You're listening to a message to go from acts Church.
-
We hope this message will light up your day and disciples.
-
As disciples of Christ, we must be birthed right. And
-
being birthed right means we need to understand our salvation right.
-
You know, if you don't understand what it is all about,
-
we technically won't be born so right la because we
-
don't really understand what we're supposed to do, or we
-
don't really understand what does it mean for us. So
-
we have to be born right this time without any flaws,
-
you know. So for us to comprehend our salvation fully,
-
we have to understand. There's actually two parts in salvation.
-
Salvation is twofold our use the word twofold or two components.
-
And one is always use the word indicative, meaning what
-
God has done for us. And there's another part we
-
often sometimes don't really talk much about it. It's also
-
what we as believers are how to do. It's an
-
imperative part. Imperative mean that it is a command or
-
it is a responsibility that we are also supposed to do,
-
you know. So today I will try to cover both
-
parts of what does it mean? And we start off
-
with what God has done for us first, the indicative part. Okay,
-
so fast, so good, right, Okay, so you're gonna start off.
-
So the first thing that what God has done for
-
us is your salvation. Birds your identity it all. When
-
you are born again, your identity changes. Your identity is
-
transformed into a new identity. So that to understand you
-
read John chapter one, verse forty two. He says, yeah, Now,
-
when Jesus looked at him, he said, you are Simon,
-
the son of Jonah. You shall be called the called Siphas.
-
That's what it will say. Maybe in some translation it
-
would say you shall be called Peter. So Peter, the
-
Peter that we all know in the Bible. Before he
-
was called Peter, his real name was Simon, And I
-
don't know how you call it in Greek. Maybe it's
-
simone or whatever it is supposed to be. But Simon
-
in Greek it means the red. If you know what's
-
the read. Yeah, in in Basa it's the la lang, know,
-
the long grass that is wavering around, So it's a
-
read meaning it's just like a random grass at the
-
street kind of thing. So that was his name. I
-
have no idea why his parents named him that, you know,
-
I don't know. People will go around naming your child
-
the reed or lalang or grass or whatever. So so
-
I have no idea, you know, I have no idea
-
why they called him that. But that was his name.
-
That was his name, and his name was true to
-
his character, because if you read Peter's story throughout the
-
Bible in the beginning, you will see him behaving like
-
a read. And what I mean by a read is
-
that it's always wavering. It's always unstable, you know, like
-
a reed that is blown by a wind, or like
-
a lalang or a grass that is blown by a wind.
-
You will see it sway according to the leaf. It's
-
never steady, it's never strong, you know. He's just always
-
waving to where the wind blows him. You know, wind
-
blows wind kind of thing, you know. So, and he
-
was like that in his nature. He was an unstable person.
-
It was a hot head, you know. And you can
-
see throughout the Bible when you read and the things
-
that he has done, sometimes you feel like, are you serious?
-
Why why you want to say stuff like this? So
-
why you want to do stuff like this? You know,
-
he himself will go to the water. Then he gets
-
scared and then he drowns, and then you know, he
-
gets so angry he pulls out a knife and he
-
cuts someone's ear. You know, he says that no, Jesus,
-
I won't let you go. And then next moment you
-
see him denying Jesus three times and and I didn't
-
running away, you know, uh, And he's like, no, Jesus
-
won't let you die, and Jesus calls him, get behind me, Sytan,
-
and you know, it's just this guy is just full
-
of you know, it's pretty obvious it's an unstable guy,
-
you know, with how he stands, what he says and
-
and things like that. But what what Jesus do is
-
that it calls him. He said that you shall be
-
called fast and see fast, or however you pronounce it.
-
In Greek, it also stands for petross, which means the rock.
-
Just called him the rock, you know, like the rock
-
like buttu you know or not not Dane Johnson the rock,
-
but but but the rock, you know. So so you know,
-
Jesus called him that because Jesus was saying that you're
-
going to be this stable, strong, unwaived man that the
-
church will be builowed upon and you will be that man.
-
And probably when Jesus called Peter this, when he named
-
him Peter Petross, he didn't probably realize the impact that
-
he was going to do. Probably he was thinking, why
-
did Jesus call me a rock because in my rock
-
inside hear or whatever, So he probably wasn't really aware.
-
But Jesus knew that this man's identity was about to change.
-
But the interesting part is that before Jesus called him this,
-
what happened was that Peter acknowledged that Jesus, you are
-
the Messiah that we have been waiting for, that you
-
are here to save us. That was the moment that
-
Jesus chose to change his name. Is because when he
-
acknowledged who the Messiah was, it was a mark of
-
change in identity of that person. And the same goes
-
to us. The moment when we acknowledge who is our Messiah, ooh,
-
Jesus is in our lives, our identity changes changes into
-
you know, what he really wanted to be. You know
-
this transformation right, it is what our Christian life is
-
all about, you know, it's it's it is to for
-
us to be born again into into this new identity
-
into this new transformation. That is what it's all about.
