  1. You're listening to a message to go from AX Church.

  2. We hope this message will light up your tea.

  3. Today. We're going to look into John twenty one. The

  4. book of John twenty one is probably the last chapter,

  5. Thank you x TV, and we're going to read that.

  6. How many have you excited to read the Bible? All right,

  7. let's read that together. It's a lot of reading today.

  8. I hope you're excited. Some of you might be your

  9. first time reading it this week, hopefully not, but let's

  10. read it. John twenty one, verse one two four. First,

  11. after these things, Jesus showed himself again to the disciples

  12. at the sea of Tiberius. And in this way he

  13. showed himself. Simon Peter Thomas, called the twin Nataniel of

  14. Kina and Galilei, the sons of Zebedee, and two others

  15. of his disciples were together, and Simon Peter said to them,

  16. I'm going fishing, And they said to him, we are

  17. going with you also. And they went out immediately got

  18. into the boat, and that night they caught nothing. But

  19. then the morning had now come, and Jesus stood on

  20. the shore. Yet his disciples did not know it was Jesus.

  21. Next first. Then as they as soon as they had

  22. come to land, they saw a fire of coals there,

  23. and they fish laid on it and bread, and Jesus

  24. said to them, bring some of the fish which you

  25. have caught. And Simon Peter went up and dragged the

  26. net to the land full of fish one hundred and

  27. fifty three. And although there were so many, the net

  28. was not broken. And Jesus said to him, or said

  29. to them, come and eat breakfast. Yet none of the

  30. disciples they asked, who are you, knowing it was the Lord.

  31. And Jesus came and took the bread and gave to them,

  32. and likewise the fish. And this is now the third

  33. time that Jesus showed himself to the disciples after he

  34. was raised from the dead. Right, that's nine verse fourteen.

  35. There I want to talk to you about Jesus showing

  36. up in our lives. How many of you you're praying

  37. God show up anyone here like you're in this place

  38. and you're thinking, like, Jesus, are you there, Jesus, are

  39. you alive? I mean, I'm here to tell you that

  40. Jesus life, God is real. If you don't know Jesus yet,

  41. he is the God who died and rose again for us.

  42. And I'm here to introduce you to a God that's

  43. not just hanging on the cross or god that's in

  44. the past, but a God that journeys with us and

  45. when we are trusting him, when we were going through

  46. not just the highs but the loss as well. Peter

  47. is this guy who followed Jesus. This year we're talking

  48. about what's the theme for this year. Disciple first, right,

  49. we're talking about disciple shape. And I thought like, hey,

  50. Peter is this guy who followed Jesus really closely. And

  51. when Jesus was crucified. Guess what happened? Peter? How do

  52. you think? What did Peter do when Jesus was crucified?

  53. What what happened? What's the first thing you remember? What Peter? Anyway,

  54. he he was afraid. What else did he do? He

  55. denied Jesus three times and then before the fried chicken crows,

  56. Now thanks, yeah, but before I think Jesus said before

  57. you before the crows, before the chicken crows, right, yeah,

  58. before you hear that the crow three times? Right, like

  59. like you hear that you would deny me? And Peter

  60. was this guy who's like Jesus, I will follow you

  61. to the ends, right, I would die for you. And

  62. Jesus say is no, you would deny me. And it

  63. happened before the cock crows. Three times you would deny me,

  64. and he was He wept bitterly, and Jesus was crucified.

  65. I'm giving you a context that this is after he crucified.

  66. And he says, yeah, that he appeared three times to

  67. his disciples, then this is the time that he's appearing.

  68. And Peter was in a place of discouragement. So I

  69. want to bring you this thought that, hey, in our

  70. journeyway Jesus, we can be disappointed, we can be discouraged. Peter,

  71. the disciples, the people who are closest to Jesus even

  72. felt like, you know what, where is Jesus? I thought

  73. I trusted him? And Peter did the very thing that

  74. most of us do in our discouragement. Go back to

  75. doing what we used to do. It's our habits that

  76. we But I want you to just take. If you're

  77. a pen and paper, take note that number one. Jesus

  78. will show up. That's my first point. He will show up.

