Revival Fire (The Holy Spirit) | Pr. Alvin Keng

The title of my message today is Revival, Fire the

Holy Spirit, Okay twenty ninety one. It says this, Okay, Now, Lord,

look on their treads and grant to your servants that

with all boness they may speak your word by stretching

out your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders

may be done through the name of your holy servant Jesus.

And when they had prayed, the place where they were

assembled together was shaken, and they were all filled with

the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God

with boness. Friends, I want to declare to you for

revival to happen in the church in your life, we

need the Holy Spirit. Right, No Holy Spirit, no revival.

That's what happened. Then they had Jesus. They all believed,

but they waited for the Holy Spirit to come before

fire came into the picture, before they could start doing

the things that I mean, they really so could do

the things that Jesus did, but he thought and he reminded,

but they couldn't believe. But then once the Holy Spirit came,

it was a different thing altogether. Right, there was Bondus

Peter who was scared, was so articulate.

You know.

They will all filled with the Holy Spirit, and God

took over right. So in our lives and in his church,

for revival to happen, we really need the Holy Spirit.

Okay.

John chapter sixteen, verse seven to eleven. It says, nevertheless,

I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage.

That I go away.

Jesus talking about himself. Are If I do not go away,

the helper will not come to you. But if I depart,

I will send him to you. And when he has come,

he will convict the world of sin and of righteousness

and of judgment. Of sin because they do not believe

in me. Of righteousness because I go to my Father

and you see me. No more of judgment, because the

ruler of this world is judged. Okay, So what is

the significance of the Holy Spirit. Let me let me

unpack this a little bit.

Review.

So Jesus came right, he came born baby manger right

and in like put reticent in. No, there's a different

chess plan okay. Uh, you know, yeah, the different different

in and then born in a manger and then after that,

for twelve years, no news. The only news you heard

was when the parents forgot him for three days. How

many parents here you will forget your kids for three

don't know what's wrong with the parents. But anyway, and

then they found him in the temple and he was

studying and then the parents say hello, where where where

you went? And then he's like, oh, I'm about my

father's business. But then he was well in a way, reprimanded, right,

and he's like, okay, let me follow. And then you

don't hear about him for the next from twelve to thirteen,

you no no news, no ex tens cam, no ex camp,

but nothing zero.

He just became a carpenter.

But of course we really know from twelve years old

he was filled the world of God, right, and he

was very clear his purpose.

And then he hit the tee.

And by that time there was this guy named John

the Baptist who was baptizing people, proclaiming that the King,

now God is near and they need to be saved,

and there will be someone who will come after me

that is greater than me. Yo yo, you know the story, right, okay,

I just bring just unpecking a little bit with you

are doing a summary TLDR.

Okay.

And then after that what happened was that he was

baptized by John and his satter his ministry, and then

the next three years was crazy. He was a rock star.

He could kill the sick. He could, you know, do

so many things right. You can read the body in

the gospels for gospels right. And he was famous like

the Rise and Fall of Jesus. No famous everybody and

go to nobody want to go to Suddenly everybody know I.

Suddenly they want to kill him. Sudden they want to

cruise your him. Suddenly they read to have a serial

killer that read it than Jesus. And then he died

across Even his followers left him, you know, even the

twelve faffour one left him. And do you know that

Jesus had more than twelve? Of course we hear real

about traild, but he had about seventy. Then later in

the upper one hundred and twenty, you know, one hundred

and didy people waiting there you know, for.

The Holy Spirit. Right.

But what he said was true because he said, my

words were never fait. So he actually came back. He

revealed himself and for forty days. Do you know, Jesus

hang out. After Jesus died and came back, he hanged

around for forty days.

Why did he have to hang around for forty days?

I think because people forget because the forty days is

here around. He's just reminding everybody are what he's been

telling them for the past three years, revision intensive, express

revision right. And after that he left, bye, guys, right,

he was trying the transfiguration in amount. And then they

saw Moses and Elija is read drama, l Elijah. They

saw Elijah and Moses he wed drama. And then he left.

And then he said, hey, don't go anywhere, wait for

the Spirit of God to come await. And then I

think on Saven or three weeks later, Pentacos happened. And

how do you happen? They were praying in the upper room,

one hundred and twenty of them praying in the upper room.

And then the Spirit of God came.

They all speaking tongues and the descripture. Isaiah was fulfilled.

I will pour out my spirit on all flesh. That's

what happened. Then, right, the Holy Spirit came. God's presence

is the Holy Spirit. So didn't want to learn a

little bit about.

