You're listening to a message to go from acts Church.
-
We hope this message will light up your day.
-
Okay, so let's go on to today's word. And I'm
-
just drawing from what I called during the Missions conference,
-
and because at the end of the day, when I
-
was hearing all theirs, their sharing writ their stories and
-
and even looking at the legacy that they are leaving behind. Right,
-
the very reason why they are able to do what
-
they're doing for so many years, you know, and paying
-
the price though it's so difficult, it's because they are
-
very clear of their purpose, right, They're very clear of
-
their existence. Because sometimes as human sometimes by most times,
-
I think, we get so distracted with what's important in
-
front of us. Do we agree? Right? And so many
-
voices as well, you know what do we need to
-
pay attention to? What do I say? Yes? And know
-
to write? So we are always influenced by different things
-
around us, right, But what can keep you in the
-
cause and to keep moving forward is when you're very
-
sure of your identity, that's first. And why are we existed?
-
Why were we created in this earth? You know? Why
-
were we you know? Why did you just go the
-
extra mile on the cross? For you and me. There
-
must be a bigger purpose. Yeah. And if you're seated
-
here today and you're thinking, I don't know what's my purpose.
-
I want to give up? Can I cheer you on
-
and say don't do that, because there's so much more hit, right,
-
And God is working in ways sometimes that we cannot see,
-
but he's doing something. And so we're going to learn
-
today from the early Church. Okay, the Book of Accies.
-
We have been reading this if you've been following the
-
forty Days of Fast thing, right, we've been reading the
-
Book of Acts as well. And I'm going to start
-
with the first portion here from Jesus himself. He's encounter
-
and you can turn your bibles to John chapter four, right,
-
John chapter four versus thirty one. Okay, this is when
-
they were in the midst of, you know, doing ministry
-
and following Jesus to the different places that he was
-
traveling to. And this is what I mean by sometimes
-
we get so distracted because the disciples were so concerned about, Okay,
-
what should we eat. I'm sure we're all thinking of
-
what's lunch next or so right, It's just a human thing,
-
you know. We think of the flesh and so the
-
disciples tries to say, okay, we need to get food
-
for Jesus. But his focus was so different. I mean,
-
he was fully man, fully flesh when he was on earth,
-
and I'm sure he had times when he was hungry
-
and thirsty as well. Right, he did that, but at
-
the same time he knew that my priorities is what
-
my purpose is. Very clear. Yeah, so let's just read
-
on from John chapter four versus thirty one. The kid says,
-
in the meantime, his disciples urged him, saying, rubbi eat,
-
But he said to them, I have food to eat
-
of which you do not know. Therefore, the disciples say
-
to one another, as anyone brought him anything to eat.
-
Jesus say to them, my food is to do the
-
will of him who sent me, and to finish his work.
-
Do you not say, there are still four months and
-
then comes the harvest. Behold, I say to you, lift
-
up your eyes and look at the fields, for they
-
are already white for harvests. And he who reaps receives
-
wages and gathers fruit for eternal life. That both he
-
who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. For
-
in this saying it is true one source and another reaps.
-
I send you to reap that for which you have
-
no labored. Others have labored, and you have entered into
-
their labors. God blessed the reading of his word. So
-
this whole conversation is of how Jesus is sharing of
-
the need, Okay, And he uses an example of agriculture.
-
How harvesting happens. There's a time, there's a season for it, right,
-
and how we are called to partner. You know, we
-
can't keep striving and keep doing things in our own
-
way because God has his own timing at the same time. Yeah,
-
but what he's calling us to do here is that
-
are we answering the call right? Because the harvest is plentiful.
-
There are needs that are before us, right, and are
-
we actually trying to work on the ground. Whether you
-
see the fruits now or later is the matter of season.
-
You know.
-
God is the one who convicts, hearts softens ground. But
-
we are called to answer and to do it first. Yeah,
-
And if you can just now take some time and
-
think about your surrounding, Okay, whether you're staying here insurance
-
or whether you are in your workplace in the midst
-
of your family, what are the needs that you can see?
