeah, it could be in those

mondane times, or it could even be using your trials

or your challenges. Right. You might be thinking, I have

gone through so much in life, am I forgotten? But

you know what, the trials that you've gone through is

going to encourage someone down the road and they will

see that, Hey, you're a living hope. You are still leaving,

You're still breathing after all that you have gone through,

your health, you're sick, and now you are able to

do great things. You lost the love one and you

felt that everything else ended, but you're still speaking hope. Well,

that's because you can say, my God lives right, and

that's why I can leave. And you know what, that's

already got a gospel because you're telling people that I'm

a living testimony. And this is what people want to hear.

They want to hear real life stories, not just feel

good stories. Right, not just I'm happy. I'm good all

the time. But I have gone through the heart moments,

I've gone through the tough things, I've gone through anxiety,

I've gone through all this. But yet if I'm alive

and well, it is only because of who God is,

And so can I encourage you to take time to

remember what has God been doing in your life. And

I must tell you you're never too young to write

those things, because no matter what age, we can go

through stuff. Right. And if you can remember those things

when you're younger and when you're older, it makes you

a stronger person because I've tasted and see that the

Lord is good. Yeah, and that's going to be an

encouragement for artists. And that is what David did here.

You remember when we read this now he said, you know,

Saul was saying, you're a youth. How can you do this?

You're not even maybe half the size of Goliath? Right,

how are you going to do it? You can't. His

brothers said, no, you can't. Better go back, don't be

in this place. But David did not say I am strong,

I'm capable, because he was not physically. But all he

said was because God has been with me when I

had to fight those bears and I lions as a shepherd,

and the same God is going to help me overcome

this battle, right, And the same thing we can say,

because God has brought me true those journey, the testimonies,

the breakthroughth that He has given to us, I can

do this again. For another person. So let's not just

remember the good moments. Good moments are easy to remember, right, milestones, celebrations, achievements. Right,

But let's also remember those not very good stories. But

God brought you out of it, because those are the

real ones. Because it's easy to trust God in good times.

But is it easy to trust God in the not

so good times? Because it easy to give up and

say no, I don't want this anymore. But no, you

chose to still trust God. Right, So remember recognize what

God is doing in your lives. In Psalm seventy seven

eleven to twelve, it says, I will remember the works

of the Lord. Surely I will remember your wonders of all.

I will also meditate on all your work and talk

of your deed. In Ephesians two ten, it says we

are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works

which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Amen,

This is why God created this work? Isbi is workmanship. Yeah,

we went through the series about Potter and Clay, Right,

each of you were handcrafted by Him. Do you know

that you're not just okay whatever, let this person look

like this? You were crafted your identity is found in him.

He molded your heart. You're all special to him and

he created you that way so that you can do

his work. Yeah, so that you can be his mounth

peace human. So you can just think about this questions

here if you're wondering your city and you're thinking, do

I even have stories to share? What story am I

going to share? Well? My life is just normal. Well

not everyone gets a normal life, right, Yeah, think about

this questions, how did you accept Christ? And how have

you encountered Him in your life? Do you know? That's

your story? Yea? Some of you had a rough time

of you know, you accept the Christ, but you had

tribulation at home. Parents couldn't accept it, but you still

showed up to church. You still self God. Right, I'll

always remember Lends's story, right if you've put up his

testimony when he became a believer, family were not believe us.

Was it was it easy? Well?

Not?

But you still showed up. That's your story. Yeah, some

of you have so many other struggles, but you still

chose to accept Christ because you know what is it

like to trust him? Right? Think about the story. Don't

they say, yes, accepted Christ? But how was that moment? Okay,

how was that first love that you remembered about him

shouted to someone? How has God led you through different

challenges or trials in your life? Just jot it down

and when you start writing you will see, Wow, there's

a lot and God brought me through it. Yeah, breakthroughs

the journey of trusting God. And some of you might

be still in that season. But you know what, God

is not done yet. He is working even when you

can't see it. It's your journey of trusting him. Yeah,

count your blessings. Let's count our blessings. Even in the

most ordinary day. There's so much to count our blessings

for we woke up this morning. We have food on

our table. We have people. We have family around us, church,

a community. You have education which not everyone gets it.