  79. Because you read the first verse again, it says after

  80. these things Jesus showed himself again to the disciples, and

  81. in this way. He showed himself in this way. So

  82. sometimes we expect Jesus to come and show up in

  83. a way that we think is best. But Jesus shows

  84. up in ways that sometimes we don't expect, not the

  85. way that we expect. When we were in I'm going

  86. to share with you that when we were in London,

  87. we were visiting Pastor Dave and cant while coordinators there.

  88. This is many years ago, like twenty sixteen, twenty seventeen.

  89. You're visiting the and then they said like, hey, go

  90. around the town. And then we were trying to get Uber.

  91. So this was twenty seventeen trying to get Uber. So

  92. the first time we got to Uber and we went around,

  93. we were like yay, we took the train, we took

  94. the Uber. And the first Uber that we got on

  95. the this one was what cow was it? Some merce

  96. cities right, normal price but it's not even premium. Suddenly

  97. what showed up with this Mercedes band. So we went

  98. like wow, for like four pounds we get a mercy.

  99. This bends right right. Maybe it's just as we never

  100. said there in that cause we're like, wow, this luxury

  101. vehicle for just four pounds, unbelievable. And we went around town,

  102. we took some photos. Then we were realizing, oh, no,

  103. the time is We agreed with Bussy Dave and Buzscanda

  104. we're going to meet them for dinner. We're gonna be late.

  105. So we're trying the Uber again. And then there was

  106. only two options standard it and premium, and the price

  107. was the same at that point, so we were like,

  108. no brainer, right. You see premium, you see XL and

  109. next to the premium it says Excel, right, so we're

  110. thinking like wow, who we didn't want premium Excel right.

  111. I was thinking some hummer is gonna pull up, right,

  112. So we had Nandelias told me, she said, you know what,

  113. let's just go for this XL. We need a space,

  114. and so we ordered it and we were like waiting

  115. and waiting and then it says approaching, approaching, and this

  116. is what showed up. Right. So this Excel car that

  117. showed up and it was for special needs and the

  118. first thing the driver got down and said like, so,

  119. where's your wheelchair? And we were like, uh, we don't

  120. have a wheelchair. Day said no, you asked for XL.

  121. You asked for special assistance and we were like, uh,

  122. and that that we realize that, you know what, We're

  123. just gonna jump into this car because we're going to

  124. be late anyway. And here's where I want you to

  125. know that we got to the dinner in in time.

  126. So I want you to know that help did come.

  127. Help will come in ways that you don't expect. It

  128. did come. We told bus the day and we didn't

  129. know how this thing works here. We didn't know, but

  130. I said, thank God that He's sent us special assistance anyway,

  131. because we made it in time. We made it in time,

  132. and I'm here to share with you that you know what.

  133. God shows up in ways sometimes you never expect. Don't

  134. forsake and say like, Lord, are you here? It's okay

  135. to ask God, Lord, are you here? Because God will

  136. show up. He's asking us today is will you be present?

  137. Are you seeking me? So number one know that you

  138. know what He will show us, won't you hold on?

  139. Psalm thirty verse five, It says his anger is but

  140. for a moment, his favorite is for life, weeping met

  141. in deal fornight, but what joy comes in the morning.

  142. I'm here to tell you that there are people here.

  143. I prayed about this over the weeks, and God is

  144. saying that the two groups of people that he wants

  145. to minister to, especially in this season, one is people

  146. who are tired. Maybe it's a long weekend this weekend. Yes,

  147. Medeka especially may be are tired. Maybe you've been serving

  148. and you feel like God, won't you just show up

  149. like that? Yes, you feel like God, I just show up.

  150. I just need to hear from you. Or maybe there's

  151. a second group. There's one first w is you're weary.