-
Are there still people that needs to be saved? Sometimes
-
within our families as well? Right that cliques that are
-
around you, you walk in and out every time seeing them,
-
do they know Christ? Yeah, you go to your school
-
every other day. Are their friends who still do not
-
know the truth? Or when you hear the news and
-
you hear the things that we you know, when we
-
I mean I signed up for the workshop on the
-
oran Asli right, Nick and Trident was there too, and
-
when you hear the stories and these are our very
-
own native people and they're not too far, they're just
-
within Slango. And yet statistics shows that there are so
-
many still unriched people, unreached people group. And it's not
-
because they don't want but no one has reached out
-
to these people, right, just trying to help us understand
-
the need that's out there, and if only we step out,
-
we can see it. And that is why we see
-
that whole conversation between the disciples. Disciples were very you know,
-
they go only see what's for now, what we're going
-
to eat, what's next. But Jesus saw beyond that. He knew, yes,
-
we've got to feed our flesh, but my priority is
-
to do the will of my father. Yeah, how many
-
of us will answer that call? Right? And that is
-
going to be our message for today. Whether do we know?
-
Why do we exist? Yeah? And our purpose? So let's
-
just draw from the early Church, you know, to because
-
the whole thing about this early church, when we read
-
about the Book of AX. If you've been long enough
-
a believer, I'm sure you've read this book as well,
-
you'll see how the church just grew quickly. That must
-
be a secret there, right, there must be something that
-
they caught because they're serving the same God. Well during
-
the Book of X, Jesus was not there walking with them. Yeah,
-
they had the Holy Spirit. So they're kind of like
-
the same time with us, you know, like how extra
-
us is we are the same season and time with
-
the Book of X. So what is it that we
-
can glean from this church that we can also believe
-
and see God moving in our church as well? Yeah?
-
So the first thing is that the early church knew
-
why they existed, and in fact, we were very unified
-
of that purpose. Yeah, they knew their calling and that's
-
why when you read you know, different scriptures in X
-
four thirty two. Right, it says now the multitudes of
-
those who believe were of one heart and one soul,
-
and with great power the apostles were giving testimonies to
-
the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and with great grace
-
was on all of them. So the first thing is
-
that they were off one heart and one soul. That's
-
very important. Were they of different shapes and sizes, I'm
-
sure yeah, there were tall ones that were the different raises,
-
different personalities, but yet one heart, one soul. Is it possible? Yes,
-
For the longest time humankind has been fighting about diversity,
-
in fact until today, right, But you know what it
-
was possible in the Book of CS right, people could
-
respect all the differences and at the same time being
-
one spirit. Yeah. And Jesus in fact, it enlisted these
-
followers not to a life of leisure, but to a
-
life of service. We saw that in his life as well.
-
While each had a different task, they had the same
-
calling to fulfill the great commission of their generation. So
-
we can all have different abilities, we can all have
-
different interests, desires. But my one question for allow us
-
today is are we aware that we have one calling?
-
Because if our church cannot recognize that one calling. It's
-
going to be so hard for us to save souls
-
out there because everyone is going to be doing their
-
whole thing. Right, let's focus this part of church. Let's
-
focus on that part. Sometimes things that we shouldn't even
-
pay attention to, right, conversations and you know, talking about others,
-
these things are not important. What's important to win souls? Right?
-
But are we very clear with that purpose? Yeah? There
-
was one leader, which is Jesus. Do we know who
-
our leader is? Not past the gloria Jesus? Right, Jesus
-
is the leader of our church one purpose which is
-
to communicate the Gospel to all people, to all people.
-
So if we are positioned here for us in this location,
-
how much are we doing to bring that gospel out? Yeah?
-
And I think it's very important that we recognize this.
-
If not, like I said, the time goes by so
-
far as August, But what are we doing as a church,
-
Because we can do different initiatives, having surveys, having homes,
-
having prayer service, these things are very important, but on
-
our daily basis, what are the parts or roles that
-
we are playing to contribute towards building God's Churchy? So
-
We're going to look at a couple of points here.
-
The first one that we can see from the Book
-
of x X chapter four versus thirty two, right, And
-
the first point is that there was unity in the
-
Church of God. What does unity look to you? Tell
-
me togetherness? Peace? Someone said peace? Is it? Okay? One? Okay?
-
So how do you see it among people? So let's
-
say they see extra us. How would we know that
-
we are in unity? How would you see that? If
-
someone is asking you? Right, church always talks about unity,
-
But how how do we see that? Or not just
-
to us, maybe just Christians as a whole fellowship? People
-
come together for fellowship, okay, because you want to spend
-
time with people that you know, you can get along,
-
you care for them, you come go your journey with
-
them through the ups and downs. Right, So there's that
-
sense of fellowship. Yes, we have different backgrounds. Turn to
-
the person next to you. Do they look like you?
