We hope this message will light up your day today.

I'm going to bring us through a topic about how

discipleship is servanthood, all right, and it puts next to

you and tell them servanthood. Okay, that's going to be

the focus of today's message, all right. And if you

think about servant hood, right, what comes to your mind?

To serve labor? It's not an easy task, right, servanhood,

when we talk about it, you've got to be doing

something requires humbleness, right. And you know who is the

greatest example the Bible who should us what servernhood is

Jesus himself, okay, the King of kings and the Lord

of Lord. He showed us what servanhood means. You know,

though he did not have to write, because he's enthrone,

he's the highest, you know, he was found equal with God.

That's what a scripture tells us. But yet he did

not just tell the disciples, oh, you've got to have

a servant heart. But he showed them what it means

to be a servant. Okay, And that's amazing, right, How

we are we have a God who shows us, who

walks the talk, and I hope all of us will

leave that kind of a life where we walk the

talk and not just tell people to do it right,

because that is where it carries the weight of what

we believe in and how we do it as well. Yeah,

and so turn with me. If you have your bibles today,

we're gonna read from the Book of John chapter thirteen.

You have your Bibles with you, yes, The silence means

I don't know, you don't know what they're holding a Bible, okay,

whether it's your physical Bible or your digital ones. All right,

We're gonna read from the Book of John, and this

morning I'm going to read from the NLT version, okay,

because there's some words which I feel would be able

to help us understand. Yeah. And you know, discipleship is servanthood, right,

And that image that I put in this now on

the screen is that hand reaching out to another person. Yeah,

but I would say servant hood is the one the

hand below okay, where sometimes you just got to be

down below as a servant reaching out to someone who

may be above you, okay, And where we say above

meaning someone who may still be able to not be

able to catch it yet. Right, or they are still

you know, far away from something. But a servant is

someone who can still be be low as a servant's

heart right and reaching out. You know. It's not so

much about I am tall and and and you know,

standing right and you you submit to me, okay, But

a servant is someone who can actually bow low and

reach out to someone. Yeah, And that is what Jesus

teaches us here in John chapter thirteen. Okay, are you

all there now? All right? Okay, So we're going to

read a couple of scriptures here, okay, and we have

versus one two. We're going to read true until versus seventeen. Agay,

and since there are seventeen verses, I think we should

all take tens to read. Shall we do that? Okay? Nick,

you can just pass, so Nick will start again. Then

you just passed the mic to Edeline, and then we'll

just go circle it down right, okay, So let's start

with versus one John.

Verse one is our that he should.

Talk from this world to the Father. Having loved his

own who work in the world. He loved them to them.

It's true, and supply him in the world put it

in less tide. Simon signed to betray him.

Well, we did that knowing that a father had left

all baked into a fan and that he had come

from God and one going through the God. It was cool.

So one of our people to love this room wrapped

the tower on his face.

Was fine, and oh see.

Them to give the boy because he might as well.

If there's one exec.

Really really as.

Because people believe.

Furs fo.

Yeh.

I said, we don't understand what I m never ever

washed feet. And the last time I watched you wanted

to know.

Yeah, you feel him now.

Because people.

Mm hmm, yeah, this is the thing. You wanted to think,

what is coming with me? And you happened, and that's

all happen.

But he knew who should be reading because you are.

Not all him.

I felt you had watched my ven. He said, you

know what I have done. That's the thing you call

me teacher and love. And you said, well for so

I am, and since I your word at the jam,

watch your face you yeah, very true?

Amen? All right, thank you, thank you for reading the scripture.

hope you caught something from the reading. Right And just

now we took the communion. Right, and so the very

act of Jesus before he even you know, conducted the

whole last Supper with the disciples, he actually did this

us right, And I believe it's a very important lesson

that he was trying to teach the disciples because this

is one of those final moments before he went to

the cross. Okay, So, meaning he had a very important

message to tell them before he assented. Okay, So meaning

it's important for us as well. Right. Remember, sometimes you know,

when people go through the final stages of their life,

whatever they say and do carry so much more weight

because they know, Okay, I have few final moments with

the people I love, which was his disciples, and I

want to get them. I want them to get it

right or to get it so that you know, they

can continue the work that I have left it for them. Okay.