  152. I can tell you is maybe you've walked away from Jesus,

  153. and I'm here to tell you that you know what

  154. Jesus wants is walking towards you. He's at the shore,

  155. He's like at this breakfast. He's like, hey, guys, children,

  156. do you have any food? They're like nothing, nothing. You

  157. feel like you're empty. And God is saying, you know what,

  158. maybe you walked away from me, but I'm still here

  159. here I am. And maybe you felt like I angered

  160. God by what I did and I'm just speaking to

  161. I'll be real like, maybe you felt like you told God,

  162. are you You did some things in your life, your

  163. personal life that you felt like I didn't make him smile.

  164. I disappointed God. And what does God's words say here?

  165. His anger is but for a moment, but what his

  166. favorite is for life? So he's God angry with you. No,

  167. I'm here tell you call is not agree with you.

  168. His favor is with you, weeping mate, and your for night,

  169. maybe yesterday some of you I don't know who are you.

  170. Maybe you're crying yesterday, or you're weeping, you're thinking about

  171. something that you're discouraged. It might go true for night.

  172. But His joy is here this morning. And God wants

  173. to you know that, you know what. There's a newness

  174. that's coming upon here. If you would just show up

  175. as well. God is here Moses. Let's read Eutronomy thirty

  176. one and says Moses called Joshua and said to them,

  177. in the side of all Israel, be what strong enough

  178. good courage? For you must go with this people to

  179. the land which the Lord has sworn to his father's

  180. to give them, and you shall cause them to inherit it.

  181. And the Lord, he is one who goes before you.

  182. He will be with you. He will not leave you,

  183. nor forsake you. And do not fear nor be this mate.

  184. God is with us. One Peter five US seven, six

  185. and seven says, humble yourselves in a mighty hand of

  186. the Lord, that he may exalt you. A lot of

  187. times we sing we will exalt Jesus. Right he I'm

  188. going to tell you that you know what. Jesus wants

  189. to lift you up as well, from your discouragement, from

  190. your pain, from your the place of like despair. You're thinking,

  191. like I want to give up. Maybe he walked away.

  192. God is saying I will lift you up, but you

  193. need to humble yourself and ask for help. Humility is

  194. saying I don't have it together. Jesus, honey, how And

  195. then he will say, you know what, I'm gonna lift

  196. you up, casting all your care upon him, for he cares.

  197. And so someone here you're asking God, do you even

  198. care today's coming? Like I care? I'm here? Would you

  199. believe me? Matthew twenty eight one more verse yere says,

  200. go therefore, favorite risks for this year. Go therefore make

  201. disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of

  202. the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

  203. teaching them to observe all things that have commanded to

  204. you and what lo I am with you always even

  205. to the end of the age. Amen. Today, I thought

  206. we'll talk about that word low because you think, hello,

  207. I say, I have a friend named Albert Low. But

  208. this is not that low. Okay, maybe if a friend

  209. named low, low means what two behold, low means to behold.

  210. So I give you more contexts read. This is what

  211. the concordance is That low means you're bidding the reader

  212. or hearer to attend to what said to behold to see.

  213. And it it's used, it's inserted in the discourse after

  214. a genitive absolutely, meaning you're saying it's inviting the readers

  215. to pay attention. Meaning every time you read the Bible

  216. it says behold is saying hey, pay attention. But not

  217. just that. Every time it is used, it's saying, you

  218. know what, that's absolutely what's absolutely means one hundred percent.

  219. In Australia, when we ask someone like hey, let's see

  220. you ask them a question. I'm like, hey, do you

  221. love Durian? They go like one hundred percent. They don't

  222. even use yes, they use one hundred percent. I'm like, uh,

  223. do you love tennis? One hundred percent. So when you

  224. see the word behold, and he says behold, I'm with you.

  225. Jesus is saying one hundred percent. I'm with you one

  226. hundred percent. I'm going to journey with you. If you say, God,

  227. I want to pay attention to you. To God is saying,

  228. I'm going to show up. I'm here. Won't you behold?

  229. Won't you pay attention? Won't you give me one hundred percent?

  230. Because I'm going to show you where the fish. I'm

  231. going to show you where the favor is. That's God.

  232. And so I'm here to tell you that number one,

  233. like I said, he is here. He will show up.

  234. Let's pay attention. And in our journey with Jesus, we

  235. can feel lost. Let's be real, we can feel lost.