-
I'm sure not unless there's a twin. But even twin
-
is not here. Okay. We are all different backgrounds, right,
-
different and personalities. Do we always agree with each other? No?
-
But we still love each other?
-
Right.
-
We are called as brothers and sisters. In Christ, right,
-
and different backgrounds, but we come together. What else values? Yes,
-
we share the same values, right, especially as a believer
-
that things that we know is important. What should we do?
-
What should we not do? Right? Yeah? Anything else? Acceptance? Yeah,
-
that's so important and the church should always be open
-
for acceptance. Right the moment, we are so fixated to
-
our way of doing things. I am right, we're going
-
to just shut people out, right, like what God always says,
-
you know, love, I mean love the sinner, but hate
-
the sin. Right. So Jesus was a good example. He
-
will love everyone, even those that the community disregarded. No
-
one wanted to talk to them, but he went and
-
talked to them. Can we be like that as well? Right?
-
Reaching out to those others don't want to be a
-
friend too, They're not the cool kids, and yet you
-
reach out to them because you're just so different. Yeah,
-
that is unity, right, acceptance. So when we look at
-
the early church, right, let's go back to scriptures your
-
X chapter four versus thirty two. Okay, the same scripture
-
that we read. It's not just gonna read again. Now.
-
The multitude of those who believed were a one heart,
-
one soul, neither did anyone say that any of the
-
things he possessed was his own? But they had all
-
things in common. Yeah, So first of all, they had
-
a relationship, like some of you mentioned, we have fellowship.
-
They enjoyed each other's company, you know, and they could
-
share different different ups and downs in life together. Right.
-
They were followers of Christ in partnership. So that is
-
why we are so big in calling each other partners,
-
not just members. Right, members we just come and enjoy
-
the free gifts, but partners is when you want to
-
work together and build the Kingdom of God. Yeah, And
-
I think what's so important and we speak about unity
-
here beyond the fellowship, beyond the spend spending time together
-
and all that, it's important that we understand that the
-
purpose is to corporate together, not just in what we
-
do well within the four walls, but what can we
-
do well to in the outside as well. So now
-
that we say, okay, we have same values, right, we
-
come from different personalities and backgrounds, yet we come together,
-
we enjoy each other's fellowship. But can we bring the
-
same unity when we're out there? Because I believe that
-
when it's tested, you know, when they see Okay, who
-
Christians are meaning they can see Shelin in a different place,
-
you know, they can see Michelle in a different place,
-
Nick in a different place, but yet they see. Right,
-
these three people still got something that is the same.
-
They still carry the same value. They're different people, but
-
because they believe in one God, we all have that
-
one God. They carry the same value. But the moment
-
we don't have that in similar That is why people
-
sometimes doubt are you a Christian? Right? And sadly sometimes
-
that's reality. Yeah, people don't want to be friends with Christians.
-
Why you're just too holy? I can't be myself share
-
with you. Or you're always just wanting to preach the word,
-
but you're not listening to me. Right, Yes, we are
-
called to bring the word, We are called to be
-
walking in spirit, but can be also relate to people.
-
Because Jesus did that first, right, he shared a meal,
-
he could talk to them. Then he brought the word
-
because you know what, there's a friendship that was built first.
-
There was a relationship build and people trust. Well, this
-
person came to me when everyone else said no, But
-
this person was so humble to come down to me. Yeah,
-
and I believe that. So when unity is tested because
-
in church, right, it's so easy for us to see
-
or identify all leaders are all were in court. Okay,
-
everyone is dressing their best, everyone has a way of
-
responding and saying yes and worshiping, right, because it's a community. Yeah,
-
But when you are out there, can we still bring
-
the same values. Yeah? And I'll give you a challenge
-
to do that. When you go back for your Mondays,
-
to your work, to your school, can you speak the
-
same the way you speak in church? Because in church
-
everyone is so polite, right, I hope so. Okay, at
-
least we don't hear swearing and all that. Okay, we
-
are like just a bit more polite, a bit more smiley,
-
And but can we be that same person out there
-
or when work comes and stressed out and you know
-
you're speaking like anyone else? Right, that's the real hard check,
-
because you know what they are the ones who need Christ?