-
It's not much of just the other blessings and stuff
-
like that that we receive. That is the side quest
-
I would use the word, you know, But the main
-
agenda that Jesus is here all about it is to
-
transform our identity into a new person, you know, to
-
be spiritually regenerated into what we are supposed to be.
-
You know. That is the process that he wants to
-
take us through. And there's an order to this process,
-
you know, And if you read the Bible you will
-
see this as in order to this process. And it
-
starts from redemption and God saves us by his grace
-
nothing that we do, and then presentation where we offer
-
ourselves saying that Lord, I acknowledge that you are Messiah,
-
and we present ourselves and then starts transformation where God
-
renews our mind, renews who we are and everything. And
-
then after we are renewed, then we are able to
-
discern the will of God, discern what God wants us
-
to do, discern what is our purpose, and then we
-
are able to demonstrate our life as a new creation
-
and what we are supposed to do. So that is
-
the order of that of the process of what Jesus
-
is taking us through, and it will be done, and
-
it will keep on happening until the day we meet
-
Jesus face to face. You know. That is what we
-
are going through is salvation, you know. So today you're
-
just gonna look very deeply into the transformation part, because
-
that's the essential part of salvation that we sometimes probably
-
don't really see or understand enough. And transformation is what
-
Peter was starting off at that time, from being a
-
read to become a rock. And that's what Paul describes
-
in Romans twelve verse two. You can read Roman's twelve
-
verse too. He can say, yeah, you don't be confirmed conformed,
-
conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing
-
of your mind, that you may prove what is that
-
good and acceptable and perfect will with God. So you know,
-
the words is one worse, but it's a very deep
-
and powerful worst because conform informity in in in Greek,
-
the word is called schema. I mean, you don't read
-
of that, I'll just read the form. It's called schema,
-
and schema talks about an outward form. And he says
-
that do not go according to the outworld form of
-
the world, because in today's world, and even the world
-
back then, there was a lot of external patterns and
-
and and values and culture. You know, you know, in
-
terms of the morality, in terms of what the culture says,
-
in terms of ideology, a lot of things that is
-
changing our identity. You know, even today, moral lines are
-
very blurred. You know, when you say you are a
-
person who have morality, you are now out to choose
-
what is morality. You know, it even means that you're
-
accepting that any gender can walk into any toilet. That's good. Distracted,
-
you know, that can walk into any toilet, and if
-
you are someone who's against that, then they say you
-
are you know, not a moral person. You're full of
-
hatred and things like that. So your morality is blurred
-
by the external world. But when you do so, when
-
you conform to this world, what is happening is that
-
you are imitating those who live only for the visible
-
things of this world. That is what is happening. When
-
you say you are living in the world's way, or
-
you without saying living in the world's way, you are
-
only living for the things that are visible, maybe living
-
for what is just outside you know, for the fame,
-
for the name, you know, for the for the nice house,
-
for the nice car, and all these things. And your
-
eyes is just fixed on the visible things. But what
-
Paul is saying, he is that don't be conformed, don't
-
follow the visible patterns of this world, but be transformed
-
by the renewing of your mind and transform. In Greek,
-
it uses this word called meta morphosis. I mean, if
-
you read biology or even science, metamorphosis is a very
-
very common word. You know, anyone knows, dude, spoiler spoilers. Okay, okay,
-
so fast, okay, you know, so you through this process
-
called metamorphosis. Thank you for putting it out so you know,
-
and and and and let me and let me break
-
you through that. This when when Paul is saying that
-
you shall be transformed or should you shall go through metamorphosis,
-
it's not talking about a one time thing. A lot
-
of times we think that salvation is just a one
-
time thing, or being transformed in Christ is just a
-
one time thing. All I need to do is come
-
out to the altar to be prayed for, and I
-
shall be transformed. All I need to do is say
-
that prayer, and I shall be renewed. But it doesn't
-
work like that. It is a one time adjustment, meaning
-
it's a one time commitment, but it is an ongoing
-
process that will take on probably forever, to go through
-
a process of recreation. I won't say I won't use
-
the word change. I won't use the word, you know,
-
becoming a better person or the better version of ourselves,
-
because a lot of times we use the word when
-
Christ comes in, we are becoming a better version ourselves
-
of ourselves. But that's not what Jesus is trying to do.
-
To make you a better version of yourself, But e
-
is to change your entire being and change your entire
-
conduct of how you act and when. Only when you
-
go through this process you'll be able to see. That's
-
what the word says again, that you know that after
-
the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what
-
is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
-
Only when you go through this process you'll be able
-
to see reality through God's word. You know, as though
-
after you go, when you go through this process, you'll
-
be able to realize right the whole world you're living
-
in a very different perspective. Then you'll be like, oh,
-
my word, this is there's an agenda behind everything, or
-
there is everything is just so different as though that
-
you're eyes are just open to see what is not
-
right and what is right in this world and what
-
is not right and what is right in your own
-
life also. But you will only be able to go
-
through this when you go to metamorphosis. And why Paul
-
use metamorphosis because he understood what it truly means. Because
-
if you can see it, this is a transformation process,
-
right from a caterpillar becoming a butterfly. So when someone
-
goes when this caterpillar goes through this process, it becomes
-
a completely different being. There's nothing alike with a caterpillar
-
and a butterfly, you know, like completely. You know, if
-
you read scients, you will understand that their entire system changes,
-
their digestive system changes. So the point that a caterpillar
-
eats a leave to be alive, but a butterfly doesn't
-
eat leave, It lives on nectar. It's a complete change
-
of what it takes into herself. No butterfly will go
-
around and look at a caterpillar and say, oh, that's
-
me ten years ago or like or three months ago.