The Holy Spirit.

And Jesus keeps saying, it's good that I go. Friends,

I'm sure they want him to stay. Don't go, don't go,

passa go away, go away, don't go. Stay And then

she said it's good that I go because I don't go.

You're not going to be independent.

Okay, we're not gonna come Holy Spirit anyway, I'm not saying,

Spirit will convict you.

Holy Spirit's job right of judgment, because the rule of

this world is judge right, because ultimately there.

Has to be a right and the wrong. And who

is the one that passes judgment? Not man?

Because if you live in this world long enough, you

realize that a lot of things are great. Coy, not

a lot of things are great just because you you know,

a lot of people are doing all kinds of things

and we're not careful.

We are going to subscribe to the ideas of the world. Right.

So the Holy Spirit convicts hearts, and through him people

are safe. I hope you guys catch this. And through

him we have bonus to be witnesses. And through him

we will also display the fruit of the Spirit. This

why I'm not gonna go deeper. Just go to Galatians

chapter five, verse twenty two to twenty three.

About the fruit of the fruit, fruit of the Spirit,

and through him we are giving spiritual gifts for the

world of the ministreet. So it kind of tells me

that the Holy Spirit is a big deal. Okay, And

it's a big deal. He's a big deal. Now, He's

I'm not gonna talk about other people because they are

different thought process, But let me talk about about Bible says.

Through the Holy Spirit, people's heart be convicted. Right.

So he's read a big deal because he's sent by

God after Jesus left. And I want to decline with

you that this is the age of the Holy Spirit.

A lot of people say that the Holy Spirit his

age God ready. No, I believe it's now. Oh, but

then we don't see healing and prayer. Well, God, God, God, God,

God happened on this? Is that maybe we are not

as fervent as the believers last time now because they

literally started a commune, they saw everything. They hang out together,

they go to church every day. Are you willing to

do that? I think we do that. I think the

Holy Spirit come right, So he is a big deal

about friends, very important question for us to think about.

Do we recognize him? Oh, Jesus is good, we recognize him.

But do we recognize the Holy Spirit in our lives?

Okay?

Do we acknowledge him. Right, there's a lot of prayer

to God and Jesus. But do we prayer to the

Holy Spirit? Not saying you must change time, just saying that.

Think about it, right, Do we have a relationship with

the Holy Spirit or communion or fellowship with the Holy

Spirit God or not? Let me tell you the significance

of rosa. Right, this is something we do every week.

Every week after before you go, we will do this

thing called the benediction. You do you know the benediction

or significance. Someways we don't understand the significance of it.

It has a clear significance on why we declare the benediction.

Declare the benediction on everybody here, okay, right, let me

read Second Corinthians thirteen fourteen, just to break it down

for us for understanding. Okay, he says here, the grace

of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and

the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

Amen.

Okay, let's break it down now. Why the grace of

the Lord Jesus Christ. Why not the love of Jesus. No,

but Jesus, don't be like, yeah he will. God loves you,

love I'm not gonna go semantics sound, but but why

why the benediction is so specific? Why grace? Because we

are saved by grace. We are not saved by love.

We're not saying we are saved by grace. You're your cash,

a not It is the grace of the Lord Jesus

Christ that saved us from sin. Not the love, not

the works, not the faith, the grace. It is a

gift given to us. You're your cast, shannel, mean, sir.

No matter how bad you are, no matter how nonsense

you are in your life, are even now so you

might be doing nonsense, We don't know what you can

come back to Jesus Ah and true his grace. You're

safe and true his grace you are forgiven. You know

how powerful there is? Friends, Do you know that the

your life are because of Christ?

Are you are safe? You know?

Not because of God's love? For yay, there's somehow connection now.

But the thing that saves you is the grace of Christ.

he loves you, He loves this world. He loves the

most wicked person in this world. But whether or not

the most wicked person in this world is safer is

only true the grace of Christ. We cannot get it

out of order, nor we have to be very clear

on the order. No, that also means that people can Okay,

Then let's talk about the Holy Spirit.

Why the word communion how you meaning communities?

So means every day we knew, just take bread and

you that you need to friend friend with the Holy Spirit. Man,

he's the one your friend friendly. He's the one that

is here. He's the one that we should talk to.

So you call God, Jesus, Holy Spirit same, but it's

the Holy Spirit that is having communion with us. Are

you catching that? Because Jesus is not here, really, he's

with the Father in heaven.

Are you catching that? You know?