-
Your friends here, I think, yeah, all of us here
-
no Christ, right, But it's the people out there that
-
needs to know the real deal. Why do I need
-
to be a believer? Why do I need to believe
-
in this God that you say is the only one?
-
So if I cannot testify and say the goodness and
-
the and the transformation that He has made in my life.
-
If I can't show that out, then I can't lead
-
people to Christ. Yeah. And that's a challenge I always
-
put myself into because I'm constantly meeting people of different
-
faith and sometimes it's the majority, most times it's majority,
-
all right. And so that's when I always ask myself,
-
how can I show to people that or don't just
-
tell them I'm a Christian, but true my actions through
-
the things I say to the ways I respond. Can
-
I just leave a little bit of Christ in them?
-
Can I leave a little bit of hope or love
-
in them? Yeah? And I pray that will be the
-
desire for extra Us. And that is how you will
-
win people to Christ. You don't have to try so hard,
-
you don't have to memorize the Bible, you don't have
-
to be a scholar to do that. You just got
-
to be a true follower of Jesus Christ. Amen. How
-
many of you are followers of Jesus Christ? Right? Yeah,
-
let's do that. Let's answer the call and let's bring
-
back that same values out there. Yeah, that is what
-
true unity is. Amen. Right. The second one that we
-
can learn from this. Firstly is the unity. The second
-
is that the Book of X when you see the
-
people here, they experience the power of God and that
-
is why they could speak about him so boldly. Yeah,
-
how many of you will? I mean, if you've been
-
working long enough and someone says, can you refer this
-
person to work in this company? And if you don't
-
know this person at all, would you dare to say yes,
-
can you hire him or her? I don't think so, right.
-
Most of the time, you trust that this person can
-
do their job. They are credible, you know all these things. Okay,
-
then yes, I can be your reference. Yeah. I always
-
had to do this when I was teaching last time.
-
You know, students will come back to me and say, Miscloria,
-
can you please put can you refer me for a
-
job I'm applying and all that someone I'll say no
-
because I don't even know you in class, right, you're
-
not listening, and now you want my reference? Right? And
-
then of course there are those who I'll say yes. Right.
-
But what I'm trying to say here is that when
-
you experience the power of God, when you have experienced
-
God for yourself, it will be so much more easier
-
for you to bring the gospel out because your life
-
is self is a living testimony. They see you and
-
they say, wow, you've gone through so much. You know
-
you have you you have all the reasons to give up.
-
But yet you are coming every day to the office smiling.
-
You're coming every day encouraging others. The something, right is
-
what are you doing? Are you eating something? He said, no,
-
I'm eating the bread of life. Right, that is what
-
keeps me going. Yeah, that is your fuel, it says
-
in fort Export the Detree. The apostles testified powerfully to
-
the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God's great blessing
-
was upon them all. How many of you believe that
-
God's blessings are in your life? Yeah, wherever you go,
-
as long as you as you know that God is
-
with you. He blesses his people. Yeah, He blessed this
-
the promise that he gave to Abraham. And you know,
-
you know that we're all the descendants of Abraham. If
-
you talk about Abraham is our great great great great grandfather. Yeah,
-
and we've got to declare that over our lives, his
-
blessings is upon our life. Now. Purpose is the power
-
of power in the engine of life. Purpose assures us
-
that the steering will is connected to the engine. Yeah,
-
going to repeat that, purpose is the power in the
-
engine of life. Purpose assures us that the steering will
-
is connected to the engine. If you think about anyone
-
around you that have lost purpose, you lose the old
-
hope of life. You lose the reason of why I
-
need to wake up the next day because I don't
-
have a purpose. Okay, and let me remind you this.
-
Your purpose is not to earn a salary. Your purpose
-
is not to you know, make others happy. Yeah, but
-
there must be a deeper purpose. What if the person
-
that you're making you happy leaves you one day who
-
says no, I don't want to be your friend, then
-
what you lose your purpose or the job that you're
-
working so hard for day and night, and the company says, oh,
-
we have to shut down. So does it mean you
-
lose your purpose? So what is the purpose that it's
-
not going to change, It's going to remain and we
-
all know what is it. Our purpose is to walk
-
with God to glorify his name, because that never changes,
-
it is always the same. Amen. Yeah, when it's going
-
to read a code here it says without purpose, there
-
is emotion without email, So you're just walking. Have you
-
seen people walking zombies and you know, walking not knowing
-
where they're going, no emotion. There is activity without accomplishment.