-
I don't know how many four days ago or no
-
caterpillar will look at a butterfly and say, hey, I'm
-
gonna be that. They can't do that. They are completely
-
different creature. And when Paul says that we are to
-
go through metamorphosis, we are to become like that, to
-
a complete change of a being of who we are
-
before we knew Christ and acknowledge Christ, to who we
-
become after we acknowledge Christ's completely changed. It's not a
-
better version of ourselves, but we are just completely a
-
new person in all total. I mean, of course, we
-
can't change our look like a caterpilla and a butterfly
-
become more handsome or more pretty. Too bad, you can't
-
do that, but you know yourself. Your character will change
-
and needs to change completely. That is what we are
-
out to go through. So when we say that we
-
are transformed person in Christ, we should be able to
-
look back to ourselves before we knew Christ and today
-
who we are. And there must be a difference at
-
least not caterbular to butterfly maybe, but caterbulla to cocoon.
-
Progress is still progress, you know, but we must be
-
able to say that we are transforming if the day
-
that we know Christ from the before, whenever you were safe,
-
or that you accepted Christ in your life from that
-
day before till today. If you are still the same person,
-
and if there's no transformation in who you are, then
-
you're out to ask yourself, are you really going to transformation?
-
Are you really going through metamorphosis? And a bigger question
-
you might need to even ask yourself, are you really saved?
-
Because with salvation the process begins. And if we can't
-
say that I'm not a changed person, I'm still the
-
same even to a certain degree, then we cannot say
-
that we have experienced is love. We cannot say that
-
we have experienced transformation in our lives. So we got
-
to ask ourselves this because that is the beginning, and
-
this is what salvation is all about. Is changing your
-
identity from a read to become a rock. That's what
-
he wants to do in your life. You know the
-
second part of it. Your salvation birds from your being,
-
not your doing. You know a common struggle with us
-
as believers, right we always there is an instability in
-
our faith. There are some days we are good, some
-
days we feel like, yes, I'm all holy and I
-
can conquer the world through Jesus. And some days we
-
feel like I'm such a sinner and I should run
-
and hide away and hide myself and never come out,
-
you know, because I'm such a sinner, I'm such a
-
bad person. But we have to understand, right, if we rely,
-
and if we think that that is what our life
-
looks like as a believer, then there's a misunderstanding in
-
what we think salvation is. We are lacking clarity in
-
what is the true nature of salvation because we have
-
made it as though our salvation, our transformation, our life
-
as a Christian is so much reliant on what we
-
do and who we are, and then this false identity
-
becomes our self and we keep saying that it results
-
our actions. And some days we are stable, we are
-
they're all powerful serving worshiping. In the days when we
-
make a mistake and we mess up and then we
-
feel like we are not worthy to worship God and
-
we hide ourselves away, we probably don't go to the
-
Lord until we feel good again or until circumstances of
-
life changes again. And we're just wavering because we think
-
that it is all up to us and it's what
-
we do. But truth is and Ephesians two US eight
-
to ten. It says, here, for by grace you have
-
been saved through faith, not that, and that not of yourself,
-
but is the gift of God, not of works, unlest
-
anyone should boast, For we are His workmanship, created in
-
Jesus for good works, for which God prepared beforehand, that
-
we should walk in them. When you read the worse,
-
the first statement it says here is that for by
-
grace you have been saved. And Paul speaking this to
-
the believers, and he's saying that you have been saved.
-
It means the work has already been completed. You know,
-
you one use have been saved. If the work is
-
not done yet, you'll be said, Probably Paul will write
-
it as you know, you are being saved to faith,
-
or you will be saved by faith, or you're not
-
gonna be saved. You know what. It says, you have
-
been saved, meaning the work is completed. It's done, it's finished,
-
you know. And then the word standing then it says
-
that we are created in Christ Jesus for good works.
-
The word for good works means good works or the
-
work we do, our action, our obedience, serving, all these
-
things are a result of your salvation, not the cause
-
of your salvation. You know, none of the things that
-
we do will ever save us. But we do it
-
because we are grateful that we have been saved. We
-
love others because we have already been saved, not because
-
if I love more person, I'm gonna get more brownie
-
points so that I'll be safe. It's not like that.
-
It doesn't work like that, you know. And that's why
-
in Second Corinthians five' was fifty sorry five verse seventeen.