Its important for us to understand it's not because we

don't get it there we get chicken, and we have

to understand the relationship. You know, I believe that God

is a God of order, and he really I tell you,

I see time and again that a lot of things

that the Bible said now is for us to have

abundant life, is for us to grow. But then sometimes

when we move things out of order, then we get

messed up. But if we can learn to make things

in order according to the word of God, then I

think we'll be set up for success because there's the

promise that God gave us. Right, So I think I

rest my case that the Holy Spirit is important.

So the question is who is the Holy Spirit? You

know not? Do you know the Holy Spirit? I think

you know not? Right? Who is the Holy Spirit? Some

of us? What is the Holy Spirit? Okay? So I

got three points for you. Let's learn together. Okay.

First, is Holy Spirit is God. Let's pit clear on that.

Okay.

With the exception of the second or the third epiece

of John, the New Testament book right contains references to

the person and the work of the Holy Spirit. Almost

every book talks about Holy Spirit, talks about Spirit of

God right being around, and the Holy Spirit is an essential,

It's essential to God's plan for redemption. Let's read John

chapter sixteen, verse eight again. John sixteen, verse eight. It says,

and when he has come, he will convict the world

of sin and of righteousness and of judgment. John chapter three,

verse five to six. Let's read that. Okay, let's give

you some scripture. It says here Jesus answered most assuredly.

I say to you, unless one is born of water

and the spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God.

That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and

that which is born of the spirit is spirit.

Right.

So we need to be born again in the spirit right.

So the spirit is God right and his essential to

God's plan of redemption. Okay, let me let me try

to unpack this a little bit. So X one, it says,

my spirit fall upon you, and you'll be winnesses to me. Right,

So what's our job? Can I let me make some

assumptions here. I assume that all of you here are believers, right, most,

if not all of you are believers. If you're not

a Christian yet, you not received God's your personal law

and savior. After this, we're gonna have a subvision called

please accept Him. I don't tell you, okay, best thing ever, right,

But all of us here I believers means we have said,

Jesus accept you, I accept your grace to say me.

So when that happens, the Holy Spirit comes into our

life and he communes with us. Really means he's around you.

Of course some people are. Oh, but there I cannot

pay in times. See, there's a difference between the baptism

and the Holy Spirit, and the inn feeling of the

Holy Spirit, there's a different one. But God's Spirit is here.

He's with the city, and he needs to be here

because Jesus is not here. Jesus is only stuck one

place one time. No, but the Holy Spirit here with everybody. Okay,

So the Holy that's why when the Bible says the

Holy Spirit convicts hearts, how do you get safer? Do

you cay say because the preacher pre powerful message? Do you,

guys say, because you were convinced logically about the Bible?

How do you get safe?

The Bible says very clearly that it is the Holy

Spirit that convicts your.

Heart to be safe. So is his work?

Note but why it's our work toend to share people?

Is it our responsibility that someone will accept Christ? No,

it's not our responsibility. Can I be honest with you?

Something we feel responsible. That's the problem with humans. We

take responsibility that's not supposed to be ours. It is

not our responsibility that someone gets safe. I'm sure a

lot of you have a family who's not believer.

You them be saved. Yeah, I know, I saw one

right right now.

I'm you know, me and my wife, we are praying

real hard for the salvation of my in laws. And

God has opened the door. God has opened. God is

opening many doors down that I recognize right that my

parents or my dad in law is open to prayer

asking us to pray for him.

Ah.

Really, so we have to take the responsibility. Let's go,

let's go and pray, let's lay hands, let's pray. Right,

Holy Spirit will convict. It's hard one day, hopefully, right.

I don't know, you know, he's still practicing a lot

of stuff at the side, you know, fine, But we

pray for him because the Holy Spirit is the one

that will work in his life, and convict is hard.

It is not me, you know.

I just need to be obedient to pray, obedient to share.

When the opportunity risers, I'm not there to shove it

down there, because it's the Holy Spirit that will speak

to them. Okay, whose responsibility is it when the hearts

are convicted to receive the Holy Spirit or to receive

Christ as your personal who's responsibility?

Anybody? Answer? Is the individual? Right or not? It is

not your problem? Also is the person's.

Problem you gave you no like because it's the Holy

Spirit that convicts us. I tell you when I read it,

I'm like, what so refreshing? Now I just need to

share except except not my problem. Holy Spirit problem to

conflict the heart. That's one problem. Second problem. It is

up to the person to receive. Correct it's a gift. Mind,

you can reject one. That also means people can reject

the Holy Spirit. People can reject God.