So as we read the scripture, we can see that

it talks about how Jesus came into this old act.

If you can just imagine Jesus, I mean, at that

time the Jews they used to wear long ropes agay,

that was their attire at that time, right, And the

scripture here tells us okay, in versus four. Okay, So

he got up from the table took off his right.

In most of the videos of the movies you watch,

you know, they want to be a little bit more discrete, right,

they don't show a man taking off his clothes, okay.

And but Jesus, okay, he actually to take off his

rope and put on a towel around his waist. Okay.

And if you think about it, it takes a lot

of humbleness to do that, okay, because he was the

leader of the whole room that he was in, right,

But here is he had to remove that and put

on that towel, and then he kneeled down. Yeah, he

had to kneel down. He took a basin of water

and he poured water in it.

Yeah.

Just think about the poison that he had to come.

You know.

It was not just standing and say, okay, you slin,

what don't you fill up the basin? What do you

take that towel? No, he did it himself.

Right.

Remember every action carries weight, okay, And that is what

our Jesus showed us. You know, he when down, filled

up the basin, took a towel and was ready to

wash the feet of Geese of these disciples. Yeah, now

let me just give you a bit of context before

we can understand how is this symbolic and what can

we learn about servanthood here?

Right?

One of the things that we can understand. I mean

maybe for some of you, when you go back home,

I'm not sure how many you have the practice of

going and washing your feet, Okay, yes, some maybe, yes, Yeah,

you know, it's a good habit to have because you

you know, you don't know where you walked and then

you're entering into your house. Asians, mostly we would do that,

and especially during this time. Okay, they used to wear sandals.

They don't wear their sneakers, you know, or their shoes,

but they wear sandals because of it's so hot, right,

and it's more comfortable, right. And therefore you can imagine

they don't have tar roads like ours. Okay, it was

all sand, so your king on sand to get from

one place to another. So you can you imagine the

condition of their feet, right, It's going to be dirty,

of course, Okay, it's going to be filled with dust

and sand. And so it is only a custom and

practice at that time that when you enter into a place,

especially to eat together. You've got to wash your feet first, okay.

If not, and they don't sit down on high, tall tables,

you know, where you have a chair and a table

and you just sit down and eat. But they were

practically kneeling down, like you know the Japanese style restaurants. Yeah,

that's exactly how it was, Okay when we read the

customs and tradition, right, So imagine you're sitting beside someone,

your food is on the table, and if their if

their feet is dusty, it doesn't look right.

Yeah.

Yeah, so you've got to wash your feet and come

in and usually they'll have a servant who would do that, okay,

who would actually wipe their feet, you know, with the water,

and then they will go and sit and have their meals. Yeah.

So it is a custom that the disciples understood because

they were all from there, from that culture. But yet

none of them did it. Think about it, right, if

it was something normally people do, then shouldn't the disciples

be initiating it, right, taking the basin of water and

towel and all that, right, But no they didn't. Yeah

they didn't. But Jesus did it. Okay. So Jesus was

someone if you've read the Bible enough, you'd see he

took every moment to teach them something. Oh you're not

getting this, let me show you what it means here, right,

you're asking me, how do we feed the multitudes with

five loaves and two fish? Well, let me show you.

Right.

So he was basically what you call this when you

go to work and you learn and work at the

same time.

Right.

You don't just go to training two years and then

you go into the field.

Right.

But Jesus was on the job. Okay, you learn and

you do it, right. That is how Jesus taught the disciples. Yeah.

So it was a normal thing that disciples should be doing,

but they did not because it is meant to be

a lower you know, status or a group of people

that would usually do that, and none of them wanted to. Yeah.

And it was also an act of purity, okay, like

I said, because when you have clean feet and you're

sitting and having your food, it looks better, Okay. And

it's part of the culture and the tradition. And so

Jesus actually used this moment to show us what it

means to catch the heart of servanthood. Yeah, and I've

just read this phrase. Okay. This is by a Bible commenter, Colin. Okay,

he says this. I'm just gonna read it to you.