-
It also says, therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he
-
is a new creation. All things have passed away. Behold,
-
all things have become new. You know. It says if
-
there's if anyone, any one year is in Christ, then
-
you are a new creation. It says that in Christ,
-
meaning that we are in union with Christ. And when
-
we are in union with Christ, it changes our existence itself.
-
We are a new creation already, you know. It's in
-
Christ that it happens. You become a new creation in Christ.
-
And one trying to say is that your transformation and
-
you trying to change yourself will never happen by you
-
trying to change yourself. It can only happen to Christ.
-
And when you are in Christ, and when you're living
-
in this shared union with Christ, you're trying to change yourself.
-
Even if you have a bad habit and you want
-
to get rid of that habit, you will not be
-
able to fully get rid of it. You will only
-
be able to It's only possible when you are in Christ,
-
in communion with Christ. You can't do it yourself. So
-
and that's why our faith fluctuates. So because our faith
-
fluctuates according to our actions. In those days that we
-
don't do those bad things, so called back things, then
-
we feel we are good, high and mighty, ready to serve,
-
ready to worship. And on the days that we do
-
those things, we feel the worst. We feel like we're
-
not worthy to even stand in front of Him. But
-
that's not the point. That's not how it's supposed to be.
-
The point is that we are in Him, and as
-
we as long as we keep remaining in Him, good days,
-
bad days, sinful days, nonsinful days, transformation will continue to
-
take place, you know, will continue to take place. You know,
-
I'm not giving you a disclaimer saying that go on
-
and do sin. Okay, don't take that as that, but
-
what I'm trying to say that don't beat yourself up,
-
don't be caught with guilt, because guilt is a lie
-
of the enemy to keep you away from God, keep
-
you away from experiencing this transfer. And it's a cycle
-
that will keep repeating. But the day when you realize
-
that your guilt will not transform you, even not your
-
remorseful feeling will transform you. But only when you are
-
in Christ will transform you. That is the day you
-
will begin to experience transformation in your life. Amen. So we,
-
therefore we are not birth right through our works, through
-
our deeds, our action, but we are birth right to Christ,
-
and we've got to allow him. Allow Christ to do
-
his work in us, and you will do the metamorphosis
-
in you to transform you to who you need to be.
-
Rightfully the rock not that read okay, the third part
-
of what God has done for us, God's eternal love,
-
birds our salvation. You know, if I ask anyone here,
-
can you explain to me Trinity? How would you explain it? God,
-
the Father and the whly Spirit. And if someone who
-
doesn't believe yet come and ask you, hey, what is
-
this tree in one God you're talking about? How would
-
you explain it three persons in three different positions. Okay,
-
might work maybe for some people huh more confused? You know,
-
I mean as believers, right, most of them. We struggle
-
to explain trinity, and some people struggle to understand the
-
concept of trinity as well. Tree in one you mean
-
three in one coffee, you know, just just kidding, you know, well,
-
I hope that energy and you know, you know, so, Okay,
-
So we're gonna read. Okay, We're gonna read from First John,
-
chapter four, verse seven to nine. He says, here, beloved, beloved,
-
let us love one another. For love is of God.
-
And everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.
-
And he who does not love does not know God.
-
For God is love. And in this the love of
-
God was manifested towards us. That God has sent his
-
only begotten son into the world that we might live
-
to him. And when you know it's this is the
-
word seven He says, here is that for love is
-
of God or love is God or God is love.
-
We commonly year this statement. Everybody uses this statement, Oh
-
God is love or love is God. However you want
-
to play around with it, and sometimes we don't. Maybe
-
not fully understand what does that mean? Or maybe we
-
use it because we are trying to say that that
-
God is a loving person or a loving being that
-
loves us. But if you say that love is an action,
-
it's a service that we have to put in the
-
communion that we have to have with one another, you know,
-
that is love. Right, So the original the entire statement
-
of loving someone or love is that it is a
-
verb or is an action where you are portraying it,
-
I don't know. However, maybe by huguing, you know, doing
-
good deeds, you know, five languages of love, whatever, you know,
-
you're doing something to them and that's why you say
-
that you love them. And in John seventeen was twenty
-
four says here that you loved me before the foundation
-
of the world, and in states that God loved Jesus
-
even before the entire creation happened. And that itself is
-
a proof of how a trinity god works because a
-
singular god cannot say that he is love, because who
-
is he loving? If he is an only god. If
-
he's an only god, a singular god, he cannot be
-
called God is love because how does he love? How
-
does he love? What does he love? Because before he
-
created anything, that was nothing, So that means he had
-
to be loving someone. There was a loving relationship that
-
was happening. That means the sun was present. That means
-
the Holy Spirit was present. So for us to say
-
that God is love as a statement, it says that
-
it shows that it's a trinity God, a God who
-
is not just loving, but he himself is being himself
-
is love. That he was loving Jesus, his Son, and
-
the Holy Spirit from the beginning. They loved one another,
-
they were in communion with one another, they were in
-
fellowship with one another, and there was so much love
-
that was within them, and they created everything out of
-
that love. That's why he says, hey that for everyone
-
who is born of God knows love. And everyone who
-
was you know, and everyone who loves is born of God.