Can one? Do you know that? Do you know that

you can reject God? No?

God?

No? Noah? Noah? Can Christians can reject go one? Can

what you think? God? This is your arm?

No, He's given us free will. That also means that

you've got to be careful. Are we constantly rejecting God

when things are happening in our lives that we don't

like or don't want, or I got another or something

else is God? Then I'll reject this God. You're catching

that not that's like important. No, Sometimes when we don't

understand this, right, we live our lives thinking that, oh, whoa,

it's me, it's everybody else's fault. Hello, let's take some

personal responsibility of the choices we are making in our lives.

Let's take ours some personal responsibility of what God is

doing in our lives. And it's up to us obey,

you know, decide. The word obedience is very important. Obedience

and sacrifice. Oh look look at all the sacrifices I've

done for you Lord. No, obey, God just need you

to do this. The outcomer is not your problem, it's

his problem, coryer not. I hope you catch it. So

the Holy Spirit is God. We got to catch that right,

because why Jesus is going to be the father. Really,

he will come back soon. But he has left us

a helper, which is the Holy Spirit. So Holy Spirit

is here to help us. Second point, Holy Spirit is

a person.

Okay.

In John chapter sixteen, verse seventeen or fourteen less street,

what does it say. However, when he the Spirit of

truth has come, he will guide you into all truth.

For he will not speak on his own authority. But whoever,

whatever he hears, he will speak, and he will tell

you things to come. He will glorify me, for he

will take what is mine and he carried to you.

So how do you know it's a Holy spirit speaking

to you? It's all here. He only speaks the truth

from the world of God. He only speaks alignment to God,

no other alignment. So how do you know whether or

not the voice in your head? Yesterday my wife was

watching my kids watching Lego movie through and then they

have a very interesting song which I'm not gonna sing,

gonna mess you up.

The voice in your head? How do you know? How

do you know sounds correct? Not sure? Friends, the Lord

has given us his word already.

You will know if God's voice, if it's aligned to

the Word of God. Aligned means sounds like it's coming

from the world of God. No, not sounds like it

is coming from world of God. The question is, if

you don't know the Word of God, how do you

know whether the voice is legit?

Say what you don't know the rule? How you know?

You won't know? You'll be ignorance.

So the only way to know the voice of God

is to learn the Word of God. And you don't

have to be an expert of friends. That's the thing.

We have this perception that, oh I must read the

Bible cover. I mean, if you do, all great, lock okay,

But you don't need to be an expert. You just

need to go inside and learn more. You just need

to read. You just need to feel in yourself. And

the secret is you know the Bible. John chapter one says,

this is my lord, my commments, meditate on Why why

do we need to read and meditate and input the

dry in, put the logos input because when the rama

world comes, God speaks and you will know, not I

will know.

You will know there's God.

No, and you can check scripture and say, oh yep, okay,

this is a line. This is the way to live

the banner life. Friends, It's not complicated. You don't need

to go in and seek some guru or some bastard

or some no no need. Of course, the Holy Spray

is there if you're ready. The moment you receive Christ

as your personal law and savior, you have the secret

sauce the Holy Sprace in your heart in your life.

The only problem is do we cap on it? Do

we do we invest in it? Do we build relationship?

Why?

Some people can hear more God's voice and some don't.

Well express simple, I be married and my wife. Give

you an example. I'd be marrying my wife for sexteen

years to day, sexteen years this year, sixteen.

Years, twenty ten, Right, imagena this week?

I call her or she called me with the unknown number,

and I go, who's this? You don't recognize my voice?

But we've been married sixteen years. Sorry, yeah, I never

hear your voice every day. I just live my life.

Cannot write something wrong? Right, but we've got some wors

that I've been Christian into dsity. But when call you, you

can't recognize be said, right, We've been saying no. I mean,

at least you try to guess it is it you?

You know, sounds like a girl. I mean, I'm jesting that,

but I think you kind of get what I mean.

It does take investment relationships with the Bill. That's why

it's a relationship with Bill.

Right.

The Holy Spirit possesses the basic characteristics of a personality.

I think I got a little graph here. He has

the intellect, the ability to think and reason. He is sensitive. Right,

Bible says, don't grieve the Holy Spirit. Do you know

that can grief? People you have love on in your life, right,

think of something that you know you when you do,

are you will make your love one Where he's said,

now try to think about what other things you're doing

that will make the Holy Spirit said, it's very true, right,

And he also has the capacity of choice. No, not

Holy Spirit is just a force that No, he got

choice on. No, like how you got choice? Like how

we like say, just now we can reject God, we

can reject the Holy Spirit. It's very funny one, you know,

imagine you have a relationship, right, and I keep rejecting

a person and then a personal nice to you or

why not nice to me?