-
So you can sometimes go through your every day. You
-
can do your routine, wake up in the morning, brush
-
your teeth, eat your breakfast, go to work. But am
-
I really accomplishing anything? Do I feel fulfilled? Am I
-
answering the call of God? Yeah, so there's no accomplishment.
-
There is efficiency without effectiveness. So I can still take
-
my checklist, I can still get things done right, but
-
is it effective? Is it for a bigger purpose in life? Yeah?
-
It all goes back to our purpose, our purpose. So
-
when we speak about the early disciples from the Book
-
of X, they had a laser like focus on their
-
purpose and that is why they could experience the power
-
of God, or we call it the dynamite power. Yeah,
-
was it difficult at that point? Definitely? When you read
-
the scriptures, you know, when you study and understand it,
-
you will see that they went through oppositions like anyone. Yeah,
-
people were against them, they were throwing them into prison.
-
But yet you know, we know the story about them
-
in prison, and the people prayed together and the angels
-
came and set them free. That was the kind of
-
power that they were holding on to. Right, That was
-
the kind of prayers that they see. And that is
-
why it was so contagious that others saw these things happening,
-
and people wanted to seek. They were seeking for answers,
-
and they're saying, I want to know the same God, right,
-
because the power of God was just so evident and
-
the same thing. If you can think about our lives, right,
-
can someone say that I can see the power of
-
God in your life? Yeah? Meaning we are walking testimonies.
-
Your old friend sees you after a long time and
-
they say, I thought you were a failure, but look
-
at you today, such a transformed person. Right, And I'm
-
not talking about the earthly success, yeah, but I'm talking
-
about the person that you become full of boldness, full
-
of courage, and that kind of courage can only come
-
from God. Yeah. No, motivator speaker, you can pay thousands,
-
bring it to that will get you there, could be
-
very temporary, but only God can give you such boldness.
-
Talk about Moses. This guy fleed and took refuge to
-
a place where you didn't want to face anyone. He
-
gave up right and just tending his flock, and then
-
God met him where he was and do you know
-
what happened after that? Yeah, And one of my friends
-
reminded me of this thing about Moses. Do you know
-
that most was that one person that you know, the
-
enemy tried to change his life, you know, in a
-
way where okay, if they wanted to kill all Hebrew
-
babies at that point, you know, he was supposed to die,
-
but his mother kept him in a basket. You all
-
know the story, right, And somehow we ended in the
-
palace among the royals, and you know that is why
-
he was able to read and write. Okay, at that
-
time it was not as like as how common it
-
is now. Everyone goes to school, you know, in those
-
kind of communities. Only if you're from the royal lineage,
-
you have the privilege then you get education. Yeah, and
-
so Moses was one of them who was from the
-
Hebrew descendants. You know, he could have been growing up
-
in that community, but you wouldn't have been able to read,
-
learn and be educated. But somehow he landed in the palace.
-
He got the best education. I'm sure the best teachers
-
at that time, and he got so educated, you know,
-
for what, because he was the one who wrote all
-
the other books in the Bible, the ones from Genesis. Yeah,
-
and so can you see how God uses this one
-
person that the enemy tried to change his story? But
-
because God is more powerful, God's plan and purpose no
-
one can change that. Turn the person next to you
-
and tell them, no one can change God's purpose in
-
your life. Yeah, not even your own mistakes. If you
-
can come back to him, he can turn things around. Yeah.
-
And so what the enemy taught is a mistake.
-
You know.
-
Moses, he was the one that gave us a reason
-
why God chose to write these scriptures that we have today. Yeah,
-
he was one of the few ones who could write.
-
And then God chose him again to free his people.
-
Look at a plot, twist of the character, and the
-
same thing can happen in our lives as well. If
-
we can recognize the power of God in our lives.
-
So can I encourage your church to not underestimate the
-
work of God. If you're believing for a healing, keep
-
believing it until the end, don't give up. Yeah, if
-
you're believing for salvation, even for the most difficult person
-
in your family, Keep praying, keep pressing on. Yeah, if
-
you're going through a tough time, you're saying, God, I
-
need a breakthrough, keep believing it. Do not give up.
-
Do not give up, because in the measure of our faith,
-
it'll be done unto you. Yeah, the moment you say
-
if the moment you give doubt the room, that's when
-
you're not seeing the work of God. It's like you're blind.