-
We en we are, and everyone is everyone loves, who
-
loves is born of God. Because God created everything out
-
of love, that loving communion that he had among him,
-
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. So because
-
we know that this is how God is, that he
-
is love and it's all about love because he's constantly
-
loving the Son, and he's constantly loving the Holy Spirit
-
and they're loving one another. So we have to know
-
that the ultimate mission when Christ came down to earth
-
was not just to die for our sins and save us,
-
but actually to love us, to bring us back into
-
this loving relationship with him, to be part of this communion,
-
this eternal communion that's between the Father Son and the
-
Holy Spirit. Now we are part of it. That was
-
his mission from the beginning. Not just he loves us,
-
but he wants us to be part of that love.
-
You read these verse it says again and again that
-
everyone who loves is born of God and knows what
-
it means to love. Because when you are born out
-
of His love, you will know what it is all about.
-
So when you're born again, when you're born right again,
-
we are born out of love, a love that we
-
love God so much, a love that God loves us
-
so much, and we can't contain in our inside of us,
-
that we love everyone around us. That is the love
-
that is speaking here, you know, and that's what is
-
here for to allow us to enter into this eternal love,
-
to experience that love. Not just save us, yes, save us, great,
-
you've got an entry ticket to heaven. Yeah, great, But
-
beyond just that which is to love us, to make
-
be part of this holy communion, the Father, Son, the
-
Holy Spirit, and we are now part of it. The
-
whole point of why he even chose to break his body,
-
you know, and he does communion and we break his
-
body and drink of his blood, is to show that
-
you are no longer yourself, but you are now part
-
of me, my body. And when you're a part of
-
his body means you're a part of the Father, You're
-
part of the Son, and you're part of the Holy Spirit.
-
You're part of that communion. Now, that is what it
-
means to be saved by him, That you're part of
-
this loving relationship that covers you so much, and we
-
need to experience it, and I pray that all of
-
us will experience it to that really, to the highest
-
level of his love, because that's what he has done
-
for us, not just save us from sin and allow
-
us to be free, but save us so they can
-
be part of his body, that communion. Amen. All right,
-
So we have spoken all about what he has done.
-
Now we speak about what we are to do. Okay.
-
The first thing we have to understand is that salvation
-
is both a privilege and a responsibility. Philippians two twelve,
-
verse thirteen says, Therefore, my beloved, as you've always obeyed,
-
not as in my presence only, but now much more
-
in my absence, work out your salvation, your own salvation,
-
with fear and trembling, for it is God works in you,
-
both to will and to do for his good pleasure.
-
You know, we are very privileged that we are saved. Amen,
-
then we get to experience is love. But salvation right
-
is nearly not just a privilege, but it is also
-
a responsibility. Whether you like it or not, you are,
-
if you are safe, you're part of this responsibility. You
-
have been given this responsibility already, and you cannot deny it.
-
You cannot just say that I'll just take the privileged
-
part and just ignore the responsibility. You can't do that.
-
It's a two way relationship between us and God. No relationship,
-
no loving relationship, is one way. It's not one sided love,
-
which is God loves us and now we love him.
-
So when we love him. There's responsibility in any kind
-
of loving relationship. If you are a partner, you are
-
a boyfriend or girlfriend, if you are married, if you
-
are children, father and son, whatever any kind of relationship
-
as responsibility. You cannot just have all the privileged part
-
that you know, your enjoyment and pleasure part, and then
-
reject the responsibility. Then that's not love. That's just last
-
you know. So it's the same thing in this love
-
also there's a responsibility. And that's why it says here
-
in this verse that you are to work out on
-
your own salvation. That's your part. You're working it out.
-
And then in verse thirty it says there for it
-
is God works in you both to will and to
-
do for his good pleasure. It means that you are
-
working out yourself, you're working out your salvation and God
-
is working in you. Let me explain it a lamentum.
-
Maybe you know when you accepted Christ and now God
-
tells you or you're reminded that you have to forgive
-
someone that you hate the most. The person did so
-
many bad things over you, probably even abuse you or
-
did you know, really really bad things that you can't
-
forgive that person for what he has done to you.
-
But now you are a new creation. You accepted Christ,
-
and God reminds you of God tells you forgive that
-
person because that is who I am. I'm all about forgiving.
-
And then now you have to struggle, comuster your courage up,
-
find yourself in a place where you need to struggle
-
to forgive this person. And even when you try to
-
go and rebuild your relationship, reconcile your relationship with this
-
person and start again, and the person keeps hating you,
-
scolding you, chasing you away. And then now, right now,
-
you're still going back because God told you to do it,
-
and you're going back to forgive this person. So you
-
are right now working out your salvation by trying to
-
make that move to forgive that person, by breaking yourself down,
-
by being selfless obedience to forgive that person. But while
-
you are doing that is working in you. It's making
-
you a little bit more patient, it's making you a
-
little bit more graceful, it's making you more a little
-
bit more loving, so that you can still love that person.