You have a job. These are things that sometimes we

take it for granted, where many people do not have it. Yeah,

count your blessings. And you know what, if you can

answer this, you have your stories, you have remembered, you

have recognized who God is, and one day, when you're

facing a better like David, you can actually say all this,

you know what, I have all of these things going

and I know God came true and he will come

true again. That's going to speak hope to someone else's life. Amen. Yeah,

are we doing good church? Yeah? I hope you're catching something.

And because our Christian walk is practical, it's meant to

be an action. It meant it's meant to be practical

in the sense where you are doing something. Yeah, we're

not just here to feel the seeds, you know, and

feel good and go back. Well, God makes you feel good,

of course, you know, with a good time at church.

But more than that is what can I do with

what I'm learning today, because only then you can experience God. Yeah,

it's an action to have a relationship with him, to

speak with him, to draw closer with him the time

that you spend with him. Yeah, So that's why this

question is just to get you thinking right now. The

third point that we can see here is putting on

your armor. Okay, let's read the scriptures again. Okay, if

you can go back to First Samuel chapter seventeen. Okay,

so we stopped at the part where he says that

we've got delivered me from the pause of the Lion

and the Bear. He can deliver now, right, So it

stopped there, and so then in verse thirty eight, okay,

so let's see what salt. So Saul was like, okay, fine,

let's just get David to fight, because there's no one

else right who came forward. Even Saul was so scared.

So let's just let David go again. I'm guessing that

it's solved. When Saul said this, he would have been

preparing his mind to be like, okay, maybe this guy

is not going to come back alive. Yeah, you might

have had all those assumptions. So what does Saul say

in verse thirty eight, So Saul clothed David with his

hammer and put a bronze helmet on his head. He

also clothed him with a coat of mill verse thirty nine,

David fastened his sword on his armor and tried to walk,

for he had not tested them, because he didn't know

it's coming for a fight, right, And David said to Saul,

I cannot walk with this, for I have not tested them.

So David took them off. You can imagine, right, a

young boy wearing a big arm by Saul a king.

Of course, it's not gonna fit. Okay, it's gonna look

so draggy. And heavy, and so this boy just couldn't

fit into that armor, right, so he removed it. And

then in verse forty, what did he do? He took

his staff in his hand, and he chose for himself

five smooth stones from the brook and put them in

a shepherd's bag, in a pouch which he had, and

his sling was in his hand, and he drew near

to the Philistine. How many of you have seen someone

taking stones to fight in a war, in a battle,

in a wrestle, I don't think. So that's how it works, right,

And that's why Goliath says, what do you think? I'm

a dog? You know? For you to actually kill me

that way, right, sounds ridiculous. But you know what it

worked for David? Why? Because that is exactly what he's

been doing all his life as a shepherd, right. He's

been there in the field, he's been having those stones,

he's been having that sling, and he knows it works. Remember,

he tasted, and he knew that God is good. He

knew that God brought him true with those five stones,

with those sling, with all that little equipments that he

had in his hand. Because he knew that works for him. Yeah,

and what I'm trying to tell us this morning is

that same thing. Each one of us will have our

own equipment. Yeah, sometimes we compare. We compare another person

and this person can sing so well, I'm not singing

like that. I think I can't worship God. But you

have a different ability, right, Or you'll be thinking I

can't speak in the front. I can't, I don't have

the words. Well, God has a different way of using you.

But sometimes we just tend to put the armor of

other people in our lives and we try so hard

and then feel it's not working, and you're so disappointed

and we give up. But God doesn't want us to compare. Remember,

we're all so uniquely created. Yeah. If you turn around,

you there's no one looks like you. Okay, Selena, Yeah,

unless you have a twin. Selena is not here, Okay.

Even twins are so different. What more each one of us. So,

if David was so caught up with this identity, if

he did not know his identity, if you thought, okay,

this is what it means. If I have to go

for a war, I have to wear what soul has.

If you put it on, you wouldn't have been able

to balance. God knows what would have happened. You wouldn't

have been able to fight the battle. But because David

was so secured with his identity. He was a young boy,

but yet he knew who God is. He had a

strong relationship with him. His foundation was so secured that

he was not bothered whether he had it that armor

that someone else was wearing. He wore the armor that

God gave him. Right, he wore that armor and went forward.