-
You're getting blinded with what if, the doubts, the problems.
-
But if you can just be open and say God, whatever,
-
could you do it? I just surrendered you. God can
-
change things a man, He can move mountains ways in
-
things that we can't imagine or expect. God is able
-
to do it. But we just got to press on.
-
I know it's not easy sometimes, but just keep pressing on. Amen. Yeah.
-
So when we just even look at how they experienced
-
the power of God, they were able to bring that
-
to others. Yeah, and the power was so evident by
-
them finding strength in their differences. You know, they were
-
so different, they were so diverse, but because they could
-
come together and pray, because they could come together and
-
meet and build the church even in that they saw
-
God moving because God, God is a God who who
-
sees our obedient heart. And if we can see that, Okay,
-
these people, though you're so different, do your different opinions,
-
though it's hard for you, and you're still coming together,
-
then I want to do some thing for your church.
-
I want to honor that. I am going to answer
-
your prayers because you're obedient to me first, and God
-
honored that as well. Yeah, there were diversity in opinions gifts,
-
but somehow they found ways to come back together and
-
experience the power of God. So if we can just
-
think about our church and the differences that we are in,
-
let's not just get so fixated to oh we're different,
-
I don't agree with this, I can't do this or that.
-
Can we focus on experiencing God first? Yeah, the power
-
of God? Because if I can, I can confidently say
-
that if all of us, not just saying extra us,
-
but all of ex church, if we can all have
-
our quiet time built right, if you can walk in
-
the spirit right, if we can build our faith, can
-
you imagine what's going to happen to that? To our church.
-
It's going to be added. People are going to come
-
because you know, when someone's and pray, you don't just
-
say a prayer, but you say a powerful prayer, a
-
prayer of faith, a prayer of declaration. And anyone who
-
comes in who is looking for that healing, they will
-
be healed. Yeah, and so it's about hers catching it first,
-
the unity in spirit and the unity in power because
-
in this room, in fact, if God is moving and
-
he's saying, yes, I want to touch, I want to minister,
-
But if there's doubts here, how is it going to happen?
-
Just being real? Yeah, as a speaker, if God tells me,
-
can you prophesy? And if I'm going to say what
-
if they don't say no, then I'm stopping that from happening.
-
So can you understand that it is about your response.
-
It goes back to the power of one respond that
-
impacts everything else. Yeah, So when God speaks, don't be littiled,
-
don't just push it away. There's the reason why he
-
does such things. Yeah, the power of God. Unity exists
-
in the midst of diversity because we follow one same God. Amen. Yeah,
-
So I'm praying and believing that we'll all have that encounter. Yeah,
-
don't just write on and say Yes, my God can
-
heal because you healed that person. But can I say
-
that my God can heal because I've experienced it in
-
my life? Right, I've experienced that breakthrough? Ask God? You know,
-
if you feel that you're just your your faith journey
-
has been just same old, same old, nothing sparkly, then
-
it's time to go down on your knees, right, because
-
if not, we're all going to feel I mean, in
-
anything at all, you will lose the reason of why
-
we do things. So let your faith journey be exciting.
-
It has to be exciting, right, It has to be.
-
You have to always feel fire to it like any
-
other relationship. Right, Your relationship with God has to build
-
and become even stronger. Amen. So can we believe that
-
each one of us who have testimonies to share yeahp
-
in the coming weeks before the year ends. Whether it's
-
your personal life or the people around you or your
-
work you're seeing you wanting changed to happen, it can
-
happen if only you believe in the power of God.
-
All right Now, The third thing that we can learn
-
from this Book of ax here is that because they
-
has unity, because they could experience God's power and they
-
shared it to others. They discovered the favor of God. Yeah,
-
they discovered the favor of God. Going back to this
-
scripture here in chapter four was the retreat, and with
-
great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of
-
the law Jesus. And great grace was upon them all.
-
It was not a matter of how well they could speak, yeah,
-
or how influential. Some people didn't even like them, you know.
-
That's they were opposed in many ways, right, But yet
-
they found such favor because what the word of God
-
tells us. Yeah, great grace was upon all of them.
-
How many of you know that you have God's favor
-
in your life. Yeah, And you've got to mean it,
-
meaning when you have a conversation, wherever you go, you've
-
got to go with the confidence that God is with me.
-
His favor is upon me. Doors that seems to be,
-
you know, close for a long time, he can open it.