-
You can still forgive that person even more. You know,
-
when you say yes, I'm gonna serve in church, and
-
then now you started to decide it to serve in
-
church and all now and suddenly you say so many
-
years and then you find yourself your time is gone.
-
You got no more me time anymore. To spend for yourself.
-
You can't go for so many holidays anymore because you
-
have a responsibility on some day year. You can't come
-
late to church anymore. You have to work with different
-
people when you serve, and sometimes you don't like everyone. Unfortunately,
-
you know, you can't avoid that. Sometimes you don't like
-
everyone you know, and and and now you're still learning
-
to work with grace. And now you're being more patient.
-
You know, you're learning to be more disciplined so that
-
you'll be on time. You know you are saying no
-
to a lot of things, saying no to staying up
-
late on a Saturday night, or saying saying no to
-
going for a holiday, so that you will be here
-
serving and doing things. So what is happening. You are
-
doing your part of working out your salvation by choosing
-
to serve, choosing to loving. What God is doing you
-
is transforming you, becoming a more disciplined person, becoming a
-
person with much more grace to work with one another,
-
a person who is you know, selfless, no longer fish,
-
but selfless. So that is how it works. When you
-
work out your salvation, you're giving an opportunity for God
-
to work in you. And transform you. But when you
-
don't do anything. For example, you just say that prayer
-
and he said, I am a Christian. Now, yes, Lord,
-
I have been safe. But you don't do anything about it.
-
You just go back to your old, same life. You
-
just come to church and sit down, listen amen, and
-
you go back and then you just carry on with
-
your life. You are not giving him an opportunity to
-
work in you. There's no opportunity because it's telling you
-
to forgive that person. But you say, no, Lord, I cannot,
-
and you just avoid that working out your salvation part
-
and you said, no, Lord, I don't want to serve.
-
You know, I still want to go on a holiday
-
or do my own thing. I'm okay coming late to church.
-
I'm fine with it. You're not giving him an opportunity
-
to work in yourself. He can't. You got to give
-
him a room to work in you. So that that
-
is what it means. Here. Two means to work out
-
your salvation. It's an ongoing relationship with one another. You
-
work out, he works in you. If you don't work out,
-
you got no gains. It's the same thing, same thing,
-
you know. Yeah, yeah, So that's how it works. That's
-
how it works. How does he work in you? John
-
fifteen to five. He says here, I am the vine,
-
You are the branches. You're abising me, and I him
-
very much fruits and before without me, you can't, you cannot,
-
You can do nothing. You know. That's why he says here.
-
So it's in You have to abide in him. It's
-
a continuous process that you keep working out, and he
-
works in you, and then you bear fruit. You abide
-
in him, you work out your salvation. You do what
-
you need to do, and He will work in you
-
and you will bear fruit. That is a continuous process.
-
But how does he do that in you? He do
-
that in you true the Holy Spirit? How does he
-
abide in you when you abide in him through the
-
Holy Spirit? You know? X Chapter one eight says here,
-
but you shall receive the next light. You know, you
-
shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you,
-
and shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in all
-
Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
-
And X four thirty one says here, when when they
-
had parayed, the place where that they were assembled together
-
was shaken. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit,
-
and they spoke word of God with boldness. This is
-
the act of the Holy Spirit. That you will receive
-
power in you to do mighty things, to become witnesses.
-
You'll become bolder so that you can go out and
-
tell people about Jesus. You will transform you. And how
-
did the red Simon become rock Peter is when in
-
the Pentecostal he experienced the Holy Spirit. From the one
-
who rejected Jesus three times, it became the one who
-
saved three thousand people, preached over three thousand people, willing
-
to give his life for God, went into the prison
-
for God. How and why because the Holy Spirit is
-
the one that transformed him. And the Holy Spirit is
-
the one that can transform you nothing else, no one else.
-
So we shouldn't shy away from the Holy Spirit no
-
matter what in our lives. Sometimes we have fear, you know,
-
fear when you see people speaking tongues and they are
-
you know, or whatever, when you hear and see and
-
these things, you know, sometimes they are a lot of
-
different theological viewpoints and things like that when it comes
-
to Holy Spirit. But I want to encourage all of
-
us here to let go of that fear. Let go
-
of that skepticness and let the Holy Spirit work in you.
-
If you don't allow him, then you will not experience it,
-
regardless of whatever you know. But because the indwelling of
-
the Holy Spirit in us is a privilege that those
-
who believe in Jesus can have that will enable us
-
to carry on with the work. Are you finding yourself
-
tired being a Christian? Also tired morning wake up and
-
need toreate a Bible and you can't understand anything? Or
-
are you tired serving every week in week out? Oh? Man,
-
can't they be a replacement for me? Why we're doing
-
it all on our own and not allowing the Holy
-
Spirit be the one that enables us to do it?