He says, Jesus action was unpresented. A wife might wash

her husband's feet, children might wash their father's feed, and

disciples might wash their master's feed. But in every case

it would be an act of extreme devotion. Right, So

even if a wife washing a husband, well, it's not

always the case. Right, It's extreme whether you want to

do it. YEA food washing was normally carried out by

a servant, not by those participating in the meal, and

certainly not by the one precedding at the meal, mean,

the one who is leading. According to later Jewish tradition,

a Jewish slave would not be asked to wash people's feet.

Even a Jewish fee a slave does not do that.

The task was assigned to a gentile slave. But yet

here wef Jesus showing us the act of being a servant.

That is how God went. Jesus went radical again. That

is why the people at that time could not understand him,

because he was just the other side of how people

see things. You know, if you view things, Jesus is

the other side, he goes way radical because he wanted

to show how radical God's love is for us, and

true enough, he showed it on the cross right that

no one else could have done. So what can we

learn about Jesus from this scripture that we read? What

does it mean about being a true disciple. I know

you've been learning a lot about being disciples the importance

of you know, being cared by someone or you caring

for someone. Right, But it's not just a structure. Yeah,

it's not just a system. And let me tell you this,

it's not just something that the church created, right. But

it's always been in the heart of Jesus himself. It

has always been in his splend that in order for

us to grow as believers. Yeah, in order for us

to see the church grow, meaning more people coming and

experiencing God, discipleship is essential, right, and the way to

go is to be a win first. So what we

can learn from Jesus is that Jesus came to serf

not to be served, right, Jesus came to serf not

to be served. Yeah, there are three very important acts

that we can see from the scriptures that we read this. Now, Firstly,

like I said he had to remove his rope and

bow down. Right, there's something about poisture, right, There's something

about the way we look at things, you know, And

that's why sometimes we have a reason why we encourage

our church to respond when you're you know, serving or

when you're hearing God's word, because there's a poisture we're

putting ourselves into. Like I'm here because I just want to,

you know, say yes Lord, say amen, because I believe

in it. Right, there's something about the physical. Yeah, if

you're expecting to read a book and you're sleeping in

a sleeping posture, would you ever read the book or

some of you do that because you want to slip off? Right,

And the same it is with our poisture at church. Right,

if you're not positioning ourself well in a physical manner.

You know, our eyes is closed thinking we are relaxing

and listening to the word of God. It's not going

to work that way. You're going to go enter it

into another realm, right, your dream lend Okay, that is

not how it should be. Right, So your poisture plays

a big part the way you sit, the way you

flip the Bible, the way you take down notes or

the way you listen and not allow other destructions to

come near you, right, And that is what Jesus teaches

us as well. He did not just preach a good

message to the disciples. Jesus was very good in what

he was doing, right. He could use parables, he could,

you know, the kind of things we're in the Bible

is a great teacher. That was his gift, right. But

he did not do all that, but he showed it

first to them in the form of his poisture. So

I remember watching a couple of movies and clips about this,

this cripture. And if you can just imagine, you know,

when Jesus was doing this, or if I'm doing this now,

you know, putting on a towel, what do you think

would be the reaction of the disciples wondering what's going on?

Oh?

I was supposed to be doing this, right Imagine, yeah,

like we have Jesus here doing all that, and then

I'll be thinking, yeah, it wasn't I supposed to take

a basin of water and be washing, But I waited

until Jesus had to do it, right, so that that

that face, you know, like why did I wait? Okay?

Or there would be a phase of like, you know,

what's going on. Jesus is the king of king, he's

going to He's supposed to be leading us for supper

right before he goes to the cross. But here is

washing the feet. I'm sure there were eyebrows stretched above

right thinking what is going on?

Right?

What is going on? And I'm sure it is for

the sum of us for some of us as well.

You know, does Jesus really love me? Like I mean,

I'm this mess. I made so many mistakes, but he

really went all the way for me? Yes he did right,

Yes he did in the most harmless way. Yeah, the

most humbless way. And so the first act we see

is the poisture that he went right. And then we

see him pouring water right when we read the scripture

just now it verse five and poured water into a basin.