  236. But Jesus is here too so that we can be found.

  237. He finds us, even the disciples, and he is with us.

  238. So tell your tell your neighbor. Lo, he's with us.

  239. That's number one. Number two is here his voice. Here

  240. is voice. Read John twenty one forty eight that says

  241. he said to them castanet on the right side of

  242. the boat. If the disciples didn't hear Jesus, they were

  243. just throw the net right. You don't know where, but

  244. he says, cast a net on the right side of

  245. the boat and you'll find some. And then you read

  246. that verse in verse seven, it says the disciple whom

  247. Jesus loves said to Peter, it is the Lord. And

  248. now when Simon Peter heard it was the Lord, he

  249. put on his outer gumen, which he removed, and he

  250. jumped tow hist Jesus. That's that's something that we need

  251. to capture. Is God does speak. How do you think

  252. he speaks? Anyone here? You're praying that God speak to me.

  253. I'm here tell you that God usually speaks. I haven't

  254. heard God uppere. I know you watch some Lion King

  255. and some Narnia appears a lion in the sky. I

  256. love Walt Disney. I love that I used to work

  257. with the TV industry, so whenever I read the Bible,

  258. my brain goes into movie mode. That's why I'll give

  259. you a glimpse of Like where I used to work

  260. before joining full time is I was working with a

  261. TV channel called Channel V, so they produce mtvs. I

  262. don't think they do now they do a lot of

  263. and I used to be editing. I used to be

  264. writing scripts for the advertence for the ads, and I'll

  265. be watching TV the whole day. Right, this is what

  266. I do. It's part of my life. It's like knowing

  267. what's out there, what's on media and stuff like that,

  268. and so it plays my head and I always ask God,

  269. God speak to me. And the funny thing is He

  270. didn't speak to me treat a TV. But it gives

  271. me images, gives me dreams. He gives me visions sometimes

  272. in my head and go like wow. But it doesn't

  273. happen all the time, always of the time. You know

  274. how God speaks. It's a simple text. This is the

  275. word of God. So if you want to know where

  276. God is leading us, you have to know his word.

  277. In our relationship. I know when Dylan, now, when we

  278. were dating, she was in Adelaide. This was like I know,

  279. many years ago. Uh, don't reveal our age, bringers cross. Okay,

  280. So we were she was in Adelaide and she was

  281. working then, and we were doing long distance. I wouldn't

  282. recommend it to everybody. Uh, and we're doing long distance,

  283. and we were great at doing long distance actually because

  284. we just leave we just talk a bit the phone

  285. out and then she's like, are you in a traffic

  286. jam in Kassas. I'm like, yeah, how do you know?

  287. I said, I can tell from your voice. I'm like, okay,

  288. how did she know? Right? How did you know I'm

  289. on this traffic jam in Kassas? And maybe habits Maybe

  290. we've been on the phone so long that you know where,

  291. you know where you're at. And that's how it is

  292. with the word of God as well, that when you

  293. spend time with God, you know what he's leading you to.

  294. So much so that when we did long distance, we

  295. were great at long distance. When Dealer came back, she

  296. came to Malaysia and she says like, hey, let's work

  297. on this towards marriage. And we were in the car

  298. and we're having this conversation and then she looked at

  299. me and she's like, do you mean that for real?

  300. I can't tell? Can you call me on? So I

  301. had to call her to convince her because she said,

  302. I'm not used to your face. I'm used to your

  303. voice because I can't tell from your face. But when

  304. I hear your voice, I know the tone and I

  305. know if you're serious or not. On your face, you

  306. look like you're kidding, you know. So she told me that,

  307. I'm like, okay, you know what, call right, Hi did,

  308. I'm not kidding. I really mean this is okay, all right?

  309. And that's how it is. Sometimes. I'm here to tell

  310. you that we may not see God's face, but you

  311. know his word. His word will lead us. His word

  312. is a lamb onto our feed, a lot onto our

  313. path read Psalms one hundred and nineteen. That word will

  314. just lead us. I'm here to tell you that, hey,

  315. you know what, sometimes we don't see God moving, but

  316. you know his word, and his word will lead us.