-
People that you find so hard to speak to, he
-
can soften the grounds. Yeah, that is how God works.
-
I have seen reconciliation happening in the midst of no
-
different ones. I've journeyed with tough relationships. God makes things happen. Yeah,
-
it's only the matter of whether we can recognize the
-
favor of God. You know, when we speak about grace,
-
grace means unmerited love of favor. And they would and
-
because they would, because God is a generous god. Yeah,
-
and he freely gives. And when you see this book
-
of Acts, the people, you know, their hearts broke over
-
the same things that broke the heart of God. That
-
is why they were so after God's heart. You know,
-
they were against sin. They were all in the business
-
of saving souls, reaching out for the laws, you know,
-
so their heart just broke for that, for whatever broke
-
God's heart. And that is why they were just so soft.
-
You know, if you if you think about times when
-
you were broken. Okay, I'm not talking about no Monea
-
broke as in you go through different trials in life.
-
Somehow it makes you softer because you've gone through the bellies. Yeah,
-
you've gone through different things, and you're coming to a
-
place of surrender. God, I surrender. Someone can only surrender
-
when you when you give up, right, you give up
-
and you say God, I have no other way, only
-
your way. Right. And because they were just so broken
-
in that sense where they could see the needs. You know,
-
for those who came for the missions conference, the first
-
speaker was sharing about you know, she has a prayer
-
mat that she goes and pray on all the time,
-
and most days it's filled with tears because she just
-
cries over the injustice that she sees around us, how
-
people are oppressed. You know, young girls who are you know, mistreated.
-
So the things that she sees, it just breaks the
-
heart because these are just not right, and she keeps praying.
-
And that is what we mean by broken. You know,
-
the things around us. When you hear a bad story,
-
something bad happens to someone, how do you feel about it?
-
Does it make you want to just pray more, make
-
you want to do something? In fact, you talk to
-
any other missionaries or people even do social work. There
-
what drives them is because they just can't stand injustice.
-
They just can't stand when bad things happen, and therefore
-
they just want to work harder. Right, They're just broken
-
in that way, and because there was such softness, God
-
could actually work in them and they could see God's favor.
-
They were just so aligned, so connected to the ways
-
of God, that they could actually see that God is
-
actually using me God is actually moving. So if you
-
want to experience God's blessings, we first need to be
-
very obedient to His purpose, both as individuals as a church,
-
because it goes together. As long as you belong to
-
a church, you are belonging to the covering, you know,
-
to the word that God gives you. So can we
-
be obedient to that as well? Right, answering the call
-
of God. Answering the call of God. Amen. So let's
-
let's walk in the favor of God. Because you know,
-
when when you know God's favor is with you, you
-
will walk with more confidence. You'll walk with more boldness.
-
You know, you won't just walk around feeling defeated. You know,
-
if you go in and face your your classroom and
-
you have a difficult lecturer who is always saying no
-
to you, and you say no, I'm a child of God.
-
God's favor is with me. I'm doing what is right.
-
So nothing should come, no harm should come near me.
-
And you go and you'll see the way she speaks
-
to you is different. Yeah, the favor of God is
-
with us. Amen. And the last point that we can
-
learn from your from this book of Axia is that
-
what these people did Okay, the apostles and the church,
-
they actually answered the prayer of God, all right, or
-
they answered the prayer of Jesus himself, because you know
-
what Jesus prayed. Let's look at John chapter seventeen. See
-
there's distractions that can smell the food already. Okay, John
-
chapter seventeen, Versus twenty. Let's take some time and look
-
at what is the heart of Jesus for us. Okay,
-
it says here are you all there? Yeah? John Chapter seventeen,
-
verses twenty. I do not pray for this alone, but
-
also for those who will believe in me through their word,
-
that they may be one, as you, Father are in me,
-
and I in you, that they also may be one
-
in us, that the world may believe that you sent me,
-
and the glory which you gave me, I have given them,
-
that they may be one just as we are one,
-
I in them and you in me, that they may
-
be made perfect in one, and that the world may
-
know that you have sent me and have loved them
-
as you have loved me. Verse twenty four. Father, I
-
desire that they, also, whom you gave me, may be
-
with me where I am, that they may behold my
-
glory which you have given me, for you loved me
-
before the foundation of the world, or Righteous Father, the
-
world has not known you, but I have known you,
-
and this have known that, and this have known that
-
you sent me. And I have declared to them your name,
-
and will declare it that the love with which you
-
loved me may be in them and I in them. Amen.