And as I was reading this, I was reminded, how

you know, at the beginning of the Gospels, he tells

us that he is our living water, and He's water

is the one that quenches our tasts that will never

be tirsty. That's what he tells us, right, and that

He's water is the one that cleanses our sins, that

purifies us. Yeah, and I felt that there's something symbolic

about that water you're pouring. Okay, And you know when

Jesus was pouring the water, I'm sure Whende, when the

disciples was looking at it, different things were going on. Remember,

Jesus was teaching them a message, showing them something. So

what do you think would have been going on in

their minds? Yeah, Jesus is my living water, and yeah,

it is trying to do that in the most humble way, right,

the most humble way, and that is the true meaning

of washing the feet in fact purification. And then of

course we have this smart disciple who tells you, oh, well,

if that's the case, why don't you wipe my whole body? Right?

But then Jesus says, well, you are clean, right, And

he's reminding them that you are made clean because of me.

I have washed your sins, right. And so sometimes we

try to take it on ourselves, you know, like I

want to do more, and that is how some faith

are as well. I've got to do more good work,

I've got to serve more, I've got to strive my best.

Only then God loves me only then he saves me.

But even without doing all of that, do you know

that Jesus already loves you? Right, he already loves you.

And that is what Jesus was telling, you know, Simon

Peter in verse ten, a person who has but all

over does not need to wash except for the feet. Yeah,

so he was giving a message there, so purification the

living water, right, and then from there, of course, the

wiping of the feet, removing of the deaths on the feet,

because you think about it, your feet. Can you imagine

life without a feet? Of course not right. It takes

you places. It's either if you choose to stand up

on your feet, things happen. If you just choose to

sit down, nothing happens.

Right.

The feet plays a very important part, right though it's

the lowest part, you know, when we talk about washing feet.

It's the most dirty you know, that has a lot

of does. But at the same time, it's a part

of your body that takes you places. Right, And this

is what Jesus is trying to prepare the disciples for

because when I go right, as he goes on in

the scripture, he says, you've got to continue the work, okay,

and so yeah, I am preparing your feet. It all

starts with humbleness, and then you go on and do

the work that I have prepared you for.

Right.

And as we read the scripture towards the end, we

can see how he talks about Okay, in Versus twelve, right,

he says, after washing their feet, he put on his

rope again, and he sat down and asked them, do

you understand what I was doing? And I would like

to think that he had a conversation with the disciples

at that time. Okay, so maybe Simon Peter had something

to say, James had something to say, right, they would

have asked questions. Yeah, that is how Jesus taught them, right,

And that's truly what discipleship is. We have questions, we

talk about life, right, and then Jesus says, well, you

call me teacher, you call me lord, and you are

right because that is what I am. And since I

your lord and teacher, have washed your feet, now you

ought to wash each other's feet, right, each other's feet,

And I've given you an example to follow. So that

was his instruction to his disciples. He was teaching them

something knowledge, teaching them in theory, showing them how to

do it, and then saying, okay, this is your assignment.

Now go back and wash each other's feet. Yeah, and

now that we see what Jesus did, and okay, let

me remind you this. Also he washed the of the

disciple who was about to betray him as well. That's

another level of humbleness. How many of you would wash

the feet of someone you don't like? Thank you being honest?

Very high? Ah, very high. Okay, but he did it.

He did it, doesn't He talk about his heart and

how he loves everyone. Right, Sometimes we talk about, oh,

why isn't God punishing this man? Why is he still alive?

You know, he's done so many evil things, But that's

the heart of God. As human, we only see that

person and the mistakes. But God sees beyond that. He

sees him as a change person. He sees that when

I offer him grace, he will step out and be

a new person. Yeah. That is how God looks at us. Right.

And now that we've understood what Jesus was trying to

teach the disciples, okay, I'd like you to turn your

bibles to the Book of Philippians. Okay, chapter two Versus

one to eleven.

Right.

So, as we know, the Book of Philippians was written

by Paul the Apostle, right, and you know he was

one of the disciples that joined later on. Okay, he

was not part of the you know, watching of the

feed and all that. But again he emphasized about who

Jesus is in this scripture to just tell the church,

this is the example that you should be following. Right.