  317. The blind man Luke eighteen, there was a story of

  318. a blind man. I'm here to give you that example

  319. that even a blind can no and get perspective. It

  320. says here Luke eighteen, that there was this blind man.

  321. I'll give you this quick scenario. The blind man was

  322. asking the people around, like, hey, what's happening? And then

  323. they say, Jesus of Nazareth right here a multitude. He says,

  324. what's happening, Jesus Nazareth is coming, and he cried out, Jesus,

  325. son of David, have mercy on me. So the people

  326. told him Jesus of Nazareth. What did the blind men

  327. call out Jesus son of David. Something we can learn

  328. maybe for today is don't let your place or position

  329. define your purpose. Don't let a place our position define

  330. your purpose. The blind man knew that, you know what,

  331. this person named Jesus is not from Nazareth or from

  332. name me a place. It's not like where you're from,

  333. j right, So it's not like Nick from Joor, right

  334. or anyone else. Name my hometown Nigeria, and your your

  335. name Moses from Nigeria. So it's not like go to

  336. Moses from Nigeria. Right. Nigeria is a great place, but

  337. it's doesn't define him. It's Moses, who God has called

  338. that name, Moses, that that calling that comes from God.

  339. So your identity is not found in your place. Your

  340. identity is found in who called you. And so he says,

  341. Jesus son of David, who was David King David, you're

  342. in a bit more Bible study. After David killed Goliath,

  343. guess what saw us? Saul asked who is this guy?

  344. And they said, this is Simon. This is David son

  345. of Jesse, so the person that conquered Goliath. And then

  346. they were like, oh, who's this guy? Who's this little

  347. guy who killed Goliath? And he says like, oh, I'm

  348. just the son of Jesse. It's the person that you're

  349. related to. I'm here to tell you that the blind

  350. man knew. It's not Nazareth that defines Jesus. It's a

  351. calling that God has upon his life, that miracle. So

  352. if you're here, you're saying like, you know what, I

  353. have a condition. The doctors can give you a condition,

  354. you say, a diagnosis. You go like, okay, this is

  355. this is bad news. But who am I. I'm a

  356. child of God. So I'm gonna journey with this. And

  357. God is there the journey with us. He's there to travel,

  358. to go with our ends and our outs, because He

  359. will never leave us nor for sake us. Remember lo,

  360. I am with you one hundred percent, so know that

  361. his word will lead us. What are some benefits I'm

  362. going to give you some benefits of hearing the word

  363. of God. Is it's not just positive encouragement. Some of

  364. you you get text right like your WhatsApp size percent

  365. daily benefits. Good morning, the Lord bless you. Make his

  366. face shine upon you, lift up his confidence, and give

  367. your peace a great word, but not just that. If

  368. you take that benediction and you walk in that power,

  369. you encounter God, the Lord bless you, make his face

  370. shine a pony, lift up his countenance towards you, and

  371. give you peace. Some of us we are going out,

  372. you're thinking like, oh, I can't face my boss today,

  373. I can't face this person at work. Lord, give me

  374. that peace with the busses all understanding. So I'm going

  375. to tell you to use his word because it takes

  376. you from the natural into a supernatural. Takes us from

  377. just being a good text to you know what a

  378. god text from us? Amen? What else? It helps get

  379. faith in and fear out. Some of you need to

  380. get fear out all of us who face discouragement. What

  381. Peter needed is to get faith out, get He needed

  382. to put on faith again and go and meet Jesus.

  383. That's something that we should think about, like, ask God, Lord,

  384. help me in my unbelief. Maybe that's someone here. Lord,

  385. I believe you, but help my unbelief. That's that's what

  386. he gives you wisdom as well. Matthew seven twenty four

  387. to twenty seven says you'll be like a wise man

  388. who builds his house on a rock, the winds, the

  389. rains descended, the floods came, and the winds blew, and

  390. it did not fall. The same thing happens to all

  391. of us, non Christians and Christians. We face rain, we

  392. face storms, face the winds. But what's the difference is

  393. if you baze and you build your life on Jesus

  394. the rock, then you won't fall. So all of this

  395. goes through storms. I'm here to tell you put your

  396. faith in him. It gives you fruitfulness. Who wants to

  397. be fruitful and productive? Read Matthew thirteen, verse twenty two,

  398. two twenty three says, even as you put, you receive

  399. that seed on good ground. And here's the word, and

  400. understand it. You bear fruit and produce. So some of

  401. you you're praying like, Lord, I want to receive that bonus.