But that's how we treat God. Sometimes that's the problem.

But do you know that God's grace is vast, His

love for you is That's how you say, this is

God that we serve a is so wonderful. No, how

messed up you are, he will say, come back and

love you on. That's the wonderful thing about about the

God we have Amen.

Ex.

Chapter five and verse trae of Fall. We talk about

being a person has an intellect? Do you know that

you can lie to the Holy Spirit? Actually after five

is regular example. I'm not going to go too deep

into that, right. I don't know whether we can finish

in time. But there's a story about this guy called Anon.

And I believe that the story is there to want

us to be very careful, right, because what happened was,

you know, at the time, I think, you know, like

imagine all of us a very happy lie, you know,

and like, oh, you know, the Bible says everybody is

selling what they own right in a church, celling what

you own, giving to the church already. I'm sure they were.

They were, you know, honored when they do that. And

you've got this guy and the wife and they have

a piece of land and they sold it right. And

you see, I don't think the church would for them

if they decided to keep some money for themselves and

the rest to give. I don't think so. I think

everything is above on, everything is very you know. I

don't think the But I don't know why.

What they did.

Was quite funny because they sold the land, they kept

fifty percent, they gave fifty percent to the church partner.

They say, this is one hundred percent lying ready, la,

And I don't think the chest is going in. Oh no,

But when they didn't check, no, there's no do I

But why did they have to say they give one

hundred percent?

That's the party. It's quite funny. And he was a husband.

And then they give chance to hey, this is what happened.

Not they didn't say that. This is what happened.

Is it true? And she's still yeah yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.

We gave everything.

She also died the said right, Okay, I know a

lot of dying dying things. But it's just here to

tell you please don't lie to the Holy spirital you know, don't, don't.

Don't don't lie that okay, it doesn't work for you, right,

but it also shows you that you can lie to God,

lie to the Holy Spirit, lie to don't, don't don't Okay.

There is also different expressions of the Holy Spirit. Let's

let's just go.

He can feel, he can comfort, he can think, he

can speak and pray and teach. He exercised with him

for be miracles. These are all the works of the

Holy Spirit, true us friends. When you need comforting, he

can comfort you. When you need guidance, he can guet you.

When you need with he will give you wisdom. This

is the unfair advantage that we have as Christians. You

don't believe me, well try it. That's my chance to people.

Now you don't believe in my faith, It's okay, try it.

Then you tell me it doesn't work because I've tried it. It works, right,

I tell you the interesting thing that I have. You know,

maybe because you're full time, you're pastor or whatever. You know,

you have a chance to you know, sw and talk

to a lot of people, right, you know, whether it's

guidance or advice or all. And the interesting thing that

I always experienced, especially you know, the times where I

really have no answer in a problem that people have,

and I really ask a lot, just just I hope

you're there with me a lot when I'm dealing with

this and I keep you not right, I cannot remember

half the things I tell everyone, right, I don't keep score.

I cannot remember. But people remember ten years down the

road you say this, I like, really, it doesn't sound

like me.

You know. It's the Holy Spirit.

Friends, the anointing of Holy Spirit all your life will

bring life to others as well.

That is what being so in life's all about.

If you know how to tap into the Holy Spirit,

are you catching something? Third point, the Deity of the

Holy Spirit. Right, we talked about Holy Spirit God. We

need to talk about the deity of the Holy Spirit.

So the Bible calls the Holy Spirit God. Also he

possesses godly characteristics. Right, Let's let's go and see the

next one. So he has an internal nature, right he

rows nine fourteen says he has either he's the alphae omega. Right,

he says eternal nature. He's omnipresent, means he can be

everywhere at one time. So this is the benefit the

Holy Spirit has. Jesus are one place, one time. So

if Jesus is still here, you know what's gonna happen.

We all have to book a stadium or go there

and look at Jesus. Does what happen last time? Do

you want to have one on one covers in Jesus

very hard because he's a physical man in physical place.

But the Holy Spirit, it's with everyone. I think that's benefit, right,

don't you think?

So?

Meansa even when you're not in church, he's there you

you know, even when you are at home watching Netflix.

Is there?

You know, even when you are in the toilet doing

your business and for some guys doing devotion in the

toilet in the morning because you want to save time

reading you version Bible before you go and check all

the other reels, he's there if you you know, okay,