And so we're going to read from Philippians, chapter two,

versus one on wards, okay, whereas it says having the

attitude of Christ. Yeah, and as I read this scripture,

I'd just like you to think about what we read

just now, okay, and you tell me what is it

that you see similar? Okay? Because the first portion of

scripture we saw it was an action. If you're thinking

of a play, that was how it was like, okay,

him bowing down, washing the feet, right, it was an example.

Now this scripture in Philippians, it is him using an

example of that. All right, So you tell me what

you notice as we read, Okay, So I'm gonna read

it from verse one to eleven. Is there any encouragement

from belonging to Christ, any comfort from his love, any

fellowship together in the spirit. Are your hearts tender and compassionate,

Then make me truly happy by agreeing allheartedly with each other,

loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.

So this is called just telling the people, this is

what I wanted to do. Okay. It goes on in

verse three. Don't be selfish. Okay. The Nalty version uses

this word right. Don't be selfish. Don't try to impress others.

Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don't

look out only for your own interests, but take an

interest in others too. You must have the same attitudes.

That attitude that Christ Jesus had, now worse.

Six.

It says, though he was God, he did not think

of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead,

he gave up his divine privileges. He took the humble

position of a slave and was born as a human being.

When he appeared in a human form, he humbled himself

in obedience to God and died a criminal's death on

a cross. Therefore, God elevated him to the place of

highest honor and gave him the name above all other names,

that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow

in and on earth and under the earth, and every

tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory

of God, the father a man. What did you catch

from this scripture? And he thoughts we read a lot.

What was Paul reminding us of who God is? And

what kind of attitude that he had? Yes, you're right

spot on in Tyrol. Yeah, he did not look at

himself as God, though he is right, he's equal. He

came in the form of human, but yet he had

a servanthood heart. He was a servant. He came to

serf right, and that is why, as you read it

says he gave up his divine privileges. If you want

to give up your privileges, you have some entitlement, okay,

as a son, as a daughter, you know, or as

the titles and your qualifications, and you're saying, okay, give

it out all up and surf. It's not an easy thing, right,

But of course we have a lot of missionaries and

you know pastors who do that. They give up. And

that is what Jesus did here. He took a humble

position of a sleeve, right, took a humble position of

a sleeve. And because he did that, he was elevated.

Scripture tells us, right, he was elevated, and every knee

bow unto Jesus. Y what can we learned? Okay, it's

definitely not easy to be a servant, to have a

servant heart, to be humble, right, But what I can

tell us is that He has given us an example,

so meaning it is possible, all right, if something if

you can see and leaving example before us, meaning it

is possible, right, But it's whether we want to do

it and whether we have the courage to do it right.

And you know, I believe that when God calls us

to do something, he enables us to do that as well, right,

just like how the callings that He has in our

lives too.

Right.

So I'm just gonna share with you two points this morning,

right from what we have read, which I pray and

hope that we can also learn to carry this servant

with heart, Okay. And I wouldn't say that it's tough

if you choose to rely on God and help let

him help you do it.

Yeah.

So the first thing that we can see from the

scriptures we read this now is that discipleship is about

showing others the same kind of love that Jesus shows us.

How many of you know that Jesus loves you? Yes, right,

he loves you beyond any one else can love you, okay,

beyond your parents, beyond anyone? That is how great is love?

Is right?

And what is just exactly telling us to do here?

When we talk about servanthood is about loving. It's to love. Yeah,

it's a very simple word for alphabets, but it takes

a lot to do it.

Right.

If you love someone, you don't give up easily.

Right.

If you love someone, you'll go the extra mile for them.

Right.

If you love someone, you're willing to put down your

ego and say I'm sorry because you know what you

mean something to me. You're willing to forgive, to let go,

to say sorry. Sorry. It is not a difficult word.

But if you think about the last time you wanted

to say sorry but you held back, what could have

been the reason I'm right you're wrong? Could be sometimes

the pride, Yeah, could be because or does it look

like I'm sounding weak? If I say this, sometimes that's

how the world seys it? Right, it won't be so weak,

and you know, say sorry? Why not the other person

comes to you and say, but like I said, God's

ways are always very different. He shows us what it

means to be the bigger person. If they can't do it,

why not you do it?