Let's see what happens here. Okay. So he had those

smooth stones, shepherd's back, the little pouch. Okay, And when

I read this, I'll always imagine it's so cute for

this boy to actually go, friend, go forward that way?

Right now? Was forty one. So the Philistine came and

he began drawing near to David, and the man who

wore the shield went before him. And when Philiston looked

about and saw David, he disdained about disdained him, for

he was only a youth, rudy and good looking. So

the philistins say to David, am I a dog that

you have come to me with sticks? And the Philistine

cursed David by his gods, and the Philistines say to David,

come to me, and I will give your flesh, the

birds of the air and the bees of the field.

A bit violent here. Right then, David said to the Philistine,

you come to me with a thought, with a spear,

with a javelin. But I came to you in the

name of the Lord of Hosts, the God of the

armies of Israel, whom you have defeat. Right, So you

see what he says here. He doesn't say, you know,

he doesn't compare what Goliath had with him, because you

only had stones and a shepherd's pouch. But he said

that I am coming with God. God is by my

side in this battle. That is what he said. When

someone says something like this, you know what's in the

condition of their hearts. Yeah. When someone says, oh, I

achieved this because of my talents, my abilities, well you know,

then what's the condition of your heart? But you said, yes,

I did this because God enabled me to do it. Well,

that shows you allow God to walk through with you

and you got the victory. Yeah, and that is something

we can see about David. He put on the third point.

He actually put on the armor that God gave him. Right,

It was. Let's look at a couple of scriptures here

in second Timothy one seven, what does it say for

God has not given us a spirit of fear, but

of power of love and sound mind. Yeah, if David

had fear, what do you think would have happened to him?

You would have trampled, right, you would have trampled, you

would have freeze. I can't do this, and you wouldn't

have fought the battle. But because he allowed God to

be his foundation, he knew that God has not given

me this spirit of fear. And if I feel any

form of fear, it is not from him. It's just

the human part of it. And I don't want to

dwell in it. But what did God give him? Power?

Love and sound mind? And sometimes I think that the

enemy tries to mess so much with our minds. That

is why the word of God says, I am giving

you sound mind. When you go through trials in your life,

what do you think is affected? The first thing? Your minds?

Our minds goes all over, right, it goes one big

circle and things of the worst, though it may not

not be anything. Actually, sometimes and the enemy has tried

to take a footstool of our minds, you know, with

the kind of mental health things that we year around us,

especially in the midst of young people. Yeah. But if

you're seated here and you're saying, I am going through

this time, I'm always anxious of the worst, I'm always

feeling depressed. I want to speak God's word into your

life this morning, that God has not given you a

spirit of fear. He's given you power love and it's

not any other. Love is His love, and sound mine

sound my meaning. You have the gift for clarity. You're

don't have to even practice mindfulness. You can just ask

it from God in him. You know, you know you

know how to be mindful. You know how to this

sound because when you have a sound mind, there's so

much clarity, right, you know what to do. You move

in you know, you're more calm in handling things. You're

not just caught up with different things in life, right,

sound mind? Yeah, And I know David had that because

he could move forward. When you read Ephicients chapter six,

I'm not going to read the whole thing, but if

you read the Book of Efficients chapter six, this whole

passage talks about the armor of God, putting on the

armor of God. And you know what, don't just put

on your armor when you're going through trials. Put on

the armor of God every other day, because you've got

to be always ready. You've got to be always prepared.

And when tough things hit you, you are still strong

because God lives in you and He's equipped you with

what you need. Yeah. And so when you read through

the passage, you will see, Okay, I'm just gonna read

us a small portion here. It says in verse fourteen

Ephiicient six fortys tend therefore, having grated your ways, your

ways with truth, meaning you know what's the truth, not

the lie that enemy tells you. Put on the breastplate

of righteousness, your faith with the Gospel of Peace. Yeah.

Above all, taking the shield of faith, meaning you have

the shield of faith to protect you, which you'll be

able to quench all the fiery dads of the wicked one.