-
So we need the Holy Spirit. You want to be transformed,
-
you want to become a new creation. It's only through
-
the power of the Holy Spirit it is possible. You
-
want to be able to read the Bible and understand
-
everything is saying, including Leviticus numbers. You need the Holy
-
Spirit to understand. So you need the Holy Spirit. Next one,
-
what we have to do. We have to pursue joy
-
over happiness. You know, the whole world is always about
-
being happy. Everybody asks what is the goal of your life.
-
I want to do well so I can be happy
-
and make my family happy. But what if I say
-
that happiness is always changing, circumstantial, you know, it's always wavering.
-
But joy, the joy that the Bible speaks, is radical.
-
It is unchanging because when happiness is based on your circumstance,
-
if today you've got money in your bank account, you're happy.
-
Tomorrow you don't have, not happy, But the joy you
-
have you don't have, You're still joyful. It is unshaken,
-
unchanging because you are secured that God loves you and
-
that is your joy. And that's why John fifteen eleven
-
says these things. I've spoken to you that my joy
-
may remain in you, that your joy may be full.
-
You know, our salvation never guarantees us happiness. If you
-
want to be safe so that we can be happy,
-
it will never be possible. But when you are safe,
-
you will have joy, a joy that will enable you
-
to stand through every trial, every struggle, and every pain
-
that you will face. And you will know that if
-
you're even if you're suffering, that doesn't mean God is
-
not there, but you're about to experience God in a
-
deeper level because you're joyful still to everything, you know.
-
That's why James One was to the force, it says, yeah,
-
it commands us to count it all joy. When we
-
are going through trials and tribulation, it's a joy, you know.
-
And when we are enjoying, not shaken, and we continue
-
to rejoice even in hardship, it shows that we are
-
birth right because we are not a reed. A reed
-
will always look for happiness. Waiver today, this makes me happy.
-
I go for this. Tomorrow that makes me happy, I
-
go for that. Amen. But if you're a rock, well,
-
if you're a rock, you'll be able to rejoice in
-
love and you will not be broken even in suffering,
-
you will be standing strong. So that's why don't pursue happiness.
-
If we are pursuing happiness as those who are saved,
-
then we are in the wrong track already. We're not
-
born right. Already we pursue joy, a fulfilling joy, even
-
through struggle. Yet we can smile even through struggle. Yet
-
we can sing and say hallelujah, that's joy. We pursue
-
that right. I'm getting there, last one, getting our salvation right. Yes,
-
thank you, Tyrrell first part, you're not saved just at
-
that conversion alone, meaning when you say that prayer. Later on,
-
as we at the end, we will say the same
-
prayer we do every week. You're not saved by just
-
saying that prayer. But it's just a start. A lot
-
of us think by saying that alone, we are already
-
saved and everything is all right. Now we are with Jesus.
-
We got that ticket to have it. No, but it
-
is a start of us being saved, and the process
-
will go on. The transformation will go on, metamorphosis will
-
go on till will become christ Like, till the will
-
is lifted off that we can stand in front of
-
Jesus and when we look at Jesus, we can see ourselves,
-
and when Jesus looks at us, he can see himself.
-
Until that day come, your salvation process is ongoing. It's
-
not a one day thing. That's why we have to
-
work it out so that we can become christ Like.
-
Second one, Jesus is not just our savior, but he
-
is Lord too. And why I'm saying this is that
-
we all love the part that Jesus is savior. Oh yeah,
-
Jesus saved me. Praise God Ala Lujah, happy in all.
-
But he is our lord too. Do we know what
-
is the meaning of lord? It also means master. When
-
we say Jesus is our lord, and we call him
-
our lord, means we surrender our will to him, because
-
he's the master who owns us already. So we have
-
to give our will to him. Our priorities, our desires,
-
our life, direction, everything unto him. And now he owns us,
-
he moves us according to where he wants to move
-
us to. We have to submit, and that's the harder part.
-
We struggle with that. That's why he says in Luke
-
six forty six, why do you call me lord lord?
-
And do and not do the things which I say?
-
Because when we call him lord, we call him our master,
-
and we are submitting to him, meaning we had to
-
do what he says, give up our lifestyle, give up
-
our desires. That's the part we Struggle's. Third one, Jesus
-
is not just our savior, but also the judge. First
-
Timothy for one says, I charge you therefore before God
-
and the Lord Jesus Christ will judge the living and
-
the dead at its appearance and his kingdom. We always
-
look at his grace. We love his grace. We love
-
that we are safe, but we forget that there is
-
accountability with this grace that we receive, meaning one day
-
we will need to account to him when he returns
-
as a judge to us, he's a merciful savior, but
-
it's also a very righteous judge. So one day we
-
will need to account to him and say, I've given
-
you seventy years of your life, what have you done
-
with it? It will ask us that, just like he
-
asked the man with the talents, I've given you this,
-
I've given you that, what have you done with it?
-
I've blessed you. Amen, Yeah, you were very happy and
-
I blessed you, But what did you did with it?