  402. I don't know who is that. Maybe it's you, Lord.

  403. I want to receive an in creement. Lord. I want

  404. to go deeper, Lord, I want I'm in this boring

  405. place in my life. I don't want to experience you

  406. anyone here. Don't point to your neighbor, just go like Lord,

  407. that's me, Lord, I want to be fruitful. Take this

  408. word and go like, Lord, I'm holding onto his word. Lord,

  409. may I not just be here but a door lod.

  410. I want to obey. And so God wants you know

  411. that he's here to to give you that fish. And

  412. as we end, that's this story. John twenty one, verse

  413. ninety fourteen. This is how this story ends. That as

  414. soon as they came to land, they saw a fire

  415. of coals there and fish laid on it and bread,

  416. and Jesus said, bring me some of the fish you

  417. have just caught. And Simon Peter went up and dragged

  418. a net to the land full of large fish. How

  419. many fish? One hundred and fifty tree And although there

  420. were so many, the net was not broken. And Jesus said,

  421. come and eat breakfast. When I read this, I think

  422. I shed this in different plants as well. But when

  423. I read this, I went like, wow, this again. My

  424. brain goes into like one hundred and fifty three. Why

  425. cannot be one hundred and fifty four? Why does it?

  426. Why can't be just one hundred fish? Why one hundred

  427. and fifty three? And I was praying, I ask God, Lord,

  428. reveal your word for this time, for today, Because he

  429. says that God gives this daily bread. Right, And so

  430. when he led me to the concordance, and I looked

  431. up one hundred and fifty three in the concordance, I'm

  432. going to show it to you. Anyone knows Greek, try

  433. and print with me. Okay, is this word called he

  434. showed no money, which means what does it mean to

  435. feel shame or to be ashamed of? That word shame?

  436. The word disgrace there one hundred and fifty three means shame.

  437. Who do you think this was for? He asked Peter.

  438. Remember I told you Peter was dealing with what shame? Peter,

  439. who denied Jesus right before he was crucified, deny Jesus,

  440. and he wept bitterly, and he said, oh, I'm ashamed.

  441. And so Peter goes back and he goes back to

  442. fishing and catches nothing again. And Jesus saw them fishing,

  443. and he goes like, you know what, Peter, do you

  444. think that Jesus needed Peter's fish? Because when you read

  445. that again, he says, there was a fire coals there

  446. and fish laid on it already. So do you think

  447. Jesus needed fish to make breakfast? No? Do you think

  448. Jesus needs our money in the offering? No? Do you

  449. think Jesus needs all all talent? No? But we surrender

  450. it to him anyway, like the lad with five lows

  451. and two fish, because when we give our best to him,

  452. he multiplies it into basketsful. Right, there's no leftover. Everyone

  453. is fed. That's the Jesus that he knows that you

  454. know what. Someone here, Maybe you're like Peter, you're dealing

  455. with shame. Maybe you've walked away from God. He did

  456. something that you feel like, Jesus, you won't be happy,

  457. and I don't know where that I can come back

  458. to you. Today's the invitation, he says, like, you know what,

  459. just come back is come with all your fish because

  460. I'm going to help you deal with that shame. I'm

  461. going to give you confidence again. Some of you here,

  462. that's the thing that's stopping you is is you're lacking

  463. that confidence. Maybe you're confident before you knew that my

  464. God will never leave me nor forsake me. But maybe

  465. you forsake him. Maybe you did something that you felt like,

  466. I'm not proud of it, and Jesus is saying it's okay.

  467. Does his anger last forever. No, he's here to say that,

  468. come back, come back, come abide, come back to me.