-
What does this scripture tell you? What do you think
-
Jesus was praying for for unity, that we be one?
-
Because he says, you and I Father, right, we are one,
-
and so when we are one, then the world will
-
know who we are. And in fact, this was the prayer.
-
If you look at chapter eighteen, you know what happens
-
after that, the whole betrayal of Judah, right, and then
-
we know the story about the cross, So meaning this
-
was one of his final prayers. His prayer was not God,
-
just bless them, protect them. Yeah, I'll give them all
-
the riches. We didn't say those prayers, but he prayed
-
that will be one. So can you see how that
-
is in the heartbeat of God himself? And then I'll
-
wonder that how much it breaks his heart when we
-
see sometimes, even as believers, when we can't be one
-
when we can't agree with the same thing, or we
-
can sometimes miss out the purpose because we're so caught
-
up with so many other things. Yeah, be one, and
-
that is why we see this reflected in the Book
-
of Acts. They could experience the power of God, they
-
could experience people being added into the church because they
-
were one. Though it was not easy, but they did
-
it anyway. Yeah, they did it anyway. How does this
-
sinking into your hearts? Because we can be one church
-
a lot of people, but ultimately, it's that one choice
-
that I can make as an individual that contributes to
-
the oneness. So it goes back to the way I
-
look at my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Do
-
I see them as different? Can I still respect them
-
for their differences? Can I still love them beyond the
-
flaws that we see with human eyes? Right? Can we
-
focus on that one purpose? Because what I do as
-
a person, or what all of us do as one person,
-
is what brings this oneness. The moment one person is
-
out in your own side track, right, then the one
-
is cannot achieve. It's when everyone does it together. Yeah,
-
everyone does it together. We are one body of Christ. Yeah,
-
So let's not just ignore this prayer or the heart beat.
-
I would say the heartbeat of Jesus, because most of
-
the time when you pray for something or when you're
-
leaving for an important mission, like yesays Right, he had
-
an important mission, and I'm sure he was in fear
-
and trembling, he was all human at the same time
-
to go through that, but he could still mention something
-
that was so important, which is a message that we
-
need to carry on until today. Yeah, So can we
-
safeguard this oneness? Right? Can be safe? God? This one
-
is Sometimes the oness is all about what happens in
-
the family as parents, How we build that within our kids,
-
what happens within our homes? Right, we meet in different homes,
-
we meet with different people. How can we keep that oneness?
-
How can we keep that within now o' dream teams.
-
We're all serving in different ministries, right, we are all
-
doing different roles, playing music, doing the projection, the sound.
-
But ultimately we all need to come back to that oneness. Yeah,
-
let's keep reminding our team members. Let's keep reminding those
-
you're journeying with discipleship to not be distracted too much,
-
but to say, hey, come back. Maybe you've been too
-
far away, Come back and be one. Yeah, be one.
-
I pray that we'll always be a church. That Love's
-
love should always be our priority, because that's what He
-
told us to do, to love one another and to
-
always be looking out for others. You know, the moment
-
we start stop looking out for people, then I think
-
we miss out the point of life. Because when we
-
think about just myself, my family, my needs never ends.
-
There's always going to be things to be done right.
-
But if I can only care for another person, if
-
I can only love another person with the means that
-
I have, it goes a long way. Yeah, it goes
-
a long way. If unity creates belief, then disunity fosters disbelief.
-
Like I said, if we all have the same values
-
and if you bring them that out, we're going to
-
attract people to Christ. But if we're all going to
-
be doing our own thing out there own agenda, then
-
people are going to start doubting. Is this the way
-
of God? Is this what the church teaches? Is this
-
what the Word of God is about? It creates disbelief.
-
How can the world come to believe the gospel if
-
those who are already believing it, doubting it. Yeah, don't
-
talk about the gospel if you don't believe the word
-
of God.
-
Yet.
-
You've got to fully be convinced. You've got to fully
-
desire the power of God. You've got to fully say God,
-
I'm all in. I'm not just putting one link in
-
and testing the waters. Who walked on water? We had
-
he did? He, you know, put one link and try
-
he did. He tried to stumble, but it's only when
-
he put two feets he could walk on water. And
-
you know what, it made it better because Jesus was there. Yeah,
-
Jesus was there.