-
We will need to account and ignoring the fact that
-
we need to account him is a very shallow gospel,
-
very shallow understanding of ovation, and that will not transform us.
-
But if we acknowledge that one day we will need
-
to account to him, we will be careful and sometimes
-
we need to be vigilant. The Bible itself says stay
-
sober and vigilant, so that we will be vigilant and
-
to do what we need to do, because one day
-
we're gonna count back the Big Boss of what we
-
have done with our lives. The last one. Nothing can
-
separate us from the love of God Romans eight. Romans eight,
-
thirty eight and thirty nine says that nothing can separate
-
us from God's love. Neither dead, neither the sins, neither anything.
-
But we can separate ourselves from the love of God.
-
We can separate ourselves from the love of God. We
-
can cut ourselves away from God's love. We can resist
-
is love and live outside of is love. His love
-
is really inseparable, unbreakable. But a relationship requires abiding. And
-
like the prodigal son as well, he's distant himself, but
-
the Father was just there, constant, So we can separate ourselves.
-
You never think that no matter what we do, we
-
will never be separated from His love. We will be
-
separated on our own, on our own terms, on our
-
own actions. So we have to come back. We have
-
to go back to him. HM. We have to be
-
birthed right in order to grow right. And John Tree
-
was three to aid, says Jesus answered and said to
-
him most most assuredly, I say to you, unless one
-
is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God
-
naked e must said to him, how can a man
-
be born when he is all? Can you enter a
-
second time into his mother's woman be born? Jesus unsaid,
-
most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born
-
of the water and the Spirit, it cannot enter the
-
Kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh
-
is flesh, that which born of the Spirit is spirit.
-
Do not marvel that I say to you, you must
-
be born again. The wind blows where it wishes, and
-
you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where
-
it comes and where it goes. So everyone who is
-
born of the spirit. So the truth of our salvation
-
and discipleship is that without being born again, born from
-
the above, we cannot go through transformation. We cannot go
-
through growth. All the programs that we have, teachings that
-
we have, systems that we have, everything that you might
-
even sign up for, will not be able to transform
-
you or do what the Spirit does to transform you.
-
Unless the Holy Spirit, you're born again in the Holy Spirit,
-
baptized again in the Holy Spirit, you will not be
-
able to be transformed. And he says this here clearly,
-
just like a child, he only has nine months inside
-
the stomach of the mom. After that, he cannot grow
-
inside anymo already. He has to be born out to grow.
-
So we also need to be born again, born right
-
again this time. Let's get this time right, born right
-
again in the spirit. That's why we emphasize so much,
-
be born unless we're born of water and spirit. So
-
we need to be born again in water baptism. That's
-
the whole power of water baptism. It is a physical
-
reminder that when you go to the water and our
-
old self dies and we come out, we come out
-
as a new person. We are born again. It's a
-
physical representation. So we need to be water baptized. And
-
if you're not, you have to consider it because it
-
is a significant that you're born again. Physically, you are
-
showing that you're born again when you do that, and
-
you have to be born You have to be baptized
-
by the spirit. Also because internally only when you're born
-
again through the spirit, you can transform. If not cannot,
-
it says they're clearly, unless you're born again of the
-
water and the Spirit, you cannot enter the Kingdom of God.
-
I'm gonna close ready, maybe the band can come up
-
and that's why Jesus compares discipleship to birth is to
-
end all sorts of argument of shallow following, because it's
-
another standard. You know, it's not just change our attitudes,
-
it's not just become a better version of ourselves. But
-
Christ clearly says unless you're born again, you will never
-
be part of the Kingdom of God. The standard is
-
set right up there that we have to be born.
-
It's not a shallow following. We have to be birthed
-
as a new person again, new creation. So we have
-
to ask ourselves. We have to allow the Holy Spirit
-
to baptize us. We have to receive the Holy Spirit
-
allow that process to happen inside of us. The salvation
-
is not just what getting good in being a moral person,
-
but it is metamorphosis, a complete change in the person
-
through the spirit that lives inside of us. For Quarenteens
-
fifteen forty nine says, the one from above is in
-
those who are born from a birth. So we have
-
to be born from a birth again, which means born
-
through the Spirit again. Amen, we need the spirit to
-
go through metamorphosis. You know, you can look back in
-
your life, and I can look back in my own
-
life if ten years ago, if you tell me I'll
-
be here, I will laugh at you and I right
-
now ten years look at my ten years ago self.
-
I laugh at it as well, because it's just a
-
different person. But if I did not allow the Holy
-
Spirit to transform me, if I did not allow to
-
give it up and change myself, I would guaranteely say
-
I would have ended up in prison ten years ago.
-
So we have to. I mean, you look back in
-
your own life. Can you say that I've gone through
-
this metamorphosis the old self and the new self is different,
-
completely different. Maybe you're saying it or not yet, not
-
yet just a little bit. Then maybe it's time for
-
us too allow the Holy Spirit to do so.