Right?

Why not you do it? And that is what discipleship

is is to love others. Yeah, as we're read just

now John thirteen fifteen. Okay, it says, yeah, I have

set you an example that you should do as I

have done for you. And it says at the beginning

that Jesus loved his disciples. Right, Jesus loved the disciples,

and that is why he was showing them the very

act of doing it. Okay, parents who are here, when

you cloak, call your kids, I'm sure because you love them, right,

you love them not being hard and difficult, right, but

you know that. I mean, the kid may not see it,

or Mammy don't love me, you're so hard on me,

but you know that it's going to do good for them.

Write the scripture says, right, spare the rod, not the generation.

Now they don't really practice that much. I don't know.

It depends. Yeah, but that's love, right, You do it

because you know it's going to do good to them. Yeah,

and the same thing that Jesus did to the disciples.

He loved the disciples to bid and that's why he

was willing to journey with them though they wanted to

betray him. Though they questioned him. Right. And if you

understand the characters of the disciples, right, they are not

easy people. They were not just like, okay, we follow

Jesus everywhere. I'll say yes. When you say yes, I'll

say no, and you say no. No. They questioned him

because you know what they were had minds of their own, right.

They asked him, why are you sitting with the sinners?

Right?

Why are you doing this? You know, they had all

those white questions. But we're still so patient because you

know why he loved them. He hadn't picked them. Remember,

there was one of the first few things he did.

He went and reached out and said, follow me. So

he knew who were the disciples that you wanted to

teach and guide, right, And that is what he was

trying to tell the people that servanthood is about loving others.

Because if you can love someone you don't, you are

not worried about going humble, right, You're not worried about

going down on your feet and washing someone's feet because

you love them, you are trying to express something to them. Yeah,

I want to purify you. I want to make you clean,

you know, want to make sure your feets are clean

and they smell good, you know, so you can sit

down and enjoy your meal. Right, he loved his disciples. Yeah,

He's loved disciples. And of course, if you're trying to

love others from an empty tank, okay, meaning if you

don't know what I said. The first question I asked

you is you know Jesus loves you? Because if you

don't know that Jesus loves you, when I say just

loves you, not like how we just say, oh, Jesus

loves you, but it means you have fully experienced it.

You know you have gone through the toughest time and

yet you found yourself standing up again because you know

God's love is great. That is the kind of love

you're talking about, the agha pei love, right, the love

that never never thinks of how good you are or

whether you deserve it, but he still loves you.

Right.

And if we can know an experience that kind of

a love, we can do the same to others. Because

you have something to offer, simple as that if you

don't have it within you, if you feel like you're

not loved, it's going to be hard for you to

love someone, right, It's going to be hard for you

to love someone. But you've got to know and experience

the true love of God. And so if you're seated

here this morning and it's been a while since you

have truly experienced the love of God, can I ask

you to go back to Him?

Right?

Go back to Him. Don't just write on religion, if

you know what I'm trying to say, Okay, meaning, let

me just write on what Sunday can offer me. Let's

see what songs that shallin chooses, whether it will help

me to come back to God. Okay, Let's see what

express ourselves. Maybe good food, Okay, I feel happy and

I'll come back to church, okay, or what you know?

The word God definitely speaks to us, right, but it's

also a very personal relationship that you've got to feel

every other day. Okay. And so if you're seated here

today thinking that I've not felt this love for some time.

I know Him as a God. I've been going to church,

I have a Bible, But what does this love truly

mean or feel like, well, it's okay to feel that

way because you're the right place and God is here.

He's manistring to you. Yeah, So feeling the love of God,

spending time with him, growing in our relationship with him

because when we know him more, eventually loving others becomes

something with the flow. You don't have to try so hard.

You all like, you have to meet this person and

I've got to spend time with them. Can you feel

yourself dragging to meet someone? It's not easy, You still

do it, but it's half hearted, right, But if you

love the person, you don't mind traveling miles, right, and

you'll just sit down and eat with them, and even

if they have a lot of things to talk about,

you'll still go on and on because you love that friendship.