So the enemy can try to mess. The enemy can

try I tell you all kind of lies, but you

can show that shield. I have the shield of faith

to protect me. He can make me scare, but I'm

not affected because I am protected by the armor of God. Amen.

And all of you have that armor. It doesn't matter

whether you're a new believer, whether you're been a long

time Christian. As long as you believe in Christ, you

have the armor. Yeah, so let's put on the armor.

So just again these questions. Do you believe that God

wants to use you? Yeah? Do you believe? Because it

all goes with belief. Right. If you don't believe, let's

pray for you when you talk to God about it.

Sometimes there can be reasons why you feel that way. Yeah,

do you recognize the gifts and talents that God has

blessed you with? Some people, when I speak to them,

they say, what talent do I actually have? What gifts

do I have? But sometimes it's just a matter of

asking God and acknowledging it. He's doing it. And none

of us started off. We're all of it figured out right,

even the leaders here. I'm sure you all know this,

none of us are you know? We have it all?

We can speak, we can do this, and then no,

we all learn we're all still growing, by the way.

Congratulations start too, new leaders, infinite Eugene. Right, we've all

had our own journey to where we are today. Yeah,

do you recognize and are you willing to say yes Lord, Yeah,

I am use me. Yeah, if you're hesitating to say this,

then why don't you talk to God about it? Because

if God is knocking and giving you that call today

and say can you answer, what would you tell him? God? Wait? Still,

I'm still very new in my job. I need to

figure things out. I'll serve maybe a few years down

the road or when I retire it. Or are you

saying yes, I'll just do it in whatever way I

have the capacity, in whatever way you're gonna show me,

I will do it. Can we be quick to say

yes Lord? Because God did not wait to go down

to go up to the cross. Did he wait, did

he pause? Did he let me think about it? He

just did it anyway because He loved us so much.

Do we love him to say yes Lord, here I am. Yeah?

And the last point as we close is to step

forward with God. You know, we keep saying, answer the call,

say yes Lord, here I am. But when you do

all that, do it with God with you? Step forward?

Because you know, David kept on saying about God all

the way. He did not acknowledge his ability, but he

kept on saying God fought with me, and He's gonna

fight with me now, right. He kept on saying that,

And so we go back to the script. Okay, he

says here, It says here in verse forty six, this

day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, David

says this to Goliet, and I will strike you and

take your head. And this day I will give the

casts of the cam of the Philistian, the birds of

the air, the wild beasts of the earth, and all

the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.

Then all this assembly shall know that the Lord does

not safe with sword or spear. So you're trying to

give a message to the crowd that you know when

we win this, when I win this battle. God is

trying to say that you're not winning it because you're strong,

because you have all the sorts and all the equipment. Right.

But for the battle is the Lord's, and he will

give you into our hands. Amen. And when you read true,

you of us know who's the winner here. David one, Right,

David one. So stepping forward with God is so important.

He won the battle because he stepped forward with God,

and he was ready in every other season, right, and

he saw then he answered it. He recognized so Godess,

and he just went forward. Yeah, Isaiah forty one to ten.

I believe this scripture is for someone this morning. Fear not,

for I am with you. Be not dismayed, for I

am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will

help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Right God is saying, I'm gonna hold you in my

right hand, so you don't have to be walking, even

by yourself. If you feel too tired to walk, God

will carry you. Yeah, do not be fearful. In Romans

eight twenty eight, and we know that all things, not

just some. All things work together for good to those

who love God, to those who work the called according

to His purpose. At the end of the day, everything

works for good because we are here in His hands. Amen,

can invite extreme forward. It's the last question that I

have all of us this morning is are you ready

to take that type of faith to move forward with

God and allow him to lead away? Are you ready? Yeah,

we are already. The month of March. Time is always

going by so fast. And if you are still working

on your resolutions, all the best, don't give up. Keep

doing it. But as you do all of that, can

I just encourage us to take this tepe of faith.

Let God be one of your resolutions, in fact that

it should be the first one. I want to draw

closer to Him. I want to say yes, Lord, I

want to serve him. I just want to experience more

of Him. And when you do that, God works in

ways that you can't even imagine, you can't even expect. Gods,

God most Men.