You love that person, right, no matter how difficult the

person is, you know, not answering your calls, but you

still do it anyway because you love the person. Right.

It goes with the flow, okay. And so that is

why I say our faith is created in a way

where God has things planned so intentional that when we

do it, when we just obey, even if you don't

see the full picture. Yet he shows us what's the

next thing? Right, And that is why when Simon Peter

was so like wondering, why are you washing my feet,

Jesus say is You've just got to believe me because

I know what I'm doing. And that is how it

is in our lives. Sometimes, right, different things happen. We wonder, God,

what are you actually teaching me? God is saying, you've

got to just trust me. You've got to just trust

me because I know what's the next thing. You don't know.

You may have it written in your journal that this

is what's the next thing, but when it happened, only

he knows, right, But he knows the beginning and he

knows the And yeah, so can I just encourage us

that if you want to catch the heart of servanthood

is to first fully experience the love of God and

to know that He loves you beyond all measure. And

that is why he calls us to do it until others.

And if you can do it to others, well, then

you've caught the heart of servanhood. Right, You've caught the

heart of sanhood? Are you good?

Church?

Yeah?

And the next thing that we can learn about this

scripture here that we read about servanthood is that discipleship

is knowing who we are as a child of God.

Do you know why Jesus could do it with all confidence?

What he did?

You know he could go and boldly preach the crowd

people was opposing him and saying all kinds of things

about him, But he still did it anyway because he

knew whose son he was, he is the son of God.

He knew his purpose. Okay, yes, I have these years

to be in this land, no matter what people say,

I'm just going to keep doing it. I'm going to

be confident, like it's going to be bold because I

have a mission. I have a goal. Right. How many

of us living our lives with that purpose? Okay, I

have this years in earth on earth? Right, am I

doing what He has created me to do?

Yeah?

And our callings, like I say, can be very different.

But it's a matter of how we do it right. Yeah,

how we do it right. Let's not just live our

lives in a way where we just want to Okay,

if I get that, then I'm going to do it

the next thing. I don't think that's how it should work.

But start where you are now, today, if you're praying

for something and say, God lead me. What's the next

step in terms of ministry, in terms of you know,

career studies, whatever it is. Yes, God would be leading you, definitely,

that is why you are here. But at this very moment,

how can you do something for him? Right? How can

you be his servant? Because God, Jesus knew he's calling

his purpose and that is why you could do radical

things that human could not understand. Yeah, so Jesus, there

was no doubt that Jesus was very secure in his identity. Yeah,

he was very secure in his identity. In John thirteen,

Trees says, Jesus knew that the Father had put all

things under his power and that he had come from

God and was returning to God. Yeah, so he had

all power. So Jesus put his trust in the Father,

that he was completely loved, he had a future, and

knew his sacrifice had a purpose. So him being a servant,

him getting all the bashing from people, the unbelief, he

knew that there was a purpose and it's going to

be with it. Yeah, it's going to be worth it.

So being secure and so that's why some of us

when we are asked to do something or to answer

a call. Sometimes we tend to hesitate. Why are we

not confident enough about who God has called me to?

Be?

Right? Because if you think about what I can do

my abilities, I think it never ends right. We'll always

think that you're not equipped enough. That's just how humans are.

Right.

But if you're going to go with confidence and faith

and say, yes, see this is where God has planted

me and has called me to do this, I'm going

to do it right, no matter how ready I am,

I'm going to do it because God calls me. Yeah,

God calls me. And that is how it is to

be a servant as well. Okay, it's not to get

it all right or to know it all, but they

just get started where you are, amen? Right? So if

I can ask you this morning, okay, every card the

heart of a servanthood, Okay, because we're all in different

phases of our lives, right, and God may be asking

us to be humble in many ways, whether it is

in terms of forgiveness, whether it's the way we serve,

the way our relationships are with people. But I feel

that the whole thing about servanthood is the secret to

catching the heart of God, because until and unless we

can be humble, we're going to miss out the point

because you're going to be so focused on I know better,

my plans is better. Right, But if we can be

humble and to catch the heart of servanthood, we're going

to go with His ways because we just you know,

remain humble and and and do things faithfully, right, and

He leads the way. Yeah, I hope something you're catching

something this morning, right about what God teaches us here

about washing the feet of the disciples. Right, and of

course washing the feel of disciples is is an example. Right,

It is not something that we would do, but think

about it in your mindsets, your perspectives. Right, is there

something that God is calling you? Is there someone that

God is calling you to wash the person's feet? You

can think about the people in your life. Yeah, sometimes

they can be within your families as well. Right, you

just got to be a little bit more, you know, humble,

take a step back and say, Okay, I'm going to

wash your feet, not because you know, I just want

to do it, but it's because I respect you, I

love you, and I'm doing this.

Yeah.

Who is it that God may be calling you?

To do that.

Right, It could be the people in your lives as well.

It could be us leaders to I hear, you're leading

the house of God in and out right, but every

court the heart of servanthood.

Yeah.

I just to end with this scripture as we read

Philippians chapter two. Okay, as you go on below Versus twelve. Okay,

Paul reminds us, Okay, now that we have seen this

example of Jesus being as humble servant washing the feet

of the disciples. And then he talks about how him

stripping away you know, everything that was his privilege and

you know, took an humble position, right, And now what

are we called to do?

Yeah?

What are we called to do? Let's look at Versus twelve. Okay,

Philippines two Versus twelve, it says, dear friends, you also

followed my instruction when I was with you, and now

that I'm away, it is even more important. Work hard

to show the results of your salvation, obeying with God

with deep reverence and fear, for God is working in you,

giving you the desire and the power to do what

pleases him. How many of you believe that God is

working in you now? Right in the different seasons of

your life. Like I said, God doesn't just work in

you when things are all okay. Yeah, God sometimes works

in you when you are waiting for something, when you

are believing for a miracle, when you're believing for a breakthrough.

He is working in you because he has something greater. Yeah,

do everything without complaining and arguing. Can we do that? Yeah?

Let us not be a church that argues or complain,

not saying that we do.

Yeah.

But it's just a reminder for us, right, because sometimes

we're always asking what is it for us? What can

I get from this?

Yeah?

But I think it's time for us to just submit

to God's plens and do what we can. Yeah, so

that no one can criticize you. Yeah, leave clean, innocent

lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in

a world full of rokut. And preserve people perverse people.

Yeah.

You know that we're living in a fallen world. There's

all kinds of things that are going on around us.

But can we be the different people living an upright life,

being kind, being loving to add this, Yeah, whole firmly

to the Word of life. If everything else fails, just

hold on to the Word of God, it doesn't fail you.

Yeah.

Then on the day of Christ's return, how many of

your waiting for Christ's written? Yes, yes, okay, be excited

for that.

Yeah.

I know there's a lot to live on in this world.

You're enjoying your life, right, But that's how ultimate.

Wait.

Okay, And if you think about it, when Christ comes,

you're going to leave everything behind and just us alone

going to him. And the only respond that you want

to hear from it is good and faithful servant. And

the question I always ask myself is how am I

feeding my soul? How am I prepared ring myself that

when he comes, I'm just ready to go. Yeah, then

I'm ready to go. And that is what Paul reminds

us here that in the day of Christ's return, I

will be proud that I did not run the race

in vain Wain. You're not pleasing people, You're not doing

it for fame, You're not doing it to or because

everyone else is seeing. No, I'm doing it to please

him and that my work was not useless. Yeah, if

you can, I just want to encourage you to keep

meditating on this scripture throughout this week. Yeah, especially Philippians

to twelve onwards that we read just now and ask

the Lord God, how how can I catch this heart

of yours? There's so many things that he tells us here.

Right to be humble, you know, to be doing everything

without complaining. It is easy to read sometimes, but when

you are living with people around you, it triggers you. Yeah,

but that is when you need more God's grace. And

so ask the Lord God says, ask wisdom, and our

will grunt right. And when the spirit of God leaves

in us, he enables us to do some of these

things that we cannot do it by our own ability. Right,

And let God continuously mold us and make us the

person that he wants us to be, because He's always

working in us, no matter what age, no matter if

you're gone through different seasons of life. He's still doing something.

But it's just a matter of whether we are making

room for him to move in us. Amen.
